Is Immigration Killing New York?

23. Nov. 2023
There’s been growing concern over an immigration crisis in New York, with more migrants sleeping on Manhattan’s streets, even in winter. The city’s mayor has proposed housing them on cruise ships, while others push for strict border control and deportation. It’s a complex issue: migrants seek a better life, and while immigrants helped build America, many citizens now feel entitled to comfort and reluctant to host newcomers. Legally, a country has the right to control its borders, but morally, the idea of a homeland being "mine" is being challenged by the growing awareness that the Earth is a shared home. Though once hopeful that people would recognize nothing truly belongs to them, today’s humanity often acts selfishly. Moving forward, a global re-education is needed—one that shifts our mindset from individual ownership to collective responsibility. Only then can we build a better, more united world.
