Part 2: Rabash. Record 132. Upper and Lower.

Reader: We're reading in the Writings of Rabash, in Hebrew, it's the third volume, Article 132, “Upper One and Lower One.” You can find these study materials in Sviva Tova and the Arvut, you can also send us questions through our websites. Again, Rabash, Article 132, “Upper One and Lower One.”

Reading Article: (00:30) Record 132. Upper and Lower. Twice.

Kelim [vessels] of one who acquires, and Kelim of one who gives. The upper one is the one who gives, and the lower one is the one who acquires. The Masach [screen] of the lower one that he has in the Eynaim [eyes] is called “shutting of the eyes,” so he sees that the upper one, too, has not more than Galgalta and Eynaim. It follows that the Masach of the lower one covers the upper one.

When the upper one gives the Masach that covers the upper one from the lower one, meaning he removes the Masach from himself and leaves it with the lower one, by this the lower one acquires Gadlut [adulthood/greatness].

It follows that the Masach and concealment of the upper one, which he left in the lower one, at that time the lower one sees that there is no concealment whatsoever on the upper one. He asks, Who made the concealment before? It is only the upper one himself. This is considered that the upper one gives the Masach to the lower one. He sees this now that the upper one has removed from himself the concealment of his importance.

M. Laitman:  Yes, questions?

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (04:23) First of all, Baal HaSulam, he plays with the words here, so I don't know if I understood correctly what he said, but it's supposedly the upper one wants to raise the lower one. So first there's a state that he gives the lower one concealment, then he's in Katnut, only Galgalta Eynaim, and it seems that also the upper one is only in Galgalta Eynaim.

M. Laitman: So?

Student: That's the initial state. Then He wants to raise the lower one, so he takes the concealment off himself. How does that help the lower one grow?

M. Laitman: It probably removes from him the screen that conceals it, hides it.

Student: So it becomes easier, because he sees the greatness of the upper one, so it becomes easier. How does it help the lower one grow, or maybe he didn't get it correctly?

M. Laitman: If the upper one is in Katnut, in smallness, and because of it, the lower one is also in Katnut. Now, what does it mean, closing of the eyes?

Student: That he only has Galgalta Eynaim, and there is no... the screen is in Galgalta Eynaim, and the lower one only has smallness, and he thinks that the upper one also is only small.

M. Laitman: Yes, in other words, the screen of Galgalta Eynaim, of the lower one, hides the upper one, so the upper one is also in Katnut, according to what he attains. And then what happens?

Student: That's what I'm asking. Again, what I understand from the text is that the upper one wants to raise him…

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: So he's showing him his greatness.

M. Laitman: Yes?

Student: So how does it help the lower one grow?

M. Laitman: Because the upper one gives him a screen, and the lower one, because he received the screen from the upper one, can now emerge from his Katnut and achieve Gadlut, greatness.

Student: What is that exactly, that he gives him the screen?

M. Laitman: He gives him a possibility.

Student: He gives him the forces to work with his AHP?

M. Laitman: Yes, to work with his vessels. Read it again. The vessels of the one who acquires, the vessels of the one who gives. The upper one is the one who gives, and the lower one is the one who acquires. The screen of the lower one that he has in the Eynaim is called shutting of the eyes. So he sees that the upper one, too, has no more than Galgalta and Eynaim. It follows that the Masach of the lower one covers the upper one.

When the upper one gives the Masach that covers the upper one from the lower one, meaning he removes the Masach from himself and leaves it with the lower one, by this the lower one acquires Gadlut, greatness, because the upper one gave him the Masach, the screen that he had, to the lower one, and the lower one received the addition. So now he has an addition of overcoming.

It follows that the Masach and concealment of the upper one, which he left in the lower one, at that time the lower one sees that there is no concealment whatsoever on the upper one. He asks, who made the concealment before? It is only the upper one himself, there’s no one else who operates here. This is considered that the upper one gives the Masach to the lower one. He sees this now, that the upper one has removed from himself the concealment of his importance.

Student: So I understand that in the beginning the upper one wanted to conceal himself and the lower one.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Then he supposedly removes the concealment of himself and gives it to the lower one.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: And by this he helps him grow, so that's my question. What is this action? What does it mean to take it off himself, give it to the lower one, and by that to raise him?

M. Laitman: He gives him a screen.

Student: And he didn't have one before?

M. Laitman: No, the screen that he had in the upper one is a concealing screen. When he gives it to the lower one, then in the lower one it's a screen that reveals it for attaining.

Student: On behalf of the lower one, what's the difference if the upper one conceals him, or he got the screen to perform the concealment himself, lower one?

M. Laitman: From the perspective of the lower one, who was in concealment, and then besides the concealment he attains from where the concealment came to him, and who he attains in the concealment; because the lower one, specifically through the concealment, comes to a state where he understands that previously there was concealment, and now there isn't. Look, it follows that the screen in concealment of the lower one, which he left in the lower one, so now the lower one sees that there is no concealment on the upper one, and he asks, who made the concealment before? Only the upper one himself. This is considered that the upper one gives the Masach to the lower one.

Student: And by that he can see the greatness of the upper one and how he's guarding him?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: That's the greatness of the upper one he recognizes.

M. Laitman: Yes, it's like the upper one being born out of the lower one.

Student: So he's learning that action from him, he's learning how to perform a concealment?

M. Laitman: Yes, and this is what he sees now when the upper one removes the concealment from himself, the concealment of his importance. Well, it's a little kind of warped, it's kind of hard for us. We also can't be that flexible with the upper one and lower one, how one operates on the other, upper one on the lower one, lower one on the upper one.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (12:31) We learned this week that a student that goes into exile, so his Rav goes out to exile with him, and when he doesn't see importance in the upper one, he sees it tastes like dust. So here he starts from the lower one already with the screen in Galgalta Eynaim, so that means that he did some kind of action to correct that. And in the article we read this week, he gave advice to look at the sorrow of Divinity, to feel sorry that the Rav is in exile, that he's not great. So there's like a correction that the upper one is performing on the lower one by concealing his importance and greatness? What's the first action that the lower one does by feeling sorry for seeing it or wanting to come closer to the upper one, that he calls it, the screen of the lower one is in Galgalta Eynaim? What did the lower one actually do to come closer to the upper one?

M. Laitman: Restriction.

Student: What did he restrict, what he sees?

M. Laitman: On himself.

Student: He wants to come closer to the upper one by feeling sorry that the upper one is low in his eyes, the quality of bestowal?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: And then he wants to come close to him, in his pure vessels, in the vessels of bestowal to resemble him in somewhat?

M. Laitman: Put it this way.

Student: So the upper one shows him his importance, it's all about the importance of the Creator towards the lower one.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: By concealing himself what did he do? He gave like a field to the lower one to work in?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: And when he already reveals the importance to the lower one, so the lower one also has to do an action on his behalf? What is he concealing?

M. Laitman: He is obligated, he must perform the action.

Student: But what is he guarding? He has to keep something on his own.

M. Laitman: Yes, on himself.

Student: That the greatness of the upper one won't cause him to lose anything now that it's revealed?

M. Laitman: Yes, he guards himself because the upper one shows him Gadlut, greatness, and that can cause him damage, disconnection.

Student: So in the whole process the lower one went through, he learned the form of connection to the upper one; even when the upper one starts opening himself, the lower one can keep himself.

M. Laitman: Yes. We need to digest it some more, to digest it.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (16:09) He writes that when the upper one gives the screen that covers the upper one, meaning he removes the screen from himself and leaves it in the lower one, what lets the upper one suddenly remove the screen and give it to the lower one?

M. Laitman: That the lower one will not receive it in order to receive.

Student: How to reach such a state?

M. Laitman: By restricting himself, restricting himself and relating himself to the upper one.

Student: And that's the trigger to…?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (17:15) We say that Katnut is the main part in Gadlut, greatness is the addition.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: So we read that the upper one is the one who gives the screen to the lower one and lets him be in greatness.

M. Laitman: Yes?

Student: So we read that the upper one is the one who gives the screen to the lower one and lets him be greatness. The question is, why is it an addition, because without the greatness, the created being can't reach the final goal of receiving in order to bestow.

M. Laitman: But the question is, to what extent is it necessary?

Student: The upper one determines that?

M. Laitman: Well, necessity means it exits from the intention to receive.

Student: But we read that it's the upper one who gives it to the lower one.

M. Laitman: That's the giver, but the one who wants, decides to ask, and receives and does is the lower one.

Student: So it's from a demand of the lower one or the upper one who gives him the screen? Is that the state that the second restriction is cancelled and the first restriction always remains? So this is when the second restriction is cancelled and the upper one gives him an ability to work with screens?

M. Laitman: Well, you can say so.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (19:13) The coarseness, that place is the coarseness  of the screen of the upper one?

M. Laitman: What?

Student: The place of attainment, that's the screen of the upper one?

M. Laitman: Place of attainment?

Student: Yes.

M. Laitman: It doesn't say.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (19:52) Can we say that this is the exodus of Egypt, to receive a screen?

M. Laitman: It doesn't say that.

Student: That screen is given forever or is it temporary?

M. Laitman: Could be temporary. It's completely irrelevant to what we read, why are you asking?

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (20:27) What's the difference between importance of the Creator and Katnut and Gadlut, smallness and greatness?

M. Laitman: That's with respect to the created being, with respect to whom are you asking?

Student: What's the difference in a person about the greatness of the Creator when he's in Katnut, smallness, or Gadlut, greatness? What's the difference in importance of the Creator in both states?

M. Laitman: When a person is in Katnut, in smallness, the Creator can be great in his eyes, and when he is in Gadlut, in greatness, the Creator can be great in his eyes. Yes, it's with respect to the attaining individual.

Student: In what is the Gadlut, the greatness, greater than the greatness while in smallness?

M. Laitman: The greatness of the Creator in Gadlut and the greatness of the Creator in Katnut with respect to the lower one is a difference in degrees. If the upper one is great with respect to the small one, or great with respect to a great one, there's a difference, you tell me. That's what it is.

Student: Is the love revealed more than his forces? What do I discover more?

M. Laitman: The internality of the upper one is revealed in a different way toward the smallness of the lower one or toward the greatness of the upper one. A person who is great attains the upper one to the fullest as much as he can, and a small person attains signs of the upper one; differences between greatness and smallness, Katnut and Gadlut, but not more than that.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (23:02) Gadlut or Katnut, is that measured towards the upper one or towards the lower one?

M. Laitman: It depends what we're talking about.

Student: When the Partzuf starts using, its AHP, that's right?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: So that's the relation towards the lower ones.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: So like a person becomes a father, he starts understanding his father more, much deeper.

M. Laitman: Right.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (24:08) We have a question from a friend from the Ten. It's written that he takes the screen away from himself and leaves it with the lower one. How can the screen help us feel the Creator and remove the concealment? It's the same screen that's concealing the upper one.

M. Laitman: Where is it written?

Student: That's what he sent.

M. Laitman: Sent.

Student: That he conceals the screen and leaves it with the lower one in the second paragraph… When the upper one gives the Masach that covers up the upper one from the lower one, meaning he removes the screen from himself and leaves it with the lower one, by this, the lower one acquires Gadlut.

Student: I think he means that if the upper one is concealing the lower one, how can he use the same screen to reveal him?

M. Laitman: The concealment comes from the upper one and the revealing comes from the lower one on the same screen.

Student: But the same screen reveals and conceals?

M. Laitman: No.

Student: Or is it a different screen?

M. Laitman: The Reshimot, the records are the same records, but the lower one uses them differently from the upper one. To the upper one they become a concealing screen, and to the lower one it becomes a revealing screen.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (26:09) He describes a state of Katnut, that the lower one learns the upper one, and then that miracle happens, that the upper one opens himself, and the lower one reveals the importance of the upper one, and he discovers the sorrow of the upper one, and the longing of the upper one to connection.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: My question is, once the upper one opens himself and the lower one reveals the sorrow and how he's missing him, the lower one, how can the lower one reveal his ability to carry that sorrow of lack of connection? Until today, the lower one learned from an example. He looked at his upper one, did what the upper one was doing. When the upper one opened himself, he discovered a world where the upper one is infinite, and the sorrow he reveals towards the lower one because the lower one has to reach equivalence of form. So where is that field? The force where the lower one can encompass that sorrow and longing of the upper one towards him. How does he grow in the ability to hold that sorrow?

M. Laitman: Again.

Student: In Hafetz Hesed, Delighted in Mercy, the upper one is before the lower one and teaches him how to become delighted in mercy. He looks at the upper one, he does like the upper one, he reaches the same form. Once he made that miracle and opened himself towards the lower one, and the lower one discovers how the upper one is in an  endless longing to hug the lower one, and he's in great sorrow for not succeeding to hug the lower one because he doesn't want to ruin his advancement, he wants to leave him in a world that he's independent. So the question is, when can the lower one get forces, and when does he work to encompass that sorrow, that longing that the upper one supposedly pours upon him?

M. Laitman: You're saying everything correctly, but there's no answer because it's all the work of the upper one.

Student: But I want to help him, I want to feel how I'm causing him that sorrow, but I don't know how to work with it. I want to be a good disciple. I want to make it easy for him, and I don't know how to do it.

M. Laitman: You're right, but this is what we can do and from the sorrow, from the prayer, from the suffering that we feel, it's already called the sorrow of the exile. By this, we gradually come out from exile to redemption. Okay? I can't say more than that.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (30:24) Maybe in a simple way. There's an upper one and lower one. Let's say there's no screen between them, so the lower one can see the upper one is a huge pleasure he wants to swallow?

M. Laitman: I don't know, I don't understand this state.

Student: Why is the upper one concealing himself to begin with?

M. Laitman: For the sake of the lower one, always.

Student: So the lower one won't want to receive in order to receive the upper one, right? So he sees him as a great pleasure that he can take and receive.

M. Laitman: You can say so.

Student: So the upper one conceals himself. Now when the lower one receives the screen, how can he see the upper one? As a big pleasure that he can resist and not receive until he can receive in order to bestow?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: So just as was asked before… what? Well, I don't know, I lost it.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (31:36) Our friend is translating into German, and they had a question about the expression closing of the eyes. Does that relate to closing as in like a clogged pipeline, or is it a blockage, or what's the best way to see that state?

M. Laitman: What's the difference?

Student: Is it a situation where I see that there's some sort of a blocking or is it some sort of a barrier that doesn't let something through?

M. Laitman: I don't understand.

Student: I can say that there is something stuck in the hose that doesn't allow me to, or I can say…

M. Laitman: So here we're talking about the pipeline, and here we're talking about an action. What do you want to hear? You could be wanting to talk about the reason, or you can want to talk about the result.

Student: And in relation to this excerpt, which is more correct? To describe it in relation to the reason or to the result?

M. Laitman: I think the result.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (33:05) The lower one, should it yearn to discover the greatness of the upper one?

M. Laitman: Yes, to yearn, not to discover the greatness of the upper one but to yearn to resemble the upper one. He doesn't want greatness, he wants a state.

Student: Faith above reason, is that not enough?

M. Laitman: No. No, it's only the intention, faith above reason.

Student: Annulment and restriction, is this already faith above reason or not?

M. Laitman: It depends when you do it, who does it.

Student: How do we come to a state where the action of the upper one happens on the lower one, or maybe we shouldn't think about it, just do our work?

M. Laitman: No, that depends on the desire of the lower one, as much as he wants to resemble the upper one, identify with him.

Student: But in the article, it doesn't say anything about the work of the lower one, that the upper one does everything and the lower one only reveals it?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: But from the perspective of the lower one, what is his work?

M. Laitman: To adhere to the upper one. In any possible state, the upper one is going through and showing it to the lower one, so the lower one, it has to be an example of what to do.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (35:08) You said we have to try to adhere to the upper one, but he is hidden. It says in, “There's None Else Besides Him,” that a person should feel the sorrow of the Shechina instead of his own sorrow, that she can't bestow to one of her organs. But as it says here, the Shechina hides herself.

M. Laitman: So what's the question?

Student: What do we do? If she's hiding, then you can't feel her sorrow.

M. Laitman: So for sure you will need to do what's revealed for you, that's being forced.

Student: Yes, I understand intellectually why the upper one or the Shechina hides herself, but when she's hidden, you can't feel her, so you can't be sorry for her, so what do we do?

M. Laitman: Prayer.

Student: Prayer for what? There's a beautiful place in a letter by Baal HaSulam where he describes how the Shechina meets her son after many years of not seeing each other, and she tells him what it was like, how they went to all the places. So what should we depict, the sorrow or the moment of the meeting?

M. Laitman: Again.

Student: What should a person depict to himself with the image of the mother and the son? The mother's sorrow of being far from her son, or the moment of the meeting when they finally unite?

M. Laitman: He needs to yearn for that meeting, that's what I understand.

Student: How should we depict the mother because he doesn't feel it, that's what he says here, that he doesn't feel the mother.

M. Laitman: By depicting her sorrow, he can reach resemblance towards her.

Student: So from the effort to depict the mother and how she yearns for him, the concealment becomes clearer?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (38:15) The screen that the upper one passes to the lower one, is it when the upper one gives to the lower one, this is a bestowal?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Croatia): (38:52) He writes, when the upper one removes the screen from himself, why does the upper one need a screen, how does it work?

M. Laitman: I don't know what he's speaking about.

Student: He writes, when the upper one gives the screen that covers the upper one from the lower one, meaning removes the screen from himself and leaves it with the lower one, by this, the lower one acquires Gadlut.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: So there's like a process here where the upper one gives the screen to the lower one?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: So that means that the upper one has a screen to give to the lower one.

M. Laitman: He has a screen that conceals himself from the lower one, and now he gives that screen to the lower one, and for the lower one that screen changes, or conceals as it was in the upper one, at two being revealed.

Question (Women Heb 1): (40:03) How can a Ten remove concealment in order to reveal the next degree, is it in the connection between the friends?

M. Laitman: Yes, connect between all the friends and turn to the Creator to do it.

Question (Women PT 26): (40:22) What does it mean that the upper one opens himself?

M. Laitman: The upper one opens himself by giving the lower one an ability to connect to him.

Question (Women Rehovot 1): (40:38) What is the goal of concealment of the upper one from the lower one, by what does this process of concealment help our development?

M. Laitman: This concealment helps the lower one ascend to the upper one to demand the conditions for the ascent.

Question (Women PT 27): (41:05) What's the difference between the sorrow of the Shechina and the sorrow of the Creator?

M. Laitman: The sorrow of the Shechina is when the upper one feels sorrow for not being able to bestow to the lower one according to the needs of the lower one. That's the sorrow of the Shechina, and what else?

Student: The sorrow of the Creator, what is that?

M. Laitman: Sorrow of the Creator, that he can't bestow to the lower ones.

Student: So it's the same thing?

M. Laitman: Yes, the Shechina and the Creator are the same.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (41:59) The upper one teaches the lower one how to receive in order to bestow, or does the screen do it?

M. Laitman: Of course it's the screen.

Student: What is the screen, is it like an instrument that allows the lower one to receive in order to bestow?

M. Laitman: In order to bestow, yes, all kinds of things.

Student: So doesn't the lower one learn by himself?

M. Laitman: How can he learn from himself? Only by example.

Student: It's not clear what the screen is. It's like something that a person is given, and then with the help of this, he begins to understand, he begins to bestow?

M. Laitman: Without that, he can't do anything, he can get an example.

Student: Right, so the upper one teaches the lower one how to receive in order to bestow, according to the examples he gives him.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: So it's not the screen that does it.

M. Laitman: Well obviously there's someone above the screen that wants the screen to work.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (43:16) The fact that the lower one is rewarded with the screen, does that mean that first of all, he caused wholeness in the upper one, in his demand?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: And only afterwards he receives the screen?

M. Laitman: Yes, correct.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (43:40) To continue the friend's question, he asked, what is the work of the lower one? You said to adhere to the upper one in any situation that the upper one goes through and shows it to the lower one. So does the lower one… there must always be an example of what to do?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: So first of all the question is, what is the adhesion of the lower one in the upper one? In the example that the upper one shows the lower one his situation, what example does the lower one take from the upper one? Behavior in adhesion sounds like there's a process of addition, it's not just one word. So what is the adhesion of the lower one in the upper one?

M. Laitman: That the upper one is willing to participate in all the actions of the lower one according to the conditions of the upper one.

Student: It says that the upper one goes through some state and it shows the lower one how to behave in every state. What can the lower one learn from the example of the upper one, from what the upper one shows the lower one, it's an example?

M. Laitman: He needs to take that example and take it on himself.

Student: In what is the example?

M. Laitman: By making vessels of bestowal of himself.

Student: The upper one helps the lower one build correctly? Or receive the example that the upper one receives it correctly? If the lower one doesn't receive it correctly, does the upper one correct it?

M. Laitman: Corrects it.

Student: How does the lower one know that the upper one corrects it?

M. Laitman: The lower one works with him. He gives him more and more, all kinds of actions, discernments, and the upper one gradually is included in it and reaches the right result.

Student: Is there a situation where the lower one doesn't get the examples of the upper one?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: So what's the correction in that state?

M. Laitman: Education.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (46:28) How should the lower one relate to the upper one during the concealment, because concealment gives a feeling of shame, insult, distance, failure.

M. Laitman: During the concealment it's hard to relate to the upper one because the upper one is concealed and the lower one disregards him. And he has to work above reason, and to try and be adhered to the upper one through the darkness.

Student: The thing is that the concealment often comes after the revelation. The lower one was raised up and brought down and then he has no vessels, so there are all kinds of hard feelings.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Shame, insults.

M. Laitman: Right, so…

Student: So how do we conduct ourselves in concealment with all those feelings?

M. Laitman: You have friends.

Student: How is that connected to the friends?

M. Laitman: When do you need to use them?

Student: When we need to rise. So I have to build connection with them, and then there's an ascent.

M. Laitman: Good, so do it.

Student: But the connection, we want to come to a state of constant connection, and these drops, where the lower one is dropped into the vessels in order to receive, what kind of connection is that?

M. Laitman: It's a connection also, I wish we had it.

Student: I'm asking in states of remoteness.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: How to turn the connection with the upper one into positive, good?

M. Laitman: By persistence.

Student: Okay, final question. What can the lower one do when he doesn't have the vessels, he doesn't have anything?

M. Laitman: To pray, connect to the friends in order to get vessels through them and pray.

Student: And their prayer is the connection?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (49:04) My question concerns building this screen. How is that connected to the advice of Baal HaSulam in the previous letter to exert in love of friends? How can we establish a connection with the upper one through the relation to the friends? This measurement, what am I checking, how do I check and know that I'm building a screen here?

M. Laitman: How do you know you have a screen?

Student: Baal HaSulam writes, that the connection with the friends, there's everything there, everything we need.

M. Laitman: Well.

Student: Now, we are talking about the upper one and lower one. How does the connection with the friends build the relation of the upper one, to the upper one? What are the components from which we build our relation to the upper one?

M. Laitman: We take it from the friends, ascribe it to the friends, and extend these relationships to the Creator.

Student: What we have to build is a screen. What are the relations or forms of connection from which we say, now we have an upper one?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: What do we find there in the connection between us?

M. Laitman: Between us? Connection because we want to be in relation to the upper one.

Student: How should we depict the screen in the connection between the friends?

M. Laitman: That we connect between all of us and gather all forms of connection, and that is called the general connection between us.

Student: How do we collect forms of connection between us? Each one can express his connection to the other Ten. How do we collect it so as to have a clear picture, what is the relation between the friends in a general way?

M. Laitman: Constantly try to connect above oneself, and in this way we reach a more unique connection.

Student: Can I ask another question?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: A person is in the Ten, he knows how he relates to the other ten friends.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: There are friends to whom he can, as you said, that he can see them above, and there are friends he cannot see. In this way, how do we build a common relation to it?

M. Laitman: By each one relating to society as the general force that unites them.

Student: How do I know that my friends are making the same effort to see the friend's merits, how do I feel that necessity?

M. Laitman: You hope it's like that, and you depict that it's like that.

Student: So basically, it's a person's personal work. There is no general relation that you can say, four more people with me in the Ten made the same effort, or ten more, or eight more, or everyone made that effort. There's no such test in a person?

M. Laitman: No, there isn't one, he doesn't need that, he does not need that. Okay, enough. What else do we need?

Reader: We have selected excerpts on, “The Spiritual Power of a Physical Gathering.”

M. Laitman: Let's do that. Today we also have another meeting.
