Lesson Topic: Memorial Day & Independence Day Selected Excerpts

Original lesson date: 05/07/2019

Reader: Hello, in the first part of the lesson, we're going to be studying a lesson from Rav on the topic of Memorial Day, which is today. It's from 2019, based on some select excerpts on the topic. We're going to devote the whole lesson for this. In preparation for the lesson, we'll read these excerpts in the Tens. We have 20 minutes, and we will read as much as we manage.

Reading: (00:37) 1. David Ben-Gurion. “In the Struggle,” a speech before members of the Young Guard of Mapai

The fate of the Jewish people differs from that of every other nation, not only since the Jewish people went into exile, but also while it dwelt in its land. It was a small people with a great spirit, a genius people that believed in its pioneering mission in the world, in humanity—a vocation nurtured by the prophets of Israel. This people brought to the world great and eternal truths and moral demands. This people prophesied about the oneness of the Creator and creation, the glory of man created in the image of God, about social justice, international peace, and "Love your neighbor as yourself." This people was the first to envision the vision of the End of Days—the vision of a new human society.

2. Maimonides, Yad HaChazaka (The Mighty Hand), Idolatry Rules, Chapter 1:11-16

At forty years of age, Abraham came to know his Maker. …He began to call out to the whole world, to alert them that there is one God to the whole world and that He is the One to be served. He would call out, wandering from town to town and from kingdom to kingdom, until he arrived in the land of Canaan, calling out, as it is written, “and called there on the name of the Lord, the Everlasting God” (Genesis 21:33). And since they gathered around him and asked him about his words, he taught everyone according to his mind, until he brought him back to the path of truth. Finally, tens of thousands assembled around him, and they are the people of the house of Abraham. He planted this tenet in their hearts and composed books in it, and taught his son, Isaac. And Isaac sat and taught and warned, and informed Jacob and appointed him a teacher, to sit and teach and keep all those who accompanied him. And Jacob the Patriarch taught all his sons, and separated Levi and appointed him as the head, and had him sit and learn the way of God and to keep Abraham's commandments. And he commanded his sons not to stop appointing appointee after appointee from among the sons of Levi, so the knowledge would not be forgotten. This continued and expanded in the children of Jacob and in those accompanying them, and a nation that knows the Creator was made in the world.

3. Machshavot Harutz, 19

The love of Israel is rooted in every soul of israel, a heritage from Abraham, who is the root of Judaism, as our sages said, “Love your friend is the great rule of the Torah.”

4. Likutei Halachot, Hilchot Arev

The essence of the root of Arvut is extended from the reception of the Torah, when all of Israel were responsible for one another. And this is because at the root the souls of Israel all are considered as one, because they are extended from the source of unity.

5. Baal Hasulam. Letter 60

There was a precondition from the beginning of the reception of the Torah, but afterward, since the time of the making of the calf, the package has been taken apart, since wars occurred and the children of Levi killed three thousand men by the word of the Creator, and then the grievances against Moses and Aaron, and the spies. Naturally, all those did not add love or unity.Afterward, after the coming to the land [of Israel], it was still not quiet. Hence, it was irrelevant to ask anyone to uphold this prime commandment. However, in order for the Torah not to be forgotten from Israel, they began to engage in the rest of the commandments although they had abandoned its main point, since they had no other choice. Perhaps this is what our sages meant when they asked about the ruin of the Second Temple, that there was no idolatry there and they were proficient in Torah, so why was it ruined? They said it was for unfounded hatred. Perhaps this means that it was because they could not engage in the heart of the construction of the Torah, which is “love your neighbor as yourself’.

6. Baal Hasulam. Shamati 199. To Every Man of Israel

Every man of Israel has an internal point in the heart, which is considered simple faith. This is an inheritance from our fathers, who stood on Mount Sinai. However, it is covered by many Klipot[shells], which are all kinds of dresses of Lo Lishma [not for Her sake], and the Klipot must be removed. Then his basis will be called “faith alone,” without any support and outside help.

7. Rabash -1 Article No 18. “And It Shall Come to Pass When You Come to the Land that the Lord Your God Gives You .1984

This is called Israel, meaning Yashar-El [straight to the Creator], meaning everything he thinks of is only that everything will get to the Creator, and he is not taken into account because he is not thinking of himself at all. Rather all his thoughts are only for the Creator. This is called the “land of Israel,” meaning that he has a desire directly to the Creator. That is, he has no desires of self-love, but of love of others, and for himself—that he will enjoy life—he has no desire at all. All he wants is to have the means to bestow upon the Creator, and all the nourishments he gives to his body are only to have the strength to work in order to bestow.

8. Baal HaSulam. “The Nation”

It is a must for every nation to be strongly united within, so all the individuals within it are attached to one another by instinctive love. Moreover, each individual should feel that the happiness of the nation is one’s own happiness, and the nation’s decadence is one’s own decadence. One should be willing to give one’s all for the nation whenever needed. Otherwise, their right to exist as a nation in the world is doomed from the start.

9. Baal HaSulam. “The Nation”

The national love is the basis of every nation, just as egoism is the basis of all individually existing beings. Without it, it would not be able to exist in the world. Similarly, the national love in the individuals of a nation is the basis of the independence of every nation. This is the only reason for which it continues or ceases to exist. For this reason, this should be the first concern in the revival of the nation. This love is not presently within us, for we have lost it during our wandering among the nations for the past two millennia.

10.Baal HaSulam.“The Nation”

It is a shame to admit that one of the most precious merits we have lost during the exile, and the most important of them, is the loss of the awareness of the nationality, meaning that natural feeling that connects and sustains each and every nation. The threads of love that connect the nation, which are so natural and primitive in all the nations, have become degenerated and detached from our hearts, and they are gone. And worst of all, even the little we have left of the national love is not instilled in us positively, as it is in all the nations. Rather, it exists within us on a negative basis: It is the common suffering that each of us suffers being a member of the nation. This has imprinted within us a national awareness and proximity, as with fellow-sufferers. This is an external cause. As long as this external cause joined and blended with our natural national awareness, an odd kind of national love emerged and sparked off this jumble, unnatural and incomprehensible and most important it is completely unfit for its task. Its measure of warmth suffices only to an ephemeral excitement, but without the power and strength with which we can be rebuilt as a nation that carries itself. This is because a union that exists due to an outside cause is not at all a national union. In that sense, we are like a pile of nuts, united into a single body from the outside by a sack that envelops and unites them. Their measure of unity does not make them a united body, and each movement applied to the sack produces in them tumult and separation. Thus, they consistently arrive at new unions and partial aggregations. The fault is that they lack the inner unity, and their whole force of unity comes through outside incidents. To us, this is very painful to the heart. Indeed, the spark of nationalism was kept within us to its fullest measure, but it has dimmed and has become inactive. It has also been greatly harmed by the mixture it had received from the outside, as we have said. However, this does not yet enrich us, and reality is very bitter.

11. Baal HaSulam. “The Nation”

In the end, all we have here is a gathering of strangers, descendants of cultures of seventy nations, each building a stage for oneself, one’s spirit, and one’s leanings. There is no elemental thing here that unites us all from within into a single mass.

12. Raaiah Kook, Olat Raaiah, Part One

Unity that comes through seeking to benefit each individual for the purpose of each individual loving himself is coincidental unity, whose origin is one’s love for oneself. It is unsustainable as it has no real center. Even when the unity appears to grow, it will end in a flame of hatred and civil war since each one will pull toward his own benefit. Conversely, unity that comes by recognizing the value of the higher purpose, which comes only by peace among people, its basis is love of everyone and it will last. And the more it continues, the more it will grow and strengthen.

13. David Ben Gurion, “The Revolution of the Spirit,” A Vision and a Way, vol. 1

“Love your neighbor as yourself” (Leviticus, 19:18) is the supreme commandment in Judaism. With these words, the eternal, human law of Judaism had been formed, and all the literature on ethics could not say more. The state of Israel will merit its name only if its social, economic, political, and judicial structure is based upon these three eternal words.

14. A.D. Gordon, The Light of Life in the “Day of Smallness” - edited

All of Israel are responsible for one another. Only where people are responsible for one another there is Israel, there is man, and there is a nation.

15. Baal HaSulam. A speech for the Completion of The Zohar

The fact of the matter is that the Creator delivered our holy land from the foreigners and has given it back to us, yet we have not received the land into our own authority, since the time of reception has not yet come, as we explained concerning the complete attainment. Thus, He has given but we have not received, since we have no economic independence, and there is no political independence without economic independence. Moreover, there is no redemption of the body without redemption of the soul. As long as the majority of the people are captive in the foreign cultures of the nations and are incapable of Israel’s religion and culture, the bodies, too, will be captive under the alien forces. In this respect, the land is still in the hands of foreigners. The proof is that no one is excited about the redemption, as it should have been with redemption after two millennia. Not only are those in the Diaspora not inclined to come to us and delight in the redemption, but a large portion of those that have been redeemed and are already dwelling among us are anxiously waiting to get rid of this redemption and return to the countries from which they came. Thus, even though the Creator has delivered the land from the hands of the nations and has given it to us, we have not received it and we are not enjoying it. But with this giving, the Creator has given us an opportunity for redemption, to be purified and sanctified and assume the work of the Creator in Torah and Mitzvot Lishma. At that time, the Temple will be built and we will receive the land into our own authority. Then we will experience and feel the joy of redemption. But as long as we have not come to this, nothing will change. There is no difference between the current manners of the land and the way it was while still under the hands of foreigners, in law, in economy, and in the work of the Creator. Thus, all we have is an opportunity for redemption.

16. Baal HaSulam. Exile and Redemption

I hereby propose to the House of Israel to say to our troubles, “Enough!” and at the very least make a human calculation regarding those adventures that they have inflicted on us time and time again, and here in our country, as well. We wish to start our own policy, as we have no hope of clutching at the ground as a nation as long as we do not accept our holy Torah without any allowances, to the last condition of the work Lishma, and not for one’s own sake, with any residue of selfishness.

17. Baal HaSulam. Exile and Redemption

As long as we do not raise our goal above the corporeal life, we will have no corporeal resurrection, for the spiritual and the corporeal in us cannot dwell together. We are the children of the idea, and even if we are immersed in forty-nine gates of materialism, we will still not give up the idea. Hence, it is the holy purpose of for His sake that we need.

Reader: Now we will study together from a lesson of Rav for today's Memorial Day from 2019, and we will devote the entire lesson to this topic.

Reader: We're in a lesson about Memorial Day and Independence Day. We will be reading excerpts about the topic. You can send us questions to KAB.TV. Selected questions will be heard in the course of the lesson. So, the topic of the lesson is “Memorial Day and Independence Day.”

M. Laitman: (21:19) Okay, today we have a very special topic, to remember all the troubles we went through in the past. Why do we actually need to even pay attention and remember them? Is Independence Day, or should it be adjacent to Independence Day, Memorial Day adjacent to Independence Day?

The matter is that in the spiritual work, that everything stems from there: the upper roots, all of the problems, all of the trouble, all of the burdening of the heart that we go through in order to determine upon them specifically the connection between us—the spiritual force, the good spiritual force. It can only be or take place upon the evil force if the evil is emphasized and then upon it the good, because the advantage of light can only come over the darkness and no other way. That's why those people who want to come closer to the truth, they must be prepared for the darkness to be revealed. There shall be night and darkness, and then will come the dawn—that is one day. One day, meaning that night and day and darkness, everything that belongs to that concept will be inseparable from the day, the light. That's why Memorial Day for us in our rituals comes right before Independence Day. That Independence Day is already the coming of the light. It's a great correction and the realization of the state—that before it, we need to discover as much as we're in the darkness, in the evil, in war, and we need to fight and succeed in that war and then reach Independence Day.

According to this process that we learn in spirituality, what we go through between us, and in this way on each and every detail; love will cover all crimes, because we are created beings, and we can't feel anything but one thing and it's the opposite. So, here too, and that's what happens in Independence Day with us, that Memorial Day comes right before, and we need to understand that everything we went through, we went through this in a purposeful way from above. And we have to relate to it in a way that all problems, all of our trouble obviously has a place and a justification, and we need to relate to it as something necessary.

But if we, by the connection between us, discover that necessity is positive, then we don't need to suffer this darkness and all problems and trouble as we learned about yesterday from the end of the “Introduction to the Book of Zohar,” and maybe we should learn about it today too if we have time for it. And if we're ready for it, then the opposite—we advance this darkness, and we're able to go through it as a necessary part of the general process of our development. There will be evening, and there will be day - one day. That the darkness and the light is included in the day and the light, that's how we advance. That's why our attitude towards Memorial Day, should be as Kabbalists that are in a development, and understand and justify everything that happens to them, because it happens only from None Else Besides Him, and The Good that Does Good in every state. That's why if we're not negligent in the work, we discover every good thing that will only really be good, and there won't be any symbol or form of evil. When we discover that the angel of death is the Holy Angel, and discover in our correct preparation in such a way that we go through the bad things in understanding and subjugation, in agreeing to them, because by this, we discover the darkness and the light, that Creator's good attitude towards us. There's a lot to talk about, we can spill many words about this, and we can scrutinize it through the excerpts we have, but the approach should be like this.

M. Laitman: (28:01) There is not a sad day, there aren't sad states, everything is connected and standing in a Gmar Tikkun. So the darkness and all the trouble and all the problems and the light that's revealed upon the darkness, upon all these states, they all have that same form of connection and love. And us too, we need to understand that if we will be as the elder who is bent down and as if searching for something he lost, meaning to search for those problems and troubles in advance, and they're not troubles and problems, but necessary vessels to reveal the Creator.

If we search for them in order to give Him contentment, then all of my state that I'm already experienced, that's why I'm called elder; and I go and on my own, I search for those shattered vessels, where are they, that I'll be able to join them in to my MAN towards the Creator and receive MAD upon them, and in this way advance. If I use it correctly, then I have no problem, I am happy, as Baal HaSulam writes, I'm joyful of the evils that are revealed, because those who aren't revealed yet, and obviously they're there, the whole shattering was prepared in my spiritual work, in my spiritual state that I have to resurrect.

So that's why I'm happy with everything that is revealed, and I have to feel sorry that it wasn't revealed yet, and be as ready in preparation to reveal them. We also have to work in this in our daily work, always. That every time I can reveal the evil. If I reveal it in the day, as we say, “in Your light, we will see light.” So, darkness will shine as light. There is no darkness. It all depends on my attitude.

If I reach revelation of the gaps between me and the friend, and I want to discover them in order to close those gaps, that these deficiencies, we can bring them to connection above them—not to erase them, but love will cover all crimes. Then I, myself, discover deficiencies with the hope to right away reveal love upon them, and I'm happy with the revelation of these deficiencies. I'm happy in the revelation of these deficiencies, more, no less, then I'm happy with the revelation of the connection above them, above each and every deficiency. That's why all of the work it all depends on the correct preparation in the group that we do for our correction. That's why if we do the correct work, we aren't lacking anything, but revealing the deficiency. Then we know what we're supposed to do, how to connect above it. That's why all of our work is in searching for these deficiencies, revealing them, that we will have only as many revelations as we can, that we'll be able to bring ourselves above them.

Reader: Please. So, reading from excerpts from Memorial and Independence Day, excerpt number one, from the speech of David Ben-Gurion, the first Israeli Prime Minister.

Reading: (32:29) 1.

M. Laitman: (33:32) Yet, that truly is everything you can say about this nation in general, about this group that was created from all those who came out of Babylon to all of humanity, who connected to Abraham and determined, according to their revelation, the whole path we have to go through. And first that group has to go through it, as we learned yesterday, too, in the end of the introduction to the Book of Zohar. And Ben Gurion, the first Prime Minister of Israel, understood that. He yearned for it. He wanted to build this country according to that. But others didn't understand him. That's why he saw that his struggle with them on the form of the country of Israel, the nation of Israel in the way that they will all be as one bundle, to show an example to all of humanity by that.

So the egoists didn't agree with him. Those who are sitting in the government, nobody will let him make it happen. And their problem is the struggle between them on sitting in the chairs and getting the jobs and controlling. That's why he retired from the government and he was in great sorrow. We saw it too in that film that we watched together about Ben Gurion and the way he speaks into the camera. But whatever happens 71 years after, well, maybe a longer time ago, about 25 years ago, a group was born that want to continue this task.

The whole Nation of Israel has to know what it was created for, that it has an obligation towards humanity, and humanity has an obligation towards the Upper Force. And in this way we need to understand that all of our work is in order to reveal the negation of connection between us that includes all kinds of unpleasant forms.

But, if we prepare ourselves, that we want to reveal the lack of connection between us as a preparation for the Creator, that “I have created the evil inclination,” then we already understand that this creation outside of Him is necessary. And that's why we are happy with the darkness, not less than the light that comes after it. Because the main part of the darkness, and when it's revealed, it's a sign that Baal HaSulam has said, “I'm happy with the evil ones that are revealed.” So, even if we are in the Memorial Day, and it's a sad day for those who passed, the veterans in the army, all the wars we went through in order to reach where we are today, we have to understand that our attitude towards it has to be different. Meaning, from the bitter experience we need to understand that we can.

M. Laitman: (37:38) That's the truth. We can bring ourselves to a state that our preparation to reveal the evil will bring such states that we won't see the evil. The evil will only be revealed in essence as a lack of connection. That's it. Without any evil that has to be revealed in this world, in the attitude between us, that haters and enemies rise upon us. It will all be revealed, as it's written: “Put your eyes on them and they will become a sack of bones.” And later on, for correcting those bones, as our Prophet writes, those bones will be resurrected and that entire will to receive in all its parts will come back to adhesion between us and the Creator.

Please, if there are questions, please you can ask, because we actually learn the foundations of everything that's happening in Memorial Day, in Independence Day. That's why it's worth asking about all of it together. One can't come without the other. This comes from above. It's two parts of one vessel. Revealing the will to receive and then revealing the correction and getting the fulfillment in the corrected vessel. Please.

Reading: (39:27) 2.

M. Laitman: (41:05) We can learn a lot from this excerpt. First of all, that Abraham reached the age of 40, meaning the degree of Bina. He understood the whole process that's happening in the vessels of bestowal. He knew how to teach it to others. The connection, in a gradual way, that people would finally gather around him, connect. It was a bit compared to the whole world, but it was enough in order to have a group in the world, a nation, a special group. It's the nation of the Creator that is not counted among the rest of the nations. It doesn't have the same place because it desires that all want to be connected together in order to reach adhesion with the Creator. And the rest of the desires, called the desires of the nations of the world, don't discover the tendency to connect between them and connect with the Creator. That's why they're called “the nations of the world.” This group, which yearns to reach the connection with the Creator, they are called “the nation of the Creator.”

There are 70 nations of the world, and one more nation called the nation of the Creator, which is called the Rosh for all the nations of the world. Why Rosh? Because they are in a role that connects between all these groups, all the nations of the world and the Creator. And here we need to understand that just as that group, that special group that was founded by connecting to Abraham, all these people who feel a deficiency inside, through the connection to reach connection with the Creator, through the connection between them to reach connection with the Creator, then they started those nations, these groups of people, to be built. And from then we can say that in the world, against this group of Abraham, we also have 70 other groups called the 70 nations of the world. So, Abraham took care of this group, to whoever came to this group. We have to understand that this group is also unique because it has representatives of all the other nations of the world, parts of all the nations of the world. But they have a tendency to be connected in order to be connected with the Creator. That's why this group is unique.

Even though, just as the rest supposedly, but actually not at all like everybody else. That the tendency to connect is what discerns or separates between them and all the others. And the essence of this group is by yearning to know the Creator, to know meaning from the sentence that “Adam knew Eve, his wife,” which means Dvekut, connection with the Creator. That the created beings, in such a form that they are connected between them, which is the essence of the nation of Israel, when they connect, they also yearn to connect with the Creator. That is what we need to reach until the degree of “you've loved your Creator.” Please.

Reader: Excerpt number three from “Machshavot Harutz,” item 19.

Reading: (46:14) 3. Machshavot Harutz, 19 - Twice

The love of Israel is rooted in every soul of israel, a heritage from Abraham, who is the root of Judaism, as our sages said, “Love your friend is the great rule of the Torah.”

M. Laitman: Yes, that's what's written. We need to understand. Read it again, please.

Reader: Again, excerpt number three.

M. Laitman: (46:38) Yes, meaning, actually, you can say that the root of love is in each and every man, in every desire that reaches the degree of Adam, that resembles the Creator. And each and every desire must reach adhesion with the other desires and the Creator. This is how we used to be in one vessel in the Adam HaRishon. We need ourselves and our efforts and our work to return to that one Kli, even though there's an ego that outbursts between us. That's why the intensity of the connection between us and Gmar Tikkun compared to the intensity of the connection that was before the soul of Adam HaRishon is 620 times more. That's what we have to reach, on one hand. On the other hand, we have to learn that there is no such thing called “the nation of Israel,” that it's something constant that came from our genes, from our corporeal mother and father, but it's a will to receive that gets an awakening through the point in the heart that awakens in it, and then it yearns for connection.

That's why we need from this to understand that rule, that each one can be Jewish, belong to the nation of Israel, because the future of the world is that everybody is in adhesion with the Creator. That's why each and every one who has such a desire as we have, that it was suddenly revealed and we felt that we belong to some special tendency, and our group is actually a special nation. This is how each and every one can come and join such a group and say that I also am Yashar El, meaning straight to the Creator, an Israeli. And the future of the whole world is to belong to that spiritual tendency towards a connection between all humans, all created beings and the Creator together, which is actually the end of correction of the whole world that includes all of the created beings as one body, one man and one heart. And they will all be as one bundle. Please.

Reader: Excerpt number four from Likutei Halachot, Choshen Mishpat, Hilchot Arev.

Reading: (49:21) 4. Likutei Halachot, Hilchot Arev

The essence of the root of Arvut is extended from the reception of the Torah, when all of Israel were responsible for one another. And this is because at the root the souls of Israel all are considered as one, because they are extended from the source of unity.

M. Laitman: (49:45) Because we are all, we all came from the Creator, from the force of unity, that's why we need to understand that the tendency towards this unity is actually what connects us, brings us closer. And our entire daily work, is that even though all kinds of problems are revealed between us: a distance, until hatred, and specifically in those who advance even more, between them chilling out can be revealed, or rejection or hatred, until you can't stand each other anymore. And we need to understand that all is revealed as a result of the shattering of Adam HaRishon, in order for us to determine love upon hatred, and not erase the hatred, but upon it to reach love.

Meaning, that we reveal the hatred through love, that we understand that we can, without revealing the hatred, sustain the love, that love and hatred are as darkness and light. They hold each other, and in this way we advance. That's why in our work, our daily work, as much as, well, at least the chilling out, the distance is revealed, lack of understanding, lack of patience—we need to understand that these tiny discernments, that upon them we need to reveal an opposite attitude, an understanding what was done, for that by this we come closer and unite to the Creator. That's why we search about.

I look at the separation that's revealed as an invitation to come even closer to Him, and from the love of the created beings to the love of the Creator. That's how we advance. That's why it all depends on the preparation between us. “Man will help his friend,” as much as we will be more in that preparation, in that support, to hold on to each other and not fall into the will to receive, which is revealed, and reveal the hatred, the separation, the distance between us, even though for an instant, for a small moment, it has to be; otherwise, we won't have anything to build the connection on. Because love will cover all crimes, love cannot come, if hatred did not come before it. That's why we just have to be ready for it, and this preparation for this love is Arvut. Please.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (53:25) As we heard, the group of Abraham was assembled from all representatives of all nations of the world, as we can see in the world Kli, as well. So, the question is, what is the reason that blows and antisemitism receives specifically the Jewish people by religion, and the people sitting here in the land of Israel?

M. Laitman: That same group that Abraham put together throughout history, also throughout the inner spiritual process they went through, that group, through the process it went through in this world too, started showing itself as a nation, obviously with a completely different history, with a process that it goes through is very different than the rest of the nations. We didn't study it yet, we didn't understand it, yet. We will reveal it, I hope. I also hope that we reveal it together.

Also, see how it's all written correctly to the depth of everything in our sources. And if not so we'll reveal it in the world. That it's not a nation, but this group reveals a special process in its development towards its historical destiny, what it went through. It's not history, it's not geography, but all these things that this group is going through, just as the whole world. It's actually those same spiritual states that we see only through our corruption, it seems to be a corporeal process in this world. There is no “this world.” It's our vessels that are revealed in such a way, as bodies, as universe, the earth and so on. But actually, there is no such a form. It's just seen in this way through our senses.

That's why we have to understand that still there is this group that doesn't fulfill, isn't fulfilling its spiritual destiny, its spiritual purpose. That's why in its awareness and its feeling in the lowest state in great lowliness in this world, called “this world.” In this way, we see ourselves. And the attitude towards the rest of the vessels that are revealed towards this group, it's revealed as hatred, because those other vessels feel instinctively that this group isn't bringing the desired correction that they want from inside. They feel it. They want it, subconsciously. They discover that they're all dependent on this group, that the nations of the world are dependent on Israel. They feel it and they say it and they're right, that all the trouble they feel comes from the nation of Israel. That's what they also think, that the people of Israel, meaning us in this world, that we're supposedly doing it on purpose, even though we have no idea what they're speaking about, but their complaint is right. But the fact that we are not aware of it, that's already our problem. But the complaint has a place.

That's why whoever researches this in depth, understands that it's like that. Lately, I've been hearing that Guy Bechor, the reporter, was speaking about it. It's a scientist from the university here in Israel. And I completely agree with what he's saying, that there is no complaint towards the nations, because they have no freedom of choice. They can't reach any action, any spiritual action, but only in their corporeal place they can awaken us and press on us to discover it. Because as we say, through antisemitism, through an antisemitic attitude, but we have to understand that nothing happens here without the Upper Force.

But through them in such a way, the Creator is awakening us to fulfill our destiny, to be light for the nations, meaning to bring them through us, through our Arvut, to be as a pipeline and bring them the light of redemption. That this force that we will reveal through them will raise them from the hatred between everybody and their hatred towards us specifically to love.

That's why it turns out that in the lack of the correction in every nation, also inside that it suffers and also between the nations, it is all in the hands of the nation of Israel. And they are actually responsible for every bad state in the world, responsible in order to bring it for a revelation of the evil, and bring them to good. More questions, please?

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:00:17) You said that the way we relate to Memorial Day should be as Kabbalists do, and we need to raise MAN and to receive MAD. Now, I understand that I suffer because I see that day, and those states, and those things out of my will to receive, but I don't understand what exactly is the prayer that I raise? What is the MAN? What do I ask the Creator for, when I see all those unpleasant things in Memorial Day?

M. Laitman: The MAN we have to raise, it's when a shattered vessel is revealed to you, and you understand that, first of all, it's revealed because there was a shattering in Adam HaRishon. The Creator prepared this vessel, but along with it, He prepared the Torah for us, the Mitzvot, the Commandments. Torah is the light that reforms. The Mitzvot is the correction of the vessels that to begin with, we are in order to receive. We have to turn them in order to bestow. That if they receive a correction in order to bestow, they can connect between them and discover the Creator in the connection between them. From the love of the created beings to the love of the Creator, that the Creator will shine through them—revelation of the Creator through the vessels.

That's what we have to do. Now, this was prepared for us, to begin with from the shattering, from the sin of the Tree of Knowledge. That's why all of our work, the way we discover ourselves, we discover ourselves through the shattering. But when we receive the method called the Wisdom of Kabbalah, and the way we need to resist the shattering, to behave correctly in the shattering, to discover it, maybe even in advance, and to connect above the shattering. Even to discover in advance as the elder we were speaking about, searching, where else does he have shattered vessels to reveal them and reach the complete correction.

So, the fact that we discover ourselves: that we can't reach the general correction, that we're not prepared for it, that we don't even want it, that's why sorrow is revealed to us. A great sorrow in all these, through all these signs, as we also discover in Memorial Day. And before this we had Holocaust Day, and so on. Meaning, these days show us as much as we weren't able to receive those evil revelations that the Creator prepared for us, upon them to reach correction, to reach connection.

That's why in Memorial Day especially, we need to say that all this happened, because we didn't do what we're supposed to. It's not that our heroism did this. I did not do all these actions. But to our sorrow, we weren't ready, yet. That's why from here on, we need to prepare ourselves to a state that we will discover these troubles, these shatterings, and correct them. It all depends on who discovers the shattering of Adam HaRishon that is constantly revealed.

Either we go and discover it or the Creator does. That if I awaken the dawn and not the dawn awakens me, then I reveal it in the good spirits, in the light of the Creator. That's why darkness will shine as light. that I will want to discover the darkness. But, if I don't want to discover the darkness, it's revealed against my will by evil forces through my haters. And then it turns out that I go through all kinds of states of wars, trouble, problems, Holocaust, and so on. It all depends on our preparation.

That's why it's upon us and only us that work on the awareness of the state, understanding the state to prepare the nation of Israel to a state that we all need to wake up and discover the evil states that have to be revealed as parts of the shattering of Adam HaRishon. We'll have to discover them and correct them. We have no choice, it's upon us. So, we need to go in these corrections ourselves; that I discover the darkness, the shattering, and I myself am interested in it, because upon the darkness I can discover the light of the Creator.

That’s why in our times that we are going through these general corrections, that it's already time for all earth dwellers, they came to this feeling.

It's coming closer, and the nations of the world are starting to discover more and more their attitude, their dependency on the nation of Israel even though it's revealed in a negative form, but they are discovering it, and we just don't want to understand that we are responsible for correcting us and the nations of the world in order to be connected and give the Creator a place to reveal Himself.

So, the problem is first of all, us. That's why we have to search for all the people in the nation of Israel, in human society, anywhere, they can understand this idea and belong to it. We have to discover them and connect. Even that same Professor Guy Bechor, people from the Academy, from research, that they understand as much as there is an essential and necessary state, not only a history, in a world issue, eternal.

Question (New York): (01:08:07) You mentioned that we need to build a mutual guarantee in order for Israel to rise above the hatred to the state of love. Can you elaborate on the role of mutual guarantee in the nation of Israel?

M. Laitman: Mutual guarantee is the same law of connection between the broken Kelim, which they need to keep. What did the Creator do? He created the Kli, an ideal Kli, a good Kli, the right Kli, which needed nothing, and then broke it in order to reveal the gap between the parts. And for these parts to start correcting themselves, because the evil that is revealed between them, only in a way that they feel it as a bad thing, which is in the degree of the still animate and vegetative, and except for the revelation of evil, which they feel bad, they also have a spark, a special feeling.

In its essence, they have to discover the essence of connection between them which is destined to be. If I connect to others through this shattering, above this shattering, then I come to the building of connection between us which is called Hibur, connection, or Arvut, and even love. And by these words, me and him, we begin to come closer and unite until we all become as one.

Although we're different, and there's a gap between us, and that gap does not disappear.

Rather, we establish connections, connections between us above these gaps, and then it turns out that the intensity of our connection is revealed according to the intensity of connection which was revealed during the shattering.

Therefore, we reveal the Creator not in the intensity it used to fill us in a Kli, which was not broken in the beginning of creation, rather by 620 times more, meaning in full intensity. And except for that, we are the ones revealing Him. The emphasis is on us, we. We do it with our understanding, attainment, feeling, in acquiring that degree that we are in His degree. And then we are as God. We know good and bad. Good is the connection upon that bad, which is revealed as a preparation from the Creator, or out of love He prepared for us the lack of connection, the evil, the bad, so that we will reveal Him as good. Go ahead.

M. Laitman: Read it again, please.

Reader: Again, except number 5, Baal HaSulam, letter 60.

Reading: (01:13:20) 5. Baal Hasulam. Letter 60 - Twice

There was a precondition from the beginning of the reception of the Torah, but afterward, since the time of the making of the calf, the package has been taken apart,

M. Laitman: (01:13:35) Meaning, what is that condition to receive the Torah? What was the Torah given for? The Torah was given in order to reach connection between us till the level of love thy friend as thyself. That, through it, we discover through this love between the created beings, we discover, and you love the Lord your God in the complete adhesion. That was the condition. It was clear to everybody that that is the condition. The problem is that, we need to keep holding onto these things upon the trouble that is increasing between us and increasing will to receive, and demanding us to keep this condition of connection more, and more and more. And from moment to moment, from time to time, the shattered will to receive is revealed more. We need to hold on to unity, love, connection, mutual work, mutual prayer, mutual support. And we weren't successful.

That's why in the first Temple still, problems were revealed and sustaining the connection between us and the level of love thy friend as thyself. And as he said, this package or this bundle that we were able to establish in the degree of Bina, entering the degree of the land of Israel, starting to engage in love, this bundle started separating. From then on, we are in a regression.

The Kabbalists say that this process is necessary, that we need to go through the first state of the shattering, of the destruction of the first Temple, meaning what we've built. Also, the second Temple that has to be demolished, it's necessary. And we beyond it, as much as we can, have to hold on to the connection to love thy friend as thyself, as Rabbi Akiva demanded from his students. But those students, the best of the best from that generation, weren't able to do it. The hatred was revealed between them.

We are in a completely different state; that after the shattering of the first and second Temples and the exiles that were revealed, we are in a state that we are before building the third Temple, that without any doubt will be built. But the question is, as much as we can support this with our exertion, as much as we here can aid this matter by a tendency from our own desire, a good, correct in connection, a tendency towards mutual love from the created beings to the love of the Creator and not through trouble that can also bring us there, but through a long way to that same corrected state. Please keep reading. This excerpt is very, very special, very moving. You can start from the beginning.

(01:17:46) 5. Baal Hasulam. Letter 60 - Twice

There was a precondition from the beginning of the reception of the Torah, but afterward, since the time of the making of the calf, the package has been taken apart, since wars occurred and the children of Levi killed three thousand men by the word of the Creator,

M. Laitman: (01:18:05) What does that mean that this bundle separated and the wars took place? That the will to receive that was revealed after they committed to work about for love and connection in Mount Sinai, the spiritual, not geography. The inner spiritual that I commit to take all the forces I need for my correction in the connection with the others, and I try in all my forces to be concerned about the mutual connection, that this connection means that we've built the temple, the vessel between us that the Creator has revealed it, and we didn't sustain this commitment. We couldn't, and the package was separated, what he wrote. Even though there were guards, and officers, the sons of Levi, as he says, but still, the hatred was revealed in the nation of Israel, and in that revelation of hatred, vessels started being revealed as shattered more and more.

The state started deteriorating from the moment the first Temple was created. The deterioration in that group called the nation of Israel was revealed, and the connection between them, a greater will to receive was revealed, and they were unable, and were unable, from state to state, from generation to generation to stop the deterioration until they reached the state of the exile in Babylon.

 Reading: (01:20:08) 5. Baal Hasulam. Letter 60

and then the grievances against Moses and Aaron, and the spies. Naturally, all those did not add love or unity. Afterward, after the coming to the land [of Israel], it was still not quiet. Hence, it was irrelevant to ask anyone to uphold this prime Commandment.

M. Laitman: “Love thy friend as thy self.”

Reading: (01:20:39) However, in order for the Torah not to be forgotten from Israel, they began to engage in the rest of the commandments although they had abandoned its main point, since they had no other choice.

M. Laitman: (01:20:52) Meaning that there is another matter of keeping the mitzvot corporeally. All kinds of states that can bring us to inspiration, to excitement internally, to bring us closer, and as something that comes before, supposedly, keeping the mitzvot spiritually. And they said, that's enough for us. And because of that, the wars began in the nation of Israel. That there were the Perushim, the Tzedokim, all kinds of groups, sects that came, and they were all fighting those that in our days are called Kabbalists, that they understand that love thy friend as thyself is the path to love your Lord, which is the peak of human development.

Reading: (01:22:09) 5. Baal Hasulam. Letter 60

M. Laitman: (01:22:40) Meaning, the Second Temple was demolished from the lack of brotherly love, the lack of love thy friend as thyself, that there actually the whole matter was shattered. The First Temple, you can say that it was shattered from not being able to keep love the Lord your God. The Second Temple was demolished, because of the lack of the foundation for love the Lord your God, meaning love thy friend as thyself.

So here today, after the two shatterings, we are in the complete shattering, if we can say that about the destruction. We don't have love of others, and we don't have love of the Creator. And both these things exist one in the other. And obviously, it doesn't help us that we're doing all kinds of external actions, meaning not in our hearts, but in all things that are written in Shulchan Aruch, all kinds of states. God forbid, we don't object to it, but we say that these things are completely not sufficient for correction of human nature, correcting the soul, which is what we need to correct. Questions?

Question (Jerusalem): (01:24:29) Is there a connection between the time of redemption of Israel and the time of redemption of man?

M. Laitman: As we learn in perception of reality, there is no geography, there is no history, there is no this world. It's all imaginary, and we only exist as desires that come closer or move far away from each other. Until we reach by efforts in our desires and intentions only, this entire system is a system of desires and intentions, and not what we think that we exist in some kind of world. That's why it's called the imaginary world, and all of our correction is only through correcting the desire with the intention.

As we learn in the Partzufim, we have a desire called the Guf of the Partzuf. We have an intention called the Rosh of the Partzuf, and with the intention to bestow, we have to keep all the desires that are in the Guf, that they will be bestowing in order to bestow or receiving in order to bestow. That's what's happening in the world, and everything that we see that's still, vegetative, and speaking in the corporeal level, it's all, it only seems to us as we learn in the wisdom of Kabbalah—that's called the imaginary world. We study this many times about perception of reality; and obviously, the more you learn about it, you still can't understand it until you don't feel it. So, let's try and feel the relationships between us on the degree of desire and intention only.

Question (St Petersburg): (01:26:42) So, it turns out that in my attitude towards my Ten, my friends I motivate or I send those hundreds of missiles?

M. Laitman: No doubt that it's that way, that we are guilty with all the problems, including all the problems that are falling upon us personally, or in a group, or the whole nation. And obviously, we are guilty for the problems that take place around the whole world and all of humanity, all, everything. If in our general development, if the light shines upon us in the shattered vessel that He broke on purpose in order to resurrect them from the shattering and feel the Creator between them, if the light that reveals itself towards those vessels that needs to reveal them towards the vessels in a certain intensity, that the vessel will awaken towards the light, that the vessel will feel the light, that the vessel will want to be like the light, then if we still aren't ready for it, that's our problem. That's a problem in this group called the Nation of Israel. That's why the rest of the groups, the rest of the nations turn to us on purpose. And they're correct. Why aren't you doing what you're supposed to do? And you need to discover the method of correction, the method of connection. Take us please, as it's written in Yeshayahu's prophecy, and the nations took them and they take the nation of Israel on their shoulders and raise them to the mountain of the Creator. They're willing to do it. And the problems that are falling on them, it's because of our negligence. That's why we have to strengthen ourselves, receive Arvut between us and perform the action. And as much as it seems to us that we're not ready for it, that it's far away from us, how can we do it? How can we? It doesn't matter. It only seems to us that way. If it comes to us, it means that we can.

Question (Revadim): (01:29:24) What comes first—the full land of Israel or the temple? First the AHAP has to reach the degree of the Temple or only those in Bnei Baruch?

M. Laitman: We need to see ourselves, the group is Bnei Baruch, is the group that explains to the whole world. First to the Nation of Israel and then to the whole world, the current state—why we feel ourselves in the shattering. Why the whole world feels the shattering? Why we are coming closer to all kinds of problems and troubles? We need all of this in order to discover all this ourselves, and to explain it to the entire Nation of Israel, and then to all the nations of the world. That is called light to the nations. But in the group of Bnei Baruch, I see it as obligated to do this action. That's why on one hand; obviously, there is revelation of evil, problems, troubles and a negative attitude towards us. We have to understand that. What can you do? We still need to continue and tell everybody what the correction is that they have to do. The correction is not necessarily in corporeal actions that are called Mitzvot in our nation, but also and even more in keeping the intentions and desires. Which is called the Internal Torah, internal work, the internality of the Torah, the Torah of truth that we need to keep.

Reading: (01:31:35) 6. Baal Hasulam. Shamati 199. To Every Man of Israel

Every man of Israel has an internal point in the heart, which is considered simple faith. This is an inheritance from our fathers, who stood on Mount Sinai. However, it is covered by many Klipot [shells], which are all kinds of dresses of Lo Lishma [not for Her sake], and the Klipot must be removed. Then his basis will be called “faith alone,” without any support and outside help.

M. Laitman: (01:32:17) So, each one who feels himself Yashar El, that he has a tendency to discover the essence of creation, what I live for, what's happening with the world, this question is awakened more and more in everybody. Only still, this tendency to reveal the truth is wrapped in lies. And that's how it is everywhere. That's why it's called that a thousand enter the room, and one goes out to the light. That it's not at once that we can reach it. But gradually, gradually, even though as Baal HaSulam determines that we're in the last generation. But the last generation can also be, include a few corporeal generations. That's why we patiently have to relate to everything that's happening to us—that we have to, as a link in a chain throughout the generations. We have to fulfill our destiny as much as we can ourselves to connect to the Creator and the connection between us. And as much as we can from the Creator to pass the light on to the whole nation in the method of connection. And afterwards, that is actually our work called Yashar El. As much as we awaken the world through this, bring ourselves closer to the Creator and all earth dwellers, that is actually our destiny. That's our role. And we need to be happy about it that He gave this to us. And even though we…. It's hard work. It is spiritual work. It is the work of the Creator. That's why we will not let it go, but we'll keep doing it in all our forces. And from day to day, we'll see that except for this work, there is nothing else to do. Just to complete this work and raise the whole world to the degree of the Creator.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:34:44) On Independence Day, we celebrate political independence, and we have 71 years of an independent state, prospering state. So, what kind of independence are we lacking?

M. Laitman: I don't see we have independence. We're not independent, not spiritually, obviously, and not corporeally. Spiritually, we can be independent only if we have forces to deal with our will to receive. And our will to receive is in the hands of the Creator. The Creator is revealing it, and obviously, that we in this cannot be independent. But our independence in the will to receive depends completely on our connection with the Creator.

So, as much as I'm connected to Him in participation, in adhesion, in being truly connected in such a way that He fills me, and I'm in independence from my will to receive that wants to control me, but since I ascribe myself with equivalence of form to the light, so I become independent from my egoistic will to receive, I can be above it and even manage it.

That is the complete full independence. In that independence, we have from the Tzimtzum, the restriction, and afterwards, the Ibur, the conception, birth, suckling, and more, and more, and more states. So, spiritual independence we understand. But corporeal independence can't take place if we aren't in spiritual independence. We can't say that we're independent. We're dependent on all nations of the world. It can't be that we sustain ourselves without a good connection with the nations of the world.

The Creator gives us an ability to exist because we, these shattered vessels especially that need to bring correction for ourselves and through us to the world, but it is all in the negative attitude of the nations towards us. That's why it turns out that we won't get a good attitude towards us and to be in a good surrounding in this world, but each time it's revealed in all kinds of ways that once it's some country from the world that will help us, or support us, and so on. That's why we exist.

But it's all because we have a correction for the future, a role for the future. And if we completely disregard it, so just as we were rewarded with this independence, some kind of, we were also rewarded, if you can say it in commas, we were rewarded supposedly with a holocaust that we weren't keeping the Arvut between us and our destiny towards the nations of the world. That is why we see that from day to day we are in the increasing antisemitism, negative attitude towards us, and we ourselves are guilty about it, and nobody else.

The Creator doesn't want it to happen. He wants us to advance in the good connection and not also the nations of the world that are suffering more than us corporeally from this whole crisis that we're revealing by us disregarding the correction. That's why we need to wake up and disseminate as much as we can in the Nation of Israel, first of all, then in the world if we can, as much as we can, and the main thing between us is the connection between us, because in the connection between us, we become the point of connection between the world and the Creator, and then the upper light can come through us to the whole nations of the world.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:39:51) If our role is to be servants of the world, to be dependent and slave to the whole world, so in what exactly our independence is expressed?

M. Laitman: Exactly in that it's expressed. Let's read it again. All the writings of Baal HaSulam about it. Obviously it's, we are obligated towards the world, to keep our destiny correctly towards the world. By that, we are rewarded with independence. What is the independence? Not that they press on us to help them exist, but that we will awaken them and the Creator. That we are between them and the Creator, but we will awaken them and the Creator to connect through us and be that wondrous chain, where the Creator reveals Himself throughout all of reality. And He wants to be revealed specifically in the lower vessels that can't correct themselves, but only through us. That is our independence. Our independence is that we are keeping this chain of connection from the Creator, through us to all of the created beings, and raising the MAN through all the created beings through us to the Creator in such a way that this chain, this line started working from top to bottom. By this we keep our independence. Independence doesn't mean that we are running away from our responsibility, or our work, or our place in this chain of the Creator—us as the Rosh of the Partzuf, and the rest of the world as the Guf of the Partzuf. We don't see independence by leaving that system. No, our independence is specifically by performing as the Rosh of the Partzuf of the general soul.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:42:10) So, instead of being enslaved to our ego, we are now being enslaved to humanity?

M. Laitman: Of course. And the Creator, and humanity, and by this we keep our destiny. By this, we will be independent. That is the role of the nation of Israel, Yashar El, to take all of humanity to connection with the Creator.

Student: And how the independence is expressed in the quality of bestowal?

M. Laitman: That by this, we bestow to the Creator and the nations. We are the pipeline between both.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:42:52) From the beginning of the lesson, we learned that Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob taught the people of Israel, and we see that the people of Israel forget, and they reach Arvut and forget, and they receive the Torah and forget about it, and even in one of the excerpts he says, so that the Torah will not be forgotten from Israel, and then they forget the main thing, the important thing. So, we come to the morning lesson: we sit here, we forget why we came here for, we go out of the lesson, we forget what we have studied. What is that force of forgetfulness? There is Memorial Day, we do all that we can not to forget, but we do. How does it serve the purpose of creation, that force called forgetfulness?

M. Laitman: I think that in the next few days we should learn what Baal HaSulam writes about forgetfulness. He has a specific article about that. We will ask our friend to bring us those sentences that forgetfulness is a great correction; meaning being in the old vessels. And every time a new vessel is revealed in that vessel, we can again and again make new corrections. By this, we reach the general correction of the general vessel. That is why forgetting is a correction, just like all things that are revealed from above on us, and in this world is a correction. Everything that is revealed in the world is corrections.

The corrections they just reveal themselves in all kinds of different forms. And are we ready for them or not? But it's all corrections. Even if we go through it in a horrible way sometimes, wars, problems, troubles and so on. But still it's corrections. Not desired in the eyes of the Creator in our eyes, but it's a correction. Even if you got those missiles there, and problems, and troubles and people were killed, and people were sitting in the shelters in fear—it's still a correction. Even though we could have gone through these things in a nice, internal, easy way, and reach a different degree, not as now but by attaining spirituality and not by losing corporeally.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:45:48) From your explanation, what's clear is that this whole process repeats itself. And revealing the evil, the process of shattering as a corporeal branch started from the moment of the reception of Torah, so it seems. And all the attempts of leaders of Kabbalists against the revelation of the Kli is to resurrect the Kli which will be suitable for the revelation of the light, this is what is depicted there right now. The Temple, first, second, third, it's only humanity's attempt to keep balance.

M. Laitman: What you said is correct, if you're not asking. So, what you said is correct.

Student: I had a question.

M. Laitman: You had a question, and you answered it yourself. Okay, you answered it right.

Question (Moscow): (01:47:05) Today you said that our whole work is in looking for deficiencies. If to compare today's and yesterday’s lesson, we see that it is a result of the event in Israel. The whole world Kli during the lesson had one deficiency. There was a feeling of responsibility, fear, awe. In that, we were all in the head of the spear as one group. And today, that sensation disappeared. And now we are in a state of general slumber. And our whole work in looking for deficiencies. We ourselves can create such an artificial deficiency by praying or only by receiving the suffering of the world and by responding to it one way or another.

M. Laitman: It's not good if we ourselves need to awaken ourselves, and we can't. We do get an opportunity to awaken ourselves before the Creator awakens us through all kinds of unpleasant events. And we need to awaken ourselves. That's called, I awaken the dawn. How? We are not one, we are many people. Each and every one can awaken the other. Let's awaken ourselves by some kind of stimulation, envy, lust, honor, shame. They can awaken us, show us where the deficiencies are and the connection between us. And the connection, we don't need anything else, just the connection between us. Lack of connection to reveal it and right away correct it and then reveal more lack of connection and correct it, too. So, then in the left, we reveal the lack of connection and in the right, we correct it. The left, lack of connection, and the right, correct it. And in this way, we do it very quickly like walking on two legs. And it all depends on you. And don't wait and say, yesterday I was in a state of a deficiency, and I had something and today don't. If you don't do it, don't wait for Him to do it to you. He can do it, you know, through what? Through blows, disease, problems, financial, health, everything you want. Why should you wait for it? This is called that you aren't working correctly, that you're not going to attain your spiritual state, that you are sufficient with your beastly form. I feel good. That's it. I'm in Nirvana, and I feel good. And thank God, I don't care about anything. Let Him not do anything. That's not called that you're drawn to spiritual work, drawn to connection with the Creator. So, there's no point complaining that yesterday was like this, today it's different. On the contrary, today will be more advanced; not given awakening through some lack. They want you to create this on your own. Go ahead.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:50:33) Concerning revealing the broken Kelim in the process we're going through, is it necessary for broken Kelim to be revealed all the time?

M. Laitman: Of course, how else will something be revealed? What's in reality besides the broken Kelim? Nothing. But, if I discover it in my direction, when I wish to discover it, that's a completely different story. I'm going to discover it now with my beloved friend, that I love, that I embrace, that I look at, and I discover a good relationship between us. Just like the fellow from the Moscow group. He says, everything's great today, I don't know what to do, what's missing? Discover the lack, discover that you're in connection. And if you discover it, that is called, “I awaken the dawn.” And you will discover the lack to the point that, just like the students of Rabbi Shimon, that they wanted to kill each other, and then they could also correct the situation.

The whole artistry of spirituality is to discover the evil of our own accord, and then asking for the correction to good, that's not a problem. But rather to discover, to reveal the evil. Let's say now we're sitting together, everything's okay, there are no rockets flying anymore, everything's okay, let's go home to bed. The teacher, he appears there on the screen, I can turn him off, or even just, you know, lower the volume so it buzzes a bit less in my ear, and, you know, just take it all down. And the friends don't really look at me today, I'm not looking at them either. So let's, you know, let's stop a little and take a break. And that's the problem, that's already where we invite troubles and problems, through this negligence.

You each moment have to be in either request from the Creator or gratitude to the Creator; there's nothing in between. There's no state that is neither an ascent nor a descent. There's no such thing in spirituality. If that happens, that means you've detached, disconnected from the path, and then, mister, what you're doing is you're awakening the troubles. Because the engine keeps moving, and instead of you spinning the wheel towards the purpose of creation you're letting it go, and then it continues to spin slower, but it starts sort of moving over you like a press. And then it already starts to ride over you and flatten you on the ground. So, we mustn't calm down, but rather always keep looking and searching like the old man that is searching for the deficiencies that I can correct, the lacks of connection between us only.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:54:15) So, I wanted to ask about how the broken Kelim become revealed, because we're supposed to look for them in the lack of connection between us, and if we don't do it, then those broken Kelim become troubles, blows, wars, antisemitism, what we see in the world.

M. Laitman: Yes. Yes, yes, yes, yes, because you don't bring the light of Hassadim to them. So, they appear as broken vessels that with the lack of Hassadim, you discover them as shells, Klipot, and they begin to pressure you and invite all kinds of troubles and problems to you in both corporeality and spirituality. In spirituality, you don't yet sense what you're causing, but you're going to in corporeality.

Student: So, from the perspective of the Creator, this is all that comes, broken Kelim. I shouldn't expect anything else to come from Him other than broken Kelim.

M. Laitman: Because He broke the Kli of Adam HaRishon, and that's what we've got to correct. And other than this work of correction, nothing else appears.

Student: So, what is in my hands to do? What can I do about the breaking that I reveal between me and a friend?

M. Laitman: Discover the shattering if you can. Do that in advance, before it appears from above. This is called, “I awaken the dawn,” and then ask for correction. That's all. And so each and every time, in each and every state, that is the only thing you need to do.

Student: So, walking like an old man means I'm looking for the bad, for the breaking?

M. Laitman: Yes, yes. That's the evil that's between you and the friend. You sit next to the friend, and you want to be his friend. So, you want to be his friend on a higher level, on a more connected, closer level. That you each feel that in that overlapping part between you, that common space between you, you want to discover the Creator. There's you, and there's the friend. You sit together. You help each other. Okay, great. Now you want to build something that's not going to be yours or his. It's going to be common to both of you. So, in that common space between you, what do you want to have there? Everyone nullifies himself there to connect to the other. So, you're building a vessel of bestowal, which is reciprocal. Everyone helps the other. Look at what I'm doing. Look at what you're doing. Let's do it together, etc. You're building this Kli together, and this is a new Kli. It's not his. It's not yours. It's above your ego and his ego. That's a spiritual vessel already, that it's above the will to receive. And what do you want? You want to relate that Kli to the Creator. It is neutral to each of you. And you're helping each other detach from yourselves. Everyone helps the other, and then the Creator helps you. You will turn to Him to help you build this common vessel and fulfill this vessel. And then you'll feel how He fills this common lack between you that is actually detached from each of you already, and that will become your soul. This soul is not in any one of us. It's only between us or above us. And that's how you build the Kli. Look at how close this is to you. It's right next to you.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:58:19) That's clear, but where does looking for the bad come in here?

M. Laitman: Don't look for the evil. Always look for the good. Don't look for the evil. The deficiency you need to find is a deficiency. It's not evil. You're looking for how to be above my current evil that I don't want to connect with a friend. How to be good in terms of connecting to Him and the Creator.

Student: Okay, and revealing a broken Kli between us is a result of looking for the good?

M. Laitman: I don't need to discover the broken Kli. I'm inclined to discover the spiritual Kli. Where you are in your thoughts is where you're at. Why do you want to look for the evil, to look for the shattering? It will surface. Look for the good state, which is where I exit myself and the friends exit themselves, and we're building a common vessel. That's what we need. We need it to appear between us.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:59:47) What our friend in Moscow described in the friend, this happens in all the groups, in all the Tens. We are in a situation where we are discovering that we are friends, everything is fine. There is love among the friends. We disseminate everything. We have meetings. There's no bad. I'm sorry. So, what's missing?

M. Laitman: So, let's go to bed. Why do you wake up at night? We have to understand that if on the corporeal level, so to speak, everything's good, that is temporary. If I will leave this matter and won't correct things spiritually, not corporeally, although in corporeality, there's nothing to fix. Everything is good, beautiful. In spirituality, love is missing. It's not like you say that love resides between the friends. Connection is lacking. Revelation of the Creator is missing. That's the indication that there's no connection. If there is connection between the broken pieces, then in them, the Creator appears to the extent of the shattered Kli as well as the Kli that has corrected itself.

Meaning, the broken Kli brings Aviut, thickness, and the correction of the Kli brings Masach, screen, on top of the thickness. So then the will to receive, which is equipped with a screen, gives us the condition for the revelation of the upper light, or Creator. That's all we need to do. Now, don't say we all love each other. We're all connected to each other. I don't see that. I don't see that. I see that there are a lot of misunderstandings and distance. People don't want to connect. They don't think of each other during the day. They're not sorry for not being in a common heart, common desire. Don't delude yourself. How come you settle for where you are? If you do then just retire, and that's it. I don't see anything good about our state. I see the world is suffering, which indicates that we are not okay. I see that we're not discovering the Creator. I don't sense that He appears between us and receives contentment from us. So, how do you feel calm about your situation? What are you talking about? What are you calming us down for?  Keep going.

Student: This is the first time I'm speaking. I speak to all the friends, and I see it's the first time that we are in a situation where there's flavor in the Ten. I enjoy the friends. I see the friends as great. It's huge, and maybe it's not connection. And I want to be in a situation that Rav is describing. But how, if we're constantly trying to be in, there's nothing else besides Him, justify the friends, do what Rabash says, how in such a state, from where does the bad come?

M. Laitman: (02:03:47) I'll ask you this. Let me ask you. Don't you feel now that you have the ability to add more inclination towards the friends, yearning towards them, more desire, deficiency to be connected to them, to be bonded with them, that in this direction of approaching them, let's say this was the distance between me and them, now I draw closer to them. So, to the extent that I come closer, here I make space. I make room. That was A, state A.

Now, state B. I'm moving towards state B. The gap between A to B is the gap where I let the Creator become revealed. Am I doing that? Can I do it now? Then I have to do it. I make room for Him to be revealed because I nullify my will to receive. I connect and attach myself more to the friends. More and more, and through this kind of mutual effort, we make room for His revelation to appear between us, within us, and each one does that towards the friend. And that's inner work, it's emotional, it's not anything else. Don't say everything's great, everything's okay. What's okay? The Creator is revealed? No. The good that does good does not appear between us. We feel that we're closer to each other, that we have regained the structure of Adam HaRishon? No.

Student: We have to work, Rav. We have to work.

M. Laitman: Oh, now you say that we have to work, that we shouldn't calm down. Good.

Student: Rav, I want to say the truth about what happens in all the Tens right now. Maybe, I don't know, maybe I'm not hearing something.

M. Laitman: You don't want to awaken yourself. You don't want to make an effort in coming closer to the friends. You don't feel a lack.

Student: That's true.

M. Laitman: I understand you. That's correct. Now, how will you discover a deficiency, when you don't feel it? That's the whole thing. And if you don't find it today, the Creator will show it to you tomorrow, or later on, and that will come then by blows. And if you start discovering the deficiencies between you and the friends that you wish to connect to them, come closer to them more, even though you don't feel any need for it, but you want to advance towards them, to overcome yourself, your indifference, your convenience, all of that, you wish to draw closer to them, and if you do, you merit revelation. And if you don't, because you have no awakening to that, nothing's stinging you from the back, like a Stimo, as it's called, like a prod, then you're disrespecting the work, and then troubles will come.

That's the whole thing. If it's either you awaken the dawn or the darkness appears to you in an uncomfortable, unpleasant way. And we are looking at today, studying how can we avoid more troubles to appear in our future, unlike what the Holocaust Memorial Day mentions to us, or the IDF Memorial Day. So, this is why we have to awaken the dawn friends, and not wait for wars, troubles, rockets to come. The Creator is only mentioning the situation to us, mentioning our role to us.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (02:08:42) Since the election and even before, and now with what happened in the South, if before that we would say that when there's trouble, you feel that there's connection in the people, suddenly people are willing to help each other. In the last few weeks, it took on a completely different direction. It's more and more sensed that one part hates the other part. They don't care. They want to just disconnect from one another.

M. Laitman: We have to yell louder. We have to bring up this issue more intensely. We have to find people among the nation who understand us somewhat like that guy and others, perhaps academics or from wherever they are, from all the layers of the population.

People who can understand us, that if we don't work in our unity, then troubles will rise, and antisemitism will increase to the point that we can't stand it. The Creator will find you anywhere; even in your own house, you won't feel safe. I'm talking about a corporeal, bodily, beastly situation. I'm not even talking about our emotional, spiritual state, that we need to correct it. So, we have to explain this to the people better and better. So, join dissemination, that's the main thing in our time.

We see according to how things unfold, and what we learn from the Kabbalists, that we must come to the right kind of dissemination and explanation, that people will understand and feel, and let's at least do what's up to us. What's up to us? I don't care if they hear or not, I yell. Let's learn how to better approach the people. They hear us, great. Don't, they don't. We keep going. We keep going. Let's say you have a family or children that don't want to listen to you. So what, the parents just leave their kids alone, throw them to the ocean? What do they do about it? You can't stop and just let them go. It's yours. You have to. The Creator gave this to you, and you have to work. So, that's first of all, it's a disrespect to the mission that you've received from the Creator. Let's keep going.

Question (Silicon Valley): (02:11:50) You said now that we could prevent the missiles on the south. And it's clear that we're not doing our work enough. Soon will be Victory Day on May 9, when the Russians will celebrate it. Could we also prevent World War III? And if we could, was it Baal HaSulam's group that could of prevented World War II?

M. Laitman: Of course. Sure, Baal HaSulam writes about it. Why do you ask me if it's written very clearly about it? Of course. All the troubles of the world come due to our negligence. The question here just shows that you need to go deeper into the sources. No calamity or troubles come to the world but due to Israel being negligent in their role.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (02:13:01) I wanted to continue. Usually, in times of war, we connect naturally. And in the last round of war, you could feel that there's no natural cohesion in the people, no connection during trouble. So, how do you talk to the people without frightening them?

M. Laitman: No, not to frighten them. That's the art that we need to master. Let's hope that we'll meet and discuss this more and perhaps try to find a new line in our dissemination to the people of Israel. I don't know. Baal HaSulam didn't succeed, but that doesn't stop me. And I'm willing to continue and do what's possible. We can't let these things go. The Creator sets up these things for us. I can say the same thing with regards to Baal HaSulam. He didn't stop. He kept going. So, he was prevented from publicizing his booklets. So, what could he do? He then was prevented from publishing his newspapers. So, he tried something else.

In our case, no one's stopping us. We can do whatever we're permitted to do, and we have to think about more and more ways to approach the nation and tell them that the situation we're in, we think that we are pushing these troubles away. We don't. Next time, it'll be worse. Now, we had, what, 500, 600 rockets flying to Israel, and we see it's like the Creator is scaring us, kind of telling us—you know pointing a finger at us. But this could be serious, more serious.

We have to understand that our enemies have a lot of power, and causing troubles to us all over the world is possible. And we are a small nation, a small country that can be closed in on from all directions, and the Creator doesn't lack any means through them. And so, we don't have a choice. We have to find ways for correction, and the correction is in connecting between us.

Through the connection between us, the light, even a small amount of light, comes into the world. Let's try. Let's do this. Let's have, say, a month of truce among the people of Israel. Let's stop cursing each other, and hating each other, and try to be closer to each other corporeally, even with no connection to the Creator or to come to adhesion with the Creator. Just the way that the common people can understand, the love of Israel protects us. Let's try to do that. Let's try to have love for Israel, just like, you know, parents tell their kids, stop fighting, be friends with each other, play nice together.

Let's turn this way to the people for a month. Let's try to do that. Let's see what happens. Let's see. First of all, you'll see how much easier it'll be to keep going afterwards, because habit becomes a second nature. That's one.

Two, let's see. Let's see it in our own eyes. Let's see how much that will influence the world's attitude to us, our stock market, the army, our children, the car accidents, divorce rates, whatever it is. Let's look at the statistics for a month. Let's see what happens to the people of Israel when they stop their inner conflicts.

That I think is anyway worthwhile to tell the people and awaken them towards that. Let's do this kind of task. I'm sorry we can't have a lesson together tomorrow. You're going to do a lesson, when we will be on a plane. And let's hope that the day after, we'll already come back to the normal lessons and think—how do we turn to the people of Israel with this task so that we won't have any more troubles like the memorial days remind us about? Only connection and love that will dwell among the people and come into the whole world. Thank you and goodbye.
