Daily Morning Lesson: July 20, 2025

Part 1: Recorded Lesson October 22, 2021. Baal HaSulam. Shamati 31. Anyone Who Pleases the Spirit of the People.

Reader: Dear friends in the first part of the lesson we're going to learn a lesson of Rav Laitman from October 22nd 2021. The article can be found in the writings of Baal  HaSulam. We are talking about the Shamati articles and this is article number 31, “Anyone Who Pleases the Spirit of the People.” We’re going to open with the reading of the article. Article Shamati from Baal Hasulam 31, “Anyone Who Pleases the Spirit of the People.”

Reading: (00:41) Shamati 31. Anyone Who Pleases the Spirit of the People

I heard

Anyone who pleases the spirit of the people. He asked, “But we have found that the greatest and most renowned were in disagreement. Thus, the spirit of the people is not pleased with him.”

He answered that they did not say “all the people,” but “the spirit of the people.” This means that only the bodies are disputed, meaning that each one is working with the will to receive.

However, “the spirit of the people” is already spirituality, and “pleases”—that the righteous who extends the abundance, extends for the whole generation. Only because they have not yet clothed their spirit, they cannot attain and feel the abundance that the righteous extended.

Reader: And we'll move to the lesson

Question (Revadim): (02:18) What is a dispute for the sake of the heavens in the Ten?

M. Laitman: Dispute for the sake of heaven, that we still can’t discuss yet. There's no such things between us yet.

Question (Belarus): (02:43) We had an experience in the Ten that, we agreed between us that once a week for half an hour we’d scrutinize things that are relevant for us, and during the meetings we got to states of hatred. But always whoever was there, reached a state of a greater connection. Then you said we should stop scrutinizing in such a way. But we’ve grown and should we go back to it?

M. Laitman: Yes. We now have to bit by bit open up the problems between us so that by overcoming the problems, we will achieve a more stable and stronger connection.

Question (W Internet): (03:41) There’s a lot of questions about the disputes.

M. Laitman: Many questions, I’m not gonna let you ask.

Student: It’s good questions.

M. Laitman: It’s not the topic of the whole lesson. The lesson is about how do we overcome our spirit over our will to receive. When we activate desires to receive between us, we have a dispute. When we want to be in spiritual connection, we achieve connection. And the dispute remains below, the connection is above. That’s how we need to establish ourselves, that’s the topic.

Student:  (04:28) How do we know if the Ten is ready to work with the dispute as you mentioned?

M. Laitman:  I can’t say, these are things that the Ten has to, each and every one in the Ten has to try and measure it, and examine it. How important is spirituality to him as opposed to corporeality. Before we come to scrutinies, and our scrutinies are about discussing the crimes between us, for that we already need some spiritual ascent. That the spiritual goal appears in the connection between us. We have to understand it, feel it, want it. And the connection between us, the more powerful it is, which is measured by the ego that resides in that connection, and also in the amplitude of the connection that’s  above the ego, so according to that, to this we can open this Pandora's box of ours and start working with it. The Creator deliberately created the ego, the evil inclination, and then I created the  evil inclination, I created the spice of Torah, for the light in it reforms. We need to slightly open this bad system of relationships between us, which is what the Creator created in our ego to begin with, and understand that He created it and not us. And if I hate someone, or complain about someone, this is what the Creator awakens in us deliberately. It is not that someone is to blame, or I am to blame, it’s the Creator, He does that in order for us to overcome that and cover it with love. Then it gives us the possibility to achieve connection between us to the point of love in order to discover Him. And there’s no real truth in any of the hatred, rejection, the scrutinies of criticism between us, there’s no meaning to it. It is all in order to build above that, degrees of love, connection. If we do not forget that, then we will come to correct actions and good results.

Student: (07:32) What kinds of disputes should we awaken for advancement?

M. Laitman: I don’t know. I don’t have an answer to this, especially when it’s a question from the women. I don’t know. I also don’t think that we were scrutinizing the disputes here. We’re not scrutinizing who’s right and who’s not, God forbid. We are looking into how we can rise above the disputes until they disappear and become love.

Student: (08:30) How will we know to what extent we’re ready to discover disputes in order to cover them correctly?

M. Laitman: This is something you need to know how to gently, subtly, each one open his negative relations to others in order to make room in your ear and in your heart to hear and feel that love will cover all crimes. That the hatred will not block your eyes and ears. We have to do it with preparation from the group. This caution of the friends and this Arvut already exists between you, and somewhat guards you and helps a person rise above his ego. Otherwise, if he falls down into his ego and hates everyone, and throws everything away, and just slams the door and walks away.

Student: (09:53) How to bring up the dispute in the ten correctly?

M. Laitman: There is no wise as the experienced. But the goal has to be there first. And trom the goal, where we have to strengthen the connection between us, that’s how we need to open up the dispute.

Student: (10:20) Is the explanation on awakening a dispute in the Ten also right for the women’s Ten?

M. Laitman: For women, it’s actually more suitable. Basically, a woman is usually complaining to her husband. Why don’t we talk about our relationship, that we have to improve our relationship. You’ve heard similar things coming from women. So, a lot of women want that, and men typically no. Because what do we want, everything’s fine for us. So, women groups can actually set an example here for the men groups.

Student: (11:19) What are the correct actions on behalf of a person from the moment we reveal the dispute?

M. Laitman: That he hears what others are saying, he tries to add himself there in a neutral way and see things through the intellect and not the emotion, as it says, the judge has no more than his eyes can see, not what his ears hear. So in this way, we can understand the other and try not to remain as a donkey in my own view, but I also want to transcend and understand our connection through the eyes of the friends. Why? Because by that, I increase the connection with them and awaken and strengthen the network of my soul. All in all, we are doing this to build the soul. So, the connection between us, which is essentially connections between the pieces of the soul, is critically important. That’s why we awaken this work.

Student: (13:01) You were speaking about needing to prepare humanity. How do we prepare this path you described for humanity?

M. Laitman: No, for humanity that’s later. Let's first do what we have to do. From our connection of the good and bad, then we can influence them as well.

Student: (13:30) What are the right stages for the Ten to take care of the dispute that awakens?

M. Laitman: Try from light to heavy, but each time open up something, each time open something new. And guard yourselves, that if you start doing that, that it doesn't suddenly turn into a volcano eruption. Rather, it has to be under guard all the time.

Student: (14:09) Does a lack of disputes in the ten bring indifference and death?

M. Laitman: That’s true. It becomes very formal in that group and can't be considered alive. A group that’s alive is a group that goes through ups and downs, just like your breathing cycle, or your pulse, anything that is alive goes through these fluctuations and opposite states.

Student: (14:42) Is a result of a scrutiny in the Ten, could it be that someone needs to change? What does it mean to fix a dispute?

M. Laitman: Correcting the dispute means that I cover it with love. So, hatred and love then work together so that between both of them I discover my group in the correct way and the Creator within them.

Student: (15:15) Is the feeling of a friend who wants to ascend, to bring up a dispute in the Ten, for the Ten, is she like sacrificing herself, that she knows that she's going to be hated?

M. Laitman: No, it needs to be to the extent that the others will understand. It doesn't have to be to such an extent that other friends will not understand her, no. I need to awaken these things only to the extent that we are ready for scrutiny and corrections. That’s why we are talking about this today.

Student: (16:03) Is it right to bring up disputes in a general way about a certain topic, or personally toward a certain friend?

M. Laitman: We usually don’t evoke discussions about a specific friend. Basically, it’s about the spirit that has descended on the group, and we don’t blame any friend, because it’s possible that he is the one who awakens the state. But the truth is that the Creator awakens the state through a certain friend, and thus we relate to it this way. But the truth is, we have to just relate to the seemingly negative or positive awakening that the Creator is generating in us.

Student: (17:09) Should we awaken the dispute in an external speaking, or can I do it inside of me towards the friends without speaking about it?

M. Laitman: I don’t know what to say. I think we do need to speak, after all. It’s true that there are things that pass through thought. We have to try to translate that to speech.

Question (Hebrew 10): (18:14) It seems like, on the one hand, you are very cautious about this topic. On the other hand, it feels from the friends that we need tools how to deal with disputes in the right way. Can you maybe direct us to one kind of exercise that we all do in this direction, something we can realize during the day. Maybe just guidelines, perhaps?

M. Laitman: I don’t know. It depends on what you have going on in the Ten.

Student: So, it’s specific to the Ten. If the Ten feels that it has disputes then…?

M. Laitman: Yes, so you speak about it and overcome that.

Student: If the Ten feels that there’s actually a tendency for some friends to not bring up these things, let's keep everything kind of pleasant and nice, and some people have a pain about things not happening in the Ten and want to talk about it?

M. Laitman: So start speaking about it in small things. Start discussing it and try and bring yourselves to a certain level of mutual understanding. Yes, that’s what I think. I don’t have anything to add. Let's try, start doing it, and then we will see.

Question (Tel Aviv 1) (20:06) To awaken disputes sounds like we’re looking for a fight?

M. Laitman: We have to search for what separates between us and disturbs us from revealing the Creator. You call it arguing, I call it an opportunity to close up on the gaps between us in a way that the Creator can reveal Himself as one for all of us.

Student: It sometimes happens in our ten that there are explosions, there was a fight between friends today, and then sometimes people instead of talking about the point, they talk about the person, it becomes personal. How do we watch out for this?

M. Laitman: I already talked about it, I talked about it. We need not to see it personally, but it’s what the Creator awakens between us, that’s it. Think about it very well and do something between you that you’ll have something to ask about, like all groups. The thing sounds completely unscrutinized.

Question (PT 8): (21:25) Continuing on the question about what daily task we can do, there was an announcement from info yesterday, following your recommendation a few days ago, that we’ll choose a day where all the Tens make an effort to come in full. So, maybe we can send a survey for this today and make an effort on this, this is a big effort for us.

M. Laitman: There’s a survey about it today? Okay, so good, we'll talk about it. Speak about…when are we going to have the results?

Student: The results? Throughout today we will publish the survey. It will take the friends a day or two to answer, and we’ll get enough responses, and then we’ll advertise it.

M. Laitman: Okay. If you do it till tomorrow, so tomorrow we can already talk about it. I'm ready.

Question (Kiev 3): (22:34) You said that we need to be cautious so that this scrutiny won’t turn into a mess. What do you mean?

M. Laitman: I meant that we have to awaken such disputes between us that we won’t  separate once we start hearing about the disputes, but we’ll remain in the Ten and strengthen the connection between us. Because all of the negative states in mind and feeling, all of our will to receive is destined only for us to strengthen the will to bestow, from zero to a hundred percent. That’s why the will to receive was created by the Creator, the evil inclination. Because against that evil inclination, we can draw from it, from the Creator, the light that reforms, and with that light, we can invert our will to receive, the evil inclination into the good inclination. That’s why we need to be with our eyes open, as you know, the way you lead a horse or a donkey. So, you need two reins, either right or left, so he walks in the middle correctly. That’s how we need to take care of it. We also understand the need for the evil inclination because without it, we won’t have the energy, the forces to advance. But how to advance, for that we need the good inclination. And we can advance correctly with the evil inclination. Because our donkey, our matter, our will to receive, will always drag us to the other way.

Student: If at the end of the day there are some friends in the Ten that want to push out one of the friends as a result of this scrutiny, do we need to nullify before them?

M. Laitman: If that’s what the Ten thinks, you should try to convince them and then see. Maybe in our system there is somebody to turn to and get advice on what to do in such a state. But in the end, what the Ten decides and if it stands its ground, so it’s final.

Question (Nikolaev-Sochi): (25:48) I don't know if it’s the right example or not but  let's say if it happens naturally, these scrutinies, in a family. And they will certainly succeed because there are also kids and you need to keep the family together. But there's also a lot of time to scrutinize, and you have to scrutinize. But with friends, we don’t scrutinize it in full because we don’t meet that much, and we don’t have personal meetings and there's also a danger that we won’t be able to fully scrutinize things. It will kind of go, get lost.

M. Laitman: No, it can’t be that it just remains up in the air like this. Each one for himself, even with a bit of words between you, but each one for himself, you have to chew these things, to process them in mind and feeling, and bring them to some kind of form that will be accepted. Then again, maybe speak about it in a few days from now, whenever you can. Even a few words on the phone is enough. If you scrutinize these things, you will understand each other, and if not, so you ask me in the lesson. It’s important things, I‘m willing to speak about them.

Student: I really need to feel inside of me that I’ve accepted the point of view of the friend and that I covered all of these states with love?

M. Laitman: Don’t lie to yourself. If you agree with it in heart and soul, it means that you’re uniting with the friends and advancing to the state that the Creator can dwell in those connections. If you don’t do it, you won’t have a place where the Creator can dwell. The Creator fills places between love and hate. That hatred is the coarseness of the Partzuf, and love is the purity in the Partzuf. Then, in the connection between love and hate there’s the record of clothing and record of coarseness as we say, that’s how the Creator clothes.

Student: Is it effective that, let's say there's some friend who is not participating in some state, can he maybe remind those who forgot? For the people who are in dispute, they forgot that it comes from above.

M. Laitman: It could be.

Question (Moscow 4): (28:53) How is it possible to know in advance that a dispute we want to discover, we’ll be able to overcome it?

M. Laitman: Again.

Student: How can we know in advance that the dispute we’re going to reveal, we can overcome it?

M. Laitman: We can’t know, but for sure we will be able to build upon all crimes, love, if we want it. Such crimes are revealed in us, that is for sure that we can build love up on them.

Reader: Now we will switch to the next part of the lesson, the Preface to the Wisdom of Kabbalah, July 5th, 2006. We’re in the writings of Baal HaSulam, Preface to the Wisdom of Kabbalah, Item 60.
