Part 3: Lesson on the topic of "The Ruin as an Opportunity for Correction"
M. Laitman: We’re going to be learning from selected excerpts about the Shattering of the Vessels and Opportunity of them. Let's read.
Reading: (00:22) 6. Baal HaSulam, Shamati, Article No. 81, "Concerning Raising MAN" - Twice
It is known that because of the breaking, sparks of Kedusha [holiness] fell into BYA. But there, in BYA, they cannot be corrected. Therefore, they must be raised to Atzilut. By doing Mitzvot [commandments] and good deeds with the aim to bring contentment to his Maker and not to himself, these sparks rise to Atzilut.
Question (Kyiv 1): (02:01) What does it mean that we are raising the sparks for correction into Atzilut?
M. Laitman: For the time being, we don't feel that. But we are hopeful together now from our common efforts to feel that we're already connected to that degree of Atzilut, and that our desires, our suffer-quests all turn to the Creator from that same level, that same degree of Atzilut. And from that level, from that degree, we hope to receive support from Him in the form of the upper light. And in His turn, He will raise us to the world of Atzilut.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (03:18) What is the force that works on the sparks and raises them on behalf of the created being? What does the being do to cause the sparks to rise?
M. Laitman: The created being wants to rise to the degree of the Creator as much as possible. So therefore, all our prayers, our thoughts, and actions, all of those are drawn to Malchut of Atzilut. And from there, Malchut of Atzilut awakens all those lacks, and that's why, eventually, we feel how much we are drawn to the world of Atzilut.
Student: Drawn is clear, but what causes the sparks to get there?
M. Laitman: That's their nature, on their side. We just need to awaken, in general, all the sparks, and raise them to Atzilut, to adhesion with the Creator.
Student: When we awaken the sparks, does it also draw all the other vessels with them?
M. Laitman: That's enough for us. So, we want to connect with all parts of the shattered vessels that are below the Parsa, connect them, and raise them upwards from Parsa, which is the place of the world of Atzilut.
Question (Turkiye 1): (05:36) What does it mean to give contentment to the Creator?
M. Laitman: To bring contentment to the Creator is to be in a deficiency to correct the same vessels within which He needs to be revealed, and to pass it along towards His authority.
Question (Hungarian-Polish): (06:09) Aren't the sparks of the Kedusha the small broken parts of the screen? And by those, you want to correct the broken vessels?
M. Laitman: Yes, that's how it is, the sparks of holiness were once in the correct good vessels. But during the shattering of the vessels, those vessels were inverted from receiving. And we now need to awaken them to move to bestow; and then, when we will be in bestowal, we will use them according to their corrected state in order to bestow.
Question (ITA 1): (07:34) Why does a person have to study Torah Lishma in order to ascend to the world of Atzilut? Why can't I perform commandments only, let's say, in a corporeal way?
M. Laitman: No, no, no, we must try to raise all our actions in speech, in intention, in action, in all that we have, to raise them all to the world of Atzilut. Because in Atzilut, Atzilut comes from the word, Etzlo, like in His place, it's like the force of the Creator. Where the upper light corrects our desires and makes them in order to bestow – every single desire. Hence, our work is to want to perform all our actions in order to bestow to the Creator, which is possible to do only when we go up with our actions and requests to the world of Atzilut. And there we receive such a great light upon all our efforts that the intention of our action is inverted from reception, and that is what we need. And then with all our actions, with this new intention in order to bestow, we already perform an action in order to bestow.
Question (PT 19): (09:59) He says that by performing the commandments and good deeds with the intention to bestow contentment to his Maker, not for himself, the sparks can ascend to Atzilut. The question is, we still don't have that intention to bestow, so how can the sparks rise?
M. Laitman: We ask to have such sparks, sparks with the not great intentions, from the shattering. Ad by us asking for corrections for them, then from above, from the world of Atzilut, itself, comes the upper light and bestows upon the shattered sparks. And the intentions of all these sparks are inverted from in order to receive to in order to bestow. And then all those sparks, according to the extent in which they're capable of being connected to Atzilut, are under the influence of Atzilut. They're corrected by the upper light that appears upon them from the world of Atzilut to this world, to where we are for the time being. And then our sparks, by the upper light, are corrected, connected, and rise to the world of Atzilut. And there, in Malchut of Atzilut, they're all gathered together in one matter, which just rising to the world of Atzilut is their intention. And that is how they're corrected, and we constantly perform more intentions and prayers upon it. Actions between us, until we feel ourselves as all being in an ascent to Atzilut, and then, to the extent in which we are ascending to Atzilut, we begin to feel that we really belong to the world of Atzilut, to a world of bestowal and giving. Even though the way we were before, the world of reception and this inclination towards ourselves, we begin to change ourselves from in order to receive, to bestow. And then we start to perform such actions.
Student: There's a little thing here, he says, when you do the good deeds and commandments with the intention to bestow. Can we only do intentions without deeds?
M. Laitman: Intention without an act, it doesn't work, it doesn't operate, it doesn't work.
Student: So, what is the deed? Commandment to understand, intention to understand, what should be the deed here, the action?
M. Laitman: The deed should be in the connection between us to bestow to the Creator, that's it.
Question (KabU 12): (14:13) What is the work of awakening and raising the sparks in the context of our work in the Ten?
M. Laitman: By us raising to the upper light our deficiency to connect with Him at the degree of the world of Atzilut, this light acts upon us, upon the place of our deficiency. And then we all rise from the world of Atzilut to the upper world from it. And then, as we bestow upon these sparks, we raise them from the degree of the world of Atzilut where they are, to the degrees of the worlds of BYA, in practice – Beria, Yetzira, Assiya. And from them, from those worlds, we already bestow to the worlds of Beria, Yetzira, Assiya in practice. And that's how we obligate these shattered sparks to rise to Atzilut with their deficiencies and work in Atzilut. Meaning that the world of Atzilut will feel that it has such parts and desires – of course, we're only talking about desires here – that he raises upon these deficiencies to a degree that is above him. To the degrees of Beria, Yetzira, Assiya of Kedusha, and also to the world of Atzilut of Kedusha.
Student: Should we try to imagine this happening, or do we just focus on trying to connect?
M. Laitman: We need to work on the connection, it is clear that that is the general inclination of all the vessels who want to be corrected that are below the Parsa and want to rise to the world of Atzilut. When we do enter the world of Atzilut, then there we also have all kinds of degrees of the world of Atzilut – Beria, Yetzira, Assiya, also lower ones, and higher ones. So, then we receive the plan of creation.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (18:47) How do we feel the support of the upper light in the Ten? How can we learn to feel that support?
M. Laitman: The support of the upper world in the Ten we feel in our general desire in the Ten, whereas we feel an inclination towards one another, this tendency towards connecting. And our connection, where we want to rise above the state we were in to a higher level where the control of the upper light is more. And also, our desires operate there in connection and in greater ascent. And by this we, on one hand raise our MAN to the world of Atzilut; and on the other hand, we, with our vessels, raise ourselves to Atzilut, and there we stand with the deficiency until the world of Atzilut corrects us.
Student: The commandments and good deeds we're doing between us in the Ten. Does that give us more support from the upper light?
M. Laitman: Yes, also, of course, but how it happens in practice, we can learn only from the deeds that come down upon us from the upper light as it goes through the world of Atzilut, Beria, Yetzira, Assiya. And then all our forces, the records in us, also are established according to the records in them. And we, by this, ascend and rise up between us together, and together with the upper light.
Student: How do we awaken those records every time so we can strengthen ourselves and advance with our common force together?
M. Laitman: We raise our deficiencies, and our deficiencies are already such that they raise themselves to the world of Atzilut. And that is why they all stand in being corrected in the world of Atzilut, which is to connect together. And refine themselves from in order to receive to in order to bestow, and that is how they withstand the corrections towards the world of Atzilut.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (23:03) In the process of connection, should we expect a process of shattering between us?
M. Laitman: No, the process of the shattering, we need to correct it prior to our ascent to the worlds of ABYA, prior to that.
Student: If we connect and draw the light, and that light will shine on the center of the Ten. And then we'll discover that there are desires that we can't deal with that light. So, what will happen?
M. Laitman: You will reveal it when you ask to rise to a higher degree, to be more bestowing, more connected – that is called, a higher degree. Then you'll feel the extent in which you belong to it or don't. And that is how we scrutinize all our actions, we scrutinize to the extent in which we connect between us in order to bestow, from between us and the upper one. And that's the world of Atzilut in general, and that's how we will continue.
Question (Philippines): (24:41) What measure of light does the Atzilut give us? Does it also depend upon the measure of our spiritual awakening and development, no more – no less?
M. Laitman: Yes. The way we prepare our vessels, which is to the extent of our connection between us. Then our vessels become more united, more connected, more establishing us and stabilizing us. And then the upper light that appears from above appears into more connected vessels that are closer to the Atzilut. And that is how we reveal the light that comes to us within those vessels.
Student: Suppose we do not use the light that we receive. Does it vanish or will it stay?
M. Laitman: If you don't use it, then it's called that we didn't use it, that's it. The calculation with us is only on the extent in which we want to receive in order to bestow, or to at least give in order to bestow. Those are actually the actions upon which we are integrated in a world that is before us: The worlds of Assiya, Yetzira, Beria, and Atzilut.
Question (Hadera 1): (27:35) The intention takes place on the way to the world of Atzilut or in the world of Atzilut?
M. Laitman: The correction of the intention is on the way to Atzilut.
Student: And in Atzilut, a person is completely in Lishma already?
M. Laitman: No, in Atzilut, a person is in the intention in order to bestow from zero until 100%.
Student: And the corrected sparks just expand your feeling?
M. Laitman: The expansion of feelings, yes.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (28:19) How do we know that we're intending towards the world of Atzilut, that we're aiming to the world of Atzilut?
M. Laitman: That depends on the place where your heart intends to rise to.
Student: What does it mean that a person is aiming towards the world of Atzilut?
M. Laitman: What is in this world where you intend to acquire something? When you go to this place, when you ask how much it costs, and what actions you need to do in order to reach it and buy it. What you will later do with what you will buy.
Student: Okay, but I go somewhere, I see, I understand, I check. Here, I don't know what it is. It's new to me.
M. Laitman: That's why you have the study before you.
Student: I aim to the next degree of connection, that's called, Atzilut?
M. Laitman: Yes.
Student: What about Assiya, Yetzira, Beria, what about those worlds?
M. Laitman: They are the stages within which you correct your desire to receive. In the worlds Assiya, Yetzira, and Beria, and then Atzilut.
Student: So, I don't aim first to Assiya, then to Beria, or only in the end to Atzilut?
M. Laitman: You do do that, yes.
Student: So again, do I start from Assiya?
M. Laitman: You start from Assiya.
Student: So, to Assiya, what am I aiming for?
M. Laitman: To what's before you. It's as usual, as we say, it's in the study, and in actions, and deeds, and in the intention in order to bestow. It
Student: Does it matter what degree and what world I'm in? Or just to connect with the friends and aim to connection?
M. Laitman: It all unravels before you, then it opens up before you where you are and what you need to do according to your degree, and how you do it. Even though you ask for help and see how much you're being helped from a higher degree from you, the adjacent degree to you. And that is how you acquire the connection with the ladder above you.
Student: In what stage is the next degree already opened up for a person to see what to do?
M. Laitman: The moment he is ready to do all he needs to do in that degree that he acquired, and only the next degree remains for him – the upper degree.
Student: That person always has guidance towards the next degree?
M. Laitman: Yes.
Student: It's not concealed from him.
M. Laitman: No, no, no, a person always feels how connected he is to his environment. And how connected he needs to be through his environment together with them to a higher up degree.
Student: If it's not clear what the next thing, what the Creator wants from me, so what does it mean? What am I doing wrong?
M. Laitman: Ask. Raise MAN.
Student: And you get an answer for that?
M. Laitman: You certainly get an answer for that! Otherwise, we won't be able to advance. Our ascent only depends on our MAN.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (32:47) We reveal the shattering in the Ten in the relationships between us. Is the inner work, when we raise the shattered sparks to the upper one and ask for corrections? Should we expect external change, meaning more participation in the morning lesson and increasing the Arvut in the Ten?
M. Laitman: With no doubt, the participation – even technically participating – where a person comes and has an empty mind, can't aim himself to nothing. And he comes and sits down, and is there before everyone, just as we understand that he needs to be in it to appear this way. From his connection with us, that is enough for him, for his deficiency to be integrated with our deficiencies to the degree of the first degree of Atzilut, which we're in, all of us gathering there, beginning to gather there.
Student: As a friend in the Ten that feels a shattering in trying to do inner work, should my results be also externally? That I see more participation, more Arvut in the Ten, should I expect an external result, too? Or is all the work internal?
M. Laitman: No, there's no such thing as all internal work, it's all the work with the friends.
Student: So, there should be a resemblance between the inner work in the Ten, and we'll see that the friends are more in Arvut?
M. Laitman: Yes.
Question (Unity 4): (35:10) How to connect our desires and intentions in order to raise them to Malchut of Atzilut? How to perform the correct choice?
M. Laitman: The choice is very easy: You need to connect all of you together, the whole Ten. And the way you connect between you, the Ten together, it's a result of your common actions, your common intentions, your common goal. Everything you have, as we say, one man with one heart, with one heart, with one body, and then you start asking for it.
Question (Almaty 1): (36:25) A person doesn't always feel – sometimes he does and sometimes he doesn't. But what's the difference between whether his work is accompanied with feeling or that he works out of confidence without feeling?
M. Laitman: So, where does the confidence come from?
Student: From the faith of the sages that they describe in their books or believe in the teacher?
M. Laitman: What's written in the books doesn't mean anything; if I feel that I’m in it, then that means that I've acquired that degree.
Question (Kyiv 3): (37:22) If during our actions throughout the day we don't feel, and we don't think or believe that the sparks are rising to some place. Does that mean that we're not raising them anywhere? Or are we raising them, it's just concealed from us?
M. Laitman: It's concealed from you. Every action that you awaken in the connection with a group is a spiritual action. In your actions, you awaken desires in the upper Partzuf, connects you to it, and then all the upper light can pass through you, so Malchut of Assiya.
Student: Let's assume now after the lesson we put together a prayer, and we have connections throughout the day, etc. Is it worthwhile for us to add to these actions a thought about raising sparks to Atzilut? To somehow think about it, to mention it, so that it will add the importance to us? Does it add to the sensitivity of things?
M. Laitman: It raises the sensitivity, but on the other hand, it brings with it some additional qualities that you still haven't acquired. Meaning, you aren't on those degrees yet. Gradually, another lesson, another two lessons, still all of us together will start entering, entering it gradually. Today, the lesson is taking place in Malchut of the world of BYA. Tomorrow or the next day, we will be on a degree, a higher degree than Malchut of the world of BYA. And we will advance onward.
Question (W Turkiye 7): (40:03) What are the things that we can do now, even before we enter spirituality?
M. Laitman: I didn't understand, again? Yes. To raise all our sparks to Atzilut. Whoever you know or don't know, that is ready to raise it to Atzilut.
Reader: The friend is describing this advanced spiritual work, to raise sparks from BYA to Atzilut. But what now, in practice, is our work?
M. Laitman: In practice, we need to gather all the records and sparks, and to raise them to Malchut of Atzilut, Beria, Yetzira, Assiya – to the general Malchut. You want to be incorporated there with your vessel.
Question (W Spa): (41:51) Every time we advance on the path to correct the vessel, it becomes more difficult.
M. Laitman: Yes?
Student: Why is it that way?
M. Laitman: As much as we raise ourselves, the degrees become more difficult, more demanding. Demanding intention to be close, to be connected, that’s how it is.
Question (Florida): (42:42) The sparks fell to BYA, and was this the first time that we need to pray? I can imagine Adam crying out to the Creator, and this is how all the upper worlds were discovered.
M. Laitman: Yes and no, yes and no. Yes and no, because our deficiencies, obviously, they're connected to Malchut that is in the end of the worlds of ABYA. And we awaken it. We want to raise her and feel her – that she receives from Malchut of Atzilut. After that, we want to correct the general Malchut by the upper light that descends to us from the world of Atzilut. We want to correct all of our vessels that are able to be corrected by the upper light. And then, when that degree is revealed, that through it we fill the upper light, we can fill it with the upper light. This way, we attain some degree in all the worlds, no matter, it doesn't matter which, we attain some degree. We'll scrutinize it more soon.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (45:54) Perhaps, about this, there's a difference between the sparks that rise to Atzilut or rise to all the worlds. Or us rising in the worlds?
M. Laitman: No difference, it's the same thing.
Student: So, the raising of the sparks in us, that we also receive the light from all the worlds?
M. Laitman: Yes?
Student: I understood that we need to correct first the shattering between us before we rise all together to the first world of Atzilut. Correct the way I understood it?
M. Laitman: No.
Student: So, each time a certain separation or differentiation between us is revealed, then in the connection between us, we manage to raise sparks of holiness, and then we advance stage after stage that way?
M. Laitman: Yes.
Reader: We can continue to the next excerpt, Excerpt number 7.
M. Laitman: 7, okay.
Reader: Baal HaSulam writes in Letter Number 19.
Reading: (47:12) 7. Baal HaSulam, Letter No. 19
Due to the breaking of the vessels, all the Otiot were ejected to corporeal conducts and people. When one corrects oneself and reaches one’s root, he must collect them by himself, one by one, and bring them back to the root, to holiness. This is the meaning of “to sentence oneself and the entire world to the side of merit.”
Rav reads: Due to the breaking of the vessels, all the Otiot, the letters, meaning all the records were ejected to corporeal conducts and people. When one corrects oneself and reaches one's root,
The root means his higher degree where he receives the light from. Why?
One must, he must collect them by himself, one by one, and bring them back to the root.
Meaning to raise all those vessels to holiness.
This is the meaning of to sentence oneself and the entire world to the side of merit.
So, it doesn't end, there's more to add to it, but okay. Number Eight.
Reading: (49:00) 8. RABASH, Article No. 867, "The Governance of Peace"
Man can toil and labor if no correction results from it. But for a small thing, which does not require much effort, if it is on the path of correction, there is no strength, since the corruptions come from the breaking of the vessels of the sin of the tree of knowledge.
Since this is still not corrected, corruptions still reign. This reign gives power, which is not so on the path of correction. This requires a different governance, called “peace.”
M. Laitman: Well, we'll continue that tomorrow already.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (50:18) Meaning of the letters in spirituality.
M. Laitman: Every letter has a certain degree – a special light and a special form of bestowal on everything it shines – so the light, the letter is the will to receive that is in the letter. And the light that is concealed in the letter, by the revelation of the letters with the lights, we want those lights to be revealed. And from them we can learn where we are, let's say, in the reading, where we have to go towards. The light is like a road map, through it we can aim ourselves from one light to a higher light, to a higher degree. And in this way we go through the path, that's why the work with the lights and vessels that are concealing the lights, that's our work. If we ask for revelation through the letters, the Creator can reveal Himself. And that's how we learn what each and every letter is; what the forms of the screens are that the lights are in. And how we can turn to that place in order for the lights to come from the letters to us.
Student: How do we feel the letters: Aleph, Bet, Gimel, the alphabet?
M. Laitman: We feel them as a source of lights, higher lights. Then the upper light that comes from each and every letter, then we see what character those lights have. And then according to that, we can reach the vessels, higher vessels.
Student: How do we work with letters?
M. Laitman: That work is still coming before us. So, with that, we finished the lesson and now we're going to move to summarize our lesson in the Ten.
