Part 1:
Rabash. Article No. 10 (1987) What Is the Substance of Slander and Against Whom Is It?
1. Rav’s Introduction: Yes, the article is pretty long but it's worthwhile for us to see also how Rabash goes along with it and we'll take a few things from it both the topic and how he presents it, please.
2. R. (01:04:57) What's with you friend?
3. S. (01:04:28) It's a bit hard for me what he wrote here, he says all who slander the Creator said me and him cannot dwell in the world. To slander is to degrade the friend? What exactly is he referring to here?
R. Slander first of all is about the Creator and then the means to attain the Creator which is the friends and there is no more.
S. There is an additional topic here that I don't get what he writes here: and if I still have not reached adhesion with the Creator and I think about it and talk about this is that called slander even if I don't tell anybody, I'm just thinking about it, it's internal slander?
R. No, the slander is that you are saying I have come, I have arrived.
S. So if I tell the friend I haven’t come is that slander? He says that if you haven’t reached it and you talk about it it's called slander?
R. What you put forth work, labor, sure.
S. What do you mean sure?
R. There is a condition that if you put forth the labor then you receive a reward and a result.
S. That’s not called slander?
R. Then it is considered a slander of the Creator.
S. Right, I am complaining I haven't reached it yet. Is that called slander?
R. If a contractor comes to you and says you do this and that and will receive this and that. You did this and that and all of a sudden someone comes and says I did what he told me and I did not receive. That's called slandering about that contractor, yes?
S. Yes, so I have a question.
R. No, but what I said is that clear?
S. Yeah, Yeah. When I am sitting and working in the ten what is called slander between friends? What is slander between the friends if there is such a thing?
R. Slander within the friends is truly the harshest, worst thing that can be.
S. Can you give us an example of slander between the friends?
R. That what you are talking about is not causing connection between friends.
S. That slander?
R. That's actually it, yes.
S. I have to pet them all day and tell them nice things about how wonderful you are, where is this about? I have to tell and look he did something that's so good I have to tell you.
R. Right.
S. So would that be slander if I told him that he did something bad?
R. No.
S. So insulting him?
R. Humiliating him, rejecting him, pushing him, separating him from the Creator in some manner.
S. So with this you have to be careful not to hurt the friends?
R. Yes.
4. S. (01:08:02) If I don't speak slander but I have thoughts like this about a friend and I have complaints about him but I know if I think something about a friend and I know it's in me and I need to correct this quality. So he says there are Torah and Mitzvot that correct me. What are Torah and Mitzvot that correct me so I won’t speak bad about the friend but correct myself?
R. First of all, thank the Creator for showing you something bad in the others and now you can correct this attitude and by that advance to the good.
S. Let's say I see something bad about myself, I thank the Creator but how do we correct it by Torah and Mitzvot?
R. You advance towards them, towards the friends, and enter with them into all kinds of connections and in these connections you will pass to them the good attitude towards them, to support them and that is considered that you are correcting the relations between you. We don't have many words here.
5. S. (1:10:00) It sounds like slander has a spiritual force.
R. And how, of course. Slander is a spiritual force just like the Sitra Achra is a spiritual force.
S. An example that he gives with the friends is that Reuven tells Shimon slander about Levi then it kills all three right? and he repeats it a few times. Right?
R. It is written, well?
S. I’m trying to understand because with Reuven who spoke slander and Shimon who listened to him I get, but why, who they spoke about, Levi, why was he hurt?
R. I don't remember these G’marot exactly but probably due to if two are talking about the third one that he is bad or caused bad then probably there is something to it.
S. Maybe more to clarify, if I said something bad about the friend why did the Creator give me the spiritual force in those words to hurt the friend?
R. Because who are you? You are part of the world and you need to transfer only for positive things for the correction of the world and all of a sudden you're saying no towards that friend, I have a different opinion, he's bad.
S. Okay I get it that the friend may have gotten insulted, I don't understand how there is spiritual slander?
R. Because you disconnected him in your eyes, meaning within your qualities from the whole system.
S. Well why wasn’t I just hurt?
R. No, also to him because in your connection with him, just like the connection you have with all created beings but with him you cut off the connection.
S. He says that on corporeal pleasures there were no concealment and restrictions for the world to exist, so I understand regarding bodily matters let's say things that are unhealthy and unnecessary. Why do we still receive them? Kind of like slander, why does this exist?
R. We have many kinds of pleasures that we do not feel it necessary to use or to all together observe them because we have yet to reach them. We have not come to the degree in which we understand that they exist.
S. I'm not talking about spiritual pleasures that we have, restriction, concealment, I get that but why do we have these corporeal pleasures of the will to receive that we don’t need them for our existence, bodily at least, why do we have such things?
R. The time will come when you will want to use them, you will need them and you will use them or not use them.
S. But why do I have pleasure from slander?
R. It's good for you.
S. You said it's harmful to me? Now it's good?
R. In order to see that it is harmful and to the extent that you won't use it, you need to grow more.
6. S. (1:14:10) What does it mean to receive good and abundance from the Creator? Just to receive the reward for doing some action? Or maybe not do anything at all? Like sit and do nothing?
R. We receive from the Creator a reward, some pleasant reward when we do a certain commandment which is a correction of the shattering and then accordingly we receive because in the new connections between us, which we carry out or cause to be executed, we understand and make room for the expansion of the abundance and this is how we have a good feeling.
S. But all in all, it is the same reward right? Our sensation is the reward that we receive from this state that I really want to feel good and receive this good and abundance from the Creator? Then I make all the efforts? If I didn't know I would receive it then I would do things better right?
R. Yes.
S. Another question please: the holy language being the face and the anterior and the Aramaic translation being the posterior, how can you tie this to our work in the group when we learn the writings of the Kabbalists?
R. The holy tongue is Hebrew, in which we receive the Torah and the system of laws over which we can base ourselves and incorporate in them and add an illumination to all the worlds. The opposite to Hebrew, is the tongue of the translation. The language of translation. You're not asking about that right?
S. Yes, I asked how I can use such things? The holy language we agree that it is Hebrew, right? But I am learning Kabbalah in the group, let's say my group listens to the lessons in foreign languages like English, Russian, it doesn't matter. All I know is that the receiving is not the face, not the posterior but rather the more corrupted form? Can we say this?
R. No, we will learn it. It's not the translation that Baal HaSulam talks about from Hebrew to English and you are already in a different perception. It is not the meaning of that.
7. S. (1:18:00) Baal HaSulam says that there is no smallest motion of ours that we do without reward even moving our finger, and he says here, slander, that a person receives nothing from it other than hatred of others like it is something outside of his primordial nature, it causes great harm. Where did this begin, this thing, hatred of slander? I don't really even get anything out of it.
R. In the Creator, itt started in the Creator, the Creator says I have made the evil inclination.
S. A person does an action to some extent, he sees that he gets nothing out of it, just hate?
R. From zero to infinity.
8. S. (01:19:02) Can slander toward the friend, become expressed also in thought?
R. You're saying you're doing something without thinking about it first?
S. For sure, I'm not talking about slander, but in the article here that slander hurts me, the friend that they're talking about, and also the third friend. So how does slander get expressed where I see a friend doing something and then I slander him so how does slander become expressed in thought? What is happening there?
R. It enters into a person as a certain fact and it is registered in the brain, and then when a person plans something or does something he already uses what was caused by the slander.
S. So it hurts the general intention even if it stays with me?
R. Yes.
S. In the matter of slander toward the Creator, when I'm in a state when I’m in a descent I automatically enter the state of Pharaoh, who is the Creator why should I listen to him? That whole thing. Then they say in the article that the Creator cannot live with you, meaning you dispatch from the Creator. How can you exit that state? I forget about the Creator in a descent and I cannot rise because He is not with me.
R. Just the thought about it makes the Creator pull you back up.
9. S. (01:20:58) What is the recommended action in our state if you have slander toward the friend?
R. What's recommended is to engage in the opposite of slander, which is love, love of friends and then it is certain that you are going to watch yourself. In general, the way to watch over yourself from getting into all the transgressions is to engage in Mitzvot/commandments, meaning actions that bring the friends closer to one another.
10. S. (01:21:50) What is the difference between an accusation and the slander and if there is a difference?
R. Those things are so subtle and we don't know exactly how the sages divided in this way or that way. Both are bad.
S. Right, but an accusation, he says that slander is a sharp sword that kills everything but in a bad accusation he doesn't say that.
R. Yes, it's a little softer.
S. Slander is the most serious thing that exists?
R. It's like a knife, yes. That is slander.
11. S. (01:22:44) Why is hatred towards the created beings, why does that detach us from the Creator if He created evil inclination to begin with?
R. The Creator does not exist. To the extent that the created beings connect, in that connection, they assemble the connection between everyone called Creator.
S. Why is hatred toward the created beings, why does that create separation?
R. Hate toward the created beings, it’s rejection, it’s slander, it’s separation, it widens the gap between them and removes the opportunity for contact. So it turns out that you don't attain the Creator.
S. But why does it hurt, for example other inclinations like lust, they don't cause a distance but only when you hurt the created beings directly that is what causes this distance?
R. Because the Creator, that concept, is what we assemble from the connection between the created beings.
S. The entire evil inclination is only on the connection between the created beings when he says I created the evil inclination?
R. All of it. There’s no Creator without created being means that if the created beings do not connect, the concept of the Creator does not exist. The Creator is what we make from our connection.
S. The evil inclination to begin with comes to all the evil that you have toward the created beings not just, uh, and that is where the correction is?
R. Yes.
12. S. (01:25:02) If I understand correctly, he writes that a person has no taste in the study of Torah that is also considered slander. If that's correct, but if a person is in a will to receive, how can he have flavor in the study of Torah unless he has reached the quality of bestowal
R. He has to correct himself.
S. It turns out if a person is in the will to receive so he is always slandering the Creator?
R. Of course, yes. By being in the will to receive he is already slandering, making transgressions, he’s a transgressor.
S. I created the evil inclination, that’s as if it calms us down, it’s like I didn’t makeI this nature. It's not like toward a friend if I bring out that evil and I speak, but to begin with I am already evil.
R. Of course, at the end of the day you are just a conduit, or through you all these tendencies is including the evil inclination are going through you, you don't invent any of it, but nevertheless, you participate, you take part.
S. Meaning the whole matter is only to recognize that, to recognize that it is evil?
R. Recognize that it is evil and pass it to others as well because the recognition itself is not enough, you also pass it onwards.
13. S. (01:26:46) To understand, if I don't speak actively to slander but I don't act to love others am I in slander? Am I slandering?
R. A book about slander, there’s so much stuff about it I can't in one sentence. Slander means to harm someone in creation.
S. If I have no such intention?
R. It's not a matter of I don't have it. You have to investigate it and base everything to see if you have it or not. It’s possible that now it’s not revealed but you have it. Does that mean it exists or not?
S. If I do not act lovingly towards the friends outwardly, does that mean I am in slandering?
R. You have to scrutinize that, because if you are from the get go or made from the evil inclination, as the Creator said I have created the evil inclination and that's it, you’re in it. Now, if you are engaged in other things called Mitzvot/commandments then it’s possible at that moment, this time, you are not transgressing but the moment you let go of that you are likely falling immediately into a transgression.
S. When slander starts arising in me toward the friend, toward the Creator, toward anything, how can I swallow that, block it? How can I block that?
R. The best thing is to engage in Mitzva/commandment, if you are not engaged in commandments it’s likely you’re transgressing because something is controlling you one way or another because we are created beings. It’s recommended that we pay attention to what we do in each and every moment and that's why society is important to us.
S. What is a Mitzva toward the friend which is the opposite of slander towards him?
R. That I take myself and I take him and I raise us to the correct connection.
S. If in any case, I have this negative attitude toward a friend? What can I do in the same moment? Can I do something or am I just in the outcome of a previous state?
R. At the very least feel why, for what, how much do I hate him, in order to know this one thing, the other thing is that now I have to get the strength to practically deal with my attitude toward the friend. What will I do? And here, I need positive power.
S. Criticism toward the friend, is that considered slander?
R. It depends, criticism is neither good nor bad. Criticism can be in both directions. Why am I criticizing, what does it give me, what does it give to society, where does it come from, where should it take me? This is the beginning of the scrutiny.
S. I have complaints against the friend, how he works, how he does things, and many other things, is that slander?
R. No, not yet. It's possible it's not bad at all and you will help your friend rid himself of a few qualities and it's possible that you'll bring good to him and bring good to everyone else.
14. S. (01:31:20) Slander, is it a subjective, relative word?
R. Of course.
S. Because the more we speak about it, the more it seems like the person is engaged 99.99% in slander? What will come of us?
R. Correction.
S. Correction with the help of God as it said but for the time being, if I slander the creator, the friend?
R. Yes, to find out what and how and what and what to do so it won't repeat itself in place of that. In that, will reveal internal transgressions, greater transgressions, more fundamental ones and will work with them.
S. Because the more we progress the more the person sees what his intentions are?
R. It doesn't matter, it matters how much I can scrutinize it and correct it. The correction is to move away from them.
S. It's possible that I don't fight everyone, why did the Creator insert into the Sitra Achra and into the force it's certain a person will fail in that?
R. Because when you're in spirituality, you have to fight in the anti-spirituality. That's why you have before you the specifically evil force Sitra Achra the other side that those qualities are seemingly against spirituality. They bring us to understanding and connection with spirituality.
S. Is the idea of slander such that a person can never overcome his own strength? But only with the help of the society?
R. With the help of the light that reforms.
S. That comes through the society?
R. Yes.
15. S. (01:33:42 ) How through the revelation of evil that grows and grows that something good will come out of that? It's scrutinized that is bad, it's evil, and there's no way of changing it to something good and it just turns into something grows?
R. There is a possibility that it is written that a hero turns to an enemy to his lover.
S. What is the first action that a person says 99.99%?
R. Recognizing the evil, that is what is harming me. How do I deal with that first of all I remove myself from it,
S. From what?
R. From the evil that I identify.
S.How I'm 99.99% evil? That's who I am.
R. To the same extent that you feel that it harms you, you can move away from it. That's the first thing.
S. What does it mean to distance myself from what I think, from what I feel, the whole essence, it's all evil, how do I move away from that?
R. You come out from that area and you move away from that person, you stop that work, or something. That's the meaning of moving away at least physically. You remove yourself.
S. That's the first action?
R. Yes, that's the first action. Next, you are starting to feel more and more how it fuses and passes through the fusion into just everyday actions and our habits in our brain and your internality, your philosophy and from there you also check and investigate it. Gradually, you begin to work on it. There is more but later.
16. S. (01:36:22) Rabash explains that slander is not an action but in thought. How does a person stop himself from making a correct calculation before such an action? Is there such a way?
R. This is our entire work, to build ourselves before the action only on the decision, we can come to an opposite action in the intention.
S. A person works automatically, how do I stop myself now in order to make that intention?
R. You will work with the inner feeling where you have to be adhered to with the group and the creator. Then you see in this attitude a certain action that you are willing to do in certain actions that you are not willing to do. This way, that way, and so on and so forth.
S. He says here that even when he does not feel, if he has the feeling of the providence of the creator that he is good and benevolent so he doesn't have the feeling of faith. If I had that feeling, what transgression am I doing? What heresy am I doing? How in heresy do I see if that's what I'm feeling?
R. You feel?
S. That's what he writes that the Creator is good and benevolent and that he has no matter of faith. But why did the creator do it so that we see it in faith? This is heresy that I'm not believing in it and that I do not have faith.
R. You have to read this entire thing, I don't understand. If he has a feeling, what can be above it?
S. How do I work not from knowledge but from feeling?
R. When you feel it and you work at a feeling, then you have a big problem to rise above it.
17. S. (01: 39:07) Faith protects the person and differentiates a person from this world in all degrees from reason, below reason, and above reason. How do I strengthen the faith in the friends?
R. Through the exercises the Creator gives you.
S. I still didn't absorb that.
R. You try to awaken the friends, to awaken the friends, I'm out of words.
18. S. (01:40:10) How can we reveal the upper abundance that is concealed from us and draw it into our vessels?
R. That is only through actions by which we wish to come closer to each other and to the Creator. But among all the possible actions, we have such that to bring us closer between us and the group and we want the Creator also to come closer to us and to our connection. Through these actions, we will have revelations.
19. S. (01:41:40) We can say certain words and we can have a different intention, if we say some criticism we might be able to say some criticism, but it is not aimed at some destruction. So how do we construct a correct intention? What intention can we hold all the time so that it won’t turn into slander?
R. The intention that pushes us towards connection is the correct intention. Connection between us and then connection with the Creator, that is the intention we need to develop.
S. He compares slander here to theft and robbery? That it can harm a person?
R. Slander is worse because it has no limitation on distance, it can spread between everyone and everywhere. And other things are more limited in time and in space and in motion.
20. S. (01:43:36) Does the thought of slander grow when we advance with the connection in the ten?
R. Of course, of course slander advances us as well and it somehow needs to be shared between us because before we reach the goal, until we reach it, then a part of us is connected and a part of us is separate. And in this way we have plus and minus and constantly interfering with us, and that's how we advance.
S. How can we, let's say, stay ahead of the thoughts of slander?
R. To increase? Proceed, to proceed thought of the evil inclination and we can do it if we work all the time in what we call Mitzvot/Commandments and connecting us, publicizing it, etc. but nevertheless, slander has to appear, has to create these cracks between us and reveal the places of shattering and separation and conflicts. That’s its job.
21. S. (01:45:39) Slander is a spiritual force. Is that root by the records? That it is the design that are part of the screen that is assigned to strengthen the friends?
R. Yes.
22. S. (01:46:03) How should the Kabbalist behave towards someone determined to harm him?
R. Like any other person, if he wants to harm you, you should harm him first. Silence him in a balanced way but there is no problem if you will perform a certain action against him.
23. S. (01:46:47) What is the difference between slander and judging a person to the scale of demerit?
R. When I judge the friend for his action and I think it is incorrect, this is the meaning of sentencing him to the scale of the demerit. But, slander is something that did not even happen and I speak about him as if it happened and I base my accusations based on that.
S. So in relation to blaming a friend or judging him to a scale of merit, we need to work if we see the friend behaving incorrectly?
R. Yes.
24. S. (01:47:51) The heart of the friend is in the hands of the Creator and if the friend speaks openly upon me slandering against my face, so I scrutinize this in relation to the Creator. Why is the Creator showing me such a thing? And the answer is somehow I will justify the friend and the Creator and such work more towards the Creator right? But in relation to the friend, it is unclear to me how I can cover that. There is a feeling that the Creator gives, this opportunity to rise above it but again if it keeps repeating then it becomes harder and harder to do it so I'm wondering if I'm doing it correctly?
R. The fact that it's becoming more difficult to do is not a problem. The fact that it is taking place in such a way it's the Creator doing it yes. So that you will understand that the Creator is behind everything.
S. Another question about the text. It says that there needs to be faith in the Creator. If a person has a feeling that the providence of the Creator is good and benevolent then he has no place for faith. What does that mean? What next? Meaning a person has this feeling so the person does not have a place for faith, so I feel it, so what is next?
R. Then comes the state of revelation of the Creator. If everything is revealed, why is the Creator concealed after all? I guess it's not enough work.
S. If it's a feeling that there's nothing beside him and he's good, he's good and benevolent, doesn't that mean that he's still concealed?
R. Yes. These are sensations that as I feel it in you it is not faith yet. It is not the feeling of the Creator yet.
25. S. (01:50:24) You said at the beginning of the lesson that we will take from the article how we will serve this article. If we taught this article in schools I'm sure it would be beneficial. Rabash builds his explanation in a gradual way, in a very impressive way. What else can we learn about giving this topic, serving it and explaining it that can help us?
R. To learn that there are more and more internal degrees there and we should come to know them, but for that we have to study each article a few more times. Good luck.
26. S. (01:51:16) Rabash examines here and discerns between who he says slander and who receives the slander. How can we discern between this one who slanders and one who receives the slander? How do we behave in that situation?
R. Simply move away, don't be there. Don't get between them. Show them clearly that you do not wish to hear any slander, all kinds of bad things about a friend.
27. S. (01:52:01)) What is the difference between slender and criticism?
R. Of course, it's a problem. We have to scrutinize it. Slander is when you normally try to harm someone and criticism is when you aren't criticizing a friend, a person, but rather the action itself that is being scrutinized. But we need to make sure that in our business criticism is factual and it is not connected to one person or another and not take into consideration the person behind it but the matter at hand only.
S. To scrutinize it in the group?
R. Yes, of course.
28. S. (01:53:30) I have a feeling that there's a big confusion that I have a big confusion at least between corporality and spirituality as much as I understand from the article. Slander is completely spiritual. It is positioned against and opposite to the Creator which means that in corporeality there's nothing like slander. We can say that right?
R. No. No.
S. Meaning the more a person is spiritually advanced he has greater slander and he feels greater punishment, is that right?
R. Yes.
S. Also there's a thing where the friends asked. There's a difference, there is an article that says that in spirituality, criticism needs to remain because that is our entire progress because in corporeality there's this tendency to unite everything. So how do we differentiate between criticism and slander?
R. How do we differentiate between criticism and slander? That is through scrutiny between the friends and then agreement, nothing more than that really. It is not simple. You have to have a judge here seemingly. You have to get to know the system that will know how to debate such things.
S. And if everything is mixed together and a person needs to exit if he feels slander. So he does not have any clue of what is part of criticism or what is part of slander in that?
R. You need to scrutinize in parts and advance slowly bit by bit.
29. S. (01:56:04) We had an hour of reading which we need to be grateful for first of all. On one hand, a person who is on the path needs to recognize the evil. On the other hand we hear very clearly that it is completely forbidden to use the biggest evil in practice. How can a person who is on the path organize the intention so that as he writes here Rabash: In practice, slander's entire intention is to lower the friend. So how do we become cleansed from that?
R. By thinking more and more about how the purpose of life is our common business. That we have such connection that it passes from life to death, from death to life and that is how we advance until all of us, really all of us are included in the system of Adam HaRishon. Just like before the shattering, the sin of the tree of knowledge. (no translation)
30. S. (01:58:07) It is written that since we are in the corporeal world two systems are with us. The system of Kedusha and the system of impurity and they say that we are between them because of time. I understand that at each second we need to change between the systems, even every half second if possible. Can you expand what is the connection between time and why is it that way?
R. It is not us who are who are running these processes; it is the beginning of creation and the end of creation, they exist. Then they work on us in order to bring us closer from the beginning toward the end. Therefore, we have to see, we have to be clear, to be sensitive to and be prepared for the fact that both the bad things and good things will connect in us- plus and minus from all kinds of areas and domains. And when we take everything and we accept everything as coming from the one Creator, we wish to connect these two phenomena together so that they will complete each other. The minus will complete the plus. But the problem is that there has to be a place that connects them, typically it is the resistance. Then the engine or something like that where the plus and minus can meet and that is what we have to do. This is the same throughout nature and all its details.
S. So time gives us this opportunity to switch between the states?
R. Yes.
31. S. (02:00:18) What is the connection between slander, shame and love?
R. They all belong to the system that we need to scrutinize.
32. S. (02:00:48) Slander that comes in thought to a person it does not express it externally he just thinks something bad about the friend. What should he do with it? He needs to ask the Creator to change my thought because Baal HaSulam writes that all the thoughts come from the above not from a person himself?
R. He asks the Creator for correction to replace, I don’t know if it is worthwhile. Certainly a person thinks about it and says this. He needs correction. It could be that he will need to be in the bad intention for another few days to replace.. I don't know. Let the upper one decide, I just want corrections.
S. He explains that when the person slanders a friend what he gains is that he lowers the friend. That is how a person drives pleasure from it. What about the thought, when it is only in the thought. What is the profit there?
R. That he enjoys.
S. So still he enjoys?
R. Certainly.
33. S. (02:02:23) How can we increase our qualities and find strength to all come and acquire vessels of bestowal?
R. Give correct examples to each other of how to increase correct actions. Give examples to each other. That is all.
34. S. (02:02:55) We know that slander happens in the mouth. But often, it also happens in the head and in the thoughts as the friend has mentioned. Is it correct to say that when we have a bad thought about a friend if I make an action of giving and love towards him, does that cancel that thought about him? I simply think practically how to help myself and the friends when such a thought comes to us?
R. So you make a practical action and see if by doing so you eliminate the bad thought. Good luck.
35. S. (02:03:40) Slander is the last degree of impurity? Or will there be something else discovered?
R. There will be more.
36. S. (02:04:10) Where is slander is not because of some love but because of hate and elsewhere it says the example with the lion and the wolf and the snake, sorry the hate, the pleasure is not from biting but he simply hates. It also says a person does not derive any reward but only something that causes hate among people. The question is that we were created with the will to receive, we have to derive pleasure from everything, so what is hate? It is not part of the will to receive, it is not something the Creator planned from the get go?
R. No. No way. We should never say that the Creator planned the hatred, that we wish to enjoy at the expense of others. So then we reach a state where we love him so much that it eats him.
S. We receive correction from a thing and its opposite, from hate we have to turn to love and the Torah and Mitzvot gives us this ability. So how do we overcome the hate if this is something from which we derive no pleasure? How do we correct it? Of course the Creator, the prayer but through what?
R. We scrutinize hatred from that in which we have no love. Hatred starts from having no love, apathy and indifference. So I disagree with indifference. I have that toward the whole world. Hatred and love, maybe there's a few dozen people that have that in the world corporally, but among the billions I have a completely different calculation with them. That I do not care what happens with them at all. I need to be sensitive to what now happens in China, to some girl or boy there so that I will feel that. How do we do that? I need to be concerned about that. To increase the sensitivity in me towards each and every person in reality. That is done and felt. And then in each and everyone we will open this new broad vessel through which we can see what is the world, where we are. What area we live, what are the souls, the people, the desires, intentions goals are together and how they want to come closer through my impulse to be together in one desire, one intention. To be as one man with one heart, as it is called.
37. S. (02:08:14) When we make an effort to come closer to connect in the tens specifically when we are coming closer we begin to feel the sensation of hate and rejection and maybe even thoughts of slander about the friends. How can we help one another to overcome it? With the help of this power that does not let us cross these boundaries, is that the force of overcoming that we ask the Creator to give us?
R. Yes, but you cannot look at everything neutrally. You need to look at everything through the eyes of love. In the neutral way you will never succeed to see the things that way. A person likes to say that it does not matter to me and I have no personal connection to that. We are against that. We need to love everyone. Afterwards, come to a state where everyone is absolutely at the same degree in relation to our heart.
38. S. (02:10:03) How to correctly respond to slander against our organization or our friend by external factors?
R. I did not understand.
S. How is it correct to respond to slander that comes from external elements from the outside, against our organization, against Rav, against friends, devoted friends of ours?
R. It all depends on the conditions. If there's an opportunity to explain then we need to explain, what is the organization? What is its mission? What is it that we are studying? How do we participate and do things here?
S. Also after the explanation or it is clear who we are and still they come to protest against us and slander?
R. So it depends who. If I'm talking to a person who has intellect, emotion, logic. So, I hope that through my explanation I will balance those things that he has against me. But if his goal is to harm then if I reveal that so from the beginning I have nothing to speak to him about.
S. So how should Kabbalists treat people who rise against them and their daily activities?
R. If there's an opportunity to respond and it will be heard, so we need to respond because we need to examine these things. It is written that there is a Mitzva to explain ourselves. Because we are not just about presenting ourselves as we are correct and everyone else you know the hell with them. But everyone we wish to explain to them what is the wisdom of Kabbalah and what it says about the future, that is that we are coming closer from one day to the next and what does it speak about our times and our days. And that we need to, through this knowledge, balance the entire world. We want everyone in the world to understand where they are developing, what they are doing. Are they ready to understand what is happening to them? Because if they do not know the plan of creation and if they do not know the purpose of creation and development then they do not know what is happening with them. So it could be that the forces of nature in each and every person, psychology and other things are burning in them but they do not know what that burning sensation is.
What is this volcanic feeling within themselves? And according to the wisdom of Kabbalah, there is this deep opinion and method which does not belong to what is taking place today in the world or in the land of Israel, Right , Left all kinds of things. We are not with that. We have nothing of our own. We learn according to the wisdom of Kabbalah. A process, a plan, that the world undergoes and we wish to be according to the forces of nature that develop that we cannot be above them. We can only understand what they do with us and accordingly, what form we should acquire in order to survive and to progress more confidently. That is all. That is what we want to explain. We have no opinion of our own, we have no desire of our own. The wisdom of Kabbalah explains the laws of nature and provides a person advice on how to be close to what nature wants from us.
S. So you would put everything on the action of the explanation?
R. Yes.
S. And if there's no place of explanation they come to protest against you. Why does such a state come to a Kabbalist? What is the Creator trying to teach us?
R. If they would understand us then they would not come to us. They would not come to us.
S. And when they come to you what should be your attitude against those who rise against you?
R. Depends what you mean by rise?
S. They protest.
R. If he's out there on the street and against me and he's shouting some I don't know what. He puts up some flags. I don't know what they come with. Let it be. They think they are world reformers. They think it's correcting the world. I think the world can only be corrected only by actions that correct a person. Let them show me and explain to me through what actions we can correct the person. I do not see in any party group, anything that can correct a person. To corrupt a person, yes, to make them more and more opposed and resisting of each other.
S. I will ask generally. What is your opinion about the demonstrations that are taking place in Israel the last few months? It's a question that bothers a lot of friends.
R. I don't hear them. I don't see them but I understand, more or less, their character. I do not get into why such and such parties is one way and the other is not. It seems to me that as usual in these actions we will reach nothing. Nothing. I am against Civil War for sure. I think that these things need to stop as quickly as possible.
S. Our organization is apolitical. It engages in connecting the hearts above all opinions. But you have many students who support the right, those support the left, even in the same ten you will find friends on all sides.
R. We support unity of everyone above all the difference. You can be with all kinds of thoughts of one way or another, but by saying that I support the unity, that is what we say.
S. Even in the ten, one friend is the right wing and the other is left. How to look at it? Like food taste? He likes to eat this, I like to eat that.
R. I don't know, I'm looking at you, what there are 400 people here? I do not know who is right or who is left and who is in the middle there. If the person does not mention it then I don't know if he does not ask, it doesn’t matter to me. With me he needs to be connected to just one thing. We need to reach the purpose of creation: the purpose of human development which is in the connection of everyone above differences despite the differences including these differences of right and left etc. and above that we have a greater thing, unity between us among everyone and with the entire world.
S. Is there room to talk about political topics among people in the ten?
R. I don't think so, I'm against that. Why? Because it does not seem to me it is significant that it reaches any conclusion of solutions. If you want to work and to receive a payment which is certain, so enter one of these parties and do whatever you need to do there. I do not think that there are in this political processes there's any content. Content meaning true content that brings Humanity to something that it needs to reach. The problem is that we are under the forces of nature and we do not understand what is the purpose of nature. That nature has a goal, and nature develops, taking us in it and whether or not we want it we need to develop.
S. About the topic that friends were asking, he says that he comes to kill you, you should kill him first, maybe not literally but if someone comes to demonstrate against you, protest you, you need to work against him in what way?
R. What will I get from that if I demonstrate towards someone else so there will be two sides protesting against each other? What can we do? I think that if we enter into a connection with someone who is protesting, so he needs to know who is coming to protest against, who is he protesting with.. but that is not in their goals. So it is not worthwhile for us to go out and to make an explanation because they don’t need an explanation they need as much noise as possible to get as much money out of that as possible and get headlines.
S. What about the demonstrating power so they won’t deal with you?
R. They are not afraid of power. Even if they bring out a whole army, on the contrary if they stand beside the whole Army and protest then they will show themselves as powerful, that they will get money, honor, power. They will get salaries.
S. What is the opposite approach and giving food and water that too?
R. You want to say that you're coming close to them.
S. Food from good?
R. Coming nicely does not mean not anything. We are also not coming badly. I don’t think we need to be in any contact with them. Neutral like a wall. That is all. You want to do your work, you understand what you're doing. Some of you get nice salaries. Some of you dream about nice salaries after the elections or whatever. Some of you believe that through that you can change the nation, the state. Go for it. We didn’t ever see that anything good comes out of that, but on the contrary we see that something bad happens just like in Russia, right? And in many other places. This is not the way of correction. We hold in our hands the writings of Kabbalists and we learn from that. That only through a person's education can we correct the world. And how do we correct the person? We learn in the writings of Kabbalah in a complete way because there it is written how the person was created and what desires inclinations and how we can balance those forces and reach a perfect world.
39. S. (02:25:35) Yesterday we have a Tens gathering and we spoke about state and how to relate to it, then friends reminded us that a few years ago you that you said the the people of Israel will come to you and surrender in this building and siege the building and you will be inside and they will demand that you will do your work?
R. Yes.
S. Suddenly we see that the things are starting to come true. People come and protest?
R. What is the big deal?
S. First of all it is amazing to see that these things that you say are the time that looks so far fetched or taking place simply before our eyes. The question is what should be in because it is clear that the person that you describe is coming true. What should be our inner attitude towards what is happening? The inner attitude?
R. We need to be happy that there are changes. We hope that through the changes of these external ones towards the nation including all the parties and also through our explanation which increases more and more. That explanation includes these events that they want to do upon us, which will also help us to become more well known and to speak more. I think that for that purpose they needed to print some flyers with our principles with our explanations with our sources. Not much, one flier is enough, and to give it out among them, and that’s all. That is what we need to do. to at least explain to them who we are and what our mission.
S. At the time when you spoke about how they will come and surround them you said that they will come and demand from us that we bring the medicine to the people?
R. You don't give medicine to these things?
S. That is clear. The process is here, do not demand medication. But they do argue that we should stop attacking people.
R. That is why we need to print our principles and to disseminate that.
S. That is as far as the attitude towards them but between us how should we behave so that we will be able to tell ourselves to feel that we are not sabotaging the people, we are giving them a remedy to the people?
R. Explain it there on the same page.
S. I'm not asking about the explanation of the externals but about between ourselves?
R. Those among us will also understand what is happening to us from that page they will understand through the end as well.
40. S. (02:29:49) There are external and internal actions. External dissemination and so on. We also learn about the perception of reality, what is happening on the outside is happening between us. The Ten is a small world, so what do we have to do because we see a reflection in the state between us?
R. e need to print out a flier on which we speak about ourselves, who we are, what we are, what we are aimed at.
S. This pressure has to go to my friends?
R.This one has to be on the outside and people on the inside.
S. I'm talking about the people inside.
R. Those that are on the outside.
S. I write a letter to them
R. Not a letter, but a flier.
S. I create a flier for those next to me?
R. Not to those who are near you but to do all of those who think differently of what I said.
