Baal HaSulam. The Freedom (The Freedom of the Individual)

1. R. (00:12) We are learning everything that is actually related to the person’s freedom in this article. To the extent he needs to come out of his will to receive in order to receive; to what degree he can’t and to the extent that he reverts that in order to bestow. That can be done practically only in the group, in the environment. Then from directing himself for his self-benefit he begins to direct himself to the benefit of the environment and the environment helps him with that. While he does that, he comes out more and more from the domination of the will to receive to the domination of the desire to receive for the sake of the others, called the will to bestow. We actually learn how a person needs to try to exist.

Reading The Freedom (01:33): “The Freedom of the Individual”

2. R. (03:11) Freedom does not throw us into distances from our source but instead we can change our quality to be better, more beneficial, to be more unique. In fact, our source, our DNA, our spiritual DNA, remains as it was.

Reading The Freeform (03:44): “The Freedom of the Individual” - again

3. S. (05:17) What is the meaning of the source and what is the first form?

R. The source is the first substance, it is like DNA, it is like the foundation. A cat will remain a cat. You can connect that cat to all kinds of discernments and qualities but it will still remain a cat. There might be differences externally in his characteristics, in his behavior, perceptions, anything, but there's something that remains unchanging and that is the source.

S. Can I make it better or do I take it the way it is?

R. No, the source only determines what kind of special species you or anyone belongs to.

S. The source doesn't change?

R. No, that is what he is saying. The source, the qualities that come to us through inheritance from our fathers and forefathers, does not change.

4. S. (06:52) I want to ask you about the differences between the articles of Rabash and Baal HaSulam. We read about things that we can't do anything but pray about them, but here it looks like you have a choice. What is the difference between these two approaches?

R. Yes, there's something here and something in what you were asking. I do not know how to approach it, it is something that is very complex. The difference between the source and the other qualities, the other factors, is that we can influence the other factors but the source we cannot influence. Accordingly, we have an approach to society through all of the other factors and also to the Creator, but the source is only related to Him. That is why all our work is divided into the Creator and the group. The group is the ten and what is around it, all of humanity in general, the still, vegetative, and inanimate. We are mainly dealing with the ten and the Creator, although now we are entering the conditions of the last generation. We have a problem here, we also need to take all of humanity into account. They are coming closer and closer to us. They will pressure us more because they instinctively feel more and more that they depend on us and we will have to open ourselves and come closer to them, to all of humanity. We will then see where this point of contact can be, as Baal HaSulam writes in the end of The Introduction to the Book of Zohar.

5. S (09:54) If the inheritance of our fathers determines what we are, do we have freedom of choice?

R. He writes that the freedom of the desire is that even though we must follow our source, that is unchanging, we have other qualities in our hands. We can change them through the group. We cannot change anything without the group. We are developing only corporeally and beastly but with the ten we can influence the other three factors. This is actually what he is telling us in the article, The Freedom. We have freedom of being included in the right environment, of building it, and reaching a state that every single source that you have, regardless of what it is, even though it is unchanging, you can bring the source to the peak of its realization. It will be great, special, and unique in how it behaves as a special cell in the Kli of Adam HaRishon.

6. S. (12:09) After we connect to the Creator in prayer, we discover that the Creator wants to fill us as the created beings. Is that also how we turned towards humanity?

R. Yes, to the extent that we are included in the ten and through that each person is connected to other systems, then we begin to feel that it is not enough in the ten. The true realization is all of us being in one ten with all of humanity when we discover the inclination towards the general global connection.

7. R. (13:30) I think we understood the article about the covenant of the tongue and the eyes. We need to talk about it throughout the day. We only had this one discernment in the article The Freedom, but maybe it is the main one.

8. S (14:02) Is the source our Reshimot?

R. The source is the main Reshimot, the main record that does not change. That is why you cannot say that it is a regular record. We will learn about it soon. We work according to the records. I do not know how to answer this.

9. S (14:34) If all our qualities come from inheritance from our fathers or forefathers, what is the unique source of a person?

R. I don't understand exactly what they are asking. A source is already unique. The source means that there is something that does not change in me, as much as I turn myself around. My point, my place in the system of Adam HaRishon is always mine, it will always be kept and it will always be mine. I cannot come out of it. I can only cause my connection with the whole system of Adam HaRishon with each and every one and I must do it at some point, but I cannot come out of my own point. This is called that I'm always in my source.

10. S. (15:40) What is a personality in spirituality?

R. That is the source, meaning what is personal only to me and no one else. That is the source, my initial source in Adam HaRishon. That is why to know that source and gradually reach it, is to know how I connect to the whole vessel of Adam HaRishon, the whole system, each and everyone together and then I actually implement my source.

11. S (16:24) How do we help all the friends in the ten realize their source?

R. That is what we are doing even though we do not know exactly how. We need to connect as much as possible, be as precise as we can with all the friends through the ten and then between the tens. Then hundreds and thousands until we include all the people of the earth into one ten.

12. S. (17:09) What is the source in relation to the ten?

R. Each and every one has a source. We learn in the article The Freedom, and a few other articles, that when a person finds a ten and finds his connection with them, he organizes his personal source and also a group source, and he keeps going in this way. Every ten has its own source and we need to see it and discover it. That is the connection between us and the Creator. We discover and only develop it more and more in the system of Adam HaRishon. We connect between us and connect to the Creator. The personal connection to the ten is called the source of the ten. We reach the connection of all the tens with the general source of Adam HaRishon which is the first original source of the Creator.
