Baal HaSulam. Introduction to the Book Panim Meirot uMasbirot. #18

Reading Item 18. (01:22) “Now we come to the heart of the matter…”

1. S. (13:00) We can see that in the eating of the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of the woman, the first time it wasn't a sin, the second time it was. Meaning, the first time it was a change of intention?

R. Because she had taste, she couldn’t make an intention.

S. Our whole work is on the intention?

R. Yes.

S. When does that switch happen where a person starts moving from for himself to bestowing in the intention, when does that happen, how does that happen?

R. Both depend on the intention.

S. Right, the intention.

R. And?

S. The whole Wisdom of Kabbalah is the wisdom of intention, so when does it happen that a person succeeds in working with such an intention that he exits himself and starts There Is None Else Besides Him, how do I bestow? Because that's our entire work here?

R. Yes?

S. When does that happen, what do I need to do in order to make that happen? What do I touch, and how, because if it doesn't happen then that's a problem. That's what needs to happen.

R. What, to touch the Tree of Knowledge?

S. No I'm not speaking about that, I'm speaking about the intention, how do I reach a state where I intend in order to bestow, aiming outside of me to There Is None Else Besides Him? How do I enter that room, what do I need to do?

R. To There Is None Else Besides Him, you can enter only when you feel that you are in contact with There is None Else Besides Him.

S. What, it just suddenly happens that way?

R. No, not suddenly, you come again, and again, and again, each time a little more, until you can see that it looks like you have a connection with There Is None Else Besides Him. With which intentions, which actions, which instances; and you're drawn to it and you work in it.

S. I usually start working when something starts cooking, that's when I start feeling it, according to what you said, that's what I asked.

R. Okay?

S. But at a certain stage it needs to happen, so what happens at the stage before that, so that I can aim to reach that stage, so that I can really aim in an intention to bestow? What should I do in order to reach that state, correctly?

R. You need to aim in your actions to be in order to bestowal.

S. Meaning, I need to miss out a lot in order to absorb that?

R. Because I need to aim constantly, how do I know where to aim correctly? That's the whole thing, that you're ready.

S. It’s this complete opposite of the falseness, that we need to go from that to the truth, so there's an opposite intention here?

R. Yes, that's what you're learning on the way.

S. And then I'm entirely there?

R. Yes, they call you.

2. S. (16:34) What he depicts here in item eighteen, really feels like, sounds like a tragedy, that a person, that the Creator shattered Adam HaRishon into pieces.

R. Yes.

S. Why is the Tzimtzum Aleph that Malchut did, why is that not enough for the Creator?

R. What is the goal?

S. We say that it's to adhere to Him. Those words are not clear enough now, to equalize in form with him to adhere to him because he shattered Adam HaRishon after Tzimtzum Aleph it's still insufficient.

R. And?

S.  I'm asking why isn't that enough for the Creator?

R.  Why is the sin itself of the Tree of Knowledge not enough?

S. He caused Adam HaRishon to sin. I'm asking why did the Creator do if Adam HaRishon made the Tzimtzum Aleph and to equalize with Him?

R. There's not enough data off of which you can perform a restriction and corrections and there needs to be a shattering.

S. What's the purpose of the shattering?

R. The purpose of the shattering is to collect additional information. From the shattering it will take Reshimot, records and raise them to correction, to connection and then you have connection 620 times more than what you had before.

S. How can the created being Mendel this shattering because this sounds like something huge, what's happened here?

R. The created being cannot do it but because he's in the system then even in his actions, he's causing ruin to the entire system.

S. The mending of the shattering that he's able to fix or something huge?

R. He starts from one system, from one point, sorry.

S. How does a system support such correction? How does he do it?

R. There are Reshimot, records in the system from the smallest items to the biggest, from the shattering all the way up to the end of correction. It's all in the system.

3. S. (19:42) Until the end of correction, what is the intention, when do I reach correction? What is the purpose of creation? What is the intention? How do I work on myself in order to become corrected?

R. First of all its connection with the friends and from the connection with the friends to advance toward connection with the Creator, inside the connection of the friends.

S. Do I also need to work on my lusts or my things that work on myself in terms of things of my personality in order to bring those to correction? My qualities?

R. It depends on what's happening to you along the way. The important thing is the connection with the friends and through them connection with the Creator and what's revealed in that connection then you'll need to correct that as well.

S. That's the purpose of creation?

R. Yes.

4. S. (21:08) First you depicted how a person comes close, how he feels There Is None Else Besides Him, and how he comes to that gradually. I also heard that a person could make an error that it appears to him as if There Is None Else Besides Him. Can the Ten help the person in that scrutiny and how?

R. The Ten must help a person because all the corrections he needs to carry those out in the Ten.

S. But we say not to share inner impressions in the Ten, from things like There Is None Else Besides Him, that a person feels that he revealed. You said that it is not worthwhile sharing some such impressions in the Ten.

R. They talk amongst themselves the friends of the Ten and then they can discuss. Other than that, which is concealed in his heart what he feels personally in the heart.

S. Which is what?

R. Which is what he keeps and doesn't open up to everyone.

S. How do I differentiate between an impression of There Is None Else Beside Him and not self-consciousness?

R. We will talk about it. These are extensive things.

5. S. (22:40) There's a point here that you can feel here in the article or at least I felt it, that he feels the first time in relation to that which he tastes the second time. This taste of the same thing the second time, what should your response be in order to taste it correctly? Because the first time you tasted it, great, now you have flavors, you have what to work with. How do you each time taste and not escape but you've tasted, and you've continued tasting it?

R. Before a state of, “I ate, and I shall eat more.”

S. How do you know if you feel that you cannot bring out of that flavor what is demanded of you? It could be that it repulses you, that you don't succeed and then you exit. You move or you wait. How can you keep eating to simply keep eating? What is the advice for that point?

R. You mean to receive in order to bestow?

S. Yes

R. Not in order to receive?

S. No, to take that flavor that you once tasted and now you have correct work with that.

R. If you have Reshimot, you have records from tasting something in order to bestow you can continue. What is the question there?

S. The question is trying to understand that we constantly increase the flavor for the person. How does he continue to keep working on that correctly?

R. Did he perform a good correct action before?

S. He did a correct action and as a result of that he now has flavor, he succeeded to taste.

R. Yes tasted something in receiving in order to bestow.

S. Now he wants to continue.

R. Yes okay and now something is revealed against it?

S. What can he do in order to rise onward?

R. Connection and prayer.

S. Could there be a state where now he sees that it is hard for him because he needs the prayer? Does that cause him to move, I mean to distance himself if he tastes again?

R. Maybe I don't know what state you are speaking of exactly. If he tasted something and he managed to do it in order to bestow then he goes a step further in bestowal; he prays he asks the Creator for additional forces and with those additional forces in the intention to bestow over a bigger taste and that is how he advances.

S. Thank you.

R. You have to digest it.

6. S. (26:45) Sorry for my impudence, I felt in the first part and also now it's a little bit in the hints and now I want to put it on the table. I revealed that truly at the end of it all I'm going to die.

R. Who is I?

S. My ego, our ego.

R. The ego, that's nice.

S. That is even the purpose of our study. My question is can we say it together because maybe each person feels it individually and maybe they feel it and he doesn't share, but maybe we can say together what you said, that it doesn't matter what He does with us. So maybe it is good to tell Him that I understand now, where I'm headed, and now I am ready to continue with that until my end, the end of my ego.

R. Yes. So yes, we will die.

S.  Together.

R. Together. If it’s more pleasant for you, then together.

7. S. (28:27) Can I also ask in the name of the friends in order to bring down the very high state that we are not attaining, to the state of the world Kli? Can we say that the first sin is the deficiency of the Nukva? We wanted to bring contentment late, we wanted to bring contentment and do the right work but there was impatience to do so, and the state is still not ripe in terms of its ability to scrutinize and deal with things in the Ten. And the second, you can say the more masculine part of the Ten, doesn't stop and says wait the authority needs to be given in the end from above. So, where do we stop and check how much we have the authority to scrutinize something specific, and the third sin is we touched something unripe, and we say that you’re the Creator that does all the actions and we adhere to you. I see me, and the Ten, the world Kli, and especially on behalf of the women in the world Kli we ask questions and touch on points in the article, very profound, heavy, and deep things and we don't understand that we need to go from light to heavy and that is tough because we get blows out of that. For example, we touch on the article, and we start talking about what is high and such distance principles from us, and we are as if freed ourselves from that, but we do not develop a practical tool where in our limitations we can start working with it and then friends’ distance themselves, I see that connection, I don't know if it is truly that way.

R. I still don't understand what you're trying to ask.

S. Okay let's erase everything, in what we just read here in terms of the work in the Ten. What does it mean the importance of working from light to heavy?

R. We must do that, otherwise we will not understand the heavy if we don't go through the light first. That is a simple law. The law of accumulation, all the laws of nature work this way. This is how we see the development of nature itself.

S. Again I need to speak for myself from my experience in the conventions, they also requested from us to bring our scrutinized deficiency to the upcoming convention of what we want this convention to deal with. I already as if feel, and based on experience, that we need to go full-on, but we try aiming at the eye level as we say, and it is a very big difficulty, like you said, if we don't go from light to heavy, we will fall. And I share this doubt that if we don't put it in front of us, even though we need to go full on about it, setting a practical goal for ourselves in the work, then we will simply eat an unripened fruit, and it has happened before.

R. Okay. Each one will think about it and we will see.

8. S. (33:25) With what desire did some cheat Eve and go against the commandment of the Creator?

R. We will have to look further into this introduction.

9. S. (34:17) Can I ask about the end of the excerpt? Is that the sweat comes drop by drop, I remember one of your talks with the friend, that a person comes to a shop of the Creator, and she came with the whole bag, and he just gave her seeds, and she said how do I grow these seeds and the shop owner said you start with sweat, so what is that correction?

R. Well, let's get to it and then we will speak, not according to what you felt like asking.

10. S. (34:58) When we talk about redemption and the expectation of the arrival of the Messiah, is something we need to believe in and where do we get to it in the next world?

R. Two very nice questions. Where do we reach in the next world? Wherever you want to reach is where you will reach.

S. About redemption, how do we treat the topic of redemption and the arrival of the Messiah?

R. We relate to that seriously and we truly expect it.

S. Expect every day to the arrival of the Messiah.

R. Yes, with every day that comes.

S. The revival of the dead, the resurrection of the dead?

R. Yes, and everything connected to that.

11. S. (36:00) Even though it wasn't clear from the side of the Upper Force, even if it was clear, Adam and Eve broke the Covenant and listened to the snake, so it turns out that they trust other forces besides the Upper Force. So, what am I asking, the sin is a sin of idol worshiping.

R. Well.

S. In that case, how should each person correct the sin?  What should he do in order to reach the discernment of one unique and unified in his life? What is the correction of the sin?

R. The Correction of the sin is that we in all of our actions wish to, before that reach an intention in order to bestow, in practice. That is all.

12. S. (37:09) Can I ask another question about another topic, the Congress? So, we have the world Kabbalah Congress called “Life in the Ten” and it takes place at the end of January the 27th and 28th of January, Saturday, and Sunday morning until evening. Of course, it is going to be broadcast over all of our systems and I also have big gatherings all over the world also here in Petah Tikvah, the Israeli Kli, men and women will gather here for great activity. I wanted to ask about the topic that we chose is life in the Ten. I want to hear from you what it means, life in the Ten. What is truly life in the Ten?

R. Life in the Ten is that I feel myself constantly in the Ten and my life is there, that is where it exists.

S. How do you come to live in the Ten so that your whole life is there, and you see all of reality through it?

R. Everything that I want to reveal in my life comes from my extent of connection with the Ten.

S. In the Congress is it correct to feel everyone, to look for newer feelings of the world Ten, or to look for myself in my Ten or am I in a random Ten meaning in a smaller group?

R. We always have that question, and I would say that I continue the connection with the Ten. The convention passes and as much as I waken into it and continue something new, then I return again to my state.

S. So, in the Congress it is best to freshen up the random Ten and then linger back to your Ten?

R. To refresh yes, like as if you go out for a vacation that could be but that is temporary.

S. It is best to be random or go deeper with the same friends?

R. To go deeper in the convention as much as possible and then afterward come to the Ten and to go deep in the Ten as much as possible with all the Reshimot, with all the Impressions from the convention.

S. What can we change in such a gathering? What can we expect?

R. A greater awakening, greater urgency, more surrounding light that pressures me, that brings me to closeness with all of the groups.

S. If we look at the state in Israel and the state of the world. What can such a congress give us?

R. The convention can give us a gathering connection such forces that we can arise to a spiritual degree, all of us.

S. In what way is the Congress different than the daily lessons? We have very strong lessons daily in the morning and the afternoon and evening. What is the contribution of the Congress?

R. There are both of these, you have morning lessons that are stronger than any convention, and we have the convention which is stronger than any morning lesson.

S. Again relative to the goal, if we look at Bnei Baruch right now, what is the next destination, not the end of correction, the next destination our own spiritual advantage, and where do we aim in this congress?

R. That each one exits his heart and connects with the hearts of the friends, and he progresses accordingly.

13. S. (42:15) Why is life specifically in the Ten?

R. That is how it is written in the books. First and foremost, that we, in the beginning, are built in such a way where connection in the Ten through that weekend find the beginning of a higher degree.

S. What does it mean in life? That specifically this life he managed to find in the Ten and we can't find him anywhere else, what exactly is this life?

R. Life is what you get in a special Kli that connects with other Kelim that have a different root.

S. What does it add to a person on top of his state without a Ten?

R. It doesn't add anything to him, a person needs to be in a Ten, that's all, otherwise he will not change his spiritual state.

S. Where does spirituality start exactly?

R. In connection with his partners.

14. S. (43:49) Sadly I keep saying it and you also confirmed it. Every time there's a congress whether you are sick or we’re sick or with the covid and the mess we are in here. Friday the 7th or Saturday the 7th I heard the rocket alerts, and I sat here and asked what was happening and I said there was a rocket alert, and no one believed it. It was a huge mess afterward. I want to ask you a question, what do we need to reveal in the Congress the coarseness in order to discover this great light in the Congress that we need to have coarseness, diseases, and difficulties?

R. Whatever there is on the path.

S. Okay good, so how can I skip over it? Every time you say there is a congress I personally stress out and I get sick. You also said when there's a congress you get sick. Why does it have to work this way, why not straight to the light? Why do we feel so rotten before Congress? How, why?

R. I don't make calculations with that.

S. But you noticed it, you noticed that we have illnesses and a mess before the Congress?

R. It's from our effort.

S. It is not that we have to reveal greater coarseness before the Congress or in the Congress itself?

R. I don’t think it relates to the Aviut. It relates to the inner effort that we give and then we enter into all kinds of states of change.

S. These potholes, it is really potholes.

R. They're very good.

S. Good, how does that help us, these potholes?

R. We hope to come out of it with a greater inquisition.

S. With a great correction?

R. Yes.

15. S. (46:05) About the Ten in the Congress which relates to another topic, I would like to ask about. Rav also has a Ten and you also teach us in a complete vessel. When you come to teach us, when you are together with us in the state, we feel that we are one big Ten and you are with us together.

R. Yes.

S. There is a way to be on the one hand in your personal Ten and also a person comes out to a general Ten.

R. There's no individual Ten during the convention we all connect.

S. Also when you come here you don't have your Ten in your heart?

R. No.

S. I'll go to the next part of the question. There are people among us who teach other students. Sometimes there is a state where you connect, you have to pass spiritual force and you are in connection with your students when you teach them.

R. Yes.

S. This form, is it okay that I connect with a different group of people compared to my nucleus team?

R. Is that important? Well, If possible, but please, otherwise we all connect.

16. S. (48:15) A question that combines the text with the Congress. In the text, it says it talks about a second taste from the negative, I want to ask from the positive. In a congress, one of our most important congresses Rav gave the Prayer of Many and we all had a very deep experience of what is the prayer of many and I've been waiting for a long time for our prayer. We have Tens now, the spiritual state has changed, and we have gathered in Tens that are waiting for common action. The question is can we use this new vessel of Tens and create a common prayer for the many together, he who takes his sons across as it’s called; ahead of the Congress, during the Congress, to do something new, powerful together?

R. Yes.

S. The friends asked together, and we asked for something together.

R. Okay, we will reach that.

17. S. (49:29) In the coming Congress we want to build it together, we want to strengthen the Tens. Each one to strengthen his own Ten and then the entire Kli. At the end of January, the Congress. We ask the friends in the Tens in the world Kli to send us all kinds of problems, challenges, and things that are in the way because we see according to the questions many things have repeated themselves, ongoing problems in the book of the Ten, so to speak, we have to go through, the playbook of the Ten. How to get in and take care of such problems? What is the correct way? You started the workshop but how do you see us approaching it so maybe one Ten will support another in its problem?

R. That requires a discussion, and it is quite complicated. I think that we need to first build this center between us, a group or something like that, that supports everyone, all the friends of Bnei Baruch and then we will be able to know what we can carry out afterward.

S. Can you elaborate on that?

R. No, I don't have the data and I also don't belong to that.

18. S. (51:04) I agree that this is what we have to do, this center. So, we will sit and talk about it and for the whole world Kli to have a place in it.

R. Okay, with all his friends on that, if they all connect in that, so suddenly you will receive a center from which there onward we will be able to continue correcting ourselves properly.

19. S. (51:47) A question of direction, a scrutiny of us as members of Bnei Baruch if I may. We are I think most of the Tens, veteran Tens around the world, and we are in a state where we are touching this bestowing in order to bestow, that is my feeling, that we are all trying to annul ourselves and do everything for the sake of the Ten. This state or the next state that you are trying to push us to called receiving in order to bestow, to build a screen, is it correct that to receive means to receive any state the Creator is giving us and to tie it to us, and to bestow means to be into contact with Him, to live with Him in prayer and gratitude and with a request. Is this discernment correct?

R. Yes, in general, yes.

20. S. (53:20) What do you think about combining in the Congress to have both the random Tens that we can incorporate with others, and we will also be able to get back to our own Tens, our fixed Tens, so we can feel the difference perhaps in the impression.

R. I don't know, I'm not opening a forum on that now. You speak with the organizers and afterward will see what we can do and what we shouldn’t do.

21. S. (54:04) How do we develop the sensitivity to feel the Reshimot, the records, in order to work correctly in a measured way?

R. Talk to the friends in the group. Among them are Reshimot which you need to awaken and go with that Reshimot onward.

22. S. (54:35) About what the friend asked, he said to die together, and made people laugh but it is not very funny at all. I thought about it, why can't we define that to die together is a primitive solution, it is not the destination to die together.

R. If you are speaking about the will to receive then killing the will to receive is correct to kill oneself.

S. What do we do together?

R. We help each other?

S. In terms of this primitive solution, I don't want to repeat the word.

R. No, we're not speaking about that word. We don't want to speak about that in the Wisdom of Kabbalah. There still remains for us one last question.

23. S. (55:51) I'd like to bless all the newcomers, welcome to our temple. Here you will receive a remedy, here you will receive the opportunity to ask to be a human, Adam, and I'm asking you, don’t forget to ask to become Adam. By that, we give contentment to the Creator. Thank you, friends, thank you for being here, l’chaim.
