Can computers become completely independent with their own mind and desires? They will be able to do anything besides one thing: to be like a person who can develop. It is impossible, because here we need to add to a person the higher force that is above the person, the divine force of the Creator, which cannot be programmed. Computers cannot develop the upper force because they would need to be connected to it. And one can be connected to the upper force only under the condition that one has a point from that source, from the Creator, which is called a part of divinity from above. It is simply impossible to characterize this point, because it is in connection with a second and more exalted nature of love and bestowal. We cannot program a computer to develop such qualities in the same way that we cannot program desires, only the actions that come from the desires. Programmers working with AI explain that we can build a system that will be smart, that learns as it goes, that develops and becomes much smarter than how we initially made it. Still, there is a limit that computers will never be able to cross. They cannot be sensitive. They can perform different actions where they are as if sensitive, where they as if feel, but they cannot feel, because feeling belongs to desire. You cannot take a piece of metal or silicon and make something that will feel out of it. You can simulate, but not that it will feel in and of itself. We do not understand what happens within matter itself. The desire does not belong to matter. It is above matter. It is called a part of divinity from above. A computer in the end will remain a robot. However, by its brain and its reactions, it will be a trillion times smarter or more useful than a person. The person, however, will win in the end without a doubt, that is, as long as we will not program the computer in such a way that the computer will finish us off. For instance, we now have nuclear bombs which can destroy anything, but they have no intellect of their own. In order to ensure our future we have to think about a completely different kind of development. We will have to realize that artificial intelligence and other new technologies are unimportant. What’s important is the soul’s development, the part within us that is completely dormant, where through its development, we develop something that is truly special in us, and which makes us more exalted than nature. This is where good fortune is found. In the end, nature will surely win. Within nature, there is a general divine mind, with “divine” meaning from a different level that is above us—not from the level of computers. It is from the level of the force of bestowal, love, and connection. This force does not want us to build computers. On the contrary, it wants us to become similar to itself.
