Rabash 42. Serve the Creator with Joy
1. Rav’s Introduction (00:34): Yes, this is basically the main diagnosis that we have, that all of our thoughts and actions and everything that we have, our desires, everything that fills us we have to discern whether it is in favor or against the Creator. We are in it in thoughts, speech, action, we feel that we are with Him flowing with Him, really going together with Him to the point that we are in adhesion with Him and every thought, every action and desire we are with Him and in maintaining that, that is how we live. Our purpose of life is to be in each and every action that we make with the Creator like a child next to the adult or two that are equals, doesn't matter how but I'm next to Him and I always feel that in thought, speech and action I'm going along with Him. That requires me to examine myself.
Is it really so? Are we parallel to each other? close to each other in whatever I do in life or whatever events in life happen, am I with Him? In doing such actions and obligating myself to always inspect my connection with the Creator and so in my entire life I want to go step by step with Him. So do I stay with Him and go together and that is essentially the adhesion required of us and bit by bit, by my efforts I begin to feel that indeed my desire and thought and action must always examine whether I am in adhesion with the Creator and if I am feeling that I am with the Creator that fills me with joy. This is basically my analysis of the situation, my discernment in each and every moment in life with respect to thought, speech, action and everything that is happening with me. Am I bonded with the Creator along with it?
2. S. (04:37) What does it mean to be in adhesion with the Creator?
R. To be in adhesion with the Creator is to feel within, at least within as much as I can imagine to myself that I am in the same thought, same action, same desire towards the same goal, what I understand that the creator moves me, how he advanced me; meaning, in every action and everything that I do I am looking to not stay away from, to not separate from, to be in adhesion with the Creator. These efforts bit by bit actually not slowly, but quite quickly take you to the goal.
Yesterday I received from one of our friends a short letter about the Congress that is coming up and he wrote there that we are doing the congress and we cannot wait for you to help us advance, something like that. I was happy to read these things. There is a demand there, there's some inspection, there's some deficiency, showing the desire very well; However, there's also some lack of understanding there. You have to turn to the Creator and not me. I'm not the intermediary or the one who connects you to the Creator, I direct you how to turn to the Creator, who to turn to and in what way but not more than that. All the rest, it all depends on how through your connection you turn to the Creator; therefore, the sign that you are turning to the Creator correctly is joy.

3. R. (09:30) Meaning we have constant treatment, none stop from the Creator, from above, only we have to be aimed at Him, at feeling Him and then there's no problem. We will be correctly aimed towards the upper force towards the right goal and all the rest is assured for us. So again, to be sorry for not feeling the Creator, the greatness of the Creator essentially, it is not just a sensation of the Creator because there's a difference either I feel Him or I feel His greatness and one should be joyful even though I have only discernments that I do not feel the Creator, the greatest of the great but I know that I need to feel and I will look for it. I haven’t looked for it yet but now I need to start looking for Him to seem great in my eyes and then I can already be happy. I will read it again: The Zohar asks, it is written the Lord is near to the broken hearted. Here is a question: the Creator is near to those whose heart is broken, those whose heart is not broken the Creator is not near them.
A servant of the Creator whose intention is to bestow meaning he wants to reach a state where he bestows from the connection to the people, let's say the group, to the Creator and then the Creator can appear there and thus it will bring joy. This means that the work will be for serving the king; That the Creator sees the created beings preparing a place for Him to be revealed. This means that his intention is in order to bestow, that he is working to set up a place for the revelation of the Creator, such a person should be happy when he is serving the king, he is preparing the place below, even in this world, a place for the King to be revealed, a place for Him to fill and if he has no joy during this work it is a sign that he lacks the appreciation of the greatness of the King the greatness of the Creator that if the Creator was great in his eyes then surely he would be happy doing even the smallest action for a great King.
As you remember we read that article that an important person comes to the city and the carrier takes his suitcase, if it is an important person then the heaviness of the luggage is not felt. It all depends on the values of how valuable that important person is. If a person sees that he has no joy in his work, in his life then he should make amendments, he should correct this state that he has no joy because it means that he has no appreciation of the Creator so how can he advance towards Him? Our work is to bring contentment to the Creator and we do that only by equivalence, by getting closer to Him; Meaning he should think about the greatness of the King and if he still does not feel the greatness of the King so he should pray. This is always the case, if we do not succeed in something we should immediately pray so we are in one of two states either we have the recognition of the greatness of the Creator or the prayer that we lack the greatness of the Creator, that the Creator will open his eyes and heart to feel the greatness of the Creator.
Again it all depends on how much a person appreciates the greatness of the Creator. And here he says two discernments develop: one, he should regret of not having a sensation of the greatness of the King, two, he should be happy that his regrets are about, what he feels are about spiritually about the Creator, that he does not feel Him, that he does not feel the deficiency in Him and not like the rest of the people whose regrets are only in order to receive; Meaning, the deficiency that he feels is a deficiency to feel the greatness of the Creator so as to be in an actual inclination to bestow to Him. Like when you give to a great person, you receive, like the example of the important person and the bride.
When he receives from her it is equivalent to giving to her. These things are the foundation of nature. We should know who it is that gave us the awareness that our regrets should be over spirituality and one should be happy about that, that the Creator sent him the thoughts of spiritual deficiency which in itself is regarded as the salvation of the Creator and for this reason he should be happy. R. A broken heart means that a person still cannot be bonded with the Creator wholeheartedly, but also feeling the broken heart which is what man feels in his work, this broken heart brings him correctly to the corrections and the goal because he feels what needs to be corrected, where the shattering is, why he is not whole with the Creator with all his heart, with all of his desires and intentions and the revelation of the incomplete state directs him to the Creator and to adhesion with the Creator.
5. S (19:14) Why do I forget the Creator? Why do I forget to adhere to the Creator in every state?
R. First of all in each and every state where we are in any kind of contact with the Creator and especially through the ten we have to be happy that there are; nevertheless, scrutiny and corrections. In every state we need to pay attention to that. There is no state that is not connected with the broken vessel and the correction by which we feel that the vessel is broken, that we want something, correction and fulfillment and that already needs to give us joy.
6. S. (20:34) He said that when I do not feel this pain of not being in adhesion with the Creator, let's say, how do I acquire this lack to feel pain that I'm not in adhesion with the Creator?
R. Listen, start from things that are far like for instance let's say you disconnect from the friends and the wisdom of Kabbalah and the Creator and all those things and you're immersed in this world, there sometimes like that as well and then you come back in your thought what is going on with my spirituality and so forth. So here there is room to make an account and be sorry why am I being thrown away by the Creator so that I do not think about Him and spirituality and turn to the Creator and ask Him, do not do this to me. Try, see how much of your time you can save in your day to be more in your thoughts with the group and the Creator which will surely advance you faster towards that goal.
7. S. (22:22) What is the reason, or what is the nature of joy? Because we remain in the perspective of the observer, so what are we observing, what causes the automatic joy when we come to such a place?
R. It depends what the joy comes from. Joy can come from several reasons. Here we are talking about a person being joyful in beginning to actually come closer to the Creator and then there are many degrees to it, what does it mean in order to bestow? Bestowing what? What am I doing for the Creator by going with Him in every moment in my life and this is how we advance.
8. S. (23:42) It is said the whole earth is full of his glory. How do we come to feel that all the friends are filled with the greatness of the Creator?
R. This means that I need to reach a state that I feel the Creator everywhere, in all the actions, in all the incidents, I feel that it is coming from the Creator, that He is doing it and there's none else besides Him and in all of these incidents He expects me to discover that it is coming from Him and to adhere to Him and make actions that, as a result of them, I will stay in even greater, more whole adhesion with Him.
S. Yearning to know?
R. No, we're not talking about knowledge here, no. It's just something that is secondary, it is on the side, we were talking about the feeling of adhesion of the person with the Creator in wanting to reach a state that in every move and every thought in anything that awakens in him, he discovers or wants to discover that it is coming from the Creator and he goes with it in each and every moment of his life.
9. S. (25:34) During the day a person has to perform a lot of mundane actions, how to include the Creator in those actions?
R. Try to simply see more and more that you are in contact with Him, that He is next to you, try it from afar. That in every state, every moment and whatever you do the Creator is behind your back, directing you, going with you and ready to do anything to do anything with you in life and it should not prevent you from doing each and everything you're doing in life. From your work issues and family matters, each and everything, do not be afraid and do not be ashamed. If you are doing all of your actions, all of them 100% whatever you do, with the presence of the Creator this indicates that you are with Him in complete adhesion.
10. S. (27:20) Rabash is writing here that we need to be happy that all the deficiencies are because of spirituality, so it turns out that I need to have a deficiency for spirituality but form where can I get a deficiency for spirituality if my perception of spirituality is only from the books and from what you say and what the friends say but spirituality itself, I never felt it, so how can I be happy? From what?
R. You want to discover the Creator in your life; Meaning, who is the Creator? The force that holds, sustains you, accompanies you each and every moment that you feel your existence and how you operate. There is an upper force that operates you and that is essentially what you want to feel, to discover, to be bonded in adhesion with this upper force that accompanies you, that operates you.
This is called the revelation of the Creator and adhesion with Him. So try, you yourself, this is called awakening from below, try to always be in such a state, or at least sometimes, to try to be in that state where you want to discover the Creator as operating you and accompanying you in every moment of your life. At least here and there and from time to time at least. That is how you should move closer to Him, essentially that is how you determine the first article in shamati, there is none else besides Him. That is how it happens.
11. S. (30:17) Is having the feeling of gratitude for the friends, for the path, for you, does that make me feel closer to the Creator? Does that give me a feeling of the Creator?
R. Yes, of course it brings you closer. This is called from the love of the created being to the love of the Creator.
12. S. (30:54) There's a question about the appearance of joy, if previously I would do something and I had a clear criteria, that I did not want to do it and it was against my ego, it meant that I specifically had to do it and if I had something that was easy than it is for the sake of my own ego. Now out of the example of having to serve one who is more important it is also for my own ego so where is the overcoming here?
R. There is man's inner work here, he has to split his life for now perhaps to life that is aimed at spirituality, the group, the Creator and his life that is aimed at work, family and that is how he should divide it. Maybe he cannot put everything together, it truly is difficult and confusing.
How do I aim everything towards the Creator? It is difficult, yes and sometimes it is not just difficult, sometimes it is impossible because you will be looked at in a way that you are not that normal. What we need is to gradually arrange our lives, through the group. Talk about it, how, what do you do, how do you advance but most importantly for us is to understand that after all of our desires and actions stands the Creator and He is doing it and what is required of us in all of our thoughts and actions that we seemingly do is to glue ourselves to Him because ultimately we're doing what He's doing. It is not us, it is Him doing it, none else besides Him, but in wanting to advance towards Him and determine that the Creator exists in all of our actions and He is doing it, by that we are come closer to Him and adhere to Him, that is our goal.
13. S. (33:56) The concept of the greatness of the Creator does it exist in a person's nature? Let's say I'm afraid of someone who is strong, I envy someone who is rich, but when I try to understand the concept of the greatness of the Creator I'm trying to think of all kinds of small things humans think, but for the greatness of the Creator we have to cultivate some different quality.
R. I think it is simple. There is an upper force and it exists in each one of us. It made a shattering so that we are detached from Him and a descent is in such a way that our state is below all the spiritual degrees in the complete detachment from Him and He directs us and fills us and sustains us in every state,from moment to moment, in every thought, speech and action. There is none else besides Him and our whole goal is to return to Him after all, to awaken our connection with Him, not just connection with Him, we exist in Him and He literally fills us to the brim.
This revelation is what we need. Bit by bit we have to discover it, that is what we are talking about. So it does not matter what I do, where I am, what I feel, I need to feel it like: this is the Creator and what is outside the Creator, in my mind and heart, is all a concealment that the Creator himself is doing for me to learn how to discover Him through this concealment. The more I try to discover Him through the concealment. I find strength to understand Him, feel Him, think of Him or appreciate Him and so on and so forth and that is where I have work to do. I am building my vessels so that despite the concealment I have to build within me vessels to feel the Creator, see above the concealment or on the contrary or through the concealment, that is what we do.
Feeling the Creator and being in contact with Him through the concealed, meaning connecting through Him, through the reflected light and then the more I overcome my will to receive and I long for the Creator to penetrate through to Him, through the concealment, which is my ego. That is how I ultimately come to Him, that is our work. It is not a problem. The problem is that we still do not want to do this work together and like anything is a lot of work, especially spiritual work, you cannot do it alone you can do it only together and that is what he writes about. From the giving of the Torah he writes that only if we connect we can make steps towards the spiritual, towards feeling the Creator.
14. S. (38:47) What you just said, that by working through the concealment we learn to look at the friends or attempt to look at the friends as great, preferably within reason or above reason but the greatness of the Creator stays like something abstract in the feeling. Is it meant to be like that so we stay deficient of feeling the greatness of the Creator so that we always use it as fuel to work and consume it?

R. If I understand, especially if I feel that I'm getting closer to the Creator that I am engaged in the most important and greatest work then I am always high-spirited and I'm drawn forward towards the Creator; it all depends on the importance, and importance depends on the environment.
16. S. (40:48) In which vessel should we feel the joy in the will to receive, do we feel the deficiency all the time?
R. We feel a desire for spiritually and our desire, even in order to receive. This is where we begin.
17. S. (41:33) The first condition that he gives here is the intention to bestow, and I heard you say that one whose intention is to bestow it means that he is preparing a place for the revelation of the Creator. What does it mean to prepare a place for the revelation of the Creator?
R. That I want to feel Him, connect with Him, be like Him, adhere to Him like a baby, like a child, even like an embryo; to be in Him. Meaning for this I need to completely restrict myself and truly make myself a part of Him. A part that adheres to the Creator has no Independence whatsoever, I annul myself completely, I relinquish my whole life only so that my life becomes adhered to Him, to the Creator. And, whatever events He wants to do with me I will go through them, complete restriction and annulment for now according to those desires that are revealed in me, for the time being.
S. How do we do it, with the ten?
R. Of course with the ten, I need to receive all these powers through and from within the ten. The fact that it seems to us that we are advancing alone is still not enough; it is still not the powers of the Creator that are coming to us. It is seemingly from Him but it's still not spiritual forces: Spiritual forces are ones that are received through the ten, like when I want to bestow back to Him, to someone, I have to bestow through the ten if I want spiritual bestowal to come out of it.
S. How to constantly be in this measurement as he says here: it is like an art, to constantly measure where you are and divide yourself into pieces and check these pieces, how do we do it?
R. I did not understand, again.
S. In this article he checks where he is, when he has the greatness of the Creator and when he does not have the greatest of the Creator, then he prays and then he feels that he regrets it, how to constantly be in this in the examination?

That is the meaning of the blessings before each and anything a person does, this is why the sages said you have to say a blessing, like grace before each and every action.
S. How can I measure the result or my feelings regarding that?
R. The result you will measure it according to your feeling, to what extent you could during your action be with the feeling of the Creator; Who accompanies you, feels you, directs you and to what extent you connect during the act together, and are inside of each other, in this way you come to the conclusion of the action.
S. What should the result of this action be, joy, gratitude?
R. Joy that you perform this action and through this action you achieve connection with the Creator.
18. S. (46:56) What should I do in order to obligate the Creator to give me conditions so that I can serve Him?
R. What should I do? Constantly think that you want the Creator to fill you to accompany you and together with you to do every single action in your life and not to separate from you. That you are weak and you can forget about Him every moment. So, you ask Him in advance that He will not leave you and he will be attached to you, and will hold you in everything; constantly be connected to Him, so that he will accompany you all the time. If you do it in the ten or in a group, with as many people as you have, then you will see how it works. This is called “each will help his friend”, when each one asks in some way, here and there during the day to be connected to the Creator, and you add the group to it, that you want it to happen to the friends as well. By this it is as if you are creating an insurance policy that you will not forget and by this you are investing in the friends and the friends nesaseraly invest in you; there is a mutual responsibility here, which happens from above and they maintain it from below.
19. S. (49:00) When I was young I used to engage in sports and in practice I used to imagine that my father was always with me, watching me, and this helped me make the maximum effort, to bring it out of myself. Can we use the same imagination also with respect to the Creator that He's always with me, accompanying me, like a game, will it help me with my intention to do everything with him?
R. Yes, of course it would help.
20. S. (49:44) How is it possible to feel joy and sorrow simultaniously?
R. It is possible, although for now it is not mandatory, we're not talking about it.
21. S. (50:10) The connection during all of these actions to the friends and to the ten. How exactly is it done? How do I tie them to this thing?
R. We want at the end to come to a state where the Creator accompanies us every moment. Of course He does it, He begins “I am the first” as it is written. But we wanted it to be an awareness in our thoughts and desires and our feelings. Therefore what we need here is support, that the environment will support it too and then we will not have any problem. Very quickly if we think about it as a group, all of us will begin to feel that we are nearing the Creator through connecting between us in the right environment, in the right connection.
S. It means that when I already received the strength from the group to tie some action to the Creator, what I have to ask is that also the friends will be connected to the Creator?
R. That too, yes.
S. Meaning for myself and the friends?
R. For the time being we're talking as though it is for me, but afterwards you actually begin to understand that the friends and i there is not so much of a difference, it is one system, and I should not divide it into anything, not according to time, not according to actions and certainly not according to pieces that we divide into tens, ect. I need to try to attach all the parts together, by this I revive the entire system and then I feel from all those pieces that we are seemingly distant and now we are connected and begin to feel great support from them because it is the surrounding light that influences me and really adheres me.
S. There is the work that you now talked about in general and there is the corporeal world which is most of the hours of the day, there too the creator is present?
R. Do you think that there's no Creator there?
S. No, I'm sure He is, He's in everything, but what is the work there because there we spend most of the hours of the day?
R. You are there in silent work with a Creator who accompanies you and with you in every moment, in every action, and every connection, and every act.
S. I don't understand what He wants from me there?
R. He wants you not to leave Him. Very simple. Can you take Him as a partner with you?
S. If I feel that I can’t keep the conditions that He's giving me there for example?
R. If you need to lie you can ask him to move away a little bit from the place where you need to do your monkey business.

R. Imagine that the Creator accompanies us all the time; with us, near us, as a partner or He fills us and directs us from within, in our hearts and minds, as we say “His glory fills the world”.
25. S. (57:08) How to correctly discern and see the Creator behind the friends?
R. We learn it, we read a lot about it, Rabash writes about it; that behind every friend stands the Creator, that there is none else besides Him. You need to try and also talk about it together.
26. S. (57:30) How not to be embarrassed when we feel the Creator behind our action that we are actually using Him for a personal egoistic purpose deliberately?

You could say that the Creator can accept anything and He can give anything, that is true, so ask Him for everything; just adhere to Him with all your deficiencies.
30. S. (59:42) If a friend constantly feels the Klipa of the shells, how can we bring him out of that state?
R. I cannot say quite what to do but it seems to me that he needs to imagine that everything he has is from above, from the Creator: The shell, the Holiness, everything, and the Creator is directing him through these two reins, like you direct a horse, like you steer a horse.
31. S. (01:00:26) What does it mean or what is implied in that we need to regret? How do we do it, with the whole ten or each one individually?
R. Both.
32. S. (01:00:33) Where do I meet the Creator, in myself or outside of myself? Do I have to feel it in or in my inner conversation or to see it outside of myself?
R. Initially the Creator seems like he's outside, and He accompanies a person, and afterwards a person begins to feel that the Creator is His own inner force; that he can be in dialogue with and in this way he gradually crosses his own image with the image of the Creator together as much as possible. This is basically our work on the path towards The End of Correction. That my image and the image of the Creator, I try to make them as we said yesterday, they become one, this is the complete adhesion.

34. S. (01:03:23) We read that “the Lord is near to the brokenhearted '' so a servant of the Creator that his intention is to bestow, must he be happy that he is serving the Creator?
R. Well, of course she does. This is why the article is called “Serving the Creator with joy”. Where's the joy from? From me, directing myself to the Creator. Even though I haven't achieved it, I haven't come to serve and come to correct or to do something but still I somehow direct myself.

R. If he regrets it, it's a sign that he has no greatness of the King. If he does not regret it then he has no greatness of the King and he has no sign.
36. S. (01:04:44) What changes in us specifically, why is the joy in the work of the Creator replaced by a feeling of heaviness and indifference?
R. Because we don't feel that we're missing it. We don't feel that we're missing it. You understand? It's really like we don't have it and we don't need it. The salvation of the Lord is as a blink of an eye, everything depends on how much we can interpret, we can relate them to ourselves.

R. We need to know that what we receive we receive from the Creator and we will truly feel that it's coming from Him.

R. In a person he feels that everything comes and everything he has comes from the Creator.
39. S. (01:07:40) How to know that the joy in the service to the Creator is genuine and it's not some schemes or some plots of our egoism?
R. It doesn't matter to me now if it’s from the ego or not from the ego as long as I'm attached to it, adhered to it and then not for her sake we come to her for her sake.
