58. The child opened and said, “It is written, ‘My people, what have I done to you? And how have I wearied you? Testify against Me.’” With His love for Israel, the Creator called them “My people.” “What have I done to you? Why did I do this to you? So you would go to housees of assembly and seminaries, and testify about Me that I am one, as it is written, ‘The Lord is one.’
59. “Testify that I am one, and transcend the name of the Mem-Bet (42) words in the Shema reading, from the word ‘and you shall love,’ to the words ‘And it shall come to pass that if you hear,’ and work to unite Me over you.” These forty-two words are a name, like the name of Mem-Bet names.
60. In the name of AB (72) words in the portion Shema, from the words “And it shall come to pass that if you hear,” to the words, “and place My words.” And in the name of fifty words that there are from the word “and place” to the end of the portion, like the number fifty gates of Bina. And in the name of seventy-two words that there are from the word “and said” to the end of the portion.
61. And 236 words in these four portions, with twelve words that there are in the Shema reading, in the verse, “Hear O Israel,” with “Blessed be the name of His kingship forever and ever,” which are two upper unifications, they will all become 248 words, corresponding to the 248 organs in man.
Every person who reads the Shema reading properly, each word in the Shema reading influences each organ in him. If a person does not read the Shema reading in the day and in the night, every organ in him will be filled with evil spirit and with all the illnesses in the world.
62. The three missing words in the Shema reading from 248 words, how are they filled? They are completed with “The Lord your God, true,” which the messenger of the public repeats out loud.
63a. It is written, “A small city with few people in it, and a great king came to it and surrounded it, and built great fortresses over it. And he found in it a poor, wise man.”
The small city is Noah’s ark. The few people in it are his wife, his sons’ wives, animals, birds, and beasts. The great king who came to it and surrounded it is the evil inclination. The poor, wise man he found in it is Noah. “And he saved the city with his wisdom,” meaning he saved the whole world.
