Part 2:

Baal HaSulam. The Freedom (The Will to Receive—Existence from Absence)

Reading (00:19) “The Will to Receive—Existence from Absence..”

1. S. (03:08) It says that they will to receive is existence from absence, all the rest in reality cannot be considered an innovation. What is he talking about the rest here?

R. Everything is you have one cause which is the Creator from which everything extends and everything that takes place other than that, everything else, is an outcome of that cause, it’s not the first cause, that's what he wants to say,

S. We, in our reality, a person is in the will to receive.

R. Yes.

S. We only feel this existence from absence, this will to receive.

R. Yes.

S. Existence from existence we don’t feel which is not in the will to receive,

R. No, we don't feel it. We don’t feel the will to bestow, we don’t know what that is, there is no such thing and there would never be such a thing.  What we do we come to a resemblance from the will to receive to the will to bestow like that guest to the host, where the guest uses that which the hose wants to give to him and as such he performs actions where he as if bestows.

S. The existence is already something we need to build and the absence is where we are?

R. Let's say yes.

2. S. (04:54) The absence is also matter, made matter. What forces is it made of? How to work with it?

R. We didn’t speak about essence we spoke only about existence from absence and existence from existence.

S. Sorry he was asking about the absence which is about matter.

R. There’s only one matter, the will to receive that's all.

3. S. (05:49) It is written in the end of this paragraph that all matter both corporal and spiritual is spiritual matter, so is there no physical world?

R. I don't understand you. Where is it written that you’re talking about this?

S. Towards the end it says, ”all the bodies from spiritual worlds and from physical worlds are deemed spiritual or corporeal substance whose nature is the will to receive.”

R. Either spiritual or physical where its nature if the will to receive. Well?

S. What is corporeality if everything is spiritual?

R. Where is it written that it’s all spiritual? It says spiritual matter or physical matter where its nature if the will to receive.

S. They’re deemed a spiritual matter or being spiritual.

R. Or corporeal, we continue reading.

S. Okay, or corporeal substance whose nature is to want to receive.

R. Meaning all the matter is the will to receive. There is the spiritual form in order to bestow and there’s the corporeal substance in order to receive.

3. S. (07:35) It says that there's something new here because prior to creation there was nothing here and the will to receive as it is prior to everything, so the whole story he’s talking about the sun and everything, everything that was before creation that suddenly the will to receive was made. Why was that invented this will to receive, what for?

R. Before the creation we usually don't talk about that because creation is called Bar outside the degree, outside of the Creator, therefore there was created the will to receive, in this will to receive afterward everything that was created was created, and what are you asking?

S. Why was the will to receive invented, for whom for man? For whom?

R. For the creation the creation is called outside the Creator.

S. Was it specially for man this will to receive invented?

R. At the end of it all is for a person.

S. Meaning that’s a decision of creation?

R. It’s the decision of the Creator. Why are you getting confused on such simple foundations?

Reading (09:17) “Two Forces in the Will to Receive: An Attracting Force and a Rejecting Force” Twice

4. S. (12:04) In corporeality can we be in corporeality and also a spirituality to the extent that we can draw in order to bestow to the Creator?

R. I didn't get the question repeat it again

.

S. If we receive but we reject it in order to bestow is this where we can be in both worlds, this world and the spiritual world?

R. Usually no. Sometimes it turns out that yes either in this world or in the spiritual world it depends what intention we are in. We always speak from our desire, our desire is either from the will to receive or the intention to bestow, accordingly we are either in this world in order to receive or in the spiritual world in order to bestow.

5. S. (13:49) This limitation is a result of the shattering?

R. I do not understand you.

S. This rejecting aspect, the rejecting force, is that when compared to the Creator there's another factor of shattering that is hard to collect?

R. No, it’s not that way at all. It is always this desire to differentiate it if that’s a continuation of the breaking but together with that if we request we will certainly get this strength to connect. The main problem is that we do not request, that is the most important and central thing that we need, we don't need anything else no other commitments other than ask for connection and the Creator just waits for us to give us that force.

6. S. (15:16) It is not clear to me all this discernment about the attracting force and the rejecting force. If you can please expand.

R.  Why? Explain what’s unclear.

S. Attracting if I understand correctly it attracts the light but rejecting, what does it mean? What does it reject?

R. These two forces are the attracting force and a rejecting force. Where do they exist these two forces? Between the broken vessels; before that there was no such thing. After the vessel shattered then between its parts there is either forces that attract each other or forces that reject each other because the entire shattering was via the egoistic force so they have the rejecting force. If we want to connect all of these parts to one as it was before the shattering then we need, if that's the case, to ask for connection. We have no force of connection, we have only the force of egotistically using each other, that’s all we have. It turns out that everyone is in the will to receive, his own will to receive, and he wants by that to fulfill it by swallowing and bringing the others closer to himself to acquire the others, that is all that we have. What are you asking about that?

S. I think you answered thank you.

7. S. (17:26) Also about the rejecting force, it is written that the will to receive cannot receive all the quantity and quality which is outside its boundary that's why it rejects them. This is probably about pleasures, why does he reject them?

R. The desire wants to swallow what it lacks. In other words it wants to receive within itself or to reject what it sees that is unnecessary for it, harmful, foreign, that’s how the desire is built. What are you asking about that?

S. Imagining a lot of pleasure it can’t receive.

R. No, it's not a matter of big or small, deficiency and pleasure are completely equal they're completely equal. Desire can insert into it all the pleasures that surround it.

S. But he said it rejects what harms it, that’s clear, but here we are not talking about something that harms, why does it reject it?

R. Because the desire perceives it as something that is harmful for it so what it perceives is harmful for it it rejects and whatever it perceives as being sweet and pleasant for it it attracts.

8. S. (19:15) How can we balance these two forces to adhere to the Creator?

R. Repeat please.

S. How can we balance these two forces to adhere to the Creator?

R. We can use the two of them in order to bestow to the Creator. Meaning that I reject my will to receive and I attract to myself only that part which I can receive in order to bestow therefore, as a result of that I have the force of the restriction and the screen which is as the rejecting force and then I have the reflected light and a Zivug de Hakaa, coupling when striking, and a reception of the light in order to bestow which is Ohr Yashar, the direct light which becomes as Ohr Pinimi the inner light. As such inside the vessel these forces enter into balance among themselves where the vessel measures exactly how much it has of the attracting and the rejecting force where out of those two forces all in all it brings pleasure to the Creator.

9. S. (21:26) How to think every moment only thoughts of bestowal? How not to fall asleep?

R. I cannot hold one thought all the time but we lose it, we process it, we lose it, it takes it from us. We can do so only through connection between us where if it is in the connection between a few people that thought and it enters into this circulation and that it passes from one to the other and from the other back to the first et cetera, and we we don’t forget and we don't lose the intention and thoughts of ours.

10 .S. (22:35) I have some small scrutinies about the potential of the vessel of the will to receive. To begin with it’s constant, it’s determined by the root of the soul?

R. Yes.

S. And our work, we develop this potential to its full measure to expand this will to receive to turn it to bestowal?

R. That’s possible.

S. About the root of the soul, someone is there as a foot or a shoulder and we are learning, we’re all in the head. How to look at this correctly? We are always in different parts of the head?

R. We are in the entire body of Adam HaRashon in Him completely, all of us together at each and every point, but I cannot explain that, you will understand that gradually by yourselves.

11. S. (24:11) It is written that even the spiritual matter is a will to receive but we wish to access the will to bestow, so how do we obtain a force to bestow? If not through contact with the spiritual?

R. We have no force of bestowal and we cannot have. The force of bestowal itself is the Creator, it's the nature of the Creator, we only have the will to receive. If we can use the will to receive in order to bestow then it’s considered that we are in the force of bestowal, however the force of bestowal in and of itself we never have that. The desire of bestowal is the matter of the Creator the desire of the Creator.

12. S. (25:28) In front of the rejecting force you come to a state of helplessness, you don’t know if you should turn left or right in the next step. How can we reach a decision under these conditions?

R. That we will be in a place then you will understand how you need to decide when we'll be in that place, it’s impossible to explain that now.

13. S. (26:30) What is a substance? Are we talking about atoms?

R. Corporeal substances are things like atoms, molecules, et cetera.

S. What is spiritual substance?

R. Spiritual substance is the will to receive.

S. But here he’s talking about both the will to receive corporeal and spiritual that the both of their nature is the will to receive.

R. That's right as such he shows himself, it shows himself the corporeal substance in corporeality and spiritual substance in spirituality.

S. Can we understand what spiritual matter or substance is?

R. Spiritual substance or spiritual matter is the will to receive that acts from the beginning in the will to receive in order to receive.

S. How was the corporeal matter created? Why is there a difference between the two?

R. The will to receive emerged from the thought of creation to bring contentment to his creations and it developed until it became a will to receive in order to receive when it became worthy of its task, worthy of its role, and from it there was created the still, vegetative, and animate of this world. The spiritual will to receive is that intention created in order to bestow and from it emerged all the spiritual entities.

14. S. (28:47) What is a force, please. Because everything that the force is is the general system that the Creator activates out of what was said here?

R. Force is what exists in nature in the influence of one and another. You are also asking the previous question– the previous question I also didn’t answer–you’re asking questions which demand this expansion, a wide explanation. A force is what we reveal as the influence of one on another. Is that there being a cause in it or influence of the other then we can’t talk about a force. Okay friends I see that we have seemingly finished for today.
