Rabash. Article No. 2, 1989. What Is a Great or a Small Sin in the Work?

1. Rav intro: (00:30) Let's first hear it, what does Rabash tell us?

Reading (00:42) Rabash. Article No. 2 “First, we need to know what is regarded as…”

2. R. (28:47) A very special article. Well, let's start.

3. S. (29:09) What should we do so that the Creator will be truly great in our eyes and will truly appreciate what He's giving us if we have no vessels in which to grasp Him?

R. A person does not have the vessels. But when he's in a society by becoming incorporated into the society and subjugating himself toward the friends he can receive from the friends all in all, the feeling of the greatness of the Creator. By that he changes his attitude to what he's doing.

4. S. (29:55) What happens on the step before a person discovers he's serving a great king?

R. It happens. it happened to him in a way that he didn't feel he was serving a great king, but rather in his eyes it was a small King. Then he performs all kinds of actions in order to make the king greater in his eyes.

S. Is there such a state where he feels something, a sign or something that he serves a great king? What exactly is happening?

R. A person that wants to advance starts to understand that everything depends on the magnitude of the Creator in his eyes. Then he checks how can the Creator be greater and greater in his eyes and then he hinges it on only on the environment, on the society and the more he's attached to the society, the society is such that they are all attached to each other and more and more they value the Creator and that each one should help his friend and elevating the greatness of the Creator in their eyes. This is how a person advances.

5. S. (31:39) There's two paragraphs one after the other where it says that if you give to a great person it's considered a great giving and if you give to a small person and then it's a small giving and a paragraph later he says the measure of the work of bestowal, meaning that if a person bestow to a small king or later on if he's bestows to a great king. Why in the first paragraph does he say that you give to a smaller great person and the second one he says that you give to a small or great king?

R. It depends on the person as much as he determines to whom he is now bestowing.

S. Meaning a great person, a small person?

R. A great king and a small king, yes.

S. Are these four separate degrees?

R. Yes.

6. S. (32:56) Why is it important to whom am I bestowing the commandments of whom I am fulfilling if I work in order to bestow, it's not important for me?

R. If we are working in order to bestow then you also have the order ladder of degrees in which you are climbing and it's important to buy what you can elevate yourself.

S. According to what is bitter or sweet in my work, is it according to my ego or something else?

R. It's exactly that, it's according to how much you're receiving bitter or sweet or according to your bestowal to the Creator that in that you feel bitter or sweet.

7. S. (33:58) What kind of intention should we be in order to see the Creator as the Great?

R. We need to try through the society to elevate the Creator in our eyes as much as possible in his height. and accordingly everything that we receive from him will be great in our eyes and accordingly we will feel correctly our advancement on the ladder.

8. S. (34:56) According to what do we shape our greatness and our smallness?

R. As much as the Creator is great or small in our eyes then after we become incorporated in society ,we want to get closer to the Creator.

9. S. (35:36) If I'm already working in order to bestow and I have a great king before me will that not be a reception for me?

R. Yes. then you will feel that everything that you get from him it's actually reception. Correct so

S. The question is, the greatness of the king is not interrupting bestowal, I can have a great king before me because egotistically it feels good to be next to Him.

R. Then you need to establish such relations in between you that everything that you do you are doing it for him.

S. How to build the relationship with him and establish the relationship so that when I reveal his greatness I won't use the reception from him but rather I do everything in order to bestow, not to take advantage of his greatness.

R. Actually it's the opposite and you wouldn't accept the greatness of the Creator in your eyes and you develop the greatness of the Creator more and more in his eyes, so that you will be able to bestow to him with all of your forces.

10. S. (37:08) Is it correct to say that my reward from the Creator is the deficiencies of the friends? By asking for the friend's deficiencies and through this prayer I feel the Creator greater greater in my eyes?

R. Yes, but maybe you want to say it differently. That as much as the Creator can bestow to the friends you feel that as your reward.

S. Yes, but I feel it more and more because each time that I turn to him I feel that he is greater and the good that does good and I feel it more and more through the prayers.

R.. Yes, through friends.

11. S. (38:08) It is written that the most important on the way of bestowing is to make for yourself a Rav, what does that mean?

R. What does it mean to make for yourself and Rav? That we want to build the Creator in the group because this is the upper force that draws us, guides us to the purpose of creation.

12. S. (39:08) I heard that we received the greatness of the Creator from the friends. Does that depend on the friends or the person himself?

R. Both. both.

S. What should a person do in order to be able to receive the greatness of the Creator through the friends?

R. To subjugate himself before the friends.

13. S. (39:45) Is the feeling of greatness or smallness of the Creator related to my own feeling of my own greatness or smallness? What do we need to do in the work in order to feel the Creator is great?

R. To feel that the Creator is important and great and it is possible only to the extent that you value the society. He discovered the Creator in the center of the society.

14. S. (40:42) Is it correct to think that I wish to bestow with all the actions in corporeality and everything in order to bestow?. It's a bit confusing.

R. It doesn't matter to me the work, the family, and all of these things. I am not going to work in them. But rather what matters to me is what the Creator is going to change to me and my values so that I will establish my relation to Him as the most important for me from all of my connections that I have in my life. Is this clear?

15. S. (41:46) I'm a little confused, but I'm trying to understand, how can I recognize true and false without a screen? Because my thoughts are running and not even my thoughts they are the thoughts of the Creator. I'm trying to understand I can follow each path that gets the most correct path there is?

R. That's exactly why you should adhere to the friends, you should adhere to the friends and inside of them to try to attain the Creator. He is inside the group of your friends. Then you will have no mistake on the path.

16. S. (42:57) According to what we say, does everything depend on our perception of reality is everything inside a person and then we gradually discover degrees of the truth?

R. Yes. This is how it is.

17. S. (43:37) Can we direct our work, we raise the Creator whom we build in the Ten is that we raise the connection between us or do we raise It up lift the upper force from which we asked for connection?

R. You will discover the upper force in the connection between you and then you raise, elevate that force.

18. S. (44:18) Bitter and sweet, true and false, how can these two scrutinies connect to the greatness of the Creator?

R. To compare them and where you have equivalence or equality between bitter and sweet and true and false that will always be the truth.

19. S. (44:52) The Lord has pushed me towards you, and you are my teacher. He has also placed me in my Ten. The question is, can one conclude that the Creator, the teacher, and the Ten are his king? By serving them attending meetings, asking questions etc one is following the command of the Creator and possibly bestowing pleasure up on Him?

R. Person gives contentment to the Creator to the extent that he wants to resemble the Creator and to resemble the Creator he has to do it over some example, some device, some instrument, something. This example is the group. as much as the person bows before the group by that he's taking steps towards the Creator.

20. S. (46:49) How come the punishment for slander is greater than the punishment for idolatry? How come slander such a great sin?

R. Well, idolatry we're always in that a little bit because we bow before every Idol that we meet along the way. Later on we decide and then we choose the next idol on the path. But slander is really unlimited. We have to be very much afraid of it. To slander we may move away and deviate from the right path at any point.

S. Is that related to the greatness of the king in my eyes whether he's great or small?

R. There was also this kind of inference but really it changes within you all the time. You yourself don't even know where or how.

21. S. (48:01) How do I ensure that I see the correct King as great?

R. When you see that you truly feel him in the center of the society.

22. S. (48:31) Bitter and sweet a person can discern but what about true and false?

R. We have to reach such a degree that were to such an extent we also attain true and false.

S. You mean it's only from a certain degree and up?

R. Yes.

S. From which degree?

R. We will find out.

23. S. (49:03) Is the flavor of bitter and sweet always felt in the vessel of reception?

R. Yes, of course but rather in what other vessels.

24. S. (49:23) In case we enter the work of Lishma, how can we be certain that I am truly doing spiritual work that's going out to the Creator and he's going to receive it?

R. As much as you move away from yourself the more you are actually in spiritual work.

25. S. (49:49) Can we define a grave commandment and a light commandment relative to the Creator?

R. Yes, the more it is in order to bestow outside of the person the greater it is and the more he is the opposite, it is the opposite.

26. S. (50:13) Is it correct to ascribe all of our necessary daily actions to a great king that obliges me are only relative to actions in the group?

R. Try to ascribe everything to a great king.

27. S. (50:40) How do we recognize the greatness of the king, the quality of bestowal inside the connection that we established between us?

R. How to arrange the greatness of the king in the action of bestowal? Where?

S. Inside of our connection, the connection between us so it won't just be any connection?

R. As much as we take upon ourselves this action and its purpose, to that extent we arrange him, we establish him. very simple.

28. S. (51:26) The great king is the Creator and the small King is the ego?

R. That's a good question. Possibly yes.

29. S. (51:55) It says in the article that alms giving  is greater than charity. What is the difference between alms giving and charity that he talks about in the article?

R. The alms giving is greater than charity, we didn't reach these actions yet in order to truly scrutinize them.

30. S. (52:36) It says, that because of the advice of the serpent the Creator created the other force, the truth and the lie, my question is, how does our ego help us each time to scrutinize the true and false?

R. It shows us where we are, where do we wish to get to, we fall from that level and then reveal ourselves inside egoism. Then it turns out we have two milestones, the upper one and the lower one and we have to navigate our path and how do we rise and be still in fall according to our reception?

S. How do we use the ego as a springboard to finding true and false

R. It happens when you connect your egoisms and your egos and you rise above this mutual ego.

S. We connect our egos in what way, how?

R. And…

S. What is the point of connection between our egos and the egos of all of us? What is searching for the truth?

R. Of course.

31. S. (54:20) I heard now in the lesson that Rav said that in order to receive the greatness of the Creator one has to subjugate himself before the friends, the question that I have is, how to subjugate yourself towards the friends who do not adhere to the advice of the teacher? How can I work in such a place?

R. What you're seeing is incorrect. you should imagine it to yourself that they're all in adhesion between themselves in between the Creator and only you are missing there.

S. If what I say or what I ask now is not only my question but rather a few friends see the same problem we love and we embrace these friends but it doesn't really change, how can we see their greatness and how can I subjugate myself before them?

R. Accept that they are doing great work but you can still not see how they overcome the ego. That's how it is.

32. S. (55:52) Please tell me how to understand the allegory that's greatness Mitzvahs or small Mitzvot or great sin or small sin?

R. That is the result of how we measure things relative to, what do we measure relative to who.

33. S. (56:20) It says do not depend on the commandment but on the greatness of the one who gives the commandments and so in the work in the Ten is this because if you focus on the commandment it limits your ability to give, like it becomes like a checklist or you're justifying yourself whereas if you focus on the greatness of the friends it's unlimited how much you can give?

R. That's how we need to measure the greatness or smallness of the one who commands us that accordingly will have the greatness or the smallest of the commandments that he's putting before us.

34. S. (57:28 ) Bestowing to the center of the group, the center of the Ten, how should I read every friend feel it, exactly?

R. How each friend feels himself in the center of the Ten. That he is connected with everyone with all the members of the group and he wants to rise together with them and adhere to the Creator. This is the correct action, the correct sensation, the correct yearning..

S. Can we say that this is a relation that should be in the Ten that I also pertain to that?

R. Yes.

35. S. (58:23) Is the greatness of the Creator and the greatness of the friends do we fill it to the same extent or is there a difference?

R. The greatness of the Creator, the greatness of the friends we don't feel them exactly the same but only one relative to the other as much as the friends it's higher above it will reveal the Creator as higher.

S. How do we get this greatness of the friends? To make the friends the greatness in our eyes?

R. Rabash writes about it. Speak amongst yourselves in order to make them greater.

36. S. (59:30) Who is the Rav?? It says, make yourself a Rav, who is this Rav that a person should make?

R. The great one. the Creator ultimately..

S. The matter is the difference between a person who is working what he says a person who is great or is serving a great king?

R. Yes.

S. It's always if he's aiming himself to the only force in nature, meaning the Creator. This is how it works?

R. Yes.

37. S. (01:00:21) We learn in the article that our goal is to feel the Creator that experience the pleasure of bestowal as great as it is, he is but it also warns it out of the danger of bitter and sweet, so how do we define correctly where we're in bitter sweet or in true or false?

R. To the extent that simultaneously you are in contact with the group definitions.

S. If I run to the Ten that were in joy to the Creator of bitter and sweet, how do we shift it to true and false?

R. Here you discuss how in the Ten what does the Creator demand of you in the Ten.

S. How do I leave and put the side the bitter and fault and switch the true?

R. how many questions we have we won't even finish anything.

38. S. (01:01:40) The scrutiny of true and lie that it can be bitter actually the truth remains in the correction as well or after the correction it does becomes sweet?

R. After the correction it becomes sweet.

39. S. (01:01:59) To continue the scrutiny we had with the two friends. He writes in the article that bitter and sweet truth and false he might feel sweet but it's not the right way it's not the contract that brings to the king's Hall so the matter of the screen also, all these scrutinies, all these questions that you have before you, this is your screen which you have a connection to spirituality so in our decisions how do we build the screen? What is the screen of the Ten? We don't have such a connection.

R. Screen of the Ten is when we connect and we wish to build together the correct attitude towards the Creator, that's it.

S. The correct relation can you….?

R. We need to go to the next part.
