Love Covers All Crimes - Excerpts From the Sources, #15
1. Rav’s Introduction: We feel either distancing, resistance, opposition, what we call crimes, our ego that is standing between us if we are aware of it or even notice it, as rejection, distancing or we feel the attraction and closeness to one another. Indeed, we can feel together both the distancing and the connection it is truly a great art and we acquire specifically through the spiritual process which is not simple. However, we need to be aware of it, those who even prepare food, they know that you need to add to it even if it is sweet, you add a little bit of bitter, something which is the opposite in order to emphasize the sweetness. For the opposite, if you make a sweet thing you add cognac or whiskey, we are not capable of feeling only one thing but always something and its opposite as we talked about the advantage of light out of darkness. Little children, they usually like only one thing, only sweet, but we already want to feel these two things together, something hot and spicy and then the opposite. Also in our life we feel that if we have such nice good states of love without any limitations, without any criticism that something is missing. The love cannot hold on to anything unless we also have some gripping points for rejection and other calculations. This is why we always have to add to the sweet the bitter to specifically emphasize the sweet taste. This is how we are built, it comes from the foundation of creation that we are the opposite of the Creator in order to feel him, along with that we have to feel ourselves and from ourselves to feel him, otherwise we have no sensation of anything. We cannot attain something that exists outside of us but only on the condition that its qualities enter into us and together with us, with our own qualities, as it says “the Lord has created one opposite the other” this is how we obtained things. This is why the rule that love covers all crimes that we speak of love as the purpose of our development, the purpose of our correction so that on the way to applying love we need to discover all the crimes that exist at the Creator prepared for us for us to attend love and its wholeness. 2. R. We do not choose our friends as Baal HaSulam explains to us the Creator brings the person to the good faith and says take that and the way it works out, it may seem to you that you choose them this way or that way, but following all of your decisions following behind all of these actions is the Creator who is arranging us. This is why the more we will detect each and everything that it depends upon us, that it relates to the connection between us, we will be able to reach a state where whatever happens in the world depends on the connection between us, only through the connection between us, we will be able to correct the world. As much as in the connection between us we will give the Creator room to control the world will become more corrected between us, it means in the ten. Later on we will expand the ten to ten tens, thousand tens, it doesn't matter, a million or a billion tens but nevertheless they will be felt in us as a single ten. As much as we will detect and discover that, between us exists the Creator with greater concealment or greater revelation, greater concealment again and greater revelation in such a way that we will feel this pulse, the spiritual life in such a way of contraction and expansion. By this we will feel ourselves as advancing more and more towards unity between us and connection with the Creator. Think about these words.
3. S. (09:20) He writes in the article that one needs to believe, above reason, to have faith in the greatness of the friends and later he can see it within reason, how are these things connected, is there a correlation?
R. The fact that I accept this is how it is, this is what the Kabbalists say, the friends are on the one hand and on the other, if I feel it already in my attainment then there is a great difference. Either this is what I study or I am already in it and I feel it and of course, this is called the preparation for the spiritual degree and the spiritual degree itself.

R. 5. S. (12:16) What do we call crimes in the ten?
R. Crimes in the ten we mean that we discover how much there is distancing, rejection, not accepting each other, not understanding each other. It is the opposite of how we need to be as one man in one heart.
S. Can I ask about covering, the act of covering as opposed to ignoring or forgiving what is that act?
R. That we do not erase anything negative that exists between us because specifically through that if we cover it, not letting go of it, not moving away from it, not to distance from it but only to cover it, accordingly we discover what is the essence of that force of connection. It is like you have something, some shape and you only coat it, you cover it, so we get the shape from the thing and itself. Let's say you have all kinds of forms and shapes made of sand and above it you throw a piece of cloth then what is important to you are the shapes, the curves. We get all the shapes and forms not from the upper force but from ourselves, from our will to receive which is called matter. We only put upon it a correct clothing, a correct cover, there is resistance, collision the opposite form in between the two of them, between the matter itself and whatever covers it. So, these crimes when they are covered by us they become positive, but we have to have a grip on both of them and the more we advance we have matter that is more cruel and brutal, opposites, contradictory, conspicuous and against it we also have a cover that will cover it with all the nuances, subtleties, tiniest forms that exist in the matter. It's not that they should leave each other but rather not like children, we do want to be in hatred and love together so that in between the two of them we discover their upper source. As it says the maker of light and the Creator of darkness, this is the Creator himself.
S. Then you start seeing good things in the difficulties, that it is good to have these hardships?
R. Of course. To begin with we have to approach it this way, yes? This is why we have the time of preparation, to prepare ourselves to relate to each and everything that its source is there is none else besides him, the Creator himself, there is no other and it all comes from him. It is only in order for us to reach our wholeness and attain Him through that. The Creator for us, the name BoReh, is come and see, when you connect the darkness and light together into a single source. Then you discover Him in this way from the two opposite qualities.
S. In covering is that internal or also external?
R. We need to see what a cover is. It is revealed in all kinds of different matters so don't become too attached by my example of the sand and a piece of cloth.
6. S. (17:11) You talked about getting stronger, what are the signs of growing stronger and what does that have to do with coming closer and what are the signs of coming closer?
R. To come closer means that with every step if I feel that I am moving away, I turn it into a step by which I am coming closer, the Creator distances me, rejects me and pushes me one step back. he adds to my egoistic will to receive, confusions, bad states, bad relations between us and specifically through that and above it I come closer to him, I take a step forward. This is how we come closer the more they add to us in the coarseness and above it specifically we come closer to the refinement. That is the way and this is why we remain created beings. However, we become similar to The Creator we put upon ourselves the cover so that this cover is the Creator, as we say we clothe in Him.
S. What does it mean then to become stronger because coming closer could also mean feeling weaker or so what does stronger mean?
R. Stronger means that we do not fall, we do not move, we realize that it is the Creator who is playing with us and we hold each other, we are built in such a way in the ten that we can always have the understanding, the awareness, that we are in an exercise with the Creator. In such a way just like they teach a baby to walk, this is how he is teaching us to come closer to Him. To take upon ourselves more and more his form and all kinds of different manners, so for the time being we need to, we can't yet, but later on we need to detect in each and every descent, falling, conflict, fight, whatever we go through we have to feel that out of that what is the next form we have to attain and coming closer, in embracing. This is our work and there is a lot written about it. That is it, try to each time be in the right direction towards that.
7. S. (20:25) If there is some conflict with the friend if we solve the problem do we solve the problem or do we simply try to ignore the division that was revealed between us?
R. It works only when you try to bring it to social advancements, for everyone to connect together not only the two of you, of course you don't want to confuse the ten all the time with that, but what we need is to be aware that the conflict between the two of us is not between us. It really belongs to the whole ten, working on the whole ten. We have to somehow bring it to the society even in the bad when it is happening between us, also whatever we feel in that as much as we are in a state where we are far away from each other, we cannot see each other, we hate, we reject each other. On the other hand how much now we understand that we need to realize it is coming from the Creator. That there is none else besides Him. That he is creating these fights between us. In other words, he is showing us the coarseness and we need to place upon this coarseness a restriction, screen, and reflected light, and this is how we will advance and we need to show these things to the group so that this will be the property and position of everyone. This way we will advance taking one step forward all of us together.
S. You say this reflects something that happens in the society. Do you mean BB or the general society of the world?
R. How can you ask about the general society?
S. Just trying to understand your meaning.
R. Why did you ask about this?
S. Just wanted to make certain I understand correctly.
R. If you're asking about the general society then you're asking incorrectly, what general society? It is a herd of beasts who are not living in two states and with the middle line in between them, they have no spiritual goal. Why would you ask about them? If you have some place in your head or heart for them that is already wrong, you need to think about how you will send them some message, some explanation so that they will be able to understand in their form, in their degree as much as whatever we are going through to bring about connection between us. But that is totally different, it is as explaining to children, here we are talking about states that we arrived upon them, increasingly more, us by ourselves.
S. I understand thank you.
R. I hope you understood.
8. S. (24:09) If we get up in the morning and we feel happiness is it a result of coming closer to the ten and the Creator?
R. Yes, but it's not enough it should be balanced. Joy is good but this is the joy of babies, it is good that you get up in such a way but what happens in the next moment? What am I getting up what am I getting up for and why am I in joy, why am I in despair, how do I help them, how do I advance from my individual feeling to the feeling of the ten which is already a spiritual feeling, all of these things we already need to start arranging them immediately.
S. The feeling is very different, sometimes we get up and it's difficult, we're tired but we see the ten and all of a sudden it is as if we got an injection of energy.
R. Of course because you're connected with eternity the eternal world, your soul which is eternal and it's not that you exist in your body which is just an animal. This is the difference between the worlds.
S. Then I remember that I meet that feeling?
R. For the time being we are being reminded by the heavens, from the Creator nothing happens for no reason there is no such thing. But later on you will have to perform all kinds of actions also before you go to sleep in a way that you wake up at night or you wake up in the morning, as much as you have preparation, as much as you prepare yourself this helps you. Then you will see that it is not necessarily that you will get up to a new shiny day. It could be that you will see the world as dark and the society rejects you, you reject them. So, what, all I know is to scrutinize things. We wake up each and every moment in order to actualize the correction. This is our work and this is why if I feel bad in some way it is a sign that I am capable of inverting this sign from bad to good.
9. S. (26:51) You said that we need to measure our advancement towards the ten and the Creator?
R. It is revealed according to the connection between us as much as we are far away from him we feel that we have a distance between us and we have a distance between us and the Creator. If we come closer to Him we come closer to each other, this is how we need to try to feel ourselves, just like in our world we get accustomed to all kinds of emotional phenomena, that is this way or that way. This is how it is with the Creator, that he needs to appear to us as being revealed out of the connection between us. The more we are connected we feel Him more, we move farther away he disappears.
S. If I feel that it is revealed through a more egoistic desire being revealed is this a sign that something is ....?
R. If I discover more egoistic qualities in me, it is a sign that the Creator is awakening us in order for me to correct them. That is it, love covers all crimes and the more that we have crimes it is a sign that I am capable of covering them with love.
S. Another point is as soon as I touch it, I fall.
R. I don't know what you mean by touch it or not touch it, try not to disconnect from the friends, as much as possible, realistically feel the connection between you and then in the connection between you, out of this connection between you, you discover the Creator.
10. S. (29:51) If I have a feeling that besides the ten I feel a very strong force on me that is constantly pulling me to corporeality and I want to pray now through the ten to the Creator that He will pull me back from there, so whom precisely do I pray, where do I pray?
R. First of all you need to find the center of your connection, of the friends, without having it.
S. I do find it?
R. So from it onwards you have to search for what contact you have with the upper force, with the Creator as he is the one who is establishing the group, arranging you and now you are trying to unite the group through your inner efforts and then you turn to Him. Perform this sequence of actions from me to the ten and then out of the ten to connection and from the connection between us to the Creator and you will see that it is working, it becomes revealed.
S. So that is a certain thing, part of the Creator, that I aim for?
R. I don't know what you mean by specific parts in the Creator, I only know one thing, from our connection in the group, I try to turn to Him, that he is the one who is establishing the group for us, He is connecting between us. So, I turn to that same force of connection that built the group and I turned to Him as a father, he built us, our soul, our connection in the ten. It comes from Him. To the extent that I am connected with the friends in the ten into a vessel of bestowal then I search who is our source and I turn to him, from there I have access to him. This is how I turn.
11. S. (32:34) Great excitement towards the upcoming Congress deep scrutiny. How to ask the Creator to be worthy of seeing the virtues of the friends and to be happy about the connection with them?
R. We need to get used to it, increasingly more as we need to look at the friends that, not at them, not at their external form so it won't blur the inner spiritual concepts. This world should not be a partition between me and the spiritual world. The spiritual world is the connection between us; it is forces and there we are connected together into one soul and we exist there, we are together in adhesion with the Creator. I need to try to reach the feeling, to arrange this form in such a way emotionally so that I will live in it.
12. S. (33:53) Fantastic introduction to the lesson, every introduction brings us closer to the Congress. The more we make room for the Creator and the connection between us we will be able to feel the world better, so I need to see Divinity, the Creator has the same essence on our path of connection?
R. I don't know what the Shechinah is, what the essence is, I am afraid and cautious with these words because everybody uses them. I want something that is closer to my inner feeling, even Rav’s words. It's between us so we have to assign to them, some symbol, some name. I have no possibility except through the love of people to reach the love of the Creator, I'm not talking about the degree of love now but from connection between people to connection with the Creator. As much as I depict to myself that we are connected but internally, there I tried to discover the force, the source, our higher source. It created us, connected us, sustains us and we on our side from below upward can come to Him. In this way and discover him, emotionally, through inner efforts as much as possible between us and to Him. This is what we have to do.
S. We raised a prayer. What is the address to which we raise the prayer?
R. The center of the ten.
13. S. (36:25) If I am facing nature, the sight of nature that I feel power and beauty then I thank the Creator for that power and beauty that he created and at the same time in my mind appears the image of the ten, meaning I see all of my friends connected together and the same evening I tell my friends about this experience, to share. To what extent is that a spiritual thing? How to differentiate between spiritual emotion, and a feeling from this world?
R. First of all if I connect with the ten then I am already connected to spirituality, I don't yet depict it clearly, openly, in a revealing way but it is spirituality already. Even if now that we are sitting with no spiritual force that is working between us as bestowal above reason, faith above reason, we don't have it. But we want it to be, we try to get closer to it and already we are learning how to walk spiritually so that below will be our ego and above it we want to reach connection in spite of the ego, in spite of the rejection. We do not erase the rejection as we know the ego is the whole matter of creation and from it we start to exist, all the time the more we exist the ego will grow and we will be above it and in the gap between the egoistic form and the altruistic form, in between us this is how our spiritual stature, our spiritual level is established. We try to be more in it and the more we will think about it we will feel ourselves as being in it increasingly more.
Of course, we get confused making mistakes, fall, get up a thousand times, the righteous shall fall and get up, this is how it is. This is the way and we are already in it. Look how much we have already a clear direction from one day to the next and more understanding and more feeling, we already have mutual support. We are in very advanced spiritual states, of course it is still in darkness with lack of seeing, this vision will not be like in corporeal sight, it will be spiritual sight as much as we in our faith of rising above the ego that we don't want to look at things egotistically but through connection, that love we want to see through the connection and love to see the world. This is how we will advance and this is before us. I hope truly that even before we will reach the congress, we will start to feel those spiritual steps that we are going through practically. I have no doubt that the advancement is correct and it is massive, very intensive and very powerful. Just don't let go and try throughout the day to do exercises, each and everyone even if he doesn't connect to the others.
14. S. (40:51) Where to aim the pleasure we get from melting into the ten?
R. Only through the Creator, only through the connection between us we can turn to the Creator, then through the connection between us as much as we are capable of detecting him we turn to the Creator and we turn to Him, transmit to Him all of our heartfelt emotion as much as we are capable of it in the good and in the bad, each and everything ascribe it to him. Even if we feel bad, through the connection between us, even the negative connection, turn to Him. If it is good between us, through that good connection between us, that good feeling, also turn to Him all the time, Israel the light or the Torah and the Creator should be in us as a single point in the center of the ten, there is the connection between us and with the Creator it is permanent, it exists. At that point the three things, we as one, our connection with the Creator and the Creator Himself, Israel, the Light and the Creator. Why is there a difference between the Torah and the Creator? Because the Torah teaches us there is the Creator and his attitude to us, how the Torah teaches us how to advance and walk and there is us with the connection between us we tried to go forward according to his guidelines, his directions. This is how it is, these three things try to have them constantly and then we will advance correctly and quickly.
15. S. (43:11) The center of the ten, how can I focus on the center of the ten through words, concepts what you described a few moments ago. We have gotten used to this word, the center of the ten, maybe you can explain it in a more emotional way, the matter of the center of the ten?
R. I am grateful to you for the question, our veteran, loyal friend, it is truly a very important question. The center of the ten is all of the connection between us and from us to the Creator, the center of the ten is that point from which the Creator relates to the created beings, the center of the ten is that place where He exists as BoReh, come and see so that we can discover him. The center of the ten is his attitude, his relation to the created beings, before that he is abstract and we don't know what form he exists as we have no possibility to attain that. This is why the center of the ten should constantly be our goal. That to it we are constantly drawn, we see it before us, that whatever we do, we should relate all of it to the center of the ten. The darkness that increases and the light that intensifies, all of these things are in the center of the ten, it is like birds to bring the food, some leaf for their nest, this is how we should constantly add in the center of the ten. Gather all of our discernments, the negative and positive ones, measure everything. How does it distance between us and how this is also for the better because it has coarseness and how through this we come closer when we build on top of it a screen, connection until the connection between us will be sufficient and the Creator will be revealed. That actually He exists both in establishing the coarseness between us, the distancing on the degrees of coarseness Shoresh, Aleph, Bet, Gimel, Dalet and also the connection between us and the screen on top of it also Shoresh, Aleph, Bet, Gimel, Dalet and according to that in between this and that in between the coarseness and the refinement we will start to attain Him. Because we already have these two forms that bring us this concept of BoReh, come and see, we have disconnection and we have connection, concealment and revelation. This is how we discover the connection between us. From these two things where love covers all crimes and this is how we will discover the Creator. Only from these two opposite things.
16. S. (47:14) In the new states of maturity up to what level should we connect to the friend who doesn't show up to the lesson, how in this awakening do we not steal the gain or effort from the friend?
R. Don't be concerned about that, don't worry about stealing efforts from him as the Creator will arrange for him the opportunity to express his effort, to make effort in many forms. The group can help the friend, the ten can help the friend in everything including a state he has no energy but that you give him energy by throwing him a rope to pull him out of dangerous waters, that you awaken him. The group can do everything even though he doesn't have the power, but he signed and his signature from back when, where he agrees that we help him, it exists even though he decides to cancel that signature is saying he doesn't want it anymore, that he is leaving the group, still you have to regard him as being in the group but there is this form upon him and you need to approach him once and again until you turn to him three times. If he says no, no and no, then you leave him.
S. In that state a person should receive the force from the ten generally or personally, individually?
R. Both, it is difficult to explain what is happening here. I should also recommend not to influence him directly but maybe through his wife, through his family as a man is heavily influenced by his wife. Try speaking to his wife in a way where it is unbeknownst to him and explain how good he is and special he is, how capable he is that he has this special spiritual ascent that is ready for him and this will be spread across the family, giving it to her and the children as well. Just explain in a popular way how everyone stands to gain from him being chosen out of millions of people to be close to the Creator. What he is doing, it's not something that goes against the family or the profession, or the children, to the contrary it is better that he engages in this than other things. So, speak to the wife and you will see how beneficial it is. We men are very heavily influenced by the women as it comes to us from our mothers and is written in the Torah as one should let go of his mother and adhere to his wife.
17. S. (50:57) Once to acquire the heart of the friends of the ten we would bring whiskey, a key holder, a shirt, something to show them that we think about it, how do we do this virtually today?
R. I think there are many more possibilities to bring each other gifts in a virtual sense, spiritual gifts which affect the friends more, but we have to make greater effort as we simply have to make this effort to reach the heart of the friend. Giving him a bottle of whiskey, every week I would get a bottle of whiskey as a present from somebody, sometimes even two, it's not that I become an alcoholic as a result, but it does make me happy that people give gifts. I hope that you also bring such gifts to each other, but it is not about the bottle of whiskey, you all need to show each other the extent of your love and warmth in the connection between you and also to not be afraid of showing that this is all against your natural rejection and the distance. Meaning that I come, I do this above the natural rejection that I have to everyone, there are people who have great rejection naturally to connection and others not so much. Me, it's very difficult to reach connection according to my character. My nature, I'm ready to sit at home and not go outside or meet anyone as this is my character. There are people for whom this is the opposite; they like hugging, speaking to people, connecting together as you have all sorts. Later we'll understand why we’re mixed together in the tens.
18. S. (53:31) Recently our meetings in which we read the articles of Rabash and Baal HaSulam, he becomes more emotional and joyous and the friends want to share what they felt and understood. Is this worthwhile to continue in this way?
R. We need to be scrutinizing our relations between each other and the materials that we study, if every day you make a connection with each other, you will see that there is room for both. Let's say you read an article for 20 minutes and for 10 minutes more you discuss what you discover in the group. It is possible.
19. S. (56:05) We learned that the correction is only in the ten, how does it happen when we connect into one desire as one man and one heart, does reality take on his spiritual form when we connect?
R. Yes, immediately when we connect as one man in one heart on the degree of Shoresh, we begin to feel ourselves to be a spiritual embryo. Yes.
S. Out of that do we as a ten build a new spiritual perception above the egoistic one or does the whole world take on this perception?
R. The world is what we feel, it has no form except for that which we give it, if we reach a connection between us above reason on the coarsest degree of Shoresh, we immediately feel ourselves and the world in a new way, a different way.
20. S. (57:12) Some portion of the friends can't come to the morning lesson because of the intense work for a time but they are coming to the meeting in the day, are they something the study of the ten with this what should be the approach of the ten?
R. Our approach to them, the friends that can only come to our connection that we make during the day, it is like they are members of the group, but they will lack some of the powers of understanding and feeling of how we are advancing, it is like they are with us, but only like. The question is are they listening to the morning lesson later during the day, that is the question and you need to be concerned about that. If they listen to the morning lesson later and they connect with us twice a day let's say in the ten then we can accept them as though they are with us together.
21. S. (58:30) The feeling of bitterness, what kind of harm can it create in the ten and how do we prevent this feeling?
R. The feeling of bitterness should bring about joy because I attribute it to the group and the Creator so that I advance above it and so I don't see anything bad that is revealed in the world, something which is harmful, the opposite. All of the bad things, is everyone listening? All of the bad things that appear in reality, all of these things happened during the time of the shattering of the vessels and their fall, now when they come to be corrected, they are rising out of that fall so that we will correct them. Their revelation, then this, should bring us joy of course we feel burdening of the heart, we feel bad, as this is caused by the holiness of the day, meaning that now I need to be glad because I am discovering all of these bad thoughts, all of the egoistic qualities and states, I discovered how I am. If I discover them, if they are revealed to me it's a sign that I can correct them and rise above them, but they are already repaired from the shattering of the general vessel of Adam HaRishon and so anything that comes from there to be corrected should elicit joy in us. It all depends on the connection in us, if we are ready to grab a hold of these broken vessels that appear, to connect them to us and to correct them. That is it, the Creator raises them for us, we just need to take them together in connection with him, in a prayer to him so that he helps us grab them together in the center of the ten, to elevate that broken vessel as MAN to him that we received the upper light for it correcting that part shining within it and then we have a spiritual degree.
22. S. (01:01:56) When we advance we don't feel any fear towards the world and if we don't connect it will come out very badly for the world and for us so how do we develop a feeling of responsibility in the ten towards what we do?
R. We must feel we are responsible over our advancement in the advancement of the world more and more, by this we elevate the broken vessels to the Creator for correction that he corrects them and we bring him contentment. This is why all of our work is called the work of God, meaning that the Creator does the work and we only ask, request, support it, this is the work. Without that nothing will happen, the broken vessels will only accumulate without correction and then it brings about disaster. From that we will also rise and be corrected but not in a desirable way, in a good way, a good style.
