Part 1: Rabash. Article No. 19, 1986. Concerning Joy

Reader: Hello, we will study from the book, “The Writings of Rabash.” We're going to be reading the article, “Concerning Joy” by Rabash. You can ask questions in the Arvut system, and also on kabbalahgroup.info, on Sviva Tova. If you're in the study hall we ask you to stand up, hold the mic close to your mouth, and say your question loudly and clearly. Now we're reading the article “Concerning Joy” by Rabash, and before we start, Friend please.

Organizer: After we finished the series of articles about Rabash by Rabash, we're starting a new series of articles by Rabash on the topic of Purim, on the occasion of Purim that's coming at the end of the week.

So we're going to study the article “Concerning Joy,” and also tomorrow and the rest of the days until Monday, we will study articles about Purim. We'll study them in the first part of the lesson, meaning the day earlier when we're preparing in Tens, we will dedicate time to studying the articles of Rabash in terms of everything related to Purim, and then on the 23rd of March, we're having a special unity day, World Unity Day for Purim, on the topic of increasing joy. So, all the topics we're reading now are going to be preparing us for our very special gathering then. Thank you.

Reader: (01:44) Rabash. Article No. 19, 1986. Concerning Joy. “The Mishnah says…"

Student: (56:32) What is this state called the month of Adar, and the state which is called the month of Av

M. Laitman: There is a year, a cycle, and in that cycle we have twelve months. In each month we have a different, as if, behavior of the Creator with the created beings.

Student: What is a year in spirituality?

M. Laitman: Because we want to connect to the Creator we have to see in what month, meaning in what system of connection we are with the Creator. Now he will explain to us that we have a specific system of connection with the Creator called the month of Av, for instance, and so on in every month, the month of the Exodus from Egypt and so on. Yes, what did you want to ask then?

Student: I’m not speaking about the month of the calendar year of the planet, but what is this state called the month of Av

M. Laitman: This doesn't have to do with the cycle of the year. It's not that these cycles operate the forces of nature. The other way around, the forces of nature come and as if turn the wheels, and we are already inside those wheels. Therefore, we should know and use those forces that in relation to the forces that we are in, in some states a month.

Student: When a person is in that state of Adar, then there is work that he needs to work on, gratitude or does it just come to him that way, that state enters him?

M. Laitman: No, it's preferable to have something that's also relevant to the same month, desirably. It's even written that it's desirable to have joys in certain dates, seemingly, and sorrow in other more suitable times.

Student: I'm putting the planet aside. I'm not speaking about that at all.  But I understand that there is this orbit, you could say, that a person is in, in spirituality, in these forces, where he says that now I'm in the month of Av, or now I'm in the month of Adar

M. Laitman: What do you mean?

Student: What he depicts here.

M. Laitman: That you have a specific, unique connection with the Creator. Each month of the twelve months of the year, you have a specific, certain kind of connection with the Creator. We learn from here in what month we want to do certain actions, certain deeds we should stay away from or get closer to, and then we can more accurately follow the will of the Creator and advance towards the purpose of creation.

Student: When you say every month we have a special connection with the Creator, what do you mean by month?

M. Laitman: Month, I mean the astronomical month, this turning of the moon with respect to planet Earth.

Student: Okay, so we shouldn't deny that or get at that.

M. Laitman: No, we can't come out of that, because we lack some spaces or discernments that we can attach ourselves to. That's why we're speaking of the months.

Student: Let's say now is the month of Adar, so there will be Purim. And now this big criticism comes to a person that is in a state where we don't need to depict it. He's in a big criticism, so what should he say to himself?

M. Laitman: He should accept that this is what happens to him in Purim, so what, in the month of Adar?

Student: It's written here that he needs to be in…?

M. Laitman: No, it's not black and white. No, there are different states and different people going through different states. We already experienced very horrible states during the month of Adar in history, so what? It doesn't mean that everything just goes into calmness and now there's a pause in wars or some other historical conditions.

Student: Yes, but there needed to be a special attitude of a person to reality, to the friends?

M. Laitman: If we want to tie ourselves to the general Upper reality, then we can use forces that awaken in the month of Adar and use them to our advantage.

Student: How?

M. Laitman: What do you mean how? It's by turning to the Creator and demanding from Him to bring us closer to that month of Adar, showing us what forces we can already use of the month of Adar and so forth.

Student: Meaning what we're studying here is that there is an opportunity to turn to the Creator to teach us what is this thing of the month of Adar

M. Laitman: Correct.

Student: (01:03:23)  Page 277, it is written, and in that we need to understand what we asked, what the sages said, that when the month of Adar enters, we increase joy. They asked, what does it mean to increase joy? That joy is the result of some cause and what is the cause, the reason that can awaken? The reason that will bring us joy. The question is, what does it mean to awaken the reason for joy?

M. Laitman: Well, we need to get to joy through a reason. What's the reason that leads us to joy? Okay, so what should it be, what do you think?

Student: We always want to adhere to the Creator, that He is the Good And Does Good.

M. Laitman: To have connection with the Creator, and by getting closer to the Creator, we'll have more and more joy.

Student: What does it mean to come closer to the Creator?

M. Laitman: Equivalence of form, Mitzvot, that we have to do and so forth. There are special conditions in the month of Adar.

Student: With the Creator we work through others, we don't have another place, right? There's a correction in the relations?

M. Laitman: Yes, typically, yes.

Student: What the friend tried to say is, how do we shift from criticism to joy?

M. Laitman: That through criticism we come to the state of who are we in contact with, how can we get closer to Him, to the determining force, and out of that we have joy.

Student: (01:05:38) In the month of Av, should we turn less to the Creator and think less about the reasons?

M. Laitman: No, actually even more. That is the month where we can scrutinize a lot of things.

Student: What comes out of that, what's the difference in the work of a person, where according to the advice that the sages give here, that in Adar we need to increase joy, and in Av we need to diminish. How does a person observe that? The work is always the same work, to turn to the Creator and to receive from Him.

M. Laitman: That you can see according to the code of laws, all the customs and what we're supposed to follow in all these months.

Student: Here in the beginning of the article, Rabash speaks about the work of a person, how he can receive joy, where even in the small amount that he does in spirituality, and from that..?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: The work that we do, we can reach a good feeling toward the Creator in that a person comes to a lesson or does something small, but with us in the work, we need to reach Arvut, between friends. A person cannot make a calculation between himself and the Creator, he needs to make a calculation between all the needs of the friends among him. Here there could be a confusion, or this great opposition, resistance, in this part of the work. How can we work with that thing that we need to be content with little, on one hand and on the other hand, not in relation to what he feels, but in relation to what the friends feel, that he needs to fulfill them. Here he needs to do everything, limitlessly.

M. Laitman: He has to devote himself to the friends and be a servant to their desire to receive, only in order to bring them to the Creator and to be involved with them in that, to the extent that he succeeds in that, bringing them closer to the Creator, he sees himself happy, in joy.

Student: That is clear. But the friends shouldn't be content with that. They should have this deficiency. We see in our work in the Ten, one can feel that he is doing enough, and the others will feel that he is not doing anything, or nearly nothing, which is a problem because the person, in relation to himself, can say that I did, I feel good in what I did, I did succeed to do something, and he is confident that he is on the path. On the other hand, who determines, truly, the path of the person?

M. Laitman: If a person can, every day, want to connect the friends, and push them in their connection towards the Creator, to connect with the Creator, then he should be only getting good responses.

Student: Meaning, he should feel from his Ten that he is doing good work, but he needs to judge it in relation to what the Ten lets him feel, and not what he feels by himself.

M. Laitman: I think it's enough for him to feel how he transmits to them the influence of the Creator and how they respond to it, and they all unite together and he feels himself as the cause for it and how he advances with them towards the Creator.

Student: It's written here about the light of the end of correction, whether a person can draw the light of the end of correction before he's in the end of correction, that this is the opportunity to draw that light.

M. Laitman: An illumination can be drawn, yes. VAK.

Student: What's the difference between that illumination and the illumination of Shabbat

M. Laitman: That's according to the nature of these states. The illumination of Shabbat comes from awakening the vessels that are already in connection between them and they come to a complete connection between them. The light of the final correction is received, although from the same state but it's according to what state they're in. The light of Shabbat doesn't depend on what their state is. The light of the final correction depends on their state with respect to the final correction.

Student: (01:11:27) At the beginning of the article, Rabash explains how much he needs to see the truth, how much he needs to reach a big deficiency that is empty, that there's no Kedusha there, and that he doesn't want to just do that as lip service but that the size of the request and of the gratitude, that he needs to feel that on himself. He cannot just say that with his mouth, that it's lip service. In continuation, he's always depicting this state where the person needs to depict it to himself, as if he's standing before a great King, and as if he has the feeling of wholeness. On one hand, he says that he needs to, with all of his bones, to feel that this is the truth and on the other hand, he should paint a picture that he's not in?

M. Laitman: Yes, and what? Both this and that have a place.

Student: The person needs to, the size of the gratitude is according to the amount of greatness of the Creator he has, Who I'm working for and Whose Torah I'm keeping, but he never really receives the Creator in his own Kelim, it's always above reason.

M. Laitman: Of course, that is the case.

Student: How can he reach such a state, there is this situation where he can't do that?

M. Laitman: Each time he works on what he receives, that's it. Each time he advances and receives an illumination from the Creator that's more and more powerful, and he sees himself moving closer and closer, what are those last complete stages? We don't know.

M. Laitman: He constantly remains in the, as if, or in the end, is it?

M. Laitman: I don't know. I'm not at the end. I can't tell you.

Student: Well, not in the end, but along the way, he'll constantly be as if he's standing before a great King, or in the end, should he aspire to feel it in his bones, or is it always, like it always stays in as if?

M. Laitman: I think he will discover the King himself. Yes.

Student: (01:14:02) He writes, “This month is capable for a person to judge the foreigner within him, and he will succeed in inverting it.” What is this about this month that a person can judge the foreigner within him? The foreigner within him, first of all, is the body that objects to bestowal, if I understand correctly.

M. Laitman: Yes. Every month or every state where seemingly Earth goes through states, then in every single state you have a special force that's operating in reality, in the universe, seemingly, and we want to connect those forces which are active in the universe at that time and see how by them we can rise even more towards the Creator.

Student: That depends on the level of revealing the foreigner within us?

M. Laitman: Also, well yes and no.

Student: The question is this. It sounds like an advice that Rabash is given us. It seems like these are special days that were made. Should we look for the foreigner within us or is it only engagement in the left and we should constantly shift toward joy and criticism toward the bad in us?

M. Laitman: We didn't begin reaching that yet.

Student: We haven't started. Okay. I'll ask about the beginning. He writes that when the lower ones engage in joy, in the same way they draw the light of joy downward and the month that turns from grief to joy and from morning to a good day become a feast. How do we make these days days of feast? What can we add?

M. Laitman: More and more talk and integrate from those states that the Creator does that were shown that happened during the month of Adar and that we also need to raise ourselves to at least somewhat to such states.

Student: (01:17:15) A question about the opposites that raise a person. Rabash writes, it is written, you will bring him. Sorry, it is another excerpt. They said about it, he is forced until he says, I want. Meaning that it follows the rule that one should always engage. Sorry, again, wrong paragraph. Our sages wrote that everything he does in relation to bringing himself closer to the Creator, the act is not considered an act if he does not want to do it for the sake of the Creator, which is called according to the will of the Creator. But that person is still unable to perform actions that will be for the sake of the Creator, meaning that there is no value to his actions. As if he did not do anything because he is still not pleasing to the Creator and precisely because we do good deeds, by this we rise. Can we say it?

M. Laitman: According to what we do.

Student: He writes that we have no access to acts of bestowal, none.

M. Laitman: That's correct, but the Creator gave us certain conditions, and if you use them, then you do enter the system of bestowal.

Student: Precisely the gap of not being able to do, and yet I do, this brings me closer?

M. Laitman: Yes. Let's say that it's that.

Student: It's like I have faith in the sages, they tell me to do, and..?

M. Laitman: Yes. Yes. More.

Student: (01:19:25) He writes that we have to begin with practical commandments which is Lo Lishma, not for her sake, and from there we'll get to Lishma, for her sake. What does he mean by practical commandments?

M. Laitman: In all kinds of Mitzvot that are written in the Shulchan Aruch, in the set table.

Student: What are practical commandments?

M. Laitman: Ones that you can do in action, in speech, and with our hands, like that.

Student: Even if we don't have the intention, we should do them as they are written?

M. Laitman: Yes, yes. Even in such a way to the extent to which they bring a person closer to His essence, to his purpose.

Student: Does it also pertain to personal work, or also in the Ten?

M. Laitman: No, no, it's usually personal work.

Student: (01:20:27) He says received and did, a person received an illumination from above. He says about this illumination from above that the smallest light in Nefesh de Assiya is greater than all the pleasures in this world but on the month of Adar, we shouldn't be content with little, but we should ask for a great illumination. What is, for a person, a small illumination? What is a big illumination? How are there changes in the light? If the first light is already beyond all the pleasures of this world, how does a person ask for a great illumination?

M. Laitman: How do you have NRNHY? Wouldn't you ask that? Is the light NRNHY? Yes? Light is light, there's no more, there's no less. That's it, there's one. No?

Student: What does it mean that a person suddenly says about the infinity that he has, that it's small? What causes him to say about the illumination he received, which until now he was taught to be content with little and be happy with it? Suddenly it becomes too small, and he has to ask for more on the month of Adar.

M. Laitman: I don't know. You know, I read it, and it's written like that. When we get there, we'll understand what's written. There are many things that we learn that it's written that way.

Student: (01: 22:16) What we are studying in these days has very powerful illumination. It's a special opportunity for us, and as one of the friends asked not long ago, we have to depict the picture we want, and by this we draw this light.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: My question is, what do we need to depict? We're talking about connection, love, bestowal. What should we depict in this specific time so we draw as much powerful light as possible?

M. Laitman: We need to depict to ourselves that we can receive from above such an illumination that will influence all our actions, and from this we will come closer to the Creator in equivalence of form because actions in order to bestow are what will bring us closer to Him, to the Upper force, and this is how we will come nearer, more and more.

Student: He says that in this time we have to say thank you with all our organs. What is to be grateful with all our organs?

M. Laitman: That in all our 613 organs we want to observe the commandments of the Creator.

Student: Simcha. My final question, real joy. Is it according to the deficiency you're in, or is it beyond it? When you're building the deficiency yourself, we build a connection between us, and you see the results, and that's the real joy?

M. Laitman: No, there can't be joy from a deficiency. Joy can be from correction and filling of the deficiency.

Student: Yes, that's what I meant. Maybe I didn't explain myself.

M. Laitman: That's it. Yes, that's how we try to do, to prepare ourselves.

Student: (01:24:29) He says here that when a person takes upon himself to do the commandments of the Creator, he has to check that he's not deceiving himself. How does he work in such a way that he manages to see that he's not deceiving, because afterwards he says, okay, it's a work not for our sake as well, but because in the shell I can deceive myself the most.

M. Laitman: These are special relations between a person and the Creator, where the Creator tells him, opens up for him, the causes for the actions of Lo Lishma. Then the person sees how he was in them.

Student: Then he might come to a state where he receives some light into the shells and he tells himself..?

M. Laitman: No, no, no, no, no. It's not that I say that that's how it happens. Don't accept it immediately in your direction.

Question (Belarus): (01:25:51) How to distinguish between spiritual joy and joy of the will to receive?

M. Laitman: It depends what I'm happy from, and who it is that I'm passing this joy to. If it's in order to bestow, then I want to bestow my internal state outwards towards everyone, until it comes to the Creator.

Question (Asia): (01:26:29) Is joy from the connection of the Creator with his creations?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Women Turkiye 8): (01:26:38) How can we divide, how can we share the joy that the Creator has given us?

M. Laitman: Joy cannot be divided like, it can't be sliced up like a cake, where you give it out and nothing remains for you. On the contrary, the more you give out that joy, and people enter into it, everyone feels there's this impression, this eruption of joy and this is how it happens.

Student: (Latin 4): (01:27:14) What does it mean that the minute the Jews control their enemies, that's the right time to judge the foreigner within us?

M. Laitman: We will learn that. It's not simple. There are such times.

Question (Belarus): (01:27:36) How to increase the joy in a Ten?

M. Laitman: We need to talk with one another, to share things that raise our world upwards. We need to talk about our future states, the end of correction that we are coming closer to, and that there is nothing bad in us, seemingly, but only good. As good and mercy will come after me all the days of my life, will follow me, and it impacts everyone.

Question (Women Rehovot): (01:28:28) It is written joys and songs and phrases, we see that. What is the meaning of the order of praise and sings and joys?

M. Laitman: There is an order in this, but that's not quite important to us right now. We just need to recognize at this point what states we're in, who we depend upon, who we can impact, what forces, systems, and until we get there, we will know it all.

Student: (01:29:11) We have many friends. Some friends have been with you on the path for thirty years. I'm asking this because, lately, in your answers, I'm hearing, and also I read in Rabash there's this thing called Shulchan Aruch, the set table, which is the book of Jewish laws. Now, the veteran friends started from a state where I suppose they knew what this set table, this book was, and gradually we evolved into disseminating spirituality. Today, when you send us to understand these words in the book Shulchan Aruch, I can't open the book by myself, and I don't have the environment that will help me in this, and I'm asking for help. If this is something that is the basis of my spiritual work; I want to go on the path of truth. If it's not, then it's not. But if it is, I need help.

M. Laitman: We will think about this.

Student: What do you mean, we'll think? It's the third time I've been asking, and the third time you tell me, we'll think. There's nothing I can do with it. What am I supposed to do? I can't suddenly change my way of life. I need an environment. I need help. I need to be taught. I'm not going to go elsewhere and learn what is Shulchan Aruch.

M. Laitman: Buy a book called Shulchan Aruch.

Student: I have it.

M. Laitman: You have it. Did you open it? Did you open it or not?

Student: I did. Of course I did.

M. Laitman: Did you start reading it?

Student: Of course. I know what it is.

M. Laitman: When you read, does it awaken you to do something with this book?

Student: No. It awakens objection in me, resistance.

M. Laitman: That's clear, because it says there what you have to do.

Student: Right. Exactly.

M. Laitman: It's heavy for the body so what would you recommend to do? What do you think to do with it?

Student: I feel if it's something that is necessary, a necessary basis for the work, I need help to overcome this resistance because I'm facing it alone.

M. Laitman: What do you think, that you need to work now between the friends and to convince them to sit with you and to study the Shulchan Aruch?

Student: I don't know what I need to do. I'm just saying that from what I got here, I didn't get importance for this thing. Suddenly in the last few months, I see that it's important according to your answers. Then I approach this and I discover as Rabash writes, that the body objects. I'm saying, wow, it's real, that the body does object to it.

M. Laitman: There are a number of actions called practical commandments, practical Mitzvot, that we need to perform with the body.

Student: What are they?

M. Laitman: I don't know. We have to see it in Shulchan Aruch.

Student: There are plenty.

M. Laitman: There are plenty? How many do you have in your life? I don't think more than twenty.

Student: I will do anything that's needed. I'm just saying I need help.

M. Laitman: Nice.

Student: How do I, after I've gotten used to a certain routine and I perceive spirituality in life in some way, have to add an element that is difficult for me? I can't. I need help.

M. Laitman: We need to do. When we were with Rabash, we had like an extracurricular thing. I think it was a certain guy, like a class. He would give the lesson on that. Very simple. We would sit and read. There's nothing there that you need to really ask about.

Student: I know. I just need an environment, if it's important. I see pictures of our friends from thirty years ago. Friends are here. They're the foundations of our society. And I see, according to the pictures, that they have this foundation. They know it. They understand. I feel that I am lacking something.

M. Laitman: That comes gradually, but not in a desirable form. We need to hasten it. Start. Start organizing the society of men who want to gather in the evening and to learn a short version of Shulchan Aruch.

Student: I don't know if it's necessary.

M. Laitman: It's necessary.

Student: (01:34:27) About Shulchan Aruch, or whatever the friend says. I want to understand, normally we say that you can't understand one word from what is written about this world, and now it sounds to me like you're saying the opposite, that what you're saying, Shulchan Aruch does tell you what to do in this world, in corporeality. I want to understand it.

M. Laitman: I also don't understand what you're saying.

Student: Okay, normally in Kabbalah we say, there's not a word that's written about this world, corporeality.

M. Laitman: How could it be if we're talking about the vessels and all kinds of things that we use in this world?

Student: Yes, my question is, when is what is written talks about spirituality, and when does it talk about something like as it is in Shulchan Aruch

M. Laitman: Yes and yes.

Student: How do I know if I read Shulchan Aruch, what should I do in this world, and what of it speaks only about spirituality?

M. Laitman: You'll gradually start to understand.

Student: Why don't we learn it in the lesson, if it's so important, the Shulchan Aruch and there are things in corporeality that we have to do, because it's not clear to anyone?

M. Laitman: I really don't know what to answer. Probably people who come here are also read somewhat, or at least kind of look through it, this book.

Student: I didn't understand what you said now. Okay. Another question. I'm not exactly sure how it's written in Hebrew. What does it mean that sin becomes a mistake?

M. Laitman: Sins becoming merits?

Student: What does it mean? I don't know.

M. Laitman: We will learn that.

Student: What is a mistake, according to Kabbalah? Right. What are mistakes? What are sins? How do they become inverted into good?

M. Laitman: There are ways where a person can be mistaken, and it could be not in the intention and there's such cases in which he makes this mistake, where it's not a mistake, but it's like it's purposely done as an actual transgression that is done with good intent.

Student: A mistake, does that mean that there are times when I have to say, it's not the Creator who did this, it was me, or do I always have to say, it's the Creator's doing? What I did is the Creator's doing.

M. Laitman: You did it, but you didn't know that it's prohibited. Therefore, there's a different attitude towards it, just like with a baby. What he does, we don't look at it as in a way of, like we look at it for adults, at one another. But for him, it's allowed, because he doesn't understand, he doesn't know.

Student: If you do know that it's forbidden, and you did it, is this also the Creator's doing, or is it your doing?

M. Laitman: If you know that you're doing it, and it's prohibited, then it's probably you who did it.

Student: There are times when I shouldn't say There's None Else Besides Him about what happened?

M. Laitman: None Else Besides Him, we say about all that happens in the world altogether, that it is all under the force of the Creator, and below that, we can say there's the Creator, the created beings, and there are such relations between them, this way and that way.

Student: What I'm trying to ask is, how not to be a fool who consumes his own flesh? How not to be this? Like that?

M. Laitman: How not be that? We need to sit and learn. To sit and study. That's it. I have nothing else to say. Also, “The Study of The Ten Sefirot,” and all the things that we study. We need to learn because eventually it all connects to one system. It seems to us that this doesn't belong to this, and this doesn't belong to that but when we look at all these things together, we say that it all is associated with what the Creator did, and we are under His power, and we need to know what to do.

Student: (01:40:43) Yesterday our Ten was on duty in preparation for the Unity Day. We were working with a certain friend. She asked me to ask you a question.

M. Laitman: A woman friend?

Student: Yes, a woman friend. We were working together, and she asked me to ask you. It really hurt her. She was in pain, so I felt. She's asking, where is the joy on the path? I can't find it. How do I feel joy on the path?

M. Laitman: We talk a lot about that. I have nothing to answer her.

Student: Yes, we say that joy is a result of good deeds, but how can we feel it along the way? Let's say now I have to be on duty. They come to me and they tell me, you have a duty, and I feel distressed.

M. Laitman: What is the purpose of creation? What form does all of creation have in the end?

Student: For the Creator and the created beings, for them to feel His benefit.

M. Laitman: Let's say, so am I coming closer to that? Am I going according to that? What if it's a million miles away from where I am? Or am I making a few meters of coming closer?

Student: Yes.

M. Laitman: If I'm coming closer, then I need to be in joy.

Student: When I want to feel joy from every step I take, what do I need to do? I don't want to feel pressure, they tell me to do this and that, I don't want to feel this pressure.

M. Laitman: I want to say thank you to the Creator for sending us through all kinds of people, probably, yes, that are telling you that you need to do, through these messengers, that through these actions I will be coming closer to Him.

Student: I should just delve into that thought and that's the source of joy?

M. Laitman: There needs to be joy in this because through these deeds I truly come closer to Him.

Student: (01:43:14) As you said now, when he approaches even a few feet, in the beginning of the article he said that the very thought and desire to serve the Creator should give him joy, even if his intentions are the worst. That's the state of Katnut, right, smallness or infancy?

M. Laitman: Let's say.

Student: In Purim we have to be in Gadlut, in greatness or adulthood, no?

M. Laitman: What does it mean that we need to be?

Student: Well, it's written, for preparation for such a great light, there should be joy, we should increase joy, feast, enjoy, it all sounds like..?

M. Laitman: So what, Purim comes that you're calling about this, and it's written on the wall, on your calendar, and from that day onwards you're entering into joy?

Student: That's my question.

M. Laitman: I have no answer to that.

Student: What is the joy? What is increasing joy? He's describing a process and we said that they're describing the future state, everything is on the right line, from this we get into great joy. What is this trick?

M. Laitman: This is how this trick works, because there's such words in Hebrew, you know, beat it with something, and I have nothing to explain here. We increase the joy.

Student: The work is only on the right line, as described here?

M. Laitman: The work on the right.

Student: We always learn that in order to increase the right we need coarseness, we need the left line. Otherwise, how can you increase it?

M. Laitman: I don't know. I guess we need the coarseness also, left line.

Student: I'm asking. I'm asking.

M. Laitman: I don't know.  I'm telling you what needs to be.

Student: What should be in the end, at the bottom line? Should I depict this final state at the end of correction?

M. Laitman: We need to prepare ourselves for joy, and to go through the whole month of Purim this way.

Student: (01:45:25) Perhaps if so, we can study. When you were with Rabash, with special, a different order of work, or special events, things that happened with Rabash, specifically on this month, in order to understand what it means to increase in joy. Did you do something special, something different?

M. Laitman: During the times of Purim, with Rabash, there was one special evening. Maybe you saw some clips, movies in the time? We were in that. Rabash would be very concerned that would be such a joyous time like that. It was like from 4 or 5 p.m. until 1, 2 a.m. That's what he, It's like until the soul emerges out. It's until you can't take it. That's it. We wouldn't be bringing one another gifts or something. He'd bring it to the table, to Rabash. That's it. I would usually bring one of these big, tall bottles of whiskey. I don't know what you call it, a little whiskey, but just very big. Kind of like I think they also, they sell them.

Student: You would bring this bottle to Rabash?

M. Laitman: No, I brought it to the table, but seemingly it's to..

Student: Beyond that event on Purim, was there something else that was apparent with Rabash during this month that you could feel some difference?

M. Laitman: No. No.

Student: (01:48:06) He writes here that a person should try to give contentment to the Creator more and more every time. With what actions?

M. Laitman: With what actions? Whatever is possible. What's possible? What does the Creator need for us to do for Him? Only to raise vessels of bestowal towards Him, so that He will be able to bestow in them. That is their pleasure, that He fills our vessels and He has pleasure from that.

Student: (01:48:56) On the topic of Shulchan Aruch, the book of Jewish laws that we keep in physicality, in the physical world. There are many rules in it. A small advice.  Let's say we do want to do it. What's important to take from it, because we have no grip on it, if we start opening the book now, we could be lost in there with all the things we need to do? Are there certain things we need focus on?

M. Laitman: I don't think you can get lost there. If you go to take out of there like judgments and rules for your daily existence, for yourself.

Student: What are the main rules for the daily life for yourself?

M. Laitman: Let's take the regular things that have to do with the circumcision, for weddings, for births, for all kinds of things, you know. What remains is not a lot, if you take those things out. Not a lot. To learn how to wash your hands before the meal, how to do certain major blessings, and, I don't know, who here could teach you?

M. Laitman: The friend is meticulous. He is, he deepens this, but it's good. It could be that it's good. In short, choose.

Student: (01:50:56) In the World Kli, around the world, they didn't hear about this book. It is certainly not translated into seventy languages.

M. Laitman: Okay, you engage in that in the evening here, a certain day, and that's it.

Student: For yourselves.

M. Laitman: Not for the whole World Kli; whoever is in Israel.

Student: (01:51:43) Concerning the two opposites, joy and wholeness and the deficiency. Every time it's new, it's hard to reconcile it. We say a person has to pray. I wish he prayed all day, as if all day I have to be in a deficiency.

M. Laitman: Therefore, Whom am I asking for, Who do I want to be connected with?

M. Laitman: Well?

Student: Exactly that because he says here, there's no way to do it together. You can do it at two times. When you feel joy and greatness or deficiency and wholeness, but not together. Together, connecting these two opposites, is it an aspiration that can't be achieved, or does this thing have to happen in practice in a person's work?

M. Laitman: Why can't we connect between them? Because they cancel one another?

Student: Yes, until the middle line comes.

M. Laitman: So there, so here, I need to ask, whether it's possible to nevertheless be also with the yearning and also be in joy and also be in sadness together?

Student: Is it possible?

M. Laitman: We see that sometimes it is, this is something that really awakens a person and truly shakes him up.

Student: When there are dramatic states in a person's life, maybe he has a sick child or something dramatic at home, something very, it shakes him up. So, it's possible to understand that it's good. A person's already experienced, they can understand and see the process and maybe come out of himself but the feeling is still not good. It's not clear.

M. Laitman: The question is whether he has a connection with the Creator from this. If he has a connection from it, then this covers everything.

Student: How to work correctly? How does one know how to advance correctly in the process of trying to combine these two extremes? How does he work? With some people who have more of a tendency toward the right, to gratitude, some have more tendency toward the criticism. Should I kind of strengthen the line that is opposite from my nature, do I learn from what I'm experiencing, how do I work?

M. Laitman: In everything, in everything, you yourself didn't yet feel, since you're asking this way, what does it mean to incorporate? To incorporate means that everything you look at, you see, this may be left, but I reach this left through the right, and I need to include the right from there, and also not the distance from the left, and all kinds of such, it's all eventually coming to the middle line. Everything comes to the middle line.

Student: That's a little clearer, thank you. Is this the hastening of time, the frequency is what matters?

M. Laitman: The frequency is very important.

Student: A person has to constantly be in wholeness and gratitude and at the same time deficiency and asking all the time, so one nourishes the other?

M. Laitman: Yes, I have a question about the month of Adar, and on the calendar that we talked about. Rabash points out that the special thing about it is that there's a miracle here, a great miracle that was inverted, the thing is that the following month, because Adar is the final month in the calendar, and the first month is Passover, so there's also a miracle there. There's a miracle here, and a miracle there. What is the connection between them? What is this inversion that prepares us for the Exodus from Egypt?

M. Laitman: We have the miracle of Hanukkah, the miracle of Purim, and what other miracles?

Student: The miracle of the Exodus from Egypt, Passover.

M. Laitman: You see, we're constantly living from miracle to miracle.

Student: What is this inversion on the month of Adar? How do we describe it in the inner work, in the personal spiritual development? It's like the embryo being inverted and is ready to emerge in the Exodus from Egypt, not at the end of correction. What is it now?

M. Laitman: Passover is like a new birth, yeah.

Student: That's Passover. But what is the inversion that happens on the month of Adar before Passover?

M. Laitman: That in such a way, he prepares himself, the embryo, the person, as he's preparing himself for the Exodus from Egypt, then this is what inverts in them. All the definitions of what is good and what is bad and how to make it in order to bestow, in order to receive, all those things get inverted. We will talk. We will talk.

Student: (01:57:58) A little perplexity here. I'm studying for sixteen years, plus or minus. Never, until today, I didn't hear that I need to add or to adopt into my life other traditions than those that I do in my daily life. From the very beginning of the path, it was very, very clear. Also, when I gave classes in campus, it was clear that you don't change anything external in a person's life. Now, suddenly, there's some event where they're coming and saying, look, there's something we didn't talk about so far, but we need to start adopting. There may be some people that it really flows for them and there's no problem for them from today to tomorrow to start doing these things. There's also those that it's not. The question is, what am I supposed to do with this thing now?

M. Laitman: Nothing. Nothing. Keep going.

Student: What does that mean, continue?

M. Laitman: Continue as you are.

Student: But if I'm hearing from my teacher that actually I have to also do other things, so I might continue as I am?

M. Laitman: I'm not telling you you have to. If I'm your teacher, I don't know.

Student: Only you're my teacher, I have no someone else.

M. Laitman: Did I tell anyone that he has to?

Student: You said that in order to advance in the spiritual path, that it's a must. That's what I heard today.

M. Laitman: Well, this is what I said. But no, no. Absolutely not. It is not mandatory on anyone. There's no obligation. No one has to.

Student: (01:59:55)  Let's resolve this problem. Whoever opened Shulchan Aruch, it's not some, high... We were just making an issue out of this. The friend is going to organize a group at sometime. I'll teach what I know about these things. There's not too many things there. What to be afraid of. And whoever wants to do it, we'll do it. Whoever doesn't want to, we won't do it. Whoever wants to come, we'll come to it. Whoever doesn't, it's always been our way. Nothing is in coercion. Nothing is in externality. It was never here, the main thing. It did not become the main thing for us. If there's such kind of a big question mark that once there was such a thing, and now it's not. So whoever wants can come.  We will organize the group and we'll do something, once a week, kind of like this, you know, calmly. Whoever wants, we can adopt it. Whoever doesn't, not. Okay?  We'll just finish this question.  Enough. L'Chaim, B'nei Baruch. L'Chaim.

M. Laitman: That's it. The lesson's over.  A question? Is it related to what we talked about? Is it related to what we talked about? It's not. Okay.

Student: (02:01:18) I wanted to ask about the article, not about Shulchan Aruch. He writes here, Rabash, that the miracle of Purim is when light was illuminating in the end of correction. Then he writes that the preparation for such a great light needs to be in joy. What does it mean that joy enables the light of the end of correction? What is that joy?

M. Laitman: Joy should be joy from good deeds. This is what it's called. If you did good deeds and it gives you joy, joy of the heart, then you're probably walking, you're probably going with the right approach.

Student: Why does joy obligate the light of the end of correction?

M. Laitman: Because only through joy can you approach the final correction. It's a sign that you're going toward the end of correction.

Student: What is joy? What is this thing called joy all of a sudden?

M. Laitman: What is sadness?

Student: A certain mood.

M. Laitman: It's not only a certain mood.

Student: A state that a person goes through.

M. Laitman: When you have surrounding lights that are that put you into sadness or joy.

Student: Again, meaning, if he defines that the miracle of the end of correction, the preparation for it, is joy, then, first of all, how do you hold on to this preparation? How do you hold on to this joy?

M. Laitman: You try to bring all the friends closer to you and connect them all together and be together in this gathering, in this inner closeness and an eruption on the outside. From this, you have joy.

Student: What are you happy from? What causes this happiness, this joy?

M. Laitman: Joy is a result from good deeds.

Student: Which is, what is good deeds?

M. Laitman: Bestowal, connection, love.

Student: Well, last question. He writes that throughout the year, we don't go on the right and only in Adar, the month of Adar, we go on the right. As if only in the standing of Purim, we go on the right. Where does that come to, all of a sudden?

M. Laitman: I don't know. This is what he writes. Clear, okay.

Student: (02:04:20) What's the connection between the inner joy and the external joy, or is there a connection between the two?

M. Laitman: There is a connection. A person can be in inner joy all day long. With external joy, he is more restrained. Can he show his inner joy outwards? Will he influence other people by this, negatively or positively?

Student: Another question, in the Unity Day that we're going to have for Purim this weekend, during our meals, we're going to do like a certain kind of gifting. Friends give gifts to other friends. Tens are preparing like a gift to other tens to the World Kli. What is that a Ten is giving, what we call a gift to another Ten?

M. Laitman: We didn't have such a thing. We didn't have it. Sometimes, between Orthodox Jews, we saw that they do it toward each other. But, no.

Student: My meaning is not that we're going to go prepare a meal or a drink and pass this to friends, but when friends want to delight the World Kli, to stand on the stage, to say L'Chaim, to sing a song, to give something from themselves towards the whole Kli.

M. Laitman: By all means.

Student: What charge can a Ten bring to the World Kli? What power does a Ten have to give something to the World Kli? What can they give them?

M. Laitman: An example. An example and joy. Whatever goes from one to the other without objects and without distances.

Student: One last question. In the convention, the Unity Day, we want to be less in joy. We want to start awakening joy between us. How not to fall to some, I don't know, animalistic joy or to really be in spiritual joy?

M. Laitman: On Purim, there's a law to get drunk indefinitely, so there's no difference here between man and beast.

Student: Then what? I can get drunk and be happy from the alcohol, but..?

M. Laitman: Whatever you want. Yes.

Student: How to be in spiritual joy in such a day?

M. Laitman: If you constantly think about spirituality, perhaps you will be in spiritual joy, but I don't think that everyone will feel it. You need to see to making everyone happy.

Student: In what can I make everyone happy?

M. Laitman: With joy. All kinds of things.

Student: Drinking and jokes and…?

M. Laitman: Yes, all kinds of things.

Student: (02:07:55) Eventually, we need to come to a decision that what's most important is to bestow to others?

M. Laitman: Yes, correct.

Student: How do you sustain it? That's the goal, and all that happens is only for that.

M. Laitman: I don't know. We drank without any limits but at the same time, we felt in our minds why and what for.

Student: (02:08:50) If joy is a correct result, so where does this result need to be disclosed, revealed?

M. Laitman: What does it mean, where?

Student: If I perform an action, and the result is joy, then joy needs to be revealed in me, or..?

M. Laitman: Both in you and from you, outwards.

Student: What does it mean from me, outwards?

M. Laitman: Well, usually, a person who's happy, he shows others in the environment where he is, that he's happy.

Student: Do I also need to expect that whoever I do this action for should also be happy?

M. Laitman: Yes, it's the law of happiness.

Student: The question is, there could be a state where I make an action and I delight someone and it's the right action, and I as a result am not happy?

M. Laitman: Well, all kinds of things happen, but usually all the people on Purim want to make each other happy, especially when they belong to the same society.

Student: I'm asking about the measure, about the result eventually.

M. Laitman: Yes. If I want to measure my action towards others, then the result should be that he'll be happy and that's it? Or should I also be happy as a result of this action?

M. Laitman: The result of it is that you too should be happy. Of course. You need to bring him closer to your joy. He needs to be incorporated in you or with you, and then he'll rejoice with your joy.

Student: My joy needs to precede his joy?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Where's my joy from?

M. Laitman: I don't know. You say it.

Student: Can it be that my joy is that I have the possibility to rejoice Him?

M. Laitman: Perhaps.

Student: Is it the right direction?

M. Laitman: Yes, yes. If you approach it so heavily, maybe, I don't know what to tell you.

Student: (02:12:03) Sorry, I forgot my question, really. I completely forgot. I completely forgot.

M. Laitman: It's a good sign. It's a good sign.

Student: (02:12:09) This Unity Day is happening in Purim. It's a special gathering, also women, children. What's specifically special about this gathering in Purim? Is there something different about it?

M. Laitman: On Purim there is the joy of children because we, compared to, or with respect to the Upper light are all like children. Then we can participate with the children and bring them candy, sweets, all kinds of simple stuff. See that they're happy. A child is the future of life. The more we want to send them something good, this is called investing in our future. That's it. So it's good to bring kids and do something for the kids. Is it today, tonight?

Student: On the unity event on Saturday, do we need to open the hearts in a different way on this day?

M. Laitman: We need to open the hearts wider without limitations, without considerations, because it's an Upper illumination that comes to us from above. This is why we have to be open, everyone, to everyone.

Student: (02:14:14) Sometimes when I read the articles, I have impressions that actually there's a certain form of delighting from our lack. Usually, you also said that joy comes from a state that we are full, but you suddenly feel that, wow, I have some deficiency to be together with the friends, I have some lack towards the goal, so suddenly that also can be a source for joy. What's that? Because it seems like it's different, but is it also a source for joy, or is it already a certain feeling?

M. Laitman:  A deficiency can be a source of joy, certainly. First of all, a general deficiency, mine, that I want to approach the Creator, to the group, the end of correction, that's a deficiency, that's my general deficiency, and I'm constantly in it. This, to me, is the main process, the heart of the process and with this I am already happy that I am on this path.
