Reader: Dear friends, for the first part of the lesson we will watch a recorded lesson from October 19th, 2021. Baal HaSulam, “Shamati”, #26, “One’s Future Depends and Is Tied to Gratitude for the Past.” You can find the text on Kabbalahmedia.info as well through the Arvut platform. Now, in the recorded lesson from yesterday, we return to that article even though we read the subsequent article, and so we also will go one article back.

M. Laitman (Reading): (00:47) Shamati, article #26, “One’s Future Depends and Is Tied to Gratitude for the Past”

M. Laitman: Meaning, to the extent a person knows and understands what he has been through. Meaning, how the Creator is leading him until this point that has great influence on his future, and how he will advance.

M. Laitman Reading: It is written, “The Lord is high and the low will see,”

M. Laitman: Meaning, the Creator is high, He’s very high, that to see Him, a person can only to the extent of his lowliness that he acquires. It’s not really that clear that only the low can see the exaltedness, even it becomes more unclear. Maybe it is clear to us because we know that we are in our egoistic desire. So, to the extent that we lower ourselves from this level of the ego, lower ourselves down, and accordingly when we overcome our ego, then we can better see the Creator.

M. Laitman Reading: (02:10) The letters Yakar [precious] are the letters of Yakir [will know]. This means that one knows the exaltedness of a thing to the extent…

M. Laitman: Meaning, in attaining the Creator, in attaining connection,

M. Laitman Reading: to the extent that it is precious to one.

M. Laitman: Meaning, the exaltedness of connection between the friends. That one is impressed according to the importance of the thing, that it is important to us to connect in the group. By that, we can connect to the Creator, to that extent we receive an impression.

M. Laitman Reading: The impression brings one to a sensation in the heart …

M. Laitman: From the external impression. “External”, means in my mind, that I imagine all these things for myself. Then, I come to the fact that the heart begins to be impressed.

M. Laitman Reading: and according to the measure of one’s recognition of the importance, to that extent, joy is born in him.

M. Laitman: That's the way it always is the importance of the thing that I engage in, it brings joy.

M. Laitman Reading: (03:32) Thus, if one knows his lowliness, that he is not more privileged,

M. Laitman: Meaning, not more special, etc.

M. Laitman Reading: than his contemporaries, meaning that he sees that there are many people in the world who were not given the strength to do the holy work even the simplest way.

M. Laitman: Meaning, that they will think about godliness, that they will listen to it, that they'll want to know something about it. Many people around us don’t need this, don’t want it, they’re completely indifferent to it. Even if we would want to explain them about something, they’re incapable of hearing, they are not yet ready, they are not internally prepared. The Creator has not brought them to that level of ripeness that they can think about the purpose of life, the meaning of life. They’re thinking only about today. They cannot be in the holy work even in the simplest way, just slightly even be tied to it, that there is in the world that I too wanted even passively.

M. Laitman Reading: Even without the intention and in Lo Lishma [not for Her sake]

M. Laitman: Meaning not in bestowal and equivalence of form with the Creator

M. Laitman Reading: even in Lo Lishma of Lo Lishma

M. Laitman: Even not yearning for it, they can’t and don’t want to, they don’t see it as a goal at all.

M. Laitman Reading: and even in preparation for the preparation of the clothing of Kedusha [holiness],

M. Laitman: To feel something that comes from the Creator towards the human beings.

M. Laitman Reading: while he was imparted the desire and thought both of them to at least occasionally do holy work,

M. Laitman: Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Sometimes he has some awakening and then again, he falls, he comes to a state of indifference, disregard.

M. Laitman Reading: even in the simplest possible way. Again, “while he was imparted the desire and thought to at least occasionally do holy work, even in the simplest possible way.”

M. Laitman: Even he comes to the lesson, he doesn't really hear, understand. He doesn't even have a desire to participate but he continues, he somehow continues, mechanically completely only, completely mechanical. With Rabash there were students who didn’t understand what he was speaking because they did not know the language, and he used to say, let them sit, they will know the material even without knowing the language. It is true, I saw such people that suddenly they started speaking in their own language, let's say in French. When they started speaking and they understood, they started explaining in French what they got. We see that without translation, without reading, without writing, without hearing a single word of the Kabbalist explanation, from literally the air, they get this influence through the environment and from the sky, you could say. That’s how it is, they advanced and they understood. There are many entrances to a person's soul that enable it to develop even not through eyesight, smell, touch, taste, hearing.

M. Laitman Reading: (07:48) If one can appreciate the importance of this, according to the importance one attributes to the holy work, to that extent he should give praise and thanks for it.

M. Laitman: Meaning, if a person is grateful that he has even a small contact with spirituality, not about when we are constantly, you know, whining about it - where is what I thought, where is what I expected? But, if a person is grateful even for the tiniest measure, for the single penny that he got from the Creator, an opportunity to come closer, to feel, to know that he is in contact with the upper system. If he can appreciate the importance of this, according to the importance one attributes to the holy work, to that extent he should give praise and thanks for it. There has to be even the tiniest point of contact with the upper force, and that is enough in order to expand this contact to a very wide pipe through which you will be able to receive all of the upper light. It all depends on the person, if he has a point of contact with the Creator that awakens him, invites him to connection with Him. Everything else is dependent, not on disrespect, God forbid, but on only appreciation and gratitude.

M. Laitman Reading: (09:27) This is so because it is true that we cannot appreciate the importance of being able to sometimes observe the Mitzvot [commandments] of the Creator.

M. Laitman: All these commandments are to come closer to each other and to the Creator, to know the system of Adam HaRishon.

M. Laitman Reading: even without any intention…

M. Laitman: Because a person says sometimes, what can I do here, I don’t have the right intentions, I am just following my own thoughts, I’ll have nothing from this. That is not true. To the extent you can, you need to appreciate it as being the greatest possible thing. Then, you will see how from your side, according to your soul, you’re grasping and clinging to the center of reality.

M. Laitman Reading: (10:18) In that state, one comes to feel elation and joy in the heart.

M. Laitman: If he faces this point of connection that the Creator gave him.

M. Laitman Reading: The praise and the gratitude one gives for it expand the feelings, and one is elated by every single point in the holy work

M. Laitman: It all depends to what extent he gives it importance,

M. Laitman Reading: he knows Whose servant he is,

M. Laitman: By being grateful, by having even a tiny point of connection even through a single thread with the Creator

M. Laitman Reading: thus He soars ever higher.

M. Laitman: He doesn’t need more than that.

M. Laitman Reading: (11:13) This is the meaning of what is written, “I thank You for the grace that You have made with me,” meaning, for the past, and by this one can confidently say, and he does say, “and that You are destined to do with me.”

M. Laitman: Meaning, that a person’s future is dependent on the past. If we don’t disregard the past if we appreciate it, from the appreciation of the past that we kiss all of the forms of connection, positive, negative, it doesn't matter. Everything we arrived to today, that it all comes from that same source, from the Creator. If we appreciate that with all of our heart, by that we build the correct form towards the future. That’s what the article says.

Article 27 - Baal HaSulam, “What is the Lord is High and the Low will See”

M. Laitman Reading: (13:15) How can there be equivalence with the Creator when man is the receiver and the Creator is the Giver?

M. Laitman: How can there be equivalence? A connection could be - this one is giving, this one is receiving, but the equivalence, being equal, meaning, according to the qualities or the actions, it’s supposedly being opposite from one another.

M. Laitman Reading: (13:42) The verse says about this, “The Lord is high and the low shall see”.

If one annuls oneself then one has no authority that separates him from the Creator. In that state the one “will see,” meaning he is imparted with Mochin of Hochma.

M. Laitman: If a person annuls himself, meaning, he has no authority over himself he is just annulled. He's not there, supposedly, as if he does not exist, willing to completely annul before the Creator. Just one thing, to be annulled towards the Creator. Not that he annuls himself and does not exist at all. He wants to be in annulment towards the Creator and that is a big difference. This already demands great work on our behalf, the work of annulment, that I am constantly restricting my desire to receive in order to receive and opening myself to resemble the Creator as much as possible.

M. Laitman Reading: “and the high will know from afar.”

M. Laitman: If a person annuls himself, he has no authority that separates him from the Creator. He annuls himself, his ego. And then, what the Creator wants, he too wants and what the Creator doesn't want, he also doesn't want and in that he is in lowliness towards the Creator.

M. Laitman Reading: (15:42) In that state one will see, meaning he is imparted with Mochin of Hochma

M. Laitman: Mochin of Hochma is called seeing, so he will see, only in such a way under that condition. There's another part of the verse

M. Laitman Reading: “and the high will know from afar.”

M. Laitman: Except for seeing you can also know and that depends on the distance.

M. Laitman Reading: (16:19) However, someone with pride, meaning one who has his own authority is distanced, since he lacks the equivalence.

M. Laitman: Meaning, there is another issue here in seeing that accept it is written: “The Lord is high and low shall see,” so, in that lowliness there are few conditions. What is one condition as he explains that as much as a person lowers himself annuls himself, according to that he can reach seeing the Creator. That is on one hand, he is rewarded with the Mochin of Hochma. But here, “The high will know from afar,” however someone with pride meaning one who has his own authority is distanced, he moves away. He has a distance from the Creator since he lacks equivalence. What did the Creator create this for? He explains:

M. Laitman Reading: (17:45) Lowliness is not considered one’s lowering oneself before others.

M. Laitman: No. We don’t need towards the others, towards the world, towards everybody to show ourselves that were nothing as if we are invisible and airy. Like sometimes supposedly spiritual people show us. No, on the contrary, if we are speaking about “the greater than his friend, his inclination is also greater too.” Specifically, those who have reached high degrees and have a much bigger ego than simple people have. But they can sustain it and manage it, conduct it, not erase it but conduct it.

M. Laitman Reading: This is humbleness, lowliness is not considered one’s lowering oneself before others. This is humbleness and one feels wholeness in the work.

M. Laitman: Someone who lowers himself towards others, he gets a degree. Inside he feels calm, he feels whole. What can I do here? I am dust, I am nothing. He thinks simply and then his ego is even bigger. He thinks he is low, rather lowliness means that the world despises him.

M. Laitman Reading: Precisely when people despise, it is considered lowliness for then he does not feel any wholeness,

M. Laitman: For sure, because we are in the world, we are in the environment where everybody and the whole world jumps on these people who engage in the wisdom of Kabbalah or even have a distant root to the wisdom of the Kabbalah. The world can smell it and they want to annul those. So, the world despises them.

M. Laitman Reading: (20:18) Precisely when the people despise, it is considered lowliness for then he does not feel any wholeness,

M. Laitman: Then this person has two states - either he follows the opinion of the many, and then he wants to act before them that he is just like them and he takes their customs and culture and education in life or the opposite, that he stands his ground quietly and holds on to himself according to spiritual laws.

M. Laitman Reading: for this a law that what people think influences a person. Therefore if people respect him, he feels whole; and those whom people despise think of themselves as low.

M. Laitman: This is why he has a problem. How to cope with the knowledge and the opinion of the world around him. Let's say, us in Israel, Bnei Baruch feel very much how the people of Israel relate to us, the general public. And obviously, we need forces to be able to still overcome the negative attitude towards us and to put ourselves in a stable manner against them. It is desired not to do it by annulling them Who are they? What are they? I don't care what they think about me. No, not like that. By me increasing my attitude towards the Creator that I am connected to Him, that He is great in my eyes and that is why I by increasing in my eyes I'm connected it to the Creator, by that I can cope with the negative attitude of the environment towards me. Is this point clear?

Question (PT 35): (23:03) We always speak of this study that enables us to connect to spirituality, and that spirituality begets within a person an additional sense, and it is important for us to also draw upon us the surrounding light. The question is, this inner resistance of the ego and overcoming it, is that speaking of a friend in the Ten or overall of the Ten that resists internally to the ego then overcomes it?

M. Laitman: I do not understand you. We need, as much as we can, to be connected to the Ten and I don't care how my ego talks about it. We need to annul it towards the Ten, and the main thing is to adhere to them. Read Rabash articles about society again. We are talking about not towards the Ten from a person but the attitude of the world towards us, towards the entire Bnei Baruch and here we have a different kind of work. The fact that I feel that the whole world is disregarding us and we feel in Israel and maybe overseas too, relatively. Even though they are very big and not so obvious, but the fact that if we here feel that we are being disregarded, we do not need to fight against it. To explain ourselves, yes. Mainly, why does it come? So, we will internally be able to raise the greatness of the Creator in our eyes above all of these disturbances. I kiss the stick. I thank those haters. I thank them that they hate me because specifically that hatred awakens me more to increase the Creator in my eyes. This is my goal and in this way I advance.

Student: Meaning, this awareness is always emotional?

M. Laitman: I always need to be connected to the Creator. Why is He doing it to me? I'm not calculating anything towards humans or to the world on their own. But how by that I can strengthen my connection to all the means that can bring me to bestow to the Creator, to the purpose of creation.

Question (Latin 6): (26:41) Question about dissemination. The pandemic gave us an opportunity to disseminate and you were ahead in terms of explanation of what is going to happen to someone without spiritual attainment to be able to understand. Is it good to make clips from what you said in the beginning about the virus when it first started spreading?

M. Laitman: Do it. They say in advertising there cannot be anything bad. As much as people hear about it, so it will bring them closer to our source. So, do it.

Question (Unity 2): (27:42) Please tell me, why practically can’t we reach the point you speak of?

M. Laitman: What point?

Student: The influence of the external world on us?

M. Laitman: Every person, wherever he is, whichever environment, whichever language or country, he is getting an influence according to that. He needs to understand that wherever he is and according to that, the Creator is working on him in order to help him advance towards the goal. You can live between white bears, polar bears, or you can be in the jungle, and you can be Israel, or you can be in Africa, it doesn't matter where. The main thing is that according to the data that you were given, the conditions you were given, you connect to the purpose of creation. This connection that you try to perform, it will give you a direction in life, it will. You can start feeling as if everything revolves for you to change your environment, wherever you are, so you can come closer to your Ten, so you will start being organized in the lessons more, and so on. The main thing is dissemination. You could be participating correctly, that’s it. In this way, we need to see ourselves, in that you will advance.

Student: Is there a difference if this bestowal, if its influence comes through relatives or…?

M. Laitman: No, it is not important. There are many ways to get to the goal, we each have a lot of disturbances. We have to understand that all those sources of disturbances come from the Creator and, we need to overcome above those sources towards the connection between us and towards the Creator. Now we will have a workshop. We read these two articles, so let's speak between us. What do I take out of this? What are my summaries of this? How do I summarize the first article and the second article?

Question (Tel Aviv 4): (38:35) Can you say that there are two forms of work in the Ten? That it is good to humiliate oneself, to keep the pride inside, and outwards to be prideful that I have something to give in dissemination and inside feel still lowly?

M. Laitman: Yes, that is correct. Towards the external people we can’t show ourselves as low, no. Towards the friends we have to show them that the lower I make myself and appreciate the friends. It doesn't really have to be so external, but the more his heart is connected and organized in that way, so he is preparing himself correctly for revealing that inner force, the Creator within the group.

Question (Florida): (39:44) It says, “meaning, he is imparted Mochin de Hochma,” and “the high will know from afar.” You said this has to do with distance. What do you mean by that? What does this mean?

M. Laitman: Yes, because he annuls his will to receive, from in order to receive and then he can start working with in order to bestow. According to that, he can already receive the light of Hochma. He goes through the border between the light of Hassadim [mercy] and the light of Hochma [wisdom].

Student: What does this mean that “he will know from afar”? Something about distance?

M. Laitman: Even if the Creator seems to a person that He is in a great distance, but according to equivalence of form within man, he is supposedly… The Creator means come and see, Bo-U-Reh, that’s what is revealed in us. If a person corrected himself with the light of mercy, Ohr Hassadim, according to that light of Hassadim that he has reached, that was revealed in him, it doesn't matter to him where he is, whether close or far, the light of mercy has no limitation. That is why a person cannot organize himself in such a way that from a distance he starts feeling the Creator as close, because he has annulled his ego. Now, he has only one problem - how by attaining the degree of Bina he can use his vessels of reception to awaken them again in order to bestow to the Creator, to really receive from the host and give Him contentment. Then, he has opposite work.
