Part 1:
Rabash. Article No. 24, 1989. What Is “Do Not Slight the Blessing
of a Layperson in the Work?”
Reading Article: (00:40) “The Zohar says, ‘Do not slight the blessing of…’”
1. S. (32:58) In truth this article when you read it feels like a war of Armageddon. I'll tell you why, on the one hand, it says that you have to be certain that when you shift to the left line, you're able to pray. How do you reach a state where you are certain because of the left and the right. It is all given to us by the Creator. How can I be on the right line and consciously shift to the left and then make a prayer to the Creator because the left in itself should bring me to a prayer?
R. So?
S. Is it under man's control?
R. You have to start and see.
S. Well that's one thing, and the other is the matter of pride he depicts how pride gives us the hardest problems. How can we avoid it?
R. This is done through work in the group.
S. What does the person do when suddenly he feels that his Ten is falling apart?
R. What he sees with his eyes he needs to check if is it truly so.
S. Should he make this scrutiny with himself or scrutiny with the Ten?
R. It's a scrutiny with himself, possibly with the Ten but in effect, his work has to be as whole as possible.
S. Meaning does he feel it if it's whole or not within himself?
R. It's possible that yes.
S. It's possible that no?
R. It depends on which level he's on.
S. How does he know that?
R. How can you tell? According to his relationship with his friends his attitude towards the friends.
S. Well I guess I have what to work on.
2. S. (32:26) He describes here and not for the first time almost in every article he describes the right like that, I'll try to read, he says that even though I'm not able to appreciate the importance of my fortune that the Creator has chosen me at least for some service. We should be in joy and so he struck a fortune in corporality and how happy he would be then, and that joy gives him the strength that he can believe in the Creator of this good that does good. In many articles, he describes this grip on the right at that point seemingly sounds like something that's not so simple. I mean what now? I'm proud of what? That the Creator has chosen me? I'm thinking about myself so that must not be it.
R. That you have even a small grip and the Creator you're happy not because he chose you that's beside the point but because from this point on you can develop in your qualities.
S. Is joy about myself or joy about the Creator about the greatness of the Creator?
R. Relative to the Creator.
S. What exactly is it about? This joy? What is this joy in relation to the Creator?
R. To develop bestowal to the Creator.
S. That he has now awakened me to it?
R. Okay but after this awakening that the Creator does certainly, He's the first. A person begins to participate in connecting to the Creator to try to grow the connection between them.
S. Where's the Ten here?
R. Well the Ten is beside the person, he understands that his grasp of the Creator his bestowal to the Creator can be only on the condition that he participates with the Ten, he's incorporated in them and they in him and so on and so forth.
S. That’s as he describes a different trigger here which is the beginning of the work on the right?
R. Yes.
S. From there the whole matter and everything of the Ten it's only a means to expand it even more. Okay so here comes the question, it's always the question. Now how does he know that now that the time has come when he is certain that he can start working on the left and it won't destroy everything?
R. No, it's not talking about that yet.
S. He writes here that a person has to raise his hands with faith. To raise the hands means to look at what he has, he should be certain that he's not going to destroy the right, so from where comes this confidence come?
R. He's not using the left for the time being.
S. So it's only the right?
R. Only the right.
3. S. (39:00) He writes that before he shifts to the left line he writes the following, a person should usually walk on the right line and it is permitted to walk on the left line only when he's certain that he will be able to pray for his flaws and from where do we take this confidence that he will be able to pray?
R. He’s going to the left in order to respect the right, to awaken the right, to raise it otherwise he would never have touched the left.
S. He has to reach the wholeness of the right and in the meantime when he hasn't yet reached the wholeness of the right, what does he do with the deficiencies, the flaws that he discovers in himself?
R. He doesn't use them, he comes to the right and is certain that he has a grip on it then he begins to awaken the left to the extent that he can include it in the right.
S. Only over those deficiencies that he discovers after he has reached the wholeness of the right?
R. Yes, that he has something already.
S. Okay, now I read something else that to appreciate his lowliness when he's on the right he should appreciate his lowliness. Which means he should appreciate the fact that the Creator has let him see his lowliness or is it something else?
R. Yes, the Creator lets him see his lowliness as he wants him to work with him in order to raise the right even more.
4. S. (41:04) He writes there that when he starts to appreciate his grip on spirituality then he has joy. My question is, is the right line truly to simply engage in it all the time and not look at whether I feel joy or I don't because we see that these moments are few, so it's simple to feel this joy already. Meaning each time we have to do some work and appreciate it, and appreciate it, is that what it means the right line?
R. Yes.
S. These feelings I should yearn to feel or is that it? I mean the right line needs to engage in appreciation.
R. To engage in appreciation means that I constantly appreciate it more and more.
S. Seemingly to look less at whether I was successful to be in joy or not but simply to engage in it that means the right line?
R. Yes.
5. S. (42:27) This article felt like a remedy from all the stress that we feel on the path. I'm asking with respect to what do we do with the purpose of creation that presses the person to achieve his wholeness. There is the purpose of creation that pressures us and on the other hand, when you read this article, you calm down completely. You don't feel pressure because of the purpose of Creation. The Creator awakens something in you, and you adhere to it, you cultivate it and you have nowhere to run to. Is that okay to be like that in spirituality?
R. Why, what do you think this way?
S. Well I wrote down another question. Why do you think on the right line the question is who leads a person is that he by himself, or is that the Creator that is leading him?
R. The Creator.
S. Because he pushes you less or puts less pressure on you to simply follow the Creator then when a person has to run by himself it feels like he calms you down, is it okay?
R. It's possible that a person responds more and reacts more if the work of the Creator is touching his will to receive.
S. Is there spiritual work that doesn't put pressure? Doesn't put one under stress? Should it be like that other person always feels stressed?
R. What kind of work is it?
S. It doesn't coincide with what he writes here. I read this and entered Nirvana I came down completely. I don't live the way he describes it here. I am always under stress. When I have some more connection, I have the right intention and I'm not in it. It doesn't coincide for me the way he describes it, but I want to live the way he describes it in the article.
R. Meaning you don't feel it in your desire that the Creator is awakening you? Ok.
S. I feel that he does awaken me a little bit and then I have to chase after the awakening and continue it.
R. But only from the side of the bad and not the side of the good.
S. Yes, yes.
R. Well, that's a problem.
6. S. (45:24) What does it mean that he raises the destitute from the litter?
R. From the litter it's clear. Litter and waste are the worst possible things. When a person who feels himself that he's in the litter and he's walking there he can't get out of there, eventually he understands that only the Creator can save him. This is from that He will raise the destitute from the litter.
S. Is there some condition in order for the Creator to save him from the litter?
R. Prayer, exertion, mutual work with the friends.
S. All of this we should bring to where?
R. To the purpose of creation I will be as close as possible to the Creator.
S. Prayer and labor working with the friends, a prayer working with friends can happen when you're in the litter?
R. Why not?
S. I don't know it's the litter, in the litter there's mostly trash?
R. From this trash you begin to see your true state and what can be against it, opposite to it. They don't let a person see only one side.
7. S. (47:05) Rabash writes when a person is in a state where he begins to slander Providence immediately, he loses the power of prayer because the body cannot believe that the Creator hears the prayer of every mouth. First of all, what does it mean to slander Providence?
R. He's in a state that is less than good, and he can't believe that that too came on to the Providence of the Creator and it's on the way to wholeness and he has to go through it and being incorporated with this desire and make the correct summary from conclusion and continue, although this is bestowal.
S. This means that even in the lowly state he should accept that the Creator is watching over him?
R. Yes.
S. And if a person loses the power of prayer, what remains for him in order for him to emerge from the state?
R. He has nothing left but the Ten. Except for the Ten, he must connect to them, he must rely on them, trust that come what may, he trusts them.
S. Also he writes here that raising the hands means that he looks at what he already has in his hands from spirituality and where he advanced from it or not, then it is forbidden to look, or he will fall to despair. How can we become liberated from this calculation from checking, did I advance in spirituality or not?
R. I think that the most correct is for a person to nevertheless, try to connect in spirituality and when he's using all of you, all of his, all of the means at his disposal and he calls out for help that that's what saves him with this state he comes to right now, no calculation, no exertion, understanding none of those can help him. He must go above it.
S. What does it mean above it?
R. Above it means that the Klipa, the shell is seemingly pushing him inwards to drown and he cries that he needs the power of the Creator and that only he can save him.
8. S. (50:50) He writes throughout the whole article there are many points where he talks about these small actions, small actions were even to remember the Creator you should be happy about that. Now well first of all, what is the reason that in spirituality on the way to the Creator the really little things we should be happy, whereas in externality we're not exactly excited about these little things we don't appreciate them.
R. I don't understand.
S. What is the reason that in the work opposite the Creator, there's great appreciation for the little things whereas in externality we don't appreciate little things?
R. Because with the Creator we can be connected through those little things, what is the question there?
S. If these little things if I now form a small action, he gave an example there that I just remember the Creator, I never really remember him and I should be happy.
R. Yes.
S. The desire that I have in the states is to do a lot more. Why am I not doing more? Here is telling you that even if you just remembered that if you feel whole then you should be happy. So, a question is how do you not fall into some place where it's not a state where maybe you will?
R. No, if it's your desire and you can now correct it then correct it because later, you're going to build additional greater states, corrected states on top of it.
S. How is that state built? Let's say now I remember the Creator.
R. I have several options before me. I don't need to choose the greatest one, the biggest. Rather I have to choose what is closest to me, where I can bestow the most and I build my first degree above that.
S. If we take it to the Ten for example that we decided to do a certain move together we should be happy even about this small advancement, even small fit things that we should say we should be happy about it?
R. Yes, I don't know about the smallest but the smallest in bestowal.
S. Yes, the smallest that takes place in bestowal. The question is how do we create the work between these two things? That we pray in the Ten, we pray now that we will say it the whole Ten at the table in the morning lesson. This is our prayer we focus on that all the time. So, on the one hand we should continue until we see the results until we reach our goal and along with that from what I understand is that we should be happy even when small things happen in this process, we should feel in wholeness so how do we work with these two states? On the one hand, we haven't yet reached what we want, on the other hand, we should really be happy about all the little things?
R. These little things, their nature is to accumulate and when they accumulate, they give off a good outcome, a certain outcome for it to be correct that it's better to go after many small things and reach a certain height compared to trying to make one big leap.
S. Can we say, if I understand you correctly, that to reach something big you have to appreciate the small things, without appreciating them you won't appreciate the greatness and the big thing?
R. No, you can't reach big things in one leap.
9. S. (55:38) He says when a person has to believe that even if he appreciates even appreciates the importance of Kedusha of sanctity with all this might he still does not come to the measure of the importance whether his real importance because a person cannot evaluate the importance of holiness, Kedusha. Only those who have ascended know how to appreciate spiritual matters. Who are these people of ascent?
R. Those who are able to bring themselves closer to a state which is called an ascent.
S. Even if I think that I have importance in sanctity or that I hear in order to bestow?
R. Well the fact that you will think so doesn't mean anything, where do you have a certificate?
S. It doesn't mean that I'm ascending if I'm in sanctity?
R. No, it's just that you think you have importance. How do you know if it's true or not?
S. How do you know?
R. Well that is a question.
S. How do you know?
R. We know by agreeing with the conditions which are considered an ascent to the first degree.
S. What does it mean that they know how to appreciate the spiritual matter?
R. That this spiritual matter meaning in order to bestow will be much more important for them than in order to receive.
S. I will think about it.
10. S. (57:40) How can a person tell that he's being prideful? That he speaks a few times about pride and that a person cannot dwell among other prideful people?
R. But the Creator doesn't dwell among proud people?
S. How can a person identify in the text that he's being prideful?
R. It's according to how he accepts correctly the Creator when the Creator turns to him. The Creator turns to him, and he demands that the Creator will turn to him in a different way, will give him different conditions. These are signs that he's still not worthy of an ascent of the Creator acting on him but rather he needs to let go of this thing and reach a state where again and again he asks the Creator from all sides as much as possible, meaning with every sort of desire, he awakens the Creator to help him and then by increasing in prayer he starts to feel how much he has to be in prayer and how much the prayer does not leave him.
11. S. (59:56) How can a person feel that his Creator is near him?
R. It's a feeling, it's very difficult to convey this from one person to another. A person feels that the Creator is near out of the fact that he feels how much he has the feeling of the Creator, not thinking of himself but about the Creator, not feeling himself but the Creator and thinking of what good thing can he do for the Creator. This for him becomes what is important.
S. But if I don't feel the Creator near, is it because my desire is not His desire and there's no equivalence of form?
R. Right.
S. If He's not helping me get what I want and He's not close to me?
R. No, He's not close to you.
S. So what to do?
R. It is written about it: make His will your will so he will make His will as your will. So that there will be some equivalents, but if there isn't, if there's no connection between one and the other, and a connection means that they connect somewhere in some desire, then you can just wait and expect that the Creator will bestow to you. You have to expect, you have to search in what qualities, desires and thoughts, actions, views you can be like Him, like Him.
S. Can we say that pride doesn't give us an opportunity to see the surrounding light in the vessel?
R. Yes, that's right. Bow down your head and search for where else can I become incorporated in the Creator in a way that I restrict myself and subjugate myself completely.
12. S. (01:03:05) What kind of demand does a person need to make when he feels himself to be poor or destitute?
R. He asks the Creator for forces, that the Creator will bring him closer, he by himself has no forces and no chance to get closer to the Creator.
13. S. (01:03:54) You said to agree to the conditions for ascending to the first stage, what are these conditions?
R. The people who have ascended on each degree, it sums up to the fact that the person is willing to do everything only in order to adhere to the Creator.
S. It is written about gratitude we get to be grateful for the thought?
R. Well of course, it has to include an appeal to the Creator in gratitude for the fact that he paid attention to the person, that he gives him these conditions that he's willing to raise him because all of the actions that exist that happen, come from the Creator.
S. A neutral state when a person cannot feel gratitude can he still raise gratitude from that state?
R. I can't understand.
S. When a person is in a neutral state, and he can't feel gratitude can he lift himself to be grateful?
R. Of course he can with the friends if he's with the friends. If he can receive from them the appreciation of their state and their importance of the goal, the importance of the situation, so that everything depends on the measure to which he is connected with the friends, if he is among them, he can always be nourished from their attainments and in that way to rise.
S. How to pass this gratitude to the friends to give them the strength to be grateful?
R. Through an example, an example and the willingness to help them in anything they ask for.
14. S. (01:07:14) It says a person cannot appreciate the importance of holiness and only those who ascend can appreciate something spiritual. Who are those people that ascend?
R. Those who have ascended means those who are already ascending on the degrees. I don't want to say which degrees and what particular state but rather they already have experience in that they are ascending.
15. S. (01:07:56) What is the difference between a layperson and the destitute in the spiritual work?
R. The difference between the layperson and the poor? The poor is preferable to the layperson because he feels that he doesn't have anything, no forces, no discernments with which he can now perform an ascent whereas the lay person doesn't have that.
16. S. (01:08:32) Are we in the state of a layperson after the connection with the friends?
R. It comes and it goes, and it can happen on every degree the state of a layperson.
17. S. (01:08:58) It says he needs to be ready when he sees his past to be full of deficiencies to be full of flaws to have the ability to pray for the flaws otherwise, he's forbidden to begin the work on the left what is this action of praying for flaws or deficiencies?
R. Again.
S. What is the action of praying for deficiency? It says he must be ready when he sees his past that he's full of flaws to have the ability to pray for the flaws otherwise it is forbidden to begin the work on the left.
R. If he's incorporated with his deficiencies, and he finds forces within himself, and desires to rise up then he searches by what he will be able to perform the ascent, and this is how he puts it together.
S. What does it mean to pray for my flaws or my deficiency?
R. I want as a deficiency that I feel, the deficiency is the possession, it pushes us to advance, right? I discover this possession, this deficiency, and I start to rise with it.
S. What does it mean to pray for it, what is this action? What do I have to do?
R. To correct the deficiency, because by it I can already be on a higher degree.
18. S. (01:10:22) It says about the reward of the Torah is near. What does it mean it's squeezing?
R. It means that a person feels he has something he can do, but he doesn't manage to work on all of these awakenings that he receives from the Creator.
19. S. (01:11:15) Is there any prayer on the right line, a demand from the Creator?
R. On the right line, there is only an inclination towards the Creator to fill him up, to connect with him and that's it.
S. This tendency is a prayer, it's a yearning, no?
R. Yes.
S. Not only a state of gratitude and praise but also the tendency towards gratitude or praise or walking on the right line is also?
R. Yes.
20. S. (01:12:06) On the right it looks like the entire article speaks about walk on the right line. It says, a person has to go on the right then the holy angel comes to him and says, look you're missing Torah and faith and you’re not good and he brings him all the way down. And a person has nothing to do but to resist, to fight with those who resist wholeness and believe above reason that the Sitra Achra, the other side, speaks to him dressed as the holy angel.
R. So?
S. What is this holy angel that is playing with him seemingly?
R. Seemingly he wants to give him respect and awaken him in sanctity but actually he breaks him.
S. But he tells him and speaks to him like on the left and also later he writes, the thoughts that he is impure and how can I speak Torah and prayer when I'm full of dirt and you're not ashamed to engage in Torah and holiness. The Sitra Achra dressed up comes to tell us incorrect things but then he sees that they truly are this way he sees himself this way so what?
R. But in between he resists it, does he go along with it or does he also resist it, and by that, he also gets better.
S. In the right itself, he writes a person has to believe above reason and the Sitra Achra speaks to him as the holy angel and he's playing these games but he has to be happy and with your lot even though you have a small grip sanctity and when he tells you and shows you that you are waste and you are in the litter and lowly this is the Sitra Achra confusing me. I want to hold on to the right, this is the entire work. It turns out that it's in the right, inside the right a person has to overcome above reason.
R. So, what's your question?
S. Why do you need the left for?
R. Why do you need the left?
S. Yes, when the right itself, a person is trying to hold on to the right he's constantly getting disturbances.
R. Yes.
S. The grip on the right has to be most hours of the day when a person has to be in praise and gratitude and appreciate the importance of spirituality, the smallest one even. This work in and of itself is made up of all those flaws and deficiencies?
R. Of course it's upon his inner states.
S. The whole work is on the right. What's the work on the left? What is the lowliness of the left because on the right it also shows him his lowliness?
R. I think that we should read the whole article again.
Reading Article Again: (01:15:38) What Is “Do Not Slight the Blessing of a Layperson” in the Work?
21. R. (01:46:50) How can it be that if he almost doesn't attain anything, how can he depict to himself that he supposedly has everything? How can that be? That's like from one end to the other.
22. S. (01:47:23) I wanted to ask exactly about that when it describes walking on two lines. These are two opposite extreme states but what connects them? Is it that he can connect it to the Creator and raise a prayer? When he's on the left line he asks for correction. On the other hand, he can praise and thank. The question is the ability to even feel gratitude and praise, is this the answer or the prayer of correction?
R. What about my question?
S. Yes, but that's the question, that the Creator does it, can't be anything else?
R. Okay.
S. But if it's two lines as he writes, the third line comes and decides. What in that state is regarded as the middle line, the third writing between those two states, agreement?
R Yes.
23. S. (01:48:30) Maybe we can add to your question. For many years we've been learning, and a person constantly wants to get some testimony to where he is, to check what he has achieved, what he has got, where he is on the path, where he has reached, did he make a mistake? Did he not, how much is he advancing? Here in this article, it says he's always a failure, he is forbidden to check, forbidden to criticize in any way, and nothing but to pray for this deficiency otherwise, he always falls?
R. To rise above.
S. I often ask myself too, a tendency to ask, where am I? Is this the truth? Is this the way, how do I check myself, how do I advance, how do I continue?
R. Now you have something in your hands, how to go ahead.
S. This is the failure if I want to check my ego this way, it says, look at you, where are you? You're behind everyone, everyone attains something and where are you? It's like the answer to all the attempts to check is that the ego always drops a person. There is no testimony.
R. The ego helps us.
S. By dropping us?
R. Of course, if not for the ego we would never reach the Creator, it's a faithful force.
S. It turns out, so the question is what's the right way to go into the left line because you fall in there all the time anyhow?
R. Well.
24. S. (01:50:40) It seems like the whole article engages in work in the right which is the main thing. The person has to by seeing his lowliness and thoughts come to him, they tell him you're trash, you're dirty, you're impure. He has to come to understand that the Creator is with him in the impurities. You may correct me, but you're in disguise, you're the Sitra Achra, I don't listen to you. I am clinging to the little bit of holiness that I have that he is giving me my lot to serve in some way. In other words, if I want to remain in the right, most of the day to praise the Creator I constantly get disturbances. What is this, what is on this? I'm sending bad thoughts. They show me the past who I really am, and I have to climb on it but it's still in the right. I'm working on the right. I didn't move to the left; I want to stay on the right. So, I'm asking what is the left that a person shifts to voluntarily? He sees his lowliness but on the right, he says I don't care about it and on the left he says, oh boy you're right?
R. I hear you.
25. S. (01:52:11) Can it be that on the left it is when I myself go to the past and check my deficiencies and then it's the left as opposed to the right or I'm only clinging to the right, and I use everything that the Sitra Achra gives me only to rise above reason even more?
R. I hear you.
26. S. (01:52:43) He says here there's a part where he says, he answers what they're asking, however afterward a person has to go to the left to the other side called the left line. You need great care and must be ready when he sees his path and it’s full of deficiencies and that he will be able to make an honest prayer for the deficiencies otherwise it’s forbidden to go unto work to the left. So, he gives a condition when it’s permitted to enter the left. On that condition I want to ask, what is the condition? Is it that if a person is criticizing his pride and is against this point where the pride is what fills him and everything. Here he's permitted to criticize and if so when and how much?
R. Okay, that's a question.
27. S. (01:53:55) Can we go back to the question you asked?
R. I didn't ask anything, it was a general question.
28. S. (01:54:17) Can it be that the first stage of having the smallest grip and remaining in wholeness, maybe it works in a different way with the deficiencies? Until he kind of exhausts the process of wholeness he understands he needs to do new work now with these deficiencies? That's part of what they asked.
R. That's a question.
29. S. (01:54:53) It's interesting what’s happening here. People who study Kabbalah, people who are drawn to the truth, and the truth goes towards revealing the evil, revealing the lowliness and it's a grave danger as we see here, because it might leave a person empty-handed both ways so there's a paradox here. We read text that requires a great deal of self-criticism, so it turns out that as a person, we are not ready on the right line to continue this inner scrutiny. We don't have the right tools to deal with the inner scrutiny that we need to do in order to add the left to the right. It's the advantage of light from within darkness.
R. But there's a danger like Rabash writes, that I won't be left empty-handed with anything, and it could be that there's people who lose the forces because they can’t succeed on any side.
S. I'm saying it's interesting that we're reading texts by Kabbalists that they themselves awaken the left in a very strong way. The question is what right line should we have in order to be able to cope with such a deep charge that awakens in us?
R. Yes, he's clear that without incorporating in a Ten you will not be able to deal with the left that awakens in you.
30. S. (01:56:43) Rabash describes very practical work of how a Kabbalist calculates he's going from right to left. I feel in myself that we try to be in the right but many times I'm just thrown. I don't calculate if I can go to the left, I just pay attention that suddenly I'm criticizing on a deficiency in thoughts. I'm asking what's the right way to approach the article if during the preparation period, we're working that way or we're just getting a certain impression that we need?
R. You are not so much in the preparation period you are already entering actual spirituality. You just need to learn these principles and how we work with them, on ourselves. It is no longer the preparation, therefore, don't slight yourselves.
31. S. (01:58:12) You kind of answered it that the article writes between man and the Creator. The Creator awakens him, and he thinks what to do and so on but what he doesn't write is the main thing that it's the Ten. Man, the Ten, and the Creator without holding on to the Ten there is no right, no left. You can't criticize, you can't do anything. I think that's the answer to your question. We have to stop calculating with ourselves and always calculate towards the Ten, yourself in the Ten that's the solution for everything. What can you add to that is the left?
R. If we want to adhere to the Creator, we first have to prepare adhesion among ourselves. Otherwise, nothing will happen. What is written here is all written about the influence from above downwards so to speak, and from below upwards it can be only to the extent of the intensity of the connection between us.
32. S. (01:59:37) Exactly what I wanted to ask about the Ten that all our work, the first question about working in the Ten. Is everything Rabash is explaining in the article, can we concentrate on it as if he's talking about a Ten?
R. Yes.
S. I understand what he says is that if you don't have the point of adhesion, even a minimal, even some kind of contact with the Creator you have no forces. First, you have to equip yourself with that force then you can open something, work with something, raise a prayer, but if in the Ten for instance a friend brings an idea he wants to go deeper into connection and he wants to scrutinize deeper and there's a lot of doubts and it's difficult and all kinds of things that are supposedly awakening against it. What's the right way to work? First, you have to equip yourself with the force, right? You can't scrutinize if you don't have enough of a force?
R. If a friend in the Ten comes just like that and enters and comes to the Ten and wants to discuss an article?
S. Let's say after the Congress, we were saying that we have a feeling we're heading towards a new degree, and we want to go into a deeper scrutiny that we didn't want to touch and he is offering to have a longer approach with the workshop and scrutinizing and what's the right way to do it? To equip ourselves with a force, to raise importance, to have forces to get into that is that right or just to go in and annul and go?
R. We'll see along the way what we need. This needs to be clarified through walking forward and in connection.
S. Meaning first of all connection?
R. Yes, that's for sure.
33. S. (02:20:00) He writes that the place he had to receive from the left a place of prayer, if he's not sure he's going to be able to pray, he has to stay in the right until he will be confident that he can take the forces to pray. The question again the same direction the friends were asking, how can we or what is this discernment that he's confident that he can approach it and raise a prayer? How can, I'll ask even more, how can he be looking at the left like scrutinizing without getting into it? That on the side he sees that he won't fall into the left but I'll only go there to pray how can you?
R. How can you evaluate the situation before you get into it?
S. Yes, exactly.
R. This we need to demand from our experience. It's like a cat before he jumps, it makes these movements checking itself. Can it jump and then it jumps. Yes, so what's the question, how do we check ourselves?
S. Yes, what's that gentle way to check without going into the actual state?
R. It's according to the friends, by connecting to the friends you depict to yourself the forces, operations, and states you will have when you execute it.
S. I will think about it, thank you.
R. You can do it in a very clear way. It's not like now I'll do it, maybe I'll succeed, no if you connect to the friends, if you discuss with them, if you plan this march forward then there are no mistakes. No mistakes.
34. S. (02:04:35) Maybe another direction to scrutinize to the left. If I can look to the left, I can look at many things that I'm not okay with the things that are supposedly I need to correct but maybe in a first stage if you look at society it's what should I correct towards the friends not just on my own. What I'm lacking towards spirituality but what's the smallest thing can I correct towards the friends that feel that is lacking? Maybe I'm lacking in me towards the connection?
R. Yes okay.
35. S. (02:05:30) It's written to give gratitude for his memory, that even if we had some kind of connection or greatness of the Creator to praise Him for that, is that our work to do such an action between us?
R. We must.
S. We are not searching for taste in the work now a new flavor but it's enough to remember something in order to awaken?
R. It still brings a new flavor.
36. S. (02:06:15) What to do if the Creator sends a state from the left without awakening it, let's say if he goes into this like bitterness?
R. A person who is on the path scrutinizes the left as the right.
S. Even though he didn't awaken it, even though he's in sadness and all kinds?
R. It awakens him.
S. Because he says that he will run away from the campaign if he falls into it, he mentioned it in the article.
R. A person who is on the campaign toward connection and increasing connection with the Creator he blesses or thanks the left as he thanks and blesses the right.
S. The left always comes from above or is it a state that man awakens the left?
R. It may be that we are awakening the left, but that is serious already.
S. Everything that comes from above is that to work in order to work on the right or is it supposedly to work on the left?
R. Everything that awakens from above it actually demands of us more connection and then to scrutinize what it is.
S. Maybe I don't understand correctly but if something comes from above, we need to work towards it in the right?
R. Yes.
S. What's the need in going to the left, what is that addition in the left gives us if all the interaction takes place on the right?
R. Without the vessels of the left we cannot approach the correct connection on the right, we can't, over what, how?
S. The awakening from above if they write work in the right so vessels awaken that we have to add to the right, can we say that?
R. Not yet. Not yet.
37. S. (02:08:58) It's more clear in the article that he warns us from the left won't let us pray, that's what I heard, right? He says such a thing.
R. Yes.
S. Does he mention something about the right that isn't okay or is the right always okay? Could it be that the right is also a mistake?
R. What does it mean, a mistake?
S. There's left which is good because it leads me to prayer.
R. Not that it's good in itself but the result of it.
S. Yes, the result. He says be the right as much as you can. Is there a right that doesn't bring a good result? The right?
R. No.
S. I will tell you why I am saying it. He says you can't be with pride, and you have to be in lowliness?
R. Yes, but also in the right that is out of balance, not balanced. It has to be balanced with the left, you have to bring to the right deficiencies by which you work with the right and elevate yourself to the next level.
S. Let's say the right is like a baby in his mother's hand, so he doesn't have to be in gratitude. He feels that he deserves it.
R. Yes, well we're not talking about that state.
S. What's the right that brings gratitude that we have to feel that it's like the smallest contact with the upper force is something that has to bring us the biggest gratitude that from it we can start rising? Because don't we deserve like somebody owes us we have to awaken this point?
R. Yes.
38. S. (02:11:21) In our work when we make efforts and overcome upon all kinds of disturbances, do we get a bit of light from this work, and with this bit of light we feel the Creator's attitude, his relation we feel the giver, is it right to understand that afterward, a broader portion of the light opens up?
R. Yes.
39. S. (02:12:08) In the article it was written that man has to come to the left in order to start praying the question is, can we assume that a person feels that the Creator blesses him, and he gives gratitude for anything that's happening to him, and he thinks that he's on the right and for this reason he isn't successful in praying?
R. He's got nothing to pray with, he's just satisfied with everything there is.
S. That's exactly the question, if he needs to pray that he understands that everything comes from Him, and he knows everything so why should he pray if he knows everything?
R. This can be, it's called Domem de Kedusha, the sacred still.
40. S. (02:13:34) A friend in the Ten is adding a discernment that I think is very important, he says that when we read an article by the Rabash or a different Kabbalist so the fact that we're not thrown out right away is because we're incorporated in the Rabash screen, in this case. That is what gives us an ability to even withstand this action and walk the path with Him. I feel that it's important to hold the greatness of the Rav before you touch what he writes because I can find myself reading something before, I have the greatest of the sage writing and it can give me great damage if I read something deep I'll go to a wrong place and it'll take me to a negative place. There's the discernment of what the greatness of the sages is and how important it is to hold it before reading his article.
R. Yes, you're right, it's a must to approach it this way. I have nothing to say about it.
41. S. (02:14:49) It feels like the article is on the importance of the goal and the Tzimtzum, the restriction. That's why we have to put it between the left and the right.
R. Yes.
S. If we come from the left towards the purpose of creation, what our actions are in that system in order to receive all this pleasure we need to do it for giving him pleasure. That's the choice in the Ten for the greatness of the Creator, and only after that we can go into the left with the intention to give greater pleasure above.
R. Then from left to right again.
S. Yes, it says if there are the thoughts of the Ten on the greatness of the Creator and when the friend will succeed, in the sake of the Ten, so they hold on to him.
R. Yes.
S. Then they can pull him to the right.
R. Yes.
