Part 2:

Part 3: Baal HaSulam. Matan Torah [The Giving of the Torah]

1.R. (00:27) The article Matan Torah primarily article of Baal HaSulam where he explained the need for the reception at the Torah, the need for the giving of the Torah on behalf of the Creator, the reception of the Torah on behalf of the created beings, and the goal of this giving: what is Torah, why does the Creator give this system to human beings, where do they need to develop, how, what do they get out of it, why, specifically, to human beings and not  all the other created beings, still, vegetative and animate levels. So, the article is very sort of comprehensive, surrounding all of reality, and therefore we should certainly go through it again; of course you already know it in general, but now especially as we are before the Congress we should go through it once again

Reading (01:46) ““Love your friend as yourself” (Leviticus 19:18) - Rabbi Akiva says, “This is a great Klal [collective/rule] in the Torah”

2. R. (03:31) So it's clear to us from here that if the most important thing in the Torah is to bring love among human beings: ‘love your friend as yourself’, then there's no more to search for in the Torah. All the rest are just details of the same rule, ‘love thy friend as yourself’, and how can we detail and elaborate it and realize it in the connection between us, in the inclination to relate to each other between us. And if we move towards that, then we are on the path or realizing the Torah, and if not we're not, then we’re not in the same direction that the Torah aims for; and that's truly something very, very, great.

That we can’t digest, we can’t comprehend it: how could it be that through connection between us from a state that we are in today, or that we were in thousands of years ago, or that we will be in a few years forward. So how can it be that we’ll change our state from where it is to state of ‘love thy friend as thyself’, that this brings us to the state of realization of the Torah, meaning we arrive in the upper world, the world of Ein Sof, the revelation of the whole of reality, and the totality of reality: how can this be connected to that and dependent on that? So it is a question, so unclear to us, this question, that I don't even see any question among you right now. It is, like, basically what could it be here? There's no ‘love thy friends as thyself’ and we don’t need it, we’re used to living the way we live, we don't see any flaws in our relationships, of course there's a few things to correct here and there, but love is not something we lack, and that's the problem. No question, that’s good too, it indicates we have no more to add.

Reading #2 (06:11) “If we can still strain to find some way to reconcile their words,..”

3. S. (07:52) Why is there always a self-cancellation in love? It always feels like in the result of the process and in the result of unification there will be nothing from me?

R. It is a wonder what we have in love because love is the central point of creation, it is the inner quality of the Creator, that's why when we think of love we can imagine it whether, like one person clinging to the other and you cannot separate and tell the difference between them, or they feel as much as they're not in connection of love yet. But love is the most sensitive thing in relationships between two people.

S. But as a result, we are getting converted and I also think that in relation towards the Creator that from that love we are just becoming Him, and we are losing our qualities and we just equipping His wants and also we are losing our desire and I'm living inside it?

R. We, about this, can speak without any limits: this way, that way, and there's always going to be something to add. That’s why I recommend just keep going with the text and we’ll go together with Baal HaSulam, that's it. That the commandment of love ,that he says, “love your friend as yourself”, that it also includes in it, don't do back to anybody, and that in all laws of nature there is nothing except for that principle, bestow good to others.

4. S. (10:48) I felt strength, thanks to the connection to the friends, and the egoism wants to realize these powers in a corporeal connection: things that have to do with food, housing, and things like that. But what's most important is that I don't need to waste to strengthen corporeal connection but to be incorporated in the ten.

R. What is the question?

S. I'm afraid to direct my strength in the wrong direction, I want to better integrate with the ten?

R. Right, do that, ask your friends where it’s worth making the efforts. Whatever they advise, what role to take in the group, that’s what you should do.

Reading (12:32) #3 “Before we delve into the heart of the matter, we must observe that Mitzva, since we were commanded: “Love your friend as yourself.”

 5. R. (14:00) Yes, meaning, we must reach love one hundred percent, one towards the other, that means, how is it expressed? By being concerned to the other more than myself, right? Let's say, like a mother is concerned about her baby.

Reading #4 (14:42) “And if this is still not enough for you, I will tell you that the simple explanation of that Mitzva of loving your fellow person is even harsher,..”

 6. S. (16:08) The state of the giving of the Torah only happened when people were ready to come out of Egypt, they were disconnected and they had one desire, that this need was made in them to feel the Torah. So from this incorporation the whole world is like Egypt, so how can we reach a state of such a necessity? That there was also a state that there was either death or you’ll get the Torah and it was possible there, so now I'm in the state of today?

R. In the state of today we also need to understand that we are either in connection or death, that if we don't connect we, more and more, get closer to destruction, to general destruction.

S. It is hard to, this urgency, I cannot reach a state of loving someone else more than myself when I’m interacting with the other world.

R. You are not told anything more, they say at least like you, be concerned for the other that it will be good like it is to you. Obviously, so you have to give him the pillow and everything you have, that he will have what you have, but it's still to be concerned that we will know that we are in one society, and one system and we all have to be concerned about everybody.

S. So, in order to reach this degree, the feeling of this urgency, we cannot disconnect from the external influences, you see, this is a problem. We are always under the influence where we go in and out, in and out, and then there's a disconnection in the process?

R.  That's true but it's because we never decide on anything final. If we will say that we are building a country, like we started the country of Israel where everyone will be more or less equal and everybody will be incorporated in one another, and reach one society, unified, so we could speak in a different way. But we are distancing ourselves from one another, we are dividing our country into twenty and more parties and all kinds of movements, and not that we are coming closer but the contrary, we are moving apart from each other.

S. Exactly, that’s the point, so the amount of suffering reached a state where there was no choice, and for our state we learned that we have to reach connection from the recognition of the good and we come to connection out of suffering and that's what I'm concerned about.

R. We need to reach connection whether from the good or from the bad but we have to reach the good. The connection always has to be better; we need the state of the connection to be good, not that we each one of us will get more, but that we’ll be relatively in an equal form. Equality is actually the correct form of the connection and until we don't determine that and reach that, we will always feel bad.

7. S. (20:54) The example with the chair, that I have to pass the chair to my friend, what is this example about?

R. That none of us can just relax if he has and the others don’t, we must reach a state that everyone has what they need.

S. What topics does it have to do this with?

R. Everything, everything that there is, everybody should have it, equality.

S. Say what, in spiritual work, how to reach this in the connection in the ten. If a friend is not in the lesson, I sit in the lesson and benefit from it so what am I supposed to do now, not study and connect with him, or wake him up?

R. You have to make sure that he comes to the lessons.

S. Yes but it says here that not only do I have to make sure that the friend also has a chair but that I don't sit on my own and give it to him.

R. If there is no choice and there’s only one chair then you should be willing to give him the chair, what is the question?

S. This is exactly the question: it’s like I now have to not to be in the lesson and deal with bringing the friend to the lesson.

R. That's also right, so?

S. Just asking for your direction.

R. You have to get up and bring your friend to the lesson.

8. S. (23:18) Who is ‘the master’ and who is ‘in for me’?

R. The one who has a chair is ‘the master’ and the one who doesn't is ‘the slave’, it doesn't matter.

9. S. (23:33) In reference to the pillow and the slave, are we supposed to “feel the difference in the ten and see them as standing before a king”, can you explain this attitude that we need to have towards the friend?

R. I need to see the friend has higher and higher and greater than me; if I connect to such friends, that I depict them as great, successful people, close to the Creator, and I work on connecting to them, so through them I can connect to the Creator. You can say that there's people more successful than them and even more closer to the Creator than them, it doesn't matter to me, it completely doesn't matter towards the result. If I relate to them like the greatest of the generation, like Rabbi Yosef ben Kiva with his students, then he will specifically gain from receiving them as great, and in that way, that’s how we need to do it in each and every group.

S. Is this the approach of humility?

R. It is not humility, it’s that I really want to observe them in such a way: that they are the greatest, they are the most successful and I'm not going to go compare them to others. They are above comparison of any kind. But I'm in a group, that I'm surrounded by people, the most successful. the greatest, the closest to the Creator of all and I'm between them, and through them, I want to also get an impression from the Creator and I will get it then.

10. S. (26:23) The example of with the chair: should I not worry about the other also having a chair and not giving him mine because I can care for someone else only after I care for myself?

R. It sounds normal when you have such a state, you have to accept this state that he’s describing as something given, so then you don't have any other possibility except for giving the friend what you have, we are not discussing any other situations.

11. S. (27:19) You said that “the goal ultimately is to achieve equality”?

R. Equality will never be, it can only be in our attitude, our relationship, but not that we reach some equality, I don't know how to say it. Yesterday I was sitting at the meal and I was looking at people, they were eating chicken with rice and some kind of salad. There are people who it tasted good and usual to them and there were some people that were choking off it, let's say. So according to that, you cannot say that there is equality, but equality is in the attitude, the relation only.

S. What do you mean ‘that kind of equality in the attitude’?

R. That whatever one gives to the other, he gives according to what he thinks the other is lacking and compared to his giving that will bring equality.

S. And how do we know what to give to the other?

R. That's what you need to love them.

S. So equality can be based before we achieve as a society a relationship of bestowal or first we have to reach bestowal and as a result equality will be made?

R. You can’t reach one without the other.

S. But what comes first?

R. First comes your impulse to reach a change, even a change without love, without anything, only to develop these relations.

S. So basically the very effort.

R. Yes

12. S. (29:41) Is there a limit to what I need to give to the friend?

R. You have to give the friend anything you can give with the hope that the upper light will join that and bring closeness between you.

R. Clear?

S. Not so much because if we’re speaking about the chair, what does it have to do with it?

R. What do you mean?

S. I believe it’s part of the goal if he has a chair or not.

R. And you give him the chair and by that, the chair will you bring the connection between you, the connection between you and the Creator.

S. What does it have to do with the chair?

R. It doesn't have to do with the chair, the fact that you were giving something that you think he's lacking, the friend.

S. If I have a car and a friend doesn't have a car, do I have to give him the car?

R. Probably yes.

S. So asking where’s the boundary, where’s the limit?

R. Oh, that’s what you’re asking, the limit depends on you, the limit is in you, in your heart.

S. It’s not clear: I have to give everything that I have, seriously I'm asking? I have an apartment and the friend doesn't have an apartment?

R. To the extent that you have to keep the Creator’s commandment ‘love your friend as yourself’, to that extended you need to share with your friend whatever you have. And if he has nothing and you have it, then you have to give it to him, like the pillow, and you yourself, you have to lie on the ground. Is that clear?

S. It's not clear to me.

R. What is not clear?

S. It's not clear, what is the limit or how do you even measure?

R. There is nothing to measure, what the friend is lacking and you have, you have to give it to your friend.

S. How does this help in connect with the Creator?

R. It will help you keep the law that the Creator wants from you.

13. S. (32:43) I didn't understand your answer to the friend, you give an example that everyone sits in the meal and everyone eats the same chicken and rice; some people say good, some people say it’s bad. So we have to make sure that everyone has his own dish or that there is a common dish?

R. I'm not talking about the food we eat in the meal; we are planning our meal of the ten that will . . . . [Hebrew]

S. I'm not clear about what's the definition of ‘equality’.

R. You cannot make equality for everyone’s personal taste.

S. So what's the equality about, okay that’s clear?

R. The quality has to be according to the desire of the friend, that if he wants some salad or chicken with rice you have to give it to him, and he has to give you what you want. Each one according to his tastes or otherwise he won't feel that he received from you.

14. S. (34:00) I always thought that I should give to the friend whatever helps him advance to the revelation of the Creator, also the chair so he will be comfortable sitting and studying?

R. If he needs it.

S. But we learned that he has to reveal the Creator?

R. I don't understand: you discover that your friend is lacking something and that he has a deficiency, let's say he doesn't have a chair, so you give him a chair, is that the deed itself?

S. But why does he need the chair?

R. To feel comfortable.

S. Comfortable, what just to be conveniently comfortable or to reveal the Creator?

R. No, no, no, we're not going into such depth of what he has in the soul and as much as he needs it more than me, and maybe if I would remain on my chair I would have more of a prayer to the Creator, no. We are speaking about a deficiency, the friend is lacking something and you have that something, so you have to give it to him.

S. So I don't make any calculation here, I just give him what he needs without making a calculation?

R. If he really needs it.

S. If he truly lacks it but not for some goal?

R. No, the goal is already philosophy, it’s a completely different calculation.

15. S. (35:40) I wanted to ask for the benefit of the World Kli so they don't start sharing and giving their apartment, we’re only talking about internality, right?

R. We are speaking about laws that in the future humanity will have to build the connection between them in such a way. For now, we can’t do it, and obviously we can’t perform these things in such a way in every group, in each and every ten, God forbid. I’m not allowing this, don’t try any of this. I was a witness to all the states and actions, and I saw that it only brings to corruption.

16. S. (36:31) Maybe we can say that only our tendency, our inclination, the desire without a physical action, the desire to fill the friends lack, somewhat is closer to bestowal?

R. The desire is good, but we are speaking about an action here.

17. S. (36:57) If I make coffee for the friend, I also want like with the chair, that the Creator will build the connection internally between us.

R. Okay, sure, sure.

18. S. (37:12) The heart weeps every time I see how the friends are eating this meal forcefully, I'm talking about our work and I’m enjoying just to not do worse to the friend, what to do, how to ask?

R. We have to ask that in my heart I will be able to feel the heart of my friend and then I’ll be able to give to him what he really wants not what I think, that's it. And again I’m saying, this isn't for implementation but only in thoughts, but not to actually, physically implement. First, we need to reach a state that we are relating only in the desire to one another. I want to give him, he wants to give to me, I love him, I feel what he's lacking and so on. In such a way, in thoughts, in tendencies but not in physical, corporeal implementation.

S. About what you said he continues to the second part: if I see that the meal is not tasty so it's not my broken, physical perspective?

R. That's already philosophy, we cannot take that into consideration.

19. S. (39:29) If the work is only in the ten, why do we need the Congress?

R. The Congress awaken connection between us and in that connection we can scrutinize a lot of discernments. I feel a new degree after the Congress in the people who participated.

20. S. (39:57) What action is required from every woman in the World Kli to get to this Congress truly prepared?

R. The auction of the tendency of connection with their friends in the ten and preparation for scrutiny of the topic of the Congress.

21. S. (40:26) The Creator has set up a Congress for us specifically now because He wants us to, expects us to attain some collective progress, so what is this progress that the Creator expects from us?

R. That we can come closer between us, connect between us, discover a mutual force between all of us, toward all of us and in such a way, we can reach a feeling of one heart. The purpose of the Congress has to be that we feel one heart between all of us.

22. S. (41:14) What’s the work between the women during the Congress to not fall into idle thoughts and talks?

R. That each one wants to support the other, help the other, to warm the other, and in this way we’ll all reach this one big, general hug.

23. S. (41:45) What do you want to give to us, the woman, in this Congress, what’s your dream?

R. I want to bring you an anti-ego force, there's still a great need for that, I want you to not be envious of one another, and that between you there will truly be a tendency for love, for connection, for help, for a smile, for a good attitude from heart to heart. But I saw, on the other hand, that the moment I give some attention, like to what's her name, the girl from France or the lady from Moscow. So right away it reaches an outburst of envy, hatred, and rejection, that's why I'm avoiding that. I didn't expect it to be such, that that would suddenly be revealed. Again I'm not used to working with the women, with the men it does not reach such a magnitude. That's why I am really asking for forgiveness from Tatiana from Moscow and Melody from France, I'm apologizing that I made them feel bad, unpleasant. They're not guilty, I'm guilty, and so are you. And let's hope that this Congress will correct it, all the best to you all. Be wiser and the main things, still, we see now how important it is to rise above reason.
