Yom Kippur - The Day of Atonement - Selected Excerpts from the Sources 2021

1.Rav’s Introduction: We know that all the festive days that we have around the year, all speak about man's spiritual ascent, if he works at the right pace than year by year, day by day he is climbing the ladder of degrees until he comes to the complete adhesion with the Creator. In between all those special dates whereby he rises above his ego called the ‘Exodus from Egypt’ when he reaches the force of bestow which is called Shavuot. When he sees he can't do it and he breaks it's called the 9th of Av and then he enters a decision where he must start his life anew with a new attitude towards the Creator, this is called Rosh Hashanah, the beginning of the year. The important part of that is this inner calculation, how he enters a new period, where several times during a man's life he wants to change his life and seemingly start anew. This is the symbol of Yom Kippur, the day of Atonement. Why is it called the day of atonement, because it's one of the days a man has to go through to reach his identification with the Creator, equivalence of form with the Creator, it is the day that is called the ‘Day of Atonement’. Coming from the word Kaparot, (atonement) it's when a person asks forgiveness before the Creator, when he checks himself and he sees how many times the Creator gave him an opportunity to correct himself and to reach adhesion with the Creator and he ignored it he disregarded it he couldn't overcome himself. Now he is seeing it, in his scrutiny, in his personal criticism and after he checks himself. He starts to do it about a month before the day of Atonement, and he begins to see just how much he is in those desires in receiving in order to receive and he didn't want to use them in order to correct them and come closer to the Creator.

He's asking for forgiveness on that, where he understands that he was powerless and had no way at that time to overcome and to ask. Because our corrections that are all about asking the Creator and the force that corrects comes to us and the correction is taking place. It turns out that our sin is all about not asking and we have to ask on that and ask on the fact that we are not asking. That the Creator will forgive us that we did not turn to Him and ask Him to correct us.

The Creator created the ego but man must recognize that his ego is the ultimate and the only evil that exists in a man through this bad through his ego he's able to look at the whole world to and the world appears bad to him. Accordingly, he relates to the Creator deliberately or not but this is how he relates to the Creator. Since this entire picture seemingly comes from the Creator this entire world so it turns out that he condemns the Creator, He sentenced him to judgment for creating the world and himself as bad and he's not aware at that moment that the Creator gave him his ego to see himself through his ego so the person would ask the Creator to correct it to replace his ego is evil inclination with the good inclination. The bad desire with a good desire. in this way we need to see our work. We have nothing else besides that only one thing to do is to recognize the evil in us, that the Creator gave it to us on purpose so that through the recognition of evil we will turn to Him and ask Him to replace this bad this weakness. That we have to do something good, that we're not able to do it as much as we try, so in place of that to understand that all we have to do is to ask Him to turn it in to the good because we don't have any good forces we will never have any only after we ask Him we will receive them and be able to feel and see the whole world through the good desire and the world will appear to us truly as heaven.

Our entire work is to locate the bad and the reason why we see the bad and why are we so weak and then turn to the Creator to turn the bad into good, this work is what the Creator does, this is called the work of the Creator. A request for the Creator to do it is called the day of forgiveness. The day of Atonement, Yom Kippur. Turns out that it's not a day of sorrow but a day of joy, because we judge ourselves and we see that from everything that we are in, all we have to do is ask the Creator to turn the evil inclination He created in us into a good inclination, so we have someone to turn to, we have what to ask for, and it all depends on our request. All of our past where we saw ourselves as weak, incapable, confused, little and surrendering relative to our nature that is ruling us various instances the Creator did that on purpose to show us our weakness, so we would finally want to rid ourselves of the will to receive and to turn it to in order to bestow.

This is the main point of the day of Atonement and we are asking the Creator to take our evil desire, our egoistic desire and turn it for us into a good desire, love, altruistic love, then we rise from a deep pit, the deep hole to hire up, to a tall mountain. That's what the day of Atonement symbolizes. It is a very special day in the year where we only think for 24 hours, on how can we ask for all of our weaknesses everything we have done with our evil inclination that the Creator gave us, it is not us, the Creator gave us, and after saying that He gave it to us we have a turning point where we can turn to Him and ask in place of that for Him to give us the good force. Then we will have good forces according to what we ask of Him, we will climb the ladder of degrees until the end of correction. Meaning in general our work is not only during the day of Atonement that we have once a year according to the calendar, but instead we are doing it each and every one of us and to get it together as much as possible, we turn to the Creator we ask of Him to turn the bad inclination into the good inclination and to the extent we can ask and demand, so we resemble Him and reach the complete adhesion the end of correction. That is what we need to be thinking. about and try to do for the coming 24 hours.

2. S. (12:10) Why should we ask forgiveness since we are powerless without the power of the Creator?

R. Yes of course the Creator did everything and He says I created the evil inclination but once we recognize the evil inclination in us and recognize that it is evil in that we want to overcome it, to make something that resembles the Creator out of something good and we see that we cannot ask and we don't want to ask. We have no way of coming out of the evil inclination this is our work to ask. The fact that the Creator created the bad he did it and he gave it validity, such validity that we cannot overcome it, yes, it's true it's all from Him but it is up to us to ask because he gave us a little bit of understanding a tiny candle by which we can see the darkness in our world. Thanks to the light He shines in us through the tiny candle and then we ask, give us the ability to reach the other desire, the good desire and do it for us. We are not asking and also those who asked He sees how this disappears, fades away in him and he doesn't do it consistently, until like a little child who nags and wants and wants and you can't get rid of him you eventually do what he wants. We have to learn this from kids, we are the same. In this work relative to the Creator, we are still babies and we have to demand and nag Him, demand of Him according to the example he gives us in the corporeal world until we receive what we need.

S. We're asking forgiveness because we are not asking enough?

R. We ask for forgiveness on that as well we ask to reach the good inclination so the Creator will do it and we are asking for the good inclination in the future, but in the past, we are asking for forgiveness because we didn't demand enough. All those instances where we discover we're immersed in the bad and we don’t care about coming out of it, let it be so, such points of weakness that appear in us several times a day.

3. S. (15:32) How is the prayer on the day of Atonement is different than regular days?

R. In a sense there is no change between the prayer of the day of Atonement and our regular prayers but here we emphasize that we have to ask. Because we disregarded and we ignored our opportunities for asking for help for correction that we had in the past, but we didn't ask. Now we wish to concentrate all these opportunities that we had and we didn't use and ask for everything together, understand us, understand that we are weak and forgive us. That we didn't reach all the way to you with our demand for you to correct us and now we are coming to you and with all of our requests total from the past and we are asking for corrections. This is the essence of this plea to the Creator called the day of Atonement. We asked to atone, atonement means that I understand I misbehaved and I am asking for forgiveness.

S. Now after the lesson there is the prayer that we write, should we use it in these words, forgive us, etcetera?

R. Yes you can do that too, also from the story we will read these verses and you will understand actually you'll have more words, more discernments what we wish to express.

4. S. (17:53) Why do we not want to ask? We realize there is a need, it is like kids asking their parents?

R. We also have to ask, I didn't understand the question.

S. You said the whole problem is that we don't want to ask, why do we not want to ask?

R. Yes this is done on purpose by the Creator. We can't ask from Him, we can’t turn to Him but only to the extent that we recognize and acknowledge that we have someone to turn to that we feel that He is great. I don't want to turn to the Creator because I cannot feel, I don't have in me this image of the Creator as the bestower, the giver the source of my life, that I depend on Him. That is done on purpose so that I would make His image great. I would want to acknowledge Him and recognize Him and know Him and to that extent, I will be drawn to Him. A little child feels that he is 100% dependent on his parents, he has nowhere to run to, he has nothing to do, he is holding on to them all the time. But we are lacking that sensation, we need to reach such a state, this is called adhesion and then I am becoming a small child by that but I am doing it through my ego above it. It turns out that relative to my ego I need to make the Creator greater than my ego each time. The ego grows on the left line and I am making the Creator important in my eyes on the right line. I climb through these two lines in the middle line between them, meaning the fact that I cannot turn to the Creator like a small child because I do not feel him, this obligates me to build the image of the Creator. As something that is entirely for me my whole life, I have no other power, no image, no other address to which I am connected and on which I am dependent.

5. S. (20:44) You said we have to ask, I understand that in my mind but how do we come to honesty and purity in that request? I feel it doesn't come from honesty and doesn't fit with what you're saying?

R. That's a result of lack of faith, lack of feeling of the Creator and the moment you feel the Creator as the upper force that arranges your entire life, you wouldn't ask who to turn to, how to turn to this is simply lack of faith. Lack of the sensation of the Creator and you have to ask on that. Ask for the force of faith, the force of Bina will be revealed to you and according to these forces you will feel you will be able to turn to Him from the bottom of your desire.

6. S. (21:54) The moment we work in the 10 friends go through different states both ascents and descents but in the spiritual work you say there is no descent, so when the friend feels a descent and he doesn't want to work and connect, that is what I should ask for, pray for?

R. First of all, in the spiritual work we have ascents and descents, I don't know where you're taking this idea that there aren't but these descents we wish to turn into ascents as well and climb.

7. S. (22:55) The ego grows and each time we have to make another request, first it seems simple but why is it difficult to ask anew each time?

R. Because you need to gradually overcome the ego that opens up in you and more and more and that's how a lot of degrees work until the end of correction. They are showing you the evil in you more and more and you need to climb it also higher that's how we climb, left right, left right, left is the coarseness, right is the screen on top of the coarseness and that's how you climb.

8. S. (24:06) I didn't understand why we have to ask like a kid and nag, why can't you just ask once in the work?

R. You can't ask one time for the entire Malchut of Ein Sof that used to be in adhesion with the Creator and the Creator shattered it on purpose and these parts of the Malchut exist in every one of us and you can't ask for this entire will to receive you lack the strength. Specifically in such a way the small parts you can overcome and ask for those.

9. S. (25:07) What is the best way to come to a prayer of the evil inclination?

R. As much as you try to turn it to good to be above it opposite to it you will come to know it better, how evil it actually is.

10. S. (25:47) Since we have to ask for forgiveness every year on this day and throughout the year does that mean that our prayer is not sincere?

R. We have signs throughout the year. We will learn about it once we read about lacks and more information about what is earth, and what is space in our revolutions around our axis, and the moon around us that was added later around the earth, and how we revolve all the planets around the sun, and what is the year, and what is a day, and all those things and those times that stem from these states, these relationships between the sun and all these parts, all these chunks that revolve around it. We can't learn about it now, but we will learn about it eventually and we'll see where it is coming from and why it is made this way. You'll see in the formulas of Kabbalah about why things worked out the way they did and why things were created and made. We need to just accept it for the time being. What I have to do in my inner world is the important thing for us. That's our purpose.

S. How can we change our prayer to become a more sincere prayer?

R. Can you change your desire through your prayer? I'm asking. After you pray do you feel that you have changed and you can now relate to the world and to people into friends differently? Or is it only for a moment when you were impressed by the prayer and then it disappears?

Excerpt 1 (29:25) Twice

11. R. (29:59) To believe in the Creator means to feel that the Creator exists and he rules over all of reality, that's the meaning of believing in the Creator. It's a little different than the concept of belief that people typically have.

Reader continues (30:18)

R. Look what he is saying. What is faith? It is a personal feeling, a perception, that the Creator exists and He rules.

Reader continues (31:14)

R. They just believe without feeling that the Creator is present and is dominating and directing a person.

Reader continues (31:31)

R. He should feel it. You see how he constantly emphasizes this idea that we have to feel and if our prayers do not end with a changed feeling, we haven't obtained any connection with the Creator.

Reader continues (32:16)

R. He accepts it. He doesn't see, understand, or know but he accepts this form, that the Creator, the force that arranges him, that works on him, is there but he’s in concealment. He cannot feel or understand it. He can only bestow to Him through this request, the prayer.

Reader continues (33:20)

R. The feeling of the Creator.

Reader continues (33:36)

R. Since, of course, we would never sin if we could feel the Creator and clearly, we would do everything naturally, just as Rabash says elsewhere that he who knows that he is taking something bad, feels it in his hand and in his mouth. Everything good and bad would be apparent and the scrutiny would be simple. We would focus only on the good and we would feel it immediately. The fact is that the good and the bad are concealed and we need to scrutinize where the good is and where the bad is.

Reader continues (34:32)

R. Then when a person feels the Creator over each action, thought, and desire, then certainly this will protect him from making any mistakes because he sees the truth. The truth obligates him to do only the good things, only the correct things. This is called the correction of the flaw of the tree of knowledge.

Excerpt 2 (36:00)

12. S. (38:04) Is the definition of good or bad determined in the ten?

R. Mainly in the ten, but in truth, throughout all the different relationships between a person and reality, the Creator, but it is the clearest in the ten, right before our eyes.

13. S. (38:51) Should we continue praying until the feeling comes if the prayer doesn’t end in feeling?

R. The prayer takes place throughout the entire path until the end of correction. Only prayer can correct us and bring us to the end of correction. Everything that we have to do is how to establish and arrange our prayer, our plea, our demand to the Creator in the most efficient way.

14. S. (39:47) We constantly talk about raising Malchut to Bina. Why does the article say that we should draw near to Zeir Anpin?

R. From the point of view of the action when we wish to rise to Bina, we rise to Zeir Anpin because all the Sefirot of Zeir Anpin are the combination of the force of reception and the force of bestowal. Bina is the totality of the force of bestowal, Malchut is the totality of reception, and Zeir Anpin is the one that includes both, the mix between the force of reception and the force of bestowal in different relationships. When we raise ourselves from Malchut to Bina we are going through these various shapes where the qualities of the receiver combine with the qualities of the bestower in the degrees of Zeir Anpin until we reach the degree of Bina.

S. Do we scrutinize this after we attain Bina? We never speak about raising ourselves to Zeir Anpin.

R. No. We raise ourselves relative to Bina but the degrees that we climb are the degrees of Zeir Anpin. That's how it's happening in practice. We cannot connect Malchut to Bina because there is disparity of form here. When we are starting to acquire these new qualities that are mixed between Malchut and Bina and all the forms of merging of the two, then you say that you are climbing the degrees of Zeir Anpin until Bina.

S. Have we actually built the screen in this transition from Malchut to Bina where we are never in Bina but we are in faith above reason towards Bina.

R. We are in faith above reason precisely when we are in Zeir Anpin on the way up to Bina. There is the force of Bina and the force of reason and we are always trying to be in faith above reason so the force of Bina will always be greater than the force of Malchut. We climb according to these degrees, these relationships. Zeir Anpin is called Kudsha Brich Hu, meaning these are names of the Creator that we attain, equalizing the qualities of Bina towards Malchut which is Zeir Anpin. Slowly we will learn everything in its place, not all at once.

15. S. (43:53) What does it mean that he will not need the general public and can feel it personally?

R. The group is not the collective, the group is my individual. When I incorporate in it, I begin to reveal the Creator only in my tight connection with the friends, to the extent of my adhesion. It has nothing to do with the general collective. The collective is what is outside of the ten.

S. So what is personal? The ten as one body?

R. Of course. You're only asking about it now?

S. It wasn't clear from the excerpt.

R. That's your own calculation.

Excerpt 3 (45:01)

16. R. (45:21) This is what we're asking for. Only forgiveness that we didn't ask the Creator enough to help us, to correct us, to make what is ever needed out of us. We didn't annul ourselves towards Him and we didn't ask Him to do with us as clay in the hands of the maker.

Reader continues (45:45)

17. S. (46:36) Is the sin in not asking for the true lack to bestow to the friends and the Creator?

R. Yes, there's nothing else. There is nothing else to ask. We ask to be connected together with the ten so that from the ten will be able to turn to the Creator and come close to Him, to be glued and cleaved to Him. There's nothing more than that.

18. S. (47:37) If the request doesn't end with a change of feeling, then the question is what kind of feeling?

R. That we have done everything in our request and we are certain what's going to happen and that the Creator is going to answer us. That's how Kabbalists write. We will learn how you should feel before the prayer, during the prayer, and after the prayer.

19. S. (48:24) Is it possible to make a request to the Creator constantly when we are connected in the ten?

R. The simple formula is that we have to constantly try to see how we can approach the Creator through the friends. From the love of friends to the love of the Creator. You constantly come to Him this way for each and every thing that is revealed around you, in you, or around your external conditions. In short, Israel, the light, and the Creator. Israel is you, Yashar-El; Orayta is the light that appears in the ten; and Kudhsa Brich Hu is the Creator. You have to do it, you have to make it as one. This is what you're trying to do. The important part of this doing is in the prayer, in the request, for the Creator to help you to be in it.

S. Is the request that we have to make is requesting that all the friends are together?

R. Not physically, but internally when you feel that you are together, each one within his own ego. You want to rise above your ego in order to be directed at the Creator, aimed at Him. I lack some words here, is clear the words cannot open up this state but try.

20. S. (51:06) The Creator created our evil inclination, so why do we need to ask for forgiveness and not the other way around?

R. We're not asking for forgiveness for the evil inclination. The Creator created the evil inclination on purpose. We're asking for forgiveness because we did not ask to turn it to the good inclination from within the evil inclination. The evil inclination is an angel who helps us yearn to cleave to the Creator and without it we would not be able to identify anything. Our ego is aiming us directly at the Creator. That's why we are not saying that the evil inclination is bad. It is only bad because we cannot combine it with the right direction. Thanks to the help of the evil inclination, we come to adhesion with the Creator. Without that force of resistance, we wouldn't be able to detect that we are in adhesion with the Creator. We, as created beings, must always include both discernments. Darkness and light have to be there because without one we cannot feel the other.

The Creator deliberately created the evil inclination so that by acquiring this evil inclination in its entirety we can also feel Him as the good inclination and we can exist between the two. We would not be able to identify Him only through the good inclination. The created being feels the Creator existing in the seam between these two opposite qualities, in all kinds of feelings, discernments, and understandings. It is always between two opposing qualities. That's where we feel the discernments that we exist, that we understand and we feel. You cannot have any feeling unless it's included in both darkness and light, good and bad.

S. When I come to recognition of evil, what prevents my ego from asking for help?

R. The Creator created an opposite desire, a quality opposite to His qualities, that gives the creature the ability to exist between these two qualities since then he can distinguish one from the other. We call the relationships between these two qualities the good inclination and the bad inclination but it's not important as long as we have the ability to reach those discernment and we exist between the two. Our work is to turn the negative, repulsive discernment, which is opposite the Creator, into a positive discernment. This is called ‘darkness will shine as light’. The evil inclination will also eventually function as the good inclination because it is helping us. It increases our good inclination because we have to overcome the bad inclination. We acquire the good inclination with greater vigor, we turn the bad into good. This is the work of the spiritual Partzuf. Through the coarseness and the screen that it has, he turns himself into a screen and reflected light and by that he increases, he grows, and develops. The Creator exists. He awakens Him and reveals Him to everyone from within the darkness, through this reflected light. This is how we work.

21. S. (57:12) What should we do that our common prayer to bestow to the ten is more effective than the previous request?

R. Only to try work on how you wish to reach the one-goal together, this will connect you more and will give you a closer status, a closer stature to one another only by understanding that you have to reach the Creator together. Otherwise, you cannot detect and you cannot approach him, we can approach the Creator when we approach one another. The 10, the group becomes more crystallized, if you will, and by that it approaches the Creator and by that it approaches the Creator, there's no corporeal distance only connection between the friends and to that extent we approach the Creator.

22. S. (58:37) Help us in that when I pray and ask to place the evil inclination to the good inclination, there is this deep prayer but when I hear that the evil inclination comes from the Creator, it weakens my responsibility and the intensiveness of the prayer declines, what do you do?

R. Only persistence can help us here. When I understand more and more that the attainment of the Creator is found in growing the connection between us.

23. S. (59:33) You kind of answered the question, you said there are different levels of prayer, how do we categorize these prayers?

R. We're not working with that for now, ask about what we are reading right now, it's a bit more correct, otherwise we won't go through all the verses.

24. S. (01:00:13) In my work I see that any negative I'm already professionally transforming it to good but when I start to work, I forget about the work and the evil or the bad is erased, so how do you maintain the spiritual work?

R. This will come to you gradually and you'll see that both the evil in the good are in you and you have to work with them in such a way that you choose it and to have him arrange different relationships within you.

Excerpt 4 (01:01:03) Twice

Excerpt 6 (01:03:27) Twice

25. S. (01:06:10) How to transform the opposites of good and bad to a whole between us, within us?

R. We don't learn about it, how to do it within life, meaning in life it's important for us to learn how to pray to the Creator to help us and constantly be aimed to Him with the right request, we can change things in our life as you're asking and we can change everything through the prayer.

26. S. (01:06:55) Can we say that the true sin of the person is with regards to the environment that he didn't ask enough for the friends, for them?

R. That he did not pray to the Creator enough to correct him. Now in this prayer to correct him there are additions, how to correct it, with what, the connection with the friends and so on and so forth. This is true but the main thing is to be aimed through the Creator, to the Creator and accordingly to strengthen our prayer to him using various means.

S. I'm asking because basically man’s choice where he can go wrong or not is how much he strengthens his environment, his 10, so that's the only place to make a sin also if he doesn't ask of the Creator this strengthening?

R. Correct.

27. S. (01:08:09) We're not asking because we lack the greatness and importance of the Creator? If the creation of the evil inclination, what you said, the advantage of light out of darkness, does that go to greatness and importance of the Creator?

R. Yes, everything fits in there.

S. Is it important for us to understand the importance of creating the evil inclination, the creation of it itself, to get to this greatness and importance?

R. It's all included in it, I said so already, everything is included in that. The main thing is how do we turn to the Creator in order to obligate him to help us.

28. S. (01:09:06) The text talks about the public domain and the authority of the one, what is the public domain?

R. The public domain, the domain of the public, many desires and they're not aimed at one goal.

29. S. (01:09:55) Do we have to be in a state of desperation to believe that the Creator will help?

R. Let's try to be in despair all the time and together with that to be in joy because it helps us turn to the Creator and ask for his help. It should be useful, this kind of despair, where we don't lose our strength, our hope, our goal on the contrary it is to spare from our own strength that together with that confidence that the Creator is the savior and he helps.

30. S. (01:10:53) In this world sin connects to punishment, if there was an opportunity for a correction and a person did not overcome and ask, what would be the punishment on our path?

R. There was an opportunity to correct and a person did not overcome to prayer, so he doesn't ascend on the degrees and even descends, if he has where to descend to. We don't feel those ascents and descents because for now we're not in it. We are not in such states that was revealed to us as an ascent or descent so that's why we don't feel those movements. But we're in those fluctuations every time, in those ups and downs.

S. There's a difference between the same towards the friends and towards the Creator?

R. A sin towards the friend is something that remains, it remains until you correct it, a sin towards the Creator is much easier.

31. S. (01:12:15) Why are there 10 days of repentance?

R. That comes against the 10 Sefirot.

Excerpt 7 (01:12:32)

32. R. (01:14:14) So the main thing for us is to make sure or to be concerned that we constantly have faith that is what we are asking for, faith is the force when we feel the Creator, that we want Him to live in us, to clothe us and then by clothing in us for sure we will have the forces to sustain ourselves in the right line. We will be incorporated with the evil inclination and the good inclination and with both of them will know what to do with them and advance in the middle line. Without that we are in darkness, blind and we have no way to think that there is any possibility to do anything without mistakes.

Excerpt 7 (01:15:23) second reading

33. R. (01:16:06) Meaning, feeling the Creator permanently in the person that is something one is not drawn to and specifically by this all of our success depends on it.

Reader continues: (01:16:23) “... only if he has partial faith, he settles for it...”

34. S. (01:17:25) When the reader reads the text it is written in the corner that we have 10 days before the Congress and if we follow the text there's 10 days of repentance beginning from today, we need to direct ourselves to correct ourselves in the right direction, is this right?

R. That is what we are trying to do. Correct.

Excerpt 8 (01:18:08) twice

35. R. (01:21:05) Man starts seeing that the flaw is not being an egoist, being evil, the Creator did this, the flaw is not asking, not demanding, like Rabash used to tell me, why didn't you ask. You had someone to turn to, you had someone to receive from, to receive forces, corrections, discernments, why didn't you ask? Man has no more, there is no other complaint towards man, only to remind them why you are not asking. We are like children, babies we must constantly ask, demand, that is why it is written, I wish they prayed all day and by that we have to remind each other and each one help each other, only about praying, that it will not let go of us.

36. S. (01:22:31) How to get permanent faith?

R. How to get permanent faith that does not depend on us so much but that is more from above, if we ascend to the degree of being a constant connection with Bina, that is called that we are in the constant prayer. In a certain measure of bestowing, a certain request, it all depends on how we connect ourselves to the force of Bina.

37. S. (01:23:20) Please help me solve a contradiction, in the previous excerpt it was said that we must request permanent faith and, in this excerpt, it says that we must request partial work?

R. I do not understand what exactly you were asking about but permanent faithful faith is when Malchut attains Bina and Hochma and Hochma shines into Bina, and that is something very exalted and huge, it is only something that comes in Gmar Tikkun. We for now have to now ask for the correction forgiveness for all the sins, for all the times that we did not ask for the Creator for the corrections and the sin is when a person doesn't ask and that is why he cannot beat his evil inclination and against the evil inclination stands the Creator and he is willing to supply us with all the forces that we need to beat to defeat the evil inclination and that is what we are asking for.

S. But in this excerpt, it says that we need to work in small measures, gradually to pass from ZA to Bina?

R Yes.

38. S. (01:25:19) In order to reach a complete prayer can we ask for the feeling of the Creator?

R. Of course, everything on the path to correction you can ask and you must ask, where else can you get it if not from Him?

39. S. (01:26:05) If I understand correctly the prayer is dependent on the state a person is going through, where we altogether are going through different states, so how to reach a mutual prayer?

R. How do you know what states you and your friend are going through, we need on all these questions and states, we just need to help with the Creator that he connects us, we are just opposite to each other. We need to ask of the Creator to connect us that's as much as we are in the connection between us, obviously we are different and we are going to reach a state that we will be even more different from one another, we will discover how much we are opposite to one another, but in connecting these opposites between us, by that we will resemble the Creator. Not in our qualities but in how we can overcome our qualities towards him.

40. S. (01:27:33) We requested forgiveness from the Creator and that we didn't ask but what should I ask forgiveness from my friends, what is forgiveness between man and his friends?

R. Between man and his friends is that we disregard our abilities to connect between us that we can help one another and that prayer also is actually also towards the Creator, the fact that I did not do enough to connect all the friends together.

Excerpt 9 (01:28:26)

41. R. (01:29:51) Meaning we have one problem here, what he says, Rabash, we need to ask for forgiveness for our sins for each one by not asking the needed help from the Creator that is one thing. The second thing is the main thing was that the person didn't ask from the Creator to defeat the evil, that is what he is asking forgiveness about. Meaning the whole matter of the forgiveness the requests we have. It's all about how we disregarded the plea towards the Creator, we didn't understand how he wants each of us to turn to him and demanding from him the help, that only after what we receive from him then we can advance and we disregarded it so much that we thought we could advance by ourselves. That we have the forces that we understand something no, man needs to constantly be in the prayer that the Creator will give him the mind and the heart. Meaning the force of the intellect and the force to perform all that is needed and demanded things and that it is clear to us that he gets it from the Creator. Then with that along with the Creator, supposedly he can go and perform this and we are asking for forgiveness that one thought that he himself could do something, see, discern and do. That is actually our descent, the lack of our success and that is what we need to ask for forgiveness for.

Excerpt 9 (01:31:57) second reading

42. S. (01:33:14) In the beginning of the lesson you said that Yom Kippur is translated as a sacrifice, this evil inclination is from the Creator.

R. The fact that I take my ego and I want to slaughter it because in a form that it is in, it is evil and I want to turn it to good and that is called that I am giving an offer, that I with the ego turn it to good I come close to the Creator. Corban comes from the word closeness, that is what we do. There is that term the Arabs also have the holiday of the offering.

43. S. (01:34:51) Even the whole prayer is dependent on faith and faith is dependent on the Creator so instead of having a prayer that he's not raising, meaning that not the opportunities that he has to pray but the opposite, the time that he constantly needs to raise prayer, for that he needs to feel sorry?

R. Man needs to understand that everything he wants to do with himself in the world, it has to be through a plea towards the Creator then he will get forces from the Creator, discernments, guidance what to do.

S. But I understand that a complete prayer is not dependent on man, it depends only on the Creator if you need faith in order to pray?

R. The Creator sets up a person in such a way that the person gradually learns more and more how to turn to the Creator.

S. So it depends on man to constantly turn to the Creator?

R. Also.

44. S. (01:36:14) What is the depth that I need to request of the Creator any action that I want to do?

R. Until you do not do anything before you don’t do anything until you turn to the Creator that constantly he will be the Lord your God in your mind and after that you will follow.

S. On every action?

R. On every action, on every thought and every decision.

S. How important are the words when I turn to the Creator when I pray?

R. It does not matter, it's the thought, everything will be clarified in a thought.

45. S. (01:37:22) It has to be mixed up to turn to the Creator. In the excerpt it talks about turning to the Creator that we didn't turn to the Creator, we need to ask for penance, sounds like man’s work towards the Creator.

R. All of our work is before the Creator in order to turn to him, we need the whole world, the ten and everything but all in all the Creator is our purpose.

S. I need to ask penance for this that I didn't turn through the friends?

R. If you want to say that, say it but it is the matter of how much you feel these things and you turn to him in order to correct it from here onward, your qualities and the Creator shows you exactly what you are lacking. He is revealing to you gradually all the evil that he created in you that he himself created in you.

46. S. (01:38:49) What is the place of gratitude on this day of Yom Kippur?

R. Gratitude has to be inside, in our requests, in our forgiveness, that we have someone to turn to, that we have what we ask for, that we have a listening ear that hears and answers, that is our plea. The fact that we have someone to turn to and he is expecting, waiting for our plea.

S. Okay, we need to stabilize, perform this internally?

R. It has to be as a posterior of the request, if I don't have such a thing then how I can ask, who am I turning to.

47. S. (01:40:00) The ego is the dearest thing that we have and the Creator is demanding the sacrifice, it is like Isaac's sacrifice?

R. We will talk about it later but actually you are right. I recommend that we concentrate on the excerpts and not the way they are interpreted in the Torah and all kinds of things, obviously that is what it is talking about, but it is better if we go with the words we are studying now. By this you are taking your friends away from what we are speaking about and to some side story.

48. S. (01:41:02) According to the excerpt it is understood that the main part of the sin is not that we didn't request but that we didn't believe that the Creator will go help and it says that we constantly need to feel the Creator in every thought and action, so how do we feel that?

R. Man himself can't, if the entire group is thinking even a bit of this problem that they have to come close to the Creator and ask him and convince him to help, then it will work.

49. S. (01:41:56) Requests on the level of ZA?

R. No, I am not talking that way, that is not what we are starting now and is not worth talking in that direction. Learn in this framework you want to rewrite everything that is convenient for you and that is where you are mistaken.

50. S. (01:42:32) Do I need to really request repentance or is this just something that I didn't ask correctly and I need to turn to him?

R. No, man really needs to understand where he is before then asking for every detail in his life, in the group, towards the Creator on the spiritual life and all including all details, that he did he didn't ask for the Creator. That is really a problem that he has and he is regretting that because if he would ask, he would supposedly advance much more and that is sin, the sin is not by not asking, why didn't you ask.

51. S. (01:43:42) The definition of a crime is that I didn't request to receive a vessel?

R. Yes, when you feel or regret that you didn't ask and you really succeed with the Creator, that helps do the work on your mistake and to succeed. Always we are advancing in the way that we feel that we lost something that was a sin and upon that we can advance. Meaning not our evil inclination is the evil, but not asking from the Creator to correct the evil inclination, that is the evil and that is what we need to ascribe to us. The fact that the Creator created evil, let him fix it, that is what we think, he will do it. But when I was asking or did, I didn't ask, that is my work and that is the flaw that we must locate and correct, that is why we are not correcting the evil inclination but are disregarding of the possibilities to turn to the Creator and ask him to correct the evil because that is upon us to do.

52. S. (01:45:30) Yesterday you spoke about these kinds of prayers, where a child whistles or something and that is a prayer. I'm a grown man with many responsibilities and I feel very stupid to always act like a baby, help me, help me, help me, help me, help the friends. When you say to act like a baby, do you really mean to constantly nag the Creator like that?

R. I wish that is something huge, if you will be able to turn to the Creator like a baby turns to his parents because a baby feels towards his parents that he is 100% dependent on them on one hand, on the other hand that he can demand from them. Third, that they have to answer him and he asks for it strongly and he does not let go and he does not leave them alone. If we would, in such a way, relate to the Creator like babies we would succeed greatly, our problem is that our ego gives us importance like we feel big, that we understand that we are great, we are lazy and that is the problem, learn from babies and you will succeed.

53. S. (01:47:14) Suddenly it is not clear who are we requesting repentance from?

R. We are asking for forgiveness for not asking from the Creator to correct our evil inclination. The Creator created the evil inclination He put it in man and He is giving man the awareness that the evil inclination is evil, not just an inclination but it is evil and a person according to that, needs to turn to the Creator and ask the Creator to turn that evil inclination into the good inclination and in that there are two things. Man is obligated to connect to the Creator and to ask from Him to get help from Him, to see how he corrects him and how by this, he becomes similar to the Creator he becomes a man and actually by that everything ends there until a person corrects himself entirely to resemble the Creator.

S. What is this turn to the Creator, the upper one if we are talking within the 10 and also the Creator within the 10 who am I requesting from?

R. The Creator is the general force that organizes and fills everything and I turn to Him to organize the relationships between us in the right way. All in all, we do not need to do anything but constantly turn to the Creator and constantly demand of Him because by this we ascend from one degree to the next but on every degree, we ascend like babies and we are turning to the Creator in such a way we do not have any problem, we can do it each and every one.

54. S. (01:49:52) How to make the correct calculation before requesting forgiveness?

R. You don’t need anything, just in general you can't remember every minute now, you also do not understand and you didn't understand that you went through these things, you didn't ask all the time, from now you are asking the Creator to help you. See as much as you are opposite, as much as you didn't ask, as much as against that the Creator does want to help you and would want to help you but you disregard that. All of the forgiveness that we are asking for is that we didn't ask for help from the Creator ourselves and even if we got help from Him, we disregarded it, we rejected it, that is what we remained in the evil inclination.

55. S. (01:51:05) Are there two types of prayers here, one for forgiveness and then request to correct the evil inclination or can we just request correction right away?

R. You can divide into a few kinds you're right but it is not important to us the main thing is to be in the plea towards the Creator and in a request.

Excerpt 10 (01:51:44)

Excerpt 11 (01:52:13)

56. R. (01:54:25) Now we will continue, we need to understand that despite that we have all sorts of unique days during the year but they are all annulled before this day called Yom Kippur. That in sum total all the holidays and all unique dates although they all speak in different manners and they are seemingly different, they are really we have only one thing from this, that from each holiday each form, we have to make from the egoistic form that is revealed into an altruistic form. The goal of each and every holiday and besides every day and every hour, it is to the direction towards Love your Neighbor as Yourself which is the big rule of the Torah meaning the final goal must be expressed in this. As much as we will have Love thy neighbor as Thyself in the tens, we will feel how much the Creator is revealed in the ten and this is actually the proof that we have reached correction.

Excerpt 12 (01:56:36) Twice

57. S. (02:01:17) What is in our plea that only that lets the Creator correct?

R. We obligate Him that is called ‘’my sons have won me over,’’ that the Creator created the evil inclination and we demand of Him to correct it, to turn it to being a good inclination and it occurs only by our request. If we won't request, He won't do it, nothing will change in creation. Our request must be gradual on the steps of the ladder more and more in understanding and sensation and awareness, where it come from, why, in agreement with the Creator in a deeper manner until we see to the depth of His intentions in creation, all of this preparation for creation why He did it in such a manner where He even took this evil inclination that He inverted for Himself and so on. This is all our work such that we will know from one end of the world to the other, then we will be able to be like Him.

58. S. (02:02:56) The importance of the intention should that be included in our prayer?

R. Of course, yes. Otherwise, what is the prayer, what are you intending to, what do you want at all, it must be in the prayer otherwise there is no prayer.

59. S. (02:03:40) It turns out that the main part of the sin is that we have pride that prevents us from asking and to be independent. On the other hand, we learned that's what the Creator wanted us to get to, that we will be independent from Him. There is like a contradiction that we need to reach a state that we are independent and free from the Creator. On the other hand, we need to relinquish that state that we are independent and to be dependent on Him one hundred percent.

R. That is precisely what must happen, that I locate how opposite I am from the Creator and in this oppositeness, I must keep by restriction, screen, and reflected light. The separation of the created being from the Creator by my nature that He created in me, in this I am like Him in an external manner that I turn my nature in the intention to bestow. We have no problem, we are not annulled to the Creator, the Creator wants to see us big like Him and even more, that we’ll have once learned what is called ‘’my sons have won me over.” He raises us in His head if one can say, meaning above His own degree.

S. For now, according to what we learn on Yom Kippur, we do need to reach the state that we want to feel dependent on Him one hundred percent and receive everything from Him and through Him?

R. Of course, because without this we won't be able to correct anything. In the matter of correction, we need His force, but in the matter of request, how to locate all the flaws, the corruptions that also comes from Him, we place ourselves, stand ourselves up independently from Him as if we are playing with the Creator. He brings out all sorts of corruptions that we will find and search, and He is happy from this that we found it, and of that request of Him to correct it, meaning to turn into a correct form. We need to understand what the corruption is and how to do the correction, in what manner we must be corrected and what will remain inside in our evil inclination. On the outside we clothe in the good inclination and are similar to The Creator. There are many discernments here, and it’s a game by which we raise ourselves gradually truly to His degree. It is truly like a game between two and that’s why it is called ‘’my sons have won me over.’’

60. S. (02:07:06) There is a friend who wanted to ask a question. In my mind I think the question is not right, that’s what I think. It turns out that there's no faith above reason and there's like my convincing that...

R. He is asking according to what we are learning or not?

S. Yes, according to the study materials and the excerpts.

R. Let him ask, what can we do. I guess many other people have this question. So, please.

S. How actually for us, one who studies the wisdom of truth, to perform the commandant of Kapparot?

R. It truly is a tradition, I don't think there's anything in it. Thus, I say that all that we need to do is to insert all our desires for correction in the force of prayer, connection between us and prayer, these are the main things. It is written such that we need to do such and all the rest, the Kabbalists did this for people who don't have a desire for spirituality that in the meantime, they will engage in all sorts of seemingly corrections in an external manner. There is a white clothing and all sorts of other things that they do on Yom Kippur, the day of atonement. Even that they don't eat, I'm not against it. Me too, I make an effort to perform all these things, but they’re doing corrections in this? Of course not. Only Adam - man, does correction and all the corrections are in the heart, meaning in the desire. So, it is not important what clothing you are wearing or if you are doing atonement externally, meaning that you are giving money or with the chicken and that seemingly in this you are atoning your sins. Of course, you are not atoning your sins in this. If you’re not repenting in your heart that you're bringing yourself, your heart to the friends, closer to the Creator, nothing you will do will help you. Just to external people who are still not capable of engaging in correction of the heart, correction of the desire, to turn their nature into bestowal, then for them the Kabbalists invented all sorts of external actions. Let them engage in this and let them think that they are truly doing something. We are not allowed to talk with them in this way, let them engage seriously with what they are doing with their hands and their mouth, and we understand that all our work is in our heart. In the heart we have desire, the inclination in the meaning is an evil inclination, and we need to make requests to the Creator to turn it into the good inclination.

61. S. (02:11:01) All these years we used to do it. We used to give eighteen Shekels for every person that we have in the family, that’s good for dissemination too.

R. That’s something else, yes. We gather from all the friends in Bnei Baruch eighteen Shekels, that turns out to be in Hebrew. I don’t know how much it is, maybe another currency, we give it to our dissemination department and it’s for the correction of the world.

S. It’s a custom to give for the whole family. Let’s say you have five people in your family, so it’s five times eighteen.

R. Yes, eighteen Shekels from each person in the family.

62. S. (02:11:53) If in my mind, I still think that a question is not worthy, should I annul myself before the friend and jump above reason or should I still scrutinize?

R. The scrutiny, nonetheless, we need to make and make an effort to understand what he asked, why we don't agree, don’t see that it’s not the place but to cancel it right away is not good or respectable towards the friends.

63. S. (02:12:45) It says a person takes the decision that from today he will start bestowing like the Creator how can a person make such a decision?

R. This he is praying to the Creator.

64. S. (02:13:23) If the Creator raises us above his own degree does the Creator have a limit?

R. The Creator has a limit to the extent that He created the desire to receive until it becomes a desire to bestow with the intention to bestow this is the limit, the border. After we correct everything all of us together, turn our desire to be entirely on the intention to bestow of all of humanity of all the souls, then it will begin to rise to degrees that are before our creation, this is called the 8th 9th and 10th millennium. 6000 years is called were rising in the degrees out ZA, the seventh Millennium is that we are rising already on a whole degree but our desire to receive is entirely corrected and we have the 8th 9th and 10th Millennium, levels of Bina, Hochma and Keter. We don't learn or talk about that in the meantime, the main thing is that our study should be practical.

65. S. (02:15:11) From the excerpt it was written to do anything in your power there is to do, I don't understand as it is also written that even though he performs Torah and commandments he still sins and doesn't work for the Creator, why does he sin?

R. That a person does not perform what is up to him to do is called, that he is a criminal or a thief, things that are not good, why? Because in this he's bringing failure to all of humanity because he did not perform.

S. To perform Torah and Commandments is the externality?

R. We don't ever speak of what a person does externally, only what a person does in the heart.

S. Why does a person who performs Torah and Commandments called a sinner?

R. Because he doesn't do it, he feels that his heart is still egoistic in an egoistic form and he can’t do anything with himself.

66. S. (02:17:10) It says that we raise a prayer, that we sin by not raising the prayer but there are a few terms, there is the Creator where we raise the prayer of the 10 towards Him, then is says, work for the sake of the heavens, the heaven and the Creator is the same address for raising the prayer to?

R. Yes to the level of Binah.

67. S. (02:18:02) Friends are asking about the broadcast tomorrow and we won't broadcast.

R. This is a unique day of all the days, I'm in the days of the year in which we don't have a morning lesson it won't be a broadcast over the course of the day. You can enter the archive but we don't activate the system.

S. Maybe today at 2:00 we can have a lesson so there won't be too much of a gap?

R. There doesn't need to be a gap so please have a lesson, but I'm asking why are you turning to me, if you have a desire have a lesson morning till night. If you don't work, you can arrange around the clock around the earth, lessons in Brazil, Africa, Asia, Russia or Europe that you can start having lessons around the clock for the whole world. Specifically, that you are turning to me is a sign that it is not good that you feel yourselves, that you are not capable or dependent, you need to learn how to give lessons one to the other and to serve yourselves. Believe me in such a study you will feel more benefit than what you learned from me, more benefit, truly spiritual benefit that you will need to search how you can connect more and understand through our connection and in our connection, there is the teacher. Not me, rather our spiritual teacher, our connection and it leads us forward. There also we will begin to feel the Creator that He is who is teaching us.

S. On the level of tens we have lessons three times a day but like on Shabbat we have two lessons, we thought also today there would be an additional lesson so it wouldn't be anything different.

R. Prepare something and I will come to participate and tomorrow all the groups of the world can make a lesson without me, us.
