Part 1:

Rabash. Article No. 36, 1990.  What Is, “The Children of Esau and Ishmael Did Not

Want to Receive the Torah,” In the Work?

Reading. (00:37) “It is written in The Zohar…”

1. S. (38:39) It says that in the text the person is Incorporated with all seventy nations as Ishmael, Esau, and Israel. We learned more than once you can overcome the quality of Esau. How do you work with the quality of Ishmael? How do you overcome the quality of Ishmael?

R. Through the connection between us. We need to be connected and by that, we will be able to defeat Ishmael.

S. What's so special about the quality of Ishmael?

R. That they are also special. They have a connection with the Creator, and he is also ready and willing in some cases, for some reasons, to help them, and their claim towards Israel is seemingly partially righteous, right, and just. So, that's why we are somewhat close and similar somewhat? Therefore, in their request there is certain justice, that’s it. That is also why through their pressure upon us there's a certain seeming justification, that we so-called deserve, as they say. Nevertheless, we're not disconnected from them, and we never were disconnected from them. We were not disconnected.

2. S. (41:54) What do we do?

R. What do we do? We learn from the Torah what way we can separate from them and come closer to the Creator.

S. They have some connection with the Creator and for us, we need connection to have contact with the Creator, and what do we separate from them?

R. Differentiated, separated from them by being able to observe the will of the Creator in a special way and to this, depart from them, and come closer to the Creator.

S. Their demand is they want to rule over Israel or destroy Israel?

R. Probably to destroy.  Who doesn't want to destroy Israel? Everyone.

S. You say the remedy for that is the connection between us?

R. Yes.

S. How will the connection between us correct their desire as well?

R. The connection between us will correct the general state because we are in the center of Creation with our big desire, with our original big desire, and if we will want to demand for our desire to be corrected, and filled by the Upper Light, then there's no greater problem, no greater goal.

S. They have some form of connection and contact with the Creator, when Israel is connected how does that change their relationship with the Creator? What does it do to them? Does it change the character and the quality of the connection of Ishmael?

R. We draw the attention of the Creator upon us, and we want to be closer to Him and we want to observe the thought of creation, and the truth according to our desire, only we can fully do it. That is why this is how we correct the whole of creation.

S. Then what happens to them?

R. What happens to them? They receive a certain part that they deserve, for being in a process, also by observing something, and that's it.

S. Then they're satisfied?

R. Everyone’s satisfied. All the nations of the world, all the desires together in Malchut de Ein Sof, infinity receive the filling.

3. S. (46:09) He opens the article also closes it by saying the Creator wants to give to Israel love and light, two things. Can you explain this thing love and light, two different things?

R. Love is unique in that we have to receive from the Creator this quality in order to be able to bestow it in return to the Creator. When we receive that quality of love from the Creator into our vessels and then when we bestow to Him, we are actually bestowing already the light of love.

S. When you used to draw the four phases of direct light you used to do it like this the first phase receives two things from the Creator the pleasure and the revelation of the quality of the Creator, and in that pleasure two things. Are these the two things that the lower one receives from the upper one both the filling and somehow in the filling he is gradually passed the quality of the upper one?

R. Yes.

S. When the lower one gets it and he writes he wants and demands and asks the Creator to help him and give the quality. He's paying less attention to the filling, but the quality and the answer Creator would answer now I will reveal more of that to you. He'll be able to ask for more help, that's the answer of the upper one to the request of the lower one.

R. Well let's say, yes.

S. What is this practically for us? Send us back to go pray, go connect, and pray these two actions?

R. To the extent to which a person feels himself differentiated from the thought and purpose of creation.

S. We need to feel that we are lacking connection and prayer, two things?

R. Yes.

4. S. (48:45) What is this quality the sons of Ishmael the sons of Esau in a person?

R. Those are qualities that are close to Israel, closer to Israel from the rest of the qualities in the desire to receive and these qualities come to purify Israel. Meaning to give Israel the feeling and discernment that are such that they will feel what they are lacking in order to come closer to the Creator.

S. What do the sons of Ishmael lack, what will make them satisfied?

R. All together if we rise above the attraction towards the vessels of Ishmael and Esau, by that we give them the possibility to receive from the Creator according to those vessels. And they no longer come closer to us, and they don't want to destroy us. Rather they become satisfied.

S. Meaning their existence in the world from the beginning it's like to push Israel forward?

R. Just like the existence of Israel is to push them towards the Creator, for them to receive what they deserve, and for the resistance.

S. What proposal is made for these qualities of Israel and Esau which they reject which is called Torah? What are they rejecting there in fact?

R. That's in order to bestow, the intention in order to bestow.

S. Why do they reject it?

R. It's not according to their nature, not according to their spirit.

S. They have a certain attraction to the Creator also in internality and externality.

R. Of course there's an attraction towards the Creator but there's no attraction to observing the conditions.

S. How do they grasp the Creator?

R. As much as they can grasp, a little from Israel where they steal something from the connection to the Creator and also a little from coming closer, nevertheless. By Israel falling from time to time, then according to what is happening in Israel, they could steal, and they can grab.

S. Exactly, are they offered and reject, saying no I don't want this I give this to someone else?

R. They want in order to bestow.

S. Did they understand what it is in order to bestow, to actually refuse it?

R. Yes, they are distancing from it.

S. Is it only from the side of negation there's nothing actually in it?

R. Yes exactly.

S. Then when it's offered to Israel after was offered to Ishmael why then specifically afterward it was offered to Israel Ishmael and Esau the addition Israel received after Ishmael and Esau rejected it?

R. That Israel can then use the Torah and they can use the Torah in a manner in which only they can use it. That is to receive it in order to be bestow and not in any other way only in order to keep it amongst them.

S. What does that mean?

R. That in that closeness between them, they establish and stabilize the vessel, and from this vessel, they come near to the Creator in such a way in bestowal.

S. Meaning the connection in the group in the Ten in order to come to the quality of bestowal that's what neither Ishmael nor Esau had that's the difference?

R. I wouldn't say it that way, but rather in many cases, the connection between them, within them stems from hatred, it stems from negation. Whereas, in Israel, it only stems from love thy friend as thyself and so on.

5. S. (55:33) If Israel has a connection with Ishmael and the Creator, of course, then why does it have any demands to Israel? Let them ask him and receive, what are they satisfied not satisfied with what they received from the Creator?

R. They want everything.

S. The Creator's not giving them everything?

R. Somewhat, not everything.

S. What do they want for which they demand from Israel, they cannot receive from the Creator, but they come to Israel?

R. They want everything that Israel receives but they don't have the vessels to receive everything, and it's the same with Esau.

S. That causes the hate and the desire to destroy?

R. This creates great hatred and eventually they have to rise to connect between them in order to destroy Israel.

S. How can Israel solve this matter?

R. Only by coming closer to the Creator and turning to Him.

S. One has to take into account these qualities.

R. Yes.

S. How to take this quality when you want to come to a connection, the correct connection out of “Love Thy Friend as Yourself”? What should be their attitude towards them, what to leave for them, what to ask for them for these qualities; or simply repress them completely, what's the relationship between them?

R. It's written in Rashi and other interpreters that the Creator seemingly gives all that is necessary to each and every nation according to its spiritual root, and it actually has no source for another claim.

S. They have no source for this claim, which kind?

R. The next claim, meaning what they receive is what they will receive.

S. We see that they have a demand.

R. That's a different claim, that they want, through the struggle with Israel to benefit for themselves.

S. Meaning these qualities simply want to receive what the Creator wants to give to Israel but in order to receive?

R. Yes.

S. We need to overcome somehow that in the connection of Israel, is it possible that the nation of Israel also has these qualities?

R. No, within the people of Israel these qualities do not exist. The people of Israel are actually the most naked.

S. How to use these qualities that exist, those external desires, in order to receive, they're very big. How often do the people of Israel who are small and weak, what should they do with it?

R. Only to get the Creator to rise with Him to the highest heights, one has no other chance. Also in being saved from death and destruction, but also to reach correction.

S. The pressure that is felt from these qualities, from this nation that has this just demand. This pressure that is felt is very scary to Israel because of the need to reach such a degree but, in order to bestow. Is this what these qualities are supposed to awaken in me? They give me a feeling of how much desire there is in reality in order to receive, and from this pressure of reaching the same level, the same degree. But by means of sacrifice and bestowal to the Creator, this is how I'm supposed to use the feeling that they're giving me?

R. Yes, it is an inversion.

6. S. (01:00:50) Why did the people of Israel not want to come closer to the Creator if that's the only solution?

R. Coming closer to the Creator is not given to us by our nature because we receive rejection in such a natural way, that coming near to the Creator, we can only if the Creator attracts us.

S. The only solution for Israel against all the hate is simply to ask and come closer to the Creator? Israel hears it and says okay, it's fine we move to something else. We don't stay at this point where only this is the solution, and this is the effort and there's nothing but that.

R. Yes, that's called in order to bestow in faith above reason. We need to pray for that all the time and expect the help of the Creator.

S. Israel needs to reveal that it's unable to even be in that thought and to ask for it, to be in prayer, to just be connected to this idea. That demand towards Israel is concretely towards Israel or all the nations of the world?

R. No, towards Israel.

S. What's the demand from the nations of the world, do they have any demand?

R. Meaning a request, a prayer.

S. A request from Ishmael or all the nations of the world?

R. The prayer for the nations of the world, for them to enter into the path of the Creator, that's what you mean?

S. What is the demand of Ishmael from the nations of the world and what is their demand from Israel?

R. I didn't understand.

S. Does Ishmael have any demand from the nations of the world?

R. Not so much so, no, if yes, then he goes to battle with them on the corporeal fields.

S. What are Ishmael's demands from Israel?

R. That is already a struggle for the inheritance of the land, that's already something different.

S. When will Ishmael be truly satisfied, is there such a state?

R. No, he will only be satisfied when we reach a state in which we receive the desire to bestow, and the desire to receive distances us, and they receive it.

S. Israel is working in connection out of fear from Ishmael?

R. Well, it will be desirable to be from fear of the Creator.

S. You said that Israel is naked of these qualities, where will he get these qualities from?

R. From the prayer to the Creator.

S. Until the end of Correction, Ishmael and Israel are expected to be in constant friction.

R. With Ishmael, yes.

S. All the way to the end?

R. Yes, and also the nations of the world will join as well.

S. Will join?

R. Yes, they will join, it's written that all the nations of the world will rise against Israel.

S. In the article, the Creator is revealing the bad to them so they will ask for greater help.

R. Yes.

S. So, according to this mechanism, how to go on this path where there's always Ishmael, there's always bad. But together with that, they ask for help, meaning accept it as a reality and not that we beat them and now we don't have to work with them. How to work in this middle-line approach, where we have a constant quarrel or conflict with them, and we have to constantly connect against it?

R. I don't think we need to come close to that for us to have a permanent dispute, no. We need to only think about our coming closer to the Creator. The war is a war against the evil inclination, and we need to come to a state in which all the forces of nature are joined to us in order to come closer and adhere to the Creator.

S. The war is not against Ishmael but against the inclination?

R. Yes.

S. Then, what is a triumph?

R. The triumph is that we rise above the evil inclination and connect everyone to being so.

7. S. (01:06:53) When I look at the people of Israel, I'm very frustrated by how can you even connect this thing? My question is do we Bnei Baruch, can we Bnei Baruch, do something, not externally something about dissemination, of course, dissemination constantly flows outwardly. Internally, can we do something in order to soften the opposition and the hate among the people?

R. No, until we turn our intention to our hearts, to our internality, we will always be in a dispute between us and a quarrel between all of the nations of the world, especially with Israel and Ishmael.

S. And we as Bnei Baruch cannot do anything about it, is that what you’re saying?

R. We can do.

S. What?

R. We need to educate ourselves that the connection between us will define the new world order.

S. Meaning if we hear what you're saying here is that Bnei Baruch is not enough to create a certain new reality for the nation of Israel, we don't have the power for it. We need all the people of Israel?

R. No, of course, this is desirable, but it's not realistic, we need to come closer to all the parts of the people of Israel. And to explain to them what the connection between us is considered and how this connection raises us to the highest degree in creation.

S. There's an open channel, there's dissemination, still it doesn't penetrate the people?

R. Correct, correct.

S. It looks like only blows will give us such an agreement.

R. It’s possible.

S. We have to agree to it, to the blows?

R. Not to agree but make it such that in place of the blows we will do the work. There's nothing to be done.

8. S. (01:10:01) He writes in the last paragraph that Ishmael and Esau resist, they reject. And then he gives the reason for the objection, so we will have a deficiency later. And then he goes to the Egyptians, as a promise to the Creator to be in Egypt. What's the difference, where suddenly do the Egyptians come from, is that a new discernment? Why do we have to be under the rule of Egypt and not the rule of Ishmael and Esau, for example? They are the ones who resisted?

R. No, no, the Egyptians?

S. Is there something else?

R. Yes.

S. Why does he write that you have to be under the governance of Egypt? That without the governance we won't have any need to ask for help from the Creator?

R. Yes, because Moses seemingly, is also under the control of the Egyptians. The Egyptians is the upper force, and Israel receives permission to leave the exile only by the Egyptians. Well, we’re yet to talk about this, there is such a force in nature.

S. It turns out that the resistance of Esau and Israel will always be, otherwise we will not get to the purpose of creation?

R. Yes, with their help, if we can say so.

S. What we can do is to have this resistance as internal as possible and not external.

R. To the point, kind of the subject matter.

S. Is it really possible to have this resistance only internally and not to have any conflict externally, or the world is built in such a way that we have to have that in corporality?

R. Both.

S. It has to be?

R. I don't know, you're asking me what will be in the future?

S. For the time being, we see that the conflict is external.

R. Yes, but I don't necessarily think that it has to be in the corporeal world. But rather more in relation to the spiritual world.

S. There's such a justification that this is nature, you need to have resistance so you can have resistance on the outside as well.

R. I have no idea about the future and what will be. I am not on such a degree that I can say.

9. S. (01:13:04) Many people are looking at the war taking place on the outside, and say that it's not a war over land, it’s an ideological war and you also speak this way. Sometimes they present it as simplistically as a war between good and evil, but another way they say that there are people here that sanctify life versus people that sanctify death. Something in the root of the people of Israel because we feel that the people of Israel are those who sanctify life, in many ways. Is there a spiritual root for that?

R. The will to bestow, love your friend as yourself, and so on. All those things that are the foundation of the Torah. The foundation of taking the other into consideration, that belongs to the nation of Israel.

S. What's the correct way by which we should understand the line, you chose life?

R. If you're speaking towards, you have chosen, meaning in our life, so it's only the love of Israel.

S. What does that mean?

R. To develop the connections of love between us and through those connections of love we can attain everything.

S. Now, in the article he explains this process that the more you want the desire to bestow you receive the opposite. That's how the Creator builds in us, He gives us blows and all that. What's the difference between these two kinds of blows? If we don't ask correctly, we receive blows because we didn’t ask correctly; if we ask correctly then we receive blows that will build in us this vessel. What's the difference between these two kinds of sufferings?

R. To teach us how to ask.

S. In externality how is that expressed? Do you receive blows either way in Israel?

R. No, we see a big difference between the two. That the blows that come from love and blows that come as punishment from hate.

S. Who is us that can distinguish between the two?

R. Our will to receive, what is that directed towards, let's try and feel the Creator's attitude towards us: does it come from hate or from love?

S. We who study are supposed to feel not that we receive blows and that's because we're not aimed correctly, we inside of the people of Israel?

R. Yes.

S. And if we work corrected, we would feel the blows but feel love out of them?

R. Yes.

S. Can you expect someone who's not studying to feel this?

R. Yes also.

10. S. (01:16:17) He said that Ishmael sanctified death, but they expect in the next world.

R. Yes?

S. So the point that we're supposed to come from love we also have a process of building fear first and the people of Israel.

R. Yes?

S. What's the difference between wanting to be rewarded with the next world and having fear from the Creator in great and ruling, can you elaborate on this point? We say that the greatest fear is that the Creator is the great and ruling, if you can explain, before it brings to love, what is special about that point?

R. That the Creator is great and all controlling means that we have to perform His will without any questions and any answers. To keep His desires the way it's opened before us.

S. The people of Israel, too, before they come to love of others, love of friends, they have a point of fear that they have to maintain as well. Because we say that the Ishmaelites sanctify the fear that they will be rewarded with the next world. I have an issue with this.

R. Yes?

S. In the people of Israel, shifting from this fear to a more internal one, that the Creator is great in ruling, how's it expressed in our inner work?

R. Adhesion between us and the Creator, that all the actions we do then will be actions of love, pure love.

11. S. (01:18:29) Rabash writes here a desire to bestow called with all of his heart. What does it mean with all of his heart?

R. All of his heart, you have a good heart, a bad heart each one, this part that part. So, from all the heart means all of the desires, the heart is all of your desires.

12. S. (01:19:00) Besides light and vessel and the screen between them, is there nothing?

R. I don't know.

S. There are four kinds of love: self-love, love of others, love of people, and the love of the Creator. How do we shift from one to the other?

R. With God's help.

13. S. (01:19:56) What does it mean to do the Creator's will in the pure way?

R. I guess not in order to receive, not to aim it towards us.

14. S. (01:20:12) What is the difference between the force of Ishmael and the force of Esau?

R. One is in order to receive but also from two contradicting lines, right and left.

15. S. (01:20:37) Israel is the middle line between them, between the right and left?

R. Yes.

16. S. (01:20:42) Seeing that the friends are making the work difficult, is this an expression of my will, the growth of my will to receive?

R. I don't understand.

S. Seeing that the friends make the work more difficult, is this an expression of the growth of my will to receive?

R. Yes, it affects you.

17. S. (01:21:10) It is written, “This is the meaning of saying demand it with all his heart, meaning that afterward, you can demand of the Creator to give him with all of his heart. Meaning to give him a desire to bestow so everything he does for the Creator will be with all of his heart.” What does it mean to demand from the Creator with all of his heart?

R. I don't know, but from all of the heart, a person feels all of his heart, and from all of the vessels, all of those desires he turns to the Creator.

S. Is this a demand from within from the heart? How can we realize this demand?

R. I don't know, I told you already I don't know. But I guess you really have a feeling that it came from all of his heart.

18. S. (01:22:28) Here the Creator gives Abraham a promise that with the help of difficulties, they will get to the Promised Land, and this is called love and illumination, right?

R. Yes.

S. In the Ten, if I have some behavior, how can I interpret if my friend does something to receive a holy soul, is this right for me to behave this way towards him?

R. If he does good, right actions toward the holy soul, so do I also have to do it? I don't understand the question.

S. If in the Ten I have to love the friends, and this love is the love of the Creator towards Israel, can I, in the state of stress, can I place a friend in the place of stress? The Creator made it difficult for the people of Israel, but the Creator made it difficult for Abraham in order for him to advance, so he wants to know if we can relate this way to the friends of the Ten.

R. No, no, no, we can't do things like the upper forces are doing with us, we can just give help, love, and support.

19. S. (01:25:05) In the text, I would like to know if Esau and Ishmael, do they serve the purpose of showing us the Mitzvah of what not to do.

R. No, completely no.

S. Can you explain, please?

R. The role of each one of them is to show us what doesn't belong to us.

20. S. (01:26:03) It is said that man's desire grows after he yearns for holiness. Is this something repetitive that repeats itself six hundred thirteen times?

R. Yes.

21. S. (01:26:50) You said that we have to organize ourselves in such a way that the connection between us will determine a new world order. How do you perceive this new world order and how should we organize ourselves so that the connection between us will determine it?

R. That every day, every man on earth, will feel that he is entering new relationships with everybody because through these new relationships, he relates differently to the Creator, and that's how he rises on the degrees.

S. What is the Creator with respect to all the people in the world?

R. I don't know, the upper force.

S. What are the relations that every person in the world needs to get into?

R. Closeness.

22. S. (01:28:12) What does it mean that the Creator appears to the people of Ishmael from Seir and the people of Esau from Sinai?

R. We will get to that soon, but briefly, the Creator helps everybody including the sons of Esau and Ishmael to come out of the shells and reach connection. That eventually, the whole world comes to the upper degree.

23. S. (01:29:10) The children of Ishmael, Esau, and Israel really have a choice of whether to accept the Torah, or that was the wish of the Creator from the start?

R. I don't know that's what's written, if they would agree, the vessels they would receive in order to receive the Torah, I don't know that's above.

S. It says in the article that Esau is destined to acquire all six hundred twenty holy names.

R. Yes.

S. Will there be a difference in the degree of the complexity and the depth of the details in the Holy Name each soul acquires?

R. Yes, there's a difference, in the lights, and the times, and the degrees, in everything.

24. S. (01:30:48) There were questions about Ishmael and Esau, internally and externally, and basically, that we can determine if it's internal or external. It's written about the Zohar that we will be redeemed with mercy. What does it mean that if we study the Zohar, it will be revealed with mercy?

R. That we will be able to come out of exile from this connection from the Creator to redemption to reveal the Creator in mercy, and quickly.

S. Mercy is with internal work without external trouble or is it something else?

R. Yes, also without external problems.

25. S. (01:31:52) How can we understand that we have come to a state of bestowing upon the Creator?

R. We will feel it, we will feel the Creator and how we can bestow to Him.

26. S. (01:32:23) Can we say that Israel is an intermediate quality between the Creator and the rest of the nations, the rest of the desires? And the role of Israel is only to build channels of light from the Creator to the real desires?

R. For now, let it be like that.

S. Does that mean that building a screen and building channels is upon Israel and the rest of the nations have to also build a screen?

R. Yes.
