Daily Morning Lesson: August 11, 2025

Part 1:

Live broadcast with Rav: Ask and Demand First – Selected excerpts from the sources

Reader: Hello, we are in a lesson on the topic of Ask and Demand First. We're going to read selected excerpts from the sources. I'll say, I'll give a background first: Rav, this week we heard from you that our corruption is that we do not awaken with a demand, that subconsciously we understand that the Creator organized everything, so then we do not raise MAN. So, we gathered a few excerpts that will help us ask and demand first, that we'll read a few excerpts, and we will scrutinize it through the questions of friends. So, we'll begin with Excerpt Number One.

Reading: (00:39) Baal HaSulam, Shamati, Article No. 57, "Will Bring Him as a Burnt Offering to His Will"

It is known that in order to extend abundance from above, one must precede an awakening from below. We must understand why we need an awakening from below. Because of this, we pray that there will be a will above. It means that we must evoke a desire from above to impart below.

It is not enough that we have a desire, but there has to be a good will on the part of the Giver, too. Even though above there is a general desire to do good to His creations, He still waits for our desire to awaken His desire.

In other words, if we are unable to evoke His desire, it is a sign that the desire on the part of the receiver is still incomplete. Hence, precisely by praying that there will be a will above, our desire is made to be a genuine desire, to be a fitting Kli [vessel] to receive the abundance.

M. Laitman: Yes, that is what Baal HaSulam writes to us. Probably – indeed, as much as we study and do all kinds of actions – it still doesn't awaken a greater desire in us, which is required for connection with the Creator. And we are here below, in the worst possible state where we shouldn't be proud of the fact that we study, that we understand more. On the contrary, we know what we need to do and we have the means, the tools for it; and yet we are lazy. And therefore, we have to see how do we increase the desire and the address to the Creator so that we feel a desire within us in all its might. And thus, we’ll rise by it higher and higher towards the upper force which then will hear, and we will discover our connection with it.

Reader: (04:33) In what are we lazy?

M. Laitman: We are lazy in turning to the Creator, there's nothing else we have to do; that's the only thing. Turning to the Creator, and demanding and asking as much as possible. All of us from a single heart so that He can't refuse it.

Student: And where does this laziness that we have come from in relation to the prayer to the Creator?

M. Laitman: In that we don't feel that we lack the deficiency, that we can continue like this another day, and another day. We woke up from sleep, we got to the lesson, everything's okay, I see my friends, everything's as usual. And it doesn't awaken a deficiency in me where I rise with a deficiency that I lack the Creator.

Student: Yes, so what should we do? We truly do study each day, we connect, we read. it's become our routine of life here for those students of Kabbalah.

M. Laitman: Right.

Student: So, what do we do with this laziness, what do we do with this phenomenon?

M. Laitman: We can see from the past that generations have passed in searching for the Creator, turning to Him, and didn't make it and become rewarded. So, how can we be certain that we will be awarded with reaching the true deficiency, to turn to the Creator in such a way that He will become revealed?

Student: It's still unclear how we awaken a deficiency for the Creator. How do I know that I'm not going to get up to tomorrow for another routine day of studies, sources, dissemination. That everything's according to the book, outwardly?

M. Laitman: No, that's insufficient, we have to have a deficiency that without revelation of the Creator, without feeling that we are inside of Him we can't keep going even for another moment.

Student: How do we reach that feeling?

M. Laitman: Prayer. Because the deficiency comes from above, from the Creator. We, the creative beings, see how much in all of humanity. Here and there, there's some subtle desire that appears, but the Creator doesn't fulfill it.

Student: Is that a feeling that you feel in the generality of society of Bnei Baruch, or where do you feel that laziness? Everyone feels it to a certain extent?

M. Laitman: Everyone feels it, possibly to a certain extent, but still, if we collect all those deficiencies, they still don't achieve the deficiency that awakens the Creator to help us.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (09:05) How do we turn the day into, a day of revelation?

M. Laitman: It all depends on our demand, on our deficiency. Probably, so far, we weren't able to awaken the Creator to bestow this deficiency to us.

Student: So earlier, I heard you say, that each day just turns into another day, and we don't reap the maximum. So, how do we really make the day as effective as possible toward the Creator?

M. Laitman: I, too, have the same state.

Student: So, what causes us, how do we create that awakening toward Him?

M. Laitman: We have to reach a deficiency to bestow to the Creator. A deficiency that we hold it, that we don't open it. That we turn to the Creator and demand from Him to awaken our deficiency to Him; so much so that we can no longer be detached from Him, let's hope that will help us.

Reader: We have questions, so let us start from Petach Tikva.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (11:28) He writes here that precisely through that in which we pray that there will be a will above, desire will be made to be a genuine desire. So, what is that prayer that there will be a will above?

M. Laitman: That the upper force that exists on a degree above us, He will feel the deficiency in us, and respond to it in a way that will raise us to his degree.

Student: But we still do not have a deficiency. So why do we ask for a deficiency above, if we shouldn't have a deficiency from below, first?

M. Laitman: No, it's not that there's a lack of desire above, rather from above there's a certain limitation over the light. And as a result of that, as a result we don't feel the deficiency in full. And each one has to awaken a deficiency in everyone – everyone, the first one does it in everyone, the second one does it in everyone and so forth. If in this way we each find a deficiency, or reveal a deficiency in everyone, first of all, it will be a big deficiency; secondly, it'll be a deficiency that comes from everyone. And then everyone will lack feeling the others in a way that he really can't bear.

Student: What does that mean that there will be a will above?

M. Laitman: That there will be a will above. It's like what we say, that there will be a desire before you, and so on, that the desire will exist. And that the Creator won't be able to refuse it because in quantity and quality, according to the revelation of the deficiency in our plea, in our prayer. We can say that we truly lack the desire to bestow to Him.

Student: Yesterday, we had a wonderful unity evening, it was very unifying all around the world. How do we measure that we came out of that with the correct deficiency? How can we say that truly, the outcome was that we came out with a true deficiency?

M. Laitman: I don't think we can measure that, it all depends only on the deficiency that we reveal in our address to the Creator. That we reveal our deficiency that we lack being adhered to Him, and that's how we want to keep going from our collective deficiency.

Question (Latin 1): (16:06) He writes that the general desire of the Creator is to do good to His creations. So, what is inside of us that doesn't let us truly awaken the Creator's desire to do good? Why we don't want His good?

M. Laitman: We don't want because that's how our desire only takes care of itself: As I care about only what I feel in my desire. And in my desire, my deficiency, I only feel that I lack something in this world, and that's it – I'm good with that.

Question (Women PT 6): (17:06) How do we awaken a deficiency in the friends? What is the correct way to awaken the deficiency in the friend?

M. Laitman: What's the right way to awaken the deficiency in the others? First of all, it's through the Creator because we're all connected to, each one connected to everyone. And thirdly, that we know how much each one affects everyone, and therefore, we should pray for everyone, for all of us. One who is in the framework, in the part of the progress, in the deficiency. For them, for Him, we need to care about this kind of deficiency.

Question (Unity 2): (18:32) We pray for the friends, for the group, for the world Kli, but still, there's also the emotion of the cry of the world, the whole creation towards – we also want that prayer to raise that to the Creator. Can we pray also for the whole world surrounding us and if so, how do we do that correctly?

M. Laitman: Certainly, we can, the Creator awakens within us, and therefore, what we feel, we feel literally through Him. And therefore, what we lack is to connect between us and raise the common deficiency to Him, upwards. And then, certainly, we'll feel an answer.

Question (Women Turkiye 7): (20:12) When all kinds of problems awaken and surface in me, I still don't succeed to reach a state where I'll have just one single unique desire of yearning to the Creator. So, my question is, how can I bring myself to a state where I will demand the Creator to correct my deficiency?

M. Laitman: That's truly important to us: How do we get to that deficiency in a way that we each time awaken ourselves, artificially you could say, to a deficiency towards the Creator? That we wish to reveal Him, we wish to bestow to Him, we wish to connect with Him, and this way, that will happen for us.

Question (Women PT 23): (21:30) You said that whole generations did not become rewarded with reaching the Creator. So, how can we in our generation become rewarded with reaching a true deficiency?

M. Laitman: How we'll get there, that's what we read, and study, and understand how it has to happen. By connecting our deficiency and raising that to the Creator.

Student: Can I add a question, Rav?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Women PT 23): (22:04) We, in the last year, approximately, we gathered a morning prayer for our morning workshop, and we felt that the words of the Siddur entered our prayer and really opened our heart. Is it beneficial, this work with the Siddur?

M. Laitman: It doesn't have to be with the prayer book, the Siddur, it could also be with any other source. And the main thing is that we'll all connect to a single source and demand from it with a single heart, and that's how we'll be awarded.

Question (Darom 1): (23:18) If they tell me to develop a deficiency, so I'm a person who can feel that he has nothing against with which to work. What does it mean to develop a deficiency, even though he knows that it's hard for him to work? But if I join to that a state which takes place with me, even corporeally, that it is bad. So, here I can develop a deficiency because I want to justify the Creator. So, I have, in the face of that evil, that I know that it's good that the Creator wants to advance me. So, I have what to work against, and it's easier for me to develop the deficiency. Is it worthwhile for us to work more in that way?

M. Laitman: I think that we should still work opposite all the deficiencies that exist, and that in everyone's name, we will ask the Creator for help.

Student: Yes, thanks, Rav. I'm intending of using the resistance more of these things that take place to us, to each and every one of us during the day. That when you engage with that,

M. Laitman: No

Student: that you use it as a springboard to the Creator.

M. Laitman: No, don't think about the deficiency in the sense that you have no sufficient strength and tendency towards the Creator. Don't think about that because that can still weaken you completely.

Student: I intended the opposite, Rav, that that gives me a lot of strength – not to weaken, but on the contrary.

Reader: What I hear from the friend in the question: It's hard for me to develop a deficiency, but if I join to it a corporeal state, a state that is bad, so it's easy for me to awaken a deficiency. They send me missiles or they'll have a disease or something, so it's easy for me to come with a deficiency to the Creator. Is it correct for me to join to that deficiency all kinds of corporeal states that help me to develop the deficiency?

M. Laitman: Yes, but I think that a personal deficiency is not something we're missing or lacking; we can't rise from a personal deficiency to a collective deficiency.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (26:34) The technology of how to reach the Creator, the prayer, we know. And we exercise that already for many years, but the prayer still becomes still technical, not deep enough. Because there still is really no desire to resemble the Creator. In one way or another, we cannot request something that you do not want. But the desire wants something, so it knows how to request it and really stand up for that.

M. Laitman: Yes. Typically, it happens when deficiencies of the group don't come together. And when they don't come together, then each one feels his deficiency, and just a little bit from the rest of the group, from the collective deficiency of the group, but it's not sufficient. Therefore, what we need is, after all, to feel the deficiencies of the friends – how much they have greater concern than mine. If I'll feel that, I won't be able to sit calmly, rather I'll just have to rise with my deficiency to the collective deficiency.

Question (Moscow 7): (28:25) The question is how to make it such that the words of the prayer will awaken the prayer from the heart, and it's desirable that it will be the collective heart.

M. Laitman: This is a question, it's a question. Seemingly, every one of us has a deficiency, some kind of a question. But what we're lacking so that the sensations, the personal sensations of exile, meaning the detachment from the Creator. That these will connect across all of us together to a single common desire. This is truly not a simple question. What does it mean, a desire that the group cannot realize? They unite with other groups and in such a way they extract from it a more whole desire that the Creator answers. In general, I could tell you what it means, but then you've generally heard about it. But more than that, I can't say, it's all felt in the heart. And our words, they're essentially erasing our feelings from what we say. The bedrock under these words, and therefore the words come out as dead. And when you say them, as if it's coming from yourself, and you prepared it, and maybe you thought about it. But when you talk about it, you just feel how it just flies out of you empty, the words are empty. And there's nothing special in them that can truly shake the Creator.

Question (Women Turkiye 8): (31:29) How can we present to the Creator our deficiency in the best way possible? How to present to the Creator our deficiency?

M. Laitman: Missing translation And then you'll see how much that awakens a response.

Reader: If we turn to the Creator, like to a mother or a father, and we feel that mother or father wants for our benefit, we have a big insufficiency for ourselves to progress us.

M. Laitman: So, you and your friends, you have to awaken yourselves to relate to the Creator exactly as you say. That there's a mother and father, they care about you, they send you all kinds of reminders, but you're not so ready to receive it and respond.

Reader: What is the problem if I feel that the Creator at the end will organize everything? Like a parent, that He'll take care of everything. Why do I need a deficiency on my behalf? He awakens for me, a desire for me, and I need to go towards Him. How is that even beneficial?

M. Laitman: Following Him means to come closer to Him. And for some reason, we aren't so awakening that every day. That's why it seems to me that’s what we need.

Question (ITA 4): (34:15) How can we clean our desires in order to yearn to bestow to the Creator?

M. Laitman: We have to work between us to discuss this with feelings – maybe not words or add words to it – but to work on it, all in all. We don't have many vessels, but in what we have, we need to work every day.

Student: Meaning, every day I need to work on myself in order to nullify all the desires that don't give me the mood, the spirits?

M. Laitman: That don't give you a feeling, a true feeling, as much as you aren't connected to the Creator, yet.

Question (Unity 4): (35:52) During the lesson I have these feelings that come from my personal life. That 20 years ago, I remember when my wife was young and there were certain feelings, and now after many years, I feel that I can lose her soon. Time has kind of diminished and I can feel like I might not see her or feel her. Can we limit this also to the relation to the Creator this way – can we parallel?

M. Laitman: You can have all kinds of depictions towards the Creator. But I think that you should think in which state would you be connected to the Creator, to that one whole, okay?

Reader: I suggest we read a short excerpt from Rabash, Number 2. Let's read, and then we'll continue with more questions. Rabbah writes:

Reading:
(36:59) 2. RABASH, Article No. 576, "I Will Remove the Stony Heart" if there is no awakening from below, one does not receive help from above for this. This is called “man’s work,” meaning what man should do, since answering a prayer pertains to whether there is a prayer from below, which is called “raising MAN,” meaning that a person raises the lack that he has and asks the Creator to satisfy his lack.

Hence, if he has a lack that he cannot work not in order to receive reward, the Creator gives him the Mayin Duchrin [MAD], which is the filling of the lack, namely the Creator gives him that strength. However, if a person does not ask for this, meaning about not being able to work not in order to receive reward, then we cannot speak of filling a lack.

M. Laitman: Oh, how many questions we have – oh, a lot of questions!

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (38:40) What is this process of building a common deficiency? How do you make a personal deficiency into a common one?

M. Laitman: When we read, let's say an excerpt – what we study – and we awaken ourselves, how to respond to it; and that's called building a common deficiency.

Student: What will make it common?

M. Laitman: We're all reading the same source, and we're going through the same questions, asking from within everyone their own deficiency. And those deficiencies connect and are directed to the same source, well, as much as possible. That's called that we want to connect through some excerpt to the Creator.

Student: So, does this need to be some kind of one feeling that we all want? We all, in general, want the same thing. There's thousands of people, we all want the same thing, we're reading the same excerpts. We're learning from the same teacher, all of us, we're all advancing in the same path. What's the next step that makes it common, or united, from many deficiencies into one?

M. Laitman: First of all, it's to connect all of our deficiencies into one, and that it will be directed to one goal, meaning the Creator, to one action, which is revelation of the Creator, to a group of the created beings. And in this way keep going, and to try that when we're going from one paragraph to the next, that we're not losing ourselves. That we remain in our deficiency, our common deficiency, in somewhat. And then we only go on to search for other points where we need to connect between us, in order for Him to be able to reveal Himself completely, okay?

Question (Turkiye 6): (42:06) How do we build a common deficiency and come back to the Creator with this deficiency as a Ten?

M. Laitman: That depends on our work. As much as each one wants to be connected to the others, as much as one only thinks of the connection with the others. And as much as he does hope that in this deficiency that he's raising to the Creator in such a way that the Creator will fill that deficiency, and in this way we can advance. It all depends on raising our deficiency – what do we want to have in it?

Question (Kyiv 1): (43:32) When I hear you, or I read what you write, or what you wrote in your books. That same deficiency towards the Creator, that without which you cannot live and advance, so it's really felt in every word and every expression. Question: Can we make it so that the deficiency like yours will be an asset of our whole Ten or the whole broad group? So that we’ll ache, all of us, not to hide behind some formulas or cliches, or words that we say?

M. Laitman: In my yearning for the correction, there's nothing special, that's why, if you want, you can all be together, connected between you, and with the Creator. With all our friends in the world, and to raise this deficiency to the Creator – direct it to the Creator, that's what you're going to need to do.

Student: Nevertheless, that inner pain, that feeling of necessity towards the Creator, how to make it the inheritance of everyone so that everyone feels that pain?

M. Laitman: You have to talk about it and then you will connect between you; and in that common longing, in that common deficiency, you will be able to gather everything you're lacking and send it to the Creator, and the Creator will have to answer that.

Question (MAK 7): (46:10) There was a very powerful Unity day yesterday, and we all felt that deficiency is not ours, but the Creator is the one who's giving us this deficiency. And there's this spiritual fear that I won't see how much I need to invest efforts, because the Creator gives everything, and reveals everything. So how do we work with this?

M. Laitman: The fact that you feel that you're getting a desire from the Creator, that's a pretty good degree – but what do you do with it then? Onward, you have to connect with the entire world group and in some way, from within that desire, to pass it to them. You have to connect to them, and give it to them, even not in words, but in actions. And then, whatever the Creator gives you, it will be something mutual to all of you, that's how it goes.

Question (Almaty): (47:46) I wanted to know, if I already appealed to the Creator, I put forth my prayer above, but there's no answer yet. How can I know, how can I see whether I need to invest more additional efforts of the same kind of appeal, the same emotions?

M. Laitman: With no doubt, more efforts.

Student: Is there a nuance here that I can maybe change my appeal to the Creator?

M. Laitman: Don't try to work in corrections from your past. Whatever will be right tomorrow, we’ll correct everything. And don't ever think about how in the past you had to do something else back then.

Question (Turkiye 1): (48:56) How to awaken a deficiency from below in the Ten?

M. Laitman: That's through our work. That I turn to the Ten, and I awaken them. Let's connect together today in a more serious way than yesterday. And aim ourselves better towards the Creator, and strengthen it in our words, in our prayer. You will then see, as much as it will change you and your connection with the Creator, and you don't need anything else beyond that.

Question (Women Spanish): (50:10) The question is, what is that sensation that is equal to the sensation of separation from the Creator in order to be able to achieve a complete force in the prayer? Again, what is that feeling that is similar to the feeling of disconnecting from the Creator to be able to attain a complete force in our prayer?

M. Laitman: I don't think it's worth working on that now because it'll make us fall even lower. We will try in these scrutinies to scrutinize as much as we're lacking, as much as we – as much as we're not unique and so on, that's not good. We will reach spiritual quality and then we'll also be able to add to it the disconnection between us.

Question (Turkiye 7): (51:35) What deficiency need a person to awaken in order for his friends to be able to discover the Creator within him by bestowing to him? What form of deficiency does he need to awaken so that his friends will reveal the Creator through him by him bestowing to him?

M. Laitman: If he is bestowing to the friends and through them he wants to bestow to the Creator, eventually he needs to feel from the friends a deficiency. And if he is incorporated in that deficiency with a friend. So, he's incorporated in the deficiency that the friend is organizing inside. And this way he will ascend with everybody.

Question (Hungarian-Polish): (52:43) How to become sensitive to a deficiency, below, to be able to ask that deficiency from above?

M. Laitman: I understand – I understand but that depends on the heart. It depends on the extent of his concern to the deficiency that we raise to the Creator. So, the more we connect and raise our deficiency, we'll be rewarded in the Creator responding to it in a stronger way.

Question (Latin 2): (53:59) Is the reason that we don't have a deficiency to feel the Creator because we don't have fear towards the Creator?

M. Laitman: I don’t think so, it's because of fear that's at us towards the Creator, no. I think that for us there's only one thing difficult now – that we'll all feel ourselves connected to one heart. From that one heart, we need to force the Creator to open Himself and connect to us, to our heart; and this way we'll keep going.

Reader: (55:03)   You said earlier that we need to feel the deficiencies of the friends and the extent in which they care more than me. If I feel that, it won't let me sit calmly, but it will awaken me to a deficiency, from my personal deficiency to a common deficiency.

M. Laitman: No, it's not exactly what I said, but let's say.

Student: So, it's not exactly like that?

M. Laitman: No, I didn't say that I have to reach a state that I'll discover that the friends are concerned more than me – that's what you're saying.

Student: That's how I understood it. So, it's not like that, so what is correct?

M. Laitman: Maybe it's also like that, what to do about it? If I discover in my yearning to the Creator that I'm not in it completely. So, I have to ask, to cry, what can you do? When I ask the Creator for correction that will raise my sensitivity, that I'll have a deficiency for connection. Then when I will reveal that deficiency, I can check what the Creator is sending inside it. I think that's enough for us.

Reader: I’ll ask, nevertheless. If a person doesn't have a lack for that either, he's indifferent, he's lazy, even to cry to the Creator and pray for a deficiency. He's here, he's here, the light's working, another lesson, another, it'll operate, anything but leave, I'm here.

M. Laitman: There's such a time that we all feel ourselves that it's not so important for us whether we advance or not. And what we're lacking is that we must, we must say or respond, we're lacking to open this picture, attitude towards the Creator  – and Him towards us. To do all kinds of effort, efforts in order to reach an equal relation from us upward and from the Creator downward, that's it.

Reading: (59:11) 3. RABASH, Article No. 22 (1986), "If a Woman Inseminates"

The only way to obtain a deficiency, that we are lacking the desire to bestow, is by prayer, which is a “medium” between man and the deficiency. That is, one prays for the Creator to give him something for which he has no deficiency, that he will lack it. It follows that the Kli that is called “deficiency” is a deficiency with respect to the feeling, meaning that he does not feel its lack, and the prayer is that the Creator will give him the light, which is the filling of his lack. It therefore follows that the filling is a lack. Thus, he has no other choice but to pray to the Creator to give him a deficiency, and this is what connects the Kli with the light.

It is as Baal HaSulam said in the name of the ADMOR of Pursov about what Rabbi Shimon said, “The writing should hasten primarily where the pockets are empty.” A “pocket” means a Kli where one puts money. A “pocket” means deficiency, and “money” is the filling of the deficiency.

Question (Haifa 3): (01:01:12) What is the common wholeness in our deficiencies? Is it the goal or the actual depiction of our deficiencies, together?

M. Laitman: The whole deficiency and the fulfillment of the whole deficiency. So, the whole deficiency, or the complete deficiency, is the deficiency of all the created beings that are on some degree of connection. That they want to connect between them, and in that deficiency, to get some kind of fulfillment from above. That's called that they're giving a vessel to the Creator, and then we can advance. There is a bit more, but today we've advanced pretty good.

Reader: So, thank you to our Rav, thank you to all our friends! Before we move to reading the Zohar, let's summarize what we received now from the Rav. Please, workshop in the Tens.
