Lesson 4, “Arvut in the Ten”

Rabash, Article No. 4, 1984, “They Helped Every One His Friend”

Student: Beloved friends, we’d like to enter the lesson number 4 of the Congress, “Arvut in the Ten.” The Tens of Ashkelon and Netanya together are rewarded with preparing this lesson. We heard that we are connected already, we are together. In this lesson, we would like to realize the Arvut between us. We now are saying:  "Hinei Ma Tov U'Ma Na'im,"  “How good, now pleasant it is for brothers to sit together”. We are just like the friends of Rabbi Shimon, we are in Arvut. They reached Arvut. We also want to reach such Arvut between us and the Creator. In this lesson we will learn what are the laws of the Arvut, we will implement them in the Ten during the lesson, after the lesson, and in general.

Student: Yes, friends, so from this lesson we want to emerge, or rather even now we need to feel that we're entering this Arvut, it's not just about learning about it, we want it to come true right now. So let's begin the lesson with an excerpt from a lesson from another Congress, and I will quote, of course. We'll have half an hour where we want you to take some writing implements, and any rule of Arvut that you hear during the lesson, this will be a recorded lesson, so every lesson, everything that you hear in the lesson about Arvut, write it down. And if you have things, questions, inspirations, things you want to share with the Ten later on, write those down as well. So let's start our lesson, a lesson on the subject of Arvut, please.

M. Laitman: (02:39) I would say that this is the foundation of the construction of that part of Adam HaRishon that we need to build in order to discover the Creator in it, and become the people of the world to come. The condition for connection, for it to be the right connection, as it was in the vessel prior to the shattering that happened during the sin of the Tree of Knowledge, the condition for connection is called Arvut, mutual guarantee. Arvut is a solid guarantee, absolute guarantee, mutual within the Ten, between all members of the Ten, that we will adhere as one. Our points in the heart are simply like ten drops of water, they become, they merge into one big drop, where you cannot distinguish one from another. And then, in that state, when we build the Arvut, according to that, we receive the revelation of the Creator within that Arvut, within that connection between us. Now, we've attained the connection, and then maybe I can draw this for you. You don't know, I'm a painter as well. And so, do you have the…, do you see the board? Over there. But I forgot what I wanted to draw now. Uh. So, let's say we are now in a certain specific state, the whole Ten, and we come to a circle, Arvut, mutual guarantee. If we come to Arvut, ten people, then inside, in the connection between us, we build a field. And within that field, a field of connection between us, where we are all included as one, we build this one point within, from ten points in the heart. And then, in it, we discover the Creator. Now, we've discovered Him in the difference between how here we're connected, oh, wait, excuse me, excuse me, where here we are connected together, ten points. Ten points, here, together. And here, we have, can you see it over there? This is the ego of each individual. Ego one, ego two, ego ten. They are not connected. And in the gap, the divide between connection, between the connection and the ego, in that gap, you see, we receive the revelation of the Creator. To the extent that the difference between our ego and the point in the heart which is connected, united. The bigger that gap is, the more the Creator is revealed in a higher intensity, higher degree. Okay, so we're done with that. What happens next? The moment we're done, a simple law is at work here, whereby, immediately, from this place, we are elevated to a different degree, a different level. Here, it was one, number one. And here, it'll be the number two, a new degree. All in all, there are 125 degrees. What happens on the next degree? The same thing. The same group, the same ten friends who need, again, to construct that point in the heart. And again, in the divide between the point in the heart and the ego, this delta, here, the Creator will be revealed. However, because there is a difference - a very big difference here, between the first ego and the second ego, this is a very, very big ego, it's skipped to a completely new degree - then the Creator is different to the first Creator. Everything is different. And so we rise.

M. Laitman: (10:51) The light which is revealed on the first degree is called Nefesh. And here, it's Ruach, and so on - Neshama, Haya, Yechida, and more, in total, 125 degrees until we reach the end of correction on the 125th degree. That is how we ascend. And so, where do we receive the revelation of the Creator, the sensation of the upper world, in the connection between us? According to the condition called Arvut [mutual guarantee]. The Arvut comes to the group from the force of correction, from above it comes. Of course, we do not have it, and there is no hope that we will ever be able to build it ourselves. One who wants to correct himself, corrects himself by becoming a guarantor for his friends. How can he be a guarantor for the friends? How can I guarantee that the friend will become spiritual? Am I the Creator? I am like him. I am nothing. Maybe even worse than him. How can I sign for him that I guarantee, I promise him that he will become spiritual? It's... It's inconceivable. Because at the root of the souls, we are considered as one, because there is one soul. If I help my friend become as one, I guarantee his spirituality, I sign. I sign because within my power, within my hands, in my hands I have the key to his spirituality. You hear how severe this is, right? His soul, this friend's soul, depends on me. Now, how do I sign? What pledge do I offer? How do I commit? And how do I implement that obligation? What reaches the friend and in what way? What do I deserve and in what way? All that we can scrutinize, but the first principle is that I am holding in my hands the friend's spirituality. Either he dies as a beast or he reaches the degree of the Creator, Adam, becoming spiritual. And that depends on me. That is how it is in each Ten. Each one determines the spiritual fate of the other. And so we need to be very attentive to that. And it follows that this doesn't depend on the Creator. Rather, each one holds the fate of the others. See, what the Creator did? Making us utterly, completely dependent on each other, where I cannot do anything by myself. The opposite, actually, and we'll read about it. One who prays for himself causes ruin to his soul. It's only for the sake of the others, meaning my friend in the Ten. If I ask for the entire Ten, then they rise, and they elevate me as well on the condition that I actually ask for them. And not that I ask for them so that I will end up ascending, where I consider them like a kind of elevator that takes me up rather than  Bnei Adam, humans. No, that's not how it is. I have to pray for them as if they're my dear children, where I have nothing more precious to me in my life. I want them to rise. I want them to achieve adhesion to the Creator, and I'm willing to assist and remain empty-handed. Otherwise, it would be in order to receive a reward. There's a lot to talk about here, but it's a very special thing.

M. Laitman: (17:00) Two. If we want to receive the correcting force, we have to stand against all disruptions as one man in one heart. I don't care who has this disruption in the Ten. I accept it as my own personal disruption. We are talking about spiritual disruptions, corporeal disruptions, those we will speak of at another date. It's not so important to us. Meaning, we need to take care of this ascent and the spiritual upliftment of each friend. And truly, opposite all those disruptions, we have to stand together. Everyone as one heart. And so, in the group, it is forbidden for us to hide spiritual matters from each other. I don't need to go and tell them about, I don't know what, but in general, my spiritual state, they should know about it. Because if I don't speak, then it's like a person who's sick and doesn't go to the doctor. He may die. For us, the group is the doctor. And so the group must know about the general spiritual state of each member of the Ten. Each one, if so, needs to remove himself from self-love, not to think about himself. And his entire desire, his direction is only towards benefiting the friend, those who need it. And perhaps, I truly need it more than others, but I'm still thinking about the others. Because only in that way, when the group is healed in a general sense, then my healing will come as well. Having a group that goes to connect together, there is nothing that belongs to one individual, because we belong to a single body. And so it follows: my foot is over there, in one of them, and my head is there with the other, and my hands, kidneys, hearts, liver, lungs, and so on and so forth. It's all dispersed within the group. When we connect everything back together, then each one will see that there are no individuals here, but rather one single body called Adam. And so, no one can take care of himself. The prayer needs to be for the general connection. In spirituality, there are no problems, except for us being shattered, severed from each other, disconnected, detached. And so, if I pray for what pains me, then it's the opposite, I'm driving myself away from the group, away from healing and treatment. So the direction has to be entirely towards carrying the Ten in a healthy way, where each one completes the other. And they bond together, all the friends, and become as one heart, because only then they are qualified to receive the reforming light, the surrounding light. To the extent that we yearn to be together, to assemble all the parts of the broken vessel, to that extent the light works according to our intention. It works more intensively and connects us.

M. Laitman: (21:39) Let's continue. When a person begins to feel his friend's heart, immediately joy and pleasure awaken in him, when I discover suddenly that the friends think about me, they care about me. I didn't discover it before, and now I discover it. Try to think about others in such a way, about those that you're together with, even now in the group. So, when I begin to feel that they care for me, immediately I feel joy and pleasure, because the fact that the friend loves me, it is new for me. I never felt it before, because I always knew that only I care for myself, but the moment that I discover that the friend cares for me it awakens joy within me, an inner warmth. Do you feel this inner warmth if you think that way? If not, then you're not thinking of each other. Try to think like that, and then joy comes. He can no longer be concerned about himself, but rather he feels a drive, an eruption, to care for the other. Why can't he care about himself anymore? Because a person can exert only in a place where he feels pleasure. Meaning, if I'm not lacking something, I can't think about it. If a friend is already thinking about me, I cannot also think about the same problem. And once he begins to feel pleasure because the friend cares for me, I begin to think about the friend, and I feel pleasure in that I care for him. And out of that, of course, I cannot think about myself. Well, I'll give you an example, again, from our life. A mother that is thinking completely only about her baby, who is sick. She has no thoughts about herself, but only that he will be healthy. And if she has fever, or flu, or something, it doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is that he will be healthy. In spirituality, if I care for someone else, I will always be healthy. If I care really well for the other, he will feel it from me, and he will also be healthy, and this will obligate him to care for others. By me bestowing upon him my concern, my care, I also obligate him to apply such a concern towards others. For us in this world, it is also expressed in education. I know that if I give an example to my children, even if they don't want it, when they grow up, they will also behave in this way. It is well known to us from this world. So this is something similar to what we do in concern for others. There is a special power in the adhesion of friends, since the views and thoughts pass from one to the other through adhesion. Therefore, each one is incorporated in the forces of the other. And by that, each one has the forces of the entire Ten. This means, just like in my drawing, when we go up to the second floor, each one has the forces of the general first floor. Here we acquired a first force, called the Creator. Here, each one of us has that same force of the Creator inside, Creator - one, that first one; and we already work with it in order to reach the second floor, what we call Creator - two. This means that always what the whole Ten has and it attains, it passes on to each one. The essence of love and unity is in the desire, where each one is pleased with his friend. He executes his friend's desire, and there is no difference in desire between them. And they're all incorporated in one desire. By this, they're incorporated in the desire of the Upper One, which is the essence of unity. This means that the most important for us is to reach unity between us. Each one searches for how can he be with all the other nine in a complete way, simply incorporated there, dissolving there.

M. Laitman (Source Text/Commentary): (28:59) Last one for now, last quote. An individual must not ask for himself, even to give contentment to the Creator. He must not even reach correction, correct the world, do good to others. In general, it's forbidden to ask for oneself, but rather only ask for the group, for the group as one, not less than ten. And if we even see a friend who truly needs help, we still have to ask for the group. It's impossible that it will be good for him if it is not inside the group. Because one who asks for his own soul causes ruin, inflicts ruin upon his soul. He brings his soul even more down towards the corrupted desire. Imagine this to yourself. I turn to the Creator, and I tell Him: “I want to be corrected. I want to do everything for You. Whatever You do, I'll do all of it. Bring me closer to You. I'm willing to be Your messenger in each and every thing, in each and every place.” I, through all kinds of such beautiful, nice prayers - if I turn about myself, even if I Him for hard work, no reward - but it is I standing before Him, meaning just a part of the system, who wants to stand out from this entire system. By this, Baal HaSulam writes that I inflict ruin upon my soul. He lowers his soul even more down towards the corrupted desire. Because each and every friend in a group depends only on the general state of the entire group. Therefore, each one must add with all his force to the group. Add forces to the group in all of his appeals to the Creator, in prayer and in work, and one should include himself in the center of the group only. So that whatever happens to the group is happening to me. I don't want to think about myself being separated from it in any way. And by that, they all emerge from the will to receive towards bestowal.

Student: (32:06) Friends, spirituality depends on me. What a clip, what a Rav clip about the principles of Arvut. We can only thank our Rav. Oh, by the way, I forgot about that. I hope you remembered to write something. Yes? So let's continue our work together. Let's summarize the rules of Arvut that we heard about just now, all the groups around the tables, all the Tens, please nominate a person who will write things down, put things to paper, all the words of the friends. Good luck.

Workshop.

Reader: Dear friends, we continue. We will now hear an excerpt from the Georgia Congress together. This is from the Rav's words, let's hear it together, all of us. We want to hear the Rav's words, all of us together from the heart of the Ten.

Reading: (39:35) Excerpt 1 - Twice

After such an important process of preparation, I think that we should hold a special lesson. Arvut. That is the most effective means in our disposal for achieving the purpose of Creation. And what IS the purpose of Creation? And what is the Arvut? The Arvut manifests as me being the absolute determining factor in my friend’s spiritual state. Meaning, each of you now needs to turn to the friend and explain why he is still not in the spiritual world. Here, turn to each other like that, and say why you haven’t yet made the effort you could have made for the friend to rise to the attainment of the upper world. That is your assignment.

(Georgia Convention, Lesson 2, September 2017)

Reader: Friends, we'll read it again, together, in the heart, with the heart of the Ten.

Re-Reading.

Student: Beloved friends, we have a huge surprise. We received, truly, a gift from above. We know what it is like when there is a deficiency, a good deficiency, a directed deficiency, friends. It is a strong deficiency, and truly, we had a great deficiency to hear and see our Rav, to feel him. So, we will receive it now.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (43:06) Rav, we're on the second day of the Congress, and there's a great excitement in the friends, and we all feel this seriousness in everyone. What do you recommend? What is your guidance today for everyone?

M. Laitman: Everything is open to you.

Student: Friends, again, we are going to see, to watch a conversation, a part of a conversation done with our Rav. Really, not too long ago, when he gave this conversation with the friends, let's enter this conversation together and try as much as possible to feel the Rav and adhere to him. So please, let's watch it.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (44:00) Rav, this is the second day of the convention. There's a very special excitement in the friends. We feel this seriousness in everyone. What do you recommend? What is your guidance today for everyone?

M. Laitman: Everything is wide open before you. I think that we need to be more precise in getting closer between us. This is what we lack. And our correction also depends on our incorporation, on the annulment.

Student: What is that precision that we need to add to our connection?

M. Laitman: That each one should annul himself, his self, towards the general group, and that he shouldn't lack anything else.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (45:18) Rav, over the years, you led all the conventions. You would give all the lessons. You'd activate us, guide us, dictate to us. Now it's the first convention that we, the friends organize, the Tens. We read Rabash together. We watch clips of you. We discuss things in workshops. We have cultural evenings. We sing. There's a very nice connection. But the question is, what is the new connection with the Rav in that situation?

M. Laitman: The new connection is in that you will be more and more dependent between you. And my connection will be in that you will feel from the flow of the materials, from the flow of the conversations, where you need to be more, in which topics.

Student: So from the mutual dependency in our Ten, and the connection between us, and connection to the texts, what will we feel there, in us? What do we need to feel there?

M. Laitman: In the connection between you, there should be a deficiency, an appeal to the Creator. And that's it. There is no more than that.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (47:09) In the connection between us, through that, we connect to the Creator. Where does the teacher enter in, the Rav, according to the orders of the degrees? You are our upper one. You are our teacher. So where are you in this order of connection in the Ten, my connection to the Creator? Where is the teacher here? Where can we feel him?

M. Laitman: Between the friends.

Student: We will feel the teacher between the friends?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: We will actually feel your directions, your advice, your direction?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (47:53) If a friend feels that he misses Rav, we want to see you, hear you, what would you tell such a friend? What is he actually lacking?

M. Laitman: We need to check; we need to check well whether this inclination brings us closer to the Creator.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (48:23) I'll ask a personal question. How do you connect to Rabash?

M. Laitman: I can't say.

Student: We want to learn from you. Is there a method how to connect?

M. Laitman: It is written. It's written.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (48:49) Yesterday, you talked about how we are already in a connection. There's nothing to scrutinize. There are no scrutinies in this Congress. We just need to enjoy, to enjoy the connection that we've attained. We've prepared very much, and in this congress, I'm saying right, we don't need to make an effort to connect, because we're already connected.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Accurate. So, is that a new state? We were never in such a state. Usually, it's a great effort. Let's do this, do that. But now, it's seemingly just to enjoy things. We're not used to just enjoying the connection, let's put it that way. Is it a new state?

M. Laitman: No.

Student: A new exercise?

M. Laitman: The Creator, Rav, only wants connection out of us.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (50:05) Do you feel our efforts to connect the world's Kli, assembling in a convention, do you feel the efforts?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Does it fulfill you?

M. Laitman: I, along with that, feel that we need to add more.

Student: In what?

M. Laitman: We need to add more. I mean, maybe a more friendly connection.

Student: After such a great gift, yes, yes, friends, applaud. We connect when we pray, when our deficiency is properly directed, then we receive. Let's share our impressions of what we just heard. Six minutes.

Workshop.

Student: (57:35) Dear friends, we heard now from the Rav that we need to add. That we need to add more. Now we're in the middle of the Congress, what else can we add? We seemingly have done everything, everything we can, but no, the Rav says that we still need to add. Let's take 30 seconds and each one will think about what can he add? What can I add? Later on, we would like to hear, we will want to hear you. So, what can I add now?

Student: I see the friends are ready. We’d like to see your hand up in the air. Maybe questions in the Arvut system as well, the second floor also. We have the friends with the red hats, with the microphones waiting for you here, and the floor number two. So please, what can I add? Because if not, if not, we'll just approach people directly, right? Yes, we have hands, please. Let's keep it brief. And again, what can we add?

Student: We would like to add in prayer, to feel the hearts of the friends more, to connect it to the heart of the Ten.

Student: To make concessions.

Student: We are thinking that besides the fact that we already add love, and as you said, annulment, the most important is, in each and every place, to add the Creator to every action.

Student: More Creator in every action.

Student: A friendly deficiency, a deficiency for friendship.

Student: To add in responsibility for each and every friend, men and women.

Student: Add such fire, lightning, that will simply awaken the whole world and the world will feel this upliftment from us, the addition of the open heart, love for the whole world, the whole of creation, so that everyone feels it after our convention and today.

Student: Friends, behind every friend stands the Creator. We want to hear what the friend, men or women, what they say, and take it to implement it, here and now.

Student: If my friend didn't reach spiritual attainment, that should be the thing that pains me, that my friend didn't reach spiritual attainment, yes?

Student: I think that within our efforts, we should reach a common despair in the Ten. And this will bring us to an outcry and crying from our common heart, as one man in one heart. This is how the Creator will hear our outcry.

Question (Latin 1): (01:03:25) The main thing is that our lack should be a cry to the Creator.

Question (French 1): (01:03:54) Some kind of yearning that brings despair on the one hand, and hope on the other hand. We have an opportunity to do it now, not to wait for tomorrow, and to try to extract the maximum benefit from this Congress.

Student: I wanted to present to you a new friend. This is his first time in a congress, and I want you to hear his heart speaking.

Student: I wanted to add that we need to receive the desire to take the first step towards the friend and fill the gaps, the distances that separate between us, not to wait for the friend to come to us, not that he needs to listen to us, look at us, accept us, but we need to go towards him.

Student: We would like to say that we represent the World Kli. It's one big world Kli. There's one bride, and the groom needs just the agreement.

Student: We need to ask the Ten for forgiveness for the fact that all of my prayers were only for myself.

Question (Siberia): (01:07:14) Dear friends, what else can we add? There is nothing to add. There is not a single person here who didn't make the choice from all of those who are here connected with us in the direction of bestowal. Here you can only ask for greater joy and connection with the Creator, that He will feel it and enjoy from it.

Question (W Argentina): (01:08:10) We ask for the choice to choose the environment and the Creator.

Student: Thank you, Argentina. Please present yourself. Everybody wants to hear what the friends are saying and become incorporated. We want to add all of this. We lack all of this. We want to add it. Please.

Question (W MAK 167): (01:08:38) Hello, everyone. I represent MAC 167. We want to add faith in the Ten and in the World Kli.

Question (UK): (01:08:57) This is my first congress and I'm with UK One. Our prayer is - intensify our request for the Creator to make us as one desire in order for my Ten to come into adhesion with the Creator.

Student: Thank you, beloved friends. We would like to take everything we just heard from the friends, all of it together, to put it in the hearts and to start implementing it, to start acting on it. And now we'd like to sing together.

Student: Oh, we have one last one. Please.

Question (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan): (01:09:57) We wanted to add. We are here, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan Ten, Turkey. We wanted to add in our efforts. We wanted to add to the occasion for all our spiritual friends. Yes. And each one who came here, who is here, needs to feel a demand to the Creator, every moment to ask the Creator for light for the friends, not just here, but all over the World Kli. Lehaim!

Song: (01:10:48) A song.

Student: (01:13:39) Friends, please sit down. We would like to continue, so please sit down. Yes, dear friends, we would like to continue. Let's be seated. Concentrated focus and work, delving deeper after we have received this great gift of hearing the Rav. We heard his guidance. And we heard the friends, what we need to add. So now we're taking all that inside. We're entering an inner work. So please, friends, let's be seated. Let's be quiet. Let's help each other. Let's do it fast. So, we heard from the Rav: “The Arvut is expressed when I completely determine the spiritual state of my friend.” Let's hear it again. “Arvut is determined when I completely determine the spiritual state of my friend.” So let's think about it. Everyone thinks, why haven't I done yet the same effort I could have done so that my friends will rise to the attainment of the upper world? Now we're going to talk about it in our Tens together. In what am I a guarantor for my friends to rise to the attainment of the upper world? Let's talk about it again together. In what am I a guarantor that my friends will rise to the attainment of the upper world? Let's go.

Workshop.

Student: (01:23:07) We just heard the deficiencies of the friends, and we realized that the friend's spirituality depends on me, and I need to feel it very well deep inside my body, deep inside my soul. So we continue with this scrutiny more. The friends are imprisoned in their will to receive, and the keys are in my hands. What do I do with those keys? Do I put them to the keyhole and release them, or how can I deliver my friends from imprisonment?  Let's hear our Rav, and let's add more principles to the prescription of our Arvut between us. Clip number two, please.

M. Laitman: (01:24:10) From here, it should be clear to us that alone, if a person is not connected to others, there's no room for work for him. He has no possibility to perform any spiritual action, and there's no place, there won't be any corrected spiritual desires, where he will discover the spiritual world, the Creator. And therefore, all of the spiritual work is specifically in the Arvut, in the connection between us, where each one is a guarantor for the other. This means that he performs corrections that exist in the other; and the other, his friend, can carry out corrections for the deficiencies that are revealed in him, in the first one. And in this way, we need to look at it. We will see it even more; it will become revealed in the Ten. We need to think well about it. We see something that's very close to us, and when we reach it, we actually see how it is revealed and is carried out quickly. That is, what does he say? That each one must keep the desire of the friend, and there is no difference between their desires, because they're all incorporated in a single desire, and when they are incorporated in a single desire, they're incorporated in the Creator. This is how we work. This means that if we want to define the matter of our Arvut, what is Arvut? Arvut, means that I correct the desire of my friend. This is what Arvut means, and this is the only spiritual action that I can do, and if I do it, then I'm giving the Creator contentment. Only in such a way. What does it mean to be a guarantor? To do instead of the friend. To make a correction that the friend feels exists within him, and I perform this correction. From this, we can understand better, more correctly, more deeply, what does it mean that a prisoner cannot free himself from imprisonment? No one can correct whatever is inside of him, but rather only the friends can correct him, and he by himself cannot do it, but rather he can do it towards them, but not towards himself. But rather he should feel himself that he is in prison, and if the friends help him, then he will be corrected, and if not, he will not be corrected. The fact that I connect to a friend. And I feel his deficiency, and I make corrections in order to raise his deficiency to the Creator. It's no longer his deficiency, it is my deficiency. So then I do this work, that is, I can pray only for the friend. It's no longer called a friend, it's called me. That is, a deficiency that I discover in a friend is my deficiency. My spirituality exists in him, and I need to raise his deficiencies to the Creator. And what about me? I only carry out his action. So it turns out that only the friends can save someone from prison. Who are the friends? The I, the corporeal me, I save the spiritual me, which is the desires of the friends that exist in the friends. I raise them to the Creator.

Student: (01:28:54) We heard, the contentment we can give the Creator, and I have, the Ten has, an opportunity to tell the friends how dependent I am of them. If I will be able to move them, to awaken them, they will remember it, and they will deliver me from imprisonment. Everyone turns to the friends, telling them in what he depends on them. When the friend addresses the Ten, we want to move him, we want to fill him, we want to fill his deficiency. We want to rise a MAN for him from the Ten. Every friend tells the Ten on what he depends on the friends. Again, every friend tells the Ten on what he depends on the friends.

Workshop.

Student: (01:36:15) Dear friends, if you happen to read this book, “LeMashal”, or example, it's the book of allegories. We're going to read from it.  “We see the order in the world is that the gratitude one gives to the one who does a favor for his friend, the magnitude of the favor is according to the measure of gratitude he received from his friend. For instance, if someone helps his friend in something little he was missing, then the gratitude is also a small gratitude. And if it is depicted for a person that he was imprisoned, that he was sentenced for life, and another person came and delivers him to freedom, what gratitude do you give him? All his organs are in gratitude to this person who saved him.” Again. “We see that the order in the world is that the gratitude one gives to someone who does a favor to his friend, the size of the gratitude is according to the benefit he received from his friend. For instance, if someone helped the other with something little, small, he was lacking, so the gratitude is also a small gratitude. And if it is depicted to a person who was in prison, that he was sentenced to a life sentence and a person came and delivered him to freedom, what gratitude you give him? And all of his organs are in gratitude to the person who saved him.”

Student: We did a long path together, a constructive path, so we can feel already the waves of warmth that are coming in, the pennies drop, questions come up. This is exactly the right moment for us to ask ourselves, if we truly begin to feel that we depend entirely on each other, in what can I help the friends? We chose to add to the study materials a short article by Rabash, that truly closed on everything we talked about so far, the article, "Each One Shall Help His Friend." And while we read it, we can check ourselves, how much are we applying the advice of Rabash? How much are we there already? What gaps can we find in us, within us, between us? So let's start reading.

Reading: (01:39:41) Rabash. Article No. 4, 1984. They Helped Every One His Friend

Article No. 4, 1984

We must understand how one can help his friend. Is this matter specifically when there are rich and poor, wise and fools, weak and strong? But when all are rich, smart, or strong, etc., how can one help another?

Student: In what can I help my friends? Let us think about it together. How can I help my friends? Silent workshop, how can I help my friends?

We see that there is one thing that is common to all—the mood. It is said, “A concern in one’s heart, let him speak of it with others.” This is because with regard to feeling high-spirited, neither wealth nor erudition can be of assistance.

Rather, it is one person who can help another by seeing that one’s friend is low. It is written, “One does not deliver oneself from imprisonment.” Rather, it is one’s friend who can lift his spirit.

Student: Let us now, let each one raise a prayer. I am praying for the friends that the Creator will deliver them from imprisonment. I pray for the friends that the Creator will release them from imprisonment.

This means that one’s friend raises him from his state into a state of liveliness. Then, one begins to reacquire strength and confidence of life and wealth, and he begins as though his goal is now near him.

Student: What should I do in order to raise the friend into a spirit of life? What should I do in order to uplift the friend into a spirit of life?

Reading: (01:43:36) Rabash. Article No. 4, 1984. They Helped Every One His Friend

It turns out that each and every one must be attentive and think how he can help his friend raise his spirit, because in the matter of spirits, anyone can find a needy place in one’s friend that he can fill.

Student: Beloved friends, now we understand how much we depend on each other, how much we need each other, and that none of us will succeed in saving himself from imprisonment, and I can't do it without my friends, and here there must be our Arvut between us. Let's now embrace together and take advantage of this moment. Every moment in this Congress is very significant, and also now we must, we must reach together a prayer for our friends, for the Creator. Our teacher is expecting it from us, that we will do another exertion, another effort, another deficiency for the friends. Let's feel how special this occasion is, and how much we are all standing here and now, the entire Kli, no one is missing. Let's turn to the Creator together and ask Him to help us care for each other. That's what I want to do my whole life, our whole lives. This is what we want, to be in our Arvut for our friends, that He will give us the force of our Arvut, so let's make another effort. Let's hold this demand in our heart all the time.

Reading: (01:46:12) 4. RABASH, Article No. 19 (1984),”You Stand Today, All of You”

“You stand today, all of you ...your heads, your tribes, your elders and your officers, every man of Israel.” It begins with the plural form, “You” [plural form in Hebrew], and ends in singular form, “Every man of Israel.” The author of the book, Light and Sun, explains that by using plural form and singular form, it points to the matter of love of friends. Although among you are “heads, tribes,” etc., still no one sees greater merit in himself than in any man of Israel. Instead, everyone is equal.

M. Laitman: (01:48:07) You stand today with your free choice to make a covenant between you, to create this condition between you where each one awakens the other. This is called Arvut, that each one cares that the other will have a minimal life, spiritual life I mean, of course. And minimal, means that I perform some efforts so that the other one will always have some opening, some reminder that the most important thing is the quality of bestowal. The most important is connection. And this is the only thing that we lack. And from here on, once he receives from me this question, this reminder, he already continues. Already this supernatural question awakens in him and he can keep going. And in that, we make a covenant between us that we commit. This is called Arvut, that we will think that each and every friend in each and every moment will awaken towards the quality of bestowal, the quality of love to discover the broken place between us, the lack of connection between us. And then when we will all awaken, this prayer that we must have this connection is a prayer of many, it will bring us the reforming light that will connect between us. And then we will discover in this connection the force of the Creator, the general quality of bestowal.

Student: (01:50:31) Now we are in that occasion where you are standing here today. We got excited so much, we wanted so much, we did everything we could. We is the entire World Kli, all the mighty friends who made everything possible within their powers. Now we are in that state. Now we are all together, we want to thank the Creator for giving us the opportunity, this chance of being in this occasion of “You stand here today.” We've been through a very special lesson together, and we know how much everything depends on the Creator. And we want to thank Him for the lesson we've been through and for the opportunity we were given. Today, with the praise and gratitude, we want to ask together in our Tens, let us compose a common prayer to the Creator so that He will be a guarantor for us that we will never part. Again. Let us compose a mutual prayer to the Creator that He will be our guarantor so that we will never be separated, that we will never part ever again. Go ahead, friends.

Workshop.

Student: (01:58:08) Dear friends, beloved friends, we are standing, we are alert, and we demand. We are standing here before You, we stand today before You, holding hands, a painting without a picture, dots in the sky, our hands are empty of deeds, our hearts are ash and dust, there is nowhere else to turn to, we've reached the point of breaking, and today, we call upon You, when You are near, today, we demand You, teach us how to love.
