107. “The Lord will open to you His good treasure, the heavens.” When the Creator created the world, He first created the upper sixty, sources by which to bring down a rain of blessings and upper sanctities of above. They first take from the source of life, Bina, from the upper place from which the sixty emerged.
108. This is so because at first, before the world was created, one desire arose and was revealed, a hidden thought, AA, Keter. He placed everything in that hidden thought, all that was and will be. And from that thought, Keter, arose the desire to create the world. And a fine stream came forth, upper AVI, which incorporates the concealing of the thought, and it is not heard and not revealed outside, meaning that the Hochma in it is not revealed.
In his ZAT, which are called YESHSUT, there is the looking of the Hochma, which is given to the wise at heart whose soul clothes YESHSUT. The Hochma is not revealed from them and outwards, meaning it does not shine from above downward, but from below upward, and those who are not in their place will not be able to receive from them.
109. Five sources emerge from YESHSUT, HGT NH of ZA, and one that is concealed, Yesod of ZA, and one that collects everything, Malchut. These sources existed when the world was created, as it is written, “In the beginning, God created the heaven.” Beresheet [In the beginning] has the letters of Bara Sheet [created six]. Six is the source that collects all the sources to it, HGT NHY of ZA, to nourish the worlds.
Malchut is called six and not seven, referring to Malchut of the key, which is not actually Malchut, but rather Yesod of Malchut. This is why it calls her six, as Yesod is called.
110. “The heaven” are the six upper sources of above, HGT NHY of ZA, to give to the six, Malchut. Since the day when the world was created until the Temple was built, these sources were concealed and did not open whatsoever to bestow upon Malchut so she would nourish the world.
111. But Abraham was in the world; did the source not open for him? It is written, “And there was famine in the land.” Thus, they were hidden and did not bestow upon Malchut so she would nourish the world. Isaac, it is written about him, too, “And there was famine in the land,” in addition to the first famine. With Jacob, it is written, “And there was famine in all the lands.” As for Moses, it is written in several places, “Who will feed us,” and it is written, “to kill this whole assembly with hunger,” and “the people thirsted there for water,” as well as “And there was no water for the congregation.”
112. With Joshua, too, although they went into the land, it is written, “The manna ceased on the day after they had eaten the produce of the land.” In the days of the judges, it is written, “In the days when the judges ruled there was famine in the land,” and it is written about David, “Now there was a famine in the days of David.”
113. What is the reason for the hunger that was in the days of these righteous ones? It is because those sixty, HGT NHY of ZA, were not open, and the world is nourished sparingly from the extract, without any opening at all, but like sweat dripping down from a tree or from a stone.
114. When King Solomon came and the Temple was built, and all the worlds were of one weight above and below, when ZA and Malchut were face-to-face, equal to each other, that six, Malchut—who receives and collects all those upper sixty, HGT NHY of ZA—was opened.
115. The six, Malchut, was opened when those upper sixty were opened, HGT NHY of ZA. And when the six, Malchut, opens, blessings come out to the world. It was opened when a slant serpent that sits by its feet was removed from it, the Nukva of Sam, the source of all the shells and the evil.
And when that one was removed, the Sheet [six] became a Shir [song] and the good treasure was opened. It is written about it, “The Lord will open to you His good treasure.” By whose force was it opened? By the force of the rest of the sixty, HGT NHY of ZA, who are called “heaven,” as it is written, “the heaven,” meaning the songs, which are HGT NHY of ZA, which were all opened and established to give food to all the worlds.
116. Then it is written, “And Judah and Israel dwelled safely, every man under his vine and under his fig-tree.” It is also written, “Eating and drinking and being merry,” since the six, Malchut, and the sixty, HGT NHY of ZA, were opened, and all the upper delights were coming down to all the worlds, and all were delighted to go up to the upper world, Bina, to collect blesses and delights for the worlds.
At that time, love for the upper king, ZA, awakens from them, that all will be one, ZA and Malchut, without separation. Then the praise that transcends all praises to the king that peace is his, Bina, is that everything will be in gladness above and below.
