Growing Further in Order to Grow Closer - Excerpts from the Sources, #13
1.Rav’s Introduction: Yes, our whole work is only to see what we are receiving from the Creator correctly. Of course, everything we received, we received from him and of course what we receive from Him is only in order to bring us closer to the purpose. Here is the question, can we see it in what we feel, of course all of our thoughts and feelings come from the Creator? Can we decipher them correctly and see that these disturbances are real disturbances meaning, they come for us to overcome them and organize them correctly and see by rising above them our whole purpose. Where, in the end, the Creator reveals to us a greater will to receive each day and we need to see it as an ascent. 2. S. (05:13) You said that before any moment there's an opportunity for us and how do we recognize that opportunity?
R. It depends on the attention, on what you're expecting. When you are certain that from the Creator come only opportunities for ascents and you have to relate this way to every moment in life and then you'll really see it. You'll see that this is really so. We increase in Holiness, not decrease. Over all kinds of states, you'll discover that from the Creator in every situation in life nothing bad comes but only for us to overcome whatever it is and attribute it to the ascent. We also should pay attention to the fact that today we are happy about accepting everything that comes as a disturbance because really this is the best state. When some disturbances are revealed to us, then opposite that, we need to connect, we need to overcome, to become more and more connected among us in the 10, so that each disturbance becomes a degree of an ascent. 4. S. (10:28) Why do we need the darkness to see that we're doing the work in purity?
R. So it will be against our desire. Otherwise, how will we rise to spirituality? The Creator helps us by giving us the feeling of darkness. Just imagine that instead of darkness He would shine the light of pleasures. How would we be able to disconnect from them and perform any act of bestowal if I am immersed in pleasure? The Creator is giving us work, He is doing the work instead of us. What does He do? He brings us to the feeling of darkness, meaning that we have nothing to yearn for, or understand. By this, He gives us a chance to do something, to perform an act of bestowal. I have to overcome this darkness, just a little bit, start to awaken myself by myself through the ten, to awaken myself to connection.
There are no disturbances. What disturbances are there during the darkness? If all kinds of pleasures in food, sex, family, money, power, knowledge, illuminated for me, it would be much more difficult for me even if I were even capable of it. We have to think what conditions the Creator presents to us and around us that are ideal, great situations. He elevates us and elevates us by not giving us pleasure, by making us feel darkness, lack of success. It is great help from Him. This is why it is written “in a place where the Creator strikes, He heals”. It is as with physical medicine. How do I rise above the different feelings, pleasant or unpleasant, in order to get closer to Him? It is as we learn in the Partzufim where we have the restriction, the screen, the reflected light, the calculation of how much I can rise above myself in order to bestow, and then I do the work. To that extent I enter into adhesion with what is above me.
11. S. (27:17) Thoughts and feelings come from the Creator, but we do not feel the Creator. How do we truly feel Him in the point of contact with thoughts and emotions?
R. The Creator is revealed as a result of our correct response to what He brings us. We try to go above the egoistic calculation, meaning not responding to Him as it seems to me, in my vessels, my ego, in my will to receive, in my desire to enjoy, but that I will really relate to Him as to the constant
Good Who Does Good. In this way we come to a state where the Creator is always really the Good Who Does Good permanently and I have to see how I can be like Him. How I can receive each moment a feeling that I am in the Good Who Does Good, and that I am in complete bestowal upon Him as He is towards me? Not according to my feelings. In whatever I feel, I feel in my ego. How can I come to Him in a way that we are really connected?
12. S. (29:37) Every day we are building a prayer. Can the prayer also include gratitude and a request?
R. Of course. Every complete prayer consists of those two parts, a request and gratitude.
S. Can I request something from the Creator all day or only during certain times?
R. It is written, “I wish you prayed all day” meaning to be in contact with the Creator. Our work is to be in both the request and in gratitude. We have to try to be in both.
13. S. (30:33) How do we agree to accept the darkness as a matter for work and not escape it?
R. If we want to advance then we summon the darkness in order to get closer to the Creator. It is like a good worker who asks the employer “what more work do you have for me?” The work seems like a reward and not a salary to those who want to work.
S. Yes, but it is hard to come out of this instinct to run away and not work with it.
R. It all depends on the group and how much the group shows you that it is going towards it.
14. S. (31:42) How do we reach the highest level of prayer and supplication as a ten? What is this deficiency in us?
R. The lack, the deficiency, the desire is to bestow, to bestow upon the Creator. To come through the act of bestowal to similarity, to be coming identical with the Creator, as it is written, ‘I for my beloved and my beloved is for me’. R. You can't be grateful if you are suffering. Understand? It is not genuine, it is not honest, it's a lie, it's not sincere. You have to bring yourself to a state that even if the body suffers you disconnect from it and you don't feel that it is you suffering but that it is your evil inclination that is suffering. You enjoy it as if you're receiving a good reward because it helps you disconnect from it. Then you begin to feel the great help in it.

R. We want to come to perform work that is pure bestowal where I don't feel myself belonging to the work itself, or to the result from it, but only to the effort. If it is spirituality, I yearn only for the work, for the labor, and for nothing else. I yearn only for work, not before that, not afterwards, not while performing spiritual work. How do we choose a spiritual act where there is more labor? Where do we see ourselves as being able to succeed more? Where there is more labor. R. I have to do what is required of me, meaning the way I feel it. The way that I am receiving from the Creator through the system a certain sensation and feeling. I have to bring this feeling that I am inside the system end in the connection with the good that does good in that system and that's my work to constantly maintain myself in this way that whatever I am getting whatever I'm receiving I am getting it through the 10 let's say or the 10 could be the entire vessel or it could be just my 10. I am getting it from the Creator that there is 'None Else Besides Him", and ' the good who does good. I need to connect my 10 in such a way that I will see, truly see the Creator as the good who does good' and as there is none else besides and that's it, I have nothing else. It says if I am looking out through my binoculars and I need to find the focus so my attitude towards the 10 should bring me to the state where I can see clearly that I am in contact with there is none else besides the good who does good and it all depends on me I change the focus on the lens until I can see it.
S. Can I somehow remove myself from this picture or will I always stay there for some time?
R. I can't take myself out of this picture because then there is no picture there is nothing.
21. S. (44:42) In this work on one hand we have to be thankful and in prayer. I see that there is a problem. There is an inclination to always want to be full instead of being deficient and in prayer and you want to come out of that prayer and out of that corner because the ego always works on you, it's keeping you in that state. When we work together, how can we beat ourselves up so to speak so I come out of that state so there is more movement?
R. I think it's because we don't understand that we have to move only in the connection between us that we have no problem in the entire world and in the worlds, wherever you want, we have no problem whatsoever. I think it is a mistake in the definition of what is darkness and what is light in our connection with the Creator. It is not about having more understanding or less, or feeling sweeter or less, worse or less. Light and darkness is relative to my bestowal to the Creator more or less when I rise above the couple really good and bad and my understanding and feeling and only relative to the Creator if I can bestow to him, it is called light if I can't it is called darkness.

R. I don't know. I haven't read about Hallelujah or anything and whatever you're praying it's not everyone praying this way which is why I can't interpret these things.
