1. R. And only after the line appeared and the restriction, and with respect to the restriction all the discernments in the general will to receive began to fall into place, then you can say that there are higher desires and lower desires. And then everything began to become organized according to the coarseness and oppositeness to the light, but not before. That’s why he says before the illumination of the line Phase 4 did not regard herself as thick and low because there is contained the true great will to receive. 3. R. (03:48) Meaning the restriction was not because of the inferiority of the lower one toward the other one, the Creator. It was because he did not want to agree with being different from the Creator because he wanted to raise himself to a degree closer to the Creator. That is why there was no inferiority there.

4. S. (04:18) Something I don't understand about the previous line: how to even understand that there was no difference between Malchut, phase 4, it was not course? There are differences between us before the restriction?

R. There's a difference between who is giving and who is receiving but both the giver and receiver are not in in disparity of form yet, there is no difference between this and that, no difference, it's just light by the upper force. Is there a difference between the baby in the mother? Of course she's the one doing everything, taking care of everything and the baby is just lying down and demanding treatment. But there is no difference in the sense that they’re so interconnected there is no difference to be covered, no negative discernments between them. Just like baby needs the mother, mother needs the baby.

S. What does it mean that later…

R. Afterwards we will see. Afterwards the difference is made between the degrees, between the states and then in each and every state there is an impression from the state itself, the will to receive, the will to bestow, the attitude to the Creator. That’s when there is an impression within the created being. If we are talking from the side of the Creator, from the Creator’s side we're all equal, there is no difference between us. Great and small, good and bad, on the Creator's part there is none of that. It's all under his control, it’s all in his light. He is giving it to us in a way that we feel differences in ourselves and then we come to a state where we are all equal and we are equal to him. But it's not that the Creator looks at one as worse and  another one as better.

S. Also for us in our work in the ten we can feel the difference, where there is just work between us but also to have work toward the Creator?

R. When you reach a state where the group is the upper one to all of you, you will feel that the upper force lies in the group and you will activate yourselves toward that. You have to build the Creator. You have to arrange the group that in it the power that you will form will be as the Creator, and there is no Creator without the created being which means without a group.

S. Then will we be able to measure ourselves?

R. Of course, then you will be able to weigh and measure all of your actions, your deeds and your intentions, everything towards the Creator which you have formed. Meaning the common force that you establish in the ten, that is your Creator, and you will be able to turn to it and reveal it and see that He precedes you, even though you have discovered Him and built Him. Meaning you’ve built the Kli to reveal Him but He in truth is eternal and already there.

5. S. (08:34) Please explain to us the expression. The restriction was not a result of the disparity of form, it did not occur due to the disparity of form.

R. There was no inferiority in terms of the receiver towards the giver. He wanted to achieve the equivalence but not due to being lowly. We will discuss that more later on.

6. S. (09:15) I understand that it is a great desire that comes from a great desire from the will to receive, to want to be the giver, to want to be the bestower. But this act of the restriction, wasn't it very prideful, a prideful act, a very arrogant act?

R. No. No, the gap between the degrees was not yet felt.

R. Phase four is fulfilled only by fulfilling the first three phases. In it there is only an expansion of light of Hassadim. We will learn that, the whole wisdom of Kabbalah is about that.

11. S. (13:02) Can you explain what is an empty place when the fourth phase did not receive?

R. The will to receive that can't fill itself up is called an empty space.

S. I'm sorry not empty place, empty space, a state where there’s no light. I don't understand that.

R. What do you mean I don't understand a state where there is no light? There is a desire, there is a desire and that desire can't be filled, so it’s feeling is as though it is empty.

12. S. (13:52) What does it mean that phase four after the restriction is impressed by the three phases before it? In what environment does phase four exist after the restriction? What’s outside of it?

R. Phase four is the result of the first three phases, and even though she wants to receive she is impressed by the light there is in the first three phases and she does it, she receives that light through the first three phases, feeling that she's opposite to that light, making a restriction and that restriction works on her as well as the first three phases. Then they all remain empty and there is a decision that I cannot receive in myself, phase four but in the first three phases which are in order to bestow, so that it's not reception as it is in phase four. There I can receive, and then she makes that decision and continues the line. Receiving in the three phases as opposed to the fourth phase is called a line of measurement. Meaning she already receives in a limited fashion only to the extent that she can equalize herself with the light. This means that she's not using phase four, the true aspect of the will to receive but only the desires that are similar to the light, in order to bestow.

13. R. (18:13) Yes, this is what we try to do in the group to build such relationships that there will be some light in them according to the equivalence of form between the upper light and what we try to do between us. Some acts of bestowal so the light will shine among us and will bring us to a state where it organizes us like spiritual vessels, like desires in order to bestow. And then in the connection between us we will be able to feel the light according to the equivalence of form between the light and what it does with us. This is how we will discover the Creator.

14. R. (19:17) Meaning to the extent that we try to connect among us above the ego, the personal ego of each of us, we connect our vessels and it is all done by the reforming light. This is called wanting to connect among us, this is called good deeds. How do we connect? Through the reforming light, the light of Torah which shines on us. Then by this we come to the holy names where connection between us will be in order to discover the Creator.

15. S. (20:00) In 88, where does the desire to receive have a need to resemble the light?

R. Because the light fills the will to receive and conveys to the will to receive its form of bestowal as well in phase two, and because of it the will to receive feels how opposite it is from the light and it receives from it a yearning to reach the form of the light. And because of it it performs the restriction and acquires the screen and the reflected light and begins to build itself in a form of bestowal upon the giver, the Creator.

S. But it's not because he wanted to receive in order to receive? Where does he have the desire to bestow?

R. It all started from receiving, but because it's still receiving in a weak desire, the deserve the Creator created, so it's not on its own name. Gradually it is impressed by the light and basically operates toward the Creator with a deficiency that the Creator awakens in it. This is why it is still not a deficiency of its own from itself, but a deficiency of the Creator. Like a baby toward the mother, it does not act with its own deficiency.

S. That deficiency is through the line? Or does it come before?

R. It is still not a line, it is still all circles.

S. This deficiency comes through the first three discernments?

R. Yes yes, of course, through the three previous phases.

16. S. (22:18) What does Torah in good deeds mean?

R. Torah is all the light that comes to us from the Creator in order to correct the will to receive. Good deeds are the actions of the created being who wants to be similar to the Creator to the extent that there is an awakening by the created being to be similar to the Creator. To that extent light from above comes to it, shines on it and helps it become similar to the Creator. This is called Torah.

S. Good deeds in the ten, is that to constantly prepare a vessel?

R. The efforts to connect, this is mainly good deeds. Then Torah is the light when we awaken the influence of the Creator on us to the extent that we want to connect.

17. S. (23:25) Can we see the holy names are the degrees between man and the Creator?

R. Yes, of course. All the names are only the gap between us and the Creator, the difference between us and the Creator more or less. Until we come to one name, HaVaYah, to our corrected vessel, completely corrected. That’s it.

S. How can we know which name, which degree, which state I am in?

R. Because you attain it. You feel according to your will to receive how much your will to receive is arranged and receives a filling. So the power of the desire, the form of the desire and the power of the filling and the form of the filling, when they connect together they explain to you in what connection with the Creator, in what congruence with the Creator you are in. This is called your name.

S. Yes, but it's a problem because I have a desire for bestowal, I have a tendency for bestowal and I'm working on overcoming but just ask me where I am and spirituality. Nothing is clear.

R. Because you haven't come to realize your desire yet, you're still not in the desire to bestow, not even a little. You may think you want but in practice you're not in the desire to bestow yet. Therefore you do not know where you are at, to what degree, in what you're similar to The Creator.

S. Can we say that a tendency is like an action of an angel?

R. No no no, I don't want to be confused along with you. Don't add to us these names, angel. Why do you want to confuse the friends?

S. I don't want to confuse anybody, just a tendency without an action. Can we say we are receiving deficiency but it’s not our deficiency, that deficiency is given to us from above and we will build a yearning to bestow?

R. Let's say it is, let's just say assuming.

18. S. (34:17) In Russian, the vessels of reception will get a form of bestowal and it seems like the first motion and…

R. I don't understand what you're asking. Ask clearly, one sentence.

S. Again he writes that the vessels will become the form of bestowal. It sounds like a first movement and not like a final movement. That's what it seems, how is it really?

R. I don't understand, is he asking about 92? The vessels of reception will return to the form of bestowal. So all the will to receive that the Creator created will acquire the restriction, screen and reflected light on itself and it will be as a desire to bestow. By this the created being, the will to receive achieves the form of bestowal equal to the Creator. That will be the final correction of itself, of the will to receive. By this it achieves adhesion, complete equivalence of form.

19. R. (36:30) Yes, so it's clear the Creator did it, this change and these corruptions. He did it so that the created being would correct all those corruptions and would understand as the advantage of the light from within the darkness, what is the difference between the will to receive and the intention to bestow, and in this way it will attain the Creator as the advantage of the light from within the darkness. So that out of the opposite discernment from the Creator it will come to know the Creator. That’s the way it is in every single attainment in the created being. It has to attain the opposite form and out of this come to the form that is similar. Okay?

20. S. (37:23) So it turns out that the correction of all corruptions is specifically in reaching equivalence with the Creator?

R. Yes, of course.

21. S. (37:40) But they created beings, the vessels, instead of the forms of bestowing and reforms are there more forms?

R. There is only form, to receive. Bestowal is already the form of the intention, but the form of the will to receive is always only to receive and it limits itself at what level it wants to receive, only this. It can do only this, to limit itself on the level that it can perform an act with the intention to bestow. The desire is always a desire to receive. The desire doesn’t become refined, and doesn’t change, but the created being stands with its will to receive so to put over it an intention to bestow. But the desires don’t become refined and don't change. The created being only chooses which desires to use in order to become similar to the Creator over a desire where it can place an intention to bestow. With this desire it works.

22. S. (39:14) Question: at what stage is the form of reception? Does it acquire the form of reception? Before the restriction there is one and the name is one, it’s the same form. Then the restriction isn't a result of lack of equivalence of form. So when was the form of reception acquired?

R. When the created being feels that it's opposite from the Creator it makes a restriction so as not to be opposite and then out of this it begins to advance toward the form of the Creator. Although it is opposite from the Creator in terms of its substance, in terms of its form the actual appearance of that substance, it wants to be similar to the Creator. So although it receives the form of its reception it is similar to bestowal. Because it performs a restriction and in the restriction it reveals the Creator’s desire to bestow, and then it performs such actions so the Creator can bestow. In other words as if its doing a favor to the Creator. And this is called the created being’s form of bestowal upon the Creator.

23. R. (41:27) In other words there is no other state where there is the will to receive connected with the force of the bestowal together, and they bestow upon each other and influence one another, unless at a level called this world.

24. R. (42:02) Because there is a vessel that can work with the intention to receive and the intention to bestow, and in the intention to receive in order to bestow and to bestow in order to receive. In all of these four forms the vessel works opposite from the light therefore the light that spreads in the vessel has only two forms. Either it spreads in a vessel of reception that works in order to bestow, this is called the light Hochma, light of wisdom and a light that spreads in a vessel that is only bestowing in order to bestow, this is called the light of Hassadim, light of mercy. So we have two lights, the light of Hochma and the light of Hassadim. In this way they are in four phases.

(43:19) Yes, everything comes to us from the Creator, all the desire to bestow and the desire to receive and we can already on our degrees, on our states, we can come to a state where we direct them, manage them, merge them, what merging they’ll be in receiving in order to bestow, bestowing in order to bestow or bestowing in order to receive. It all depends on the created being.

So according to our definition it’s regarded as being in this world. Desires that are with the intention for themselves but on higher levels are already called Klipot, shells. And desires that have the intention to bestow are Kedusha, holiness. It is all measured in the will to receive and the intention by which it operates.

S. So we are now in this world?

R. We are in a situation that belongs to no world, it doesn’t belong to any world.

S. So how can we perform these corrections?

R. If we receive from above, if we unite among us and receive from above the power of the light, the power of bestowal, according to this our will to receive will acquire a certain form of bestowal. Then accordingly will be able to say what state we are in, what degree toward the light of Ein Sof we are in.

S. So we’re in the preparation towards it?

R. We are in the preparation, period, correct.

28. S. (46:38) What is in the first phase that can recognize the giver?

R. In the four phases of direct light phase one feels bestowal on it from the root phase and the will to receive in it feels that it is entirely governed by the root phase.

S. Why is it not annulled before the light? How does it recognize the giver?

R. It’s not annulled because it doesn’t even have a desire that can be annulled. It’s got a desire to annul but not because of itself but because the desire is still not complete.

29. S. (47:31) Why does someone in attainment keep rising on the ladder after the body dies?

R. I do not know what you mean by death of the body because the corporeal body does not determine anything here. The body means will to receive. When it’s canceled meaning when it performs a restriction on itself and doesn’t participate, doesn't use the light with the intention to receive this is called being rid of its will to receive and shifting into working in order to bestow. This friend I think is still confused, the one who was asking.

For reading 98 (48:34)

30. R. (48:53) Yes. To the extent that the created being wants to receive, the light of wisdom shines in it. To the extent that he wants to bestow the light of Hassadim shines in it. If he already received corrections then he already has the light of Hassadim that wants to bestow and in the light of Hassadim the light of Hochma spreads.

31. S. (49:18) About these two lights, they have to be equal or should we prefer one over the other?

R. We have to yearn to have light of Hassadim for sure, the light of mercy because by this we are certain to be directed towards the Creator, we are in the quality of bestowal then. Accordingly we can also receive in order to bestow within the light of Hassadim. So the light of Hochma spreads there too, the light of Hochma.

32. S. (49:59) How from direct light the light that comes from the Creator do you get to the light of Hochma and Hassadim?

R. The direct light that spreads from the Creator is light. Afterwards according to the vessels of the created beings we distinguish if the vessels are vessels that can work only in order to bestow; then the light of Hassadim spreads in them. In receiving in order to bestow the light of Hochma spreads in them. From the Creator comes only light, one simple light, direct light. And the created being according to the power of its vessel, the intention of its vessel, with this light it differentiates between the light of Hochma and the light of Hassadim. But it’s not like it comes this way from the Creator. The created being scrutinizes the Creator's relation to it and its relation to the Creator and then determines with what it will become filled. With the bestowal of the Creator with the light of Hassadim or even with the light of Hochma.

33. S. (51:35) What does it mean to feel the light of Hassadim or the light of Hochma?

R. If the created being is with the intention to bestow only, bestowing in order to bestow, only bestowing in order to bestow then it feels the Creator. This is called being filled with the Creator, with the light of Hassadim. If the created being also received from the Creator it is called bestowing upon the Creator through an active action. Then this is called receiving from the Creator in order to bring contentment to the Creator.

S. That’s the being who feels compared to my actions in the ten or to general sensations?

R. One person, one man, one person snd when I speak I speak to everyone and therefore even though you understood in the middle of my sentence you should not interrupt me. Because I am explaining it to everyone.

34. S. (53:04) What is the difference between Yetzira and Beria?

R. The will to receive has a lot of names and it depends on what state it is in, what degree compared to the Creator. We will define all this. For now all of these names are not defined precisely.

35. S. (53:49) How is the light of Hochma felt, sensed in the created being?

R. Before the created being or after the restriction, and before the created being performs the restriction on itself it cannot relate to the Creator. If he performs a restriction on himself and obligates that all of his actions will only be to bestow back to the Creator, just like the Creator is bestowing towards him, then he can measure as much as he can perform his actions of bestowal towards the Creator. To that measure of coarseness that he decides over, so then he can receive in order to bestow or bestow in order to bestow and by that he equalizes to the Creator.

S. Before we receive in order to bestow we don’t feel the light of Hochma?

R. Correct.

36. S. (55:12) Can it be said that sensing, feeling the light of Hassadim is my relation to the friend or to the Creator?

R. Correct yes. The light of Hassadim is the light of correction, of creation. The light of Hochma is the light of the purpose of creation. As much as I can develop the light of Hassadim according to that I can receive the light of Hochma in that light of Hassadim.

37. S. (55:54) What is the difference between the name YHVH and the rest of the Holy names?

R. The name HaVaYah is a general name that includes all names. It’s Yud, Hay, Vav, Hay. It is the four degrees to the will to receive that expands from the light. The rest of the names are individual expressions of all those four degrees but HaVaYah is like the structure, the whole structure that the upper light created in the will to receive. That is why anywhere we want to call the Creator to define Him we write Yud, Hay, Vav, Hay, the name of HaVaYah. Because there is no expression to this name. It is not a vessel, it’s just a symbol of the light that works on the will to receive in such a way in order to reveal the will to receive outside the Creator. But afterwards we need an addition of names, meaning an addition of actions on behalf of the will to receive on all its four degrees 1, 2, 3, 4. Then we can express the way the light bestows on the desire and the response of the desire to the light. That is our whole business actually. The connection between Creator and the created being.

Reading 99 (58:07)

38. R. (58:27) The emanated being is always under the forces of the will to receive and here he needs to perform actions of bestowal. He has no forces like those so obviously the light that he awakens is called the light of Hassadim and is way less than the light of Hochma that comes from the Creator. But eventually we reach a state that the light of Hassadim will be equal to the light of Hochma. The created being will reach a state that he completely resembles the Creator. Then both will be in a hug of mutual bestowal.

39. R. (59:30) After phase four came out, root 1, 2, 3, 4, all those phases five phases, when they came out of the upper light then you can say that the vessel of reception was completely revealed, but especially the last discernment, the last phase, phase four.

40. R. (01:01:06) Like surrounding light, we cannot measure it. It's around the vessel but the light that is accepted in the vessel goes through a calculation: restriction, screen, reflected light on the will to receive that works. It also works on the light that enters the will to receive and fills the will to receive according to a calculation. Rosh, Toch, Sof, that’s how we measure it. That is the difference between the light that is received outside of the vessel called surrounding light and it has a lot of names and a lot of different styles, the light appearing around the vessel, around the desire. There is the light that enters the desire according to a calculation. That is already the inner light with all the NRNHY in it and all many kinds of discernments.

41. S. (01:02:03) What does it mean that it receives without, outside? How is it sensed in the vessel, or maybe it’s not sensed?

R. There are forms of reception of the light that are like surrounded light. So what is surrounding light? Do we receive it or not? So there are inner vessels and there are surrounding vessels. We’ll learn about them in the next part of TES actually. That is how we will define it. It'll be there soon.

S. The light of Hochma, is this the cause of the light of Hassadim, causes it to awaken? Is this what awakens the light of Hassadim?

R. You can say that usually yes.

S. How does it happen? It’s not clear what is in between? What happens between the light of Hochma revealing and the light of Hassadim that awakens from within it?

R. We are speaking only about the created being first of all. We’re not talking, speaking on the side, somewhere we do not know about, only towards the created beings. What is revealed, that is what we are speaking about. So if the light of Hochma is revealed towards the creative being, according to that he knows it. That there’s a Creator and that He’s bestowing to him. He created the desire in him and He appears towards that desire snd then the created being when he awakens it is clear to him that he is awakening because the Creator awakens him.

Now he needs to think. Whether he agrees with his awakening towards the Creator. Let us say the will to receive, do I want to receive or can I do something else with it? If I do something else outside of the Creator awakening me is that right? The Creator wants me to receive, He awakens a will to receive in me. Why should I restrict it and not want to receive, and want to do something towards the Creator, some action that he did not awaken me directly to do? Then the created being starts calculating. That’s why this whole wisdom is called the wisdom of receiving. How we can receive from the Creator according to our desire and according to the intentions and the different influences He awakens in us and now we are in calculations to receive, to bestow, for how, for what and so on.

S. When there is an awakening from the perspective of the Creator with the light of Hassadim and not with the light of Hochma?

R. Our desire, the desire to receive responds to the light of Hochma.

S. Only from within it can we respond?

R. Yes and when we respond we respond with the force of bestowal or the force of reception, and that also works towards the light of Hochma but our intentions are already in the light of Hassadim, that we want to bestow, to equalize in form. That happens through the light of Hassadim. We will speak about it more.

42. R. (01:06:18) We could say this, that only the cause and effect is being revealed between all phases. Then you can call them circles. That the coarseness is revealed in every phase, and then it is revealed that one comes one after the other, not from cause-and-effect but because of their coarseness. Then it is called a line, straightness.

43. R. (01:07:17) That is why even though they came out one after the other it still does not mean that one is above and one is below in the difference between degrees. Even though they come out only as cause and effect, this comes first and this comes afterwards; but not that this is more and this is less. But this came first and this came later. If it is first and later it’s circles, if it is one higher than the other it is already a line, it's actual degrees.

44. S. (01:08:06) It’s not clear how the restriction is connected to this answer. The degrees are before the restriction. The phases, the circles are before the restriction.

R. Also before and also after, it doesn’t matter. It all depends on the reason why the circles came or the straightness. Straightness comes according to coarseness. Circles come according to cause and effect.

S. How is it connected to the reason of the restriction which was not done because of the inferiority?

R. Because restriction did not come from a feeling of being inferior it came because it wanted to equalize in form. There still wasn't inferiority.

S. How is this connected to the cause and consequence?

R. What is written that you are asking about? Where is that?

S. He says why are the degrees not in circles, not regarded as one below the other before the appearance of the line? Because the restriction did not occur because of the inferiority of the disparity of form.

R. Yeah.

S. So I'm asking what is the connection between the restriction not being because of the inferiority of form and the degrees not being discerned as one below the other?

R. One depends on the other.

S. Why?

R. How do the degrees come out?

S. Degrees in circles?

R. Yes.

S. Cause and consequence.

R. Right.

S. Because of it there is no inferiority because there are no degrees?

R. No degree feels inferior to any other discernment except for it, it doesn’t feel it, there's no difference. But when there is a difference, you work from the difference.

S. When does the difference begin? When the light comes?

R. The line comes from the feeling of a difference.

S. The restriction which is part of the four phases of direct light?

R. All circles.
