1. Rav’s Introduction: Yes, the title is ruin as an opportunity for correction that if there were no ruin there would be nothing to correct. If there was nothing to correct we would lose the entire opportunity to feel creation, as the advantage of light out of darkness. This is the only way we attain, and therefore if there were no difference between the will to receive and the will to bestow, between darkness and light, in all of our senses we wouldn't even understand and feel creation where we are. If we had no feeling we would not develop the intellectual system, the awareness, and we would just remain as a small, primitive, and very limited desire. Rather, all of the richness that we have in our sensation, in our understanding, in the various discernments we have, comes to us specifically out of the fact that in our foundation there are two opposite things. One force, the force of bestowal, comes from the Creator, this is His nature and the force of reception comes in precisely the opposite way through the opposite projection from the Creator. These two forces operate in us, in between the two of them, not that we destroy one at the expense of the other or we create some kind of connection between them where one would annihilate the other.

It is just that we need to position them one opposite the other in a way that in between the two we exist with our perception, our vision, our healthy feeling. It's not through one thing we can perceive creation and not through the other, but rather in between the two of them, specifically together and this is called 620 times more that we attain the power and the richness that exists in creation. Therefore the ruin that we have at the beginning of creation, or the sin as we call it, the “sin of the tree of knowledge”, all of those things, it's necessary for them to occur because without that there would be no mingling or mixing of the Kedusha and the Klipot, and then there would be no opportunities and distinction between the two of them. Specifically through the distinctions between the two of them we build ourselves. We are not the flesh and blood, it is not our body, or whatever we have right now, but rather what we gather through the scrutinies between the good and the bad, the darkness and the light, the Klipa and the Kedusha. Whatever comes out of those, what we call the sparks that emerge, out of them we assemble our deficiencies, our discernments and the correct fulfillments for the vessel that is called the soul.

Through those discernments this vessel grows, expands, it becomes filled, and this is how we attain the understanding and the feeling of the Creator, in adhesion, in connection with Him. Therefore, we need to realize that nothing bad happens in creation but it is only scrutinies of what the Creator created and what He wants to scrutinize for us, what He wants to teach us. Studying Him is not how we are used to studying at school, or at home, in the kindergarten, and in all kinds of places that are higher, but rather studying Him means that He brings a collision within us of opposite qualities so that out of their collision within us, when we are in separation and in searching and in all kinds of states that are opposite, by this we eventually attain creation, the depth of creation, the width of creation, and by that we build ourselves. Any construction that we have to carry out, ends up being a result of our scrutinies, of the discernments that we get through the ascents and descents, through the shattering and through the collision between our ego, the will to receive with whatever is opposite it, the will to bestow. Let's go to the excerpts and from them we will learn what exactly is the ruin, what is the scrutiny that we have to make out of it, and how do we try to combine the pieces of the broken vessel so that specifically out of these broken vessels we learn about the depth of creation and about it's a nature so that eventually this is how we attain the Creator, the operator who is behind all of this.

2. R. (08:34) We need to say, nevertheless, that it is the revelation of the corruption in order to correct it, that is, the Creator needs to show us what is the difference, what is the gap between Him and creation, between these two forms. It is impossible in any other way as we learn, that we attain everything from something and it’s opposite. However, the thing is how do we relate to something and its opposite? Even though Kabbalists write a lot of words of, seemingly, speaking badly against the will to receive in order to receive, about the Klipot, the shells, and about to what extent they bring us death and sin and hardship. Along with all of that, if we looked at that from the right level, then we would not discover anything bad in creation rather that it is all covered with pure love. It is difficult for us to understand that and even to talk about it, we can't quite do it and we avoid it. People outside of us will not be able to understand it, to feel it, they will say that we are disregarding the whole of creation, that we do not understand it and we're not capable of identifying with all of the suffering that humanity is going through, that if we were to go through this suffering then we would also keep silent and we would not be able to bless the Creator on each and every step of the way. It is true, however, we need to distinguish between reality and a small person who is under the pressure of development. Kabbalist to go through this write that there is no bad in the world, there is only good. It is not that they didn't feel the bad, but rather they felt all of the bed, and they also feel during the correction, all of the bad and opposite that, all of the good force and nevertheless, they determined that this bad is what is allowing them to exist as a created being and to feel the Creator as good. So nevertheless it ends up being very weak in terms of the words we use and as much as we talk about it, well, “there is none as wise as the experienced one”. We will go through it, we will attain it, we will feel it and then, well, anyone who attains he attains and one who doesn't attain nothing will help him until he will also come to attainment.

3. S. (12:00) Why is the shattering of the vessels a correction?

R. Anything really is correction because it is on the way towards discovering the end of the work, the end of correction, the complete state that exists already. Anything that we discover in creation, even though it is a corruption, is in order to correct it. Therefore, we shouldn't relate so much to the bad things that we see before us, the difficult things, the corrections, but rather if we realize that we have to go through all of this with the intention of reaching a connection and correction and love, and unity with the Creator, then there is nothing bad in. Rather everything that is revealed is revealed in order to emphasize for us the good force that exists in the embrace between us and the Creator.

4. S. (13:35) There are states that we are familiar with of an ascent and a descent. What is the difference between regular ascents and descents and the shattering and correction?

R. Ascents and descents mean that I am in control of them, and I can even activate them. The shattering occurs through the revelation of the will to receive which is not under my control. I exist under the control of desires to receive that are greater than my force, my ability to hold myself with the correct intention, that's why it is called ‘shattering’, ‘breaking’.

5. S. (14:34) The Kabbalist described the process of the shattering and we learned this, but where is there an opposite example? How to study this, where to take in an example for this?

R. We don't have anything corrected as an example that we can see before us, there is no such thing. Rather you should do it according to how you understand it from the oppositeness. Instead of separation, connection; instead of hatred, love; instead of rejection, nearing and this is how it is. Something from its opposite is how we attain, this is how we build ourselves and therefore this is our special work, that we do it.

S. So it turns out that we need to invent this opposite form, it doesn't exist?

R. We need to feel the shattering, to try and understand what should be the corrected thing, that we are not capable of doing on our own, and that we are not supposed to do it on our own. Rather, all of these corrections are not a correction of the shattering, it is that on top of the shattering, we correct our connection with the Creator. This is why the correction is in that. So I should not be concerned about the complete vessel, it will be complete and it is already standing complete in eternity, Ein Sof. Rather, I need to be concerned that through the revelation of the ruin and the revelation of evil, I will connect with the Creator and I will create such a connection with Him and I will increase this connection with him each time more and more. That is, I don't pay attention to the states that I am going through. I am paying attention to the nature of my connection with the Creator upon all of the states I'm going through.

6. S. (17:17) The correction that was made within a person by the Creator, is that constant?

R. No, it says that you are elevated in sanctity and lowered in sanctity. We never have the same shattering and actually, it never repeats. We correct something, we’re done. Now we have new discernments that are waiting in line from the lighter to the heavier in order for you to correct them.

7. S. (18:03) To understand this concept, is the pandemic the kind of destruction? When it started then you said that the types of connections we had until now have ended and then we need to try to build a new kind of connection.

R. The new connection is a new degree. It means that this is for the better, not for the worse. This is how we need to look at it. You are elevated in sanctity you are never lowered in sanctity

S. So this is an example that came from above. How do we generate this from below, upwards, this is example of destruction?

R. Through connection between us we correct everything. There is no more than connecting all of the parts that were shattered and flew away from one another in the sin of the tree of knowledge, and besides that sin of the tree of knowledge we have no other ruins. All of the other ruins that we have on the other degrees, those ruins in each and every state that you have in the decline from Malchut of Ein Sof were established by the Creator down to our state in each and every stage through which creation fell from degree to degree. You might say that everything is a ruin, however we only count two ruins. One is in Mochin of Haya, this is the great level and the other one is in Mochin of Neshama. Opposite that we have the correction of bestowing in order to bestow from below upward, and later to receive in order to bestow. These two degrees are the primary degrees in the correction of the vessels, and there is no more, everything is included in these. This is considered reaching the state of an incomplete righteous, to bestow in order to bestow, the degree of Bina, and to reach a state of receiving in order to bestow, a complete righteous, the degree of the Keter.

8. S. (23:25) It is clear why the good isn't revealed, so that we will work. It is unclear why the evil isn't also revealed?

R. Why is it not revealed? The evil is revealed exactly to the same extent, in the same form, that we are able to suffer it so that we will not break but rather realize that it is bad, understand the nature of the evil, and understand by what we are able to correct it and reach correction, that is, to rise above it, to see it, so we are not truly below it, beneath it as in the first moment it is revealed but rather to rise above it and to process it in such a way that we elevate it to the Creator and ask for correction. We don't ask for correction to correct the evil, but rather, upon this evil we will draw closer to the Creator and by this we will give Him contentment. We shouldn’t erase the evil or break the evil. We don't have the forces for it and there's no need for it. The Creator created it in order for us upon this evil specifically, we'll find the connection with Him. That's why we should also respect it as it says “the angel of death will become the holy angel”, that we attribute the same importance to the evil force as the good force. The Lord has made one opposite the other and this is how we get closer to the truth.

S. How can we be active in this and not wait for the revelation of evil?

R. The revelation of the evil that is revealed, whatever is revealed, is revealed in all of the degrees, the still, vegetative, animate, and speaking within us in all the degrees of coarseness, root 0, 1, 2, 3, 4. We need to scrutinize the essence of the evil. Eventually this evil is not bad because it is correcting for me all kinds of corporeal things related to my beast, but rather the essence of the evil is that it is corrupting my connection with the Creator, it is separating me from Him. So opposite that I have to get up, to rise and demand correction, this is what is nice and good. Each time I discover to what extent I have a corruption in terms of lack of love, lack of giving to the Creator. Lack of an inclination and connection. Opposite that, I am asking for a correction. This is called ‘raising MAN’. I am not asking for myself that the Creator will correct me and correct my state, rather I am asking that the Creator will help me to get closer to Him in order to bestow to Him, to be in adhesion with Him, and by that to give Him contentment. These are the corrections that each time we rise a degree in our understanding, in our discernment and this is how we advance. We will talk more about it, there are a lot of materials about it.

9. R. (28:54) The breaking of the vessels when there was a mingling of the will to receive for oneself with Kedusha, holiness, when the partition between them was broken because the vessels broke. What does it mean that they broke? That the vessels that were in order to bestow received an intention to receive. Also there was the matter of the sin of the tree of knowledge which caused holy sparks to fall into the Klipot, the shells, and it follows that the breaking of the vessels and the sin of the tree of knowledge caused the created beings that come after, to receive its sustenance from ABYA of Klipa, shells, that we are nourished by the Klipot.

10. S. (29:48) What does it mean that the will to receive was integrated into holiness?

R. There was a partition, as we are now reading, between the will to receive in order to receive and the will to receive in order to bestow, and by the shattering they mingled and mixed together and so it's hard for us to distinguish between them. It's only with respect to the person and it's difficult for us to distinguish where is this desire, in order to receive or in order to bestow.

11. S.(30:39) Through the evil we rise towards the connection to the Creator, this is what I heard, but it seems like it is a fixed game, the Creator wants to promote us towards connection with Him and He wants us to love Him?

R. Of course from the side of the Creator there is nothing new here, but it is something new towards us. Like we play with children, is there anything new here in our game when we play with children? Rather we do everything in order to develop them, to elevate them.

12. S. (31:25) Can we correct ourselves only through the evil?

R. If the evil will not be revealed you will have nothing to correct. You will not have the possibility to say that I am separated from the Creator, you won’t have the possibility to discover the Creator exists and He is separate from you, and you won’t have the possibility to get closer to Him and adhere to Him, to start to get to know Him, and take on His qualities and to exist on His level. Evil is not evil, it is not bad, it is the revelation of the deficiency. What do you lack in order to reach the degree of the Creator? This is called the revelation of evil.

13. S. (32:29) How can we work in the 10 in order to identify the thoughts of the will to receive and by that they are causing us harm or taking over?

R. We can recognize it only on the condition that we learn about bestowal, that we are in a society that respects bestowal, where we try to ask of the Creator, that He will shine on us with the light of bestowal and then opposite that we see what the Klipot, the shell mean. We begin to hate it, to distance from it, and that is how we advance. All of our advancement is only through us asking for more reforming light. It shows us to what extent in order to receive is bad and in order to bestow is good. This is how we advance. To distance from the bad in order to get closer to the good, this exists within our nature, however, each time we have to discover what is bad and what is good on degrees that are higher and higher. This is how we rise and rise and rise in our values. The value of the bad and the good value determine our sense on the degrees. It's either with the right foot, left foot, right foot, left foot. This is how we rise and rise on the degrees. Try to understand this principle and you will see how much of this is right here ahead of us and we can use it.

14. S. (34:48) What are holy sparks?

R. The holy sparks are the parts of the vessels that were in order to bestow and they fell into the general will to receive in order to receive, then they create discernments in the will to receive in order to receive, to what extent it is in order to receive, the opposite of the Creator that is the opposite of Kedusha, holiness. The difference between in order to receive and in order to bestow, the smallest one, is called a spark. It all comes through man's feeling, not that it exists on its own but rather it is only with respect to the person who attains it.

15. S. (36:03) The sparks that fell were already integrated. Why did they have to fall upon the Klipot and discover the evil inclination and not immediately be corrected with the quality of Bina?

R. This is all with respect to the person that through all of these discernments, should become similar to the Creator. Everything that happens, happens inside of the general will to receive that the Creator created. Through all kinds of states like this that go over the will to receive, the will to receive through them becomes perfected and it reaches resembling the Creator. The will to receive remains the will to receive, however in its intention it is constantly updating itself more and more in order to bestow, that is to use all of its elements, all of its desires to enjoy, and invert the desires to enjoy. What is it going to enjoy from instead of when it was for paying attention to its own individual states? To what extent I feel that I am enjoying gradually it shifts to a state where it checks that the Creator is enjoying, the other is enjoying, through the group, the friends, but eventually the Creator. The Creator is farthest from us, this is how we learn from “the love of people to the love of the Creator”. This is actually the process of our correction, through that we come to identify with the Creator. He is entirely in order to bestow and we also acquire our attitude to whatever happens entirely in order to bestow.

16. S. (38:38) When the worlds were created and then there was the shattering and then the will to receive and the will to bestow were already integrated, and when the worlds of BYA, of Klipot, shells, were created and what is the addition of the new desire where the person is created among them? That to start with, he’s built of these things. What is the additional desire of the souls that were created?

R. The difference between a man, Adam, and a beast, and all the more so with the vegetative, animate and still, there is an essential difference. In our world we don't see it. We see a human, we see a beast, and if you ask doctors they will say that there are bigger differences between animals versus the difference between a man and a cow, let’s say. There is not such a big difference but rather the difference, and also in terms of the perception, we are not yet studying correctly and sufficiently in order to say that animals exist in a more primitive manner than ours. They are capable of building and preparing everything for themselves whatever they need for their lives. They actually live in a way that is much more functional and rational than us. Yes, they are not doing anything redundant, but rather it is all according to the commands of nature. They feel whatever the Creator is demanding from them and they do it without any criticism, without agreeing with it or anything, they just do it automatically. This is called the animate level, that is, the animal keeps 100% the Creator's desire over it.

Then comes the degree of the speaking and the speaking exists inside his ego, he has a certain disconnection from the upper force. Well of course, this disconnection also comes from the upper force that does that to him on purpose. The speaking, the degree of Adam, he starts to do nonsense, meaning seemingly not in agreement with the upper force and not in the Creator's desire, seemingly the Creator does not operate him but rather he wants to be greater than the Creator. We want to build a tower that wants to reach the heavens as it was in Babylon, it's a symbol. In that he reaches very special states where he starts to discover the deviation above the degrees of the still, vegetative, and, where his ego wants to rule the whole of reality. His ego does not agree with the Creator and he wants to be above all the forces of nature. This is how he wants to advance.

S. Can we say that the souls are just the degree of Adam and the worlds are the degree of still, vegetative, animate?

R. In the souls, there are the degrees of the still, vegetative, and animate, however they are just inside of Adam, the human, these are simply the degrees of the intensity of the attainment of the force of bestowal. This is called Neshama.

S. This is due to the sparks that fell?

R. Yes, when we actualize these sparks these records we reach degrees of bestowal and those determine the magnitude or the height of the soul.

17. S. (43:37) Can we say the shattering of the vessels is that light left the vessels?

R. Yes, as a result of the Kli not being similar to the light, the light that exits cannot be revealed in such a Kli because there is a contrast between the nature of the light and the nature of the Kli. It can no longer exist inside the Kli, inside the vessel, and it disappears from it as if it exits it. You can say that it remains in the Kli but it is not felt there. What is felt in the Kli is only according to the equivalence of form between the Kli and the light.

18. S. (45:00) It is written that the will to receive, receives its sustenance from ABYA of Klipot. I don't understand how the worlds of impurity can give anything to anything. It is not clear to me how this works?

R. We are under dominance from above, either a large egoistic desire or a large altruistic desire. They both work on us and they activate us, as it says to hold onto a tallit. A tallit is a person. The good inclination and the evil inclination lead a person to correction. We can see that upon ourselves. One time we are in a state where we want to receive everything, feel it in ourselves and disconnect from the others and if not from disconnection from the others, then in order to dominate the others, control them; another time we want the opposite, we want some form of bestowal, of connection. These are forces that work on us, two systems, and we are between two systems. You always need to leave something to think about. What will you do throughout the day? You will not have anything to think about and your head will be freed, empty? That is not good.

S. I can't understand that we are increasing through bestowal but it seems here we can also have something through reception and impurity. We started to speak about this system the last few days, we talked more about the Klipot and read more excerpts about the Klipot and the world of Tuma’a. We need to feel what's going on, we need to understand how we can also grow with this will to receive in order to receive. Here it talks about sustenance, that it maintains it, how the other system is allowing the will to receive to be maintained. How does this all work?

R. We are only a will to receive and we have nothing from the Creator’s quality of a desire to bestow. But we receive bestowal from the Creator upon our will to receive. That builds in us an intention to use our will to receive in order to bestow. We are the will to receive and always remain a will to receive, and we cannot exit that. You need to discern, to differentiate between the will to receive and the intention to receive. The fact that my substance is a will to receive and that it will remain that way forever, that is, I am considered a created being. And the fact that I want my will to receive to act as if it is a desire to bestow that is the correction of creation. That's what I try to turn myself into, that's what I try to make of myself.

All of our studying is to draw the light that reforms that returns us to good, to give us the intention in order to bestow, to my desire. That is the entire benefit of the wisdom of Kabbalah and that is the only thing that we need to do. In order to reach that we build groups, study, all kinds of different means but in the end what do we want? That our will to receive will get the intention in order to bestow. The will to receive is already arranged from above according to the descendants of the degrees, and it is in its only to the extent that we can connect to Him, to adhere to the intention to bestow. Meaning we will not reach the next degree in the path if we will not have the strength to rise upon our current degree in order to bestow. We can do that, it's like in school first grade, second grade, third grade, and so on. That's how we advance, you cannot jump ahead, you need to go through every single grade. It is the same here.

19. S. (51:12) What brings us to draw, to extend the reforming light?

R. To draw the light that reforms it's mainly the trouble and suffering. The trouble can be physical, bodily, human and spiritual. Yes, the suffering that I feel in pain, in Hebrew it is ‘narrow’, I want to expand my state because it is pressuring me and then I ask for corrections. That's what it starts from, that I feel bad and then through being connected to the friends, and then through them I begin to make calculations with respect to the Creator, then I start asking for higher corrections, ones that are more detached from my animal and that way I reach in order to bestow

S. But how to begin with, do we get to such a disposition of feeling the spiritual trouble?

R. It's through Reshimot that fell in us in the shattering of the vessels in the shattering of the soul. Then we are in a state that we want to feel where we are, where we exist, and from that we advance.

S. Only out of the person falling into the society? It sounds like this is the only thing that can lead a person and change his direction to pay attention to spiritual troubles?

R. Yes, there are many parts to the place as it is written.

20. S. (53:30) When the Creator gives us some kind of a disturbance that we feel in our ego and we make the conscious choice to be in the intention to being above it, and use what He gives according to His intention of using it as a means to correct, is that considered using the will to receive in order to bestow? Is that the correct intention?

R. We gradually, slowly, slowly arrive at the right intention only at the end. All of our corrections are the corrections of the intentions, how we use what we have, how we use this will to receive that is all of our intentions. That's how we correct it more and more. Everything is measured according to our intention.

21. S. (55:00) If I understand it correctly, the evil inclination is because the created beings are receiving their sustenance from the world of Tuma’a and in order to bestow, is this in order to bestow from the worlds of Kedusha?

R. I understand it doesn't work out yet. On one hand, it's a desire and on the other hand, it's an intention, how did they become attached together? They become attached together because they are included in one another in one topic and we see that also in us. I use my desires but why, what for, what do I intend for, what am I drawn to? How do I see the bottom line? The result of my action, this is called intention. What am I operating for? So there is a will to receive and the will to receive has many intentions and we do not judge the action according to the desire itself and the action of the desire but rather according to the intention. You bring a little child to see something, and he sees, let's say, one person takes a knife and he sticks it into the body of another person. So to the child it is obvious or to somebody who doesn't know what is happening, that this is a crime and in another instance you bring him to the operating room and he sees the same thing, that one person is sticking a knife into the other’s body and he gets paid for it even. Everyone respects him so what is going on here, what is going on is simple, what is he doing it for, to whose benefit is he doing it or is it either for his own benefit in order to let's say to express his anger or in order to heal somebody else. This is why we say we never take into account the action itself but only the intention, the nature of the action to whose benefit does it happen. In our world we understand this somehow when we feel it we are used to it but in spirituality it works in a very sharp way, it's only according to the intentions, the spiritual world seemingly filters for us all of the corporeal actions and in general all of the actions and what remains is only the intentions, the spiritual world is intentions everything is measured by intentions, it is made by the intentions.

22. S. (58:31) The system of the shells it gets nourishment directly from the Creator? Or is the person also involved here, the system of the shells it gets nourishment from the Creator directly or is the person also adding here some nourishment by his own actions?

R. Yes, sure, there is a system of shells and holiness that they have some relationship between them and through our actions we create a new relationship between them and we want more and more forces to work from the side of holiness. We are passing from the side of the shells to the side of Holiness. All of the sparks, Baal HaSulam has many examples of the king wanting to transfer his treasure from one place to another.

S. It is clear that we are trying to shift things from one from impurity to Holiness but maybe we are operating to make it worse?

R. No, maybe we are capable of only acting ourselves and then realizing how we acted incorrectly and even that we need to understand that it's done with agreement of the upper force that we must have all of these things and we must go through all of these things just like we have many such examples in history. The prophets where they knew in advance about all of the ruins that would happen and also how Jacob told his sons in Egypt about the destruction of the first temple and the second Temple and so on and Kabbalists they expected this, they anticipated it in advance. Just like Rabbi Akiva said “I knew that it was bound to happen but until the destruction of the second Temple took place, that I now am witnessing, then I had some doubt and now I have no doubt that the Third Temple meaning the final correction of the vessel will arrive”. We need to go through this through our exertion, it's like you need to study in school if you want to study 10 years then for you that is for your benefit and you go through it positively enjoy it, if you want to study but if you do not want to study than what suffering you have every day when you have to go to class and you pull yourself to do it. So it all depends on our attitude, if you have a group and this group awakens one another, it all depends upon awakening between the friends and nothing besides that can work, even the Creator can't work. The correction between us that we influence upon one another is much more than the Creator can act upon us, it is all given to a person that is within a group.

23. S. (01:02:42) What is reception in order to bestow in the 10, how is it manifested?

R. This is to transfer everything I get from the Creator to my 10, and I want to fulfill my 10 with all of that and raise them to the next degree. That is what we need to do, so for that I need to be included with all of the friends, when I am included by them I need to feel that desire, their intentions, their inclinations, to be inspired by their deficiencies and with this incorporation that I received from them, I raised that to the Creator. So it turns out that I am the first and I pull them forward and that is how it is with each friend in the 10. Rabash writes about it in the articles on Society.

24. S. (01:04:10) We asked for the light so that it will correct our will to receive. Why did the Creator need another system of impurity in order to activate us through that system? What is the reason for it?

R. The reason is simple: if I now place you inside of a room that is filled with light, and there is nothing there that can create shade then you will not see anything in that room, you will not be able to identify anything. S. In total the bad that he does it is our flaw that it seems to us as bad?

R. Of course.

S. So love covers all transgressions with the friends and the Creator?

R. Let's say, there is none as wise as the experienced. Start doing it and you will see.

53. S. (02:22:45) Rabash writes in this article that if we want to work only for the sake of the Creator this is hard work but Baal HaSulam and Rabash explain if we feel happiness we're doing the work wrong so how does this work?

R. We want to reach equivalence of form with the Creator not because we want it but because he enjoys it.
