Part 1: Rabash. Abraham Arose, Record 353.

Reader: Hello, we are reading in the book of writings of Rabash, third volume, article 353, “Abraham Rose”. You can find the materials on Sviva Tova and on Arvut.

Abraham Arose”, Article 353

Reading: (00:28) “Abraham arose from before his dead, and spoke to the sons of Het, saying...”

Baal HaTurim writes, “Ten times ‘sons of Het’ in the portion since one who scrutinizes the value of a wise disciple, it is as though he observed the Ten Commandments, in which there is the letter Het ten times.” We need to understand why one who scrutinizes the value of a wise disciple is as though he observed the Ten Commandments, and also, where is the proof in the verse?

The Zohar interprets that Abraham means the soul, and Sarah means the body. The soul is regarded as the light that dresses in the Kli [vessel], which is called “body,” and is the will to receive. We must distinguish a portion for the will to receive that is called “body,” meaning give a place in the earth. The will to receive called “body” was sorted out of the 320 sparks that fell to BYA, and the Klipot [shells/peels] grip the sparks of Kedusha [holiness] that fell into BYA.

When we want to sort out for Kedusha, when we scrutinize the body to make it a Kli [vessel] that is fit to receive the soul, at that time the body is called “wise disciple.” It is as Baal HaSulam said, that the Creator is called “wise,” and if a person learns from the Wise then he is called “a wise disciple.”

Hence, if the body, called “will to receive,” learns the quality of the Wise, meaning to be a giver, the body is called “a wise disciple.” Yet, this is impossible before we observe the Ten Commandments, as our sages said, “I have created the evil inclination; I have created the Torah as a spice” (Kidushin 30b), meaning that through the Torah we can defeat the evil inclination.

This is the meaning of “One who scrutinizes the value of a wise disciple, it is as though he observed the Ten Commandments.”

“Grave” is the resting place of the body. Hence, there are graves of idol-worshippers, and there is the Cave of Machpelah. As was asked in The Zohar, sometimes it is written, “the Cave of Machpelah,” and sometimes it is written “the Field of Machpelah.” He interprets in the Sulam [Ladder commentary on The Zohar] that the duality is the association of the quality of mercy with judgment, that Malchut rose to Bina. There is Malchut of Bina and there is Bina of Bina, and there is Bina of Malchut and there is Malchut of Malchut. The meaning is that the body should receive a correction of the quality of mercy with judgment.

Hence, the scrutiny should be for the will to receive, which is the quality of judgment, to be included in the quality of mercy, and by this the body will become a Kli that is fit to receive the light of the soul. He needed to receive the consent of the sons of Het, meaning he had to give them something so they would not slander the body. This is similar to giving a portion to the Sitra Achra [other side] in order to remove it and be saved from it.

At that time, the soul, which is the quality of Abraham, can reside in the body. This is called “the revival of the dead,” meaning that the body is revived from the state of the breaking of the vessels and the sin of the tree of knowledge, which is the meaning of the “shedding of organs.” By the corrections of the quality of mercy with judgment, the body is corrected and is called a Kli in which the light of the Creator, regarded as a soul, can reside.

M. Laitman: This is in essence, a short article that clarifies these things.

Question (Turkiye 2): (06:40) How can I guard my soul to be in the awakening all of the time? What balance for body and soul is required here?

M. Laitman: We have to worry about always having an awakening, and it's possible only when we are in a society of friends, where everyone cares for elevating the soul, when the desire to give that's not in us, that it would illuminate upon us. Then we'll be able to get up like this, and from the state where we are as if in an exile and disconnection from the Creator, then we'll connect between us, and we'll come to a state where the Creator can shine upon us, and then we can hope we'll come to when he shows us the light inside of Him, the light of the future world, the opening up of the soul, revelation of the soul, and this is called Abraham Arose. This means that Abraham wants to help the sons of Israel to get up, arise as well, to life.

Question (Kyiv): (09:32) It is said here. Hence, the scrutiny should be for the will to receive, which is the quality of judgment, to be included in the quality of mercy, and by this the body will become a Kli that is fit to receive the light of the soul. What kind of scrutiny does it have to be?

M. Laitman: It's a scrutiny of what Adam, a man, is with, his desire to receive or his desire to bestow, or both these desires. This is important to us.

Student: How do we conduct this scrutiny that includes in itself the quality of mercy into the quality of judgment?

M. Laitman: For this we need to arouse ourselves, awaken ourselves for a spiritual ascent, so that we can turn to the Creator, and demand from him to give us a higher degree, from which we can turn back to the Creator, and in this way renew ourselves on this new degree.

Student: Is the fact that he gives us this new degree His quality of mercy being manifested?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: How do we add to this quality of mercy the quality of judgment?

M. Laitman: We check ourselves what else we need to do, what else we haven't done, then we awaken in ourselves the quality of the judgment.

Question (Women MAK): (11:51) A kabbalist has a certain period allocated toward a correction and revelation of a certain desire?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Can a kabbalist not reveal and therefore not correct their shattered vessels and why?

M. Laitman: Yes, there are desires that are very hard to reveal. That's why there are kabbalists that don't fully reveal themselves to the upper light; they don't correct themselves in this way. That's why there are different degrees of revelation.

Student: So, what is the timely correction inside of the allocated time frame?

M. Laitman: Timely correction means that we push our soul towards elevation so that it would cause an illumination of fulfillment from above, and this way will rise constantly, and our ascent will be for the Creator.

Student: After correction, what does a person have to feel; what do they have to realize?

M. Laitman: To the extent of the correction, a person needs to feel that they've corrected something, and in what state they are in relation to the Creator, all the other corrections. This is his merit, and he needs to see this, feel this, and thank the Creator for giving these gifts.

Student: Do I need to guard my corrected desires, and how do they help the uncorrected desires?

M. Laitman: Corrected desires help the uncorrected desires get closer to correction, and this is how a kabbalist should act, gradually, gradually, from weak desires to stronger ones, from the ones that didn't suffer so much from the descent to coarser, bigger ones that suffered a lot from the descent into the ego, and this is how a man walks forward.

Question (Tbilisi): (15:31) Lately we've been thinking about what is lacking, where is this point where we can bring contentment to the Creator, and we come to the conclusion that the importance of the prayer is what is lacking. If it is so, then how do we raise the importance of the prayer in the whole world Kli?

M. Laitman: This really depends on the whole world Kli. We have to think about this.

We have to strive for this, and constantly awaken ourselves towards a bigger desire to turn to the Creator, ask Him, because everything depends on our request and His response.

Student: Is it correct to address the Creator with such an intention that it's specifically only He is able to provide us with this quality, meaning that we want, and He is able to truly give it to us with confidence?

M. Laitman: Of course, this is exactly the way it happens, but in order to achieve such an address to the Creator, we have to feel how remote from Him we are, and how incredible the actions of the Creator are when He helps us to rise.

Question (Women Turkiye 7): (17:36) Could you give us an example about the mix of the qualities of judgment and qualities of mercy? How does it occur in the Ten?

M. Laitman: This is a question. This is not simple, because we need to explain this to people that are not in the interaction. How can they feel the interaction of mercy and judgment? So, let's say we are cooking something. We add a little bit of salt, a bit of pepper, paprika, and other spices. It needs to be moderate, so it's not too little, not too much, and this is how we come to a good preparation of the dish.

Student: It is not clear how I can correct the judgment with mercy. Sometimes I judge, and then should I bring mercy into the picture when I start judging?

M. Laitman: So, how to connect the qualities of judgment and mercy? We can't do it ourselves. We ask the Creator to do this. And He, with the upper light, connects these two qualities that are opposite.

Student: In the text, it says, mercy should get corrected with judgment. I was thinking that mercy was a good thing. Now it says in the text that mercy should get corrected with judgment. I am very confused. Can you please explain it?

M. Laitman: Yes. The degree of mercy corrects the quality of judgment.

Question (Hungarian-Polish): (22:16) What does it mean to receive the agreement of the sons of Het so that they would not burden the body?  In the beginning, it says, and Abraham rose from before his bed and spoke to the sons of Het. Who are those sons of Het?

M. Laitman: They are parts of the group that are walking with Abraham. But in essence, they bring about many...

Student: It is said that we have to receive agreement from them. How do we get familiar with the part that has to be returned to Sitra Achra?

M. Laitman: When a man goes forward and wants to agree with the Creator, when he begins to see what desires he has, what directions contradict the correction, and this gets in the way. Then he turns to the Creator and asks the Creator for help.

Student: This is the agreement of the sons of Het?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Women MAK 98): (24:42) How does the body learn the qualities of the wise one? How do we help for this to happen? And what is the most important in the current moment?

M. Laitman: We help the body by trying to unite and by raising a collective prayer. In this case, we awaken the upper light that corrects us.

Student: Can we consider a small self-annulment that gives us the strength for a bigger annulment?

M. Laitman: Yes, it always happens like this. That's why we shouldn't stop but clarify the smallest problems we have.

Question (Women Moscow 5): (25:50) I feel that this whole article is talking about interconnection. Are interconnection and unity the same quality?

M. Laitman: It's one quality.

Student: So, will the world approach such a feeling that it will have a desire to interconnect?

M. Laitman: It has to come closer, yes. The whole correction of the world is to make us get closer to each other.

Student: We'll come to them through us, through the Creator. How do we help this happen? Are we simply affecting them with the light?

M. Laitman: We affect it with our desire to rise above our qualities because we see the way these qualities prevent us from attaining the upper goal.

Student: Will they be happy from the fact that they feel that exactly interconnection gives them the joy of life and happiness? Will they get this feeling of lightness, I would say?

M. Laitman: This is what provides for us the connection between us. This gives us lightness and the feeling of an ascent, and in this way we rise.

Question (Women MAK 104): (27:35) What is the state that is called the Cave of Machpelah?

M. Laitman: The Cave of Machpelah, the field of Machpelah is where we can be connected with each other, with our desire and be rising to the Creator.

Student: Another question. On one hand, I have a feeling of the spiritual path, and on the other hand, constant egoistical doubts and stuff like that. How do I rise above my mind?

M. Laitman: Only together with our common prayer to the Creator. Try.

Question (Women Lithuania 5): (28:38) How do we fully appreciate all this environment and what you are giving us, because it feels so good to be here. It's the best environment ever that happened to us all.

M. Laitman: We have to connect between us and raise our unity so it will become all around the world. I think we are yet to see ourselves united in one common desire with one Creator for all of us. And this will be a state of higher unity.

Question (Women Kavkaz 1): (30:20) Can we say that coming closer to the good desires and distancing from the bad desires is determined by the reward that I want to receive?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: In the state when half of my heart does not belong to me, is it the work for the sake of heaven?

M. Laitman: Yes, also.

Student: What if I realize that I can raise my prayer only for the reward? Is it okay or should I strive to switch to work without reward?

M. Laitman: Yes, this is normal for now.

Student: Can I also say that for the sake of heaven is also considered a reward that I'm receiving?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Women Turkiye 10): (31:33) How will we know with confidence that we are awakening for spirituality and not in some illusion of the desire to receive?

M. Laitman: We only need to try and become more connected between us, and from our unity we shall strive to be connected with the Creator. This is the connection between us and the Creator. This is what has to give us a common understanding of our connection,

and inside of it, we attain all our Kli.

Question (Women MAK 113): (33:02) The balance for the soul and the body is when everyone in the Ten feels the extent of their investment into bestowal? And by this, a whole world Kli, a whole unity association we can bring to this unity and balance.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Women MAK 23): (33:49) In the time we build the force of bestowal, the force of love, what is mercy?

M. Laitman: Mercy is the fact that we wish to see our friends only in good connection between themselves, and for them to be close to the Creator.

Student: How do we combine the qualities of judgment and mercy in the Ten?

M. Laitman: That's a problem. We need a middle line here, and this is how we will achieve it. We have to ask about it. Ask about it.

Question (Women Spain): (34:59) The body is the desire to receive. If he learns from the sage, how can we learn to attain and judge correctly thanks to our unity in the Ten every day?

M. Laitman: We have to try to connect between us only for the sake of bestowal. This will correct us and will bring us to the correct interconnectedness.

Student: Only in the Ten in our usual life?

M. Laitman: Only in the Ten. In the regular world, it's very hard to achieve. It will happen later.

Question (Women MAK 25): (36:24) How do we correctly try to correct the deficiencies, the desires that are uncorrected, that are hanging on for years, maybe, as heavy stones?

M. Laitman: We're approaching this gradually. We're approaching heavier and heavier desires. We're approaching it. The thing is that the Creator reveals to us exactly the layer of desires that we are capable of correcting. Therefore, we don't have to run away from them, but exactly put them against the Creator, and then we will feel inside of them what is not good in us, between us, between us and the Creator.

Student: Will it be correct to pray here?

M. Laitman: Yes, of course.

Question (Women Moscow 6): (37:43) When we reveal the heart of the Ten, we come to this point of unity, we ask, we unite with the friends. How do we strengthen ourselves in this point of passing on the heart to the Creator?

M. Laitman: We have to unite between us, and in this unity between us, we have to precisely feel in our desires, in our thoughts, this common desire to unite, to correct.

After this, we have to unite and strengthen between ourselves more, so that we can pass what we're feeling towards the Creator, and the Creator will accept this common desire of ours and will start correcting it.

Question (Women MAK 97): (38:56) The article speaks of the graves of idol worshippers and the cave of Machpelah. Is it correct to say that the grave of idol worshippers is when a person stays in the desire to receive, and the cave of Machpelah is called double, because we receive two lights, the light of Hochma within the light of Hassadim?

M. Laitman: Yes, that's exactly what it is.

Question (Women Spain): (39:47) What's the difference between Hassadim in our world and Hassadim in the spiritual?

M. Laitman: Hassadim in our world is, you can say, mercy, when one is being merciful with another one. While the light of Hassadim in spirituality is the quality of bestowal that is shining from one clay to the other.

Student: Can we feel if someone is in Hassadim?

M. Laitman: How can you feel that somebody is in Hassidim? If I’m connected to him, then I’m filling his Kli and his direction, what he is striving towards.  Only like this.

Question (Women Hebrew 2): (41:31) With respect to us wanting the soul to be between us in the Ten, we managed to reach some unity. We asked the Creator to hold us inside of this, but we didn't succeed. So, what are we lacking?

M. Laitman: Only unity of yours. There's no other reason.

Student: What will give us this ability to unite in such a way?

M. Laitman: The Creator will exist in your unity, and if the Creator is revealing Himself, there's no more issue.

Student: If we are asking Him as much as we can, but we don't succeed, what else do we need to do?

M. Laitman: This prayer still does not reach the Creator.

Student: So, what are we lacking?

M. Laitman: Desire is lacking.

Question (Women Kyiv): (43:04) We often get the desire. How do we feel that we are in the Intention to bestow, and if a person has been rewarded with this desire, this intention, does this contradict the state of Lishma? So, if a person is working for bestowal, then they're just working without any calculation.

M. Laitman: How is it possible without any calculation? You have to see his desires, his intentions, to sort them and realize them, and this way you attain Lishma.

Student: So, in Lishma there is a calculation.

M. Laitman: Of course, absolutely. All our actions are calculations.

Question (Women Turkiye 7): (44:23) In the last sentence of the sixth paragraph, it says, the body must take the correction of compassion with judgment. The question is, how do we understand this last sentence? The body has to receive correction in connection with judgment and mercy. How do we explain it?

M. Laitman: After our corrections, after our prayers, in our interconnectedness with the Creator, we have to reach a state where we reach such an interconnection, when the portion of the measure of bestowal will cover all our relations. That's it. Therefore, we also need, even now—and it doesn't matter in what states we exist—to reach states where love will cover all crimes, when we will treat each other and everyone towards everyone with love and unity. By this, we will overcome and champion all the bad forces that constantly want to break through in our relationships.

Student: (46:30) I’m experiencing a situation. I’m in a dilemma right now with my friend. Part of me wants to go and love the friend, and part of me doesn’t want this. I don’t understand why the Creator has built these walls between me and the friend, and I feel like the love I have towards my friend disappeared. I want to go and connect with my friend, but I can’t. What should I do?

M. Laitman: In order for you to overcome this wall, and come closer to each other, so that you would have a place of unity, the higher one, a better one than you currently have. This is how it usually happens. Therefore, if you are ready for stronger and bigger unity, then the Creator is giving you such states, creating such states between yourselves.

Question (Women MAK): (48:41) In the Ten, we connect united desires into one directed at the Creator. And what should we do with the desires inside one person? Only the corrected desire strives for the Creator. What to do with the other desires?

M. Laitman: With other desires, it depends on to whom they are targeted. So, try to connect all your desires in one direction towards the Creator, in the connection between yourselves, and you'll see it all happening. Not from the get-go, but eventually it will work.

Question (MAK 24): (49:36) Being a student of the sages is when we are working with the reflected light, and the light teaches us how to act in these degrees, and when Malchut reaches the level of Keter, then we learn how to do it correctly.

M. Laitman: Approximately.

Student: And the stages of direct light are in Lishma?

M. Laitman: We'll be scrutinizing it later. It's a little too early. You'll be confused.

Question (Qazaqstan-Kyrgyzstan): (50:34) You are fifteen years older than I am. I'd like to give my heart to you, so you would be fifteen years younger than I. Dearest Rav, be with us forever.

M. Laitman: Thank you. I'll be, I'll be, don't worry. The connection between us is so strong that it won't break in time.

Question (Women Moscow 8): (51:27) To understand correctly, to work in the vessels of bestowal, we rise there with in faith above reason. So, it seems like there is a different address to the Creator, with a different feeling there. How different is it?

M. Laitman: With a feeling of the full bestowal.

Student: To the Creator, right?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Women MAK 43): (52:09) If a person consciously decides to stay in Katnut, to work for bestowal, his Kli continues to widen through work on the intention and Hissaron.

How do we make sure that being in Katnut works for widening the quality of bestowal and not avoiding the light of Katnut?

M. Laitman: It's from the fact, from what is happening to him.

Student: Can we assume that he's avoiding responsibility?

M. Laitman: Yes, we may.

Question (Women Brasil): (53:10) The quality of mercy is corrected through the quality of judgment because the excess of mercy can turn into a Klipah?

M. Laitman: No, no. It's not correct. Don't think like this. There's never too much Hassadim, too much mercy.

Question (Women Petah Tikva 33): (53:44) From the article, it seems like a whole problem of preparation for the Kli to make it suitable for clothing of the soul. Where exactly are we not succeeding and what do we have to pay attention to, to work on it correctly?

M. Laitman: We think that we have vessels that can receive the revelation of the Creator, but it's not correct. We don't have vessels like that. We still have to try to come closer to them until we feel they are growing in us.

Student: And in order to get closer to Him is through prayer?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Italy): (55:53) Why is the desire of receiving called quality of judgment?

M. Laitman: Because it wants to receive everything for its own sake. Therefore, it is called a measure of judgment.

Question (Women Turkiye 5): (56:58): How do I know I've succeeded in correcting the desires?

M. Laitman: Because in your new desire you can, you're able to love everyone.

Question (Women Spain): (57:34) Can we think about what is being discerned? How do we know a desire is true or it comes from the ego? How do we know if the desire for bestowal we feel is true or it comes from our ego, from the desire to receive?

M. Laitman: It's only according to the desire. There's nothing else to do here.

Question (Women MAK 51): (58:40) In one paragraph before the last It says that “…the body should receive a correction of the quality of mercy with judgment.”  And then it says that mercy has to be included in the judgment and then it can receive light. How do we clarify and include the desires together?

M. Laitman: We include two opposite desires to receive and to bestow, and we try to do it until we see that our desire to receive is able to be filled with the light of Hochma in the light of Hassadim. In this way we start perceiving correctly everything that exists.

Student: And then uncorrected states are uncorrected combinations when something prevails?

M. Laitman: Yes.

That's it. This we have to finish now. See you tomorrow, my dears.
