Baal HaSulam. "Study of the Ten Sefirot" (TES). Part 2. Chapter Four. Histaklut Pnimit  #43 ("Now you will understand that Behina Aleph, which is Hochma..")

40. R. This is a beautiful place that we are in now. It is very confusing for beginners we don't immediately grasp it. Many people come to me with questions: what does it mean to aim, not to aim, to get closer, further. How do we measure the vessel, in what direction it is, to aim or not to aim, that is seemingly the interrelation. To approach or not approach is an external movement, so how do we, how can we see it in spiritual vessels. That it is neither inside nor outside but inside the Kli, not the vessel itself. So, we see many questions here, but we should nevertheless see how the spiritual vessel is made. Basically from only two actions, giving and receiving, the qualities of the Creator and the qualities of the created being and when they connect instead of two we have four, it is simple, we all learned it in school. Let's see as much as we can grasp. If not we will repeat it some more, in a little while, these things will not leave us. We are speaking about the essence of the Kli.

Reader Item 43 “From the perspective of the first substance Hochma....” (02:15 - 03:08)

41. R. In other words, it has nowhere to approach because it is filled entirely with light of Hochma and...

Reader “Also from the perspective of Malchut of Keter...”(03:17 - 04:11)

42. R. Because it is entirely filled with the light of Hochma, where will it get a deficiency for the light of Hochma, it won't, that's why it's not yet a Kli.

Reader “It has also been thoroughly clarified there....”(04:24 - 05:15)

43. R. This means that it is not a Kli yet, this is the Behina Aleph.

Reader Item 44 “The increase of the Ratzon of Bina....”(05:22 - 07:02)

44. R. That will later be revealed in the Behina Bet and its end, that it does want to bestow, it all comes to her from that Hochma that acts upon it.

45. S. (07:20) When we work with the reflected light towards the Creator, so His direct light is revealed in the four discernments from the easy one of Hochma?

R. This depends on what degree the created being is. There are many people who are and who have been already in spirituality and still are, there are some individuals, but do they discover these details? It is like in this world, you can use electricity but all you know is to turn it on, or maybe a bit more, you know some principles the way that it cools or heats things, etc. It is all according to different levels. Here we are talking about the fundamentals of the vessels, these fundamentals are very, very deep because here you have the difference between the Creator and the created being. This is why we have to understand that it is not for beginners, it is not revealed for beginners, but understanding this superficially, bestowing, receiving, yearning and rejecting. These things we can and will understand, the first time, it is hard to perceive it, we can't really scrutinize these actions. What does it mean that he is intending to come closer, he is not intending, he wants it or not, he is drawn to it or not drawn to it. We can't yet work with this freely. It is not so clear to us, spirituality in general, it can't be clear to us until we enter it until we will be there in the first complete 10 Sefirot, at least then we can begin somehow to identify what is going on. Before that it is all a description or imagining in our egoistic desires.

46. S. (09:53) Why is Behina Bet not intending, because she wants to resemble the Creator?

R. So she does that, Behina Bet does not want. On the one hand it is filled with the light of Hochma, upon this light of Hochma it doesn't want, that is why it develops Hassadim. Bina is a mirror of Hochma, that is why it has no problem.

S. But he says that Hassadim is not intending, the desire to resemble...?

R. He doesn't intend to come closer to Hochma, that is not the intention, to come closer to the light of Hochma, he comes from the light of Hochma.

Reader Item 45 “The Ohr Hochma is sufficient and did not...”(11:04 - 12:35)

47. R. What a nice excuse he is giving you, a reason. How can it be that I am full with the light of Hochma, that I’ll even go to do any action. The light of Hochma is the light of the Creator, it is the light of the purpose of creation. The light of Hassadim is only the light of the correction of creation.

Reader Item 46 “Zeir Anpin is regarded as Lo Efshar....”(13:02 - 14:29)

48. R. What caused Zeir Anpin, it still wasn't enough in Behina Bet, the form of bestowal was not sufficient, it didn't reach wholeness yet, that's why it had to bestow a bit of the light of Hochma in it and from that was Zeir Anpin made.

Reader Item 47 “Zeir Anpin is regard as ka Mekavein...”(14:57 - 16:21)

49. R. This is the development, let's move on.

Reader Item 48 “Malchut is regarded as Efshar....”(16:22 - 17:35)

Item 49 “The difference between Ohr Hochma and....”(17:35 - 18:43)

50. R. What's the difference between Behina Gimel and Behina Dalet? Bina builds Behina Gimel, adds a little bit of illumination of Hochma and then in Behina Dalet it is the entire light of Hochma. What is the difference between the two?

Reader “The He’arat of Hochma is quite sufficient for....”(18:56 - 20:00)

Reader Item 50 “Behina Dalet alone is regarded as a vessel...”(20:02 - 21:46)

51. R. And so, we conclude, if we can say so. The matter of the will to receive, the way it is built and what two parameters exist in the desire. A desire and an intention. By the right combination between the two, a vessel comes to be applied and Behina Dalet is very ready to receive the light. This is possible and with intention, meaning both from the perspective of the desire and the intention, it is completely open to receive the light, that is why it is called the end of the Kli. There cannot be any more than that, there is only Creator and created being and in this combination between the two the will to receive and the will to bestow, both from the perspective of the Creator and the perspective of the created being, has only four phases. That is why the fourth phase is the end of the Kli, the completion of the Kli.

52. S. (23:09) I always thought that this Matrix that he is speaking about, is desire and intention, but by reading this, it sounds like a speaking about a desire and a yearning, that this is what builds the vessel. Is there a difference?

R. Yearning and intention are the same. If I yearn for something, that is my intention. Sometimes we say a desire and a yearning are as if it is an addition to the desire, it depends where we use this yearning.

S. In this case it is desire and intention?

R. Yes.

53. S. (23:55) What forces the vessel to receive?

R. The will to receive, from which she understands that there is someone who is bestowing, she receives from this bestower and this transforms the intention of the will to receive, then she can relate to the bestower as he bestows to her. That is what happens, there are phases to it.

54. S. (24:39) We are speaking about the intention in the four phases of direct light where there is no intention at all?

R. We are talking here there is not yet an intention, you are correct. There is no intention on behalf of the will to receive, of Malchut, but in each and every phase you have a desire which is aimed at something, a deficiency. We can call that an intention.

S. What is the difference, what does he mean when he says desire and intention here?

R. That is the will to receive the desire and upon how we work with this will to receive in order to make it like the bestower.

S. Is there a difference between them in the four phases of the direct light between the desire and how I work with it?

R. Yes, but these are seemingly two desires that are acting in each and every Behina two desires are working and out of that it develops.

S. How are two desires created before there's a Masach?

R. Yes, and what happens later with the screen, what is new about it, what is the innovation? Only the direction, but everything that exists in the vessel after the restriction was there before the restriction, it just wasn't ripe, there wasn't a decision.

S. How, as a result of what can there be two different calculations?

R. Out of the fact that there is a difference between a desire and the fulfillment, the gap between the desire and the fulfillment builds the right vessel for its role.

55. S. (26:40) Where it says Zeir Anpin is impossible and Malchut is possible does this mean that the desire in Malchut is a full desire and it is possible to receive light in that way?

R. Yes.

56. S. (26:39) It says that ZA is impossible, and Malchut, it is possible. Does this mean the desire in Malchut is a full desire and it’s possible to receive light in that way, possible and impossible?

R. Yes.

57. S. (27:11)  Malchut after the restriction won’t know what it means to yearn for Hochma, correct? Does it only yearn for Hassadim, Behina Gimel? There is no such thing as Behina Dalet of Malchut after the Tzimtzum.

R. Malchut, after the restriction yearns only to return everything back to the Emanator, meaning for her, the Emanator it’s his Malchut, meaning I want to bring back, to fulfill the host.

S. I can only fill it with my Hassadim, I can't yearn for Hochma?

R. You can't fill it with Hochma that's for certain, in order to fill it with Hassadim you have to receive Hochma.
