Passover - Selected Excerpts from the Sources. (“Who” and “What” Questions. #80)

Passover - Main page for all chapters

1. Rav’s Introduction: (00:15) Yes, we will advance in that we have a lot of materials left in the time that we have until Passover. Let's hope that we will be able to absorb all of this atmosphere and the inner charge because without that we will not be able to carry out the Pesach itself, Pesach, skipped over, and in that way to shift, transition from Egypt, from in order to receive to Israel, to Yashar-El, to in order to bestow. So, please.

Reading Excerpt #80 (01:04) “The order of one's work in Torah..”

2. R. (03:18) Yes, so to overcome and go against nature and to work not for his own benefit, this is our first work for the benefit of others for the sake of the Creator in such a gradual manner we have to go through it and to believe that the Creator receives his labor, that he helps the person to actualise it. Yes, actually this is our work, this is the process that we have to go through.

3. S. (04:00) There's an emphasis here on the friend receiving your efforts. What is that?

R. That you, with all of your heart, want to come closer to him and include him in all your feelings.

S. This is work on my part. What is the work on the friends' part?

R. That your friend should see how much you are drawn to connection with him and he will also, will want to be connected with you so it will be mutual.

S. What does it mean he receives my effort?

R. He sees that you are making an effort and you want to come close to him and he necessarily answers you, he begins to understand that you are doing spiritual work and in the connection with him you will reach the goal and he therefore, also enters a connection with you and he goes towards you and he wants to reach the goal in the connection with you.

S. There's a level of work it seems and there's a level of connection between us, well when does that level come? When behind all these actions we receive?

R. Well if you feel it towards the ten or even to the entire world Kli it is not an incident, it is according to the root of our soul and we have to realize it. Nevertheless, we belong to a single source, a single place and there is no chance here. But rather it is all calculated according to the roots of reality. According to how shall I put it, the depth and the character and all kinds of elements that we are not yet aware of. That we specifically awaken and later on that we are being gathered into nations and groups and a special kind of nearing to each other in a special manner of each and everyone, corporeal manner, it's not by chance it is all precalculated from above and we just need to express our desire that we want to be together as ‘one man with one heart.’

And this is actually our duty and it's a great shame if we don't understand that because truly we have an opportunity that may not come back, that today we can determine our spiritual path and our goal and what will be in the future. Who knows when this will come back to us that same love of the Creator with the same guidance, with the same push: we don't know that. And so we need to very quickly, as quickly as possible, each one should find his way to the heart of the friend and their to try to connect with him and inside of this connection to connect with the Creator and to do that with the entire ten or with less than ten, as many as we have in a group, it is not so important but later on we'll see what is a true ten, it's not according to the number of the bodies but rather according to spiritual discernments but it always ends up that we are seemingly in tens.

4. S. (09:00) How will we know to work correctly if we don’t know and don't see what is the benefit over the others, our friends?

R. Well, it's enough for us what we feel and study. I need to do everything towards each and everyone in the world but mostly it's in the group, in order for us together to reach the purpose of creation because I cannot reach it alone and besides that even if I could do it alone, I want everyone to reach there because that's the Creator’s will. And so this is how we need to guide ourselves.

S. How do we know that we will not benefit ourselves and everyone else will benefit? Is this true bestowal?

R. Yes, as true as it is, we will never know what it means, true bestowal, only at the end of correction when we all complete each other then we will understand what the truth is. For the time being it is all as much as we are capable of.

5. S. (10:43) He points to the order of the work and and then who, who is it for and we usually say, there is who and then what?

R. Yes, that doesn't matter as much as we feel the need, the necessity for this action or that action, then we operate.

6. S. (11:19) It says in the first line that we have to fight and defeat the evil inclination. What does it mean to fight when you always feel like the Creator is fighting?

R. I feel my own egoistic character and I feel that it is obstructing me from connecting with the friends and it is repelling me from them and it always makes me feel above them instead of below, as Rabash writes in his social articles. And so then it turns out that I need to fight with that, otherwise I will never have the correct connection with my environment and I will never be able to become incorporated in them and expand my spiritual Kli.

7. S. (12:15) By working on strengthening the connections in the ten do we work towards achieving the purpose of creation?

R. Certainly, the purpose of creation is attained only through tight connection among everyone. Therefore, this is what we should try to reach even though we are not capable of it but together with the Creator according to our demands He does arrange it for us.

8. S. (13:20) It turns out that I have to love the friends and without it I can't reach the purpose of creation?

R. Yes, certainly this is what is written, ‘from the love of people, to the love of the Creator,’ the love of the Creator is the goal.

S. The question is: it says when a person is told just love them, it doesn't matter who they are or what they are, nothing matters, if you love them no one will know about it and you will reach the purpose of creation?

R. Yes, of course what does it matter if people know about it or don't know about it? What is important is that you feel that you love them because this testifies about the connection and in the connection with them you'll discover the Creator.

S. It's like there's no reciprocity here on their part it all depends on the individual?

R. Yes, yes.

9. S. (14:33) The part at the end is not so clear, why working for others and that they receive my labor is the claim of the wicked. Why, if you bestow to someone you want them to enjoy what you're doing, why is this the argument of the wicked one?

R. When a person overcomes it and claims that he wants to work against nature and bestow upon the Creator, the evil inclination comes with a different argument, as in the question of the wicked Pharaoh, ‘Who is the Lord, that I should obey his voice.’ It is possible to work for the sake of others only where I know that the other receives the labor. However if he has two labors etc.. So what are you asking?

S. Why when the others receive my labor, it is the argument of the wicked, why is that a problem?

R. Why is that wrong? Because I want to see results for my effort and this is wrong. I need to put in effort only in a single direction and not expect and not wait out of it for any self benefit. Otherwise, it's not bestowal.

S. It then says, if he has two efforts, in the second item, ‘he must believe that the Creator received his labor.’ So with respect to the Creator, he does need to know?

R. Not to know but to believe that the Creator receives his labor.

S. Can you explain this item?

R. There's nothing to explain. I need to do each and everything in order to get closer to the friends and unite with them and invest in them and that work should be unilateral, one direction. I give and bestow I invest in them, why? This is what the Creator wants and what will I get out of it? I will have nothing besides the fact that I am actualizing the Creator’s desire.

10. S. (18:02) Is it possible to say that as I see in my friends I'm in that state of love towards them?

R. It's hard to say because you don't see either this or that.

11. S. (18:28) How can we hold closely and tightly to the group when we feel that we are pushed or repelled outwards by the group?

R. Well, of course, certainly, specifically upon that you feel like you are being pushed away from the group, you perform actions against that, in connecting with the group. And in such a way you do the work, you invest all of your forces in that as much as possible and then you reach the goal that your connection will be upon the rejection. Meaning there will be coarseness there, rejection and above it there will be connection, right. And then within such a connection you will start to discover the Creator.

12. S. (19:40) Is it possible to work for the others only, is it a question of Pharaoh, that a person can only work if he really asks for the others or if he sees the outcome in the others?

R. Yes, this is the argument of Pharaoh that the person is an egoist and he can only work if he sees an egoistic profit.

13. S. (20:57) In these questions that you get from Pharaoh, from the evil inclination, these what and who questions, are there also questions, let's say from the good inclination’s side that would balance these questions of the what and the who?

R. No, why is that missing?

S. Because I can imagine in the scrutiny before you come to faith above reason and there's a balancing situation where there is free choice, that you can choose in your scrutinies that you need both sides, the good and the evil inclination together, before you can, let’s say raise to faith above reason. What are the scrutinizing questions from the good side to balance to the evil inclination?

R. I understand him and this will truly come, but later when there will be a need for the balance between these two forces but not for the time being.

14. S. (22:22) How can we do the work in the ten as the two kinds of work written in the text so that it will bring the right kind of work in the ten?

R. In the desire to connect with the friends I need to work on the connection and I need to work against the rejection. Both mine as well as theirs and so here there is a place for all kinds of relations and in this scrutiny we can scrutinize everything. That's it.

15. S. (23:28) How do we detach the results from the labor?

R. By wanting only to see the entire group as one circle, tight with each other and ready to receive the Creator among them.

S. What's your expectation then, what results are you working for, when you work you can't work for nothing?

R. That the ten will be one.

16. S. (24:03) What does it mean to believe that the Creator receives his labor?

R. That everything that I asked for, for sure the Creator gives a response, that my question alone already evokes a response from the Creator to me.

17. S. (24:35) A person who wants to bestow immediately feels this feeling of what is the reward. Now from the moment this feeling arises, what is the work now, what should he think?

R. What he receives from the Creator, continuing connection and unity among the friends and with the Creator; he has no other purpose but actually it is the opposite, not to turn to all kinds of sideways where seemingly one has to scrutinize something else. I don't care, I am not interested in how connected we are and in which manner we are and in which manner we are not: I want connection because in the connection, I will discover and know everything.

S. Meaning at this point we have to put in more effort?

R. Yes, all the time we have to put pressure on the same point of connection in the center between us and there we want to discover the Creator.

18. S. (26:08) In this excerpt something very interesting is described. It is like a person is a pendulum and he has to decide what Kelim, what tools do I have. To decide if I work for the Creator, if I bring contentment because I am still in the will to receive, the Torah is supposed to give me the lights of correction or the surrounding lights that will give me more feelings, more emotions so, what other tools do I have to have to aid my scrutinies here?

R. If one is lacking tools or means he will receive them along the way.

Reading Excerpt #81 (27:00) “When there is an evil inclination...” twice.

19. R. (31:06) Yes, this means that if the evil inclination is truly revealed in a person then eventually he needs the Torah in order to help him to rise above the evil inclination and reach the good inclination; in order to bestow. But if he doesn't have the evil inclination, if it hasn't developed in him yet, then he will not need the Torah; he will not need the wisdom of Kabbalah. And so leave him alone, don't put pressure on him and don't even disclose it to him.

20. S. (31:48) To what depth does the evil inclination need to become revealed so that I really need the Torah and what does it mean that it becomes revealed to me, the evil inclination?

R. That you will see that you are entirely dead and you have no good thought about anyone, towards anyone but rather it is all only for your own benefit. And in that you will feel very bad, this is because the upper light already shines on you with its nature of bestowing and then you will feel how much you are the opposite of it. According to that you will feel bad. And then you will need the Torah.

S. I am now trying to connect with my friends. I like to think of them in my thoughts and plans to think about myself to do this to do that, is that how the evil inclination appears?

R. Yes, the evil inclination is what pulls you to the opposite direction of connection.

S. This is what pulls me aside to some thoughts about myself to not connect with the friends?

R. Yes, but this is still not in the opposite direction.

S. What is the opposite direction?

R. When you feel that it is truly the opposite. It's not just obstructing you: it's actually the opposite.

S. And I have to really discover that?

R. You will have to discover it, and this will be your evil inclination, in this way it kind of creeps up.

S. And until that moment I don't need the Torah?

R. Of course you don't. Who needs the Torah? Just because someone wants to learn what is written there, then he is not studying the Torah, he is studying the book in which it is written. The Torah is the light that works on us. It works on man's evil inclination and corrects it into good; from hatred to love.

S. Meaning hatred is supposed to be revealed, yes?

R. Your internality should be revealed: who you are, yes inside of you and for you.

21. S. (34:55) How do I recognise that I am doing a good job if I don't care about the outcome of my work?

R. You want to expect results of course, for the time being we are in this state where we do expect results. That the evil inclination will be revealed in us and that we, out of that will overcome it and we'll ask for the good inclination and the Creator will replace for us the evil inclination with the good inclination through the reforming light. And in this way we will reach the purpose of creation, the purpose of the correction.

22. S. (35:50) When I cope with a natural event like an earthquake, I can understand it comes from the Creator and then I can be angry at myself for building a house in a place where there are earthquakes but how can accept that all of my efforts to connect with the friends, all the failures also are from the Creator?

R. Bit-by-bit you begin to discover that all these things come to you from the Creator, that everything comes from the Creator.

23. S. (36:48) We learnt that a question is actually a Kli and according to the questions of who and what and the excerpt I conclude that it's basically a vessel for the greatness of the Creator. And we learn that the vessel is always opposite to the fulfillment that it wants to receive. How do we receive questions of who and what and how do we receive the greatness of the Creator each time anew?

R. We have to operate as the Kabbalists advise us, meaning to always yearn to come closer to the Creator in spite of the state that we go through then we will discover everything. It doesn't work according to some philosophy or mathematics but rather according to the actions.

24. S. (38:00) The revelation of the evil inclination happens before the barrier or after the barrier. As much as I heard it's about a new level?

R. The revelation of the evil inclination occurs before the barrier.

25. S. (38:24) Why is it important that a person will understand the work for the Creator without expecting a reward and payment and how can the Torah help him achieve that?

R. If he will remain in his will to receive then certainly he will look forward for a reward all the time so that into his will to receive he will receive some filling. If his will to receive for himself will be replaced by a will to bestow to others, that specifically as much as he bestows to others he will feel that this is his filling, this actually is what he intends as a reward, what he feels as a reward. And then it turns out that he doesn't need anything but only to receive an opportunity to fill others and when he fills others he feels the reward.

We can give an example even though it's not a true one that it is like a mother who gives her baby food, so when the baby eats and eats and finishes the porridge or whatever she prepared for him, how much she herself becomes satiated, full how pleased she is in that the baby received this from her. Meaning the feeling of giving can be even more filling to the vessels of reception.

26. S. (40:55) When we scrutinize or explain those relations where he says that the Creator, the Torah and Israel are one but on the other hand we know that Pharaoh and the Creator are opposite forces but here it says that they are a single force. So my question is about the process of correction: we learn the theory each and every day and we are also constantly revealing in our ten, so where is this synchronization created between the revelation of evil within me and the gratitude to the Creator? Does it happen only when we do the work in the ten or can it also happen to me during the day, in some other time?

R. It can happen at any other time, also that I think about myself and the purpose of creation and the Creator and the environment and I want to tie these things together in a single process towards the purpose of creation. Then I discover that it is all arranged in such a way, to that extent I also feel gratitude and I feel respect towards the Creator for making it so.

27. S. (43:13) Can we say that the correction is an agreement with the Creator justifying the Creator?

R. Yes.

S. That everything that He does with us, I agree with it, and it also changes my consciousness towards the world?

R. Yes, as a result you change in such a way that you absolutely justify the Creator.

28. S. (44:07) What does it mean, ‘Hence open for Him.’ Who opens, whose operation is that?

R. The Creator opens the person's heart.

S. He opens his heart towards the friends or he opens it to see the evil in him.

R. Both this and that, it doesn't matter, he opens the heart.

S. And this is something that we can do in order to help the Creator in this operation?

R. Yes, go forward and ask to connect.

S. Ask for the revelation of evil or ask for something else?

R. Ask for everything, why is this not clear? When we ask, we ask to get closer, to do something so it will open up for us. It's as though your requests are so precise that you only want this, for him to do this in you and not more.

29. S. (45:16) According to the excerpt number 81, faith with reward and punishment, believing in reward and punishment means that the evil is concealed and then the person doesn't need the Torah, but Baal HaSulam writes to us that before the study the student must pledge to grow stronger in his belief of the guidance of reward and punishment. So the friend is asking how do you relate to reward and punishment?

R. That I hope through the study that I will reach a connection with the friends and in our connection, inside my connection with the friends, I will discover the spiritual reality.

30. S. (46:19) What does it mean to not believe in reward and punishment?

R. Not to believe in reward and punishment, that I do not expect that I will have a response from above for my efforts, my pleas, and my prayers.

31. S. (46:59) In this process of the recognition of evil and fighting with it, how can we keep this boundary that you won't become what you're fighting against, but constantly stay away from the evil with your recognition of it, so you use it as a vessel but it will not overcome you?

R. Say it again but slower.

S. In this process, when we get to know the evil and we fight against it, how do we keep the balance so that we don't identify with it and let it overcome us, but only use it as a vessel or a tool, use the evil as a vessel or a tool?

R. We have to always be connected between us and strengthen the connection between us further and further and then we will have no problem to turn the other way.

S. What do you mean by become inverted or turn the other way?

R. To in order to receive.

32. S. (48:21) When we reach this path we reach it with the evil inclination, which is closed and concealed, so if it is so how will we be able to develop our relations with the evil inclination in order to advance on the path?

R. With connection between the friends, when we want to connect between us in the group and create between us a mutual positive connection; then, we will feel how much disturbances we have and this will be the evil inclination that doesn't allow us to connect. And so, we will need to do all kinds of actions that we are studying about now.

Reading Excerpt #82We need to know that when a person..”

33. R. (51:07) Well this one is clear to us. Next.

Reading Excerpt #83A person wanting to go within reason..”

34. S. (52:22) If the connection is the means for the revelation of the Creator, then in order to be a pipeline or a conduit for the Creator's light all that's needed is a correct intention to bestow?

R. Yes. Exactly right.

S. S. (52:47) In excerpt 82, he speaks about one who begins to work on the light of Lishma (for her sake) and in excerpt 83, he talks about one who wants to go within reason. So in both of them regardless, these questions come up of ‘Who is the Lord that I should obey His voice?’ and ‘What is this work that you do?’ So, what is the difference between these two kinds of work and where does the change take place?

R. The change is in the place, it is right in place. What is more closed for you 83? We will read.

Rav reading: A person wanting to go within reason is called the sin of the tree of knowledge. If he follows his mind, his reason, this sin appears in two ways, in two questions that extend from it: 1. Pharaoh's question who asked: ‘Who's the Lord that I should obey his voice?’, meaning it is hard for him to believe anything that contradicts reason. That is clear. That is Pharaoh's question. That is how our reason, our mind is built. Another thing extends from it: 2. ‘Why should one work to benefit the Creator and not himself?’, because he's asking what will I gain by working for the sake of the Creator and not for my own sake.

S. (54:19) He writes, when a person wants to go within reason, so how do these questions even come up if he's going within reason?

R. No, but he has a tendency to go above reason, otherwise you wouldn't distinguish or discern that it is within reason.

S. So how can we recognize which way my inclination is going and how can I increase my inclination to work for the sake of the Creator, because it says nevertheless these questions do come up and they bring a person down. So, how can we overcome these questions if one wants to work on the line of for her sake?

R. Oh, to go on the path of for her sake is to break its teeth, to go by force. You have no way to go forward. You have no way to go forward.

S. So what can I do?

R. Only as it's written, break its teeth.

S. What does that mean? What should I do?

R. That you're going without an answer. You're going because that's what the sages wrote for you and thus you will succeed; otherwise, go down to the beastly level and continue to enjoy beastly life.

S. How can I be certain I'm going the right direction?

R. You can be certain you're going in the right direction only by going above reason. There's no thousand ways to go above reason, there's just one way. You each time receive your reason and you need to go against it meaning to go in a different opposite direction.

S. Does it matter what the opposite direction is or so as long as it's against my reason, it's good.

R. You don't have many ways against reason. You either go with your reason, that's one way or you go against your reason which is another way, the opposite way.

36. S. (56:39) The question of ‘Who is the Lord that I shall obey his voice?’ it also comes in the opposite way that the Creator is asking because I pray and ask the Creator for something. Instead of giving me what I am asking for, he tells me ‘Who are you that I should listen to your voice?’ So what do we do with such disregard from the Creator?

R. I didn't understand you.

S. The question ‘Who is the Lord that I shall obey his voice?’ Sometimes it comes in the opposite manner. I ask the Creator for something and the Creator tells me, ‘Who are you that I should obey your voice?’

R. How does he turn some things around, he's good at manipulating things around?

S. I ask the Creator for something, I pray and instead of him a granting my request, he's telling me with disregard ‘Who are you that I should listen to your prayer?’

R. That's not the question. This is what the person asks, what the evil inclination asks ‘Who is the Creator that I should obey his voice?’

S. What happens in the opposite case? If the Creator instead of answering he is seemingly  telling me, ‘Who are you that I should even listen to you?’

R. I don't know. Bring me a different Torah and I'll tell you what's written there. I don't have one for now.

37. S. (57:59) In order to go with faith above reason, do we have to determine and get into the work with the recognition of evil within reason? So that later on we can make an inner effort, conscious effort in faith above reason?

R. It's necessary to do something.

S. Because otherwise, if we don't have these scrutinies and we simply go straight with faith above reason, maybe it would be below reason?

R. Yes.

38. S. (58:48) A person wants to get into contact with the Creator, to get to know him, to feel him. What's so bad about the question, ‘Who is the Lord that I should obey his voice?’ What's wrong with it?

R. There's nothing bad about it. You just won't receive any answer. You will get an answer only in the event that you reveal the Creator, attain the Creator. And attaining the Creator is gradual to the extent that you connect with him in all his actions on you.

S. So it turns out that I just want to understand the formula of this question that forces us to rise higher. What exactly is this question?

R. ‘Who is the Creator that I should obey his voice?’ In the world there is a certain desire or power that I have to bow my head towards it. Why? and what for? Where does it come from and what does it require of me? Why does it exist to begin with?

S. I don't want to surrender right?

R. Of course, to begin with we don't want to. That is called the evil inclination.

S. But we reach the wisdom and we reach the study because we want to be connected with this force?

R. We want to discover our destiny. We want to discover our destiny. That's why it's of interest to us. It interests us. We come to the wisdom of Kabbalah not to bow our head to something or someone, that's what believers do. We come to the wisdom to discover the laws and rules of creation and how they work on us and how we can be in connection and interaction with them, meaning we don't come in order to bow our head, but in order to know. And that these are different things.

S. We have to bring ourselves to a state where we want to serve him?

R. No. The Creator doesn't want us to lower ourselves towards him. He wants us to be his partners.

S. That's exactly my question. There's two questions in these excerpts. They sound as something negative above which we have to rise, to strike these questions by the teeth, what's wrong with these questions and why are they bad and why do we have to strike it if we want to adhere to the Creator.

R. Because these questions are willing to throw us out of the path. Think about it some more.

39. S. (01:02:11) On the one hand the feeling of giving can fulfill the vessels of reception even more, on the other hand, as much as we bestow to the other we feel that it is his fulfillment. So how can we notice or distinguish between giving that fills our vessels of reception versus filling the others vessels of reception?

R. We have to connect to the friend and as we connect with the friend we then feel what we have to pass on to him in order to fulfill him, in order to help him and that's how it works.

40. S. (01:03:10) The question of who and why, are they designed to strengthen faith above reason, is that the purpose of those questions, is to strengthen our faith?

R. Yes, of course, that of all our actions are in order to reinforce faith above reason, meaning that the power of bestowal will be above the power of reception and always cover it ,cover the force of reception and then we remain in bestowal.

41. S. (01:03:58) About the Creator the person asks who is the Lord, why should I obey his voice? Why don't we ask about our ego and why should I obey its voice? How come we're it’s slaves?

R. To begin with we are slaves to our ego, to the Creator, actually it doesn't matter to the Creator and ultimately, we come to a state where we're not slaves to the ego but are slaves to the Creator, meaning that we want to be in order to bestow with all the actions above reason.

S. How can a person begin to doubt his ego, how can he begin to doubt how come I'm listening to it, how come I'm enslaved?

R. The Creator awakens this point inside of us; this is what's called the point in the heart.

S. And how can we more quickly doubt it and become liberated from it?

R. How can we do it? By the group, by the group.

S. I don't understand how the group comes into this realm of my inner discernments of the rejection from the ego?

R. If I connect to them they can help me exit my individual ego.

S. But seemingly I can ask for connection within the ego, I can think that I love them and ask to connect with them. Where does this collide with my ego?

R. For now it doesn't, later it will. To the extent that we connect between us, we receive more and more strength and forces to be above our ego.

42. S. (01:06:22) You said in your answer to the friend, that the point in the heart recognizes the evil. That this is something that the Creator gives us, he awakens a point in the heart so it can feel that the ego, or the will to receive for oneself is bad. Then one can detect Pharaoh and Hamanand all of those. What is the difference between the ego detecting that it feels bad and the point in the heart detecting that it feels bad, or something is bad for it?

R. The point in the heart is the inclination towards the Creator and our ego is the opposite, it's the tendency towards the ego which is something opposite to the Creator. Think about that and try to feel that.

43. S. (01:07:25) Specifically the separation, the disconnection from the end result is what can help us draw the lights without putting your head into it or taking part in it?

R. You can say so.

44. S. (01:08:02) When I correct myself do I fulfill others by that?

R. Yes, if you correct yourself through you, you can and do actually fulfill the others, otherwise you don't correct yourself . Our entire correction is in how I become connected to others, it's like in a general collective system that we're all interconnected in it and if I don't fulfill the others, I'm also detached from that system.

45. S. (01:08:56) You said that instead of being slaves to the ego we become slaves to the Creator but it also says that He wants us to be His partners, can you explain that: slaves versus partners?

R. I want to be a partner and a servant and a helper to the Creator. It doesn't matter in what role, just to be towards Him and next to Him, that is our entire goal, basically.

S. It doesn't matter how it's defined?

R. Later we discover and see exactly what we can be and what I should become.

S. Meaning, one time I can be a partner and another time a servant, as long as I'm connected with him?

R. You can say so, it's also written this way; a servant of the Creator.

46. S. (01:10:00) When a question comes up, ‘And who is the Lord, I should obey his voice’ or ‘What is this work that You do,’ when this question comes up, do I open it up in the ten?

R. Yes, of course both open it and solve it and achieve a complete solution and the goal.

S. This is a state that is happening to us today, really this is a lesson that is entering states that actually came up in our ten recently.

R. Good, good luck.

S. It also awakened a lot of criticism, inner criticism and a dialogue that wasn't so simple, so how do we create a state which is a more connected state in the ten rather than have this kind of dialogue?

R. Only to try and work together, each one from his point but more or less towards the same goal as much as everyone understands it, but if you've already reached that, then keep going.

47. S. (01:12:12) It seems to me that this is too big, that the Creator intended to be sure of my actions, so my duty is to believe above reason that the Creator is interested in every moment of every small action of mine?

R. Yes, because we are inside Him, it is said our heart will rejoice in Him. There's no problem that we come to achieve the level of the Creator and to sympathize with the Creator and will be able to feel the Creator entirely in all of His relation towards the created beings.

48. S. (01:13:25) I feel the evil in every step of the way. I try to do whatever I can to connect to the ten without understanding how it is going to help me. Am I supposed to feel that I'm getting rid of Pharaoh gradually or at once?

R. Are you connected to us everyday?

S. Yes.

R. If you're connected every day then you are advancing with us and you need to feel that you have a daily advancement, ask yourself everyday when you are about to connect to us and you will see that you are advancing.

49. S. (01:14:16) It's not very clear for me to open these questions in the ten. What does it mean to open these questions to the ten, who and what?

R. That what you're asking the Creator that will also be clear to the whole ten, and they too can incorporate in those questions and in this way, you can reach one general question, from that one mutual heart.

S. But if the questions who and what exist, isn't it criticism that my ego puts forth, why do I need to relate to these questions. Why do I need to come full force and do actions for the ten, to attract the light that reforms, that corrects all of it?

R. Okay do that, it doesn't matter in which way to incorporate. Sometimes you incorporate in them and sometimes they incorporate in you and sometimes you all incorporate in the Creator.

S. Isn't the whole point or goal to do actions that will invite the light for it to correct: what is this clarification and scrutiny? Sure, my ego has questions, all sorts of questions, who and what, why do I need to reply to that, why don't I do actions that invite the light, for it to correct for it to answer, to reply to what the ego is confused with?

R. Otherwise you won't reach the goal. You need to be mixed in society and with the Creator and by this also look inside yourself and you need to take yourself outside of it, and you have to serve the ten with all your forces, in all those directions you need to develop.

50. S. (01:16:55) This line that we speak about what is the inner role of the woman to be a partner of the creator, and in this Passover to finally once and for all exit Egypt?

R. The inner role of the woman and spiritual work is exactly like a man's. That's why it's not written specifically on spiritual matters what a woman has to do or what a man has to do, but only towards the external actions, the Commandments that are connected to time that the women doesn't have to do and so on, and we don't learn spiritual work specifically for men or for women because the soul is one and it's for everyone and whenever anyone connects to that one's soul they receive it all. And then there is nothing in that person that isn't unique and special to him or her and that's what's waiting for us; that's why all those questions what’s the different between men and women we're just letting go and putting it on the side and afterwards we will check and it will be more clear why we did this to begin with.

S. It's just that you said that thanks to righteous women Israel left Egypt, and so what prayer do we need to raise?

R. That the righteous women took them out of Egypt means that with the will to receive which is called a woman when it reaches a degree of righteous of justice that it works in order to bestow, so only in that way we can come out of Egypt meaning from in order to receive.

51. S. (01:19:53) What do I need to love in the friend if I already love their points in the heart, do I need to love their ego?

R. You just have to love them because they're going along with you and it doesn't matter which degree are you just have to help them, help them rise.

S. And if I see if our ten doesn't quite do it as if we don't have connection, is if we don't have work that we're doing together?

R. Yes it's yours specifically.

52. S. (01:21:00) The evil inclination is revealed before Lishma?

R. That evil inclination is revealed to the extent that a person discovers he is in Lo Lishma.

S. This time is Lo Lishma?

R. Yes.

53. S. (01:21:31) The prayer is a way to give my evil to the care of the light that reforms, how do I enter in a type of prayer that I take care of this evil?

R. To final correction.

S. The question is, how fast I reveal the evil and how quickly do I need to transfer it to a prayer and not dig into it?

R. As quick as you can.

54. S. (01:21:11) Lately, it's clear and clearer that the questions that I have I can combine it into two questions and it's clear that there is no rational answers to my questions because my questions usually are I want to understand. There is no answer I won't be able to receive an answer in the ego with these questions, so how does it work why do I need to ask questions?

R. Not questions it's in order to understand deeper and broader what the answers are, that's it. And if we're speaking and we hear questions and we're Incorporated in the answers of each and everyone so through that we are connecting between us. Otherwise how would we connect? You would only hear me or what's written in the book.

Reading Excerpt #84 “When they feel no flavor in the work..”

55. S. (01:25:03) What in our relationships should change to arrive to a question from our general heart?

R. You need a bit of connection, a bit of connection between us, then we will start discerning, scrutinizing and criticizing what the true questions really are.

56. S. (01:25:55) What flavor has to be in the work that we have to feel during this moment before the question comes and when the state comes what does it mean for us and what should we be ready for?

R. What should we be prepared for, to getting an answer.

S. But it doesn't mean it's a descent?

R. Not a descent there are no descents it's only in our eyes, in general there are no descents.

57. S. (01:26:47) Who is this wicked and how does he help us in the work?

R. The wicked or the sinner is in each and every one of us, and he is the one that reveals who the one is that is against the Creator, as much as we feel that we are against the Creator and feel ourselves wicked in that; to that extent we can already be prepared to reach correction.

58. S. (01:28:02) I open my heart inside out and I see how opposite I am, but you go through very challenging states. The question is where to get the strength for a prayer in these states?

R. The group only the group, I look at my friends, also now here I'm in a group and I take forces from them.

S. And how can we get strength for inner efforts?

R. Same thing that's what I'm talking about, in order to make those inner efforts I need forces, I take those forces from the group, where else can I receive them from? It's specifically to the extent that I come closer to the group I can then get forces from them.

S. We can take an impression and we can make upliftment but those inner strengths?

R. No, we are speaking about forces that come to man when he annuls himself before the group and then reaches annulment and gets their forces.

59. S. (01:29:58) There are these questions and then there's the inner work of a person and then there is a ten, and in the ten it appears that we don't recognize these questions directly but maybe we have all sorts of stories and everyone with their own story and maybe to himself it appears okay but all in all the ten doesn't appear well, do we need to recognize these questions and understand that this is what we need to clarify?

R. You need to tell one another, that no one will reach any good or right results if you don't feel that you must be dependent on one another. Meaning I have no choice I depend on those five, six, ten people or whichever group I'm in, I am dependent on them, I must annul towards them in order to get forces from them, they can be the smallest one like the example of the Rabbi Yosi ben Kisma, that if I annull towards them I get forces from them, what I need, I can be great and they are the smallest, but if I annull towards them so I get great forces.

S. But say they're not always here, let's say they're here at one at the table?

R. So work on that you all come

S. So the fact that we are not all here is it connected to the question of who is the Creator or what is this work?

R. Both those questions will start being clarified.

S. And we have to relate to them because I don't know how to do it in the ten with myself and say what to relate to or not what to relate to the solutions on the personal level is one thing but as a ten that's not clear do we solve them or do we answer them?

R. We must understand that our forces is for us are a spiritual ascent have to come from the whole ten, from the whole time, and there is nothing else to do but connect. Search.

S. I also feel that many tens want to help many new friends express concern and want to help, how can we take that, but again it practically shows we're not there.

R. Look, I have nothing to say the method is the method and I'm going to follow this method and whoever wants to go with me may come with me and whoever who doesn't he's free. There's no coercion in spirituality, that's why we are in specifically in an advanced state. I have nothing else to offer either, because I'm following this method, we are now in recognition of the evil of our nature and let's say in the beginning of the Exile from Egypt where we start understanding what desires we are in, and what intentions and what relationships and as much as we can come out of it it's really as if you're tied and you cannot move. That's a problem right, recognition of evil, but to run away from it, whoever can't stand it and hold on and wants to run away I've nothing to talk about that's a freedom of choice. But if someone leaves, so they leave.

60. S. (01:35:07) These two questions sound like they're directed at the same direction, the ego rejects bestowal but in practice what is the difference and what is the essential difference in the work in the ten?

R. We just need connection except for that nothing, That's why there's no issue here except for reaching more and more and more of an intense connection, and from that we will already reach all the rest. Meaning to bring our ten to a state that they feel themselves connected as one man with one heart.

S. If a person feels when these question comes that he can't fight them he can't even begin to battle them, how do you resist and what does it mean to hit him in the teeth?

R. If I see that this condition is before me to be as one and along with that I recognize that my friends are in somewhat answering this condition in some way so I can go with them, it'll pull me closer.

61. S. (01:37:13) Rabash writes in excerpts 84, in the last line that the wicked ask what is this work for you because then they were certain that the work was completed to bestow and the will to receive had no part in it, so if they were certain that they were in bestowal where is their room for the wicked, how can a person be certain of actions that he does?

R. That's how it is, ask again.

S. So he writes that the wicked ask what is this work for you because then they were certain that their work was in complete to bestow and the will to receive had no part in it, but if the wicked comes only if you're certain in the action that you do how to really know that you're working correctly with the friends and not making mistakes of the will to receive?

R. I don't understand.

S. We are now coming to do work with the friends. How do I know that my work with the friends is coming from a correct place and I'm not coming with my will to receive, but I come to give them?

R. The main thing is that Im adhered to the friends and I'm coming to work with them as one man with one heart as much as possible and with that I am advancing for sure, because I'm coming out of myself and I'm adhering to them.

S. So the entire work is to gain faith above reason in the work?

R. Of course.

62. S. (01:39:17) About what you've answered to the friend in the lesson, we speak and ask questions and are incorporated in the questions and this is how we can connect, otherwise it would be impossible. Is there a way to make it stronger because they're about 20 or 30 people that are asking questions in the lesson that are guiding the entire deficiency of the world vessel? How does this whole story work?

R. The story works kind of like how you're describing it. There's a system that is gathering more and more towards its center and eventually in the center, there's like a spiritual ten. That we are all drawn towards it and gathering towards it and in this way we reach connection. That's it. Whoever wants to connect connects and whoever doesn't doesn't, and it doesn't depend on as much questions that a person asks, but where his heart is longing towards and tending towards. That is how it is. I think that for sure everyone that is in the lesson or not at the time of the lesson, but connected so they are part of spiritual advancement and advancing. They 'have a part in the next world' as we say, and here it all depends on persistence as much as a person listens, asks, checks himself and in this way advances forward.

S. Is there a way to be incorporated in the friends that are not asking questions? I can have a friend sitting next to me for years not asking one question?

R. By them hearing questions and wanting to bring answers from themselves. By this, we incorporate.

S. So the work in the morning lesson is as much as possible to connect to a single, unified ten to the world vessel?

R. Yes.

S. Because throughout the day our focus is on our private ten, our individual ten, so how do we focus more the work of the individual ten to the general ten?

R. I don't think that's so important. What's important is to always be with the ones that are scrutinizing, going, turning, fixing. Who they are exactly, doesn't really matter. It could be my private ten, it could be the whole audience of the morning lesson or noon lesson, or even in some meal in the evening or something. It doesn't matter. The main thing is to incorporate with whoever is in the business here.

63. S. (01:42:55) In the work, there is a situation where you can feel the questions of the wicked and to hold on, you need help from the Creator and you feel a righteous and your states come back for years. There is an article in the Zohar that says there is an ocean with the other side. This is the feeling that there is no real progress. You don't feel, you don't see the result, the overall positive result. I see a friend's advancement but I don't feel that it has anything to do with me. I don't see the connection between my work and it helping to fix something?

R. So that's good. If you see results of your exertion then you receive in order to receive and you'd be happy, you'd be proud.

S. And yet still, there should be some result. Let's put it this way, so what does a Kabbalist do with him going through all these states we heard about Baal Shem Tov who went through 400 states in a few minutes?

R. Right, this is what he says that everything falls into the ocean of the other side and disappears there and eventually the Creator gathers all those things together and raises the man with them, together.

S. Is it necessary to believe it? Because I can't feel it?

R. That's called in order to bestow the main thing is that you're giving contentment to the Creator and you don't feel that either because if you would feel it, you would enjoy it in order to receive.

S. So the question is, I'm turning to the Creator, what does my work of that kind do to you? It's like I turn back to you. Who does it help that I'm going through all this? How does it bring you contentment? Does it bring you contentment?

R. The Creator fills the entire reality, and for sure, you're working in such a way that you don't want anything for yourself, but only for the benefit of the Creator so it all goes to him.

S. And there's some additional prayer or something that will happen? Because I can't break through past that?

R. Please put it together, that you want all of your efforts to be in the direction of the Creator.

S. I want to and it gets swallowed somewhere.
R. So again, you want to receive signs back to you, that's not good. Because then it all goes in order to receive. I understand you, but here this is the whole difference between the wisdom of Kabbalah and religion. In religion you feel supposedly that you are being filled and in the wisdom of Kabbalah, you feel more and more that you're getting empty.

S. At times, we say that we want to see the results of the friends, that this is in order to bestow. Why can't we see that, meaning I see the results but I'm not seeing it connected to my effort?

R. No also that in order for you not to enjoy it.

64. S. (01:47:03) I wanted to ask in the beginning of the lesson, you spoke about the Creator collected us as a world vessel, not by accident, but it is an opportunity that may never come back again. What exactly is this opportunity that the Creator has collected us as the global Bnei Baruch.

R. It's a very big international group that speaks clearly without concealing it, without mixing it, and all kinds of actions and what a person needs to do in order to come closer to the Creator. And we want to scrutinize it and implement it.

S. In the same sentence, you also said that we need to as quickly as possible to enter the heart of the friend. What is this action that you, practically, enter the heart of the friend?

R. Try and do it without adding any words and you will see.

Reading Excerpt #85 Shamati (01:52:56) "Pharoah is considered…"

65. R. (01:54:03) Meaning, we have no questions of the Creator, who is the Creator? Hear his voice, all these preparations and we don't have a question.

66. S. (01:54:28) I understood that the difference between what and who, that what should help me aim myself and define the reason. And the who should bring me to actions against that question. Is that right? So the what should aim me give me a reason to strengthen? And the who are additional actions that I can do in order to overcome?

R. Keep scrutinizing according to what you understand and later you will see how correct or incorrect it is.

67. S. (01:55:17) Is it possible to think that the Creator gets pleasure from the work of Pharaoh?

R. The Creator is getting the pleasure while?

S. That the Creator gets pleasure from Pharoah's work.

R. Pharaoh is a force that helps the Creator to reveal himself. In its opposite form of course. As it says, a thing and it's opposite to … form a side. But thanks to them, this is revealed to the person. So in essence, Pharaoh helps the Creator to open and reveal himself before a person.

Reading Excerpt #86 Rabash (01:56:33) "Since he wants to walk…" twice.

68. S. (01:58:49) It's written here in the excerpt, that specifically when he wants to walk on the path of for her sake, so those questions of who and what show up. Meaning it's a clear sign that if these questions come, that I want to walk on the path of for her sake?

R. Yes, yes.

S. We were saying that the work has to be without expectation for any result of my efforts, that's what I heard. But to expect results isn't for myself necessarily?

R. Well then for what?

S. Let's say I make efforts for the ten to be connected more and the friends will receive happiness and joy in the work, so I want to see that the friends are enjoying and connected between them. So that's a good expectation, a good result?

R. Let's say so.
