It is said in The Book of Zohar that prayer is a desire in the heart. The only desire that the Creator reads in a person’s heart is the desire to feel the Upper Light. A true desire must be complete, specific, clear, purposeful, and constitute a vessel that corresponds in both quantity and quality to the Light of pleasure that is meant to fill it. In such a case, the prayer is granted an answer. On the path to the Machsom, at every stage, we are given an additional portion of egoism, and we must rise above it in order to ultimately reach the true desire. We do not know how many such states we must pass through, and it is not in our power to change the predetermined path, but we can accelerate our passage through these states. For this purpose, there are actions aimed at strengthening the connection between us: joint study and dissemination, evenings of unity, and congresses. Such unification gives us a common force - the force of prayer, the power of a passionate, unified impulse, through which the contact of desire with the Upper Light takes place, and the break through the Machsom occurs.
