Daily Lesson (Afternoon), March 14, 2024

Baal HaSulam. Shamati, 103. “Whose Heart Makes Him Willing.”

Reader: Hello, we are studying the articles of Shamati of Baal HaSulam. Today we'll learn from Shamati 103, “Whose Heart Makes Him Willing.” Study materials can be found online in Sviva Tova and the Arvut systems.

Reading: (00:20) Shamati 103, Whose Heart Makes Him Willing.

In the verse, “from every man whose heart makes him willing, you shall take My donation.” This is the meaning of “the substance of a donation from sanctity.” In other words, how does one come to a state of offering? Through sanctity.

This means that if one sanctifies oneself with the permitted, he thus comes to a state of donation, which is the Shechina [Divinity], called “my donation.” This is the meaning of “of every man whose heart makes him willing,” all of his heart, meaning if he donates all of his heart, he is rewarded with My donation, to adhere to the Shechina.

In the verse, “in the day of his espousals and in the day of the gladness of his heart,” espousals mean being of inferior degree, which is lowliness. If a person takes upon himself to serve the Creator in a state of lowliness, and at the same time he is happy with this work, this is an important degree, and then one is called “a bridegroom” of the Shechina.

Re-reading source article: (2:12) Whose Heart Makes Him Willing.

If a person takes it upon himself to serve the Creator in a state of lowliness, and at the same time he is happy with this work, this is an important degree, and then one is called “a bridegroom” of the Shechina.

Reader: (04:11) What does it mean, his whole heart?

M. Laitman: With all heart is to the extent that he feels that this is all his heart, desires, thoughts, everything that is in his heart. This is the way he feels that his whole heart, it turns to the Creator.

Reader: Also, in the heart, all sorts of?

M. Laitman: What?

Reader: All sorts of things that are not?

M. Laitman: Not directed at the Creator, that is clear. This is true for each person until they reach final correction. These parts of the heart, of the soul, that disagrees with this work, or maybe agree in principle, but not prepared to be literally in body and soul with the Creator, in self-sacrifice when one doesn't want anything apart from giving himself, all of himself, and there are many states.

Reader: What do I give Him?

M. Laitman: What does this give, what do you give?

Reader: What I give to the Creator, that's what I have in the heart.

M. Laitman: Prayer, this is the ideal place, the best place for prayer. When I give everything, I see that, all in all, I haven't reached adhesion with the Creator. To be in a state when I am in, truly so close to each other. Then I have a place for true prayer. These are very special states when we expect this, and maybe we do not, are not conscious of this, but inside of our hearts, this already has its place. But for now, this has not bloomed in us, this Hissaron, this deficiency, what can you do? What the mind does not do, time does, then we just have to continue, and the Creator will set up a salvation for us.

Question (Kyiv): (07:35) What does it mean to adhere wholeheartedly to that point?

M. Laitman: I do not know how to express this with words, our words are very weak. We do not have a spiritual force so that we could say something and so that others could feel it. All the more with translation and all the other obstacles, I do not know what to say. We have to ask the Creator to give to other hearts the feeling that I want to be in them.

Student: What does it mean, another heart?

M. Laitman: Well, from heart to heart, as we say, all in all, it goes through the Creator. My heart cannot enter, squeeze into a different heart, and feel and pass something on. Everything that is done is done from my heart through the Creator to other hearts. The Creator is, as if, at the center of the connection between us. Only through Him can we be in connection.

Student: How should I connect with my friends in the Ten through the Creator?

M. Laitman: Ask to connect you with them, anyway, you can ask to be connected with them. But you'll see very soon that this connection is more external than what goes through the Creator.

Student: In other words, in my feelings there are the friends, and what's the correct thing, for the Creator to also be there?

M. Laitman: Of course, always and everywhere, the Creator has to be between us, then we will have a true contact.

Student: What’s added, let's say I feel my friends, the Ten, their hearts, their aspirations, their deficiency. What's added to this feeling when the Creator is revealed between us?

M. Laitman: Instead of today's connection, the current connection, the way you feel close to each other, and you have joy, you lean on each other. It feels like each one feels the desires of the friends, in such a way, there is closeness. When you do this through the Creator, it is not getting closer, but adhesion, internal adhesion, when all the feelings, all the thoughts, everything comes one to another. That is why everything is intertwined and that is why this state is called Zivug, coupling.

Student: This is a Zivug with the friends, or with the Creator?

M. Laitman: With the friends, with the Creator, it does not matter. Quality connection, inner connection, is built on inner connection between the parts of the creation is called a Zivug.

Student: How do my thoughts reach a desire to be in a Zivug with the friends?

M. Laitman: Between you there is always the Creator, He is the connecting fabric between you.

Student: (12:18) Our words aren't always capable of passing everything that we feel, like in a prayer. How besides words can we pass this to the Creator?

M. Laitman: You do not need anything just with your heart, open the heart, and that is it. The words do not say anything. People also need words, but the Creator does not.

Question (Karmiel): (13:02) Why does he depict the day, the wedding day, the espousal day, as something inferior if it's a joyous day?

M. Laitman: He talks about this because the groom is one who came down in level, because he comes down to the bride, and that is why it's called. And also the day of the wedding, is when the bride goes down, the woman, to accept her and live a life together.

Question (PT29): (13:55) It’s written here about the lowliness, that “if a person takes it upon himself to serve the Creator in a state of lowliness, and at the same time he's happy with this work, this is an important degree.” What is that state of lowliness, and how do we work in lowliness?

M. Laitman: When he is ready to accept all the actions, conditions, limitations, only to come to please the Creator. There is not any work he cannot accept, but he accepts it with joy, even though this is the worst, the dirtiest work in life. He is prepared to accept it and give in order to give pleasure to the Creator.

Question (Women Turkiye 5): (15:29) If you wanted, you could give us all the information at once. But I see that you're giving it little by little according to our level. What is the purpose here if you can explain it?

M. Laitman: So that you can swallow, see how we do it with the babies, a bit more, a bit more water, a bit more milk. Give him a bit more until he grows up and can receive more, the same with you. I do not have any other opportunity.

Question (Women ITA): (16:20) Does the whole heart that's yearning in lowliness and wants to work in joy, does the heart receive fulfillment in the same desire, or in a different desire?

M. Laitman: In the same desire.

Student: The Creator is all, and the Creator begins to handle every action, we are in the middle with Him?

Reader: The Creator is everything, and the Creator is also in each and every action. Where are we, there in the middle, where are we in this picture?

M. Laitman: We are not there; this question is wrong.

Question (Women Brasil): (17:53) Our sacrifice is to pass to the Creator our egoistic nature and to ask of Him to invert us into His partners through the restriction and changing our desires into altruistic?

M. Laitman: Correct, correct.

Question (Women MAK 51): (18:24) In the second paragraph it says, what is that action to do in the permitted?

M. Laitman: To use what we can, what is possible.

Student: Is there a way to sanctify oneself in the forbidden?

M. Laitman: No.

Question (Women MAK 48): (19:07) You already partially answered Kyiv about Divinity. But is there a difference between adhering to the Creator versus Divinity?

M. Laitman: This we will go through, for now, not.

Question (Women Latin): (19:43) How do we reach that state of the sacrifice?

M. Laitman: We will study this, but not now.

Question (Women MAK): (20:00) It turns out that if a certain Reshimot is awakened in the desire and in its time you correct it in the connection with the friends, then you can come to serving the Creator with joy?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Ideally, we need to come to a state that the feeling of the connection with the Creator pulls out of any state joy from serving Him?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Another question from the Ten. In the Ten the correction of this common desire depends on how each one goes through the state in joy or in suffering?

M. Laitman: In the Ten it depends on each one, everyone together.

Student: Does it depend on the state that a friend is, if she's realizing that state in joy or in suffering?

M. Laitman: It does depend.

Student: Then does suffering always bring correction, or can a desire be not processed and then the common desire is not realized?

M. Laitman: It can be.

Student: How do we help friends to rise above this state so there'll be in a habit to work the Creator out of joy?

M. Laitman: Give an example.

Question (Women MAK 56): (21:24) What happens to a person who is in adhesion with the friends and with the Creator? What changes in a person's perception?

M. Laitman: He sees the whole spiritual Kli in connection with the Creator and moves farther towards the goal of creation.

Question (Women MAK 98): (21:56) Question, how should we act if we are being lowered because you're trying and you're giving to others and you're told that you're unworthy because you're not here as long as I am. What to do, should we remain in lowliness, or continue in joy to change something?

M. Laitman: Agree with this.

Question (Women Turkiye 7): (22:40) In our life we have this unhappiness. How can we advance by giving happiness and joy to the friends without reflecting these states of unhappiness?

M. Laitman: This way we will come from sorrow to common joy.

Question (Women MAK 67): (23:09) It's written from one's whole heart, how do we correctly work in a state when the friends seemingly punish themselves out of this shame, being inadequate?

M. Laitman: You should show them a good example.

Question (Women Kavkaz 1): (23:45) I want to ask you, what does the time in descent depend on and how do we shorten it, should we shorten it? Maybe we need to find the connection with the Creator not just when you're in an ascent but in a descent, the Creator is also there?

M. Laitman: From the descent, we should ascend.

Student: What does it depend on, what do we need to do?

M. Laitman: This depends on the person. He should as fast as possible, sing, read, pray, do anything to rise above this state.

Student: We don't need to search for the Creator in a descent, right?

M. Laitman: You will not find Him there.

Student: In that place where I don't feel my lowliness, in that state it means that I'm maximally bestowing, but new vessels open up which I didn’t feel before so I couldn't work with it before?

M. Laitman: Check again and again, the main thing is to lower your nose.

Student: What is the possibility to work with it?

M. Laitman: Do not be proud.

Question (Women Lithuania): (25:44) Can we ask about the point in the heart? We say that whoever and whom it awakened, they came to Kabbalah. But in the last lessons there's this feeling that the point in the heart is awakened, then when from the contact with the light, it starts to feel what world it's in and that desire to adhere to the Creator that it has in it. It attracts the light, and then the light develops it, and takes it out of the impure world to the world of holiness. Are these the stages of the point in the heart awakening?

M. Laitman: Yes, yes, these are different stages.

Student: Where am I in that, am I the point in the heart or do I need to follow the point in the heart?

M. Laitman: You are together with the point in the heart.

Question (Women Turkiye 10): (27:01) Sometimes being with the friends and feeling close to them is like seeing a star falling in the sky. It's very happy but it seems to be slipping away. How can I keep this star in the sky for longer?

M. Laitman: More and more, respect the friends.

Question (Women MAK 36): (27:37) I understand that I don't have enough strength to be happy from being a Creator's slave. Although I understand intellectually that my joy needs to be from that. How in my particular correction, how do my particular states influence the friends when I'm in suffering?

M. Laitman: It does affect, I cannot describe how, but it does.

Student: It's bad that it influences, it turns out?

M. Laitman: No, in general, we are developing.

Student: We simply need time, right?

Question (Women Turkiye 7): (28:34) How can a person connect himself to the group if his desire to receive overcomes his desire to give?

M. Laitman: He has to work on himself in order to restrict himself and bow the head and be more included with the friends as much as possible by hiding there. Then gradually, gradually influence from them and then he will be able to perform actions by himself, meaning, prayer towards the Creator.

Question (Women Turkiye 9): (29:51) Is a person's ability to donate his heart already a reward? Should I try to describe, depict to myself, what the promised reward is here?

M. Laitman: In this, we are yet to clarify.

Question (Women Turkiye 5): (30:16) Today we are feeling very high and connected, and we really want to connect to you and the world Kli more. Our question is, it's written, “if a person sanctifies oneself in what is permitted.” What does it mean to sanctify oneself in what is permitted?

M. Laitman: He wants to approach the Creator and have common vessels between him and the Creator in what he's able to give to the Creator.

Question (ITA): (31:29) From heart to heart, we come to the Creator. What is the Creator, it's a big heart or the light that gives Hochma?

M. Laitman: It is light.

Question (Latin 12): (32:03) How to succeed so that in our spiritual group there would be more joy?

M. Laitman: You need to work on this, more joyous occasions, more songs, to speak more about the greatness of the goal, and then the joy will come.

Question (Women MAK 97): (32:36) Is it correct to say that the only gift to the Creator can be an action of bestowal, and the only sacrifice is a sacrifice of one's ego?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Hadera 1): (32:58) When we say that the Creator comes down to the Malchut, then it's clear that he is Hatan, the bride. But when we say that a person goes down, do we say that he goes down from the height of his ego, he diminishes it?

M. Laitman: We are not talking about this, we are talking only about the Creator.

Student: A person comes to a Malchut?

M. Laitman: I am telling you that such a state does not happen. We are just attaching ourselves to the Creator and with Him together.

Question (PT 29): (33:54) I know that there are conditions that if someone does something he receives. Here it says that if he's awakened with all his heart, then he is rewarded with adhering to the Shechina. What does it mean that a person sacrifices his whole heart without the desire to receive in return, and the Creator does give in return, without connection to what is done?

M. Laitman: Well, it is such a state, we will reach it, and we'll see how it truly works together.

Question (ITA): (34:40) I wanted to ask when I come to a state of darkness, I feel a complete disconnection from the group. What action can I do in order to help the friends?

M. Laitman: You need to see their state, and in all the states that they are in. You then, all in all, need to see with your vessel, with your vision, by what you can help them.

Question (Women MAK 67): (35:37) We are young Tens, which is why we have questions like this. Should we not be worried about disconnecting? Is it true that we shouldn't worry about being an example or hide ourselves?

M. Laitman: Under no circumstances, no, we should not be afraid and hide. No, show everyone good examples.

Question (Turkiye 3): (36:23) How can I connect my heart to your love?

Student: The friend is asking: My heart is in the hands of the Creator, and my address to the Creator depends on the whole system. How can I connect my heart to this flow of love, current of love?

M. Laitman: You will see in how much it connects, it is inside there, it goes through a sea of love, a river of love. You can receive from there as much as you want, it is enough in order to correct all of your desires.

Question (Women ITA): (37:25) The question is when the heart feels, when the heart desires fulfillment, is this a state when the heart can get closer to sanctity?

M. Laitman: Yes, from every state the heart can come closer to holiness, every state. We just need to ask in every state that would be for the Creator to bring us closer, even more to Him.

Question (Women Kavkaz 1): (38:20) If I shouldn't be proud, full of myself and try to pass on the light, how can this reception happen in a way that I don't notice. That I register this only after this happened. Do I have any opportunity to do something in the moment?

M. Laitman: You do not have any possibility, we will still go through these things separately, it is still early for that. We do not have the vessels in order to hold the light, to attract it, to invert it, to direct it. We still do not have these vessels, we are still like little kids, we cannot work with it.

Question (Women MAK 56): (39:20) High ego resists the state of lowliness, it wants to be in a state of worthy actions?

M. Laitman: No, high ego wants only for itself.

Student: I'd like to continue. To pass on the light from the lowliness to joy, can this be a quality of a true righteous man?

M. Laitman: No, for what is he passing the light?

Student: For the Creator?

M. Laitman: If for the Creator, then yes.

Question (Women MAK 42): (40:10) Is it correct to yearn to a state where you don't associate yourself with the evil inclination?

M. Laitman: Correct.

Question (ITA): (40:27) How can I help the friends that don't have the strength to be in the lessons, the strength to join our gatherings? How do I connect my heart to their heart, how do I give them the strength?

M. Laitman: We need nonetheless to arrange the time such that there will be a connection between you, and everyone will learn. Read certain things, speak, and read certain things towards which your heart will connect, without this, it is impossible. You need to find the time when you are speaking to each other, and mainly that you are reading something from our sources. In this way they will connect, it is a must.

Question (Women Moscow 6): (41:35) The Creator is at the center of the connection between us. How do we learn to interact in the Ten only through the Creator so that through the habit this would become a feeling?

M. Laitman: Yes, that was a question?

Student: How to make this turn from theory to practice?

M. Laitman: Do you aspire for, insist for, it to happen? Press on yourself, it will work for you. Not just on others, but on yourself.

Question (Women Ukraine 2): (42:20) How to be fully included in the friend, how to connect to his heart?

M. Laitman: You put a little bit more of your heart into it more and more. If it does not work, try crying.

Student: Cry about what?

M. Laitman: Think about it yourself.

Student: Do I understand correctly that I can find in my heart some pain? For example, my ego, and turn it upside down to bestow to the friend? I can cry about this and direct the strength of this pain to the friend?

M. Laitman: Yes, in general, you need to try, you need to try to work with the heart. And then it will start to be felt what we need to do.

Student: Another question. How do we find this place that is prepared for correction in my heart?

M. Laitman: It will be there within that pain, within that request. It will as if poke your heart.

Question (Women Spain): (44:05) A spiritual unity that grows cannot get spoiled?

M. Laitman: No.

Question (Women English 1): (44:16) I wanted to add to what ITA was saying. It's very heavy on my heart and I've held back for years now. I'm in lowliness a lot because I cannot get my Ten to participate. They don't come to the meetings, they don't come to the lessons. I've tried everything that I can, I've exerted as much energy and example. I don't know what else to do and the only thing that brings me out of it and back into joy, is the Creator?

M. Laitman: You need to gather them and ask them, so how will we advance if we are so sealed, blocked up towards each other, what to do? Ask them.

Student: I have, I have, I can't give them the importance.

M. Laitman: They are all this way?

Student: Yes, maybe one isn't, but the rest of the Ten yes?

M. Laitman: They come to our lessons?

Student: No, and when they do come, they don't stay?

M. Laitman: So it could be that you need to search for another place, another Ten. Because according to what I hear there is no society there, there is no system, people are not connected to each other.

Student: I don't know what else to do, I didn't even want to say this, I don't like to complain?

M. Laitman: It is not a matter of complaining, you simply need to think that we, all in all, we have a very limited amount of time in order to correct the soul, in order not to just reincarnate again. For each and every person needs to think that if he already received the desire to correct the soul, then he should correct it as much as possible.

Question (Women Moscow 5): (48:07) The question is when we're in the lesson, we feel an elevated state. How can we give this at least a little bit to the world, and what is this point for work in the Ten?

M. Laitman: It is your heart; you need to take it and fill up your heart. Then out of your heart to gradually, as if to spread this feeling across the whole world.

Student: When we include ourselves in the Ten, is this preparation for our future work in the world?

M. Laitman: Yes, of course it's like that.

Question (Tbilisi): (49:06) I want to open my heart to you in the sense that when you say do this or that, different exercises in order to annul yourself before the friends, to connect, to become like one heart. I don't succeed in anything. I only need the Creator, only He can do this. I've come to this; I'm prepared to give myself to the Creator so that He does anything He wants. Just to place the hearts, the friends' hearts, in my heart, is this correct?

M. Laitman: Yes, absolutely correct. So ask the Creator about it, non-stop.

Question (Women Hebrew 2): (50:19) I wanted to ask about the topic of how to work in the Ten. I think that I've been rewarded with something, I want to ask about this. If we see the Ten as our first nine Sephirot, this means this is my soul. Then I, in essence, take responsibility for everything that happens in the Ten. It seems to my ego that something is wrong, I say there's something wrong with me. This changes the approach to the friends. It's as if there's a different person, and I look at my friends with different eyes, and I see that everything is my fault, that I am lazy, very lazy. And this gets in the way. Is this approach, is this a healthy approach?

M. Laitman: Yes, this is also the correct, great approach, yes.

Question (Women MAK): (51:50) How do we grow a Kli of bestowal that's big enough so that the Creator notices it and can fill it up from lesson to lesson? And we see the importance of a variety of other things, not only bestowal. What can we do? What kind of exercise do we have for this?

M. Laitman: Specifically, bestowal. You need to pay special attention to it and aspire to it because, specifically in that quality, you will feel the Creator. Not in anything else, specifically in bestowal.

Student: May I ask another question?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: To continue, a friend from a women's English group about the work in the Tens. There are Tens, where one or two friends are working actively, and the group connects as much as possible. There are people who have children, obstacles, different obstacles, work. How to work with, how should these active friends work that are dragging, pulling the Ten and they don't know how to work in these situations? What can you recommend?

M. Laitman: I recommend to continue and continue, and continue to connect yourself more friends so that as a result they will form a good vessel. This will be, to do it gradually and also to ask the Creator about it each time a bit, and also tell me occasionally.

Student: Connecting other friends, is this adhesion of the Tens, connecting with other Tens, with other Tens or the active friends?

M. Laitman: No, you don't need Tens, where do you have Tens from?

Question (Women PT 33): (54:29) You said to a friend that we have to build the time, set up the time to read together so that our hearts would unite. Find the time to discuss this, and first and foremost read the sources, that's compulsory. We have a meeting at the end of the day when we read an article and we discuss. It's not that you said here, it's as if we do some sort of impressions without clarification, more briefly. Is this what you mean or should we dedicate time to it?

M. Laitman: No, as much time as you have, it is enough, it is enough. Also, as is, you are doing what is necessary, and you are advancing. Especially the women are advancing greatly.

Question (Bulgaria 1): (55:53) Dear Rav, did I understand correctly that we really have to fight the evil inclination but in no case should I try to associate with the evil inclination, to try to be similar to it?

M. Laitman: Yes, correct, good luck.

Question (Women ITA): (56:33) The question is this: We're truly together with the Creator when we come to a state in faith and prayer, should we come to this?

M. Laitman: I think yes, if I understood you.

Question (Women MAK 25): (57:01) To continue what the friends from England asked. In terms of participation with the lessons, should we try to clarify questions, clarify this question of participation? Or should we just try to have a warm atmosphere to attract the friends?

M. Laitman: I think we need both this and that. But the main thing is the importance of the friends, the importance of the Creator, the importance of the path, the importance of the ascent, such that we will always move forward. Okay?

Question (Women Spain): (58:00) The question is what includes our actions, is it blows or the root of our soul?

M. Laitman: Is it blows or the root of our soul? We need both this and that, both this and that.

Question (Women Turkey 7): (58:40) Advancement in modesty in the work, is that proportional to the strength of our screen?

M. Laitman: Yes, one to one. I hope that soon we will somehow arrange a Congress and we will see each other throughout several days. We'll be together and we will rise together higher towards the Creator. I wish you all the best, kisses to everyone.
