Why We Feel Less Fulfilled Today from Things That Used to Fulfill Us

Euro soccer is back and fans are truly excited. Hundreds of millions of people around the world watch the games. Soccer has become a true religion for many. At the same time, although the coronavirus pandemic seems to be over, there is a feeling in the air that things aren't going back exactly to how they were. When I was a child, playing soccer was my life. I used to come back from this “punishment” called school to the second half of the day, when I was on the soccer field. Nowadays talking to people you just don’t get the same intensity and enlivenment. It is like the Creator is trying to bum us out, taking away our pleasure from this and from that. First of all, the coronavirus pandemic is not over but these games are. Humanity is losing interest in the things that are already behind us. This is how time works on us: as we grow up, our desires are growing and therefore, we can no longer be fulfilled by the same things as before. Humanity is like a growing child. There is a time for everything, and as we are maturing we want more meaningful things. So what will excite us now? What will give us a sense of enlivenment? A Kabbalist may enjoy a symphony or soccer at the beach and opera. But seriously, humanity is becoming depleted of its ability to just hang out. It must seriously consider: what can fulfill us? What am I living for? This is what has to become clear. We have grown up and now we are ready for higher spiritual fulfillments. So where is the entrance? Where is the door to these fulfilments? What should I think about? The answer: Love another as yourself. It relieves you of all limitations. Through loving your fellow human, through the other person, you come out into the next world; a world that is unlimited.
