Part 1:

Baal HaSulam. The Arvut [Mutual Guarantee]. #21

1. Rav’s Introduction: (00:30) Yes, we are in the day of the Matan Torah, the giving of the Torah which is the greatest thing actually that can be. That those people who lived their ordinary life where they don't know why and what for, they received guidance how to understand in which world they exist, who they are, people, human beings, and if they then want to get out of this narrow framework in which they feel this world and expand in all of their senses to a new world, to a new perception where there is something beyond what they perceive in the five bodily senses they have, but rather there is a much more reach and broad reality and eternal reality and it is possible to discover it and feel it and to unite with it. And it is all given to us by the Torah, meaning by this method that expands a person's perception, and it helps him to establish himself in the true reality outside of the narrow reality that he feels in his corporeal body. This is why this holy day is very special. It is what distinguishes between animals in this world and the spiritual life. Human beings that can come out of this feeling of this life and add to it a true, complete, whole, eternal existence beyond our bodily senses. This is why this holiday, we should respect it in the most internal manner. So let's learn what Baal HaSulam and Rabash write about it and all of the other people who felt it in its internality, in its true form, that they were able to shift from the feeling of only this world to the complete feeling. And let's hope that we also, through our efforts, by their commendations will also be able to reach that. Okay, if there will be any questions, go ahead and ask. We have time, we need to scrutinize this thing as much as we are capable of. So, let's go.

Reading Item 21 (04:52) “These are the words of Rabbi Elazar..”

2. R. (05:55) This means that there is a certain transition from the feeling of this world which we perceive in our five bodily senses just like all of the creatures in this world and there is a perception of reality and additional sense. This additional sense is called the attainment of the Creator, the qualities of the Creator, the quality of bestowal and it is attained through efforts in connection between us. And as much as we try, time and again, time and again, we discover that everyone, men and women, even children, it doesn't matter what they are and who they are if they try to distance themselves from their will to receive and to come closer to bestowal, to connection, to love between them, they begin to feel through these qualities, to feel the world in a new manner which we cannot even depict right now to someone who doesn't have this sense, the sense of feeling others. And certainly it is not simple, one who is greater than his friend, one who will be greater than his friend to begin with, his inclination is greater than him, meaning he has more evil inclination, more rejection, and all kinds of excuses and reasons for why he doesn't need that. He has criticism over this whole method of shifting from the feeling of the corporeal world through the five bodily senses to the feeling of the spiritual world through the five spiritual senses. And we should try, we should try. You can ask along the way whatever you want, but it should be in accordance with what we are talking about more or less. So please.

Continuing Reading (08:57) “Clearly, if the side of merit…”

3. S. (09:50) I wanted to ask a more general question about the introduction that you gave. How should a ten prepare itself towards the reception of the Torah?

R. The ten is like a model of the nation. Where you have maybe ten people there, it could be that it is not ten, it is less preferably, it should be no more because it becomes difficult with the number that is greater than ten to get along. But we need to try to reach what they are telling us about. To be “as one man with one heart,” to be in mutual support, to have the understanding that I need to reach a state where I must be connected with everyone. I must be concerned about everyone. I must enter into my ten with my heart and truly with all of my emotions as much as possible. So that this group, this ten will become in my eyes something that is one, so that I will not be able to distinguish between the friends but rather all of us will feel ourselves that we truly exist in one heart. Even though just like in a human being there are many thoughts and desires and decisions that are contradictory and he himself, inside of himself has all kinds of disagreements and conflicts, so we can also be in the ten. But along with it, this is actually the condition that we can rise above it and advance even more. Advance even more than that.

S. The feeling of the individual becomes the feeling of the collective?

R. The individual remains in that he wants to include the collective within himself. That he wants to come closer to the collective. To connect with them, to become incorporated with them, and in his incorporation with the collective he does not disappear but rather he then feels himself as a new individual.

S. What is that new individual?

R. This new individual is that he becomes incorporated in everyone and this is his new spiritual form.

S. Why doesn't the feeling of the collective swallow up the feeling of the individual?

R. They do not obstruct each other. They entirely do not obstruct each other. They only help, it is the opposite. They reinforce each other where each one wants to include everyone within himself, becoming incorporated in everyone, to serve everyone. By that he adds to them the general force and in this general force they all want to be connected.

S. In the near and upcoming days there is the holiday of the Shavuot, the giving of the Torah. What should we focus on to come to that goal?

R. That in these days, especially, we need to realize that if they wouldn't accept, receive this method, the method of connection called the Torah, then we will be separated from each other for eternity. And, we would have no possibility to understand what is the spiritual world, what is this quality in which the Creator exists. And, He is inviting us to join Him. We would remain as animals.

S. Did we receive the method? Are we to receive in the future, the method?

R. No, the method exists. There are already many people, many souls, parts of Adam HaRishon that have already adopted it upon themselves. We need to try to also do it.

4. S. (16:29) What does it mean to receive the method?

R. To receive or accept the method, I don't know exactly. We will soon talk about what this method requires of us. What is it that we have to do in order to rise from the degree of the animate in this world to the degree of the spiritual Adam.

S. Also in the introduction earlier you started with, you are hoping that we will be able to feel in the most internal way this holiday like the Kabbalists that attained it. What exactly do we want to feel internally?

R. We want to feel what is the Torah, meaning what is this force that elevates us from the degree of the human being in this world to the degree of the human in the Upper World. Meaning, that we will raise ourselves. We will raise ourselves from the feeling of this world to the feeling of the Upper World. From our qualities, the five qualities that we have in our five senses to the upper spiritual senses. We expect from the Torah that it will affect in us great changes in us.

S. What is the Torah, what is this thing? Is it a system, is it a force, what is the Torah?

R. It is a method for how to connect to the Upper Force of nature so that it will affect us and change us.

S. So why is this standing called the Matan Torah, meaning what exactly is being given to you?

R. You are being given a method from which you can rise from the degree of being a human being in this world to a spiritual degree.

S. And until that standing you don't have a method? What do you have?

R. No, no they have anything.

S. So, what is nothing?

R. You live according to your senses and according to your egotistical will to receive.

S. So what's this edition that you now have a method? Because they didn't have anything until the Matan Torah, they have nothing?

R. Until the giving of the Torah there is nothing, no. Well, there is some preparation for this group that is destined to receive the Torah. But, it's not the Torah. The Torah means this reforming light that raises us, it is a force that raises us from our level of existence here in this world, what we feel now, to the spiritual world where we will feel the qualities of bestowal. And, it is a result of that force and their origin which is the Creator.

S. It turns out that the giving of the Torah is a very fatal, a very deterministic standing?

R. Yes, that's true.

S. So according to what I understand, until you have the giving of the Torah, then you really don't enter the work, because you don't have a method.

R. That's true.

S. So what's the condition for there to be the MatanTorah?

R. The condition that I can say is the most important is the root of the soul. Adam HaRishon is the system that includes within it all of the people in the world. All human beings. And, the Torah is this Upper Light that grows, develops the will to receive in a person and it corrects it until it becomes in order to bestow, until it becomes a spiritual desire, and to that extent one discovers in what new world he is truly living.

S. So for this Matan Torah to happen, I am trying to understand what to be meticulous about and what to pay attention to so that this Matan Torah will happen to you because otherwise you are not really starting to work with what corrects you?

R. We see how much this process is a slow, gradual process that occurred throughout history and most importantly in Babylon where bit by bit people connected between them who didn't know why and what for and how but this was already also as steps towards the reception of the Torah. Terah, and later Abraham up to exiting Babylon, all of this process that we read about in the Bible, the Torah, all of it is that they are telling us bit by bit, the stages where a part of humanity begins to awaken.

S. But what about us today?

R. Today, us today?

S. Yes, us today, we want to start working with this method.

R. You are jumping ahead today. Well, we today, after the method has been revealed, and we have received it in those ancient times, and we have to continue it today to our conditions.

S. But did we already receive the Torah? Do we already have the Torah?

R. Well you can see that they say that each and every day one should depict himself that he is standing on Mount Sinai and hearing the Ten Commandments, meaning that there is the Matan Torah each and every day, each and every moment and we have to arrange ourselves so as to receive this method, to understand it and to start implementing it, realizing it.

S. So what in today's reality is it called, let's say now to receive the Torah?

R. That we connect in tens, with a desire to connect between us in order to bestow the Upper Light on our connection, to perform actions so that the Upper Light will influence us, and will elevate us to a connection in which we will begin to feel the Upper Force. All in all, the purpose of the giving of the Torah is to reveal the Creator to the created beings in this world and this is what we are drawn to.

5. S. (25:44) I have the same question, a little bit differently. We are reading here that the Torah was not given to our forefathers, the patriarchs. They had to wait until they became a complete nation so that the Torah could be received. What happens to a person from the moment his point in the heart awakens? What needs to take place with him? What needs to happen in his heart until that state which is ready to receive the Torah, what is that process that differentiates between his initial awakening that brings him to a state in which he can receive the Torah?

R. First of all, he has to be in some form connected to the purpose of life, meaning to ask about his purpose in life. He needs to understand that he is living inside of this world among people and somehow he wants to establish himself together with them but in the end the greatest question is who am I living for?

S. Baal HaSulam uses the words, “until they became a complete nation.” I don't know if the words are precise, but is it some kind of state of becoming a complete nation, and then they can observe and receive the Torah. So the search a person has in finding out what I am alive for, how does that make us become a complete nation? Does it help him connect with the friends, what happens there?

R. Well, he finds, he doesn't build it, but he finds himself that he exists in a certain group where he doesn't know how it was suddenly established and he feels that this group is poised, is headed towards the same direction in life as he is directed and he wants to reach the same goal together with them, the purpose of life, what are we living for, what is the secret of life.

S. So it is revealed to him that he's part of a group of a nation and he wants to connect them, meaning a certain revelation that he is part of something bigger?

R. Yes, yes.

6. S. (28:28) At first you talked about a sensation of feeling of being able to feel the Creator. What is that sense?

R. The sense of the feeling of the Creator is that there is something between us that binds us together, connects us, to which we belong and through it we can connect with each other and this sense exists in all people but in some more and others less. And we have to develop this sense so much so that we will feel ourselves that we belong to a single heart.

S. What kind of sense is it?

R. In general you can say that it is a sense of love, love, that's it. That if we are in this inclination, we go through all kinds of different states where we reject and hate and disregard each other until we discover that indeed, we are all connected with each other. Because everything develops from its opposite and so it turns out, it turns out that in such a way when we connect, we by that become as a new nation that did not exist beforehand on the face of the Earth. Because, we all want to have bonds of love above all of the qualities.

S. Does this sense exist in every person?

R. This sense exists in every person, however it depends with which intensity. Therefore, in the end, everyone will discover it. And, the more we enter and get into developing this sense by that they also influence others and then more and more people are drawn to it.

7. S. (31:30) And what adds to the process of correction, this matter we have come to a stage in which we are ready for the giving of the Torah? What element in the change needs to take place in a person in addition for him to be able to? What does he need to have in order to receive the Torah?

R. Well, we are going to learn about that but actually it is considered that a person is ready to enter love of friends, and love of people in general, truly with his eyes shut.

S. What didn't he have before that changed and now is added?

R. He didn't have acceptance of the goal, receiving the method. He didn't have the obligation, the necessity to connect and rise above his ego.

S. Can a person not discover that he has exited Egypt, the fact that he has to run away from his ego?

R. He discovers that seemingly he rises a little bit above his ego. But, this still doesn't compel him to now go and accept in a higher way until the end of correction. These things are always revealed gradually, degrees upon degrees, upon degrees.

S. I understand, that is why I'm asking but what new is born in this degree, in this level. That is what I'm trying to scrutinize?

R. On this degree, when he receives the Torah he takes it upon himself the obligation, the method, the necessity to work for others. It is a transition from the individual feeling, a personal feeling of each and every one, to feeling the nation, the ten. That from this moment on, I am the ten.

8. S. (34:17) So what is actually behind all that’s happening? After all this we will receive this burden? There won't be this burden anymore?

R. No, the burden remains. And, it actually grows stronger but we will be able to take it upon ourselves and continue.

S. Because he says that eventually this burden is my self- love actually?

R. Yes.

S. So what, we won't leave self-love?

R. No. We would just rise above it more and more and it also grows between us more and more according to the rule that, “one who is greater than his friend his inclination is greater.”

9. S. (35:12) What is that state where the heart of a person wants the Torah?

R. That he has a Reshimo [record] inside his desire, the heart means a desire, so a record awakens in his desire that demands the next development. It doesn't happen to everyone and it doesn't happen at once for everyone. But, in those that it does happen, they gather into a group.

S. So about the group, you talked about the individual incorporated with the collective that it becomes a new individual?

R. Yes.

S. What is that new?

R. This new, means that he connects with people like himself and they together enter Arvut.

S. You said at the beginning of your words that the Torah expands the perception, the reception, of a person?

R. Yes, of course. As much as he advances and he tries to rise above his ego and connect with others, which the ego does not let him do, and so he asks, prays, and by that he elevates himself above his will to receive. And, then by arranging the forces in this way, the will to receive and the will to bestow, hatred and love, he begins to understand more and feel more one opposite the other, the forces of reception opposite the forces of bestowal.

10. S. (37:10) It’s not what is a person connected to the Creator, versus a person at the degree of animal.

R. It's not clear because we don't see it and we don't feel it.

11. S. (37:30) We are the first versus the early generations who were more refined. Today, does the person who receives the Torah, does he go through it like all the previous ones?

R. I don't understand that the previous generations were pure or refined. That is not understood to me.

12. S. (37:50) Is it correct to say that I absorb the others or that I disappear inside of them?

R. You can't say that you disappear or dissipate. It is more correct to say absorbed if we are already talking with such words.

13. S. (38:14) I heard that it doesn't matter who they are, men, women or children, if they try to unite with their will to receive they reach bestowal. Is there a difference in the kind of effort that each one of them has to make?

R. Not men, not women, and not children, rather we are talking about desires. I don't think that there can be a desire to rise above the ego in a little child. Women and men, yes, they must if they receive the awakening of their Reshimot, of their records, then to rise with them and to invite the Upper Light to come and impact them in such a way that they will be able to enter into the feeling of the Upper World. Into the feeling of the forces of bestowal.

14. S. (39:15) Should we organize ourselves in such a way that we will begin to develop systems of education based on the methods of connection. Is the time right for it?

R. No, the time has yet to come for that, but I hope it will come.

15. S. (39:42) This great occasion that the ten has before Mount Sinai, the giving of the Torah, is the exodus from Egypt. What does every individual in the ten not do any more from the moment he came out of Egypt so that he doesn't go back to Egypt?

R. First of all they don't connect in the ten. It was like a herd which is simply escaping from the control of Pharaoh and comes to the parting of the Red Sea, and passes through that, and comes to Mount Sinai. It's still nothing that is organized but rather each and every one is under the control of the forces that are operating upon him and are pushing him forward.

S. There is a condition that each one has to meet so that he does not go back to Egypt. What happened there, seemingly individuals came into Egypt but they came out together, so I'm asking what is this “together” where they go out, so that they no longer go back?

R. Because of this external pressure, the fear, as they were afraid to remain under the control of Pharaoh in which they already started to discover the extent in which the force of the ego that controls between us is truly evil.

S. This leads them to this place that you call that each one already sees himself as a ten? Every individual?

R. Yes.

16. S. (41:49) In the giving of the Torah, there is a state where the group has to be in a certain connection, even though there is nothing that is connecting them right now, from above. Meaning, that there has to be some agreement from below meaning that lower part before they go up. There is no force that is connecting them, so there is just some inner agreement. What holds them in that moment? Because it has to be something whole so what is holding them at that state, at that moment, what kind of force is holding them?

R. The Upper Force, the Upper Force. This happens as it is written, “we were as dreamers,” where they don't quite know yet how they are working and what drives them within and what guides them. Rather that is how it is, that is how it happens to them. We can't explain it in words, you can kind of feel it later that all those that are in a state of feeling exile.

S. There has to be some agreement by everyone?

R. No, it's not yet together, there are problems. They are yelling at Moses and Aaron and we read about these things. It's not simple and it doesn't happen together. They don't yet have connection through the upper forces.

17. S. (44:08) What kind of force has to come, what kind of change has to occur in us so that instead of myself I will really feel the ten?

R. This needs to be the Upper Force, the Creator, that connects everyone and corrects everyone, and then everyone feels that they are coming from one root, that only the Creator is the general root between us, and this is how we get to begin to feel and recognize what there is between a person and a ten, and a nation and the Creator.

18. S. (45:30) We are living in a system of Adam ha Rishon. How can we reach such senses that will create in us a deficiency for the importance of asking for the Torah? How can we reach such a deficiency?

R. This is something we need to learn from the others. Each needs to learn from the others. Just like in our life. If we are just like animals, on the degree of animals, then we feel our desire. If we're on the degree of speaking, we start feeling a foreign or strange and alien forces then all kinds of discernments like envy, lust, and honor, push us to raise ourselves and this is how it happens that's why people develop from one generation to the next from and the still, vegetative, and animate do not.

19. S. (46:55) In our ten we need to look at the connection as a spiritual sense and besides what other senses do we need to aspire to have?

R. We just need to want to develop between us connections of love, connections of forces that bring us back to being in one body, just like in Adam HaRishon. We shouldn't forget this should be before us, this system which is called Adam, and in the system we are all just like now; each of us is in his body, that's how we all need to be in one body called Adam, this is what we need to return to. Certainly this is not a corporeal body, it's not a biological mass of a body, but we need to return to that system, we must.

20. S. (48:35) How can I support my friends so that we received the method and reached the revelation of the Creator?

R. This is what we learn in all the material that talks about the social development, the development of the ten, how we should do so. That's already the building of the ten as a society, as a spiritual society.

21. S. (50:09) How can we always remind ourselves and remind each other and try to feel the importance of the Creator's invitation for us?

R. This is through each reminding one another and giving an example of the extent in which he is paying attention in observing it and understanding and developing these tendencies in him.

22. S. (51:00) Does the Creator have any other role in our lives except awakening the point in my heart so that we will rise to aspire to this upper level?

R. The Creator’s role is not to awaken but rather to bring us to complete development which is called the final correction, so that we will be like him, for us to be like him in understanding and attainment, in connection, in our qualities. And this is all in our development in the Torah.

23. S. (51:57) What is the difference between this force that can connect us and the Torah that we want to receive?

R. We want to receive forces in order to rise above our ego and to live on a level that is real, whole, eternal; and this is only possible through this method called the wisdom of Kabbalah or the Torah, we could say. We don't have anything else we can do. Rise above our ego, and try to connect between us to such an extent that the upper force will open up in us.

S. You said now that we need to have a force between us that will connect us so that we can receive the Torah. It's not clear, this force that can give us this connection above our ego, what is the difference between this force and the Torah itself?

R. That's not something we're going to go into scrutinizing - the Torah is a method. It is a method. The upper force is the upper force. That's not for now. And also, it will not be completely understood for the time being.

24. S. (54:17) How will we overcome the sin of self-love?

R. Only by trying to be together and asking for this upper force to connect us. And, then by that the sin disappears, self love disappears - not self love - the rejection, the desire to receive for himself, and then self-love becomes love between us.

25. S. (55:09) Do we not receive the Torah until there are a ten who are ready for it?

R. No, it's written about it that the minimal part of many is two and the optical number is ten.

26. S. (55:20) What does Rabbi Elazar mean when he says, “the world is judged by its majority?” How is this principle related to the principle that says that every person can shift the whole world to the scale of merit?

R. The world follows its majority because it means that you cannot drop on the world some kind of conditions that the world and the people in that generation are not capable of observing. But rather, only after the majority of the world can somewhat sustain it. But on the other hand, there is a small group in which the desire for the Creator awakens in it and it receives the role of connecting, and getting rid of the will to receive that is egoistic between them, and rising to the degree of connection.

Reading item number 21 (56:45)

27. R. (57:35) Meaning first of all we see here that it's talking about the commitment and the obligation of this group that is now receiving the Torah who also extends this to the rest of the world, to the whole world, to all the created beings.

Reading continues.

28. S. (01:01:15) The shifting that he writes about, what exactly was the shifting?

R. The shifting to the scale of merit.

S. Yes to the scale of merit. But he says we reach the shifting, this decision, a few times.

R. That we want each of us, let's say each in his ten to come to a state in which we are all connected as we should be connected, all the people in the world, together.

S. He writes that they become qualified for this shifting and agreeing to say “we shall do and we shall hear.” What is the status, this point where we say “we shall do and we shall hear?”

R. “We shall do and we shall hear,” is considered that first we are willing to do all that is demanded of us and as a result of that we will come to the force of bestowal - we will hear.

S. But before that they were not ready to do everything that was required of them?

R. This condition was unknown to them.

S. What's special about this condition, where does it come from, suddenly?

R. It comes from above, from the heavens, from the Creator. If you do it, here there will be an ascent, and if not, here will be the place of your burial.

S. What exactly, what is the emphasis on, “we shall do and we shall hear?”

R. The emphasis is that we have to do before we understand and feel the result.

S. And why is it that only on this occasion they are standing before such a condition?

R. Because they can bestow to one another and be an example to one another.

S. What does this condition give? The moment that we take upon ourselves, “we shall do and we shall hear,” what does it give us?

R. That they are connected together, “we shall do and we shall hear,” and the fact that they have to be connected together, and then in such a way they can bestow to one another the force of connection.

S. What happens the moment they take upon themselves, “we shall do and we shall hear,” what happens?

R. That each feels that he is responsible for everyone.

S. So receiving the Torah from their point of view, when does it happen? After we take upon ourselves we shall do and we shall hear?

R. Yes, certainly.

S. Why is that so?

R. How could it be that they will receive Torah before they have such a connection between them?

S. So where does the force come from to accept these conditions, this strict thing, “we shall do and we shall hear.” Where comes the strength to take such a condition upon yourself?

R. The force comes from above because they want to observe, “we shall do and we shall hear.” They themselves said first of all, “we shall do and we shall hear.” They feel that this law must be, it has to exist in them to take place.

S. In this condition that “we shall do,” let's say it's clear, but what exactly is, “we shall hear,” what are we expecting to hear?

R. To hear that we will be able to hear the Creator and all his laws and to receive them.

S. How exactly do we hear him, what is that?

R. In the heart, it's all in the heart. Soon he will tell us a little bit more about this.

29. S. (01:05:54) According to what he writes, is it the role of the Israeli nation to pass on the light to the world or to pass on the method of connection to the world.

R. I think that it's both, both the method and also the light itself has to move through them.

Reading item number 22 (01:06:30)

30. S. (01:10:30) It says here because he could not overcome his filthy self-love and also he cannot hold himself, petty lust, so?

R. That even that individual that cannot overcome his small lust impacts the whole world.

S. What can you do if you cannot overcome, he cannot hold himself back, he cannot overcome so what can he do?

R. Nullify before everyone, annul before everyone. Why are you looking at me like that?

S. Filthy self-love awakens in him. His petty lust awakens in him, so it awakened in him, so now what’s next?

R. What's next? In what way to correct us?

S. Yes, it says he cannot hold himself back he cannot overcome, so?

R. He can't but the others can, meaning here's the question, why does the Creator awaken in him such desires, thoughts, qualities, that he really feels himself weakened and also that he has nothing that he can do with them, yes, so he has what to do with them. He must bow his head, connect with everyone, and take upon himself their control, and then they can bestow upon him, subdue him, subjugate him.

31. S. (01:12:45) In the accepting the Arvut is it a matter of critical mass or is it up to the very last person and his sesame seed?

R. I didn't understand what you said.

S. In receiving the Arvut in a group of people is there a matter of critical mass or is it a war up to the very last person, the very last sesame seed?

R. In the reception of Arvut we are demanded to be in Arvut in our degree. It's just like children grow we're the same.

32. S. (01:13:31) About the shifting what he writes here, in corporeality when you pay with something even small you require you demand a reward. You're not going to give up on the reward you're going to fight for it. Here on the path with this many years, many hours, many efforts, seemingly we’re not demanding enough, how can we don't have this demand?

R. Ask yourself?

S. I'm asking, I don't manage to understand how come we don't have it in corporeality on the same level?

R. In corporeality you're working with the evil inclination and then you can demand until you fill it completely whereas in spirituality you don't have such forces. You don't have the force. What can you demand in spirituality? Give me more strength to bestow.

S. What do we want? We invest, we…?

R. We are making efforts but we are not demanding that's the problem.

S. What is it, are we suckers? Why don't we ask, why don't we demand, why isn't the demand coming out naturally, in a natural way?

R. Because it's not the ego, out of the ego it would come out naturally, but it's not the ego it's not an egoistic force and that's why although you are making efforts but after that you don't come back to demand.

S. After all the years, all the efforts, the demand doesn't actually accumulate?

R. The demand accumulates but sometimes it comes out and sometimes it does not.

S. What does it depend on?

R. That depends already on, how should I put it, it depends on the person on his soul.

33. S. (01:15:45) What we read now is that there are actions that are merits, I want to do something good or I overcome not to damage, but in the previous point the scale of merit is the understanding of the benefit for others. What does that mean? It doesn't sound like an action against or for.

R. I don't understand what you're saying.

S. Here he says that on a scale of merit is not an action but an understanding, that the understanding of the benefit of others that it's good.

R. Yes.

S. I don't understand what is this understanding and how it is considered to be a scale of merit?

R. What was the question?

S. It is written and it is understood that a scale of merit in the benefit of others and rises above the self-love, it's not speaking about actions but a high level of understanding and then that we need to do actions for the benefit of others or to overcome and not to damage.

R. Yes.

S. Why is the understanding considered as a scale of merit?

R. Because it helps you decide and demand.

S. To understand it's also an action?

R. It leads to action.

34. S. (01:17:44) It is written that even before the reception of the Torah our forefathers have kept the Torah that they cleaved to the Creator to great tests, they had fear, and then such an event comes that gives us the key of how to rise from below upward towards the love of others and a person cannot overcome and keep it and he cannot keep it for himself but only for the world and he cannot keep it other than with the help of the upper force but also he cannot keep it because it's enough that one sins and he breaks up the entire package, so a key is revealed of how to rise but it feels like mission impossible to use it. What is this addition of the reception of the Torah with the condition of loving others as yourself and you cannot keep it?

R. In the end it is possible to keep it, this condition, why not? The fact that they didn't succeed was in order to know what more needed to be added so that they could keep it.

S. Look what is needed, you need the help of the upper force through a prayer and you need the help of one another because as long as one makes the hole in the boat and sins and it's against human nature and he needs to demand not for himself but for everyone.

R. It will really be in order to bestow, the condition is in order to bestow.

S. It's like you give a child a mission that he has no chance in life to realize it, fly.

R. Well that's according to your mood.

S. What is possible to do in order to…?

R. To grab the friends to hold on to them and not let go of them, that's it, in other words what you're saying now is correct and good and the fact that you came to it is good attainment already and now we just need to know that together with everyone I reach the goal.

35. S. (01:20:52) To continue what was asked earlier, a high understanding maybe it's a different word for a high inner state, a great degree, that he loses and falls from?

R. Let's put it this way.

S. It's the same where he caused a pushback for the entire world it's in his perception some damage that he caused to himself and in his eyes it's as if the entire world takes a step backwards?

R. Yes.

36. S. (01:21:50) When the Creator acts there is a value to a person's understanding, what a great gift, so what value is there to understanding?

R. The Creator wanted man to understand and rise to His level to actually His level, so that he would be an adhesion.

S. Yes, but adhesion is qualities not just knowing too much like a Nudnik.

R. No, it's also to know, know the Lord your God.

S. Only the continuation isn’t working.

R. So what? You need to know to attain, to feel, to understand, to speak with Him face to face.

S. Yes, but this understanding that he speaks of here isn't quite a state of standing before Him face to face. Knowing if it's something that's opposite to us then what value is it to knowing and understanding?

R. Not ours, we understand Him, we come closer to the Creator in order to understand Him and this is our goal.

37. S. (01:23:30) He writes here about an impression in the beginning of 22 and I wanted to ask, what is this factor that is called an impression?

R. Impression or inspiration, inspiration is a force that allows you to rise from degree to degree.

S. What is the degree of inspiration, impression that a person…?

R. The degree of inspiration is the extent to which a person appreciates the higher level, the degree of the Creator above himself.

S. If a person doesn't feel an inspiration at a time when he was in a Mitzvah.

R. He cannot do it.

S. He can't fulfill it but in our degree we can do actions and sometimes we feel inspiration and sometimes we don't, what does it depend on?

R. If we don't feel inspiration we cannot do it, the execution without inspiration is not regarded as doing.

S. Here he gives the example, he writes as follows, that impression a person feels while engaging in Mitzvot commandments between man and the Creator, what does he want to share with us?

R. Does someone understand what he's asking?

S. What does he want to prove to us that he's going to share the same impression here and there, what does it prove to us?

R. I don't understand.

S. He wants to prove something and as a proof he uses inspiration, what does he want to prove to us?

R. Where is it written that you're asking?

S. In the beginning of 22.

R. This is what Rabbi Elizar and Rabbi Shimon quotes from the writings, “when a sinner destroys much good it's already been explained that the impression that comes to a person when engaging in commandments between man and the Creator is completely the same as the impression he gets one engaging in commandments between man and man.

S. We're not really using at a time where we want to weigh something, actions, and so we're not using this perception that's called inspiration and if you want to make sure that this is the same you can use inspiration, this is the same.

R. The fact that a person is inspired by having engagements with the Creator should be the same level of inspiration that he gets from that he gets from the friend.

38. S. (01:27:48) If I do not reach bestowal what actions should I do in order to be responsible for the friends and care for the 10?

R. We care about what we are concerned about what we can observe, what we can do. We have to position ourselves and establish ourselves in such a way that each one will be responsible for the other, holding the others. And in this way each 10 holds the other tens and this is what we can do.

39. S. (01:28:47) I have a little confusion, to receive the Torah I understand it's the first spiritual degree and I also understand that Torah is light and the method is how to reach mutual guarantee in order to receive the Torah. Now you said that the Torah is a method through which you received the method. Can you explain to me please?

R. Torah is the upper light that comes to us and helps us be above the will to receive, unite together, be in bestowal. The Torah is all the light that comes from the Creator to the created beings.

S. The light is in complete rest and through our efforts for connection and mutual guarantee is this a way that we awaken the light to reach us?

R. Yes. The light is in complete rest because it has constantly only one direction to help us, to elevate us, to support us that's it.

40. S. (01:30:02) There seems to be a contradiction. In the passage it reads one is obliged to perform all the mitzvot Lishma, meaning that no light or hope returns to him. Yet, at the same time we're trying to come to this unified cry and demand to draw the light and receive the Torah which is a huge reward. So it seems contradictory according to the passage and the actions were trying to achieve. Can you explain please?

R. Let's do it and then we will see. There are lights that come as lights of Commandments and lights that come as light of the Torah and then we will see what is the connection between them and how they can add to one another.

41. S. (01:32:17) What quality do I get through the passage of the screen.

R. The quality of bestowal when you cross the barrier.

42. S. (01:32:54) Please tell us how to feel that you are your gift is in the lack of a of reward?

R. Advance and you will feel it.

43. S. (01:33:15) I heard earlier that you said that the problem is that we don't demand the reward for our effort for our labor. What is the content and what is the correct demand of the Creator?

R. From the Creator we need to demand only to rise in the quality of bestowal, which include how much closer we come between ourselves and how much closer we move towards him.

S. So for our labor a person needs to demand to rise in the qualities of bestowal and ask for the entire 10 for this to be the reward?

R. I didn’t understand. A person needs to ask to have the strength to perform acts of bestowal and this will be to him as reward.

S. He asks this for himself or his entire ten?

R. Both for himself and the entire ten.

S. And I heard you saying earlier that we don't have the strength to demand because this is spirituality not corporeality.

R. I don't know where you took this from. Of course, we're asking for everyone.

S. Yes, but where is the strength, the force to stand before the Creator and demand the reward for the labor and not to say oh it will be okay.

R. This is what you're saying, we are not learning this. We ask, we turn to the Creator to give us the strength to be able to overcome our evil inclination and be in mutual help with everyone.

44. S. (01:35:28) I want to explain myself better than before. If you are dealing with understanding, that you're taking away from faith and if you understand then okay, you are in your degree. You've gotten some scrutiny, some discernment for your degree, but you're not advancing in faith because faith brings us to adhesion.

R. I understand. You've got a point. We will continue and we will see how they exist together both faith and knowledge.

S. They add to one other?

R. Yes.

S. always faith has to..

R. Right, but there has to be knowledge too.

45. S. (01:36:37) To continue the question from a friend, what does it mean to understand the Creator?

R. To understand the Creator to the extent that we acquire the same qualities. We understand him, we feel him and as it is written “know the Lord your God and serve him” and then we take upon ourselves all those duties that the Creator seemingly used to do.

S. How to begin with such a high thing?

R. How to begin?

S. With such a high thing, yeah.

R. Simply start. Again and again and again try and try and try. As much as you can. Like a little boy who keeps trying and trying until he knows how to do it, that's it. There's no other way. The Creator himself teaches us.

46. S. (01:38:27) I will do anything for my 10 to receive the Torah and I pray for this to happen as quickly as I can. Is there a way to hasten the process? What else can I do?

R. Hasten the process as much as possible, hasten the process. By all means, it's possible. It's in your hands.

S. Is it correct to say in the Torah that it is both a connection, a system of connection, and the light that flows into the system.

R. Yes.

S. Is it also correct to say that the system of connection is faith and the light that flows is knowledge?

R. I guess you could put it this way, but I didn't read it or see it.

S. It feels that faith is the vessel we build between us and the light can flow which is the knowledge.

R. For the time being let's think that this is so.

47. S. (01:40:11) About the sesame seeds that he writes there, it seems that I am taking the sesame seeds all the time and then occasionally maybe put how should I look at it, it says that a righteous sins a thousand times and gets up. Do we..

R. Do we take and put back, take and put back?

S. To me it seems like I'm always taking, me! I'm not talking about others. It seems that I'm taking a thousand, maybe at the end I can put one. So when will be such a state that I can add. We always demerit before we can do something good. I take the sesame seed and then I put it back? I don't understand this thing.

R. Only through the friends. How can you do this alone?

S. Clearly we're talking about the friends and the work between us. I just don't understand this allegory. Will we ever reach a state where we will do more Commandments than demerits? Is there such a thing?

R. It's a question, it is a question. Right now we cannot talk about it. Write it down and we will do it tomorrow.

48. S. (01:41:58) When Israel received the Torah they did and then they heard and then they received the written Torah from Moses. What does it mean for us, in our current state that we received the Torah now?

R. For the upper light to dress in us, in our vessels and shine for us in those vessels. And we understand how it fills all of our desires and then those desires begin to be in order to give and that's it.

S. Is it possible to receive something as a confirmation that we've received the Torah?

R. We still haven't found, haven't received, haven’t acquired the Torah because the Torah is the general light. And then we understand correctly and well what to do and what not to do and what way we are advancing towards the end of correction.

49. S. (01:43:28) On the matter of sesame seeds, is there a way that we can tell how many sesame seeds we’re putting in versus how many we're taking out?

R. Of course you can check it. According to your connection with the friends, according to the connection with the friends.

S. But how do we truly check that connection with the friends, because our ego is always trying to make us think that we are when we're not?

R. How do we check it? Only by constantly thinking about everyone and not about ourselves.

50. S. (01:44:39) What is Mount Sinai mean? Currently we need help. We need help in Europe. I feel a sense of heaviness. This Passover the number of friends that appear in the morning lesson have reduced significantly and it won’t ease us. We need help. We've been praying. A few of us have talked and exchanged messages and said we don't know what is happening in Europe? It feels like a sense of heaviness. Sometimes I come to this morning lesson; All I do, I don't even listen to the lesson. I just pray because it is very heavy, what we feel, at the moment. How can we move from the State?

R. What is bad for you? What is bad for you?

S. Bad is.. well there's a sense that this is an opportunity to bestow, to connect, to pray for the friends, to help us to connect even more. But the bad, it's not bad, it's just like it worries. It is like what do we need to do to connect at a deeper level to be back higher than where we were before. Obviously, we know we have been given this state for a reason and there is a sense that this is the right state for us, but how do we use this state to go even higher?

R. What do you need? What are you lacking in order to rise higher?

S. It feels to me that I don't even know how to express it. I feel like in Europe we need to have a convention and meet again. The last time we had this convention was in Bulgaria and I just have this feeling that maybe you will have another Convention where we will meet again so that we we can walk again as we used to before Corona.

R. By all means! Who stops you from having Congress and that everyone will come?

S. (01:47:37) We heard it, we all heard it. We are going to talk to the manager and try to put it into practice, to put it together to strengthen the friends. What do you think?

R. I have nothing to think. It all works according to their desire. I don't decide from one day to the next that we are going to have a Congress.

S. What should I say? That since Passover, what she is feeling is a decline in Europe so how do we strengthen the friends in Europe? She has a Congress, a solution that will help?

R. Let them do a Convention close to them so that as many people as possible can come physically. We will support it. We will also come. Madam Sheila where does she live, England?

S. Yaakov is updating that in the Asian Congress coming up July 1st, there are several large gatherings planned in Europe in the World Congress that the Asian groups are putting together so there is opportunity.

R. Very well. What can we do friends? We have to get stronger and be more connected between us.
