Our perception of the surrounding world depends entirely on our attitude toward it. Nature has not created anything harmful that needs to be destroyed. If we perceive some phenomenon as bad, we should first check whether we ourselves have caused it through our negative thoughts and actions. In that case, we must correct ourselves, not the world, because attempts to externally “fix” the world only cause it great harm. All the so-called “world reformers” who strive to eradicate what they see as evil only aggravate it and inflict irreversible damage on society. By artificially interfering with the natural process of development, they distort it. It is like picking unripe fruit simply because it is still bitter. Seemingly good deeds lead to disastrous results. According to the law of development, there are two governing forces that act throughout the process of growth: • The “heavenly authority,” meaning the strict laws of nature, which mercilessly govern us and drive us forward through blows and suffering. • The “earthly authority,” meaning the authority of those who have mastered the law of development and have taken its governance into their own hands. To accelerate our development and make it gentle and kind, we must understand that: • The starting and ending points of our development are predetermined. • Up until now, we have developed instinctively, under the compulsion of nature. • We are now given the opportunity to take the law of development into our own hands. • The only parameter we can change in this law is the pace of our maturation. We can succeed through the wisdom of Kabbalah, which has been given to us so that we may become conscious of the ultimate purpose of creation and determine the means by which to attain it.
