Preparation passage before TES - Nov. 09, 2020 Reader (00:01 - 1:48)
Baal HaSulam. "Study of the Ten Sefirot" (TES). Part 1. Table of Questions for Topics
30. (1:46) Question 100. When is the Kli for reception completed? Answer. When the Bechinat Dalet of the 4th phase of the desire appears, which is the Gadlut of the will to receive.
31. S. (3:12) In the text it says that there is a moment in which the exertion in the Torah is sufficient, how can we know that the exertion in the Torah is sufficient?
R. You will make the exertion and you will see if it suffices or not, we're talking about what people tell us about people who made the exertion and who were rewarded with the revelation of the upper Force, where everything becomes clear, do you understand? Where you feel that you are in the same way that this world seems clear to you, that is how clear your presence in the whole world, in all of the world's feels, so they achieve this and they tell us how to do that so you do it and you will get there. If you have another method, we're not in your way. We study and we try to implement all of this according to the method of the kabbalists, according to what we learn from history there is no other method over the past several thousands of years which allows a person to work that way and to get to know the upper Force.
32. (4:43) Question 101. What is the difference between one who receives within and one who receives without as in Ein Sof? Answer. The one who receives within can only hold within a limited amount of light, because of the limitation of the vessel. When receiving without, the vessel does not limit the light that it holds and it is without any allowance. Kitzba.
R. That's the difference between the inner light and the surrounding light, the Inner Light we feel only to the extent that we can capture and resemble it and then we feel it inside this is why it is limited. But the surrounding light, which is outside of us, although we do not know it in detail, we only feel that it exists in general, however we feel it to be unlimited. That is the difference. Meaning each thing has a plus and a minus to it, so when you feel it inside you attain it, when you feel it outside you only feel it.
33. (6:02) Question 102. What are the Sephirot of the Igulim, circles? Answer. When there is no differentiation above and below among the four discernments in the desire, they are regarded as four circles one inside the other like onion skins.
34. (6:51) Question 103. Why are the degrees in the circles not regarded as being one below the other before the appearance of the Kav, line? Answer. Because the Restriction did not occur because of the inferiority of the disparity of form.
R. Because there is no difference before the restriction and after the restriction until it is arranged through the Masach and Aviut, the difference is between the small and the great, in the circles there is no difference, before an action before the filling of the will to receive and after when the desire is completely corrected there is also no difference between small and big. Because everything is corrected according to its magnitude.
35. (7:54) Question 104. Is there evil in the will to receive by the nature of its creation? Answer. There is no inferiority in it by the nature of its creation nor would it appear in it had it not been restricted.
R. It means that only the restriction over the Bechinat Dalet as opposed to the previous three, there was no inferiority to the will to receive, because it cannot resemble the light it was revealed as inferiority.
Baal HaSulam. "Study of the Ten Sefirot" (TES). Part 2. item #1
Reader “The line is like a thin pipeline” (9:08 - 10:17)
36. R. After the fourth discernments of this straight light, the direct light came and the light filled up all of these phases of direct light where the light was, it preceded all of the discernments, all of the desires, it created them and fulfilled them. Then we learned that the last discernment, the fourth one was restricted and then the light departed all of those discernments and then the fourth discernment began to draw the light again in a very special way which is called a line. The difference between the circle and the line is that in the circle there is no limitation, the light can fill the entire will which the Creator created and through the line that means that the will itself determines the way in which the light comes to it and fills it. The circle is the fulfillment of the will to receive without limitations and the line is where the light can come only according to the will, the will limits and restricts it from the whole circle to a thin line. This is what we learned, so here we see that if in Part One we don't have the created being, everything as the Creator created it this is how it is, but here in the Part Two we begin to learn about the actions the created being takes and the extent to which it limits the upper light in terms of the ways in which it can fill it and connect with it.
37. S. (12:23) When we turn out of the ten in order for the Creator to connect us to which quality of the light of returning to the circles or...?
R. We turn to the Creator alone, you've never heard me say we turn to the line or the circle or the triangle, no, the suitcase is there inside the space and you turn to the suitcase. No, I ask you don't engage in fantasy, study exactly what we study, because there are many avenues that you can get confused if you follow.
Ohr Pnimi Item 1 “The line that extends from the light of Infinity....”(13:17 - 13:29)
38. R. Meaning that we had circles Shoresh Aleph Bet Gimel Dalet, these circles were full of light and then the 4th discernment felt that it is receiving, that it is opposite to the light and therefore it is restricted, reduced the will to receive and the light departs, there's nothing partial in spirituality there for the light departed all of the circles. The fourth discernment determines the way in which the light will come to it and fill it, it determines it not only for itself but also for all the rest of the circles and so it follows that the line comes, the thin line which sits inside that space. You have circles and the light enters only in a very restricted manner, like a tiny sector passing through all of the circles from the outside to their center and he says from this line, the line extends from Ein Sof, the circles outside of the created being into the space after the restriction that is the meaning of the line.
Item 2 “The vessels of the 10 Sephirot of Yosher...”(14:55 - 17:13)
39. S. The line expresses, the request an answer is this a line of communication?
R. The line is the measure of equivalence between the will to receive of the created being and the will to bestow of the Creator it is the extent to which the created being can come to resemble the Creator this is expressed as the line. The more the created being can resemble the Creator the line becomes wider, the less he can do it it becomes more narrow and so the light that follows it is the same with the light, the lights can be higher or lower, the line is also desire, the measure of desire which was created in which the created being can resemble the Creator. That is a line.
40. S. (18:23) He says the vessels of the 10 Sephirot of Yosher are called Tzinor, conduit, because they limit with great control and accuracy the light that travels through them, what is this limitation?
R. Limitation is such that the conduit is the desire that cannot be like the light, it is limited in its bestowal and its form of limitation with respect to the light it is expressed as the conduit and if it didn't limit itself, if it could resemble the light in an infinite way without limit then it won't be just a pipe or a conduit it would be Ein Sof.
S. Is the limitation connected to the screen?
R. We're not talking about the screen but let's say so.
Ohr Pnimi “This is the meaning of the words in the Zohar...”(19:22 - 21:31)
41. R. He gives us all of the definitions here so what are we talking about in general? It is the will, the will was created through the four discernments of direct light then it is restricted and reduced and according to its measure of adaptation to the light to bestow it allows the light to fill the circle as it was before, but through a tiny sector called the line. To the extent that it can become more similar to the light it expands, the less it can be like the light it restricts, constricts, but the main thing is to maintain equivalence of form between it and the line, meaning the will to bestow of the light and the will to bestow of the line, the desire, will be to the same measure.
42. S. (22:32) What does it mean that there is a restriction on the Behina Dalet in the measure of the circles?
R. The restriction was done when they were still vessels in the circles but after the restriction when there is a decision to receive only according to the equivalence of form, then the vessels of Yosher, directness, or a straightness are formed. The restriction was only in the circles of course without any limitation for all of the circles, it's not in the way of an angle or an acute angle, it was round in every direction that is what we learned.
S. What does it mean that the light makes the restriction and doesn't spread to Behina Dalet?
R. After the restriction the light keeps exactly the laws of the restriction, the Creator accepts the decisions of the created beings, if they are towards the purpose of creation and it takes it upon himself these limitations. The light doesn't come and break your vessel, the vessel limits itself , it wants to be in equivalence of form with the Creator, fine, the light will fulfill only the vessel that is in equivalence of form with it.
43. S. (24:15) What equivalence of qualities is there between Kav and the light?
R. It is considered that we need to reach a state that the will to bestow of the vessel will be the desire in equivalence of form to bestow to the light and to the extent they are equivalent they will connect. The purpose of the creation of the vessel is to become like the light, that it will become unlimited in bestowal.
44. S. (25:15) What does it mean that we build the line with respect to the Creator, that we turn our desire into a Tzinor.
R. From the group which is a circle that we want to connect between us and in the group everyone is equal like Rabash says, small great it doesn't matter who or what, all of us we all want to be connected between us and mutual bestowal so that from this connection in the mutual bestowal between us we will reach out to the Creator. We will also be connected to him if we will do so, we will start feeling that the Creator shines upon us in some way but in the form of a line, only in the way that way annul ourselves one towards the other that we are connected one towards the other and that way directly ourselves all together towards the Creator. This is called working in the line.
S. What does it mean about the width of the lime is the amount of resemblance to the Creator, what is the minimum width of this line?
R. The same desire that the Creator gave us to be as one, I can't measure my desire in the meantime or the light that will shine upon me as I don't yet have the vessel, like a baby who can't measure what is happening to him and how much he eats, and drinks.
Ohr Pnimi Item 3 “The Rav’s precision with regards to the word one...”(27:11 - 28:28)
45. R. We're not talking about the three lines, Baal HaSulam didn't take into consideration if we were beginners or not, if there was room to add then he adds but we need to go according to our order. In other words, the conduit, the Kav, the restriction with what takes place with the will to receive is what we need to learn, how to resemble ourselves to this line.
46. S. (29:02) What is Yosher and Tzedek, straightness and justice?
R. Only according to our participation, are equivalence with the light so we receive the lights and then the reception of the light is called a Kav, line.
47. S. (29:27) Do we have the awareness in order to feel the light of Ein Sof? Is that because we don't have a Masach, screen?
R. When we will receive a screen we will already know how to use our Aviut, our force of resistance called a screen and then we will start feeling the upper light we will start answering contact with the upper light, feeling it, working with it and then we will start understanding all of creation. It all depends entirely upon the screen.
Ohr Pnimi Item 4 “There is a specific value that discriminates between....”(30:23 - 31:36)
48. R. In the meantime it doesn't matter to us, a lot of things here we're not going to....the matter of the water, he speaks about it here and there the light of Hassadim, Mercy is called Mayim, water this is all we need to know.
Reader continues” The Hitpashtut of the Ohr Ein Sof into the Halal....”(31:49 - 33:02)
49. R. This is after the restriction.
Reader continues “.... (33:03 - 36:06)
50. R. Yes in other words for light expanded in the same discernment the phases that were created beforehand then there was a restriction and the light expanded according to the force of the restriction to the extent that its expansion was according to these forces of restriction that it could receive it above the restriction.
51. S. (36:37) How is the common resistance previously said about the screen to the practical side built?
R. I don't know what that is, explain to me?
S. That is the expression you spoke about in reference to the screen?
R. What do you mean, common?
S. I guess it because with the circles together I didn't understand it.
R. What does it mean mutual resistance? I couldn't have said that because there is no such term, mutual resistance, second question?
S. About the term 100 gates, what is a gate?
R. 100 gates are 100 blessings it is the definition and the will to receive which is in order to bestow this is called a hundred Gates, 100 is all of the Aviut of the entire Kli.
S. When we get a screen we will know how to use our coarseness our force of resistance which is called a screen then we will start feeling the upper light we will go into contact with the upper light and start feeling and working it and we will start feeling the entire creation and that is what he's asking about the common resistance.
R. Common meaning that it's between us and the upper light that through the screen we are in the state of bestowal and then to the extent that the upper light is with us in bestowal then in this mutual bestowal we open up the vessel and we can fulfill the vessel of the upper lights.
Reader Item 8 “For the meaning of the word Igul, it is called Galgal” (39:13 - 39:39)
52. R. The light that fulfills it is called Galgal, like a wheel.
Reader Item 3 “The circle is not adhesive with Ein Sof but connected to it through the line...”(39:44 - 42:01) reads twice
53. R. It is not adhered to the light of Ein Sof.
Reader Item 9 “that means that the entire life that is found in the circle...(42:10 - 42:22)
54. R. Even the outermost circle is all the light of Ein Sof and it feels the surrounding light up Infinity only feels the line that goes through it.
Reader continues “Which is regarded as a new He’arah...”(42:35 - 43:24)
55. S. What does it mean that the line fills the circle after the restriction?
R. All of the circles are the four phases of direct light they are circles and then they had a restriction that the lights departed from them. This caused the departure of the light, the restriction, then the desire decides that it continues something all the light to an extent in order to be in a form of bestowal to it, in equivalence of form with it and to the extent that it continues in order to bestow this is called a line, only in such a way the will to receive can bestow upon the Creator. The Creator wants to bestow in Ein Sof and the created being can only bestow through a line within the circles. So, this is what happens to us after the restriction that they desire in the circles becomes a desire of the Kav, line and it draws some of the light to show that it wants to bestow.
S. The question is what does it mean that it fills the circle after the restriction?
R. The light that enters through the line, through that same extent that the created being says I want to bestow just like this and no more, the light from that line also enters the circle and fulfills it, we will learn about it in a moment. What does it mean? The created being although it accepts it in the form of the line, it feels satisfaction even in all of the vessel that has been emptied because that is the extent that it can equalize itself with the Emanator and that is why it feels some kind of satisfaction, some fulfillment. Of course, it is empty from bestowal but to an extent that he is able to than he does.
56. S. (45:50) What is not clear is the order after the restriction, is there a line immediately or first there are circles?
R. First of all the circles were also before the restriction because it is a form that the Creator has created, circles are completes, they are completion, they are whole, the Creator wants to fill with the circles and the four phases of direct light are also circles that are filled after the restriction when they circles were emptied and the will to receive wants to be similar to the Creator in order to bestow and to the extent that it draws this little middle circle called the fourth phase, to the extent that it pulls and draws from it it is considered that it draws a thin line, white line? Because it has a scrutiny, to what extent can I receive in order to bestow or not, so this elected reception is called the line and in the circles that we are to start with now there is a line. And within that line the light goes through it and fulfills all of the circles as much as it can, how does it fulfill them we will see that later on. We have no more, other than the circles and the line that fulfills the circles that is all of creation and inside of that there is the worlds, the Partzufim, the Sephirot there is nothing other than that. Outside of that is the surrounding light which is the Creator himself without any relation to us, in relation to us is what is related to inside the circles.
S. So without the illumination of the line he's not talking about the circles that don't have the illumination of the line?
R. In the circles there is also the illumination of the line but we will reach it again although we spoke about it previous.
57. S. (48:44) The width of the line is different according to the degrees where it enters or is it equal every time?
R. The line is the reception of the upper light in order to bestow according to the desire and the screen that is on it. That is called a Kav, line. there are desires of circles and of Yosher, straight like a line, circles are without any calculation as was before the restriction in the four phases of direct light then there was a restriction and the decision was made that whatever is received is only through equivalence of form and that is called receiving through straightness and that form of reception is called a line.
Reader Item 10 “If it's illumination had been in all for discernment...”(49:51 - 50:21)
58. R. Even the circles would disappear in Ein Sof.
Reader Item 20 “The light that expands from Ein Sof ....”(50:26 - 52:00)
59. R. In other words if not for the returning light we would not discover after the Tzimtzum, restriction any lights just act like we don't discover the upper light. We are in the upper light that fulfills all up reality but we don't discover it's because we don't have returning light from our side to the extent that we have the returning light we will find that the direct light is clothed in it. This is what he explains to us.
60. S. (52:31) In the ten what should our preparation be to learn the study of TES?
R. We wanted to activate our minds and understand as much as we can in our mind, in our intellect because in the emotion we're not yet capable to understand in our intellect what it is talking about and that's it not to make large calculations just simply what he says here. A line, circle, definitions, that's it. So later we will have a language here of how to understand each other.
61. S. (53:24) What does it mean without the restriction we couldn't discover the direct light?
R. Because we were in a resistance to the upper light if we do a restriction then we already restrict our will to receive, not the light, we restrict our will to receive and then when we do it in order to bestow in equivalence of form in order to bestow from our side then in order to bestow from the Creator we can reveal one another.
62. S. (54:09) What reality is revealed when working with the light?
R. A reality that we are under the force of bestowal which is infinite.
63. S. (54:27) What is the wick that is burning down?
R. The wick is the force of resistance to receiving the light directly, that the host gives me and I reject it this is called a wick and then upon that I can bestow.
64. S. (55:33) The circles four discernment one into the other?
R. Also in the line there are four phases but the four phases in the line
S. The Keter of the Igulim is in the four phases of direct light?
R. It's not the same root and here it's the root of the line it's a different decision.
65. S. (56:09) My dream is to be like you one day will this dream come true?
R. If you’ll want.
S. What does it mean that the Ohr Chozer, reflected light clothes in the direct light?
R. That in the returning light, that's not correct it's the direct light is clothed in the returning light meaning on the intention from our side from the extent that I want to bestow to the host, to that extent I can receive from the host.
66. S. (57:04) The light that does not clothe in the reflected light does not exist?
R. You don't have what to grasp it with. You don't have the returning light, we can see spirituality only to the extent that we formed a returning light if we don't stabilize it, meaning the restriction, the screen and the returning light, if we don't do that we don't feel that it exists.
67. S. (57:49) The clothing of the reflected light rises by the Zivug dHakaa, coupling of the striking and this is called connection, how is this related to the ten?
R. Also in the ten we connect by each one restricting their ego and wanting to bestow upon the others, then to the extent of mutual bestowal between us we stabilize ourselves to bestow upon the Creator and we reveal the Creator by that.
S. So our whole business is reflected light in the ten?
R. Only reflected light is all you need and in this you will see it all.
Reader Item 30 “The reason for it is that there isn't a Masach...”(58:41 - 1:00:01)
