Connecting the World in the Last Generation - Selected Excerpts from the Sources. #15

Reading #15 “The collective and the individual are one..”

1. S. (02:18) I wanted to ask when we read Baal HaSulam's last generation articles, I always have some sensation that it it's like communist. His particular approach and ideas are like, I don't know. I feel like it's a little socialist or communist approach. What can you say about this?

R. You are right. All in all, the wisdom of Kabbalah explains the general law of nature, that it doesn't depend on the still, vegetative, animate, or people. But the way nature entirely is interconnected and works according to nature. And it turns out that all of nature is connected integrally and everyone is dependent on everyone. And that's what the wisdom of Kabbalah is speaking about, how we can bestow through all kinds of opportunities on the general of nature and enjoy it. And by this, give contentment to each and every part of nature and also to the general force called Creator, that's it. So call it socialism, communism whatever word you choose. But the general law of integral nature is to begin with, it's obligated, and works in all of the universe and everything you can say. There's only one force working and connecting everything and leading everything into the complete connection.

S. But I feel more comfortable with the market economy with western oriented. Its like a communist socialist order. Let's say even though it's in order to give to the Creator, it feels horrible that it's a communistic, collective approach of pressuring the individual and limiting my freedom. How can I be comfortable with it?

R. Baal HaSulam is it offering communism or socialism. He's telling you that all parts of nature are interconnected and you cannot and are not allowed to relieve any part of the integral law, of the integral connection, because this is determined in nature. That's why, because you have no choice. You have to learn this law and know how to implement it, and don't put anything new in there. That it seems to you that it's more convenient or better for you or someone else, just to learn the laws of nature and follow them, that's what the wisdom of Kabbalah recommends, that's why they explain to us the laws of nature. And whoever will go to implement it will probably gain something and succeed and whoever will not. So we also see what happens to them eventually.

S. He also mentions that eternal state in his writings so let's say after the end of correction. How does this political state of humanity will be? Are we going to be one state without borders or anything? Or how is it going to be? How is the system going to work?

R. After the end of correction, all of humanity will be connected in a clear way to one another. In a state that everyone understands what everyone everyone's role is and everything opens before us in a clear way from one end to the other. That is called the Creator will be revealed to everybody, and we will live in a world that is entirely clear, transparent, and will know how to exist correctly in a mutual connection in a hug with one another. Not only this, but also the still, vegetative, and animate.

2. S. (08:03) Kabbalah, is it ultimately the principle of evolution? Nature organizes everything according to the principles of Kabbalah? And in an integrated system, there's only one benefit and it's the benefit of the system, but there's no real individual benefit. It's just one system, is that the correct view?

R. Correct, to both of the questions.

3. S. (09:00) Most of the individuals don't know that they are dependent on the public, and each one is trying to receive from the others. What individual is Baal HaSulam speaking about?

R. He is speaking about every individual. When the complete connection between all created beings isn't revealed, but those who do reveal it, they understand that there's no difference between them or the others. And if they damage, they damage the other two.

S. Meaning it's about those who know?

R. Of course. And those who don't know are suffering for no reason.

4. S. (10:00) Baal HaSulam writes that good attributes and bad attributes, good actions and bad actions, are only with respect to the public. According to the wisdom of Kabbalah here, what is he talking about? Something new?

R. He said that everything is calculated only towards the collective, whatever will be.

S. How can it be that bad attributes are for the sake of the public? He said both the bad attributes and the good attributes? If it's a bad action, how can it be for the sake of others?

R. So a bad deed, as much as it is bad for the collective, a good deed is good for the collective.

S. Is there something new here?

R. The calculation is new, the calculation is toward the entire collective.

5. S. (11:02) He writes here that the main correction is when everyone understands that his good and the public good is one. How does that express that the well-being of the collective and the individual are one?

R. Because everyone is dependent on one another. If now the system of creation would be revealed, we'd see that the single is just as the collective, that the individual and the collective are completely equal, identical, and dependent from one another.

S. A single person can come and say okay I'll care for myself and then everyone will enjoy it because it's the same?

R. But because we're connected integrally, if I'm only benefiting myself, I'm harming everyone.

S. What is this good of the individual that is connected to the benefit of the public?

R. That the individual takes the collective into consideration and does what's good for everybody, and in this way everybody reaches a state that they're only working for the collective. And in this way, all the individuals enjoy themselves.

S. What is this good so the individual has to annul his good and not focus on that? And the good will come to him through the public?

R. I'm tired from you already, okay? Enough.

6. S. (12:50) Ultimately, correcting and creating are the same? If it's the same, what are we creating?

R. We are doing it for the others. By this, we want to reach the correction of the whole world.

7. S. (13:13) Baal HaSulam said the freedom of the individual and the freedom of the collective are one, and they share the good, they share the freedom. If you could explain, what does it mean that they share the freedom?

R. That we can bring freedom for everyone, only under the condition that we're thinking how everybody is connected into one collective, and that collective has to reach freedom.

S. Baal HaSulam writes here that the individuals have to perform the role. What is the role?

R. To hold each other.

S. The public is us or the general public?

R. The general public has to reach a state that each one is concerned for the benefit of the collective.

S. Today we see that?

R. I don't know what's happening today. I say we have to reach it.

S. I understand we have to reach it, but I'm talking about the buffer between today's state and what we should reach. We see today that people are trying to do good but they don't see that they are harming. Where will be the change that through their annulment of their desires, they are caring for others?

R. Where do they see it?

S. How will that happen and what will come to them and what will change?

R. By dissemination and through big pressure, that is called the wars of the Messiah.

S. And our role is to soften this thing?

R. Our role will be to organize the study.

8. S. (15:24) When we say that the good of the public, we see that there are many publics and many kinds of publics, many crowds. And for some people, something seems good but it may be the opposite of other people?

R. Connection is the will to receive that wants to enjoy. That’s the collective, that's what it means. Why do they want to enjoy? So in each and every one that's divided in every time and between a different kind of public it doesn't matter, they all want to enjoy.

S. But some public enjoys and other people enjoy other things and sometimes they're opposite so how do you think that about the whole public?

R. It doesn't matter what they want to enjoy, they just enjoy.

S. If everybody's joy collides with each other?

R. So let it collide. Just like now, so they go to war.

S. How can we care about the whole public? How can we reach this state?

R. In this way we will not reach the benefit of the public and the peace of the public. In this way you will just reach war.

S. How should we?

R. How to do it? By education, only by educating. That you educate them, and they eventually understand that you cannot reach peace in the world, but only by a mutual agreement in whole and all parts of humanity to an understanding and to a general connection in the world.

9. S. (17:25) He writes that the solution is that every individual will understand that his good and the good of the collective is one and by this the world will come to its full correction. So he's talking about propaganda when we want to disseminate, explaining to the whole world that the quality of bestowal is the right way to behave. So I wanted to ask, is it correct to look at it in the way that outward publishing and dissemination that we do outside depends on the pressure the Creator gives the world as we see like the earthquakes and all kinds of things that happen in Israel and all around the world?

R. It doesn't matter in which way it will be clothed.

S. Will it be correct to say that the real propaganda is the inward propaganda, the connection we are doing in the Tens and the light we are drawing to soften? I don't even know how to continue my sentence?

R. I also don't understand what you want to say.

S. I'm trying to say that when we go out to disseminate to the outside it depends on the external factors, the pressure they feel. And then they can hear and listen because they're in trouble, but internally the ‘I will hasten it’ we are looking for, we don't want the world to suffer and then they will listen. Internally, when we draw the light in our connection in our Tens, will that prevent the trouble from the public? Will it help dissemination?

R. Of course it'll help. As much as the public will want to be able to come closer to us it will be easier for us to bestow upon them and then it will be easier for them to be close to all these forms of correction.

S. Could it be that connections between us will give us new ways?

R. Of course, because we are in one web. It doesn't matter that part are in order to receive the other is in order to bestow. All in all, we are in one place.

S. Can we say that the world vessel we can see contains all the Countries and all the Nations and all the colors and now is the special time we are in where the world is shaking and we have both the need and the ability. You can really see the ability.

R. I really hope that the world will gradually, from no choice get the ability to hear and see its future. It's not worth waiting for something bad but now can already start advancing correctly.

10. S. (20:36) The wars of the Messiah are wars between nations and what are nations? Are these these Nations what we see or are they qualities?

R. Mainly qualities.

S. How do these qualities, how will this war be revealed within every nation that will happen?

R. I don't know but we will see it ourselves, we will be witnesses to it.

11. S. (21:27) Do we not know what is good or what is bad?

R. Right, that is something we scrutinize gradually and according to our advancement.

12. S. (21:54) Is it correct in different states to yearn to discover what harm am I doing to others?

R. No, sometimes that's good too to try and understand what damage we are doing to others.

13. S. (22:20) In the third paragraph it says that these ideas are under the condition that everyone keeps their role in society. Are we talking about a state that every cogwheel understands is particular, its final correction?

R. So be healthy everybody, and I'll see you in the noon lesson.
