Daily Morning Lesson: July 17, 2025
Part 3: The Ruin as an Opportunity for Correction - Selected Excerpts from the Sources #4.
Reader: Now, we're in the lesson on the topic of The Ruin is an Opportunity for Correction. We're going to read selected excerpts. We are under the breaking of the vessels, excerpt number four. Rabash writes:
Reading: (00:22) 4. RABASH, Article No. 13 (1990)," The Importance of a Prayer of Many" - Twice.
We should believe what our sages tell us, that all the pleasures in corporeal delights are but a tiny candle compared to the pleasures that exist in spirituality. As it is written in the Sulam Commentary (“Introduction of The Book of Zohar,” p 173), “This is the meaning of the breaking of the vessels that preceded the creation of the world. Through the breaking of the vessels of Kedusha [holiness/sanctity] and their fall into the separated BYA, holy sparks fell along with them to the Klipot [shells], from which came the pleasures and love of every kind into the domain of the Klipot, which pass them on for man’s reception and for his delight.” It therefore follows that the majority of pleasures are in Kedusha.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (03:36) What does it mean that the majority of pleasures are in Kedusha?
M. Laitman: It means that if a person has thoughts which are closer to bestowal, then he is close to spirituality.
Student: What kind of pleasures are there?
M. Laitman: Whatever he describes to himself. There are no real ways to divide this.
Question (PT 13): (04:41) He says that the majority of pleasures, I'm sorry, he says that all corporeal pleasures are just a tiny candle compared with spirituality.
M. Laitman: Yes.
Student: Do you have any ability to use corporeal pleasures in order to advance in the process of correction?
M. Laitman: Yes, but they're not there to shorten our path and push us towards correction. Ultimately, all pleasures, without exception, we need to view as coming from transgressions and corrections, and as much as possible we need to separate between those two. And to see what we can use to separate them, to separate between them.
Question (Turkiye 1): (07:52) The Ten is going through many disappointments. How in spite of the disappointments can we still reveal the sanctity, the holiness?
M. Laitman: Look, our path is a short path. A person is given, let's say, a hundred years to engage in it, and that's his path. There isn't any real option, any real way to shorten or stretch the path, but to the extent a person listens to what Kabbalists say, then he can make this path, to that extent, he can make the path more comfortable, faster, to be impressed by it more fully, and that's how one can advance.
Question (Kyiv 1): (09:41) You said that all the pleasures we have to observe them, separate them, and see what we can use and what we can't. How to do this work correctly in order to detect these sparks of holiness and get back to the starting state that we read about in the excerpt?
M. Laitman: I think that this is group work, and it will be good if we divide everything to Kedusha and Klipa, holiness and shell, and in that way, if we can see ourselves using holiness with the upper light bestowing upon us, manipulating us, bringing us closer to holiness.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (11:23) Rav, what is the secret of the shattering of the vessels?
M. Laitman: The secret of the shattering of the vessels, that is a spiritual operation which was done from above, and as an outcome of it, in all of man's desires, there is also a light, there are also sparks of holiness and sparks of bestowal all mixed together. And our work is, in all the events that we go through, all states, that we will discover the truth, which is that we have nothing. Nothing that's important other than to occupy that boundary between holiness and shell.
Question (Holland): (13:16) It says in the article, pleasures in corporal delights are but a tiny candle compared to the pleasures that exist in spirituality. What does it mean, the word tiny? Has it to do with small or has it to do something with the quality of the pleasure?
M. Laitman: No, that could be more quantity or quality, and we're not, we're not withstanding this division, and according to what, but we just try to move forward as much as possible, determine the differentiation between corporeality and spirituality and advance this way.
Student: So let's say, the difference in where we feel it, the place?
M. Laitman: No, there isn't quite a difference. We can be more in spirituality and feel less, or more in corporeality and feel more, and all these things need to go by us in order to give us, in order to give us a feeling and attainment by which we, by which, yes.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (16:08) I want to ask, I understand that there's holiness and the shells, and there's also a border between holiness and the shell. What is that border?
M. Laitman: The border between holiness and the Klipa is the main scrutiny we have. Above that border, we distinguish as Kedusha, and below the border, we associate it with the Klipa, with the shell,
Student: And don't we want to be only in holiness?
M. Laitman: No, our work is by us… We would really like to be more in Kedusha, but it is impossible. But rather, it appears to me more, that it's more important for us to be in Kedusha, that to be in Kedusha is the goal.
Student: What's the scrutiny a person does on that border between holiness and the Klipa?
M. Laitman: The scrutiny is that, in Kedusha all the actions are connected to bestowal. And in the shells in the Klipa all of one's actions are closer and belong to the Klipa, to the shells.
Student: What's that border? What do I have to keep in order to not to go not to the shells, to go to holiness? What's the work exactly at that point?
M. Laitman: The work on the border between Kedusha and Klipa and the shell is in more discernments of what reigns in a person and what is drawing a person to which direction. So, this force is. The mind belongs to reception or bestowal.
Student: What determines that border? According to how I determine which side? What are the preconditions that will determine that decision?
M. Laitman: There aren't much with what to decide, but we need to receive. We need to constantly try to be in a more differentiated distinguishment between Kedusha and shells. And we need to make a distinction between these two extremes, and this is how we will see how we get along.
Reader: There are more questions here. There are many questions.
Question (Latin 2): (21:10) If our path is short, why do we need to hasten our actions?
M. Laitman: We need to hasten our actions because before us there are many, there is much matter in knowledge, in our qualities, and we need to divide between all that is awakened in us, which can be for both the Klipa or Kedusha, and how we move from the shell to the Kedusha, to holiness, and how we accordingly, how we accordingly advance.
Question (Woman MAK): (23:03) How to connect between the Ten to our life and also to the big pleasure we're giving the Creator.
M. Laitman: It depends on us. It depends on us. In our attitude to what's influencing us. Whether it's bestowal or reception. As much as we choose between them. To the extent in which we want to be closer to the Kabbalists or to the Creator. These are the main discernments and distinguishments between holiness and the shell.
Reader: Let's keep going with the next excerpt, number 5, Rabash.
Reading: (24:51) 5. RABASH, Article No. 179, "Ibur [Conception] – 1"
After the sin of Adam HaRishon, the creatures are regarded as broken and dead Kelim. That is, their Kelim are only in self-reception, separated from the Life of Lives. There is only a spark in them from the Reshimot of Ohr Hozer [Reflected Light] that remained and descended in order to sustain the Kelim so that through it, they will be able to rise for the revival of the dead.
That spark is a spark of Kedusha [holiness] and is a residue of the Ohr Hozer. We must raise it, meaning receive it in order to bestow, which is called “raising,” meaning raising MAN. By this, a Masach [screen] and Aviut [thickness] are made, on which comes the filling, when the Ohr Hozer fills the Kelim to an extent that will clothe the lights (Ohr Yashar [Direct Light]).
M. Laitman: Yes.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (26:23) What does it mean that the spark of holiness entered the vessel of reception? What exactly happens in that action?
M. Laitman: Where a spark of holiness enters the vessels of reception, meaning now we have more discernments in relation to the vessels of reception which we can raise, lower, do all kinds of comparisons in them, and advance this way.
Student: But he says in the excerpt that it's only the records for now.
M. Laitman: Yes.
Student: So what makes that record, takes it out of potential into actual? What activates it?
M. Laitman: The record activates a person within which this record operates and we need to try to turn ourselves until it will be clear to us the essence of the record of the Reshimo, why it awakened, in what direction. And then, accordingly, we will know what kind of record it is, and how we can by it be more connected to Kadusha.
Student: So, the record is an impression of a connection with holiness?
M. Laitman: Yes.
Student: And when a person yearns, or tries, or performs actions to try and implement it, he gradually gets a feeling from that record?
M. Laitman: Yes, exactly.
Question (Philippines): (29:08) How can we overcome or deal with the Klipa for our spiritual development? Thank you.
M. Laitman: We need to divide between the records which attract us more to holiness and less to the shell. And this way we will determine the forces in general of holiness and of the shells. And after that, we need to simply see where we are. In relation with bestowal or reception. That's the main thing for us. The main scrutiny is in that.
Question (Salt Lake City): (30:53) What does it mean to receive the spark of holiness in order to bestow?
M. Laitman: To receive the sparks of holiness in order to bestow is considered that I try to to be with acts of bestowal connected as much as possible.
Question (Woman Latin 1): (32:06) When we work in separating between the records of holiness or the Klipot, what should we do with our egoistic desires? Should we raise them, pray to the Creator to fix them? What's the action?
M. Laitman: Differentiate between the shell and the holiness, between in order to receive and in order to bestow, and try to distance as much as possible between them.
Question (Latin 1): (32:52) Many times in the Ten, we say, friends, we have to raise MAN. But what does it actually mean? In the heart and in the mind?
M. Laitman: Because we want to come closer to holiness, to bestow, and with that, give this action more forces, more forces, and that's why the more we use this, the more we will see that we are closer to it.
Question (ITA 1): (34:44) In every spark that we receive, we have to use it, whether it's good or bad, ascribe it to the Creator in order to come closer to Him.
M. Laitman: Yes. We can use both the force of good and the force of bad. The main scrutiny between them is in what conditions we're using, whether this or that. Scrutiny and correction, that's what we have in the work with our desires. What to attribute every single desire to, and what to do with it. Okay.
Question (Latin 4): (36:41) How in the Ten can we recognize and nourish that spark of holiness in order to turn our egoistic spark into a pipeline of bestowal.
M. Laitman: As much as we can use the desires. No, no…
Reader: How in the Ten can we recognize that spark of holiness in order to make our egoistic desire to a channel of Bestow.
M. Laitman: But we already have a clear spark, yes?
Reader: Yes, and how to use it in order to make our egoistic desire to a channel of bestow. How to use the spark of holiness in us in order to make the egoistic desire to bestow.
M. Laitman: Only enter more and more into our nature and attribute what we have in us either to holiness or to the Klipa, to the shell. Okay?
Question (Woman Turkiye 5): (39:04) I feel that I’m forcing myself to work in the spiritual path. I'm not feeling pleasure from it. So what is spiritual pleasure?
M. Laitman: The spiritual pleasure is like a corporeal pleasure where there are certain actions, states which are drawn to, and those that project you from something. So accordingly, we feel what we're drawn to.
Question (New York 2): (40:08) On One hand our work is in connection. On the other hand, we have to do all kinds of scrutinies and our desires. How to combine the two?
M. Laitman: Through the scrutiny. We move from question to question, from one state to another, and that way we scrutinize more and more the…
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (41:08) I recognize the question that is repeating itself.
M. Laitman: Well, well.
Student: After we scrutinized our desires, this is holiness, this is klipa. How do you continue from here?
M. Laitman: After that, we scrutinize.
Student: We made a division?
M. Laitman: So, now there's a division and the distinction between these divisions as much as we can come close to one side and distance ourselves from the other side. Accordingly, we begin to build for ourselves the atmosphere.
Student: What is this atmosphere?
M. Laitman: It's an atmosphere in which for what… what it is that we want to come closer to and what we want to distance ourselves from.
Student: So, I create a new area after I sorted?
M. Laitman: It's not a new field. It's the same field we had, only there aren't here any… there's nothing new here.
Student: Where is the place of work, the scrutiny? What is the place where I scrutinize?
M. Laitman: Scrutiny is precisely in the middle between Kedusha and Klipa, between the holiness and the shell. And to the extent in which we want to attribute ourselves to holiness.
Student: In our action, after we scrutinize, to move away from the Klipa towards the holiness.
M. Laitman: Yes.
Student: Do I have to keep that border, that place of scrutiny, or do I go to the holiness and stay there?
M. Laitman: No, that's all according to how you scrutinize what you want. What's important to you?
Student: What's this atmosphere? Of greatness of the Creator?
M. Laitman: No, it doesn't have anything to do with the greatness of the Creator much. It's where I want to associate ourselves more to holiness. So, I am more busy in it, I feel my inner attraction to it more, until my all is drawn to it.
Student: What helps me be drawn to holiness and stay away from the Klipa?
M. Laitman: Importance.
Student: So, where is the correction here? I'm only ascribing myself, but how do I take that Klipa, the shell, and turn it into holiness? In what is the correction expressed?
M. Laitman: The correction is precisely in those forces that I associate with either holiness or the Klipa, or the shell.
Question (Petah Tikva Center): (44:39) The Klipa, the shell, naturally attracts you more, and the more you advance, it becomes even more attractive. How does the scrutiny create a situation that the holiness will draw you harder, stronger?
M. Laitman: We need to see from which direction the force comes to us, of bestowal or reception, to what extent we can attribute ourselves to one of these forces, and where here there is the border between the forces of reception and bestowal, and where we can be under this force of reception or bestowal, how we can be under this force of reception or force of bestowal, and to protect this border.
Student: So, in the scrutiny, we see that there's Klipa and holiness, there's bestowal and reception, but the reception is more attractive. How do we create a situation that the holiness will win, that it will be more attractive? Because in the end, we're the matter, we're the will to receive. It'll go to where it is more attractive, more correct.
M. Laitman: Yes?
Student: So, how to create a state that holiness will always be stronger?
M. Laitman: Always, for holiness to be more powerful? Then we want to do the scrutiny. Our scrutiny is done, especially where we pray, where we pray for which side to associate ourselves with.
Student: So, you have to be constantly in prayer that the holiness will be stronger.
M. Laitman: Yes, that's the main thing.
Question (Woman Moscow 8): (47:56) Can we say that in the Ten, the force of holiness always works on me?
M. Laitman: It depends on how you depict it to yourself, how you bring yourself closer to him. And whether you think that in this part of the Kli a certain attraction draws you on His behalf. And then, yes.
Question (Woman Europe): (48:45) How can a Ten organize itself to detect whether it is in a state of reception so that it can shift to Kedusha, holiness?
Reader: How can a Ten organize itself and recognize whether they're in a state of reception or holiness, to go into holiness?
M. Laitman: I think it is worthwhile for us to depict to ourselves that we are most of the time and with most of our forces on the side of bestowal. And then we will feel how close we are to it or not.
Question (Woman Turkiye 8): (50:21) Can the screen completely annul pleasure?
M. Laitman: Does the screen, can the screen cancel the taste of pleasure? It's a complex question, but gradually, when we scrutinize this question, we understand better that the scrutiny happens more in… it's more of a scrutiny for women than men. And that's how we advance.
Question (Haifa 1): (51:48) If I could ask about the Tens, we learned that Rabash used to say Ten and not nine. Ten and not eleven. I'm asking about, there are some Tens that are very small and there are some Tens that are a lot more than Ten. So should we be sensitive to the other Tens too?
M. Laitman: No.
Student: So if there's a Ten with 15 people, and then there's a Ten with five people and that's okay?
M. Laitman: That's not okay. It would be preferable for there to be Ten and not less, yes. And even for it to be closer to Ten, always.
Question (Woman Rehovot 1): (53:13) What is the role of the Klipot, the shells, in our development?
M. Laitman: In order to scrutinize for us what good and evil are.
Student: I heard that you said that in group work, it's good if we divide everything according to holiness and Klipot, and then we can see how to use the holiness. How can a Ten practically scrutinize between Klipot and holiness? How do we do it? Or is it something we don't talk about? How is it done?
M. Laitman: That it's only by using reception or giving from several sides each time, moving ourselves from one side to the other, like that, then gradually, we gradually advance to holiness.
Question (MAK 11): (55:10) Are we even in a state that we can do the scrutiny between holiness and the Klipa? Or is it our entire work just to draw the Creator into the work of the scrutiny?
M. Laitman: We always need to draw the Creator. Otherwise, we won't feel correctly where we are. We won't correctly feel towards what we are aimed, what bestows upon us, and so on, meaning without the force of the Creator that will protect our forces and show us what's better and what's bad, how to divide the vessels from one another, to distinguish them, without that, without this scrutiny, we won't be able, we won't succeed in any way. We won't manage to scrutinize for ourselves who we are, what we're made of, and what we want to reach.
Question (Woman Heb 1): (56:42) If I recognize that I'm in pleasure from reception, what's the action that I should do in order to overcome it?
M. Laitman: You need to try and rise above this scrutiny of reception and bestowal, to arrange yourself in the form of bestowal as much as possible, and then move to vessels of bestowal and remain in them as much as possible.
Reader: So, we have to end the lesson.
M. Laitman: We need to end the lesson, yes.
Reader: So, to say thank you for this wonderful lesson, another special lesson, now we're going to summarize in the Tens and then read the Zohar, please.
