Part 3:

Baal HaSulam. Freedom. (The Necessity to Preserve the Freedom of the Individual)

1. S. (08:57) He sharpens the question here that is very essential. What is a person he's subordinate to the previous generations. He's a product, his whole matter is a result of what was before. He's a subordinate to his generation. So what remains of him actually?

R. The fact that a person is a result of corporeal development, we see it. From one generation to the next, somehow we change and if we can say also say develop. Along with that man is also a result of a spiritual development that we see as much as we stole from generation to the next we become more developed, especially in the last few generations.

S. What does it mean from spiritual development? What is spiritual in this development altogether?

R. Drawn to wisdom, science, the purpose of life, want to research the world where we live in. It's still a development.

S. Yes, but it's kind of a certain very natural development he explains. Each generation after generation it's always the same matter that implements itself from the influences of the environment, its potential and then the next thing is born. What is spiritual here? It sounds very mechanical in the manner?

R. Nope, I wouldn't think that. We from generation to the next become more and more drawn towards our spiritual source. Look at what you see in humanity! What isn't in any still, vegetative, and animate that we want to know what our source is, what the benefit of our development is, where we are aimed towards. You cannot find any of that in the still, vegetative, and animate even in the most developed animals. So they can build their homes and families and whatnot, but it's not that they have a matter of science or culture, education maybe a bit but that is also instincts that pass from one generation to the next only. Still man has a special development.

S. That's right, but that's the minority of the minority those things interesting him. Even in science which is not really spirituality. How much does science interest him? What interests him is to delight with the results of science?

R. That's all according to spiritual laws. It's spiritual laws. You have from the 10 Sefirot and the Keter you only have one Sefirot, the 10th that also has a 10th and a 10th and a 10th and only in that there is some kind of a drop of light that clothes there. And that's what affects and activates all the matter of creation, spiritual-corporeal.

S. We want to return to the question from the beginning. A person is a result of let’s say a spiritual development we'll call it that and influences of the environment that impact him as well from this. So what's unique about the individual? He's altogether a subordinate of those two influences.

R. That's why Baal HaSalam explains that everything depends on the society, on the environment.

S. When a person chooses this specific environment?

R. So according to that he develops. According to that he lets those records in him develop.

2. S. (13:23) What is spiritual? What is spirituality?

R. Spirituality is a development of the point in the heart of in a person, the spiritual root in a person.

S. What is a student supposed to hold on to when you differentiated between his spiritual development and his corporal development?

R. The student comes to the place where he can help himself develop spiritually.

S.That is actually the only Freedom a person has?

R. Yes? It's enough.

S. So actually that's the only Freedom he talks about in the article.

R. Yes.

3. S. (14:19) Actually what Baal HaSulam writes here about the other methods is that they claim a person himself can do things, change his fate, his way he is managing himself in reality and Baal HaSulam relative to that says no, it's the environment.

R. Yes.

4. S. (14:40) Baal HaSulam writes that there is no corporeal atom that has a connection with spirituality. We're being in bestowed upon from above, so how does that happen?

R. Right. There's an influence from above downward and from below upward, so we here learn where the border is.

S. So, specifically that border that bestowal from above is expressed in corporeality, in the atoms and all those things. How does that happen?

R. Obviously, it gets an expression from below upward that's already a problem because it's according to equivalence.

S. And from above down?

R. From above downward the upper light can divide and divide and divide until it reaches the last corporeal item.

5. S. (15:59) Baal HaSulam writes to us in the article that the assets of an individual is the heritage of his forefathers of his parents. What is that possession?

R. That the spiritual root that from it we all started developing. That is the same spiritual root it goes through everybody, everybody, everybody until the last point of development. And that's what we have to keep, and keeping it if we build around it an environment and in this environment we want to keep or to implement laws of the general nature, that's it. Then by this we can give that seed a place to develop correctly. Okay?

6. S. (17:36) Baal HaSulam says that the spiritual thing is not in the corporeal body, so how will this help find it and where is this spiritual soul found? How can a person find it?

R. In a spiritual vessel, in order to bestow. If a person reaches the desire to bestow, so what fills it is the spiritual soul.

S. How can a person from his body where there's no connection between the spiritual soul and the atoms, how can he come to…

R. He can't! Only by being in a society and in the society he will reach in order to bestow, meaning they'll try to bestow towards one another and toward the upper light, the Upper Force that's above them in order to get in return the force of bestowal.

S. The spiritual soul is only in bestowal?

R. By society. By society they attain it.

7. S. (19:05) He writes here that when a certain tendency takes on a certain practical manifestation you cannot differentiate anymore. What does it mean that it is no longer a differentiation between good and bad in it.

R. That as much as I understand, the moment he can't discern or separate by his intellect so onward there's already a spiritual development.

S. What is this state? What can you understand that it's all the tendencies became like manifested. Is there some kind of an example that we can understand it?

R. No. I can't give you some kind of an example.

S. In general when he talks about nations bringing ruin to other nations and we don't have and in all those things are lost seemingly because one nation destroyed the next. So did we lose that? Let's say the indigenous people ruined one another, we lost completely small nations. Did we lose that? Then we won't have that information anymore, what we're supposed to get from it?

R. I guess not. We've probably lost it. But it could be but that that was according to the plan of creation. That was supposed to happen. It's like when we develop, so we lose something of what we had before. Some habits of animals or.

8. S. (21:08) He says that the spiritual cannot sit on a corporeal atom but he described here he writes here that finally every individual is considered only a public instrument that is always there at the service and need of the public. Is that something that he's describing as spirituality?

R. No. We are in a human society and whether we want it or not each one is activated by society.

S. He serves the public and..

R. Yes, it is without his desire but he does. How else could he exist?

S. All that's missing here is for a person to be aware that he's doing this?

R. To want it, to understand it meaning that a person himself will develop from the inside in order to approach his role in society in a realistic way, in the desire.

The organizers of the convention asked that all the convention lessons you will be giving from you and before you, you will always be able to see all the Gatherings all around the world. There are 28 Gatherings physically around the world and they're also advertised on the convention site and you can go there and watch and find out also the lesson. Some of them will be longer than usual, the afternoon lesson will be a 2 hour lesson and all together a very special event is planned today. We also sit and think again about the Convention looking at all that we heard in the lesson today to see that it's really answering all the expectations and demands and we will make adaptations.
