Part 2: Rabash. Article No. 12, 1989. What Is a Groom’s Meal?

We are reading from the writings of Rabash, the article is, “What is a Groom's Meal?” You can find the article on our websites and also ask questions through there.

Rabash. Article No.12, 1989. What is a Groom's Meal? (00:37) “Our sages said, “Anyone who enjoys..”

M. Laitman: (49:16) Questions?

Student: (49:24) It is very interesting that we read all the articles about this matter. We had three articles about this matter. I would like to scrutinize the matter of the bride. Yesterday we heard that the bride is the Malchut, the bride of Shabbat, the bride of the land of Israel. Today, the article started by saying that the bride is the state of work during the exile. Is there a difference between them? Can you explain it? It is an impersonal feeling.

M. Laitman: It’s in a person's feeling.

Student: But yesterday in the article there was one explanation and today it's a different explanation. I'm sure Rabash's intention was precise. What did he want? What was he doing by giving three articles about this topic that there’s some development?

M. Laitman: It is a development but with respect from the perspective of the attaining individual. It's not like the bride changes, the person changes and because of it he reveals, he discovers the bride in a different way.

Student: Why does he mention dancing before the bride and not in front of the bride? Is it before the state of the bride or is the bride a state where he still descends?

M. Laitman: No, no, no, before is not time wise, it's opposite in front of. In front of.

Student: Sounds like in front. I have to think.

M. Laitman: Okay, the bride will not run away.

Student: (52:50) He writes that the Creator is called the groom, from the words, a lower degree, that he lowers himself in order to give each and every one according to the measure of his attainment. What can we learn from that example for our work?

M. Laitman: That we should try to reveal the Creator in every single situation that he is in.

Student: We actually want to copy the Creator's actions so if he lowers himself, we have to lower ourselves in order to give everyone according to their measure of attainment?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: I want to ask how to implement it as how we work in the Ten?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: If we look at the state from that point of view, if a person, if I lower myself in order to give each one according to his attainment, so if he sees his friends as lower how can he reach equality with them?

M. Laitman: If a person has to come to a state where he is the least of everyone, the least of everyone, the lowest, this is really the purpose of his development.

Student: It's a bit hard, there's like a contradiction that he lowers himself like the Creator and he's going down to their level, he has to be the lowest?

M. Laitman: Becoming the lowest, by this he reaches the degree of the Creator.

Student: We have to think about it.

M. Laitman: Yes, we need to think. It's not so much to think as it is to do and to see.

Student: (55:21) He writes that if he prays to the Creator, that those thoughts will leave him, so he didn't gain anything from the forces of separation but he'll go back to the state he was in before he got the thoughts of separation. So he didn't gain anything and that means that he went through suffering for no reason?

M. Laitman: In other words we don't need to expel the heart purportedly bad or evil forces, rather we need to use them in a way that will push us forward.

Student: What did a person gain from the forces of separation?

M. Laitman: He has to discover the gap between the forces of separation and the forces of connection and that gap he wants to attain.

Student: What's the condition that a person didn't suffer for no reason from the forces of separation? How does he need to relate so he won't have such a result?

M. Laitman: He has to absorb them. It's called to tolerate them and to absorb them within himself. Then he will feel how much these forces of separation and how much they actually help him because they build in him the foundation of the prayer.

Student: It also says that a person has to agree to work the holy work even if I remain in this state my whole life. If a person agrees, it can't be that he ran away from the prayer and the demand?

M. Laitman: No, why not? He doesn't run away from the demand from the prayer. He still wants to be at the level of these demands, this degree, but he's willing also to agree with a state of being thrown out.

Student: One doesn't disturb the other, that he can remain in prayer, and he still agrees?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: The last question is that all our work is by keeping the Torah and the Mitzvot he has to intend that it will bring him to equivalence of form. Afterwards he also writes that his happiness is from trying to aim in order to bestow contentment to his Maker that by this he attains the vessel of bestowal. I don't understand how can he, before he attained the vessel of bestowal, how can he aim in order to bestow, I don't get that?

M. Laitman: He doesn't aim, he has only a desire for it or ostensibly an intention to reach in order to bestow, but he still hasn't reached the degree of in order to bestow.

Student: How is he in a vessel of reception, and his intention isn't corrected? He didn't attain a vessel of bestowal but he has a part that aims him exactly to that?

M. Laitman: In order to bestow.

Student: When we say that he needs to bring happiness to the Creator, how do we give an answer on why we want to make him happy?

M. Laitman: It's impossible to answer this, or it is possible to answer that it's because I feel the Creator as the highest that I feel Him that He is in a state that He is the highest. I respect His role, His level, His height.

Student: In our mind there's no answer, it's like a feeling in a person?

M. Laitman: No, it can also be an intellectual answer that we can give, why not? It's clear that this is how he reveals the Creator that He is above everything.

Student: When he speaks about the state of descent, and says that the advice is to pray and even if he can't pray, he should pray. From this he keeps on saying that still from the depth I've called upon you and then there is some kind of prayer deficiency. How, from a lack of ability to pray, suddenly it does appear. It's time or?

M. Laitman: By him being left with only acts of bestowal and he is in it and then by this he also receives desires and thoughts and abilities.

Student: That's called that he awakens?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: There's the thing about the house of Shammai and the house of Hillel, he says that the house of Beit Shammai is as bright as she is, that he has to overcome the taste he feels in the work and even though I don't feel importance, I accept Malchut above reason, and Beit Hillel says, that I have to take faith that I don't look at what I feel but to say that that bride is beautiful and graceful, and what he does not feel is still not worthy and he will see it afterwards. What's the actual difference between the two?

M. Laitman: That one says that afterwards he will feel, but right now he already takes it upon himself and the other one says he feels it now.

Student: But they're both above reason because in both he doesn't feel it. Just one is about the future and one is about the present and we work usually according to Beit Hillel, right?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: That even though I don’t feel I grind my teeth, I have to depict that she is great?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: (01:02:22) What's the difference in working from greatness of faith or working in greatness of the Creator?

M. Laitman: From the greatness of the Creator means that I raise Him above everything and I don't want to feel anything above Him. I don't have such a thing and there cannot be such a thing. According to the greatness of the faith means that I rely nevertheless on my own vessels. Therefore it still means that it will still change in the future. About the Creator I think that it's for good, and about faith, I think that it is for now.

Question Latin 12: (01:03:57) What does it mean that there was the scepter in the hands of the Redeemer? What does it mean that the Redeemer was holding the scepter, who is he and what is the scepter?

M. Laitman: The scepter or the staff, is called Mata, of low importance. The Creator has to explain to them how to be with little importance by them yearning to reach adhesion with the Creator.

Student: Who is that Redeemer?

M. Laitman: The Redeemer is the Messiah.

Question PT 23: (01:04:48) From every pleasure he receives he aims that it will be for the benefit of the Creator and by that he builds a vessel called receiving in order to bestow?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: How to measure if that intention is only for the Creator?

M. Laitman: We can measure this the way we learn in the expansion of the Partzufim from above downward. When the light comes and there is a restriction and the screen stands on a coarseness and the reflected light raises from below upward, and this way it sustains the direct light and receives it in order to bestow.

Student: (01:05:52) He describes work in above reason as work with no feeling, with no taste, with no importance, and in happiness. What is the fuel that allows you to do this work?

M. Laitman: If I maintain, if I hold this faith in order to bestow and I do this in order to bring contentment to the Creator, then there can be in me strength only from the Creator Himself from the source to which I bestow and this is how I work, this is what I hold on to. It's as if I shut my eyes and I work on an act of bestowal. They have eyes and they do not see.

Student: The true action of above reason is that it doesn't take anything through my hands but it's the Creator who does it?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: (01:07:24) When he reaches that low state he gives advice on how to pray, not that he just expels his thoughts, but to illuminate his face. What is that state? Can you explain it? How should the prayer really be?

M. Laitman: He comes to a high state and wants to remain in it but only to maintain the power of faith. He has nothing else to trust, only the Creator. Then he's actually happy that he's holding on to the Creator and he's certain that this is how he will remain in Kedusha, in holiness.

Student: Because if he asks to expel his thoughts he won't attain anything from that? Any other state?

M. Laitman: Any other state, right. (Unclear)

Student: (01:08:53) He writes everywhere here that the reward is the Torah, revealing His names of the Creator. What is that Torah which is the names of the Creator, he constantly repeats that?

M. Laitman: It's revelations of the Creator in every single state.

Student: That's the Torah?

M. Laitman: What else is the Torah?

Student: I don't know, light?

M. Laitman: What is light, what is instruction?

Student: The vessel that we come closer to the Creator we make the efforts and this light works on us we come closer to Him, the revelation of the Creator. Here he says the reward is the Torah, not the Creator?

M. Laitman: I don't understand your question.

Student: Everywhere here he writes that what will his reward be from increasing the vessels that will be in order to bestow. The reward will be that he will attain the Torah, meaning the names of the Creator. He says the benefit the Creator wants to give the created beings is revelation, called the Torah, the names of the Creator. What are his names, what is this revelation that it seems we're yearning towards?

M. Laitman: We have desires which the Upper Light organized, we, through combinations of desires, we can make of ourselves all kinds of forms of connection and through them to receive the light. In other words, if I do with my desire, some special form of connection but in order to bestow, then I keep in it some upper light according to the equivalence between the light and the vessel. If I change the form, the shape to make it similar to the light, then the light dresses in the vessel. In this way I reveal all kinds of forms of light by changing my vessel.

Student: That is pleasure?

M. Laitman: There is no greater pleasure.

Student: What pleasure is in that?

M. Laitman: The pleasure in this is that I am holding the light and it depends on me and I do in order to bestow contentment upon the Creator, that I reveal Him in all kinds of ways that I can incorporate in order to bestow upon Him. It's a pleasure that I want to give to the Creator. That's my pleasure.

Student: That's the purpose of everything?

M. Laitman: This is how I reveal the Creator, through the vessel that He created and this is all that I can do for Him. Yes? Why are you asking? Well, well?

Student: Well, I talk to people and at some point it reaches the, so what's the purpose? So we can say revelation of the Creator to the?

M. Laitman: The revelation is not the goal. Bestowing contentment upon the Creator is the goal.

Student:  I thought that's the correction, that by bestowing to Him I can implement the purpose of creation which is His revelation, the connection with the Upper Force. Me to Him, Him to me, all that thing. But still, it's difficult to even suddenly it sounds like it's lacking?

M. Laitman: Lacking what?

Student: I don't know, what is that pleasure?  What do you bring a person at the end of all the suffering?

M. Laitman: You enjoy the Creator, you enjoy the Creator who has given you the possibility to bestow. To be like Him, to bestow upon Him.

Student: It sounds like it's lacking something compared to all?

M. Laitman: Missing what, lacking what?

Student: Reality is full of details. Let's say a person is living his regular life in a normal state, there's a lot of details, a lot of pleasures and seems as something a lot more rich. Here, it's like, me to Him, Him to me, but what goes on there, what is that pleasure, what are we expecting?

M. Laitman: All the operations of nature, we can write them as a formula. It is basically one sentence and you see that there are infinite things here that we don't even know even a tiny part of them, so what do we do?

Student: It is obvious that there are things we don’t know. When we reach the purpose of creation, the purpose of this whole process, all these actions, everything, it seems small?

M. Laitman: It emerged from one intention and returns to one intention. This is actually the wholeness.

Student: That wholeness is greater than anything else?

M. Laitman: All of creation uses it, aspires for it.

Student: Aspiring to that?

M. Laitman: Yes. Why does it seem to you like it's small?

Student: I don't know, everything in life that I've engaged in there's always a lot of, you can speak into depth. If you cook something, you can speak about all the ingredients and the flavors and the aesthetics and the feeling and everything. You make a movie so you can speak about thousands of things?

M. Laitman: When we come to lights and vessels, our language becomes very concrete because you have nothing more than the lack and the filling and the intention that connects between them. You are not deficient, you don't need anything. All of creation can go into that simple formula.

Student: That's how it ends?

M. Laitman: That’s where it ends, there is nothing more. This is the formula of the connection between the Creator and the created being.

Student: So we have to attain?

M. Laitman: Yes, this is really the answer to everything.
