Reading: (00:31) Zelophehad Was Gathering Wood - Twice

I heard in 1947

The Zohar interprets that he was measuring which tree was bigger: the tree of life or the tree of knowledge. A righteous is called “the tree of life,” who is entirely to bestow. And in that, there is no hold to the external ones. However, wholeness lies in the tree of knowledge, the extension of Hochma [wisdom] below. This is the meaning of doing good to His creations. They must not be measured; rather, they should be, “that they may become one in your hand.”

This means that one without the other is incomplete. And Mordecai was from the quality of the tree of life, not wanting to extend anything below since he had no deficiencies. Hence, He had to increase the quality of Haman, so he would draw the lights below.

Afterward, when he disclosed his deficiency, Mordecai would receive them in the form of reception in order to bestow.

Now we can see why later, when Mordecai said good things about the King, when he saved Him from death, the King promoted Haman, who was his enemy. It is as our sages said, “according to every man’s wish,” according to the will of Mordecai and Haman, who were hateful of each other.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (05:06) We learn that the pleasure from adhesion is the most exalted thing in reality, that all of creation is actually directed to that point, that the Creator created us to reach equivalence of form, and from there it received pleasure. So what are the vessels of Haman? What else could you add after you are in Mordechai? What opens up here beyond what other pleasure is there except for the point of adhesion?

M. Laitman: Keep going.

Student: I don't know where to keep going. What is the addition of Haman? Because the will to receive will not be able to enjoy unless there is equivalence of form.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: When there is equivalence of form with the point of Mordechai, why is it not enough? What is the connection of the will to receive with the will to bestow Mordechai's intention with Haman's vessels?

M. Laitman: That's actually the heart of this article.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (07:19) In the beginning of the article he said that Zelophehad was gathering wood, and the Zohar interprets that he was measuring which tree was bigger. Afterwards, it says, however, they must not be measured. They should be, that they may become one in your hands. So, what does it mean to measure the trees and how to come to a state where you don't need to measure them anymore?

M. Laitman: I guess it's already towards the Creator and what He does. That a person cannot measure them. How much he got, how much he's bestowing. But everything's above.

Student: Afterwards, it's written that Mordechai had to increase the face of Haman. We learned that the Creator increases Haman, Mordechai can’t do it. So what does it mean that Mordechai increased, intensified the discernment, the state quality of Haman?

M. Laitman: He wanted there to be more of the discernment of Haman because then his actions in correcting Haman will be greater.

Student: And if it's conscious, you're aware of it, and there has to be this process, why do we need to come to such judgments that the people is about to be destroyed? Why is it not a process that we can do in a controlled way?

M. Laitman: How?

Student: I don't know, but if we know that we need more desires, and we need to come to it, and we need to add deficiency, I'm asking about us as well. We, for example, always say in the Ten, we are lacking desire, that we say, right? It's what we say in the society. So how do we not wait for blows? That's the main question. How to increase the deficiency without waiting for someone to come and want to destroy us?

M. Laitman: So, what do you think?

Student: I see that it's something that's not always clear, that we either kind of float in our comfort zone, or that when we want to achieve more than that, besides prayer, there's nothing much to do, just to go. It's not even sure what to go for, because there is no deficiency. So besides prayer, nothing is born. So is there something we can do in addition that will increase the deficiency in the Ten, and not wait for disasters to come from the outside? Is there anything besides prayer that we can do?

M. Laitman: No. But how to reach the prayer? It's as if the whole Torah is how to bring you to the whole prayer. Where is it?

Student: He needs to give us that as well.

M. Laitman: So we have to know what to ask for.

Student: It feels like in all of society, that request is all that's missing, so we can move to the next phase.

M. Laitman: True.

Student: So what should we do as a society in order for it to...

M. Laitman: What to do in all of society? Just like in a prayer. You have to connect and organize us all in one desire, as one man with one heart.

Student: It's something that's really felt in this society, that everyone understands it intellectually, what needs to be done, but how? We can't reach that, we can't achieve it.

M. Laitman: So discuss it between you. It's interesting. Will you have one decision, one path, one goal, one reason? That it will bring you closer.

Student: Recently you've been emphasizing the empty place in me in order to feel the friend. Is this something we need to focus on, and that will help us?

M. Laitman: That too. That too.
