Part 1: Preparation for Opening the Heart at the Congress - Selected Excerpts from the Sources

Reader: Hello friends, we're in a lesson about the topic of preparing, preparation for opening the heart at the Congress. We will read selected excerpts, we'll start from Number Five, a few announcements first.

Please pay attention, friends who are here, men and women here in the hall in Petah Tikva. Anyone receiving translation is asked to put both earbuds into your ears and lower the volume to the necessary minimum in order not to disturb those around him. Friends from the world who are here, physically, are asked to move in the Arvut system to audio mode in order to enable a continuous connection to the lesson – not to burden the Wi-Fi system. Friends from Israel are asked not to connect to the Wi-Fi but rather use their cellular internet.

If you need to go out or come into the hall during the lesson – for example, if you're going to the restrooms. Please check the screens around so that you're not cutting the frame that is shown. Please make sure everyone, right now, that your phones are in silent state or turned off so there won't be any kind of ringing or noise that will bother us during the lesson. Next, about asking questions during the lesson.

Anyone who wants to ask a question is asked to put up your hand high – so we can see you from here – and also so the usher is responsible for the lesson. Those who have the microphones and the red hats will see you. Don't put down your hand, keep it in the air so they will know who to pass it on so they'll come and give you the microphone. Please ask questions, short questions and only according to the topic of the lesson. And we're going to start with Excerpt Number Five in our document about preparation for the opening of the heart in preparation for the World Kabbalah Congress that will start tomorrow. Excerpt Number Five.

5. RABASH, Letter No. 8  Twice

Reading: (02:24) At the end of the day, this is a group of people who have gathered in a certain place, under a certain leader, to be together. With superhuman courage they face up to all those who rise against them. Indeed, they are brave men with a strong spirit, and they are determined not to retreat one inch. They are first-class fighters, fighting the war against the inclination to their last drop of blood, and their only wish is to win the battle for the glory of His name.

Reader: Again, this is excerpt five from Rabash.

M. Laitman: Questions?

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (05:53) What is the correct quality to be a leader, so as to spark the spirit of the friends in the Ten?

M. Laitman: We need to get closer to each and every one, and we need to see to what extent we can be close to each other. And according to the nearness, or the mirroring between us, we should also hold on to each other. And in this way, we will be rewarded with reaching, being “as one man in one heart”. We should not hope that we will reach something special – no. But rather to be as one man with one heart and to achieve this with one spirit, with mutual complementation. Because this complementation should come to us through our connection to be as one. That's it.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (10:43) How do we motivate our Ten to work towards a cause that it feels like we have to continuously build out of thin air? How do we motivate each other to work for a cause that it feels like we continuously have to build out of thin air, like it's not real?

M. Laitman: We need, as much as possible, to get closer to each other and to be more and more connected. That is all.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (12:19) Rabash writes that those few people who gathered together under a certain leader and so on, they work with a mighty spirit above the human level. So, where do they get that kind of superhuman strength?

M. Laitman: From that same connection that they see before them; that this is actually their goal.

Student: What is this spirit, this superhuman courage?

M. Laitman: It's overcoming, overcoming above the human power by being connected together. And this is how they hold themselves.

Student: When there's a beautiful gathering that is increasingly growing until tomorrow in the Congress. How to take advantage of even this physical strength of the Congress to awaken such a spirit, a heroic spirit, a brave spirit that will help everyone rise above their nature?

M. Laitman: I don't consider those who are here, today, to have a light spirit. It's the opposite. We feel ourselves that we should see ourselves in one direction.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (15:28) We said, we have to complete the collective spirit. What is that work?

M. Laitman: It means that we should feel that we are capable of being together in one place, in one spirit, in one language and this is how we will reach a single deficiency. I know each and everyone here — you might say – and I also know what excerpts, and what preparations. And what readiness you went through in order to come here and to further continue to be as one man in one heart. This is why, actually, all of you are ready and we just need to arrange ourselves such that we are as one man in one heart. And here I see men and women, and I don't see anyone that I don't know – no, actually it is the opposite. Let us discover more and more questions for the broad audience and try out of these questions to spread.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (19:52) When we are little, we play with dolls, we saw some clothes for these dolls. We try to give something and then we become mothers, we have actual children that we care for. We give them what we can, the children grow; we make a thousand mistakes, there is no mother who does everything right. And then we see as a result, some result that can be examined. During the Congress or after the Congress, what is the child that will be able to somehow examine our influence? Were we able to give something to this child? What is that child of the Congress?

M. Laitman: This child in the Congress is our connection. That we want to be connected, as it is written, “as one man in one heart”. And this is the only thing that we want to be drawn to, to touch. And this is how we will advance.

Student: I would like to understand how we feel this? How can we understand this?

M. Laitman: How can we understand what? I didn't quite get it?

Student: How can we feel that we gave something, that we bestowed something?

M. Laitman: We are here, for example, and out of our sitting together – men and women – we can build the nearing between us. The nearing between us.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (23:40) From our collective women desire, I want to give you a blessing, and also I have a question. Do people have unconditional faith in the Creator?

M. Laitman: The people he speaks about here. Yes, there was such a question yesterday, and if there is a handful of people, even the smallest. That has a foundation so that in their connection they can reach a connection with the Creator. Already, it opens up for them the message that the Creator is giving them. And then they are drawn to a point that, later on, they will feel that everyone is drawn to it also; and this is how we will connect.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (26:53) There is a feeling very strong now in the lesson and throughout these days that everyone is trying in the most precise way to find the effort towards connection. How can we, out of everyone's effort, find that one heart where we can connect as one man?

M. Laitman: We need to try to be connected as one man in one heart where we can depict to ourselves our incorporation. Our incorporation, one in the other and the other in the first. And then we will be able to receive the individual connection of each one with his or her friends.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (30:07) In what way can this be an absolute limitation? According to what connections can we achieve the point of incorporation between us?

M. Laitman: Within which actions?

Student translating: According to what connections can we achieve the point of incorporation between us? Through what connections?

M. Laitman: By which actions? Only when we want to connect together, all of us. And in the connection that we achieve, we will want as much as possible to connect and to direct ourselves to be as one man in one heart.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (31:43) About whom is Rabash writing in the letter? These new people who have gathered that have worked together and ultimately reached that state such that they are so brave and decisive?

M. Laitman: Rabash writes to his students and only for them did he write everything that he wrote? This is why we should also grasp what he wrote in such a way. So, we should try to be together as one man in one heart; and each one should look around himself, maybe there is somebody who needs his help. This is the most important thing.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (34:19) What is courage?

M. Laitman: Courage is when a person feels that he is capable of rising, right now, from all the people who have gathered here. And to be their representative.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (35:58) It was said that a handful of people are fighting the war against the inclination to their last drop of blood. But how can we build and hold on to such a connection, like cells in a single body? To respond instantly and even know in advance what the evil inclination is going to do to us?

M. Laitman: We indeed need to depict to ourselves how we can be in such a state where all of us are truly connected. And at the same time – well, I can't really say. Maybe my students can help me, the friends?

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (37:39) I would like to ask, help with a question: You said everyone should look around if there is someone who needs his help. That's the most important thing. What does that mean?

M. Laitman: It means that I am sitting here with, let's say, 500 other people. And I feel that beside me there are also thousands and thousands who are searching how to reach a complete connection.

Student: What kind of help can I give the friends?

M. Laitman: Each one of us can give the friends what they need to be as one man in one heart. To be connected together, to truly be like that. That is all.

Student: But what do I have to give them that the Creator doesn't give them? He should give them.

M. Laitman: The Creator is expecting of you! That you will want to receive from Him and pass it through you through your friends to Him.

Student: You said, I have to look around me if there's no friend that needs my help. How do I identify a friend that needs my help?

M. Laitman: This means that we need to be closer and closer and closer to each other. And then we will have, well, we will talk more about. How to get closer to each other, during a descent, during an ascent. And this is how we will reach it.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (41:54) Before, in a short article, you talked about spiritual fear. Maybe this fear is what we can actually pass to our friends? Maye this is what will help us to lift our spirit and go forward. Is this what we are lacking, fear, fear towards the Creator? Maybe this can connect us, not only externally but also internally. And finally, ignite these light bulbs?

M. Laitman: We will try to find them, connect them, and ignite them.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (43:09) In this war, following all kinds of efforts, great efforts. What about if we cannot succeed?

M. Laitman: That we won't be able to succeed. Yes, this war, it's a very, very interesting war. What's interesting about this war is that the one who wants to ask is asking what his friend is lacking; and then he understands what he should be asking for.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (45:44) I will follow the previous question: How can we ask questions for our friends, out of ourselves, from one heart?

M. Laitman: Try. Try to be connected to them in such a way that you feel what they are asking from their hearts.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (46:51) When the Creator gathers people in one place, what is He expecting of them?

M. Laitman: His expectation that they'll feel that they belong to a single group, and that from this group, they can begin to rise to the Creator.

Student: How can we feel? I mean, he writes that He gathers them in one place and they feel that they are under one leader. How can we feel that we are under this leader?

M. Laitman: Very simple, the fact that we are all together in a certain place, and we want to be connected to each other. And that our connection will be a gradual connection, by which we get closer to each other, as we enter.

Student: How can we feel that we are under the leadership, the guidance of the Creator?

M. Laitman: To feel that we are under the leadership of the Creator, we can do that only if we wish to help each other. And in such a way, do we ask ourselves, what state am I in?

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (49:54) In every lesson without exception, we ask questions to which you give the answer, you need to connect, you have to connect. The feeling is that perhaps we are missing something in our work, in the feeling of this connection that you are calling us to? Please help us to feel that, the most important, what characterizes this connection that you are calling us to?

M. Laitman: This is truly so. Even now, you are very close to each other, but still, to break through what separates you, you still can't. Calm down, in fact, I answered you.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (52:42) Yesterday, we had a very strong, warm meeting, a women's meeting, and we felt like one woman. I wanted to ask, how can we keep this fire burning inside of us?

Reader: Yesterday, there was a global, worldwide meeting of women in preparation for the Congress, and the friend is saying that at the end of this meeting they felt as one woman. How can they keep this feeling and enter the Congress from that?

M. Laitman: Well, yes, you should maintain that, maintain the connection that is between us, between all the friends. So, there is such a connection where you promise to each other not to let go of each other. And then everything will fall into place, you'll see, you'll immediately begin to add and add and add into your connection.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (54:52) To continue the friend's question: We are very close to each other and now we just have to cry out to the Creator? Does it always happen through an outcry?

M. Laitman: Through a cry.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (55:28) As you said, we all didn't come here by chance, each one of us has a very strong inner demand. Every lesson I think: what is my friend lacking and you gave a very clear answer. Each one lacks breaking through what is separating between us. So, what is my role in helping a friend break through this partition?

M. Laitman: Your role is to break through.

Student: I need to go out towards her or bring her out?

M. Laitman: Alone.

Student: And you also talked about our common spirit, and the mind and the heart are drawn to this spirit, is the Creator. He brought us here, He connected us, He gave us the demand. And now I'm trying to grasp where is He leading us, next? Is this focus correct, that He is connecting us?

M. Laitman: Of course, only He.

Student: What remains for us is only to connect our attempts to break through?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (57:24) How can we muster the courage to turn to the friends so that they will help me to open up?

M. Laitman: How to gather the courage to turn to the friends so that they will help me to open up? This is a very difficult question, you should think about it from now until the end of the lesson. And after that, we'll see what you have to say.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (58:46) Tell us how a united group rises to the Creator? Rav, please, tell us. How does a united group rise to the Creator? What is that state?

M. Laitman: A united group rises to the Creator to the extent that it becomes a united group.

Student: What is required for that, our despair, our yearning, our demand?

M. Laitman: Yes. What is the desire that opens our heart and persuades the Creator? Don't ask me. Ask the Creator.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (59:35) We receive a lot now from the upper light, and the men are working on receiving it and passing it into the women's desire. And my question is, how can we prepare such a desire that will be worthy of receiving this light correctly?

M. Laitman: Simply ask.

Student: Ask for what?

M. Laitman: Ask to be as close as possible to your desire.

Student: But our desire is, what should we want?

M. Laitman: It doesn't matter, I, specifically, deliberately, don't conclude my answer.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:01:07) Why do we have to fight with the evil inclination rather than rising above it? What is our spiritual war?

M. Laitman: It's the same thing. It's the same thing to rise above it, or to threaten it. It's the same thing, in principle, it's the same action, single action.

Student: What is the spiritual war?

M. Laitman: The spiritual war is when I fight with my vessels, that's a spiritual war.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:02:51) When I discover that I'm wrong in almost about everything, and that there is an upper mind, an upper force that is above my considerations, how can I work with that state? On the one hand, I want to trust this force and give myself to this force, and on the other hand, I feel that I need to put in effort in this war with the inclination. How can I find a balance between these two?

M. Laitman: What do you think? What do you think, who thinks what? Raise your hands.

Answer (Petah Tikva Center): (01:03:57) Probably here we need to believe that your entire state depends on your faith.

M. Laitman: Basically, you said correctly, except there are a few more additions here.

Answer (Petah Tikva Center): (01:04:29) I think the Creator gives us all of the states that we will work with Him. And if we enter some state, then we lose the balance and we need to use both ends.

M. Laitman: That, too, is correct.

Reader: Maybe we'll read another excerpt. There are very nice excerpts, here.

So we'll readExcerpt Number Six from Maor VaShemesh, Light and Sun. It says the following:

Reading: (01:05:09) 6. Maor VaShemesh, The Meaning of Rosh Hashanah  Twice

The main path of repentance is to unite our hearts in love of friends, to unite with each one with love and with one heart, to serve the Creator and work shoulder to shoulder, connect with one another and be locked in each other’s heart, to be one bundle, to serve the Creator wholeheartedly.

Reader: Again, Number Six.

M. Laitman: Is it clear?

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:07:16) We learned that the evil inclination is the separation between us, and the Creator is the connection between us. Can we now try to connect between us, not through the partition of our ego, but through the Creator? Seemingly, to receive and bestow through the Creator so that He will be the connection between us because There Is None Else Besides Him. Is it correct and how do we do it?

M. Laitman: That is correct. That's indeed how we should act. It's the only way we should act. But how to do that, this is something I can't tell you. Half of it you've already guessed correctly; now keep working on the other part.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:08:29) During the gathering, when we come to a recognition that our heart is, that our heart is blocked, or closed off, and we feel overtaken by this sensation. How do we go from that state to asking about the friends and thanking about the friends? How do we go from one to another when we recognize this and we feel it?

M. Laitman: No, we are not; well, who can respond to that?

Answer (Petah Tikva Center): (01:10:06) We need to try each time to remember the state where the heart was open. The Creator gave us this feeling and can back to it.

M. Laitman: In principle, that is correct.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:10:49) I have a question: According to the excerpt, it says here in a very emotional way, to connect with each other and be locked in each other's heart. What is that state that we are locked in each other's heart?

M. Laitman: Maybe we should take that into a workshop question?

Social Time

Reader: Okay, so, workshop. What does it mean to be locked in each other's heart? Again. And what does it mean to be locked in each other's heart? Workshop in the Ten . Go ahead, please. First of all, we can do this in the workshop while everyone speaks.
