Convention "World Kabbalah L'Am" - "Discovering Life in the Ten"
1. Rav’s Introduction: Indeed, in order to discover the Creator, we need His qualities, but we cannot locate His qualities directly, we cannot receive them because they are the Creator’s qualities, they are not ours and in order to be created beings we have to have qualities that are opposite and His qualities, both. If we know how to keep the qualities that are opposite of the Creator, the revelation of darkness that we determine as darkness, then also the discovery of the Creator Himself, then we can come to His revelation. So, our entire work is to discover our true qualities, feel them, understand them, understand they are ours and that we wish to rise from them, above them to the opposite qualities from reception to bestowal, from hate to love and then when we have these two qualities that are right and left for us, they are clearly there, two opposite, from that we begin to compile the image of the Creator. He begins to be clear to us meaning we don't attain something that's outside of us, rather we attain BoReh, come and see. Where from these two qualities the Creator created in us, the quality of reception, the quality of bestowal, repulsion and connection, from these two we put together eventually the middle line beginning to attain Him, since who is He, we cannot say now, but that same root, as for the bad and for the good that will be revealed in the middle between the two, is giving us the attainment of the Creator.
Therefore, we need not flee the evil but hold on to it as we hold on to the good. We don't need to move away from the evil, just to hate it, because it’s a quality that is opposite the Creator but in hating it and at the same time, to maintain it. I'm sorry for that, thunder and lightning, so that's it. Let's go to the topic because the attainment of the Creator depends on equating with these two qualities that are opposite to Him and His own qualities, and then the more we gradually move away from the form of reception and acquire the form of bestowal on top of the form of reception. The same way we approach the Creator, the feeling of the Creator until we begin to unite with Him and cleave to Him. That's why we have to understand that the Creator must conceal Himself. It's not His desire one way or another rather He did it in order to give us an opportunity to exist and because we are opposite from Him and are in the quality of reception we can clothe on us the quality of His form and to that extent approach Him and attain Him, but this opposite quality remains in us and that is our foundation for the entire path. Therefore, on the one hand, the Creator is pushing us apart and on the other hand, He is pushing us towards the connection between us and then this way we attain Him from a thing and it's opposite. Baal HaSulam writes about it nicely. Let's go to the verses and learn the topic of the lesson is the means for the greatness of the Creator annulment and total soul devotion in the ten.

2. R. If everything is revealed from its opposite, meaning I cannot reveal the Creator unless I first attain the qualities that are opposite to Him then to the extent I reveal qualities that are similar to him then the connection and the contradiction between the qualities I can depict Him and imagine him, it's the advantage of light out of darkness. So how do we discover that in the ten do I need to remember all my negative impressions from the friends and from that to compile a form and its opposite as the form of my ego that I would depict them. Specifically, over that, cover them in love and maintain these two forms meticulously. It's possible that without these discernments if I don't remember them, if I don't absorb them, arrange them, build them, I cannot acquire the vessels which later I can reveal the Creator. So what the Creator did He created the group in order to develop the qualities of reception in the quality of bestowal. He pushes us towards connection with the friends and also places us in opposition to the friend. What else should the Creator do to help us develop quickly, as quickly as possible at the right pace and also the qualities to acquire such qualities of light and darkness what else are we missing to discover Him, to reveal Him? That's the question.
3. S. (09:39) Rav, you said that we need to hate the qualities that don't allow us to attain the goal but without doubting the Creator, the question is what is the difference to hate the qualities and without accepting them?
R. No. There are several forms of concealment, the general form the Creator is concealed, the upper force is governing us and leading us in each and every moment, in our existence in this life is concealed. We have nothing to say about it because we need to come closer, to gradually discover it and then it will be revealed slowly. Whereas when we are discussing the friends, our relationship also our relationship towards what we are discovering in our state, relative to our life and seemingly comes to us from the Creator, here things are more open, rather not completely concealed and your question you actually begged at the question the Creator, who is He, what is He, does He exist, I don't know anything? We're not approaching the concept of the Creator in such a way because we have no vessels for it. We understand that we cannot approach attainment in this way. In order for us to begin to discover him, we need to first discover the qualities that are suitable for his attainment. That is why we need to first arrange these two qualities in nature, separation and connection, in the connection between us on the highest level in nature, the still, the animate and speaking the level of speaking we have to reach a level of connection, a state of connection, maximum connection, why do we need it?
Because all of our advancement, all of our development in nature, comes to us as a result of connection between two opposites. We see it in all the material substances in chemistry and physics and wherever you look the level of science of understanding depends on the extent to which we discover qualities of connection over qualities of opposition, of contradiction. The same goes for the human species who is the most developed. The more we see ourselves and as much or the more we are opposite, the more we hate each other and so on and so forth. If we develop, our nature is also pushing us towards connection except in a very simple primitive way, very slow way. We nevertheless change forms, going from disconnection to connection, from revealing the disconnect to revealing the connection more and more, throughout the years of our development of our evolution. By the time we come to the rest of our progress we make, in understanding nature, we understand that nature is appearing to us according to the degrees of separation and the connection. Look what's happening to us now in America and Russia and each and every place. You see more and more separation previously wasn't so felt in society and now it is acutely felt, those hate the others in America and those hate the others in Russia of course there are places that haven't been revealed and it's ahead of us. For that we have China, Japan and Europe and everyone why?
Because above the separation we will have to by ourselves, by our own consciousness, awareness, understanding will have to compile the connection, that's it. It's called as light excels from darkness, that's how it's going to be revealed, when will it be done? On these levels, still, vegetative animate and speaking, various levels of corporeal and spiritual substance until we'll be able to reconcile the separation in connection onto the highest degree. This will take place in the highest, most subtle relationship between people, to the extent we will discover the separation between us and various ways between all sorts of people and the connection together with that on top of the disconnect and the separation and the feeling of one versus the other one relative to the other will give us the feeling of the upper force who created these forms as the middle line. And in this way will come to the understanding, the awareness, the revelation, the connection with the upper force. Since it will exist in us and we don’t attain anything outside of us as we learned in the introduction or The Preface to the Book of Zohar. Attaining all of the world and all of reality, everything is attained inside of a person, not outside of us as it appears to us. Therefore, only in correcting this vessel of ours in each and every one. Then later we see that it's not and everyone rather it's all of us as one, when there is no separation between us then we discover the upper force the single force, who is like a middle line between separation and connection in these two forms, it's also above them it's not included of the two rather we as created beings are able to put together as ask His image, His form we can learn about Him.
4. S. (19:44) The topic of the third lesson is annulment and devotion in the ten as a means for attaining the greatness of the Creator, adhesion can it be said that annulment of self-love to the vessel? We keep saying that we don't cancel anything, we keep the bad but we cover it with love but here it says we fight against it and cancel it?
R. If I revoke the evil and refrain from using it it doesn't mean that I'm canceling the evil that's in me because that's my nature and I cannot cancel anything of my nature, nothing. I advance in the wisdom of Kabbalah in acquiring qualities of bestowal, but how do I acquire them? To the extent the quality of reception is revealed in me, I want to cheat everyone and steal, lie, any bad thing I want to do to the other half, or that I discover my ability to be the opposite. I try, I pray and I acquire these qualities of bestowal and I always like that, you cannot have one quality without the other you can't have plus without minus, there's no such thing. So although we say that a person seemingly disconnects from evil and he does not or you can say he disconnects but evil remains in him because without the evil inside of him he cannot be good. We need to understand that only using the quality of bestowal, love, connection above all evil qualities, this is the way to advance there's no other way.
5. S. (22:02) How can we keep the good and the bad simultaneously in the ten in order to please the Creator and advance?
R. We need to think more and more that about the good in the bad are relative, they're all relative. In a sense the revelation of the Creator is neither in the good or the bad but in the connection between them, is finding the middle line between them. When there we can locate the upper force from both. That's why we say I've created the evil inclination, as darkness, the quality of reception, and created the Torah as a spice, the light, because the light in it reforms and because both the evil inclination, our ego and the good inclination, the light, the connection neither can exist without the other and relative to us, the created beings therefore as a person advances towards the goal then he who is greater than his friend his inclination is greater. As the ego grows, becomes greater but he knows how to subjugate it, how to maintain it, as the left line and he will not have any way to reach the right line.
From both through construct the form of the Creator the BoReh, come and see, why am I insisting on this point because we should not relate to the bad things, seemingly, as evil it's all relative, it was all given to us so we would hate that's correct, hate the evil, the darkness, the rejection, the repulsion of our ego. It's all so we would be directed towards the image of the Creator, the form of the Creator that can be revealed on top of the evil and everything is discovered from the thing and its opposite. But for people who grow, correctly, they hate the evil but not in such a way that appears to us as if they are tossing it out trying to revoke it, we're speaking this way but we simply talk about revoking, refraining from using it, from directly using it. But the opposite use, when we rise above the evil and we build ourselves that's why we need this ego and we have to understand that we construct our self, that way we advance has to be in this way. So ultimately there is no evil in the world, as we understand only that evil which for the time being exists in order to let us build for the good and eventually, we attain it both, have one source, one origin and we have to use them in balance.
6. S. (26:21) The topic of the third lesson, the means for revealing the Creator is annulment and devotion in the ten what annulment and what self-sacrifice should we do now in preparation for the Congress?
R. Hang on did we speak about it, no we haven't so why are you leaving us with your questions the most important for you to ask we have versus before us we're going to learn them and if in the end we're not going to reach that point then you can ask why not, where is it but we haven't discussed it yet, we're not started yet jumping ahead with those questions where we haven't even touched on it.
7. S. (27:29) Is it possible to keep holding on to the middle online or do we constantly fall to the right or to the left?
R. You are riding a bicycle, do you have to ride a bicycle, you know how to ride?
S. Yes.
R. When you started you wouldn't fall either to the right or to the left until you started to understand what it means to be in the middle. Same thing here we need to acquire such an inner feeling what it means to ride the bicycle that's it. How do we keep the middle line so gradually the important thing is we start discussing that there is no evil rather everything is relative, each good that we attain from a certain level, on a degree higher than it is becoming bad, evil. Then I correct it I reach a better good and then that good that I have attained on the second degree becomes bad, evil relative to the third degree and in this way and climb. This has to do with the memories as we learn the Reshimot the descend from the Partzufim, from above down and similarly we need to start discovering in us the Reshimot that what used to be the good thing for me is becoming an evil thing for me and I don't want to agree with it, I want to reach more exalted more significant things.
8. S. (29:44) How can we learn to be happy if I see contradictions in the friends?
R. The more I see them as different, as the opposite we cannot be in direct agreement with one another the happier I am because, specifically from this opposition contradictions between us, the conflict between us when we try to establish a web of connection between us, minus plus, plus minus, all of sorts, all kinds. So, in this way we establish ourselves where no one agrees with the other, no one can be close to the other, we're all opposite to one another and in this way each one is incorporated in all the others. So, it turns out that they're just like an electrical system, there are many pluses and many minuses between us and there is a certain electricity between us, a web of forces, potential. In that force comes love, love covers all transgressions when we discover him in this way, we actually rejoice about having all these opposite forms and none of them disappears rather remains in our foundation and thanks to this - we can discover, reveal the Creator.
9. S. (31:52) Putting the good above the bad, what extra efforts do we have to make in order to reach the source of these forces?
R. Tendency towards connection between us and as forms of connection we wish to uphold and it doesn't matter to us so much the relationships, the important thing is to try and try to feel what is going on here, what's going on here? I can't influence my external life. not giving to me completely, I'm not seeing the full picture, I'm not seeing humanity as the ten Sefirot as operating there. However in the ten I wish, I must reach the state where there is a ten, there is a web of connections between us, where I wish to detect and to begin to feel changes in the relationship between me and the Creator. This way to begin to feel the connection with him, the language from conversing with him. Let's say I'm in this state where I started to discover maybe in the planet up above or an electrical wire I start to feel sudden changes, these fluctuations, suddenly it is this and then it's that. You know you probably heard how they're trying to discover remote civilizations. Then I begin to try to find certain messages in it, in those signals how they are revealed in this way or in that and so I make efforts to discover them.
We are the same, I am in the ten. There is a feeling in me of the changes, of the fluctuations between us and I wish to construct a table of communications between us, this way, that way, to what can I ascribe these forms of connection and this form of separation or other forms. This way I build a matrix where I see dependence, the relationship between these things and those things between us in the ten and in this way I begin to discover gradually, the attitude of the Creator towards us. How he is creating this very space between us of light and darkness and together with that when am I seeing them, according to what am I seeing them, because it's not that he's revealing it to us and sending the points of light or points of darkness. Rather he awakens in me this understanding. So according to my states with the friends, I wish to discover his attitude towards us. More or less, good or bad or is it correct or is this less correct. In the relationship between us in the ten I begin to approach him and to come out towards the connection with him. How will we do it, how will we connect ourselves more or less and then see what can be his reaction?
In truth in our state the Creator is the first. He is bringing forth the states, rather the qualities in us and he arranges the entire form always. We react to it in the 10 and we need to see if we reacted correctly or not, what did we get in return, how did we react again and how did he answer to that, how did you respond to that. Then begin to enter a dialogue with him. This happens to us specifically as a result of the relationship between us, as simple as it may be, between us and what he wants from us. The more sensitive we become to him, and according to the degree of our sensitivity to him, we will begin to understand him more and more. It is not like a little child where if you don't smile then he doesn't react, he doesn't understand any other way and later when he grows up he understands all the possibilities, all the nuances of our relationship this way or that way. According to facial expressions maybe a little bit of the sound of the voice but not according to the content of the relationship between us and him. So in this way we are gradually learn the language for conversing with the Creator, it all depends on the connection between us and how we are approaching him. Then we discovered that we have a great rich language we can use to express anything, a rich language we can use to express anything there's no problem. Rather, it becomes from the language it appears to be, it becomes the language of Sefirot, TANTA, (Taamim, Nekudot, Tagin, Otiot) the relationship between us because points of light and darkness and in this way we will advance. There's a lot in it but I just wanted to say that in this way we build the connection with the Creator
S. As part of our advancement on the path, we will feel the bad only in the ten and not outside of the ten we won't feel this bad?
R. Feeling or not feeling what?
S. Outside of the ten we won't feel bad but only inside of the ten, is this part of the advancement, the progress?
R. No, will feel the bad also outside of the ten but the correction of this bad that we will feel, that will be felt inside the ten, the bad that's outside of it and to the extent will be able to connect all of humanity to us, we will accordingly be able to correct it inside of us. This is the meaning of absorbing the AHP and adding it to the Galgata vEnayim and accordingly, in this way all of the corrections take place in the Galgata vEnayim as AHP they provide the AHP with the forces, the screens they bring it to the degrees where it's incorporated in Galgata vEnayim will get there it will come.
11. S. (42:30) Can one friend, alone, correct the balance in the ten under the middle line or does the work require the work of several friends?
R. We need to try to work with, each shall his friend, and build such a connection in the ten that we would feel that our work, our goal in this effort, that's how we advance, only in this way. Not alone. I, alone in the ten, I'm doing the work without getting any reaction then I'm not working together with them, it's impossible.
12. S. (43:49) How does the sensitivity work between us and the ten?
R. Out of envy the most important is out of envy, the articles by Rabash where you can see how he writes about it. Envy, lust, honor, by that you increase the sensitivity and to think about it more and more.
13. S. (44:39) Previously it seemed like getting closer to the Creator, means getting closer to the right line, now it sounds like it's yearning for the middle. Can you help me understand the difference between now?
R. The Creator is attained in the middle line. One quality is seemingly positive, the quality of bestowal we cannot discover Him, specifically in the connection between the two, we will learn it.
14. S. (45:27) If the bad inclination to receive allows me to recognize the Creator so why do the friends have fear to face the state?
R. I don't know what to say. Fear is something, it's for now, for the time being that it happens there's nothing special about it, nothing special. It for the time being that it sometimes happens on our degrees afterwards, it will come again but on higher levels. I think that if we give each other a little bit of strength in the ten then we can rise above this fear to levels of confidence levels of support and this should be our work.
15. S. (47:12) There's a feeling that is the most important thing now?
R. I don't understand what you're asking but we have to constantly be drawn towards connection, that's it.
16. S. (47:39) Is there a difference between the middle line, when we are in the middle of the lesson and when we are outside, how does the arrangement differ in each state?
R. You're right, in every situation we have to try to detect or locate the middle line and then in this way, we later position ourselves in a way that we accustom ourselves to it.
S. I asked about the difference.
R. The difference is that in every state you have to try to establish the middle line, so it doesn't matter for you if it's left or right but to incorporate as much left in the right as possible but mainly it's about coming to a state of there's none else besides Him. Every state is true if you connect all the elements, all the data into there's none else besides Him and that's the middle line for now. There are many discernments in this but for now that's the way it is. Again, it's like a baby who comes to know life, so he connects all kinds of small insights and bigger and greater ones in this way it feels the picture of the world and its relation to the world and like and so on and so are we. In every specific, particular situation we have to position the Creator in such a way that He makes it dark and makes it light and creates the darkness and He connects them in this way and this is how we should come to know Him.
17. S. (49:39) Where do we get the forces to overcome the oppositions?
R. All the forces come from the Creator. I don't understand your question?
S. My ego always resists the opposite, so how do I make this overcoming?
R. If you position yourself in such a way, only in this way can you add that controls all of reality, the bad, the good, everything, then you have the right direction to locate the Creator as the force, as the source of these two sources then you gradually begin to relate to them equally.
18. S. (50:32) You said that without the left line you can't connect two lines to the middle line and I remember that something scientific where if you take a light bulb and you place the conductor in a glass of water, the light bulb will not turn on but if you have solved the light bulb will turn on with salt and water, salt, Malchut, left line and water, right line. How many crimes, questions do we have to have to reach the middle line?
R. You need negative ions here so they would transfer the electricity because you have molecules, that there's a minus, but let's not get into it but you have to here, you have to kind of design, dissolve this conductor into two positive and negative and let the currents kind of stream from the minus to the plus. So, what are you asking? You're asking, water is that enough, we also need salt for the water to be a little more a better conductor for the current, that's correct.
S. I'm asking in our inner work when hate appears not to cancel the work above it.
R. We don't cancel anything, we only overcome it, otherwise we will never arise, in essence, when we relate to the bad this is revealed correctly and we want to be in the good more than in the bed, this is why the bad also grows all the time and is supporting the degree from the left side. This is why the disciples of Rabbi Shimon wanted to kill each other eventually but they did not start.

R. The right use of the ego means I understand, feel and I attain what's revealed in me, this is what you do. Before I was kind of established as an item as a unit in this common vessel, I speak in this way which is kind of accurate but it's easier to understand it this way. So now we have to attribute everything to the Creator, the bad, and the good and Baal HaSulam writes about it, we should find those excerpts. That the Creator, it's written that the Creator makes the light and creates the darkness. Therefore, we should accept it in this way that you can't do without it. It can only happen with the help of this, with the help of light on top of darkness, both of them go together and connect together and there's no such thing as we say a light that is all day. It is because the whole night stands at the basis of that day and that's why it didn't shine this way, the darkness will shine as light. We will talk about it, we gradually get used terms but I what I want by this is that you will understand that what we need is to, you have to feel how you relate to all the bad things and the good things as revelations that come from above, and we have to unite them to the same source so as to know how to correct them. That's it, not to be so impressed by the bad but understand that without it we can be good.
20. S. (56:07) When Kabbalists wrote I created the evil inclination and Torah as a spice, what is this I, is the I from the ten that needs to do something that needs to identify, what is this I?
R. It is the middle line, which is BoReh, come and see, the Creator, that's how He is revealed in us as comprising from darkness to light and that's the only way we can locate within us that middle force which makes the light and creates the darkness. Eventually, this way allows us to exist between the two forces as existing. Actually, afterwards we see this is kind of a hologram that we exist in this way but for some reason we existed because the Creator creates these two rays of darkness and light and when the two of them somehow connect among them, they fashioned kind of the image of reality including man, we'll talk about it, for now let’s advance a little bit.

21. R. Here is when we begin to speak about a new discernment. That I can't do the same work as the friends, none of us can replace the other that's clear to us, but what I learned when I look at him and I see what kind of work he is doing, if I relate to the way correctly and to the Creator then I always see the friend is greater than I at least in some way. My efforts should be to see him truly as greater than everyone to the extent that I see all my friends as greater than I and I become inferior to them, lesser to them as a point of the Malchut opposite from the first nine to that extent I begin to attain Keter, do you understand this? It's a method to come from the love of people to the love of the Creator, so let's try not to forget about it. I am interested in seeing each and every friend not just as greater than I, but as truly that his greatness covers the whole ten in some way he or in some way another, in some way a third, another in some way with everyone and I can only support them, attach myself to them, attribute and relate myself to them, and this way I build a Partzuf of ten Sefirot where all above me I am like Malchut and the first nine, in them with my inclination to love and connect with them I discover the Creator, the Creator should be revealed in the vessel, the first nine, I hope it's clear.
22. S. (01:01:14) What extreme must we experience in order to achieve equivalence of form as Him, what extreme lines?
R. I don't understand the question, what extreme lines, they are revealed, I can't summon them I can't ask, give 60 kilos from this and 40 kilos from that I can't. I have to work until it becomes revealed in me, hatred from good, from love, one opposite the other until I reveal, I discover all kinds of states. Until these states help me build my relationship to the friends and through them my relationship to the Creator; the relationship to the Creator is a result of the relationship to the friends and as a result I discover Him. First, I have to reveal my relationship to the friends in connection, giving, in love, and my disposition towards them and then what I discover in my sum total relation to them, I discover that is my relation to the Creator
S. How do we balance the two forces without diminishing one or the other?
R. Because they are revealed one after the other: light, darkness, rejection, attraction, connection. As a result, I later learned how to balance them. What does it mean to balance them? To connect on top of connection, to be in love on top of hatred and not to slight anything just to bring them together and design the middle line towards the group and the Creator.
23. S. (01:03:53) I want to ask about hating himself, I don't understand what it means, I don't have to love to hate myself in order to love the other, on the contrary I love him the way I love myself?
R. You reject, you don't cancel anything, you only reject, you repel and afterwards we'll see what it means to reject correctly, so you reject all of the qualities that have obstruct you from connecting to the friend, that's it.
S. So this is called hate?
R. Yes.
24. S. (01:04:47) From the beginning you said that we need to place ourselves in the place where we disagree with one another. Can you explain more about it?
R. I don't quite understand, if there's a place here where we disagree with one another? Of course we don't agree, so what?
S. Let's say if we are discussing something in the lesson and a friend said I agree with this friend and I bring him in as an example and I disagree with another friend and I bring him as an example and I bring a 3rd friend, that's not good for me, does it mean that we have to place ourselves that I disagree with any one of them?
R. I don't understand these things and that's not how I decipher, what does it mean that I agree and disagree?
S. You said, maybe I misunderstood, I just wrote down what I understood.
R. Disagreeing means I don't understand what kind of disagreement can be between us if we don't understand anything, I say I don't understand but it is not whether I disagree or agree. A person who attains something, he says I agree or disagree out of his attainment but because he is in the darkness, how can you say this, he can't say I don't understand. Here I need to understand or he could say I understand that I disagree because I haven't attained it, when I attain it of course I will agree. So now from my experience and what I went through in the wisdom Kabbalah, I see that in many ways I disagree with the method itself but more and more and I learned and that's how it goes forward, that's how it will work all the time. That's why it's written that a person does not perform a commandment unless he failed in it first, so a person always disagrees, hates, repels, doesn't want it, yells, doesn't want it. Afterwards he understands and accepts in degrees and that's the way it works with everything because we always reveal the light out of the darkness.
S. It's not clear so do we have to agree between us or not?
R. We should try to explain to one another what we learned in the lesson not emotionally but technically.
S. That's what each one understands or agrees?
