Part 2: Rosh Hashanah - Selected Excerpts from the Sources. I Am for My Beloved and My Beloved Is for Me. #7.

Reader: Hello, we will be reading excerpts from the sources on the subject of Rosh Hashanah. You can find all the links on Kabbalah Media. And we are at item 7, The View Of The Landlords Is Opposite From The View Of Torah. Excerpt 7, Rabash, this is from Letter 65.

Reading: (00:34) The View of Landlords Is Opposite from the View of Torah. 7. RABASH, Letter No. 65. - Thrice.

Now is the month of Elul (August/September) and it is customary that even regular people, meaning those with the view of landlords, engage in matters of Teshuva (repentance), as well.

What is the difference between landlords and students of Torah? The difference is that a “landlord” is one who wants to feel that he is the landlord in the world, meaning that his presence in the world will grow, that he himself will be rewarded with a long life and many possessions, which is called the “persistence of reality.”

“Students of Torah” are those who engage only in annulment of reality. He wants to be annulled before the Creator, and his only entitlement to exist in the world is because the Creator wants it. But he himself wants to be annulled. Also, he wants to bring all his possessions as an offering to the Creator, and the only reason he engages in obtaining possession is because it is the Creator’s will.

This is the meaning of saying that the view of landlords is opposite from the view of Torah, since the view of Torah is annulment of reality, and the view of landlords is the persistence of reality.

Workshop: (05:58) We will now hold a workshop and the workshop question is what is the difference between the persistence of existence and the annulment of existence? What is the difference between the persistence of existence and the annulment of existence?

Reader: Rosh Hashanah. 8. RABASH, Letter No. 34.

Reading: (14:38) Rosh Hashanah. 8. RABASH, Letter No. 34 - Twice. The meaning of Rosh Hashanah [New Year’s Eve] is a new beginning, when a person begins to build a new structure. It is as our sages said, “One should always consider oneself half sinful, half righteous. If he performs a single Mitzva [good deed/commandment], happy is he, for he has sentenced himself and the whole world to the side of merit. If he commits one transgression, woe unto him for he has sentenced himself and the whole world to the side of fault.”

Workshop: (16:00) How can we start each day, anew?

Reader: Friends, we’re going to keep going, we’re going to read something from Rav’s words and then do a workshop on Rav’s words.

Question: (23:16) What is the role of the Ten if I want to use them in order to cleanse my thoughts? Twice

M. Laitman: Man sees that without support from his little society, he can’t remain in the right thoughts for even one moment. That the entire Ten, if they support each other and together were all directly toward connection towards the Creator. To restrict themselves into one desire with one intention. Then, they start understanding what opportunity they have and they start seeing that the whole process they’re going through is all directed by the upper force.

Workshop: What is the result of our support in one another?

Reader: (30:39) We are continuing, Rav said the following, “I want to increase the greatness of the Creator, and not the means that I use, the group, the Ten, etc., but only to increase the greatness of the Creator”.

Question: What action is demanded from us in this work?

M. Laitman: To awaken ourselves above the state that comes to us from above, from the Creator.

Reader: Again, Rav said in the lesson today,” I want to increase the greatness and exaltedness of the Creator, and not the means that I use, the group, the Ten, etc., but only to increase the greatness of the Creator. Twice

Question: What action is demanded from us in this work?

M. Laitman: To awaken ourselves above the state that comes to us from above, from the Creator.

Workshop: (31:39) What does it mean to awaken the Creator, or to increase the greatness of the Creator, and not the means?
