Part 2: Baal HaSulam. Preface to the Sulam Commentary, item 62.

Reader: Hello, we're reading from the Writings of Baal HaSulam. This is the Preface to the Sulam Commentary. We are in item 62. You can find the material in the Study Materials tab in the Arvut System. Preface to the Sulam Commentary, Writings of Baal HaSulam. We are in item 62. Headline, Two Differences Between the Partzufim of GAR and the Partzufim of VAK, 62.

Reading Item 62: (00:45) Each Partzuf is emanated and born from the screen of Guf of the higher Partzuf by way of cause and consequence. This applies to all the Partzufim, from Partzuf Keter of AK, which emerged after the first restriction, to the end of the Partzufim of Assiya. They clothe each other; that is, each lower one clothes the Guf of its upper one. Concerning the meaning of Partzuf, see above (Item 57).

M. Laitman: Well, I think that's clear. Item 63.

Reading Item 63: (01:45) The Partzufim divide into Partzufim of GAR, which are Partzuf Keter, Partzuf Hochma, and Partzuf Bina, and to Partzufim of VAK: Partzuf ZAT of Bina, called YESHSUT, Partzuf ZA, and Partzuf Malchut. These three Partzufim are always considered Partzufim of VAK. Even when they receive GAR, they do not stop being VAK, since they lack KHB from their very root, as it is written in The Zohar, Mishpatim, Item 520. There is a difference between the Partzufim of GAR and the Partzufim of VAK, both in their emergence and birth and in how they clothe the Guf of the upper one.

The Partzufim of GAR exit from the Peh of Rosh of their adjacent upper one. This begins in Partzuf Keter of AK, since once Partzuf Keter of AK emerged in Rosh and Guf (see above Items 5-6), there was the clash of surrounding light and inner light in the ten Sefirot of the Guf.

This means that that light, which the coarseness of the screen detained from entering the Guf of the Partzuf, is called surrounding light. It struck the coarseness of the screen, whose inner light is dressed in its reflected light, and through this striking of the surrounding light in the coarseness on the screen, the screen in the Guf was refined, and its form equalized with the coupling screen at the Rosh of the Partzuf. This is considered that the screen of Guf rose and was incorporated in the screen at the Peh of Rosh, inside the coupling there, since equivalence of form is considered adhesion.

Hence, through its incorporation in the coupling of the Rosh, all the phases of coarseness in the screen were renewed, apart for the last phase. Then, a coupling by striking on the measure of coarseness that remained in the screen—coarseness of phase three—emerged on it from the upper light in the Rosh, and the level of Partzuf Hochma emerged on it.

At that time, it was recognized that the screen was from another phase, since the upper one is Partzuf Keter, and this level that was renewed on the screen is the level of Hochma, since the last phase had been lost. This recognition is considered “birth,” meaning it departed the level of Keter and became a distinct Partzuf that has only the level of Hochma. Thus, the source of the newly born Partzuf Hochma is the screen of Guf of the level of Keter, which refined and rose to the Peh of Rosh, and the exit, birthplace, is Peh of Rosh of Partzuf Keter (see all this in the “Preface to the Wisdom of Kabbalah,” Item 35).

After Partzuf Hochma was born and emerged from Peh of Rosh of Partzuf Keter, it is considered clothing only the Guf of Partzuf Keter, that is, GAR of Guf, which is HGT. This is because the screen of Guf is the root from which it was born. Also, it clothes only the externality of the Guf of Partzuf Keter, since the level of phase three is external to Partzuf Keter, whose level is from the reflected light of phase four. Hence, this is regarded as clothing, indicating adhesion with the externality.

M. Laitman: I don't think this is difficult. But if there are any questions, go ahead, please.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (08:11) What is it in the first restriction that prevents the light from spreading below the Tabur of each Partzuf?

M. Laitman: The upper light expands in vessels that can receive it, due to equivalence of form. This is the meaning of restriction. That's the condition in order to keep the restriction. And all the forces that are in the Partzufim, therefore, are revealed above the Tabur, and not below the Tabur. This is why, this is what influences the upper light in terms of expanding below the Tabur.

Student: The second restriction enables the light to pass through the Tabur, sometimes?

M. Laitman: The second restriction, altogether cuts the light from the first restriction, and only allows the light of the second restriction to appear.

Student: To where can the light of the second restriction expand?

M. Laitman: This already depends on the vessels. But certainly in a will to receive that can make a coupling through striking on the first restriction. Meaning, on the vessels of receiving in order to bestow, the second restriction operates there. And the Partzuf is able to perform a coupling by striking on the second restriction, and fill those vessels.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (10:46) He says that he clothes only the externality of the Partzuf of Keter. What does it mean to clothe the externality?

M. Laitman: In every Partzuf there is internality and externality. The internality is the Partzuf itself. The externality is a lower degree. He does that in order to connect with the Partzuf that follows it.

Student: That's in the refinement after the Bitush in the Tabur, when the Partzuf becomes refined?

M. Laitman: After the clash. It depends on whom we're talking about.

Student: Where does it happen, the clothing of the externality?

M. Laitman: The clothing happens below the Tabur, yes.

Student: So, it's the refinement of the Partzuf, from which the next Partzuf is now born?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: So, the exit of the lights from the Partzuf is the clothing of the next Partzuf or not?

M. Laitman: No. Another coupling by striking is required over it. When the lights come out of the Partzuf, we can say it already clothes on the lower one.

Student: So when does the clothing happen?

M. Laitman: It has to perform a coupling by striking on a lower phase, a lower discernment than before. Then it will be ready, suitable for clothing the next Partzuf that comes from the upper one.

Student: So, the Peh of Rosh of the next Partzuf of Hochma, that's where the clothing over the Keter happens?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (12:46) I have a question in advance. We’ll, I'll read and then I'll ask you. Okay. He says, ‘there's a Bitush between the inner light and surrounding light in the Ten Sefirot of Guf, which means that the light that was postponed from entering the Partzuf is called surrounding light.’ My question first is: Is there a connection between what we study here, and lets say, to make it simple, when a Ten sits together, I'm trying to observe this. So this is not theory, but meaning—if I were to make it simple, it's the work I do every day in the lesson, let's say? Everything he writes here: the clash between the surrounding light, inner light, Ten Sefirot of Guf. Can we tie that to the work of the Ten?

M. Laitman: It depends on which Ten.

Student: Let's say a Ten on a medium degree.

M. Laitman: I can't tell you. We will scrutinize this together.

Student: Okay, maybe we can understand. What is the clash of the surrounding light and the inner light in Ten Sefirot? What is that?

M. Laitman: We learned that.

Student: Can you give an example? We forgot. What is this clash between the surrounding light and the inner light?

M. Laitman: Two things that clash with each other, it's because they have an opposite nature.

Student: So, this is the work, that's the work. What is this clash, Bitush? What is it? Let's say, two people studying together the Kabbalah. What is this concept of clash between the surrounding light and the inner light? Can you explain it simply?

M. Laitman: It's impossible to explain it simply, because two people who sit, do not carry out this action of clash.

Student: How many people are needed for it to happen?

M. Laitman: No, it's not a matter of them being only two. It's that each one of them should be in attainment. His own attainment. And then between their discernments, there might be a clash, Bitush.

Student: So, it requires such a degree of already being able to bestow, yes?

M. Laitman: Of course, yes.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (15:46) If the surrounding light delays the entrance of the light, why is it called that? It seems like the surrounding light pushes to receive the light more in full, and that's why there's a refinement?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: So, if it causes that the light will want to enter deeper, then how can we say it limits the light?

M. Laitman: By limiting the light, it helps the light to enter the Partzuf. That's it. Think about it in this way.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (16:41) Why, in order to attain something, we need the conception of the souls?

M. Laitman: I don't know.

Student: Another question, is the root of man AVI?

M. Laitman: I don't know that either. Why are you asking about things that we didn't read?

Student: I don't know. It comes to me from within.

M. Laitman: It comes to you? So, why do we have to hear such questions?

Student: I don't know.

M. Laitman: You don't know that, either. So just shut up.

Student: Okay, I will do what you tell me. Please tell me what to do?

M. Laitman: Shut up.

Student: Thank you. I will.

Question (Tel Aviv 1): (17:57) From this striking of the surrounding light in the coarseness, the Masach of Guf refined and now equalized with the Rosh of the Partzuf. What is becoming equalized here? What is happening here, in simpler, more accessible words? What is becoming equalized?

M. Laitman: Again this sentence, through the striking of the surrounding light.

Student: From this beating of the surrounding light on the coarseness of the screen, the screen in the Guf was refined and its form equalized with the coupling screen at the Rosh of the Partzuf. What is becoming equalized?

M. Laitman: The screen of the Guf equalizes with the screen of the Rosh.

Student: What is the screen of the Guf? Where I say, I cannot receive anymore?

M. Laitman: Yes. But not just that, it also receives. It begins to receive, and it stops to receive. Meaning, on this whole coarseness, the screen of the Guf works.

Student: So, the Masach of Guf is when I say, this is what I can receive in order to bestow? And what does it equalize to on the other side? What is it there? What is the Masach in the Rosh of the Partzuf? The screen that couples at the Rosh?

M. Laitman: In the Rosh of the Partzuf, there is a calculation that is made. How much can I receive in order to bestow? And later on, this is carried out, executed in the Guf.

Question (Darom 1): (20:01) I heard that between two people with attainment, there is clash. The question is, between a man and a woman and Shechina among them, there's also a clash?

M. Laitman: The clash can occur in everything if there is powerful match. And besides that, all the rest is contradictory to each other. Then in these opposite things, there is a clash.

Student: We also need a goal, a common goal between a man and a woman?

M. Laitman: I don't know. We're not talking about a man and a woman. Why are you asking about that? If it's a man and a woman, go and study psychology.

Question (Kyiv 1): (21:00) It describes here in practice the birth of the Partzufim from Keter of VAK, then Hochma. Basically, in other words, he describes here the evolution of Partzufim of AB, SAG?

M. Laitman: Not just AB, SAG, all of the Partzufim. All of the Partzufim that emerge in the first restriction, this is how they behave.

Student: In practice, the birth of a new Partzuf works according to the principle, that the screen of the Guf must rise, then make a coupling on the Zivug of the Rosh. It always happens like that. Why, in order to give birth to the lower Partzuf, we have to go through this complex configuration of raising the Masach and then the Zivug?

M. Laitman: First of all, the birth can only be on the screen. On the screen, which is on one level less than before, because it's the next Partzuf. There was a screen on the previous Partzuf, and from the clash of the surrounding and inner, they united. And so, they finished the operation there. Now, there's a new operation. The records come from the previous screen that was in the Tabur and rise to the Peh of Rosh. Through these strikings, the beatings it received on its ascent from the Tabur to the Peh, now a new coarseness is revealed in it, new records. And over that, there is a coupling by striking that is done. And we end up with the next Partzuf, which is Partzuf AB that comes out of Galgalta.

Reading Item 64: (23:38) As has been explained concerning the birth of Partzuf Hochma of AK from Peh of Rosh of Partzuf Keter of AK, Partzuf Bina emerged from Peh of Rosh of Partzuf Hochma in precisely this manner. After Partzuf Hochma had been completed with Rosh and Guf, there was another clash of surrounding light and inner light, which refines the coarseness of the screen and equalizes its form with the screen of Malchut of the Rosh. Since it is included in the coupling of the Rosh, the coarseness in it has been renewed, except for the last phase, which was lost.

Then, ten Sefirot emerged on the remaining coarseness in it, coarseness of phase two, at the level of Bina. And since it has been recognized that it is a lower level than Partzuf Hochma, it is discerned as having separated from it and being born into its own domain. Yet, it clothes the Guf of the upper one, which is its root. And it also clothes the GAR of Guf at the place of HGT.

 M. Laitman: (25:24) We learned that, what happens in the birth of one Partzuf from another Partzuf. So, other questions about that? Please.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (25:47) We learned that the upper Partzuf and the lower one have a connection of coarseness of clothing like phase four of coarseness, three of clothing?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Meaning, this is a direct connection between the previous Partzuf, and the one that falls?

M. Laitman: It would have been tight or direct.

Student: It's like in all these excerpts he wants to talk about the connection between GAR and VAK.

M. Laitman: So, a lower Partzuf relative to the upper Partzuf equalizes, not with its coarseness, but rather its refinement.

Student: And what is it, he's saying here? That it's going to the Malchut of the screen of the previous Partzuf like it has some kind of special connection in the expanse of the previous one?

M. Laitman: It was born out of there. So, how come it will not be connected? It was born out of the record of the upper Partzuf. And it expands from the place where it was born and below in its Rosh and Guf.

Student: And that's the approach in each of the Partzufim of GAR?

M. Laitman: In all of these Partzufim, yes.

Student: But, in the Partzufim of ZAT, how does he call them, VAK? It will be a different approach, yes?

M. Laitman: Well, we will see.

Student: So, in the Partzufim of GAR, what do we have? We have this Keter, Hochma, Bina in the world of AK? And in Atzilut it's also the same thing? Atik AA?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: AVI, also?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (28:01) When they say that the last phase is lost, it's because a decision was made in the Rosh not to work with that desire? Because then it will come out in the form of, in order to receive?

M. Laitman: Again?

Student: They say that in the new coupling, the last phase is lost?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: It's because a decision is made in the Rosh not to work with that desire, because then it will be in order to receive?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: That's also where they say, that she doesn't leave a record behind? The last phase?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: It's for the same reason, that she doesn't leave it?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (29:00) Just like it was asked that the last phase is lost. It's not because he already realized it in the previous degree?

M. Laitman: No. He doesn't have a screen on this coarseness. The screen was refined. He used the desire on a lower level of coarseness.

Student: The next Partzuf?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: I'm talking about phase four. Actually, the last phase is lost, because he implemented that discernment, that phase at a certain level. Not like in the end of the Partzuf.

M. Laitman: He realized or actualized this screen with phase four. Now, he's left with a screen at phase three.

Student: So, I didn't understand the answer to the friend, that it's refined. I don't know. The friend asked about the phase being lost, because it doesn't want to enter in order to receive.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: So, to the part of the Sof of the Partzufim means, but the part of the Guf it's realized.

M. Laitman: He realized it, or used it as much as possible. These are trivial things. I don't know.

Reading Item 65: (30:43) The three Partzufim of VAK—YESHSUT, ZA, and Malchut—emerged in this very way, except there are two differences in them:

1. Their lower one does not emerge from the Peh of Rosh of its adjacent upper one, but from the Peh of Rosh of the one above its upper one. For example, ZA does not emerge from Peh of Rosh of YESHSUT, but only after YESHSUT has become one Partzuf with AVI, which are one above its upper one. Similarly, Nukva does not emerge from Peh of Rosh of ZA, but only after ZA has risen to AVI. Likewise, Partzuf Atik of Atzilut did not emerge from the first Rosh of Nekudim, but from the Rosh of SAG of AK. The reason is that these Roshim [pl. of Rosh], considered VAK from their very root, are unfit for coupling with the upper light in a way that they can emanate a lower Partzuf.

2. This concerns the clothing: The Partzufim of VAK do not clothe GAR of Guf of their upper one, HGT, but VAK of the Guf of the upper one, which is NHY from the Chazeh downward. Since they are VAK at their root, they cannot cling to GAR of Guf of the upper one. Thus, the two differences between the Partzufim of GAR and the Partzufim of VAK have been thoroughly clarified: One concerns the emergence, where only Partzufim of GAR emerge from the Peh of their adjacent upper one. This is not so in the Partzufim of VAK, which emerge from the one above their upper one. And the other concerns the clothing, that only Partzufim of GAR can cling to the HGT of the upper one, which are GAR of Guf, but not the Partzufim of VAK, which cling only from the Chazeh downward in the VAK of Guf.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (33:53) I didn't understand how you can suddenly jump, after all the lower upper upper one is like this permanent function. How does this leap from the lower one to the one above our upper one?

M. Laitman: From the lower one to the upper of the upper one? It's impossible.

Student: So, how does the Partzuf emerge from the one that's his upper upper and not from the one above him?

M. Laitman: That's the second difference?

Student: The first difference.

M. Laitman: The lower one does not emerge from the Peh of the Rosh of its adjacent upper one, but from the Peh of Rosh of the one above its upper one. For example, ZA does not emerge from the Peh of Rosh of Yesod, but only after Yesod has become one Partzuf with AVI. Likewise, the Nukva does not emerge from the Peh of Rosh of ZA, but only after… And likewise, Partzuf Atik of Atzilut did not emerge from the first Rosh of Nekudim, but from the Rosh of SAG of AK. The reason is, he says, the reason is that these Roshim, heads, considered VAK from the very root, are unfit for coupling with the upper light in a way that they can emanate a lower Partzuf.

Student: I'm sorry, but what does that mean?

M. Laitman: That these Roshim, plural of Rosh or heads, that were now formed in the world of Nekudim, they can't give birth to Partzufim like the previous Roshim that are above the Tabur, under the first restriction. They can't do that. Therefore, he says that they are all in the state of VAK. In the state of VAK towards the root, as he says. Therefore, they can only give birth to Partzufim that are in such a state. So that the lower one, as he says, the lower one does not emerge from the Peh of the Rosh of its adjacent upper one, but from the Peh of Rosh of the one above its upper one. This means that it's not sufficient for it to rise only one degree in order to give birth to the next Partzuf, but two degrees.

Student: Does this happen in another place, this ascent of two degrees?

M. Laitman: No, only here.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (36:54) The first difference that he writes here, about the Partzufim of VAK, where the lower one can connect to the upper one. Is that already working with three lines?

M. Laitman: No, it's in general.

Student: Altogether?

M. Laitman: It's a rule, okay.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (37:27) You answered the friend that these Partzufim have to kind of skip. But its upper one is also from VAK. The reason is that the Roshim are VAK at their root, and are unfit for couplings with the upper light in a way that they can emanate a lower Partzuf. But ZA, too, for example, doesn't come out from the Peh of the Rosh of YESHSUT, but it becomes one possible with AVI, which are the upper upper one. But AVI are also VAK, according to what he says here.

M. Laitman: AVI are the one above the upper one.

Student: But if they are VAK at their root, as he says...

M. Laitman: Well, we will see soon.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (39:06) Can it be said that the Partzufim of GAR belong to AK and the VAK belong to Nekudim, Atzilut, and BYA? And they are in a completely different style?

M. Laitman: Well, there is something to that. Yes, we will see soon. There is a great addition in the world of Atzilut. Please, continue.

Reader: Heading, Three Conditions for the Emergence of a Lower Partzuf, item 66.

Reading Item 66: (39:40) There are three conditions for a coupling to beget a lower Partzuf:

The first condition is the screen that makes a coupling with the upper light in coupling by striking and raises reflected light, which clothes the upper light. The level of the lower one is according to the measure of clothing of reflected light (as written in the “Preface to the Wisdom of Kabbalah,” Item 21). Similarly, after the screen elicited all the Partzufim and degrees in the world of Nekudim, they did not persist but broke and canceled, and the screen was refined of all five phases of coarseness in it, returned to Rosh of SAG (as written in The Study of Ten Sefirot, Part 8, Items 2, 4), and all the degrees that emerged in Nekudim left their records in the screen.

Hence, when the screen was included in the coupling in Rosh of SAG, its previous records were renewed in it. Initially, the screen elicited its highest phase, the record of Partzuf Keter, called Atik of Atzilut, at a coarseness of phase four. The rest of the records, which remained in the screen, emerged along with the birth of Atik to the place of Atik.

And once Atik had been completed, there was a coupling by striking in it, on the highest phase in the remainder of the screen within it, which is phase three, and elicited the level of AA on it. The rest of the records in the screen, on which the coupling by striking had not yet been made, descended along with the birth of AA to the place of AA.

And when AA was completed, a coupling was made in it on the highest phase in the remainder of the screen, which is phase two, and elicited the level of AVI, etc., similarly. Thus, all the Partzufim emerge through a coupling by striking of the upper light with the screen.

M. Laitman: (42:38) Well here it's actually a process that is clear.

Reading Item 67: (42:54) Twice. The second condition is that Keter and Hochma of each lower one are attached to the Bina and TM of their upper one. Hence, when the upper one is completed and raises its Bina and TM, Keter and Hochma of the lower one rise along with them to the place of the upper one (see above Item 20) and are included in the coupling of the upper one. Thus, each lower one receives its level from the coupling of the Rosh of the upper one.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (44:27) It's interesting. He writes, therefore when the upper one is completed when it's been entombed, Keter rises to the place of the upper one. We spoke about records first. What activates the system here? The records?

M. Laitman: The records is the main thing.

Student: Where do the records come from?

M. Laitman: It's data upon which the new couplings come, and this is how the Partzufim are born.

Student: From where do these records come? We don't activate them, right? Let's try to explain, to understand this. These records, which he says activate the system. He says they activate the system. What causes it? What button is pressed to make these records activate the system?

M. Laitman: The screen.

Student: Okay, what causes this screen? What's the screen that activates the records?

M. Laitman: The refinement of the Partzuf.

Student: So it's work between two people, work between us which activates the system. The system doesn't work just like that, the records don't come, right?

M. Laitman: Right.

Student: And these records have to be activated by people's behavior. Otherwise, there are no records.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: It's interesting, you know, because these records, I'm trying to understand, people who don't study Kabbalah, do they, too, have records?

M. Laitman: In each one.

Student: So, what's the difference between records of people who study Kabbalah, versus those who don't study Kabbalah?

M. Laitman: The records are in each Partzuf, in every created being, still, vegetative, animate, and speaking. That's it. And every time the records change, and they come and perform couplings, and new Partzufim come out from those couplings.

Student: So, records are activated from above?

M. Laitman: Of course, by the upper light.

Student: So it's as if there's a plan, the records have to be carried out, nothing's going to help.

M. Laitman: Correct.

Student: Can I change the records? Are there good records and bad records?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: So if you have troubles or good things, it all comes from the records.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: And it depends on how I use it.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Can I make the records better?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: How?

M. Laitman: They tell you, perform commandments, do all kinds of actions, that by this you scrutinize the records, and raise records closer to the Creator.

Student: So basically, you're saying I can make my life better in this world by my behavior?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: According to what you say here, I can change my reality?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: In other words, the current state we see today, the difficulties around are because we're not doing our work well enough with the records?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: So if we work better with the records, we could change reality?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Oh, this is great. All right, thank you.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (48:38) What is a screen? Is it vessels that change their role?

M. Laitman: The screen is the force to overcome. That the created being decides that it wants to resemble the Creator, to do what the Creator wants. So he searches for forces how to become against his own will to receive. And he finds that force in the upper light itself. That the forces from the upper light shining on him let him exist above his own will to receive. That's how he can work with this force called a screen.

Student: To where is the reflected light reflected?

M. Laitman: The reflected light reflects back to the place where it came from.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (49:52) He explains here that there is adhesion of the lower one with the upper one. So Keter and Hochma of the lower one are adhered to the Bina and TM of the upper one. This adhesion is so strong that afterwards he says that when the upper one rises, the lower one is attached to it and rises with it. What is adhesion with the upper one?

M. Laitman: Adhesion with the upper one is that you want to be adhered to Him upon whatever happens. You see, even if the upper one ascends, the lower one ascends with Him.

Student: So you really kind of operate with the upper one totally?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Now, to continue with what the friend asked about the screen. If we, in the Ten, we have the Congress coming up and we'll work in the Ten, and our goal is to build a common screen, right?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: So first of all, this common screen that we create, does it create a Partzuf, or a vessel, or what does it create? What are we creating in our Ten?

M. Laitman: First of all, connection between everybody. Then screens upon those connections, that you every time want to ascend, and work in records that are more exalted every time.

Student: And every time we raise the quality of our connection we create different Partzufim, or is it the same Partzuf for the Ten?

M. Laitman: I don't understand.

Student: The Ten, you said it creates, you said there are several kinds of screens to the system of connections between us, and this we have to increase in quality.

M. Laitman: According to the records that awaken, in this way it creates the Partzufim.

Student: So basically, the Ten is a system that creates several Partzufim, it's not one vessel made of, it's made of several Partzufim, as you say. And as a Ten, how do we adhere to the upper one? With what, in what do we adhere to the upper one?

M. Laitman: By equalizing to Him in something.

Student: I know that we, through incorporation with the lessons that we've been washed over by it for many years, we more or less understand where you are directing us. How, where should we make that extra squeeze in order to really grip onto the upper one?

M. Laitman: What did you say?

Student: Oh, I'm sorry, the pressure. What do we press now, in order to really, as a Ten, cling to the upper one?

M. Laitman: Prayer, common prayer between you, to the Creator, to help you adhere to Him?

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (53:06) I have it written from previous years. I want to see if I wrote correctly. Within me, there's a woman, which is the coarseness, and there's a coupling with a man, who is the screen, and then a new Partzuf is born, which is attainment, it's called attainment. Why is a new Partzuf attainment?

M. Laitman: It's what you attain, that's what you come to in your work. That you ask of the Creator to help you perform the coupling by striking and get another portion of the upper light inside it, in that new Partzuf. In this way you reach a new state.

Student: So, a coarseness is revealed, which is additional desire, and then there's overcoming of it, which is the screen. So if I overcome it, something new is born. So, what is it that we attain?

M. Laitman: In that new Partzuf, you attain what happens in there, the vessels and the lights. That all in all, it builds a new Partzuf that has vessels with the lights inside.

Student: But in the essence, what do we attain? Pleasure or what? What is in there?

M. Laitman: Yes, pleasure, by now bestowing to the Creator.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (54:57) How does adhesion between the AHP of the upper one and the GE of the lower one happen? The vessels of reception of the upper one, and here we have the vessels of bestowal of the lower one. So, there has to be some sort of a process of matching between them. It's not like they can just adhere and that's it, no?

M. Laitman: You could say that, instantly.

Student: Immediate? It's immediately?

M. Laitman: Yes, if he asks for it, he receives it.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (55:37) Several great friends told me to keep my prayer within my Ten. I'm trying over and over again to focus my prayer only in my Ten, and yet, every time I awaken with a broad prayer that encompasses all the friends. How do I limit my prayer to remain within the boundaries of my Ten?

M. Laitman: You think of them, and you incorporate with them, with your Ten. That's why all of your deficiency is in them too.

Student: But all of a sudden, I lose focus of the prayer.

M. Laitman: Okay, so try again, and again, and again, until you get there.

Student: I just need to aim for the center of my Ten?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (57:18) Below the world of Atzilut, are there Partzufim?

M. Laitman: Of course.

Student: Like…

M. Laitman: The Partzufim of the worlds of BYA.

Student: Are they the same type of Partzufim, or something else?

M. Laitman: Same type. Atik, AA, AVI, ZON in every world of the worlds of BYA.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (57:54) He writes that Keter and Hochma of the lower one are adhered to the Bina and TM of the upper one. So when the upper one rises, the lower one rises too. Seems to me like I'm attached to the upper one, but the upper one isn't rising. What causes Bina and TM of the upper one to ascend?

M. Laitman: Your prayer.

Student: So, I should ask of Him to ascend?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: I'm asking, I'm adhered to Him, I annul before Him, but He's still not rising.

M. Laitman: Check.

Student: So what's missing, what precision do I need to make in the prayer?

M. Laitman: First, you find the AHP of the upper one. Then, pray to it.

Student: Let's say that you are the AHP of my upper one.

M. Laitman: No.

Student: Is the Ten the AHP of my upper one?

M. Laitman: That could be.

Student: So, I'm adhered to the upper one, I to the Ten. I do whatever the Ten does, and it's not rising.

M. Laitman: The question: if that's adhesion.

Student: I do everything I have to, I mean I participate in all the activities.

M. Laitman: Who said that's all you need to do?

Student: So what does it mean to adhere to the Ten and rise?

M. Laitman: I don't know, read more and more until it gets clarified.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (59:30) In the process of the restriction, the screen, and the reflected light, what depends on me?

M. Laitman: Everything.

Student: Doesn't it work, like, half me and half the Creator? Because There's None Else Besides Him, everything depends on Him, obviously, on the one hand. Meaning, I can't just determine that now I'm restricting myself. I have to receive some strength from above in order to do it.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: So what depends on me? You're saying raising MAN, prayer, deficiency.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: How do you perform raising MAN? Through what? What do I want to achieve?

M. Laitman: I don't know, you tell me?

Student: I want to obtain a vessel through which the light will pass.

M. Laitman: So ask for it. That's what you ask for.

Student: And in terms of my desire, for example, to be favored, to be liked by the Creator.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Asking for it is not enough. I ask to also do some internal action that the Creator will like.

M. Laitman: The fact that you're canceling your will to receive and want to adhere to Him, that between you there won't be any separation, so that's something you have to show. Not for yourself, and you ask for it to happen.

Student: I once heard you say that if I like the Creator, it certainly means that the Creator likes me.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: But in the end, He makes me like Him.

M. Laitman: So what's your question?

Student: How do you come to this process, to this cycle?

M. Laitman: Ask. Just ask. There's nothing more than your plea.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:02:39) He says here that in the first condition, the Partzufim come out from a coupling by striking. And in the second condition, when they're incorporated in the upper coupling, each lower one receives its level from a coupling of the Rosh of the upper one. What's the difference between the first condition where it's born from the coupling by striking, and the second condition, where it receives its level? What is its level?

M. Laitman: The light that with it, it can stabilize itself on the new degree, the new state.

Student: A Partzuf is born from a coupling by striking, and then it's filled, it receives ten Sefirot. What kind of quality of a level is it? Does it receive Mochin? What does it receive?

M. Laitman: Yes, let's say Mochin, yes.

Student: And it becomes a complete Partzuf?

M. Laitman: If it's born, so it's a whole Partzuf.

Student: Why is it born? That's the first condition. What is the difference between the first condition and the second condition? It's born from above. And here there's some sort of a… it causes an ascent. What's the difference between one and the other?

M. Laitman: The second condition speaks about a part of the lower Partzuf clothing the part of the upper Partzuf. And as a result, the upper one raises them together. And these parts are included in the coupling of the upper one, and then a Partzuf is born on it.

Student: Another Partzuf?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: But he says that the level of the lower Partzuf comes out, as if the lower Partzuf existed, and now it receives an additional illumination from the upper one.

M. Laitman: It's a new level because of the coupling of the upper one.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:05:14) What does it give to the lower one to adhere to the Guf of the upper one? It's got its own records, and coarseness, and records of refinement that the upper one left for it. The upper one strikes its screen. It seems like it's independent.

M. Laitman: It seems to you like it's independent, but it's a lower one.

Student: Yes, but why does it need to be adhered to the Guf of the upper one? What does it give it?

M. Laitman: This is its origin.

Student: I understand it's its origin, but in order to govern itself, it's got all the data. What does it give to it, the connection to the upper one?

M. Laitman: That it receives from the upper one.

Student: What does it receive from the upper one?

M. Laitman: Discernments and powers.

Student: Where does the upper one raise it to if in the upper one, the actions that the lower one needed to do didn't happen yet?

M. Laitman: The lower one that raises a request, the upper one executes, carries out the request.

Student: What's the screen of the lower one? What does it do if everything is done by the upper one?

M. Laitman: The upper one performs couplings with the upper light, but that light afterwards is extended to the lower one, and the lower one also makes a coupling by striking on it.

Student: Every action the lower one goes through, the upper one already did it for him?

M. Laitman: Yes, of course.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:07:12) The reflected light is a result that I don't want to receive, right?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: So, I don't feel the reflected light inside, it's something on the outside, direct light, reflected light, it's not something I can feel.

M. Laitman: You can say so.

Student: So they're much stronger than inner light, like essentially?

M. Laitman: No. The reflected light that clothes the direct light becomes inner light.

Student: So you can't feel direct light and reflected light, the vessel can't feel it?

M. Laitman: It is possible to feel it, but it's not like something you receive in your vessels, in the will to receive.

Student: Does the Creator enjoy the reflected light? It's something that He feels and He receives as pleasure?

M. Laitman: The Creator? What are you saying about the Creator?

Student: The reflected light, if I understand correctly, I can't feel it in my vessels. So I'm saying, I can't feel it, so the reflected light reaches the Creator, He enjoys it. Otherwise, it's a situation that neither I or Him enjoy.

M. Laitman: No, you enjoy the reflected light because it's a light that you want the Creator to receive from you.

Student: But the Creator doesn't need that light, supposedly, He's filled too.

M. Laitman: We don't talk about what the Creator needs or doesn't need. You can't talk about it this way.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:09:23) In 67 he writes that the lower one adheres to the upper one, and then the upper one, with his GAR completes the lower one.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: The upper one, without the lower one adhering to Him, can it raise anything? Because he says he's raising his own AHP.

M. Laitman: Yes, but it raises its AHP in order to bestow upon the lower one. Otherwise, why should it raise its AHP?

Student: Meaning He needs the lower one more than the lower one needs Him?

M. Laitman: No, no, no, no. It's according to the request of the lower one.

Student: Yes, but He gave birth to the lower one for a certain need, maybe even for Himself.

M. Laitman: Yes, so?

Student: So the whole reason the Partzuf was born, because he couldn't receive it on his own, so he gave birth to a new Partzuf.

M. Laitman: No, it's not because of a deficiency. On the contrary, it is because he wants to add in bestowal.

Student: He couldn't bestow on his own vessel on the current Partzuf, so he gave birth to a new Partzuf. The screen ascended, and he could give birth to a new Partzuf in order to be able to do something that he couldn't do in his own Partzuf anymore.

M. Laitman: Well?

Student: That's why he needs that adhesion in order to ascend and bestow, to be that pipeline for the lower one.

M. Laitman: Yes, of course. You want to say this? So the lower Partzuf are born so that, because the upper Partzuf wants to delight the Creator through them.

Student: Yes, otherwise he can't do it.

M. Laitman: Okay.

Student: The world of Atzilut, it works on its own, or is it also feeding from the upper worlds?

M. Laitman: The world of Atzilut certainly needs the upper light that comes to it through the world of AK. But basically, all it does is add in bestowal upon the Creator. It's got no deficiencies other than a deficiency to bestow.

Student: Atzilut, we say it comes from the word Aitzlo. It's like one thing, isn't it? Or is there a separation here between the Atzilut? And I don't know how to ask this. It's something that…

M. Laitman: Atzilut is a whole world in and of itself. But with respect to the lower one, it's got a deficiency that it wants to bestow, to extend. And this is why it engenders the worlds of BYA.

Student: I'll continue scrutinizing it, thank you.

Reading Item 68: (01:13:03) The third condition is that ZA rises to YESHSUT and completes and unites the lights of the right and left of YESHSUT. Had it not been for the ascent of ZA for MAN, the right and left of YESHSUT would have been unable to shine. It follows that the ascent of ZA to YESHSUT caused the elicitation of the three lines—right, left, and middle—which are HBD of YESHSUT.

There is a rule: The lower one is rewarded with the full measure of light that it causes its illumination in the upper one. Hence, ZA receives the same Mochin of HBD from YESHSUT. This is the meaning of “Three emerge from one; one exists in three” (as it is written in The Zohar, Bo, and above in Item 52). Thus, we have explained the three conditions for the coupling to elicit the lower one.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:14:40) Why does ZA complete the left and right of YESHSUT?

M. Laitman: It's the lower one. This is why when it raises itself, its deficiency is to YESHSUT. YESHSUT makes a coupling by striking on these deficiencies, and receives the light of Hochma, and bestows it downwards purportedly.

Student: Where is the work between right and left here?

M. Laitman: Within the incorporation in ZA.

Student: What does the left do and what does the right do in this coupling?

M. Laitman: How should I put it more easily? Clearly. Right and left are, let's say, Hassadim and Hochma, which should be balanced. And then they will clothe one another, and the upper light can appear in them.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:16:16) The lower Partzuf is entirely a created being of the upper Partzuf, right?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: So how can the lower one do an action that helps the upper one advance?

M. Laitman: Through its request.

Student: But he was born from it, so what does his plea renew in the upper one?

M. Laitman: It's got records that awaken in it, deficiencies, corruptions, and then through demanding this of the upper one, the upper one is obligated, must attend to it. And then by this the upper one has more coarseness and more opportunities to receive from above.

Student: The desires of the lower one weren't clear to the upper one before he raised them?

M. Laitman: Of course they were. So what?

Student: So why does he need the lower one? I don't get it.

M. Laitman: In order for the lower one to awaken a deficiency. Then the upper one will provide that deficiency gladly. And by this the upper one enjoys when it bestows upon the lower one, say like a baby with a woman. And from this, as a result, the lower one grows as well.

Student: The purpose of the upper one is to increase the lower one or to give contentment to his upper one?

M. Laitman: Yes, that too. But how can it do something for the sake of the upper one? Only by having a lower one that will awaken it with deficiencies, and then it'll raise that deficiency to the upper one. And then from the upper one to the upper upper one, and that way the light passes.

Student: When the upper one creates the lower one..

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: is there a chance that the lower one won't do what the upper one wanted him to do to begin with?

M. Laitman: No, it can't be.

Student: Yes, it can't be. That means that the purpose of the upper one when creating the lower one was in order to enrich the system? What does he need the lower one for?

M. Laitman: In order to extend the upper light to delight the Creator. The Creator enjoys us turning to Him, and demanding, and receiving from Him, so this is what all the Partzufim do, as much as they can.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:19:26) The relation between YESHSUT and ZA awakens a lot of questions. Rabash has a short article of incorporating the judgment with the mercy, where he explains everything, how it actually happens.

M. Laitman: Okay, now it may be a little late, but remind us next time.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:19:58) He says that by ZA ascending to YESHSUT, it brought three lines. What makes ZA ascend to YESHSUT? What's the essence of that action? Where did it come from?

M. Laitman: ZA ascends to YESHSUT because YESHSUT is its upper one. It is born from it. Therefore, in every state where there's a deficiency in ZA, it naturally turns to YESHSUT, connects to it, and as a result, receives.

Student: So it's like a magnet pulling him. Like a magnet.

M. Laitman: Magnet? I don't know.

Student: We learned that coupling by striking is... Is there a state that we won't be able to perform the coupling by striking and fall? Because that's a whole story. So if you can't perform it, what happens?

M. Laitman: Then you'll suffer a couple of blows, and then you'll be able to withstand it.

Student: So this whole process of the beating, and the coupling, and everything around it, we have to withstand those conditions, so it's a process that can start. And it happens to me, and in the middle you fall. The striking comes, and the blow is a... you get a blow, and I fall every time. So how can I rise above the beating in life? Everything that's written here is part of our life. How can I stand this? What helps me?

M. Laitman: The greatness of the Creator.

Student: I want to remind you something. A few years ago, we talked about it. You told me you always have to think that everyone in front of you is the Creator. And you have to respect that, and annul towards the one standing before you. And if you do that, you'll be able to do it. You have to annul before the state. You remember you told me that many years ago? So I fall there every time. And sometimes I say something not to the point, or I get insulted. How can I overcome getting hurt or getting beaten here?

M. Laitman: Prayer.

Student: Only to pray? That's what helps me, to pray? I prayed a lot. It didn't help me.

M. Laitman: A prayer is…

Student: So I didn't pray good. Who can help me stand such a beating?

M. Laitman: Only the Creator can help. And only when you pray.

Student: So only prayer can help?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:23:50) If there's a Ten that wants to give contentment to the upper one, and what you said a few minutes ago, so they need a lower one that they can work with. What is the lower one of a Ten? Am I, as a friend of the Ten, the lower one in the Ten, or is the lower one in the Ten something outside of us?

M. Laitman: Whatever is lacking to you, to the members of the Ten, this is your lower one.

Student: So we, as the Ten, want to give contentment to the upper one. Let's say we have a convention, and let's say we want to support the convention, the friends. So what does it mean that that becomes our lower one?

M. Laitman: That you care for it, hold it, warm it.

Student: I can't grasp it somehow that our desire to overcome becomes our lower one, I don't get it?

M. Laitman: It'll come. It will come.

M. Laitman: Okay, what do we do next?

Reader: So we can go to the next part. Preparation for the Congress, Growing Stronger in the Ten.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Or continue this, whatever you say.

M. Laitman: So, Getting Stronger in the Ten.

Reader: So, next part of the lesson.
