Part 2: Continuing the Convention With an Ascent
Reader: We're continuing the convention in an assent, we'll be reading select excerpts from our sources. We're in excerpt number 13, right now. Excerpt 13, Rabash writes,
Reading: (00:20) Rabash. Article 300. “A Land Where You Will Eat Bread Without Scarcity”
One must engage in Torah day and night, that the night and the day should be equal for him, as written in The Zohar (BeShalach). In other words, the state of completeness called “day,” and the state of incompleteness called “night,” should be equal. That is, if his aim is for the sake of the Creator then he agrees that he wants to bring contentment to his Maker, and if the Creator wants him to remain in the state of incompleteness, he agrees to this, as well. The consent is expressed by doing his work as if he were rewarded with wholeness. This is regarded as “agreeing,” when the day and the night are equal to him.
But if there is a difference, to the extent of the difference, there is separation, and on that separation there is a grip to the outer ones. Hence, if a person feels that to him there is a difference, he must pray to the Creator to help him so there will not be a difference for him, and then he will be rewarded with completeness.
M. Laitman: Questions?
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (02:09) How can a person pray for himself here?
M. Laitman: What is the problem?
Student: I heard that a person needs to pray for his friend and not for himself, but, it is written here that he needs to pray for himself.
M. Laitman: Here, the intention, supposedly, is such that the person prays for himself because he does not have the power to pray for others. But, he can pray for himself, so that by working on himself, he will correct everyone else. Alright? Yes, sir, yes, Reader.
Reader: Excerpt Number 14, from Rabash, again.
Reading: (03:27) Rabash. Article 1 (1991) “What is, "We Have No Other King But You," in the Work?"
A person should say that the fact that he is in a lowly state is not because now he has become worse. Rather, now, since he wants to correct himself so that all his actions will be for the sake of the Creator, from above he is shown his true state—what is in his body, which until now was concealed and was not apparent. Now the Creator has revealed them, as it is written in the book A Sage’s Fruit.
A person says about this that it is mercy that the Creator has revealed to him the bad in him so he would know the truth and would be able to ask of the Creator for a real prayer. It follows that on one hand, now he sees that he is far from the Creator. On the other hand, a person should say that the Creator is close to him and tends to him and shows him the faults. Hence, he should say that they are mercies.
M. Laitman: Is that alright, no questions except for one.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (05:15) It is written that a person sees that the Creator is doing this to him and that it is for his benefit. I see that not every friend manages to do this.
M. Laitman: To accept it?
Student: Yes, to see that the Creator is doing it for his benefit. This enters a person into a difficult situation especially if it is prolonged. What I am missing here is how the Ten takes care of this situation.
M. Laitman: The Ten helps the person to accept all these states as being generated by the Creator. And then the person goes through these states within the group, and so he sees himself advancing.
Student: Yes, ideally this is also what should happen.
M. Laitman: Yes.
Student: But it is clear that he needs the force of the society to operate upon him and for him to be able to receive this influence.
M. Laitman: Yes.
Student: Here there's this barrier, I see that until we advance somewhat, the light has an impact, it bestows and gives people the work. But they don't yet have the ready vessel to be able to use the Ten as they need to in order to get that internality and that support. Then, you can see that friends are in a state that they're going with this burden on their shoulders and it's not possible to share it in the Ten, to share this burden. Some of the Ten can be in a high mode, some of the Ten can be in a low state, and they don't manage to balance at all.
M. Laitman: So, what do you recommend, then, what do you think should happen?
Student: First I would ask why the Creator, after all He's not supposed to be putting an obstacle before a blind person. Why does the Creator give so much light without a person having those vessels, yet? Maybe that's how I see it but if it's so, then how is such a thing possible?
M. Laitman: The Creator wants the person to understand, exactly, the difference between himself and the Creator and for the person to want to correct that and to see that it's all under the Creator's control, and so to ask the Creator for this correction.
Student: You're giving us a lot of power right now, but a practical advice of what we are capable of doing without that force, we don't have. When we are between us, we don't have what you just did now. I really feel like you gave us the power, the force to work with it. It's like pinpointed in that place, you helped. And then we go back to ourselves and say, I can't understand?
M. Laitman: You, all of you, each one helps his friend. You hold each other and you push everyone towards that connection between you.
Student: I would really like or want that the upcoming Convention, it's like a reading and a prayer for us to somehow strengthen this power, this connection where we can truly perform an action that is spiritual this way. And be able to give the forces to one another so we'll be able to use the forces of one another. There's a part that wants to give and is capable, there's a part that needs to receive and is not capable. These things are very painful for the time being.
M. Laitman: Yes; and what would you recommend?
Student: I feel like we need a miracle, that the Creator needs to be involved, seemingly. And I also know that this miracle is something that we need to understand that's why I am appealing to the Rav, who's above us all. Maybe there's some, maybe how to continue and not let this thing fail us. Maybe, we're not yet, but for us to be able to continue and not fall in an absolute way, like you said in the beginning of the lesson. But to be able to nevertheless advance with us. That's what I would recommend, to nevertheless advance without falling, as long as we don't fall. That's what I think we should work on.
M. Laitman: Alright.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (11:11) When the evil inclination is revealed in a person and he doesn't feel pain. How can he turn to the Creator and organize himself with his mercy or his grace?
M. Laitman: A person can turn to the Creator from every state for every state and the Creator will always hear and will always help. It may be that a person in his current state does not feel that but the Creator precedes the person's request, even. And changes the person's condition, conditions, he changes the place, he changes the luck, as we say, that's how it happens.
Student: Even a thief can build a connection with the Creator and ask from him? Is it such a thing?
M. Laitman: Yes.
Student: If I see something bad in my friends, and I weigh it in me, how do I need to scrutinize this matter inside?
M. Laitman: That we still need to learn, it's not something we've learned, yet, but we will have to learn how to understand what exactly we should pray for. What exactly we should ask for and how we should be as we undergo corrections? And I think that specifically in the Turkish group, there is a very strong, good connection between the friends! Most especially, and you can realize it, and well.
Reader: (14:01) I heard you said earlier not to pray for the health of the friends or the long life of the friends but about the connection between us and with the Creator. How can you not pray for the Rav?
M. Laitman: Well, it's not important, the Rav will get what he needs, what he deserves. If you all merit it, then I will have power and health and I'll be able to continue. And if not, then no.
Student: What does it depend upon for us to merit this or that?
M. Laitman: It depends on your desire to reach adhesion with the Creator.
Student: The connection between us and the world Kli, does that give power or forces to the Rav? Health?
M. Laitman: Yes, of course.
Reader: Excerpt Number 14 from Rabash.
Reading: (15:03) Rabash.
M. Laitman: Yes, from the Creator, mercy, grace, always reaches us.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (16:42) Is there another connection other than prayer between the Creator and the created being?
M. Laitman: From the side of the person, there is no connection; other than prayer, there is no connection.
Student: Because the Creator is what He gives, and the created being is what he receives?
M. Laitman: Yes.
Student: So, prayer is the process of feeling?
M. Laitman: Yes.
Student: I also wanted to ask, the clothing of words on the prayer, is that necessary, is it needed?
M. Laitman: I'm not sure I understand.
Student: When I feel the process of the prayer, I, also, need to feel the clothing of words upon it?
M. Laitman: Yes.
Student: Why?
M. Laitman: Because in that way you can express yourself, the Creator doesn't need it.
Student: I can't feel the process of prayer without the words?
M. Laitman: Yes, yes.
Student: What's the connection between words and vessels?
M. Laitman: Words are vessels.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (18:17) About the excerpt, when the Creator discloses a certain record, beyond the gratitude for it being revealed, what does the work in that place need to be?
M. Laitman: What does the work need to be? Continue?
Student: What does the work need to be when the Creator reveals us something and we are supposed to respond to it? What does the next step need to be?
M. Laitman: In the next steps are such, where He gives you more tasks.
Student: So, is gratitude enough, then the request for correction, is that enough?
M. Laitman: It depends on the place.
Question (Novosibirsk): (19:33) We want to join to what was said, really a most warm Convention here in Krasnoyarsk. We did a mirror convention in Sakhalin, we want to thank you and all the friends, first and foremost! All the members of Dneborukh for this amazing Convention, and of course to the World Kli who have invested so many efforts. And received such a wondrous event that we managed to receive the next degree. And I wanted to ask, when we talk about the Ten, do we have a clear example and that’s Rabbi Shimon's Ten. There may have been other Tens who reached complete correction. What is necessary, what is the foundation or criteria, so that the Ten in its incorporation will be able to do the work that is expected from the Creator, from us? What is that quality to see, to hear in the Ten, the Creator?
M. Laitman: A corrected Ten is a Ten that works as one, as one man, meaning in which each person fulfills his function. And of course, everyone supports each other, develops each other up to the maximal point of integration, that's a Ten. And such a Ten is always demanding the Creator to give it more light for its growth, it absorbs this light and grows with its help, and comes closer to the Creator, that is all.
Question (Moscow 1): (22:27) How can I aim myself towards the Source, and with that, achieve the ego so it will be combined?
M. Laitman: We turn to the Creator to give us the force of bestowal, not the force of reception.
Student: Is there a difference between the prayer that's aimed outside of me? When I'm talking about ego, it's probably something that's more outside of me, or nevertheless inside. After all, the source of the light comes from outside of me, so, is the prayer internal, from within? Does it need to be aimed inwards or outside of me? Well, maybe outside of me, it's understood, because I'm saying, give me this, give me that, but inside of me, what should the prayer be? About what?
M. Laitman: Within me, it's an egoistic prayer. Outside of me, it's an altruistic prayer for others.
Student: But if I call something outside of me by a name, I give it names, so what is that?
M. Laitman: That's not correct, that's incorrect.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (24:06) Rav, an hour ago, answering friend’s question, when asked what you leave after yourself? You said the building, what do you appreciate so about this building?
M. Laitman: The fact that there is all that is needed in order to be able to bring forth the correct meetings.
Student: Okay, I'm asking, given that we had centers in the world's Kli, which we closed down. Maybe it's possible to give concrete advice to certain groups but there is a certain misunderstanding regarding our current framework. People study from afar, all the Kabbalah centers were closed, is this the optimal way to study? Or should we start thinking about establishing centers? People ask where is our work here in this new reality?
M. Laitman: We don't know the new reality, it's constantly changing so I can't advise you. All I know is that the organization of Bnei Baruch Israel is big and it must have its place. That's why, first and foremost, I thought how to acquire this place. And, in this way, it came out that this place is meant for us. I don't know what else there is to add. The thing is, it turns out that in your groups, there isn't some manager that would engage in that goal, that he would take it upon himself to take care of this matter. But when I understood that without a permanent place, we won't be able to resolve this problem, this building was found and we could buy it. I think you, too, need to think about this.
Student: One second, you talked about a manager. We have Tens, we don't exactly have a manager, we have Tens.
M. Laitman: Right, Tens.
Student: That's a complex question: In my Ten, I'm in a different country and we have some members of the Ten in one state, some in another. Physical meetings, that's not a simple thing for us. Even if we had a place to meet him and I think it's the same for many, many friends. But in the Congress, physical centers are very important, and do we need to do something to have such centers so as to meet on a daily basis?
M. Laitman: Israel is a completely different place, and if we were to succeed to do this in another place, I don't think that, necessarily, it could happen in all kinds of other places, I don't know. But until, we will be in one place at least once or twice a week for us to be able to gather, methodically, we won't be able to feel what the Ten is, and that we have some kind of group and so forth. It's simply impossible. Alright.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (29:49) Rav, you said until we are able to be in one place, we won't be able to realize it. The question is what does it mean to be in one place? Are you talking about location?
M. Laitman: Location.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (30:31) Yes, I'll try to continue with that subject. Maybe ask a question that was asked yesterday, a little different. So, I want to understand if there are a few friends who are close to each other and they have the appropriate conditions. We understand that the world is not the same as Israel but they have a place where they can meet. But reality being what it is, we have Tens, which are different. Even if there are people who are close to each other and can meet, but they're in different Tens, they're afraid of meeting each other, there's this fear of betraying the Tens. I want to ask if some friends who are in different Tens, but can meet in one center together, does that contribute to their, does that help them?
M. Laitman: Yes. Thank you. Alright. What else do we need to do?
Reader: You can read more excerpts or listen to more questions from the friends?
M. Laitman: Do you have any other things to ask, even though it's the end of the lesson?
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (32:32) As I told you in the Congress, I come from Africa. And when I came here, I felt the need to have a place, like a center in Africa to assemble the friends from Ivory Coast, Togo and other countries. So, I tried scrutinizing within myself if it's an egoistic desire, should I start promoting this idea? Is it a thing that's actually necessary? Because it took me two airplanes to get here, two flights, and it's difficult for people to come here regularly to Israel. So, can you help us do anything, maybe? I'd like to think that at some point there will be a place where all the friends can come together and meet and see each other. And if possible, maybe even friends from Israel can come down to us and meet us and strengthen us!
M. Laitman: I don't see that I have something to help them with. You will find it, you'll find the sources for it in our sources.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (34:23) Congress showed me the devotion of the strongest, the strong students, and what I'll take with me is the tears of the friends as a symbol of their gratitude, their cry, their prayer. It's all one, it's felt, it's so huge; and under this very humble external form, clothing of our friends, there hides superhuman power. And with all that power that was revealed in the Congress, I didn't feel myself to be nothing, a zero. To the contrary, I felt big, as big as my friends. Is it good to remain in that state? Or is it better to lower myself a bit?
M. Laitman: No, no, it's good to remain in such a state, don't be afraid to be great. Like a hen that is brooding over her eggs in order to cover them.
Student: Thank you for all the great work, the Congress, and really I bow down before the great friends.
M. Laitman: Yes.
(Petah Tikva Center): (36:30) I'd like to continue the scrutiny regarding physical centers because in Germany there's also such a desire, a yearning to re-establish our physical center. From what I understood, we should be thinking about that, and that the center isn't just for one Ten but for many, many more.
M. Laitman: Yes.
Student: We're thinking about renting out a physical center in Germany. Should we do that?
M. Laitman: I'm not saying that you need to do it, I am just saying that there needs to be some common place where you will be able to enter at least once a week. You'll be able to stay in it, it doesn't need to be something fancy, it can even be in some village or I don't know where? But this should be the place where you can gather and perform your activities.
Student: There is such a desire in the German Kli; now, what would it give us if we had a physical center like that?
M. Laitman: You'll be able to meet there, all kinds of groups, and to continue this way. I don't know, if you feel that it's necessary, yes, if it's not necessary, then no.
Student: We have this desire and thank you very much for the scrutiny.
M. Laitman: All right. Yes?
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (39:40) Every few years you share some innovation with us. Buying the building, then Tens, Integral Education, and so on. Do you feel more innovations coming with respect to dissemination, or will we just dive deeper and deeper into the Tens?
M. Laitman: I don't see meaningful changes in our structure, in our organization, in our activities. No, nothing, no big innovations, no special novelties here.
Reader: We can continue.
M. Laitman: Okay, continue, and we will see you.
Reader: (40:38) So, we shall now summarize this very special lesson we got from Rav. So, in your Ten, summarize the main points you heard from Rav, and which you'll take with you for the rest of the day.
Reader: (01:01:23) Thank you, friends, we'll conclude with Rav's words: “The whole world is under the Creator's governance, the force of the good who does good, and we are operated by Him. Of course, we are operated by Him towards a sublime spiritual goal, and so we will advance”. Again, “the entire world is under the Creator's governance, the force of the good who does good, and so we are operated by Him. And of course, we are being operated by Him towards a good, sublime spiritual goal, and so we shall advance”.
Song: (01:02:17)
