Part 1:

Rabash. Article No. 27, (1990). What Is, “Every Blade of Grass Has an Appointee Above, Who Strikes It and Tells It, Grow!” in the Work?

1. S. (31:58) In the beginning of the article it says that it is known that every branch is equal to its roots and therefore everything that is customary in the root the branch too will want it and love it and covet it and all the matters that are not accustomed in the root the branch will move away from them and will also can't stand them and sofort and later it writes that the Creator is our root. My question is: why is the creator our root if our nature is a will to receive?

R. Because the root for the whole of creation is one. Even though creation is entirely the will to receive however the root for all of creation is the Creator, the will to bestow. Therefore he imparts through the whole of creation and the whole of creation actually follows what he brings down to it.

S. And because of that we kind of have his qualities? It says all the matters that are not conducted in the root the branch removes from them as well?

R. Because we are connected to our root everything that is in it feels root for us and everything that is not connected to our root that is not does not exist there we suffer because of it.

S. So in our work we become closer to our root?

R. Yes, in our work when we connect to our root we should feel ourselves each time as better and better.

2. S. (34:14) There is a distinction here between corporeal and spiritual suffering meaning that the kind of suffering that I'll feel that there are causes that I won't advance and spirituality. Is there a sign or how can a person make this distinction or it comes from above?

R. Which distinction?

S. Between corporeal sufferings that I didn't work enough, I don't have enough money, I don't have food at home, and spiritual suffering so I don't have food at home because I don't do spiritual work.

R. RIght.

S. How do I make that distinction?

R. You'll advance and see how much these things become clear there's nothing more to say here.

3. S. (35:16) Later on he says there's suffering that distracts a person from the Torah and suffering that advances a person. Why is there a need for suffering in reality to begin with to take a person to the Torah?

R. In order for him to see how much the engagement in the Torah is something that promotes him.

S. It still advances him in the end, it's not that he forgets, it does advance him?

R. Yes but in the opposite way.

4. S. (36:05) How does the Creator make the corrections in the person, how do I identify them, and how does a person know that he's working Lishma? How does the light make corrections in the person, how do I advance by these corrections that he's doing, and how does a person know that he's working Lishma?

R. He knows that he's working Lishma because he already is engaging with light and darkness.

S. How will it appear in his feelings?

R. It is expressed in his feelings.

S. An example?

R. What example can I give you, darkness means that he sees that he's far away from keeping the Torah and the light he feels that he's in it.

5. S. (37:24) He writes that before if a person is successful then he finds the deficiency where he is then he continues and this is the rule that each and every state is called upper and lower and this deficiency is called lower. That this causes him to leave the previous state and try to correct the deficiency that appears now and this is called in the work that remain in the lower one that caused an ascent of degree to the upper one, meaning to the previous state. What does it mean that the upper one is the previous state and the lower one is what? The next state?

R. It's deficiency is the next state, because the deficiency causes him to progress.

S. How does a person raise the deficiency from his work in the ten? We're supposed to be the greatness to the friends not their deficiency so?

R. Well precisely by discovering each time failures, problems, flaws in our states it helps us to rise to a higher degrees.

S. It says that a judge has no more than his eyes to see and he takes that as a deficiency to advance to the closest degree of Lishma?

R. That's right.

6. S. (39:06) Also from the same quote; if this person is successful he finds a deficiency in his state, what determines the success of the person, the root of his soul?

R. The success of the person depends on him and on his environment and the root of the Soul.

7. S. (39:37) I wanted to ask about this matter that there's no blade of grass below it the doesn't grow without this force from above, so what's on this level if everything's done to you from above, what do you have left?

R. To understand the commands that come down from above, to connect with them and go along with them to receive this command of grow.

S. So what is actually the process that we go through, it's a process that you, what are coming to the recognition of what's being done to you?

R. That too, the recognition of what is done and also why is it done, for what purpose, and who is exactly doing it. There are many factors here that you need to discover, that you need to get to know, that you rise to their degree.

S. Yes, but so I'm trying to understand what is done from below if everything's done to you from above and what are you doing?

R. You agree to receive this guidance with your heart and soul and to continue in this way.

S. So the agreement that's what is the Creator leads us to, to agree?

R. To agree, to accept above reason all of the actions that you are going through so then through your

agreement above reason you can rise to a higher degree.

S. It's clear, it's just that it turns out that ultimately all the actions you have left they're internal. it's not things that you can move with your hands and legs it's all internal to agree and….?

R. Yes, yes, you don't like to do anything with your hands but only agreement and disagreement.

S. It's clear. So why is this illusion that you're doing everything?

R. I don't think that someone who is already practically in his actions that he actually thinks this way.

S. Maybe I'm not asking correctly but we do have the illusion that you're doing things and not that everything is done to you. In retrospect you see that it's done to you but?

R. There's a part of the work that it seems to you that you're doing it, however each time you discover that it is done on you, even the things that are seemingly against.

8. S. (43:16) To continue that: he says the whole reason for the restriction and concealment is to have choice but ultimately there's no place of choice because if it's not the pleasure then it's the suffering but it's not the person is choosing also the thoughts that he lacks spirituality also comes from above?

R. But one choice is to accept it that it comes from above.

S. So all the matter of choice is basically only to agree or not agree that the Creator is working on me?

R. Yes.

S. And he talk about us as a society, the work in the society is to build a deficiency to the importance.

R. That’s true yes.

S. Is that our work or is it not?

R. Yes, and that each one shall help his friend, that we have to keep the friends, and help each and every one to complete the deficiency in him.

S. Even though it all it's already all written from above?

R. I don't know what is written above.

S. He says it in the article that the if the appointee says grow it grows otherwise he doesn’t?

R. Yes, it all comes from this reason that he's told grow but it's not that I all see it and I understand it.

9. S. (45:00) Rabash writes in the article about suffering of love. How can you feel in the suffering the love of the Creator?

R. That I cannot answer them for the time being so it's called, torments of love.

10. S. (45:25) It says in the end here that there's a cane with which he beats it so what does that mean?

R. Suffering.

S. And to continue he also writes about every blade of grass how do the blades of grass receive the suffering through the man that evolves?

R. I don't know what you mean. The blades of grass, what are they?

S. Thoughts and tensions, there's also grass that is around us, which is the previous development until it comes to the human development?

R. So what is the question?

S. The question is how does that grasp besides the man becomes a man who wants to resemble the Creator and already has a different connection, how does that grass receive the suffering from the beatings from the upper force?

R. From the Creator. He gets strikes from the Creator and he moves it, passes it on to the man.

S. And the beating of nature is the Creator's work?

R. Yes.

11. S. (47:05) So the suffering of love if I grasp it correctly it came to advance me can I say gratitude for that, I can strengthen my connection with the group and the study. We also see states throughout the years where friends received this kind of suffering and they didn't see it as a suffering of love. It pushes the person away and takes them out of the study and so forth. I'm asking what's the difference, what promises that the person will grasp the suffering correctly to advance?

R. Suffering guarantees that but only in the environment. He has to prepare himself in the environment to accept the suffering in the right way. It's like how you calibrate a musical instrument, it all depends on how it is calibrated correctly.

S. Meaning to have the key to the right relation to the suffering is the group.

R. Yes, the society brings a person all of the desire and thoughts and intentions in a way that if he accepts all of it then he rises to the degree of the society, the degree of the environment in this way each time more and more. Meaning our calibration towards the society is the safest calibration. Now you might say that if this individual is higher than the environment he cannot be greater in his development because in order to rise to a higher degree he has to borrow from them, how should I put it, their rules, and by ascending to them he will ascend. This is how it works. It's like the ascent gives him the right chord, in music how do you call it, a cord, he's given a chord and he feels where inside this chord he's off tune. Then he has to find exactly his place. This is why each time I equalize within the environment and it doesn't matter which environment he's in, this is his place of work. This means that each time our work in the environment is to be as much as possible incorporated in the environment.

12. S. (50:40) So how do you move from corporal suffering to spiritual suffering?

R. That too is through the same things that we now talked about. That I want to be in the right place in the environment and then from corporeal suffering which is individual suffering of a person usually I shift to spiritual suffering and then to spiritual harmony. Spiritual harmony is already the attainment of the Creator.

13. S. (51:22) Does the Creator create a state of suffering in the created being only to save him?

R. Yes because it’s not suffering. When he begins to recognize what the suffering is calling him to he no longer sees it as suffering.

14. S. (51:46) The ending of the article is that man is the speaking degree, meaning that it doesn't take the nourishment of the animal to himself but the nourishment that is suitable for the speaking degree. What does it mean to take the animal or the food of an animal?

R. Whatever he wants to take for himself in order to eat and grow fat, that's it.

15. S. (52:17) If I feel during the day that prayer is the most important thing in the world but in practice when I try to pray I can't do anything, what am I doing in that state?

R. If one doesn't have words for a prayer, if one doesn't have a depiction for the prayer so that he cannot recognize, he can't see, he cannot depict to himself the correct state of the ten in their connection, then he has to think about it. He has to think about it, to depict it in this way, that way and to get closer to the friends.

16. S. (53:17) Can we say the spiritual suffering comes through the ten?

R. Spiritual suffering comes from the Creator and you might say that it comes from the ten because the Creator, all in all, is always depicted to us as the one who shares with the ten, connects the ten. So it's correct, it's okay.

S. And corporeal suffering?

R. Corporeal suffering is the opposite of it. That I don’t understand our spiritual goal and I don't have any inclination towards it and therefore this is how I am.

S. That's in order to reach that inclination?

R. In corporeal suffering I might reach some spiritual suffering but that already depends not only on me but on the environment that establishes for me each time, imposes my lack of spiritual congruence in the right form.

17. S. (55:00) He writes that spiritual suffering is that you raise the importance of spirituality, you suffer from not having it. So it turns out that if I don't engage in that then automatically the corporeal suffering advances me because he has to have suffering in order to advance. So it's either corporeal suffering or you raise importance and..?

R. You're right in something, yes.

18. S. (55:39) About the connection between the upper and the lower it says that this is called in the work that the main Nukvin of the lower one would cause an ascent to the degree of the upper one, meaning the previous state. What's the connection here? Why does it cause the ascent of the upper one, why does the main Nukvin of the lower one cause the ascent of the upper one?

R. Because he wants to raise the upper one. He wants to raise the upper one and therefore this is what he does.

S. And if he raises Mayin Nukvin and thinks about his ascent can that be as well?

R. But his own ascent depends on how much the upper one will be higher in his eyes.

19. S. (56:43) In the ten and in the environment we work on the greatness of the Creator, the importance of spirituality and on our yearning towards spirituality. How is the transition created where suddenly we start to suffer because of our lack? It says here in the article that it comes from above but nevertheless maybe there is something where in our work we can awaken the suffering because we're not bestowing to the Creator?

R. I don't understand.

S. Is there anything we can do in the ten besides increasing the importance of spirituality and the yearning for spirituality in order to awaken the suffering, the torments of love?

R. If you discuss this in the ten then surely each and everyone will be impressed by that.

S. About the torments of love that we suffer because we are not..Can we be envious of each other because of that?

R. Yes, envy, lust and honor take a person out of this world meaning out of this degree to a higher degree.

20. S. (58:11) Where is the connection between corporal suffering and spiritual suffering?

R. Can't say. There is connection and there’s no connection, it depends what degree the person is in.

S. You see plenty of suffering in the world but people just suffer without reaching any awareness or..

R. No. There's a need for that too, there’s a reason and a cause and a purpose. Ultimately, ultimately it is all aimed at correction.

21. S. (59:00) You have a story that you also wrote in a book where a person had terrible suffering and suddenly he began to feel the spiritual level.

R. That’s something special, that’s why I wrote it but afterwards when he came to me he no longer had that degree at all and already forgot. We talked about it, what he wrote and he barely remembered. That’s how it is but he was in great suffering in a camp, in a work camp in Siberia somewhere.

S. Seemingly there should be some intermediate degree like there's always phase between two phases. Here seemingly there's no transition from the corporal to the spiritual.

R. We’ll learn, we’ll learn and feel these things.

22. S. (01:00:09) What I understood is if I stand opposite a friend, another, someone else who is full of importance and I decide to keep the King’s commandment I can only contain it to a certain limit that causes me suffering. Meaning the suffering keeps growing the more I feel the importance in him and the gap between us until I reach a certain wall within me, my ability to feel the importance that he has of keeping the King’s commandment. What gives me the ability to increase my ability to see him as full of importance, greater importance to keep the King's commandment?

R. Only the adhesion in the society that will elevate you.

S. What does that mean adhesion in the society?

R. Annul before the society, start hearing what they're telling you, what they want of you. Nullify before that, carry it out, do it and then you’ll see what happens above on a higher degree.

23. S. (01:01:45) In order to reach pleasure of rest which is in our root, I have to suffer, right?

R. In order to come to what?

S. The pleasure and rest which is in our root, I need to suffer in order to understand gradually?

R. In order to understand, you need to suffer you say.

S. And to shift from corporeal suffering to spiritual suffering?

R. That’s totally opposite, yes.

S. So this is the process that I need to understand?

R. Yes.

24. S. (01:02:31) A person is like a scale and there is the effort he needs to make. On the other side there is the reward, spiritual attainment and when he compares it to the feeling that he will receive in the future, this is called rest?

R. But this rest can be on top of many actions and lack of corporeal rest and so forth, we just call it rest.

S. In the next degree more light shines to him and in this way until the end of the world of Ein Sof?

R. He raises us to the degree, to the point of balance of all of reality. We're both, us and the Creator are together.

S. The movement itself also becomes rest from one degree to the next?

R. No from one degree to the next we don't have quiet or rest but we are gradually more and more found in rest not from being in greater emotion each time but because we are in equivalence with the Creator, we equalize with the Creator. It could be infinite speed, the action could be never changing actions. You know it's like what we see in technology, the more we advance now we have, how to put it, higher frequencies. Changes from one state to the next become faster but ultimately it brings us rest.

S. That is why I meant. That the movement towards the Creator, it becomes rest even though it’s different degrees but the factor is the same one?

R. Infinite speed, infinite changes lead us to rest.

25. S. (01:05:35) I have friends around me that I see are going through corporeal suffering, there are friends I see that are inspired by the path, I have friends who are far away in some descent. But it's very difficult for me to see friends that are going through tournaments of love, suffering because they're far away from the Creator.

R. Not yet, not yet.

S. If we had to act as though we are in torments of love how do you do such a thing?

R. That, maybe. Maybe to act it out but we're not there yet. Imagine that we already rose from working in our ego to working in the force of bestowal between us. So the more we get closer to each other and embrace each other internally then the higher and higher we feel ourselves. When we can't do that then we are in suffering of love, suffering from lack of love. That’s what we need to want to feel and realize.

S. Is it possible the friend is in torments of love but he doesn't know about it? Love because he's far away from the Creator but he's not aware of it?

R. Well maybe but these are such things that pass quickly.

S. Last point I will ask us follows: how do we succeed in believing the friend, being persuaded that the example he's now showing me is an authentic, true example?

R. How will I believe the friend, that he's in an authentic state?

S. Yes, he's showing me now an example of greatness and it doesn't persuade me so I need to do work with myself here in order for it to reach me. So what should I do?

R. You cling to this form that he wants to show you and whether it's real or not real it doesn't matter. Because by getting closer to him you will change his state, his desire state and then he will change.

26. R. (01:09:06) You see that our form of progress is very specific. We drag out some states for weeks and then there's a leap, then once again things seem similar as if not unchanging and then there's a change. So that’s the way we advance.

27. S. (01:09:40) What kind of leap is there?

R. A leap like say when you list Keter, Hochma, Bina and so forth until Malchut and then there's a leap. And again 10 Sefirot and a leap. It's like counting sheep let’s say, it says the tenth is sacrificed to the Creator. So you you get to 10 and that goes to sacrifice.

S. What is the leap that you now feel in our vessel?

R. I feel all kinds of states it doesn't matter but there are states that we can even identify.

28. S. (01:10:51) If we can even compare it according to the intensity of our feelings between the ordinary suffering of the beast and torments of love, those torments we get through the importance, will the torments of love affect us as ordinary suffering affects us?

R. You can try.

29. S. (01:11:29) How can we practically use reward and punishment in the work to come closer to our root?

R. I didn't understand the question.

S. How can we practically use reward and punishment in our work in order to get closer to the root?

R. Well if we receive in our work positive and negative results then by them when we discuss between us, when we embrace each other and so on, we can understand what is our chance to advance each time more and more when we connect. And this is how we are drawn forward.

S. What could be a punishment in this case?

R. Well reward and punishment are two kinds of attitude we have to the next step; to either do it correctly or do it incorrectly, to add the friends to that or not be able at the friends to that.

30. S. (01:13:04) What does the Creator give to a person when he gives him a feeling of emptiness and helplessness?

R. That’s a very good state. Then a person understands that he’s in the right state, he’s powerless, he’s aimless, the goal is not in front of him. Then he can nullify towards the group and towards the Creator. If the group nullifies in this matter and also connects between them then they can receive from above a force that raises them to a higher degree.

S. But why specifically this state, this emptiness, the feeling of emptiness?

R. Because this is the correct state. They discover themselves in their true state, that they’re empty and only the Creator can fulfill them. And they're willing to open themselves all together out of their emptiness, that the Creator will begin to fulfill them and elevate them.

31. S. (01:14:51) How can I activate the power in my root so as to turn suffering into love?

R. Pray, that is the most certain thing. If you grab onto your friends and you hold onto each other together and you connect together with that plea to the Creator to do it for you, all in all the Creator does the actions, we just need to ask.

32. S. (01:15:35) First of all I want to let you know that there are three tens of us together tonight, there’s a lot of joy here. I've been reading this sentence “he whom the Lord loves He admonishes.” At first I had a little bit of trouble with it but now I'm understanding it's almost like if you love the Lord He’s already rewarding you by admonishing, by protecting you?

R. His blow is already the reward, the blow from Him is already a reward because through it a person can advance.

33. S. (01:16:42) How can we turn the suffering we see in others, in children and people into sufferings of love?

R. I didn't understand.

S. How can we turn the suffering we see in the world, the suffering of children and people, how can we turn it into pains of love?

R. Try and gradually work in the ten and through the ten we’ll start putting together the right relation from all people in the world towards the Creator.

32. S. (01:17:31) It is the first time I'm asking a question. We're talking about the importance of prayer in the work. What about gratitude to the Creator as a ten when he created us incomplete and full of deficiencies?

R. So what's the question?

S. We're speaking about the importance of prayer on the one hand, so what is the importance of gratitude for creating us incomplete?

R. Gratitude is very important because it purifies us and raises us and after the gratitude if we can still activate a deficiency that will be a complete prayer.

33. S. (01:18:37) I cannot exactly wrap the sensation into a question but there is the state that the spiritual torments and corporeal torments get mingled so it's not easy to make discernments between them. What corporeal tournament is coming from which spiritual root and why am I facing this in the cycle and how is it related to my correction? Generally I know inside me that the greatest torment is the torment of imprisonment. It feels like you are surrounded by chains and there's no freedom. You're stuck and you have a desire and there is no power in reality that is there for the fulfillment of your desire. How to climb about this, how to organize this?

R. Only through persistent work in the group, only by that connection in the group, it should be as the most important thing. Without that you don't have any contact below or above.

34. S. (01:20:40) The Creator does everything with the intention to do good to his creations. How can we attain connection to this intention so that what is above will be below?

R. We are always speaking about that in all our lessons, only on the connection. All in all that's the difference between the final correction and our state, that we are shattered and distant, we're not in any connection between us but on the contrary we have negative connection, envy, lust, honor, hatred and so on. So only those corrections are before us and we will succeed.
