234. The first chamber from which the Garden of Eden is nourished is Yod-Hey. This is a chamber and an upper chamber. There is no vision in it, Hochma, and there is no color in it whatsoever, but rather as it was colored temporarily upon the measuring of the harsh spark, and rose again to Ein Sof in the hidden concealment.
235. That first chamber, when the measure rose, the coloring and concealment passed, and no color was seen in it at all. At that time, on four sides—south, north, east, and west—they are seen in hiding in the south north, and are openly covered in east west. They are four letters: South north are Yod-Hey; east west are Vav-Hey, and they are as it is written, I will be what I will be.”
AVI and YESHSUT were made from Bina that went outside the Rosh of AA, for due to the ascent of Malchut to Bina, the ten Sefirot of Bina were divided into two degrees: From KH of Bina above the Malchut that ascended, upper AVI were established, and from Bina and TM of Bina below the Malchut that ascended, YESHSUT were made. This is so in Katnut [smallness/infancy].
In Gadlut, Malchut that ascended and split AVI and YESHSUT into two Partzufim goes out from there to her place, and AVI and YESHSUT become one Partzuf: AVI is the right, and YESHSUT is the left. They ascend to the Rosh of AA and then AVI receive Hochma from HS of AA and bestow upon YESHSUT.
AVI receive their correction to be face-to-face right from the Katnut, while they are still in the two vessels KH, and in the two lights Nefesh-Ruach, since Bina desires mercy and repels Hochma. Hence, they are corrected in the Hassadim of RADLA, for Hassadim are more important than Hochma, and are regarded as GAR. However, since YESHSUT are under the Malchut that ascended and ended AVI, they cannot be corrected by these Hassadim, which are pure air, since the judgments of Malchut detain them.
For this reason, they do not have a correction of GAR unless at the time of Gadlut, after the ending Malchut has gone out from under AVI and descended to her place, at which time AVI and YESHSUT become one Partzuf, right and left, and rise to AA, where AVI receive from the HS of AA and bestow upon YESHSUT. After AVI bestow Hochma to YESHSUT, they promptly return to their state, Hassadim that are covered from Hochma, since they are always desiring Hesed and have no desire for Hochma.
The first chamber from which the Garden of Eden is nourished is Yod-Hey. Yod is AVI; Hey is YESHSUT. This is a chamber and an upper chamber, where YESHSUT are a chamber, and AVI are an upper chamber, and there is no vision, meaning Hochma, in them, or color whatsoever, since the illumination of Hochma on the left makes the red color, and because of it, the right is regarded as white. But in AVI, who do not receive Hochma to their left, and the left is not in red color, the right is not to be discerned as white, which is why they are regarded as colorless.
Although at the time of Gadlut, AVI and YESHSUT become one Partzuf and rise to AA, and AVI bestow Hochma upon YESHSUT, and tThere is color in them, after they bestow Hochma to YESHSUT, they immediately return to their degree: covered Hassadim. For this reason, the color is promptly canceled from them, just as it was temporarily colored upon the measuring of the harsh spark and returned to rise to Ein Sof in the hidden concealment, where at the time of Gadlut, when AVI receive Hochma from HS of AA for YESHSUT, and they are necessarily colored, it is only for the time being, and they immediately return to receive Hassadim from Ein Sof in the hidden concealment, which is concealed from Hochma because they desire mercy.
That first chamber, when the quality ascended, after they completed bestowing Hochma to YESHSUT, the coloring had passed, and they returned to the state of pure air, in which white, red, and green colors do not apply, and they were established in covered Hassadim, and no color was seen in it at all. Hence, no color is seen in them.
Moreover, even YESHSUT, who receive Hochma, do not receive for themselves, since being ZAT of Bina, they choose Hassadim. However, they must complete Hochma in order to bestow Hochma upon ZON. But after they bestow Hochma upon ZON, they, too, return to covered Hassadim.
At that time, on four sides—south, north, east, and west—they are seen in hiding in south north, and are openly covered in east west. In the two sides south north, Yod-Hey, in which Hochma is seen, since they rise and receive Hochma from HS, it is seen there in concealment, since after the extension of Hochma, they return to covered Hassadim and are concealed from Hochma.
The two sides east west, Vav-Hey, ZA and Malchut, in which the Hochma is revealed, the Hochma must be covered in them since it is forbidden to draw Hochma in their place. Rather, they receive the Hochma from below upward to the extent that AVI and YESHSUT drew.
It follows that although the Hochma is revealed in ZA and Malchut, it is still covered, for it is forbidden to draw Hochma to their place, unless from below upward.
They are the four letters Yod-Hey Vav-Hey. In the Yod-Hey, they are seen in hiding; in the Vav-Hey, they are covered openly. They are “I will be what I will be,” HBD. The first EKYEH [I will be] is Hochma, AVI. “What” is Bina, YESHSUT. The final “I will be” is Daat, ZON that ascended to Bina. “I will be what” is AVI and YESHSUT, Yod-Hey, seen in concealment. The final “I will be” is Daat, ZON, which are openly covered.
