Part 2:
Baal HaSulam. Preface to the Wisdom of Kabbalah. #59
1. S. (02:05) What happens when there's a second restriction where the lights, because we study there's an opposite value of lights and vessels, what happens to the soul when there's a second restriction?
R. The restriction means that we only have vessels of Nefesh and Ruach, and that's why the light of Neshamah has nowhere to be clothed in.
S. So, what happens in the half of vessel of Bina or in Keter, as if?
R. None. There's Nefesh Ruach in all the vessels.
S. So, half of vessel of Bina is belonging to Chochmah, it's not Bina what’s left?
R. It doesn't matter which way you put it, yes. But, there's no room for greater light.
Item #60 (03:07)
2. R. (06:38) I think it's clear. It should be. He's giving us a depiction.
3. S. (06:53) It isn't clear how the AHP of the Rosh of SAG came down from the degree of Rosh of SAG and became Guf. How can Rosh become Guf?
R. By part of the Rosh losing its force of the Rosh and can only get some kind of an illumination from the Rosh that remained in its role for that reason the Rosh got shorter, a part of it fell into the Guf.
S. But the Rosh can't, it said the root vessels and the Guf is vessels, how can one turn into the other?
R. That's what was, that the Rosh was the roots of the vessels and the Guf is the actual vessels. But now we're talking about part of the vessels of the Guf that lost their role. They couldn't receive in order to bestow, they couldn't sustain the lights inside. That's why there's a new state here of the vessels. That the vessels that were receiving the lights and sustaining the lights, now they can't, they're restricted. So, if before all the ten vessels had some kind of sorting and receiving the lights, now they can't. Now, there's only a part, let's say Keter, Hochma, and GAR of Bina. They are performing their duty and the bottom part of Bina and ZA and Malchut can't because they don't have screens that can sustain those lights that they can resemble those lights.
S. So this part of Rosh became Guf is the Sof of Guf that cannot receive light?
R. No, there is no such thing. Part of the Rosh that can't now behave as it did before, it came out of its degree of the Rosh and can't perform anymore. So, it turns out that it's not holding the light but the light is going directly, let's say from GE of Rosh to GE of the Guf.
4. S. (9:46) Malchut ended the upper light on the middle part of the Guf on the inner AK we hear that every action adds sanctity to the previous action.
R. Here there's a restriction. it's not an addition of the reception of the light in order to bestow. Here's the restriction.
S. But, how does the restriction, because eventually there has to be an addition and bestowal here so how?
R. Addition and bestowal here, is that if a vessel is unable to receive in order to bestow it does not enter, it does not activate.
5. S. (11:10) Why, usually all the corrections happen from Peh of Rosh to Peh of Guf called Tabur?
R. Because, that is the part that receives in order to bestow.
Item #61 twice (11:38)
6. R. (13:25) This is the question, is the question clear? Why here the Partzufim begin to clothe from Tabur below and downwards in the general AK.
Reader continues: (13:45) “To understand this we must thoroughly…”
7. R. (14:11) That we have here truly a very special action. I would say crucial to all of the form, the picture, of this world and upper worlds where Malchut and Bina can connect amongst them.
Item #62 (14:22)
8. S. (17:19) What's more important - to understand or to want to understand?
R. That you want to understand. The desire is the important one. Whoever thinks that they understand, blocks himself and doesn't allow himself to hear or renew.
S. How to use that desire? To understand on my own or to use the friends desire?
R. Annul towards the book, and the friends, and what is in the book and the friends, may enter you. Why? Because, you want to be together with them. Nothing else.
S. Nothing to be in the desire.
R. Yes, yes, excellent. And, then you'll succeed.
9. S. (18:19) The connection between Malchut and Bina, it's like something new is created here, a new personality. That upon that everything can base itself. So, what is this new personality? Is it Tiferet and Bina, Rosh without a Guf? The connection between us, it's special, it's opposite qualities that-
R. Right. Correct. Because, Bina is already an outcome, not only of the Keter, like Hochma, Keter is the desire and Hochma is the action. Bina already has within it GAR of Bina, ZAT of Bina, it already has the influence of Malchut upon her. This is why Bina is in the middle between Keter and Hochma and ZA and Malchut, it's in the middle, and also has GAR and ZAT. GAR belongs to the Keter and Hochma and ZAT belongs to BON, which is why Bina is such a special construct. It has a part of the upper and a part of the lower. This is why it can give birth to new Partzufim. This is it. It's her role to be a mother, to be included from Malchut. And, there's a connection between Bina and Malchut.
S. How does it give an example? From the Malchut that has nothing it connects to Bina so what's the benefit? For Malchut, where does she take an example?
R That Malchut connects with Bina it has by that additional vessels of bestowal that she didn't have before. This is a great reward that Malchut. and when it connects to Bina it can address Bina and ask forces of bestow from it and use them.
S. What is a Partzuf without a Rosh? It's exactly that Malchut that wanted to resemble, to take Bina's Rosh, to take an example from her, and do something towards all of the other actions?
R. I didn't understand.
S. A Partzuf without a Rosh was created that Malchut annuls the entire will to receive and wants to take an example, could be only from Bina, and to clothe all the actions that Bina performs on her in ZA of Bina and GAR of Bina towards Keter.
R. I don't know what you're adding. What do you want to ask?
S. What is this new personality, the same point, that connection between the two?
R. Connection of Malchut and Bina allows Bina to open and clothe herself and that Bina begins to work in such a way but it connects between the upper portion of the Partzuf and lower portion of the Partzuf.
10. S. (22:45) What's VAK without a Rosh?
R. VAK is six endings. VAK Sefirot. Rosh is GAR, Keter, Hokma, Bina, Gimel, Rosh and Yod, the first three, and VAK is the lower six, Hessed, Gevurah, Tiferet, Netzach, Hod, Yesod.
S. The coupling happened on that, that let the light go below the Tabur, if I understand correctly, VAK without a Rosh?
R. VAK without a head, yes, it is part of the Partzuf, a part of the vessel.
11. S. (22:49) This level of Nekudot of SAG has equalized its form with the ten Sefirot of Sium below the Tabur of AK. How are Nekudot de SAG equal to Gelgata?
R. Because they can expand down there below the Tabur.
S. What are they resembling?
R. Both.
S. That there's no Hochma? A question about Baal HaSulam's question, he says that 10 Sefirot of Nekudim and the MA of AK, he said that they both came out of Nikvey Eynaim so the question is why did one descend and the other didn't?
R. The MA.
S, I thought the MA of AK comes out of SAG, why does he say Nikvey Eynaim?
R. No no, there he already speaks off Tzimtzum Bet, the second restriction.
S. The Numa?
R. Yes.
12. S. (25:21) The second restriction is that the lower one clothes on Bina the upper one?
We also learn that also in the first restriction the AVI clothes Bina what's the difference in those two processes? Because there we hear the first restriction and the second one close. What's the difference between these two restrictions? AVI of Ohr Hozer clothes the upper one of Bina. What are the differences of the two processes? Because we hear the first restriction and the second restriction. clothes in Bina?
R. AK begins with Peh of Galgata. SAG.
S. Because he closes of Ohr Hozer of Galgata and then it rises, it rises to the Rosh.
R. You want to say that all the lower Partzuf clothes on Bina of the upper? Why?
S. Peh of AB is on the degree of Hozer of Galgata?
R. The Peh of AK in the place of Galgata.
S. So he's in contact with Bina. So here, there's contact with Bina of the upper one here too?
R. But it's not according to the law it just happened that AB is Hochma and clothes in Galgata and SAG clothes in.. but in the second restriction it's a different law that he cannot cloth on Galgata Eynaim of the upper. There's already division of the Partzufim. There is Galgata Eynaim and there's AHP in each and every Partzuf or do I not understand what you're asking?
S. What's the difference in the influence in the bestowal of the lower and the restriction first restriction and second restriction?
R. In the first restriction there is Tzimtzum Aleph.
S, Such a thing happened also in the second restriction or it is an influence of the lower Partzuf and that is it?
R. Again?
S. In the first restriction every Partzuf develops as a result of the beating of the striking and as a result there's movement in a new state. In the second restriction is there also the beating of the inner light and the outer light or is it just a result of the lower one clothing on the upper one?
He's saying in the first restriction the reason for the inner and surrounding light?
R. A cause for what?
S. On the Partzufim develop, on the second restriction is there also a striking of inner and surrounding light? What is the reason for that restriction?
R. Because in the cause for the second restriction Malchut rising to Bina.
S. The asking of the development of the Partzufim makes them keep expanding and developing and onward, is this a result of the upper light?
R. The upper light doesn't bestow, the upper light bestows not the upper Partzuf bestows although bestowal is by the light. I do not understand.
S. What's the reason for the Partzuf, the way they come out in the first restriction and what is the reason after the second restriction?
R. The Reshimot, the records, the differences only in the form and type of records. This is why a vessel can come out in the first restriction, and come out separately in the second.
13. S. (32:23) I think the friend wanted to know about the relationship between the upper Partzuf and the lower Partzuf and the first restriction compared to the Partzufim in the second restriction. What essentially changes in the connections between the upper one and lower one and the lower one after the second restriction? That's why he gave example of the Galgata de AB and the Partzufim that come later on?
R. The second restriction, we don't have that connection between the Partzufim because we only have Galgata Eynaim and the AHP are external to that degree. Maybe this is what he wanted to say.
S. What's the character of this connection between the upper and lower one after the second restriction?
R. That each lower Partzuf is a result of half of the upper upper half.
S. Result of the upper one we're also in the first restriction.
R. From the upper half.
S. So what does this have of the upper AHP that clothes in Bina as well and belongs only to the half of the lower half of the upper?
S. What does it say about their relationship? What renewed the relationship between the upper and lower one?
R. That it is much weaker and smaller in comparison to what happened in the first restriction.
Rav. I apologize…. I am too tired today.
