1 Rav’s Introduction: We need to enter deeper and deeper into the use of good and bad in a correct, nice and mutual way in balance between the two of them so that we cannot have one without the other there is no good without evil there is no evil without good. Because only through the contrast one standing opposite to the other can we distinguish one from the other. We can detect one from this contrast and after we detect how much they are in opposition, contradicting each other. Then we can work on the correct connection between them. So the two of them will specifically behave to bring us to the middle line which is the Creator.
This is why I said there was no joy before Him, before the Creator, as the day when the heaven and earth were created. Only when there is heaven and earth, when there is a desire to receive and the desire to give, between the evil and good, then we can see and detect one against the other, and then we can see how it is all arranged in a nice beautiful way. There is no evil. There is no good. There are only two opposite forces. And we stand between them not because it is evil or good for us to choose one over the other, but because through the correct connection between the two of them we can establish the form of the single source of both of them.
This is why this is a very important thing for us, to be precisely between the good and evil, between giving and reception, in order for us to see both and maintain the balance between the two, so that neither would be greater than the other. Instead, precisely if it is the same intensity, we can examine the opposite forces in the optimal manner. This is why we have the middle line, so that we want to use the force of bestowal and force of reception to the fullest. The middle line is called the Golden path between the two, when we are constantly maintaining the balance. This is actually the formula for success, and in such a way the evil also becomes good. We begin to realize that the Creator did not create anything that is evil, only good and only in respect to us. This is how it is presented, so let’s read the text. 2. S. (07:20) Can you clarify for us the term light of redemption?
R. The light of redemption is an upper force that is revealed in the person in order to help him to rise above his will to receive which is called ‘exile.’ When the person feels that he is in his will to receive and he can diagnose it and he calls it exile, then he’s searching by what can he rise above it? How can he come out of this into connection, into mutual bestowal, and then for him, the force that elevates him from this state is called the light of redemption.
3. S. (08:34) Can you explain what it means to observe the Torah under coercion in an obligatory manner?
R. Torah is the middle line when we use the good and evil in a correct, mutual, complete manner in order to aim ourselves directly to the Creator. That from Him, from the Creator, seemingly from Him emerge both the good and evil forces, and they reach us. In order to reach Him, we must use both the good and the evil forces equally, and this way we advance. This is precisely the usage of the middle line.
4. S. (10:04) He writes, here, that when we subjugate Amalek he tastes the flavors of the Torah, what does it mean?
R. A person can’t use correctly his will to receive, that is in order to bestow, since Amalek is the opposite, the will to receive in order to receive. Then a person who inverts his will to receive to be in order to bestow, this is considered that he is subjugating his Amalek, inverting the bad into good. And then, as a result, he discovers the upper force, the Creator.
S. What does it mean that eventually he ‘tastes the Torah and the Mitzvot?’
R. The pleasure, the fulfilment of inverting the evil to good and receiving in the corrected vessels the fulfillment, the revelation of the Creator in the form of NRNHY
S. What is this pleasure, the NRNHY? Let’s say now, I have all kinds of thoughts against the connection so I’m incorporating the 10 and what happens then?
R. Try to reach pleasure from bestowal, from connection, from love of others, bestowing to others. Then out of this, you will start to understand what it is.
S. And that’s the light of NRNHY, the pleasure from bestowal?
R. About this says’ taste and see that the Lord is good.’ If you do not attain it, it’s impossible to understand it. And it’s impossible to describe it to you in any other words. This is why it is called ‘the hidden wisdom.’ If you do not have the vessels, you cannot understand what it is and attain what it is.
S. So Amalek gives us the possibility to taste those flavors?
R. Amalek gives you a place to work and as a result of this, you receive from above these vessels, the intentions of in order to bestow, and in them, you start to feel the pleasures that come from the form of bestowal that you have acquired.
5. S. (12:58) How can we understand that we are subjugating under Amalek?
R. Right now we are subjugated under Amalek, he rules over us. He is called ‘in order to receive.’ And we surrender below this control so that all our actions, all of our desires are only to receive from them the result of an egoistic fulfillment. This is considered that Amalek is ruling us in the smallest things to the highest degrees. And all of our work is to subjugate him, make it the opposite, specifically. We have to reach at state subjugate Amalek and all our actions, thoughts and all our desires in which there is an intention to receive, we have to bring them to be under restriction and later to invert them to the opposite, to in order to bestow. This is considered ‘to defeat Amalek.’ This is it. It’s all about the inner work of the person with all of his desires and intentions.
6. S. (14:52) It is written that the first stage takes place in coercion. Is this necessary for the first stage to always be forcefully or is it possible with the help of the 10 to come to a state where we see an opportunity in the first stage so it is not forcefully?
R. We always begin from a single nature. Just like in our world there are the degrees of the still, vegetative and animate, and then man, the human in our world, belongs to the animate degree because we are living according to the same rules as animals, a little bit more developed. And the speaking degree is no longer in this world but it is already in spirituality, in the upper world because this is already the degree which is similar to the Creator, that's it. Therefore, we are also born as we see in babies, it is all on the animate level, only extinct exist in them and a will to receive and nothing besides this. To the extent a person can already receive or accept certain laws of the society, according to that he gradually develops. Nevertheless, he develops in the form of the animate because he has no more than simply getting used to all kinds of forms of life that his life obligates him. The speaking degree is a degree which is already similar to the Creator. So if the person acquires through the wisdom of Kabbalah, by taking part in the society, he acquires foreign desires and he replaces his desire with these foreign desires both in quality and quantity. Accordingly, that form that resembles the Creator grows in him, this is why he is called Adam. This already pertains or belongs to the spiritual world. According to these qualities that a person establishes in himself, he starts to feel a different reality, at higher reality. He's already thinking and feeling, understanding, arranging his inner life in a particular form.
S. Can we say that coercion takes and divides in two when we try to arrange the internal and external life for the benefit of the path and coercion, and second, I have to force myself in the 10 to do all kinds of actions, to awaken the others?
R. There are many manners in that. Look at what is happening now. Humanity, whether they want it or not, whether they understand it or not, they are now entering a new phase of development. Some collective blows come because we are in the state of The Last Generation and look at how everybody in the world starts to connect to each other, and accordingly both good and evil is felt in such a way that we can no longer separate from each other and soon we will truly learn this out of this world, what it means to be a single vessel.
7. S. (19:16) How important is this vessel which is the covenant between us in beating Amalek?
R. Everything depends on that because in order to receive, these are the forces of separation between us, and connection and the covenant is the highest level of connection, these are specifically the forces of unity by which we obliterate Amalek, we destroy him, we do not allow him to be revealed between us.
8. S. (20:00) When the inner war is taking place on the boundaries of the heart, I come out of it, truly worn down with no forces, can barely breathe. What am I doing wrong?
R. Why do you think you are doing something wrong? If you are fighting and you come out exhausted, however, to some degree you do rise above through this inner struggle, above your will to receive in the direction of connection, then it is already a success. So you should be grateful to the Creator that He gave you such forces that He aimed you correctly, and this way, to continue. And the lack of strength is because you are not connected properly to the society, not sufficiently connected.
S. But this war is on connecting to society, so it's not clear to me. The war is on being connected to the society, lowering the partitions in the heart, to nullify and be completely inside the 10 and I find myself completely worn down from this?
R. You need to think more about connection and not about a war, think about the connection and that’s it.
9. S. (21:48) Is defeating Amalek expressed in ‘love covers all crimes’?
R. Yes
10. S. (22:11) It is written that in coercion a person does, he does so necessarily. How can a person force one’s self to do something without pleasure, necessarily so?
R. If I enter a society and I perform all kinds of actions in this society, then out of these actions I begin to receive a new attitude towards the friends. As much as I perform actions, physical ones, in order for us to connect together, out of these actions the friends, and the group, we become closer to each other because we invest into each other. If I invest my forces in this then it becomes mine, and it is already closer to me and then I am willing more and more to work for it.
11. S. (23:32) The connection in the 10 is lack of forces, so what is the general lack of forces in the 10?
R. When we want to connect in order to discover the upper force between us but we are not capable of it, then we turn to Him to help us. Nevertheless whatever we achieve, we achieve only by turning to the Creator and only by getting an answer from the Creator, only through that.
S. So my personal lack of connection to the 10 is the lack of my forces and the lack of connection of the 10 to the Creator is a general lack of forces in the 10, so in the 10 we must make sure we have connection to the Creator?
R. Of course. When I raise my desire and each one does this, raising his desire to the 10, there we want to connect all our inclinations and desires, and this way, we raise them together to the Creator like a bouquet. And by that, we persuade the Creator to help us.

12. Here he touches a special state, where we can understand that there is a very small part of mankind that can engage in this, in the attainment of the Creator, building the connection between this whole world, this physical beastly desire to receive and the Creator. We have to be like a conduit and the rest of humanity just joins this, they support it somehow on the physical level, on the physical level as much as they can. It is not demanded from them to reach the intention to bestow to reveal the Creator, this all happens by according to how much they support this small minority and by bestowal from above it will reach them as well. In short we do not have to wait for mankind, when will everybody wake up reaching the wisdom of Kabbalah, they will not come to the wisdom of Kabbalah, as this is spiritual work and they're not connected to this work, they are not capable of this. They are capable of taking part in it as Baal HaSulam writes how the whole of mankind will support us reaching the Creator, we reach the Creator they will take part in it. But in what? In something that is completely not with understanding not with feeling but they will say yes, we want a good life, we want to be afraid of the evil and so you go ahead and do this and we will support you. This is considered that they are seemingly taking us on their shoulders, raising us to the Creator. This is why this work depends specifically on that we are doing it in order to connect them to the Creator, to be the conduit. As Baal HaSulam writes in his article, Arvut, that we are the passageway we have to be connected to the Creator on one side and to mankind on the other side, so we have to create a bridge between them. This is our purpose, this is our role and the whole mankind will get bestowal and the right influence from the Creator, they come close to Him and all will become corrected.
13. S. (29:53) Can you explain to us what it means to blot out Amalek?
R. This means to stop using the intention in order to receive.
14. S. (30:26) We try to examine what the evil inclination is, but when we say that it is against the pleasant connection we feel between us in the group, somewhere in each of us there is that opposite state, where the friend annoys me or there are several different stages, sometimes in some way and all together we cannot connect, we cannot engage with each other and what does it mean to recognize the evil inclination?
R. This is help made against you, and we need to recognize it and then do things oppositely, the whole spiritual work is working against the desire, therefore you will have to increase the importance of spirituality in your eyes. This is possible only with the right environment as we learn about the importance of the society and as much as the environment can influence you giving you the feeling of greatness of spirituality, the greatness of bestowal, the greatness of attaining the goal, and how we come out to connection with others. Because in the others, in those great desires we acquire from the others, there we discover the spiritual world, so this is how we progress.
15. (32:28) Are the learners of the Torah, are those the people who do not have the taste in it and they don't understand what they are doing?
R. Who are these learners of the Torah?
S. Who are the supporters of the Torah and the learners of the Torah according to this excerpt?
R. We will reach this but he is talking about in general, about Issachar and Zebulon and all of these things, they are all called the disciples of the Torah, so we will learn about it when we reach it.

16. R. This means that we have to go through stages where we feel the desire to receive in order to receive, we have to sense and hate how much it disconnects from spirituality, how much it is stopping us giving us evil calculations, we need to understand and we need to see the results of the evil control over us and in such a way seeing the result of this evil control we are ready to raise ourselves and blot this evil out, obliterate it.
17. S. (35:29) We say that the work of Amalek is an internal transformation, but you say that we have to do actions as well, what are these actions we have to do?
R. We need to try to truly overcome all the forces of separation first of all, the forces of separation which we feel between us, this is our war with Amalek because, Amalek, meaning in order to receive, is revealed mainly in that he wants to distance us from each other.
18. S. (36:24) We learn that He created the evil inclination and created the Torah as a spice, what does it mean for us in the work?
R. It means that we need the upper force to overcome the in order to receive, as we have no forces by ourselves, these two forces, the good and evil forces they exist up above, and if we are capable of coping then we get from above the burdening of the heart, a greater desire to receive in order to turn to the Creator and reach a greater desire to bestow and by connecting the desire to receive and desire to bestow we build the middle line.
19. S. (37:34) Can Amalek blot us out by pulling us towards states without clashes, suggesting that we do not need to go above reason?
R. Yes, Amalek can be very nice, suggesting that seemingly you do not need these frictions, you do not need these at conflict, why do you even need to progress all together, have a nice quiet life like everybody else. Let's say right now when you get up at 2 a.m., Amalek suggests to you, what do I get out of this, try to have a good life instead, this is also Amalek. Any intention in order to receive is Amalek, but it is impossible to progress without it because then we would become incorporated in the Creator and we're never born out of Him, never coming out of Him. We need to be opposite to Him in order to disconnect from Him and start growing by ourselves outside of the Creator. This is why this force that separates us from the Creator is Amalek, but the Creator has to fight it, and we do not need to erase him, we just need to erase the intention to receive and we want to build out of this desire that appears with the intention of in order to receive, a desire which will be in order to bestow and then we build out of Amalek the Creator, this is how we do this, one against the other.
20. S. (39:43) Why do we use the concept of blotting out when we learn that we do not erase anything in spirituality?
R. We are talking about the intention and the changing of the intention to receive to intention to bestow.

This means that we have to try to perform all kinds of actions by ourselves until we reach a state where we are incapable of doing anything, only to ask, to cry out to the Creator and when we raise this outcry than the upper force comes and arranges Amalek in a way that the Creator will turn him into good.

23. R. First we have to achieve such vessels from the desire to receive which has nothing and then we have to create vessels of bestowal out of this as we learn from the study of TES, that the vessels on coarseness of 0 and 1, from them we can already have the beginning of the spiritual vessels.

24. R. (46:03) The entire expansion of the light from above down will be sorted and revealed in us.

R. When we perform all kinds of actions as much as possible, so that all the qualities, desires and intentions will be revealed in order to bestow, only this is called to complete the Holy Name,

R. He and his name one, meaning the general light and the general vessels will be one, so the light fulfills the vessel and the vessel is ready to receive it and discover the light in itself.
25. S. (47:11) It says that we have to have to become sons, how is that there is no daughter following it?
R. I don't understand your question completely, but let's say that is son always includes a daughter in it, even the Torah says that if you read it, you will see that they are only talking about the sons, the males, so where are the daughters, where are the women, what happened to the females? What they mean is that no action can take place that is male, without it happening upon the female vessel, meaning it has to be done on the desire to receive that is called the woman, and the correction is through the intention to bestow, which is called the male intention, and only in the right connection between the desire to receive with intention to bestow and the connection between the male and the female can we come to the correct results. There cannot be any action which is done without the action of the desire to receive which is the woman and the intention to bestow which is the man, and then through the connection between the two of them, through that we come to birth and results.
26. S. (49:08) How is it manifested when we managed to overcome Amalek, what happens then?
R. We correct piece by piece our correct attitude to Amalek but we need to understand that the war of the Creator and Amalek is through generation to generation, from one degree to the next all along the spiritual ladder through all the corrections, and we completely blot him out when the intention to receive completely disappears through our work, and the upper light appears and then we come to the end of correction.
27. S. (50:05) How to invert Amalek so he would serve the ten?
R. What we need in the connection between us is to locate where we have Amalek where we have these intentions and desires which are in order to receive from the lightest to the heaviest and to try and to battle against it. There is no more this is constantly what bothers us and what bothers us can be from the simplest degree like we learned in the past few days that I am in good states, I feel good that I am happy but I am not thinking about advancing about the Creator, so I don't advance. Where is my war in Amalek? So I need as it is written that one will always annoy the good inclination upon the evil inclination this is what we have to constantly hold ourselves in the half good and the half bad. Where the bad vessels are awakening us and I battle against it and by that come closer to the Creator. If we don't have the evil inclination in it, if we don't have the forces revealed in us that are bad, we won't be able to advance towards the Creator, we don't need him. Therefore the moment I start feeling good I am concerned. Why is it so good for me, good for me means I enjoy my state and my state is not corrected yet. So I need as it is written that one will anger his good inclination by the evil inclination and then I have to exit this comfort and start to make the evil inclination into good.
29. S. (52:39) Can we use the suffering of a friend as a deficiency for prayer in order to progress to the goal?
R. Yes of course, otherwise how can we do it? We need to take the deficiencies of the friends, all the negative states and pray for them, to use all these states so that we can all overcome them, all the negative states of all the friends, and then we can all succeed and connect. Just imagine that each and every problem, everything that bothers us from advancing to the connection, we all pounce on them together, this way we can turn all of it into a fuel, and then we come to adhesion with the Creator as a result.
30. S. (53:50) What about the egoistic desire and the deficiency, we understand that other than turning to the Creator we have nothing else to do, but what is this right prayer that the Creator is expecting from us, we want to pray, we want to come up with a request what the Creator can accept?
R. It is good that you are searching how to pray for the Creator, so the Creator would listen. The Creator only listens to one thing, that he could come to you and according to your request connect you together in order to be revealed in you. That's it, all the other things are just surrounding this. The prayer has to be in this way, eventually give us the possibility to connect so you can be revealed in us, to spread in us, to exist in us. But before this we need to have a certain inclination in everybody’s heart towards connection, that I want to be connected I want this connection, and then you connect all these inclinations together and ask the Creator to help you, and even if we understand that all our tendencies to connection are still selfish and they're not right, and it is not good, it is all false, we still want Him to correct it and connect us.
31. S. (56:10) The memory of Amalek to remember Amalek?
R. It's time we need to not forget all that we have achieved is specifically thanks to the evil inclination that the Creator created on purpose so then also by this correct work with the evil inclination we come to the Creator. Therefore don't forget means hold on constantly to this principle that comes in closer to the Creator can take place only by the correct work with the evil inclination.
32. S. (57:14) Is it worthwhile throughout the day to share with the 10 about the revelation of Amalek and to tell them how we are working with it, to ask for help?
R. This needs to be in a delicate matter so you don't confuse them because if each starts that way what will happen, we need to make room for everything. Not that you're starting out to press them and to tell them here are your states and what you are doing so to confuse them. Br in a true to delicate way.

R. It is considered that we are using the light of Hasadim, the light of bestowal in such a way that we can receive with in it the light of Hochma.
S. You also said Creator gives us the quality of Bina and we have to work with ZA and Malchut?
R. We will learn that.

R. We battle against the general Amalek in our hearts in the 10 to the extent that each one feels that desire to enjoy the desire that draws us to rest and doesn't give us the possibility to battle and to beat our Amalek in order to receive.
