Rav’s Introduction: A very important article, actually all the Shamati articles are. Why? It explains to us how to advance towards the goal. Where our advancement toward the goal has to be through two opposite things left and right left and right. Because it's clear to us that we cannot be in a good state and a bad state, we simply label them as such according to the feeling in our corrupt will to receive. S. If I understand correctly, you started the lesson by inviting us not to appreciate what is good or what is bad but what promotes us more towards the goal, that's what I understood. That's called the middle line and the middle line is called Adam that which we construct inside of us and the good and the bad come to us from the Creator. That's why it gave us an opportunity to be correctly assembled of these two intentions, these two states. That's why it's called, He performs light and creates darkness and it comes from the Creator, but a person only has to accept these two things correctly, even equally because the attitude towards them has to be as towards all of creation like in our world. There's no light without darkness and darkness is opposite light and light is opposite darkness, he can't have it in any other way and this is how we have to be constructed spiritually. Physically we are in it in a certain limited range. Where we distinguish between plus and minus in various shapes and forms and this is what makes up our feeling in this world. That's why we feel ourselves as existing in a very limited narrow band out of all of reality called this world. But we need to build ourselves and we can assemble ourselves into a higher form. Where we can place one against the other as it's written, I created one against the other, ultimately good and evil to scrutinize the evil from the good, the good from the evil and position them against one another as two lines and by that we construct ourselves as the middle line. 4. R. (22:12) When we look at the world, we can't say that the world is good and the Creator, the one that manages it, is good.

R. Our work is to raise the good above the bad and to connect them together in the middle line. We attribute both bad and good to the Creator and understand that there is no bad, but it is only in order to point to the good. We then establish and reach the goal. R. Yes, you have to try to justify the Creator even though you feel bad. Meaning abstain from the bad, rise above the bad, above the will to receive, to its opposite, to the will to bestow. Ask the Creator to give you knew, different vessels and the ability to feel them in you, and to rise above, to be a grown up. You can imagine what it's like to look at the world with different eyes rather than those of a child. It happens naturally to a child but you should already understand and rise above it. Although in my feeling I see that the world is bad I want to see the world as all good. This is called ‘faith above reason.’ I want to determine that the world is good above my feeling. Everything depends only on the level of my correction.

S. So I simply replace the bad feeling with the good feeling and add the Creator to my bad feeling?

R. Correct.

S. The article says that we should hate separation and immediately after that it says that without separation, we cannot appreciate unity. So, should I hate the separation or should I want it?

R. This is already working in lines. We can't be in all the lines simultaneously as that would already be the middle line. We will learn it; that's the next stage.

20. S. (48:47) How do we focus the intention in the ten to arrive at the knowledge of what is the cause of suffering?

R. If you try to unite, to connect among you, and discover the root of what is happening in the connection between you, you very quickly come to the solution in every single state you're in. You build conditions for revealing the Creator when you really want to establish the center of your connection where you want to discover the Creator. You reveal all the relationships through this because you have no one else to be in contact with. There is None Else Besides Him and only He operates on you. So, what you're establishing in all the forms of connection between you and the ten, is really studying the Creator every time.

21. S. (50:37) How do we work with the Shamati articles?

R. We need to have both intellect and feeling here, and to try to connect ourselves to them in all kinds of ways. The articles of Shamati are not really articles as much as they are a projection of the soul. The more we read and study them, and turn them this way and that way, in this way and that way, by this we will constantly advance ourselves towards the Creator. Baal HaSulam placed the heart and soul of the correction in them.

S. Earlier you said that there was individual work of a person.

R. Of course there is personal work here in order to understand, to feel, to incorporate and cling to this article and to adhere to it. R. Today we only want to get to know this article for the first time. There is no doubt that we will be confused. We must not take into consideration what we feel and what we understand. We simply want it to operate and work on us. I want to hear and feel these specific words together among all of us, in the whole world Kli, and to be confused and not understand. This is a very, very, complicated state where I don't know what's happening to me and how these things work. It's like plowing the land in order to sow seeds in it later. That's the state we have to be in today. We understand it and feel it and are ready for it.

R. Yes, it's just like raising crops in the field. We have to turn the soil inside out, we plough, place the seeds in it, and then we water it. We get results by the sun and by the various conditions he writes about elsewhere.

It all depends on the extent to which we are connected among us toward the common goal. Then we can turn this whole path of corrections into a good, pleasant way with excitement. It all depends on the level of our connection to the goal. The greatness of the goal determines everything here.

R. We need to feel if our friend is weak, it is our fault and then look how to help him.
